13:30 Ffos Las Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Although TEDLEY wasn't quite up to class 2 company when fourth at Warwick last month, his previous runner-up effort here in December sets a fair standard. The Sixties Icon gelding rates the one to beat on that evidence, with his main threat looking to be I See The Sea. Despite some less than fluent jumping, the five-year-old has performed with credit in maiden contests at Bangor and Ludlow. Any market support for multiple point-to-point winner Gouazec on his Rules bow could well be worth noting.

TEDLEY was somewhat disappointing last time but had run a cracker under this pilot here previously and is taken to get off the mark. I See The Sea and Willsburg rate the principal dangers.

Preference is for I SEE THE SEA, who wasn't beaten far on his first two hurdling starts and should still have a bigger run in him.

13:45 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Deteriorating ground conditions might have been the undoing of COUNTRY LADY when third at this venue in December. Back on a sounder surface, and pitched into a handicap for the first time, it would come as no surprise were Paul Nicholls' mare to take a step forward today. Tribesmans Glory kept on at the one pace over 1m7f here last month and the son of Jeremy can post an improved effort returned to further, while Nordic Tiger is also noted.

COUNTRY LADY remains open to improvement and looks fairly treated on her handicap bow. She is taken to land the opener. Tribesmans Glory and Nordic Tiger can also make their presence felt.

Paul Nicholls' mare COUNTRY LADY should be capable of paying her way off this sort of mark in handicaps.

14:00 Ffos Las Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sawpit Sienna did well to hold on when all out at Taunton last month after looking to make her move early. A 6lb rise in the ratings shouldn't prevent another bold bid from Samuel Drinkwater's mare, but she's likely to be priced accordingly. With that in mind, it may be worth taking a punt on HEURE DE GLOIRE, who shaped encouragingly when fourth at Uttoxeter on Saturday. Ellis Collier now gets to claim a handy 7lb, which should be a huge help to the seven-year-old. Pageant Material also warrants a second look.

A progressive handicapper on the Flat, SPICED RUM has shown encouragement in her 2 starts over hurdles, with the form of her fourth at Kempton last time working out very well (the first 3 all successful next time). She can open her hurdles account as she goes handicapping, with last-time-out winner Sawpit Sienna feared most, ahead of Heure de Gloire.

The most interesting runner is heavy-ground Flat winner SPICED RUM (nap), who has made a promising start to her hurdling career.

14:15 Wincanton Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BRAVE JEN was touched off in a Listed event on her penultimate outing and although subsequently pulled up in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury, she looks to have been found a golden opportunity eased in class. Larchmont Lass is another that should benefit from a drop in grade and must feature prominently in calculations, along with Goodtimecrew and Betty's Tiara. Asian Spice goes in search of her hat-trick having notched a brace of Exeter handicap wins in November, but this looks tougher under a double penalty.

Having shaped well on hurdling debut, BRAVE JEN was pitched in too deep last time, so she's capable of getting off the mark back in calmer waters. Betty's Tiara is open to improvement and looks a feasible danger, while Larchmont Lass could feature if the longer trip brings more out of her.

The Challow was always going to be a big ask for BRAVE JEN and the form of her previous second in a Listed race earns her the vote.

14:30 Ffos Las Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TUNE IN A BOX had little difficulty in defying a 9lb rise in the ratings at Wetherby recently and a 7lb penalty in this contest is effectively negated by Cameron Iles' claim. Tom Lacey's charge is hard to oppose, with a quick turnaround looking the only potential stumbling block. Balkardy has posted a string of runner-up efforts this season and the seven-year-old may have to play second fiddle once more, with Bobo Mac rated next best.

Tom Lacey's progressive novice TUNE IN A BOX looks more than capable of maintaining his unbeaten record in handicaps, a 7 lb penalty for last week's Wetherby success appealing as more than manageable given his ongoing improvement. Balkardy may find one too good for the fifth start in succession, with Slip Road also considered having proven he retains ability last time.

It's hard to get away from TUNE IN A BOX, who began his handicap career with two emphatic wins and is probably still improving.

14:45 Wincanton Maiden Hurdle (Class 3) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

DARTMOOR PIRATE must concede weight all round having landed a C&D maiden in December, but he found only a now 135-rated rival too strong at Huntingdon last month and looks the one to beat. Steel Ally was unable to do himself justice after pulling too hard on heavy ground at Ffos Las, though he is unlikely to be far away here if settling better. Kentucky Bluegrass boasts some solid Flat form and warrants respect now switched to hurdles.

STEEL ALLY weakened out of things pretty quickly when last seen at Ffos Las in December yet, he'd previously shaped with plenty of encouragement when runner-up on his hurdles debut at that venue in November (despite bad mistake last) and is worth another chance to get back on track. C&D winner Dartmoor Pirate rates the chief threat, ahead of Salvatore and American Land.

Dartmoor Pirate probably has less on his plate than at Huntingdon last time but he may struggle to concede 6lb to STEEL ALLY.

15:00 Ffos Las Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The unexposed PIMLICO POINT has been nudged up just 3lb after finishing an admirable second on his chasing bow over 3m at Exeter in November and, having his second run since wind surgery, this may be the best time to catch him. Regarde rates the main danger for the in-form Jamie Snowden team. He wasn't disgraced when finishing third at Newcastle most recently and off the same mark, he should be able to make his presence felt. Lubeat Foras finds himself in calmer waters than when finishing sixth at Newbury last time and, dropped 5lb in the ratings, he is taken to fill the frame.

A winning pointer, PIMLICO POINT improved on his hurdles form at the first attempt sent chasing when runner-up at Exeter in November, staying on well, and he can build on that effort to go one better. Regarde has taken well to chasing this season and is respected, with Pachacuti completing the shortlist.

On the one-year anniversary of his hurdles win off a higher mark, GINGERBRED may well be the answer. Pimlico Point is feared most.

It is difficult to look past FIRE FLYER on the back of a highly encouraging hurdling debut effort at Newbury behind a subsequent Grade 2 scorer. A winner over a similar distance to this in bumpers, Paul Nicholls' charge should not be inconvenienced by the drop in trip and he sets the standard ahead of the likes of Johannes and Thank You Ma'am, who seems to be improving.

FIRE FLYER made a promising start in this sphere at Newbury in December and has been found a good opportunity to open his account here. Thank You Ma'am looks the obvious danger on form, whilst fair Flat performer Zhang Fei warrants respect on his first crack over hurdles.

This looks a golden opportunity for FIRE FLYER to get his head back in front after chasing home smart horses on his last two starts.

15:30 Ffos Las Handicap Chase (Class 5) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This looks to be a good opportunity for the largely consistent CAST'S TASHA to regain the winning thread. Ben Clarke's charge ran with credit when finishing second over an extended 2m5f at Exeter on New Year's Day over hurdles and, upped just 1lb on her chasing bow, she may take some stopping. Penny Mallow should be a lot happier returning to a left-handed course after jumping left at Hereford on her most recent start and she rates the main danger to the selection. Despite her largely inconsistent profile, Lady Tremaine does have some form that would entitle her to at least hit the frame.

This is best left to CAST'S TASHA, who arrives in fine form over hurdles and Ben Clarke's mare should make at least as good a chaser. Santa Clarita disappointed over hurdles last time, but she can give the selection most to think about from a much-reduced mark back chasing, with veteran Penny Mallow taken to fill out third dropping into class 5 company for the first time in this sphere.

By far the most appealing option in this uncompetitive mares' chase is CAST'S TASHA, who has been in good form over hurdles.

Slight preference is for MANOTHEPEOPLE, who has not shown much in his last two starts but ran very well on his first start of the season at Exeter. Tom Broughton's 7lb claim is a help and he may be able to regain some of his early chasing form from last season. An easy winner over C&D last time out, albeit on heavy ground, Take Your Time can give him the most to think about, ahead of Jacamar.

TAKE YOUR TIME has relished the switch to chasing this season and looks well capable of maintaining his unbeaten record in this sphere. The in-form Jacamar is unexposed over this trip and could pose the main threat, while veteran Copperhead isn't without hope.

The 10yo COPPERHEAD (nap) is beginning to look a horse ready to exploit his reduced mark and returning to further has to be a plus.

Despite jumping left (often markedly so) BOSTON JOE shaped as if still in good form when third at Wincanton 3 weeks ago and, with this drop in trip rating a likely plus, he could be worth siding with to get back on track with forecast conditions holding no fears. Veteran C&D winner Templier and Gambie Tiep, both of whom return from short breaks, can emerge as the chief threats, with Ballymagee another to keep an eye on.

The C&D winners BOSTON JOE and Templier both have solid claims back here. Several others have possibilities in an open affair.

16:15 Wincanton Hunter Chase (Class 5) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Grade 1-winning hurdler LALOR makes his hunter chase bow after a 670-day layoff and the veteran could have too much class for these rivals. Paul Nicholls' charge was last seen dominating a class 2 handicap chase at Newbury and a reproduction of that performance would make him extremely tough to beat. Goose Man has race fitness on his side and may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Wick Green.

LALOR has an absence of almost two years to overcome but, if he retains the bulk of his ability, he should outclass his rivals here. Goose Man is the solid alternative if the selection isn't on his game and Wick Green should give his running again.

The market can guide with Lalor. WICK GREEN has been holding his own in some good handicaps and he's preferred to Goose Man.

16:30 Ffos Las Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MUMBLES impressed when scoring by 16 lengths at Chepstow eight days ago and, with further progression expected, he is hard to oppose under a 7lb penalty. Smart Casual has put two solid efforts together and can make a fist of things for Joe Tickle and Micheal Nolan, while Daany arrives in good heart and he cannot be ruled out either.

MUMBLES rewarded favourite backers with a 16-length success at Chepstow 8 days ago and, provided this doesn't come too soon, Evan Williams' 6-y-o is fancied to double his tally at the expense of Smart Casual, who shaped as if still in top form when fourth at Uttoxeter just under 6 weeks ago. Daany has his quirks but is doing little wrong at present so can battle out minor honours with handicap-debutant Another Lord.

Provided the drop back in trip doesn't have a negative effect, MUMBLES should win again. Smart Casual is feared most.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Northern Symphonie failed to build on her promising second at Newbury in December when only mustering a seventh-placed finish at Warwick the following month. With several interesting newcomers on show, it may pay to look elsewhere and NOTORIOUS PINK edges the vote. The Martaline mare, a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed chaser One For The Team, ticks plenty of the right boxes. She may have enough speed to fend off fellow debutant Jubilee Alpha, who warrants respect representing Paul Nicholls.

This can go to a newcomer, with JUBILEE ALPHA preferred over Notorious Pink and I've Madeupmymind before market clues.

Most of the newcomers are interesting, particularly JUBILEE ALPHA and Notorious Pink. The betting should give further guidance.

18:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CERVETTO is officially 4lb well-in having won on his handicap bow at Lingfield six days ago, so the unexposed son of Zoffany looks well placed to double his tally providing this race doesn't come too soon. Conquest Of Power ought to give another good account of himself having scored over C&D a fortnight ago, while Chola Empire, who continues to fall down the ratings, should not be underestimated.

CERVETTO took a marked step forward when making a successful start to handicapping at Lingfield last time and had plenty to spare, so he should follow up if the race doesn't come too soon. Conquest of Power is a danger and Jenson Benson could feature if the drop back in trip doesn't catch him out.

Unpenalised for last week's Lingfield success, CERVETTO can make it 2-2 in handicaps. Jenson Benson can chase him home.

18:30 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Gaiden sets the standard with an official rating of 80 and, though she merits the utmost respect, ROSY AFFAIR is fancied to improve on her Lingfield debut effort, where she finished second, and get off the mark. Blue Point filly Moonfire weakened late on over 7f last time out, so the drop to 6f should see her in a better light. Miss Bodacious shaped with promise on her racecourse bow and is another to consider.

MISS BODACIOUS cost plenty as a yearling, is in good hands, and should have learned plenty from her debut, so she's fancied to improve past Gaiden, who was a bit underwhelming last time. Rosy Affair and Moonfire also have potential.

Gaiden sets the standard but SIOBHANBROGAN shaped encouragingly on last summer's debut and could take a good step forward.

19:00 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ADMIRABLE LAD justified strong market support when winning in handicap company at Kempton last month, so Chelsea Banham's gelding could take all of the beating eased in class. That said, Viewfromthestars holds every chance on these terms, and he appeals as a leading candidate having been narrowly denied over track and trip three weeks ago. Monsieur Fantaisie continues to run well in defeat and is noted along with the Michael Attwater-trained Bear To Dream.

ADMIRABLE LAD has been better in the past and had a bit to spare when scoring at Kempton recently, so he takes marginal preference over Viewfromthestars, who upped his game when second over C&D three weeks ago. Monsieur Fantaisie can also feature if he doesn't blow the start.

An open race but ADMIRABLE LAD is on top of his game and he can allay slight concerns as to whether this trip suits as well as 5f.

19:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

POP DANCER must hold every chance if building on a strong runner-up effort over C&D last month, where he had the reopposing Dynamic Force (fourth) behind. A winner here before, the seven-year-old is preferred to the likes of Lingfield scorer Twilight Madness, who drops in trip, as well as Reigning Profit, who has been running consistently of late and is expected to be thereabouts again.

TWILIGHT MADNESS scored cosily at Lingfield on New Year's Eve and remains well treated on old form, so he gets the nod over fellow last-time-out winner Level Up, who should give another good account. The well-treated Dynamic Force is also of interest.

Reigning Profit is a key player but LEVEL UP (nap) is preferred with his recent Lingfield success franked and Rossa Ryan back up.

20:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 4) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

INSPIRITUS is the least exposed of these and there should be plenty of improvement forthcoming on the back of a taking success on handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month. A 4lb rise could prove lenient and he should have too much for the capable Rogue Soldier and Cavalluccio, who has finished in the first two on all but one of his last five starts over C&D.

OUTGUN had some good form lines to his name last year and returned from 9 weeks off with a solid second behind a subsequent winner at Wolverhampton in December. He gets the nod to come out on top in receipt of weight all round under the red-hot Rossa Ryan. Roger Varian's Inspiritus is going the right way and he's feared most, ahead of Cavalluccio, who is also enjoying a very good spell himself.

Cavalluccio is on the up but the return to Chelmsford could see WADACRE GOMEZ take another step forward.

20:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Set to race from just 1lb above his last winning mark, H KEY LAILS has a solid chance of getting back to winning ways and looks worth chancing in this company. Deed Pole is another on a competitive mark who cannot be ruled out, while Glencalvie is taken seriously with the in-form pilot Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle.

DEED POLE needs to dispel a lesser effort over further but he had previously been holding his form well at this trip and can bounce back. H Key Lails in refitted cheekpieces and Angel of Antrim head the dangers.

New headgear could revive Angel Of Antrim but the return of cheekpieces may prove more crucial for H KEY LAILS.
