1st (5) (11/8 +31%) Artisan Dancer |
11/8(+31%) | (5) Artisan Dancer 11/8, Three wins from 15 runs last year. Latest win at Newcastle in January. 5/2, close fourth of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 5 days ago, proving vulnerable only late on having made a big move around the outside. Will continue to give a good account. Went close at Lingfield on Sunday and he has a record of 22232 at this track; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/4 +33%) Aqwaam |
6/4(+33%) | (1) Aqwaam 6/4, Latest win at Newcastle in November. Good fourth of 12 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 21 days ago, not clear run. Cheekpieces back on. Remains of interest. Two wins in November and held his form in next three starts; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (13/2 -63%) Captain Kane |
13/2(-63%) | (4) Captain Kane 13/2, Course winner. Eight wins from 26 Flat runs. Creditable second of 8 in handicap at Kempton (16f, 11/1), beaten only by an unexposed one. Off 153 days. Respected. Versatile type who was a good second at Kempton (2m) last time; respected on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -122%) Melakaz |
10/1(-122%) | (2) Melakaz 10/1, Five wins from 16 Flat runs. Two wins from 4 runs last year. Off 5 months, thirteenth of 14 in handicap (8/1) at Kempton (16f) 65 days ago. 5-10 on AW but he was laboured at Kempton latest and has bit to prove after another break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 -38%) True Courage |
11/1(-38%) | (3) True Courage 11/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in November. Creditable sixth of 12 in handicap (33/1) at Kempton (16f) 34 days ago. Return to shorter will suit. 2m may have stretched him last time but he's not easy to predict and others are more solid. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ARTISAN DANCER has been kept busy over the last few months and his admirable reliability could be rewarded now Jason Hart returns to the saddle in a bid to revive a previous winning partnership. Hart is 1-3 aboard Charlie Johnston's four-year-old and his familiarity with this habitual closer rates a key factor, with race tactics likely to be crucial in a field of this size. Captain Kane is feared most on his return, while Melakaz is also respected, despite a below-par effort over 2m latest.
Claims can be made for all 5 with the vote going to AQWAAM, who shaped as if still in top form over this C&D 3 weeks ago. Artisan Dancer also shaped better than the bare result when a close fourth at Lingfield on Sunday and is next best.
The most striking contender is ARTISAN DANCER, who went close at Lingfield on Sunday and has form figures of 222232 at this track.

1st (1) (11/10 +45%) Georgi Girl |
11/10(+45%) | (1) Georgi Girl 11/10, Gained valuable experience in junior hurdles last season and doubled his tally with a bloodless 19-length success at Sandown (16f, heavy) a fortnight ago. Has scope for better still, so she may well take some stopping especially if any rain falls. Easily justified favouritism at Sandown two weeks ago; could well improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 +66%) Amelia's Dance |
11/4(+66%) | (4) Amelia's Dance 11/4, Added to an excellent record at Taunton when winning in December 2022. Lost her way last spring but back on song of late, runner-up in 3 of her last 4 starts, latest when beaten 16 lengths by a well-treated rival at Newbury just under 6 weeks ago. Largely consistent form this term includes a close second here in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (14/1 -75%) Mucuna |
14/1(-75%) | (3) Mucuna 14/1, Just a modest Flat winner but quickly made up into a better hurdler in summer 2022, winning 4 juveniles. Shaped as if retaining ability in that sphere back from 18 months off at Newbury in December and similar comments applied for her recent spin on the all-weather last month. Record suggests she'll be more interesting when back on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (28/1 -12%) On My Command |
28/1(-12%) | (2) On My Command 28/1, Successful 3 times over hurdles for Harry Fry but following another yard switch, offered little sent chasing sole outing for Nicky Henderson 14 months ago. Betting should prove a useful guide returned to hurdling on debut for another new yard. Absent for 14 months; debut for new yard; market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (11/2 +73%) No No Tonic |
11/2(+73%) | (7) No No Tonic 11/2, Dual winner last term and put up a couple of solid placed efforts in recent months. Has never looked a 3-miler but was in trouble too far out to blame the trip alone at Wincanton on Boxing Day so she needs to leave that behind back down in distance. Veteran who has done her winning at Wincanton; not the percentage call. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (15/2 +25%) Parikarma |
15/2(+25%) | (8) Parikarma 15/2, Taunton novice winner (16.5f) last season who added another victory to her tally in 6-runner claiming hurdle at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) last month, not that it looked likely for most of the way. Looks one to take on back in a handicap. Fortunate to win Leicester claimer last month; unlikely to follow up. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GEORGI GIRL ran out a very easy winner on her latest outing on Grand Military day at Sandown a fortnight ago and commands the utmost respect, especially with Elizabeth Gale's 8lb claim to aid her cause. Smurfette has shown promise on both hurdles outings to date and has to enter calculations making her handicap bow from the foot of the weights. Amelia's Dance and Mucuna are others to consider.
This could boil down to a match between GEORGI GIRL and Smurfette, with preference for the former having handled testing conditions with aplomb at Sandown a fortnight ago, and with plenty of rain in the forecast, she could well take some stopping. Dan Skelton's mare makes a quick switch to handicaps and she makes plenty appeal from an opening mark of 100, with Amelia's Dance seemingly best of the remainder.
Sandown scorer GEORGI GIRL could well show further progress. Smurfette and Notnowlinda give Dan Skelton an interesting hand.

1st (3) (9/4 +32%) Due Date |
9/4(+32%) | (3) Due Date 9/4, Winner at Chelmsford City in January. 13/2, creditable third of 8 in handicap at this C&D 11 days ago, headed late on. Should go well again in present groove. Won at Chelmsford last month and was a close third over C&D last time; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (33/1 -136%) Banana |
33/1(-136%) | (7) Banana 33/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. Last of 9 in handicap (25/1) at this C&D 11 days ago, racing wide and weakening over 1f out. Others make more appeal. Went close over C&D in December but he's gone quiet again since and is now 0-23. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/2 +25%) Deputise |
9/2(+25%) | (4) Deputise 9/2, C&D winner who ended long losing run in minor event at Southwell (6f) in August. 15/2, respectable fourth of 8 in minor event at this C&D 20 days ago, nearest finish. Not discounted for all he's not the most consistent. Fair fourth here last time but this looks tougher back in a handicap; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/3 -11%) Higher Law |
10/3(-11%) | (2) Higher Law 10/3, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. 3/1, creditable second of 9 in handicap at this C&D 11 days ago. Expected to be bang there. 0-16 but was a good second over C&D last time and he's on same mark here; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 +50%) Hard Solution |
8/1(+50%) | (5) Hard Solution 8/1, Course winner. 33/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 7 days ago, dropping away tamely having done plenty in front. Others more appealing for win purposes. Eight wins on turf but he's 1-27 on AW and has not made a serious impact this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 +0%) Dodgy Bob |
14/1(+0%) | (6) Dodgy Bob 14/1, Course winner. Latest win at Thirsk in September. 25/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at this course (7.2f) 45 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. No forlorn hope back down in trip. Veteran who is hard to predict and needs another bolt from the blue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (150/1 -355%) Ank Marvin |
150/1(-355%) | (8) Ank Marvin 150/1, Eleventh of 12 in minor event (200/1) at Newcastle (5f) 23 days ago. Back up in trip now and he's hard to make a solid case for. 0-7 and was out the back at a massive price at Newcastle last time; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (10/3 -90%) Monsieur Fantaisie |
10/3(-90%) | (1) Monsieur Fantaisie 10/3, Improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner minor event at Chelmsford City (6f, 15/8) 8 days ago, quickening clear early in straight and kept up to work. Respected under a penalty on debut for new yard provided he keeps the slow starts at bay. Made all in a classified event last week; respected under penalty on his stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A winner of a classified stakes over this trip at Chelmsford and competitive in handicaps since, DUE DATE is tenacious when he puts his mind to a task and can strike again from a workable rating. Monsieur Fantaisie was a close third in that aforementioned Chelmsford race and is a notable contender under a penalty on debut for the Peter Niven yard. Higher Law has to be feared after running on to finish a respectable second behind an upwardly mobile rival here.
Despite remaining a maiden HIGHER LAW again ran well when runner-up over C&D 11 days ago and a repeat from the same mark should see him bang there again. Monsieur Fantaisie ended a lengthy losing run in good style at Chelmsford recently and he's feared on debut for Peter Niven. Due Date may do best of the others.
The vote goes to MONSIEUR FANTAISIE, who put in a dominant display at Chelmsford last week. Higher Law is feared most.

1st (2) (1/6 +79%) Masaccio |
1/6(+79%) | (2) Masaccio 1/6, Useful bumper winner who returned from 6 months off to make a successful start over hurdles in a Chepstow maiden (19.5f, heavy) in October. Better form in defeat at Newbury since whilst seeming to have his limitations exposed. Obvious claims back in calmer waters. Has performed very well against smart opposition since winning hurdle debut; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) (22/1 +12%) Tough Approach |
22/1(+12%) | (13) Tough Approach 22/1, Finished second in a point and again showed promise when third in a Newton Abbot bumper in October but has made a discouraging start to his hurdle career. Placed in a bumper but has dropped out of contention quickly on both hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 +57%) Defi Nonantais |
6/1(+57%) | (4) Defi Nonantais 6/1, Finished third on his sole outing in Irish points. Showed more than on hurdling debut when fourth of 10 in a Plumpton novice (20.5f) 18 days ago but will be of more interest in handicaps after this run. Fairly respectable fourth at Plumpton last month but others have much stronger form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (22/1 +56%) There's Claude |
22/1(+56%) | (9) There's Claude 22/1, Placed all 3 starts in points but has made little impact in a brace of maiden hurdles. Has a modicum of ability but faces a tough task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (50/1 +50%) Pescatorius |
50/1(+50%) | (8) Pescatorius 50/1, No show in bumpers/novice hurdles. Showed nothing more than minor promise on first two hurdling starts; handicaps beckon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (15/2 +63%) Just One Surf |
15/2(+63%) | (5) Just One Surf 15/2, Placed both starts in Irish points and has shaped reasonably well in Market Rasen bumper/Fontwell novice hurdle, but is possibly more one for handicaps a bit further down the line. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Placed in two points and a bumper but his hurdling debut was disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (40/1 +20%) Dance To Fame |
40/1(+20%) | (3) Dance To Fame 40/1, Successful on the last of 4 starts in Irish points but finished well held on his Plumpton hurdle debut in late 2021 and not seen since. Irish point winner in 2021; absent since low-key rules debut later that year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (125/1 +0%) Time To Smile |
125/1(+0%) | (12) Time To Smile 125/1, No show in bumper/maiden hurdles. Has left Seamus Mullins. Showed no significant promise in a bumper and two maiden hurdles for previous stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Gentle Slopes made a winning start for Nicky Henderson over 2m here last month and the Listed bumper winner should have more to offer. That said, his stamina isn't entirely assured stepping back up in trip and MASACCIO could be in place to take full advantage. Alan King's grey has achieved a solid level of form, including when fifth in the Challow at Newbury, and he may well benefit from a sounder surface. Defi Nonantais rates best of the rest.
MASACCIO has some solid form and, having been spared a hard race once held in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury, he's fancied to resume winning ways now returned to calmer waters. Gentle Slopes remains totally unexposed for Nicky Henderson and ought to prove equally as effective over this longer trip, with Thunder N Lightnin in the running for minor honours.
Eased in grade after a very respectable fifth in the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury in December, MASACCIO looks the one to beat.

1st (2) (4/1 +27%) Jumira Bridge |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Jumira Bridge 4/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Chelmsford City in October. 28/1, below best when ninth of 12 in handicap at this course (7.2f) 11 days ago. Return to this shorter trip rates a likely plus now. Seven-time AW winner and has possibilities if he gets some luck on this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/2 +71%) Jackmeister Rudi |
7/2(+71%) | (7) Jackmeister Rudi 7/2, Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. Seventh of 8 in minor event (14/1) at this C&D 20 days ago, not looking entirely straightforward under pressure. Dual turf winner but he's 0-12 on AW and was well held here on his return last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 -56%) Doves Of Peace |
7/2(-56%) | (1) Doves Of Peace 7/2, Maiden who again ran creditably despite reverting to his free-going ways when third of 6 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 9/4) 18 days ago. Return to sprinting shouldn't inconvenience him and he's of interest. 0-12 but he's been placed in last three runs including over C&D; respected back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -33%) Doc Sportello |
8/1(-33%) | (4) Doc Sportello 8/1, Course winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Fifth of 6 in handicap (22/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 14 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Previous C&D second last month was more like it however and return to 6f a plus. 12yo but he went close over C&D on penultimate run and has claims on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/4 -38%) Peachey Carnehan |
11/4(-38%) | (3) Peachey Carnehan 11/4, 5-time C&D winner who ended long losing run back down in trip when taking C&D handicap 25 days ago. Getting first run on the runner-up. Should give another good account up just 2 lb. Got back on the scoresheet over C&D last month and he's only 2lb higher here; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 -75%) Griggy |
14/1(-75%) | (6) Griggy 14/1, C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 13½ lengths last of 9 to Peachey Carnehan in handicap at this C&D (11/1) on the back of 7 months off 25 days ago, weakening home turn. Cheekpieces back on. Needs to leave that well behind to figure. Struggled over C&D on recent return and is now 0-15 for current yard; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (16/1 -78%) Glorious Charmer |
16/1(-78%) | (5) Glorious Charmer 16/1, 3-time C&D winner. Three wins from 11 runs last year. Fifth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (18/1) 11 days ago, weakening final 1f. Five-time course winner but he's finished down the field here in last five runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (150/1 -127%) I Didn't Cost Alot |
150/1(-127%) | (8) I Didn't Cost Alot 150/1, 150/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 11 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f). Off 11 months. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Has shown little in her six starts and can only be watched after a lengthy absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Molly Gunn was seen to good effect aboard DOC SPORTELLO when she guided the veteran to a creditable second over track and trip last month, and her 7lb claim could be a very useful asset in a race of this nature. Jumira Bridge boasts winning C&D form and is a must for the shortlist at this level, while Peachey Carnehan is just 2lb higher than for his own C&D success last month and also rates a leading contender.
DOVES OF PEACE has yet to get his head in front but has returned from a short break in good order, and with the drop back in trip unlikely to inconvenience him, he looks a player with his rider taking off a handy 7 lb. Peachey Carnehan, a multiple C&D winner, including on his latest start,and Jumira Bridge head the dangers.
Top of the list is PEACHEY CARNEHAN, who recorded his eighth win at this track when scoring over C&D last month.

1st (9) (9/2 +82%) Heaven Smart |
9/2(+82%) | (9) Heaven Smart 9/2, Ran at least as well as he had done over hurdles on his second start chasing when third of 15 at Lingfield (23.5f, good to soft) in November. However, he failed to build on that over the same C&D next time and now tried in blinkers. Let down by his jumping last time; still a maiden; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (4/1 -20%) Pedley Wood |
4/1(-20%) | (10) Pedley Wood 4/1, Point scorer who has improved for a wind op/fitting of cheekpieces over fences, landing handicaps at Hereford/Taunton at up to 3¼m in recent months. Jumping has very much looked an asset and 3 lb rise for latest success doesn't look harsh. Point winner; 2-2 over rules fences and could well improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 +50%) Shot Boii |
5/1(+50%) | (6) Shot Boii 5/1, :Healthy strike rate over hurdles (4-14) and made it third time lucky in this sphere with the visor refitted at Hereford (25.2f, soft) in January. Lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at Warwick since and another bold show could be on the way. In good form since wearing reapplied visor; holds solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (15/2 -25%) Ernest Gray |
15/2(-25%) | (2) Ernest Gray 15/2, Useful bumper winner who opened his hurdles account at Doncaster last spring. Stepped up on chase debut display when scoring at the second attempt in this sphere at Southwell (24.3f, soft) but this is more demanding up 5 lb. Won at Southwell last month and is open to further progress over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/4 +58%) Godot |
11/4(+58%) | (5) Godot 11/4, Dual hurdles winner last spring, including here, and showed the benefit ot his chase debut spin when narrowly outpointing the in-form Morfee (winner since) at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft). 4 lb rise tolerable and he has to enter calculations. Last-time-out scorer but has stamina to prove over this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/1 +38%) James Jet |
5/1(+38%) | (4) James Jet 5/1, Winning pointer who was progressive over hurdles, making a winning handicap bow at Uttoxeter in November. Kicked on again when striking on chase debut at Ffos Las (21.5f, heavy) but followed that with a very low-key display at Chepstow. Disappointing last time; not fully exposed but needs to avoid mistakes. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ERNEST GRAY clearly benefited from his chasing debut at Wetherby in November when justifying favouritism at Southwell last month. Open to further improvement, a 5lb rise is unlikely to be an inconvenience in what appears a winnable contest on paper. Pedley Wood is unbeaten in two starts over fences, with victories at Hereford and Taunton to his name, and he has to be of interest once again. Others to note include Shot Boii and James Jet.
Cases can be made for several of these, with SCRUM DIDDLY the one who appeals most. He is 2 lb below the mark off which he was a good second in a small-field Ascot handicap on his penultimate start and, with just three runs in this sphere under his belt, he could have more to offer. Pedley Wood made it 2-2 over fences at Taunton and he's a live contender, while Godot, Midnight Centurion and Shot Boii should all have parts to play, too.
Bottom-weight PEDLEY WOOD is taken to maintain his unbeaten record over fences. Ernest Gray is second choice.

9/4(+36%) | (3) Ice Cool Harry 9/4, 11/2 and off 6 months, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 17 days ago, refusing to settle. Still lightly raced but he needs more progress on his second run after break. |

5/1(-100%) | (1) Muscika 5/1, 3-time C&D winner. Four wins from 17 runs last year. Latest win here in November. Creditable second of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 8/1) 5 days ago. Big shout. Won four times last year and was only just caught at Lingfield on Sunday; strong claims. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3/1 -71%) Bright |
3/1(-71%) | (4) Bright 3/1, Career best when winning 9-runner handicap at this C&D (7/2) 27 days ago. Remains low mileage so needs considering. Progressive 4yo who won over C&D last time and a 2lb rise looks fair; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A 2lb rise for BRIGHT's C&D victory last month looks more than workable and a double could be on the cards for Mark Loughnane's gelding. Ice Cool Harry offered more encouragement after a 165-day break when posting a fair fourth at Southwell, with a 1lb drop in the ratings likely to help. He may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Muscika, who was just pipped at Lingfield last weekend.
MUSCIKA was only just denied at Lingfield on Sunday and this 3-time C&D winner looks ready to strike again. The progressive Bright looks the obvious threat.
Bright is respected but preference is for 16-time winner MUSIKA, who was only just caught off this mark at Lingfield on Sunday.

1st (4) (12/1 +40%) Thunderclap |
12/1(+40%) | (4) Thunderclap 12/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat and made steady progress in this sphere last season, winning a Sedgefield maiden in April. Better for return when fifth of 7 in handicap at Catterick 4 weeks ago and connections now opt for a step up in trip. Not beaten far when fifth of seven at Catterick (1m7f) last month; tries a new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +70%) Madaket |
3/1(+70%) | (5) Madaket 3/1, Left previous efforts well behind when making a winning handicap debut at Chepstow (19.5f, soft) on return in October. However, he's been unable to match that form in 2 starts since, some less-than-fluent jumping not helping when fifth at Exeter on New Year's Day. Made winning seasonal/handicap debut in October but safely held twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 +13%) Katate Dori |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Katate Dori 7/2, Struck at the third time of asking in bumpers at Market Rasen last March and best effort yet over hurdles when third of 12 on qualifying run in a Hereford maiden (19.7f) 25 days ago. Opening mark demands some improvement but he's not discounted in an open-looking race. Sound effort when placed in Hereford maiden last; can improve again in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 +0%) Bentley's Return |
6/1(+0%) | (2) Bentley's Return 6/1, Showed fair form when reaching the frame on 3 of his 4 bumper starts and improved on hurdles debut form when third in a Plumpton maiden (20.5f) in December, well suited by step up in trip. Likely he can do better still now handicapping. Unexposed 6yo who was placed in Plumpton maiden in December; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (20/1 +20%) Golden Ambition |
20/1(+20%) | (6) Golden Ambition 20/1, Midfield only start in bumpers and promise on 2 of his 3 starts in novice/maiden hurdles, making late headway in to fifth over inadequate trip at Taunton (16.5f) 32 days ago. Another likely to improve now handicapping with this longer trip promising to suit. 80-1 fourth on hurdling debut but two lesser efforts have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (16/1 +20%) Karakoram |
16/1(+20%) | (14) Karakoram 16/1, Scored at Taunton last spring but more miss than hit since, only fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (23.9f, heavy) 8 days ago. Mark continues to ease but others arrive with more pressing claims. Five-time winner over hurdles but not firing on all cylinders this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (7/2 +13%) Wot You Wearing |
7/2(+13%) | (13) Wot You Wearing 7/2, Steadily progressive from a low base in handicaps, showing a good attitude when bringing up third career victory at Chepstow (19.5f) in November. Found only one too good both starts since, latterly at Sandown 919.8f) 2 weeks ago. Should go well again partnered by promising young rider. Three wins this season; recent Sandown second was another PB; good 5lb claimer booked here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/1 -29%) Hurricane Danny |
9/1(-29%) | (3) Hurricane Danny 9/1, Work-in-progress in bumpers who stepped up markedly on his hurdles debut form when runner-up behind stablemate Isaac des Obeaux at Chepstow (19.5f) in November. Possibly found race coming too soon back there in December and highly likely there's more to come now handicapping. Well beaten last time but was second in Chepstow maiden in November and remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (12/1 +52%) Kitesurfer |
12/1(+52%) | (7) Kitesurfer 12/1, Won juvenile hurdle on his only race in France back in May 2022 and produced best effort so far on these shores when fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (2½m, heavy) in November. Seemingly not 100% when pulled up at Newcastle a month later. Had wind op since and cheekpieces now go on. Ran okay when upped to 2m4f in November but pulled up since; cheekpieces now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (33/1 -230%) Hello Sunshine |
33/1(-230%) | (8) Hello Sunshine 33/1, Produced a career best to double her tally over hurdles when scoring with ease at Plumpton (25f) in May and backed that up from 7 lb higher mark when fourth at Stratford (26.4f) later that month, her stamina seemingly stretched. Absent since though and this rates tougher. In good form for new yard last spring but has fitness to prove here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Wot You Wearing has found only the progressive Gyllen too strong on his last two outings and Freddie Gingell's 5lb claim puts the seven-year-old on an appealing mark. However, it may be worth chancing last year's winner of this contest, SAMI BEAR. Chris Gordon's gelding has shaped better than the beaten distance this season and he may be able to capitalise now racing off his last winning rating. Handicap debutants Katate Dori and Bentley's Return also warrant a second look.
Claims can be made for plenty including BENTLEY'S RETURN who makes a quick switch to handicaps following an encouraging third in novice company at Plumpton when last seen in December and he promises to do better still at this sort of trip. Wot You Wearing is building up a most admirable record and is feared, along with Hurricane Danny. Katate Dori and last year's winner Sami Bear complete the shortlist.
Progressive 7yo WOT YOU WEARING benefits from Freddie Gingell's very useful 5lb claim here and gets the nod ahead of Katate Dori.

4/9(+63%) | (5) Prince Maxi 4/9, 160,000 gns yearling, Sea The Stars colt. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart winning sprinter Margot Did, won Nunthorpe Stakes. 12/1, sixth of 10 in novice at Newmarket (10f, good to soft) on debut. Off 9 months. First run for yard after leaving Richard Hannon. Open to progress. Promise on his Newmarket debut before changing hands for 75,000gns; interesting on return. |

3rd (1) (9/1 -100%) Lovealot Bear |
9/1(-100%) | (1) Lovealot Bear 9/1, Well held in 2 bumpers in Ireland for Edmond Kent. 150/1, won 13-runner novice event at Kempton (8f) on flat debut 37 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Caused a major surprise with her 150-1 win at Kempton last month; respected under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/2 -13%) Sugar Hill |
9/2(-13%) | (8) Sugar Hill 9/2, Unreliable individual. 8/11, last of 7 at Chelmsford City (7f) when last seen in May, looking hard work throughout (walked to post again but sweated up, reluctant to start, came wide). First run for yard after leaving Charles Hills. Hood on 1st time, tongue strap on 1st time. Risky. RPRs in the 70s in three of his four runs and he's respected back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 -47%) Bloodhound |
11/1(-47%) | (3) Bloodhound 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Third of 7 in novice at this C&D (12/1) 21 days ago. Some promise over C&D on his return last month but he needs another major step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (28/1 -460%) Silverbridge |
28/1(-460%) | (7) Silverbridge 28/1, Promising individual. Third of 6 in juvenile hurdle at Wetherby (16f, heavy, 9/2) 15 days ago, finishing tired. Down in trip. Fair on the Flat, good on last Flat outing. Likely to improve. Sets standard on his best Flat form but he's been disappointing over hurdles this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (80/1 -220%) Reason To Pass |
80/1(-220%) | (6) Reason To Pass 80/1, Twice-raced maiden. 14/1, third of 8 in minor event at Kempton (11f) 30 days ago. Down in trip. First run for yard after leaving Hugo Palmer. RPRs in the 50s in both runs this winter and he needs plenty of progress for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (200/1 -203%) Oceana Orange |
200/1(-203%) | (9) Oceana Orange 200/1, Making GB/IRE Flat debut. 150/1, eighth of 10 in juvenile hurdle at Doncaster (16.6f, soft) on hurdles bow 42 days ago. First run for yard after leaving L J Morgan. Struggled in a bumper and maiden hurdle; needs a transformation on Flat/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (300/1 -200%) Wood Farm Wag |
300/1(-200%) | (11) Wood Farm Wag 300/1, Modest filly. 150/1, last of 9 in handicap at this course (7.2f). Off 108 days. Back up in trip. 12-race maiden who has struggled off basement marks here in her last two runs; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (250/1 -279%) Silk Purse |
250/1(-279%) | (10) Silk Purse 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. Last of 5 in novice (250/1) at Kempton (8f) 65 days ago. Has a lot to find after a short break and minor handicaps will be more suitable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LOVEALOT BEAR defied market expectation when causing an upset on her Flat bow at Kempton. David Evans' mare did well to score from a position towards the rear, and Jordan Williams' 5lb claim can help her to record back-to-back victories. The returning Prince Maxi is interesting on his opening bid on the all-weather and he's feared most if improving on last season's sixth-placed debut at Newmarket. Sugar Hill and Silverbridge possess the ability to feature too.
PRINCE MAXI showed ability in what has turned out to be a strong Newmarket novice at the Craven meeting and he's taken to make a winning start for George Scott. Lovealot Bear defied massive odds when making a winning Flat debut at Kempton but there's no reason to doubt the form so she's next best under a penalty, while useful-hurdler Parramount warrants respect on his belated Flat bow.
The most interesting contender is PRINCE MAXI, who showed promise at Newmarket last spring and that form has worked out really well.

1st (6) (6/1 +0%) Highstakesplayer |
6/1(+0%) | (6) Highstakesplayer 6/1, Progressed well over timber in 2021/22, scoring twice. Picked up where he left off to make a winning chase debut (easily) at Hereford on return last season and followed up under a penalty there the following week. Off since (15 months), however. Progressive sort who is 2-2 over fences; possibilities despite a lengthy layoff. |

2nd (9) (10/3 +63%) Iconic Muddle |
10/3(+63%) | (9) Iconic Muddle 10/3, Relatively low-mileage 11-y-o who resumed from 9 months off with a good second of 7 in handicap chase at Wincanton (20.2f, heavy) 34 days ago, staying on well. Player if seeing out longer trip. Close second over 2m4f on reappearance; new trip is the question mark. |

9/4(+0%) | (5) Killer Kane 9/4, Impressed when landing a gamble in this race last year (off 5 lb lower) and best effort since when third at Newbury 69 days ago. Shortlisted. Successful in the novice handicap on this card in 2022 and this race last year; respected. |

16/1(-60%) | (3) Francky Du Berlais 16/1, Won the 2022 Summer Plate at Market Rasen and some good efforts since, including when runner-up in cross country at Cheltenham 8 weeks ago. Should go well again. Made the frame in cross-country races at Cheltenham the last twice. |

|PU| (1) (9/1 +0%) Black Gerry |
9/1(+0%) | (1) Black Gerry 9/1, Won all 4 of his starts when completing last season, seeing off 5 rivals with another polished display in Plumpton handicap in April. However, never in the hunt both starts this season and back down in class now. Something to prove back up in distance, having never won beyond 2m3f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
FIRST LORD DE CUET lost little in defeat when finding only subsequent scorer Anglers Crag too strong at Market Rasen last month and he's effectively 2lb well-in before his revised mark kicks in. The veteran ticks plenty of the right boxes and an overdue first success over fences could be imminent. Wincanton runner-up Iconic Muddle is a potential improver now upped in distance and he must also enter calculations, along with the returning Highstakesplayer.
FIRST LORD DE CUET is one to be interested in again suddenly having pulled clear of the rest when second to a subsequent winner at Market Rasen last month. Killer Kane landed a gamble in this race last year and is an obvious threat on the back of a decent third at Newbury, while low-mileage 11-y-o Iconic Muddle made a promising comeback at Wincanton.
With useful claimer Freddie Gingell taking off 5lb, KILLER KANE (nap) looks poised to follow up last year's win.

1st (1) (5/2 +0%) Inishmot Prince |
5/2(+0%) | (1) Inishmot Prince 5/2, 5-time C&D winner. Three wins from 14 runs last year. Good second of 13 in handicap (8/1) at this course (6f) 21 days ago, nearest finish. Revised mark not beyond him on that evidence and respected back at 5f. Solid runs over 6f the last twice and the drop back to this trip is a plus; be bang there. |

2nd (5) (8/1 -14%) Maggie Mcgrath |
8/1(-14%) | (5) Maggie Mcgrath 8/1, Winner over C&D in November. 5/1 and blinkered for 1st time, 8¼ lengths seventh of 10 to Inishmot Prince in handicap at this C&D 63 days ago, fading. Cheekpieces back on. C&D winner was poor in blinkers last time; cheekpieces back on; chance if bouncing back. |

3rd (3) (17/2 -143%) Musical Tribute |
17/2(-143%) | (3) Musical Tribute 17/2, Winner at Chelmsford City in September. 66/1, first run since leaving D. J. Bunyan & G. O'Leary when good fourth of 13 in handicap at this course (6f) 21 days ago. Unexposed at this trip and of interest if building on that here. UK winner over 6f and a fine run on yard debut last time; first time at this trip; player. |

4th (2) (2/1 +40%) Collective Power |
2/1(+40%) | (2) Collective Power 2/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Cork in September. Creditable fifth of 13 in handicap at this course (6f, 8/1) 21 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Not taken lightly. Solid runs over 6f the last twice and the drop to this trip isn't an issue; play a part. |

5th (7) (13/2 +35%) Sam's Xpress |
13/2(+35%) | (7) Sam's Xpress 13/2, C&D winner. 9/2, 10¼ lengths ninth of 11 to Inishmot Prince in handicap at this course (6f) 70 days ago. Others more persuasive. Dual winner here; below form last time and has to get back to best. |

6th (8) (5/1 +17%) Havana Notion |
5/1(+17%) | (8) Havana Notion 5/1, Latest win here (6f) in January. 4/1, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at this course (6f) 9 days ago. No surprise to see him give another good account. Has won over 6f and run well in defeat at this trip; 1lb out of weights but can run well. |

7th (4) (20/1 -43%) Alexander John |

8th (6) (100/1 -257%) Penguin Island |
100/1(-257%) | (6) Penguin Island 100/1, 50/1, last of 13 in handicap at this course (7f) 49 days ago, in rear and never involved. Back down in trip. Won over 5f in UK; beaten a long way over 7f here last time and major improvement needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There was very little to choose between INISHMOT PRINCE, Musical Tribute and Collective Power here last month in the 6f event won by Dream Today and perhaps the former can add to his impressive course record. The Tom McCourt-trained gelding appears equally effective over five or six and bids for a ninth victory at this venue. Musical Tribute outran odds of 66/1 on that occasion and could be suited by this drop down to the minimum trip on just her third Irish start. Havana Notion won over this trip at Tipperary last summer and gained reward for some consistent efforts at this venue when scoring over 6f last month.
MUSICAL TRIBUTE produced a promising effort, not least with a view to having a crack at this trip when fourth on yard debut here (6f) 3 weeks ago and she could just be worth chancing to build on that here. The admirable Inishmot Prince and Collective Power are others fancied to be in the shake up.
Though MUSICAL TRIBUTE drops to this trip for the first time, she has early speed and can overturn form with Inishmot Prince

Mark has crept up a little but he's a player with a repeat. Four-time course winner who finished well to go close over C&D last time; shortlisted. |

2nd (1) (7/2 +30%) Wadacre Gomez |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Wadacre Gomez 7/2, Three wins from 12 runs last year. Career best when winning 6-runner handicap (5/2) at Chelmsford City (10f) 8 days ago, having run of race. May find things that bit tougher in this bigger field under a penalty but certainly not discounted. Made it 4-12 on AW with a comfortable win at Chelmsford last week; respected under penalty. |

Still, he remains early days with this yard and not one to write off from revised mark. Won at Lingfield on his stable debut but was disappointing at Chelmsford last month. |

7th (4) (11/1 +0%) Ernie's Valentine |
11/1(+0%) | (4) Ernie's Valentine 11/1, Latest win here (8.6f) in December. 11/1, respectable seventh of 13 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 10 days ago, denied a run 1f out and running on. Return to this longer trip will hold no fears. Didn't get any luck at Southwell last time and he looks interesting back up in trip. |

40/1(-344%) | (12) Light Up Our Stars 40/1, Course winner. 9/1, creditable second of 9 in handicap at this course (8.6f) 14 days ago, keeping on having been better placed than most. Comes here operating from same mark but he may find things tougher back up in class. Eight-time AW winner who was a close second here last time; dangerous back up in trip. |

12/1(-20%) | (9) My Little Queens 12/1, Two wins from 6 runs last year. Probably needed the run following 6 months off when ninth of 11 in handicap (66/1) at Newcastle (8f) 24 days ago. Better showing anticipated returned to this longer trip. Five-time turf winner but she's 1-10 on AW and was well held on her recent return. |

25/1(-178%) | (11) Law Supreme 25/1, Eased in weights and ran well to finish runner-up here/Southwell last month. May of found another quick turnaround against him when below form seventh of 12 in a C&D handicap thereafter and he's not one to write off returning from 27 days off. Ex-French 5yo; runner-up twice for new yard this winter but was quiet over C&D last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WADACRE GOMEZ won a shade cosily when making all at Chelmsford last week and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to prevent Charlie Johnston's colt from following up. Master Of Combat looked close to his best when a close-up third at Southwell recently and he is likely to be in the thick of the action once more, with a return to this distance promising to suit. Warren Hill may fare best of the rest.
Having eased a little in the weights, ARCADIAN NIGHTS found only a far less exposed sort too good on his latest outing over C&D 5 weeks ago and he could be worth siding with to build on that now. Master of Combat, Ernie's Valentine and Warren Hill head up the dangers in what rates a very competitive affair.
An open race in which the vote goes to WADACRE GOMEZ, who found more progress with his all-the-way win at Chelmsford last week.

150/1(-200%) | (8) Snapdance 150/1, Didn't offer a great deal when sixth in a Chepstow bumper at couple of months ago. Unlikely to feature. Only sixth of seven at Chepstow two months ago. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
OFF THE JURY was purchased for 170,000 euros a few days after winning between the flags in Ireland, and suggested that it could be money well spent when an eyecatching second in a Doncaster bumper. He can make it second-time lucky under Rules, although Electric Mason won't make it easy for him because his Ascot third was very encouraging. Ken Roy is a 92,000-euro half-brother to a Listed-placed hurdler in France and he is the most interesting of the newcomers.
OFF THE JURY, a point winner, caught the eye on debut at Doncaster a month ago and looks the one to be with. Ken Roy is a notable newcomer.
The pick of the runners with experience is OFF THE JURY. Ken Roy and Les's Jersey Royal are respected newcomers.

1st (4) (Evens +39%) Tarsus |
Evens(+39%) | (4) Tarsus Evens, Fairly useful gelding. Winner of maiden here (5f) in December. 2/1, creditable fourth of 10 in minor event at this C&D 24 days ago. Entitled to be thereabouts. Rated 90; still a fair bit to find with Harry's Bar even getting plenty of weight for age. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/11 -82%) Harry's Bar |
10/11(-82%) | (2) Harry's Bar 10/11, Smart gelding. 4-time C&D winner. 16/1, 4 lengths eighth of 12 to Dun Na Sead in Group 3 Mercury Stakes at this course (5f) in October. Landed this race 12 months ago and he's the one to beat again. Has won this race in two of the last three years; freshened up and be difficult to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (16/1 +20%) Army Of India |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Army Of India 16/1, Fairly useful handicapper for Julie Camacho but below best all 4 starts upon joining present stable, latterly when tenth of 14 in claimer at this course (7f) 65 days ago. Good deal to prove at present. Not at his best lately and faces a tough task against the two principals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (150/1 -127%) Old Chicago |
150/1(-127%) | (3) Old Chicago 150/1, Magna Grecia colt. Last of 8 in maiden (50/1) at this course (5f) on debut 9 days ago, badly outpaced and never involved. This should reveal more but he can only be watched. Well beaten in a maiden on recent debut and is way out of his depth against these. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This looks a great opportunity for HARRY'S BAR to add to his 15 career wins. The selection won seven times for James Fanshawe and has recorded all eight wins for Ado McGuinness at this venue including twice in this race. The nine-year-old has built up a good association with Cian MacRedmond and this represents a significant drop in class after tackling the Group 3 Mercury Stakes last time. Tarsus caused a 66/1 shock in a sprint maiden here in December and showed that was no fluke by shaping well on both outings since. Army Of India won three times on the all-weather in the UK but has plenty to do at the weights, while Old Chicago needs to progress considerably from his debut here last week.
Last year's winner and multiple C&D winner HARRY'S BAR will find this much less demanding than his Group 3 assignment here when last seen in October and he should prove tough to beat. Tarsus comfortably rates the lead threat.
If HARRY'S BAR is back to form after his break then he should have too much for Tarsus and win this event for the third time.

11/8(+61%) | (8) Optician 11/8, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap (15/8) at this C&D 20 days ago. Thriving for new yard and boasts solid claims of completing the hat-trick. 2-2 for this yard in the new tongue-tie and did it readily here last time; raised 3lb. |

2nd (3) (12/1 +14%) At Liberty |
12/1(+14%) | (3) At Liberty 12/1, 11/2, creditable third of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 27 days ago. Up in trip. Has more to offer for this stable. Signs of a return to form last time and well worth another go over this far. |

3rd (7) (18/1 -100%) Vision Of Hope |
18/1(-100%) | (7) Vision Of Hope 18/1, 7/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f) 29 days ago. Not a forlorn hope. 1m4f AW winner and successful over hurdles; third in first-time visor over 1m6f latest. |

4th (5) (22/1 -57%) Chagall |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Chagall 22/1, Four wins from 17 runs last year. Seventh of 9 in handicap (11/2) at Lingfield (10f, AW) 16 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Back up in trip. Not ruled out. Ridden by an inexperienced partner when below par last time, and in good form previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (33/1 -136%) Starfighter |
33/1(-136%) | (4) Starfighter 33/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in September. 5/1, 3 lengths sixth of 8 to Rubeus in handicap at this C&D 20 days ago, having run of race. Others make more appeal. A three-time winner here but only sixth on his latest visit when behind Rubeus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (13/2 -117%) Optik |
13/2(-117%) | (11) Optik 13/2, C&D winner. Didn't need to improve to win 9-runner minor event at Newcastle (10.2f, 10/11) 15 days ago, always holding on. Back up in trip. Has to be taken seriously. 8lb rise has kicked in but he's on a roll and had a bit in hand at Newcastle last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (25/1 -79%) Basilette |
25/1(-79%) | (12) Basilette 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Modest winner at 16f in bumpers. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (12/1) 88 days ago, not knocked about. Bumper winner; off since November when a staying-on fourth over C&D; still lightly raced. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (12/1 -118%) Pysanka |
12/1(-118%) | (9) Pysanka 12/1, Didn't need to improve to win 10-runner handicap (5/1) at this C&D 25 days ago, having run of race. This could prove tougher. The horse he beat over C&D last month has continued to run well; made all that day. |

9th (6) (22/1 -100%) Beau Vintage |
22/1(-100%) | (6) Beau Vintage 22/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable 2½ lengths third of 8 to Optician in handicap (10/1) at this C&D 20 days ago, clear of rest. Cheekpieces back on. Has yet to win but seemed to see out this new trip well enough when third to Optician. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (16/1 -100%) Rubeus |
16/1(-100%) | (2) Rubeus 16/1, Won 8-runner handicap at this C&D (12/1) 20 days ago, well positioned. A winner here last time when benefiting from a forward ride with the blinkers back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (16/1 -100%) Wilkie |
16/1(-100%) | (10) Wilkie 16/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2021. Eighth of 11 in handicap at this course (9.5f, 7/1) 55 days ago, not ideally placed. Back up in trip. Becoming well treated and shouldn't be written off. Runner-up over C&D in October and would have found 9.4f here last time too sharp a test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (11/2 +39%) Caruso |
11/2(+39%) | (1) Caruso 11/2, Thrice-raced maiden. First run since leaving James Fanshawe when eighth of 9 in maiden at Kempton (7f, 100/1) 16 days ago, slowly away. Makes handicap debut. Must bounce back. Lightly raced but goes handicapping under 10st and has enough to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
OPTICIAN has been a revelation since joining the Shaun Lycett stable and a 3lb rise for his most recent success over C&D could prove lenient as he looks to land the hat-trick. The four-year-old is preferred to the likes of fellow C&D scorer Pysanka, as well as Optik, who arrives on a four-timer for his in-form connections. Others to note include At Liberty, Rubeus and Starfighter.
This is a strong race for the grade with several last-time-out winners, two of whom arrive on a sequence. The four-timer chasing OPTIK (who had a bit to spare last time) is marginally preferred to Optician, who bids to make it three from three for his current yard. Rubeus is also of interest.
A competitive Class 6. OPTIK (nap) is on a roll and, while it was a close call last time, he was only put into the race late on.

3/1(-140%) | (5) Tradecraft 3/1, Out of a Flat winner and offered plenty to work on when second in an Ascot bumper 76 days ago. Should do better for that initial experience and sets a reasonable standard. Promising second at Ascot 11 weeks ago and commands respect with progress on the cards. |

3rd (4) (5/2 -25%) The Bluesman |
5/2(-25%) | (4) The Bluesman 5/2, €140,000 3-y-o, £200,000 4-y-o, Crillon gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including French hurdler/chaser Fiumicino and fairly useful French hurdler/chaser Niquos. Third sole start in Irish points (Nov 12). Expensive recruit who makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. Solid effort in Irish point; sold for £200,000 and has joined Paul Nicholls; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/1 +25%) French Ship |
9/1(+25%) | (8) French Ship 9/1, French Navy gelding. Half-brother to fair 1m winner Capitulation. Dam, 1¼m winner, half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Sky Khan. Worthy of respect if the market speaks in his favour. Half-brother to a 1m winner, out of 1m2f winner; heed the market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 +25%) Night Stalker |
12/1(+25%) | (9) Night Stalker 12/1, Positive start when third at Ludlow on debut and perhaps found the race too hot at Cheltenham next time. Solid place claims. Drops back in class but the form of his debut effort has mostly worked out poorly. |

10/3(+49%) | (10) White Riot 10/3, The Grey Gatsby gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners on Flat, including useful 9.5f winner in France Elizar. Dam unraced. Well worth a market check. £50,000 2yo; useful Flat pedigree; yard is in good form in bumpers; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (40/1 -186%) J J Moon |
40/1(-186%) | (2) J J Moon 40/1, Hinted at ability when fifth in a Wincanton bumper 45 days ago but a marked step forward is required to take a serious hand in this. Only a modest fifth at Wincanton but is likely to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (300/1 -500%) Noble Recall |
300/1(-500%) | (3) Noble Recall 300/1, £4,500 3-y-o, Telescope gelding. Dam unraced. Not an obvious sort on paper. £4,500 3yo; stable is 0-17 in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (50/1 +0%) Bluethorn Boy |
50/1(+0%) | (1) Bluethorn Boy 50/1, Blue Bresil gelding. Half-brother to modest hurdler Ten Past Midnight. Dam (h104) 2¾m-3m hurdle winner (stayed 27f). Yard has very low strike-rate in bumpers in last five seasons. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TRADECRAFT only found one too good on his first taste of competitive action at Ascot in November and the son of Blue Bresil looks to have every chance of going one better here. The Bluesman was purchased for 200,000 pounds after finishing second on his sole start between the flags so he has to be of interest. Others to consider are Night Stalker and White Riot.
Although only third in a point, THE BLUESMAN is well bred and was acquired for £200,000, so he's a likely candidate to make a successful Rules debut having joined a top yard. Tradecraft is an obvious danger on the back of a positive start at Ascot and Andashan isn't easily dismissed.
As regards the runners with experience, TRADECRAFT and The Bluesman look best. White Riot is the pick of the newcomers.

150/1(-127%) | (8) Tenth Amendment 150/1, One win from 47 Flat runs. Thirty four runs since last win in 2018. Last of 4 in minor event at this C&D (150/1) 21 days ago. Just 1-60 under all rules and has no chance from 26lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
IMPERO stayed further than this trip on the turf at Killarney last summer and is tempting on his first crack at 2m on Polytrack. He returned from a break with a fine second place over 1m4f at this track last month. Tyson Fury kept on for second behind a classy sort over an extended 10f at this venue last month. He stays 1m4f and is interesting over this extra distance. Longclaw really served it up to a 101-rated horse over C&D last month before going down by a short head. He was able to dictate at a slow pace in that small field, so the form has to be taken with a pinch of salt. He does get the trip, though, and he did battle hard in the closing stages. Given that Raving Royal is trained by Willie Mullins, she has to be given a market check as a lightly-raced sort who is making her Polytrack debut. Satono Chevalier takes a marked step up in trip after being a beaten favourite on his last couple of starts here.
LONGCLAW was only just denied by a useful sort in a minor event over C&D 3 weeks ago and is preferred to Tyson Fury and Satono Chevalier, who both have their stamina to prove.
Maybe NEXT WEEK, an eyecatcher in a 1m4f maiden last time can go in on handicap debut now stepping up to a trip he stays well.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This can go the way of TOPLIGHT (fourth), who may have just under a length to find with Rockley Point (second) from their most recent clash over C&D last month but Chelsea Banham's charge has won here four times, which bodes well as he bids to reverse the form. Red Walls didn't seem to be suited by dropping back to this distance at Lingfield recently, but he was an authoritative winner over 6f on his penultimate start and cannot be overlooked.
ROCKLEY POINT has been in good order for a while and, having only been denied by a neck at Newcastle a week ago, he's worth a chance to go one better. Toplight and Red Walls are the only other pair that arrive in form, so they're the main dangers.
This can go to RED WALLS, who has won three times this winter and was a creditable third in a 5f handicap at Lingfield on Sunday.

6/1(-50%) | (3) Escobedo 6/1, Creditable third of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW, 16/1) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he's likely to be in the mix once more. 1-24 under rules; ran well in a better race last time, but outside draw not ideal. |

8th (9) (16/1 +20%) Dark Company |
16/1(+20%) | (9) Dark Company 16/1, Untrustworthy individual. Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 22/1) 11 days ago. Readily passed over. 6lb lower than when last successful, but isn't easy to win with (3-40). |

66/1(-100%) | (5) Midgetonamission 66/1, 12/1, last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW), folding. Off 10 months ahead of this debut for new yard and she's opposable. Will do well to win this from her wide draw on stable debut after 319 days off. |

11th (6) (5/1 +0%) Alice Kitty |
5/1(+0%) | (6) Alice Kitty 5/1, C&D winner. Ninth of 10 in handicap (40/1) at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 25 days ago. Sports blinkers for the first time in this sphere and she needs considering off a reduced mark with Simon Walker booked. Modest lately, but 6lb lower than when winning over C&D last May and Simon Walker booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (150/1 -127%) San Juan |
150/1(-127%) | (12) San Juan 150/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. 25/1, last of 11 in minor event at Chepstow (7.1f, good to firm). Off 8 months and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Easy to oppose racing beyond 7f for the first time on his 33rd outing after 244 days off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Reverberation scored by just under a length when justifying favouritism over a mile here last month and he should go well off a 3lb higher rating now up in trip. However, the vote goes to PRINCE HECTOR, who was only headed inside the final furlong when finishing third over 1m4f at Wolverhampton last time and could appreciate the drop in distance off the same mark to go two places better. Escobedo completes the shortlist.
It could be worth chancing ALICE KITTY, who hasn't been firing on all cylinders of late but she's now 6 lb below the mark off which she hit the target over this C&D last spring and the booking of Simon Walker is another positive factor. Reverberation is 2-2 here and remains fairly treated, so he has to be high on any shortlist, while Escobedo is best of the rest.
It may be worth taking a chance with ALICE KITTY who has dropped 6lb lower than when winning over C&D last May. Simon Walker rides.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Joseph O'Brien's EMERALD ECLIPSE was backed down to favouritism for his debut over C&D in January and did little wrong in finishing well for second, beaten half a length. There should be improvement forthcoming and his stable has been firing in the winners at Dundalk. His stablemate Tranquil Steps certainly catches the eye on paper ahead of her debut. She is a half-sister to a Group 1-winning sprinter so must be checked for market strength. As the sole winner in the field, Take Me To Church has to give 6lb to all of his rivals. He sets a useful standard with a mark of 82 having won an auction maiden over a furlong shorter at this track. Willie Browne and Seamie Heffernan have a good record when teaming up together, so debutant Sir Sagacious shouldn't be disregarded. Sobriety Blue was a couple of places behind Emerald Eclipse over C&D and isn't out of it.
TAKE ME TO CHURCH didn't have to improve to beat a subsequent winner here in November and is the form pick under a penalty. Emerald Eclipse made a promising start when runner-up in a C&D maiden 2 weeks ago and is an obvious threat, while his stablemate Tranquil Steps is a newcomer to note.
Just denied in a C&D maiden on debut two weeks ago when well-backed, EMERALD ECLIPSE(nap) can go one better now.

2nd (2) (13/2 -86%) Flowering |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Flowering 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 3 in handicap at Kempton (12f, 7/4) 18 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Not sure that this drop back in trip is what she wants. More upped to 1m4f latest, despite finishing last of three; is one to consider. |

Likely to benefit from this step up in trip and she's a live contender. Much more on handicap debut; remains open to improvement going up in trip again; player. |

5th (4) (11/2 -10%) Dire Wolf |
11/2(-10%) | (4) Dire Wolf 11/2, Winner at Lingfield in January. Third of 5 in handicap (5/1) at Newcastle (8f) 18 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces have clearly helped; is 2lb lower tonight and one to consider back up in trip. |

6th (3) (20/1 +20%) Where Is The Love |
20/1(+20%) | (3) Where Is The Love 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, last of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 55 days ago. Improvement needed now handicapping but that's not out of the question. Watch the betting for clues. Half-sister to two winners; starts handicap life at a lowly level; the market will guide. |

7th (6) (11/8 +39%) Something To Do |
11/8(+39%) | (6) Something To Do 11/8, 4/1 and blinkered for 1st time, career best when winning 6-runner handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 7 days ago. Leading claims under a penalty. Will be 4lb higher than under tonight's penalty from tomorrow and holds obvious claims. |

8th (1) (25/1 +11%) Ventura Empress |
25/1(+11%) | (1) Ventura Empress 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 23 days ago. Significantly up in trip and she looks vulnerable. No better since handicapping; needs to settle better going beyond 1m for the first time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
First-time blinkers eked out the improvement needed for Something To Do to shed his maiden tag at Lingfield last time and he can go well in his double bid, despite carrying a 6lb penalty. However, preference is for FLOWERING, who finished last of the three at Kempton over 1m4f on her handicap bow last month, but she could have more to offer off a 1lb lower rating after only four starts. Dire Wolf is another to note.
LUNAR ROCKS was strong at the finish when fourth upped to a mile at Kempton recently and, with this further step up in trip a potentially good move, he could be the answer. Something To Do has improved since being gelded/switched to handicaps and, effectively 4 lb 'well-in' here, he is greatly respected. Handicap-debutante Where Is The Love is best of the rest.
A half-sister to numerous winners, LUNAR ROCKS should be suited by the longer trip again. Something To Do rates the main danger.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There could be another victory in HURRICANE HELEN. She made a great start to life with Christopher Timmons over C&D in December and a 6lb rise shouldn't stop her if she is in the same mood. Eyes were drawn to her a long way out when she won in December. Eighty Eight was gambled on at this track last week (10/1 in to 4/1), but just found one rival half a length too good. The horse that beat him went in again two days later to strengthen the form. He has a shot at defying his big weight as he travelled notably well last week. Ten To Ten showed significant improvement to finish third over C&D before Christmas when only collared in the closing stages. He has a tougher draw this time, but another good run is likely. Prince Of Abington and Cousin Shay are recent winners who could get into contention.
Though he's not one to set your watch by, LEABALAND failed by a whisker over C&D on his latest start in December and he is appealing on the back of that solid effort. Last-time-out winners Prince of Abington and Cousin Shay may emerge as the main dangers.
This can go the way of C&D winner LEABALAND, who was only narrowly denied by a well treated sort last time and that form has worked out

11/2(-22%) | (4) Mutasawi 11/2, Ran best race (fair form) when beaten only by a promising debutante at Ripon (5f) in July. Failed to repeat that effort at Musselbugh the following month, though. 7/1(+50%) | (5) Red Troop 7/1, 17/2, looked badly in need of the experience when ninth of 11 in maiden at Kempton (6f) on debut. Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Alan King. Well beaten in one start for Alan King at Kempton last summer; gelded since. |

40/1(-150%) | (6) Takeityouremine 40/1, £45,000 yearling, Invincible Army filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including 5f/6f winner Aspar and 7f-1m winner Engles Rock. Dam lightly-raced half-sister to useful winner up to 1¼m Rakaan. Stable has a fine record with newcomers, but yard fields a stronger candidate elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Al Wosol and Blazes Boylan both upset the favourite to shed their maiden tags in their respective latest outings, with a slight preference for the former's victory at Wolverhampton. However, they both carry a penalty and may struggle conceding weight to MUTASAWI, who has been gelded since he was last seen and he showed more than enough in his first three starts to suggest he could take a race of this nature.
With further improvement on the cards, BLAZES BOYLAN is selected to follow up last month's C&D success. Al Wosol proved a different proposition to his debut when making a winning start for Archie Watson at Wolverhampton recently and is considered the main threat ahead of the more exposed pair Mutasawi and Macanudo.
Narrow preference is for BLAZES BOYLAN who made all to just hold off a long-odds-on shot over C&D last month.

11/2(-22%) | (2) Nibras Rainbow 11/2, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Good second of 14 in handicap at this C&D (3/1) 56 days ago. Merits consideration. Hit the crossbar last 2 runs and only beaten by in-form well treated rival latest. |

25/1(+0%) | (5) Medici Pass 25/1, 16/1, bit below form eighth of 14 in handicap at this C&D. Off 98 days. Others more persuasive. Is 0-7; hasn't shown enough so far and off 3 months; drawn widest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This is competitive for the grade. James Ryan is an apprentice going places and his booking for HALE BOPP looks significant. This six-year-old gelding has put in late work for fourth and second in his last couple of appearances over C&D. Not much more would be needed to grab his sixth career success. Nibras Rainbow has been beaten the same distance (half a length) into second in his two most recent starts over C&D, so he is a major player. Zero Fighter ran a stormer at 40/1 when beaten by a head into second last month. He has to back it up now, but he had winning form for his previous trainer. Rock Basher ran well for a long way off the front before finishing second last month. Oisin McSweeney gets the leg-up again and he has been among the winners in Dundalk recently.
TRISHULI RIVER hasn't done much wrong since switched to the all-weather and her latest effort over this C&D a fortnight ago was eye-catching. She was behind Rock Basher that day but may well reverse those placings, provided she doesn't get caught so far back this time. Rock Basher should give another account, while Nibras Rainbow is also accorded respect.
It may be worth taking a flyer on KUDBEGOOD who has dropped down to a career-low mark and his last 2 runs have been okay

9/4(+18%) | (4) Cabeza De Llave 9/4, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 3/1, creditable fifth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago and he's dangerous to discount. Hold-up performer who's well handicapped; this may well be run to suit and is shortlisted. |

2nd (3) (15/8 +25%) Make Clear |
15/8(+25%) | (3) Make Clear 15/8, 9/2, won 6-runner handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 5 days ago, having run of race. Should make her presence felt under a penalty. Good record on Polytrack; needs more to defy the 5lb penalty but that's quite possible. |

3rd (1) (6/1 -9%) Josies Kid |
6/1(-9%) | (1) Josies Kid 6/1, C&D winner in November. Unseated rider in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW, 20/1) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he's in with a shout. C&D win three months ago came off a 2lb higher mark; no obvious reason he won't go well. |

6th (5) (11/1 -144%) Jacquelina |
11/1(-144%) | (5) Jacquelina 11/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. 10/1, good third of 6 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 14 days ago, well positioned. Shouldn't be far away. Doesn't win often and hasn't got the best record round here but she's generally reliable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Turned out again quickly after a comfortable success at Lingfield on Sunday, MAKE CLEAR should have plenty more improvement forthcoming, despite a 5lb penalty. This will be her first run over C&D since finishing runner-up on debut last May, and she gets the vote ahead of Cabeza De Llave and Boom Boom Pow, who has finished runner-up on three of her last four outings.
BOOM BOOM POW responded well to the fitting of a visor when finding just one too good over 6f here last month and, with this drop back to the minimum trip a potentially good move, he looks the way to go. Make Clear got the job done at Lingfield recently and she is a much-respected main danger ahead of Cabeza de Llave.
Speedy pair Make Clear and Jacquelina renew Lingfield rivalry and may set this up for hold-up performer CABEZA DE LLAVE (nap).

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Chavajod had HIGHTIMEYOUWON and Ransom close behind in the places when recording a second C&D win this winter and the handicapper hasn't been too severe with a combined rise of 10lb for those victories. Hightimeyouwon won three times for Ado McGuinness last year and having been a model of consistency here this winter, is narrowly preferred. Barbapapa recorded a second C&D win on his penultimate start and had six of these rivals behind when subsequently beating all bar Cheers Again just before Christmas. Free Solo had the selection's stablemate Exquisite Acclaim less than a length back in third when scoring over seven here last month but may not be as effective over the mile.
HIGHTIMEYOUWON finished well when runner-up to Chavajod over C&D 3 weeks ago and he's worth a chance to turn the form around despite a tricky draw in 14. Excquisite Acclaim and Free Solo, who also dominated the finish here last time, are also worthy of consideration.
This can go the way of RANSOM who has become very well treated on his form here from last winter and showed signs of a revival latest

3/1(+0%) | (4) Notre Dame 3/1, Took another small step forward when second of 9 in nursery at this C&D (well-backed 10/3) 50 days ago, nearest finish. Can give another good account. Much happier on Polytrack than turf judging by her two efforts here; set to run well again. |

May well have more to offer at this trip so every chance she will be in the mix again. Will be 2lb lower from tomorrow and needs to find a bit more on her Polytrack debut. |

6th (3) (9/2 +10%) Upper Hand |
9/2(+10%) | (3) Upper Hand 9/2, 5/1, respectable second of 11 in nursery at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 66 days ago. First run for yard after leaving John Butler (8,000 gns) and a return to this trip will surely prove beneficial is he can brush up on his slow starts (has also been gelded). Gelded since last seen; interesting to see how he goes in the market for his new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Narrowly denied over C&D in December, NOTRE DAME may be able to gain compensation on this occasion for her in-form connections. A 2lb rise could prove lenient as she looks to get the better off Southwell winner Lady In Havana and Upper Hand, who must be monitored for market support on his first run for a new stable. Bitcoin Profit gives the impression that stepping up in trip will suit.
Tough to rule out any of the septet but the vote goes to FLOATING VOTER, who possibly found a third run of the month one too many when behind Lady In Havana at Southwell 10 days ago and Ollie Sangster's gelding can double his tally with cheekpieces replacing blinkers worn last time. Notre Dame and Upper Hand are another couple also fancied to be in the shake-up.
A tight handicap can go to BITCOIN PROFIT, who's well up to winning off this mark. Lord Danielson is capable of better if settling.

DREAMS FLED AWAY beat Areana by three lengths over C&D last month with Glyde Ranger keeping on well into third. The Shane Crawley-trained gelding has gone up 7lb for that success but appeared to win with a bit in hand and can follow up with champion jockey Colin Keane a significant booking. John McConnell's team are back in much better form exemplified by the improved run of Arctic Blaze here last month when fourth behind Moondharrig (won again since), while Tom The Plasterer, Hi Sur Multi and Wishes And Dreams are others to consider. The latter wasn't beaten far last time when third to Golden Sandbanks and the addition of cheekpieces and Shane Foley in the saddle could eke out more improvement.
DREAMS FLED overcame some trouble in running to score comfortably over C&D last time and, while the handicapper has had his say, he's fancied to uphold the form with Areana, who is having her second start for her current yard. Tom The Plasterer is also of interest.
Last time out winner, DREAMS FLED AWAY, may be capable of going back-to-back after a 3l success here last time

Remains well treated on the pick of her form. 7f winner here in November and shaped as though worth another go at this trip last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Running with first-time cheekpieces applied, CLIPSHAM GOLD is already a three-timer winner over this sort of trip and has a live chance at the weights, with the drop back to this distance sure to suit. Having won over this C&D off the same rating in November, Wadacre Grace is an obvious player based on peak form, while Capuchinero is a potential improver now she steps back up in distance.
A trappy contest, with the consistent CLIPSHAM GOLD fancied to gain a deserved success, the return to 1m appealing as a positive move for Dylan Cunha's mare. Wadacre Grace and Capuchinero can complete the placings.
This may become tactical and if so C&D winner WADACRE GRACE could be in the ideal position if her usual forcing tactics are employed.

Pick of last season's efforts came over further and he's worth market check dropped in trip for return. Interesting to see how he goes in market coming right down in trip after six months off. |

2nd (5) (4/1 -100%) H Key Lails |
4/1(-100%) | (5) H Key Lails 4/1, Narrowly failed to land a gamble when second of 7 in handicap at this C&D 8 days ago, collared only dying strides. The one to beat if in same form this time. Short price over C&D last Thursday, when a clear second; holds leading claims on that. |

3rd (1) (7/1 +30%) Give A Little Back |
7/1(+30%) | (1) Give A Little Back 7/1, One win from 23 Flat runs. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 10/1) 41 days ago, not ideally placed. Tongue strap on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter. Generally consistent for three yards and needs a second look in first-time cheekpieces. |

4th (4) (15/8 +32%) Split Elevens |
15/8(+32%) | (4) Split Elevens 15/8, Unreliable type. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 10/3, shaped with some encouragement when sixth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 26 days ago, never nearer after very slow break. Sound place claims if keeping his quirks in check. Arrives in good form but can miss the break and does need things to pan out just so. |

5th (3) (14/1 -100%) Flying Panther |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Flying Panther 14/1, Latest win at Kempton in September but no better than mid-field in 4 starts since. Hood back on. Slipped back to last winning mark and bounce back is required. Twice run well below market expectations for his new yard; hood going back on should help. |

6th (2) (11/2 +45%) Sienna Breeze |
11/2(+45%) | (2) Sienna Breeze 11/2, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021. 22/1, bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 42 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Lucy Wadham 2,000 gns. Others preferred. Regressed for Lucy Wadham last season but ran well all three starts here, which gives hope. |

7th (7) (12/1 -85%) Struck Gold |
12/1(-85%) | (7) Struck Gold 12/1, Won at Wolverhampton in November before following up over C&D later same month. Looked very hard ride without headgear when fFifth of 6 in handicap at this C&D (9/2) 22 days ago. Blinkers back on but has bit to prove after that. Below-par here three weeks ago but gives his yard a decent hand alongside Split Elevens. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
H KEY LAILS was mugged near the line over this course and distance eight days ago but looks worth another chance given he can run off the same mark (1lb well-in). Give A Little Back is an interesting one to monitor in the betting, with the first-time tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination being a possible source of improvement. Split Elevens rates the pick of the rest.
H KEY LAILS stands out on recent efforts following last week's narrow C&D second. Split Elevens is a complicated sort but went through the remainder of his Lingfield race well enough after blowing the start last time and is rated as the biggest threat, with Give A Little Back a fair pick to complete the placings.
Support for Lough Leane would look noteworthy but otherwise H KEY LAILS has plenty in his favour after last week's near-miss here.
Ths is the racecard key.
