1st (5) (10/3 +45%) Nights In Venice |
10/3(+45%) | (5) Nights In Venice 10/3, Fair maiden handicap hurdler who took to chasing when fourth of 12 over 3m at Carlisle 3 weeks ago but he didn't deliver much off the bridle (not for first time). Possible the return to shorter, The only maiden in this field but is unexposed over fences; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 +14%) Travail D'orfevre |
13/8(+14%) | (3) Travail D'orfevre 13/8, Scored at Carlisle (2m) on his return and good runner-up efforts on all 3 outings since, including C&D. Enters calculations again. Consistent sort who ran creditably at Ayr the last twice; holds very solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 -50%) Indian Louis |
6/1(-50%) | (2) Indian Louis 6/1, Dual point winner who left his qualifying runs over hurdles behind when making a winning chase debut at Musselburgh (2½m) on New Year's Day. Let down by his jumping when only fifth over C&D since but he's probably worth another chance. Won at Musselburgh on chase debut; disappointing over C&D since; may rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -20%) Ardera Cross |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Ardera Cross 12/1, Nine-time course winner, the latest when accounting for Fia Fuinidh over 2m as the turn of the year. Does need to shrug off a poor run back here since, though. Nine course wins, including this race last year; ran poorly latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/2 +13%) Fia Fuinidh |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Fia Fuinidh 7/2, Made all in 2m handicap hurdle here last winter and promise when runner-up twice in 2m handicap chases this winter. Faded into fourth back from wind surgery here (2m) 13 days ago and remains to be seen whether this step up in trip suits. Form dipped last time; this new trip is worth exploring judged on pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/1 -220%) Jolly Nellerie |
16/1(-220%) | (4) Jolly Nellerie 16/1, Fairly useful winning hurdler in France but yet to fire in 4 starts so far for his current trainer, including switched to fences at Newcastle before Christmas. Sports first-time blinkers back from a short break. New trip and first-time headgear are possible sources of improvement; not written off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Runner-up on each of his last two starts here, including over C&D last month, TRAVAIL D'ORFEVRE can deservedly regain the winning thread while upholding last-time-out form with Fia Fuinidh (fourth). Nick Alexander's charge is preferred to Nights In Venice and Jolly Nellerie, who is very interesting going up in distance on just his second start over the larger obstacles. There could be more to come from him.
INDIAN LOUIS made too many mistakes when only fifth over C&D a fortnight ago but his jumping had looked an asset when making a successful start to his chase career at Musselburgh prior to that and he's given a chance to atone. Nights In Venice and Fia Fuinidh tend to travel well but haven't delivered much at the business end recently so the reliable Travail d'Orfevre is probably the most solid option for the forecast spot.
Another chance is given to JOLLY NELLERIE, who looks poised to improve. Travail D'Orfevre is second choice.

1st (2) (1/2 +64%) David's Well |
1/2(+64%) | (2) David's Well 1/2, Shaped with promise in his sole bumper and again when fifth of 13 in novice hurdle at Newbury (16.3f, soft) 16 days ago. Leading form claims. Very respectable fifth in much better race than this at Newbury this month; sets standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (50/1 +0%) Oval Street |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Oval Street 50/1, Multiple point winner but only modest form shown over hurdles/fences. Needs to take a big step forward after 6 months off back hurdling. Not seen since safely held in two handicap chases in August, and ground a possible issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (28/1 -75%) Hidalgo Des Bordes |
28/1(-75%) | (4) Hidalgo Des Bordes 28/1, Runner-up in an Irish point back in May 2022 and hinted at promise when seventh in novice hurdle at Taunton (19f) 20 days ago. Can build on it. Shaped with some promise when seventh at Taunton this month; not ruled out each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (18/1 -125%) Come To Pass |
18/1(-125%) | (1) Come To Pass 18/1, Modest handicapper on Flat (stays 10f) who has been without a win this year. Fourth of 8 starting out over hurdles at Uttoxeter in November so no forlorn hope back in this sphere. Made fairly encouraging hurdle debut in November and was recently placed on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (50/1 +0%) Just Aidan |
50/1(+0%) | (6) Just Aidan 50/1, Winner of sole outing in points and he showed some promise under a patient ride when sixth of 12 in novice hurdle at Wincanton (15f) 9 days ago. Should improve in the longer term. Has not shown a great deal since switched to racing under rules this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (40/1 +20%) Dreadpoetssociety |
40/1(+20%) | (3) Dreadpoetssociety 40/1, Little impact in 2 bumpers for Warren Greatrex in the first half of 2023 and in 2 runs over hurdles for his new stable. Didn't achieve much when fifth of six in uncompetitive C&D novice last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (11/2 +54%) Inigo |
11/2(+54%) | (5) Inigo 11/2, Fairly useful form in bumpers, winning in France. Off 20 months before never dangerous in maiden hurdles at Huntingdon and over C&D this winter. Sort to do better in handicaps in due course. French AW bumper winner in 2021; only minor promise in two maiden hurdles this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (250/1 -67%) No Guarantee |
250/1(-67%) | (10) No Guarantee 250/1, No show in a pair of bumpers and 3 runs over hurdles this winter. Easy to look elsewhere. Showed no significant promise when 200-1 for first three hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (7/2 -56%) Winter Reprise |
7/2(-56%) | (9) Winter Reprise 7/2, Useful winner on Flat at around 1¼m for David Menuisier in 2022. Off 17 months ahead of his hurdling bow for new yard. Hooded for 1st time too. Very much one to consider despite his absence. Makes hurdle debut after 526-day absence but was very useful on the Flat at his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (33/1 -32%) Sir Maximus |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Sir Maximus 33/1, Hooded, eighth of 13 in bumper at Newton Abbot (18/1) on NH debut 7 months ago. Since had a wind op and much respected on his hurdles debut. Not seen since low-key bumper debut last summer; had wind op in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (150/1 -355%) Lucky Rover |
150/1(-355%) | (11) Lucky Rover 150/1, Westerner filly. Half-sister to fair hurdler/chaser Langley Hundred, stays 3¼m. Market can prove a good guide on her debut. Out of a fair hurdler; makes debut in race lacking strength in depth but probably best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (150/1 -200%) Royal Toast |
150/1(-200%) | (12) Royal Toast 150/1, Fair form in pair of maidens on the Flat in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien. New connections acquired him for 10,000 gns but she made mistakes when only fourth of five in Leicester juvenile hurdle in November. Saddle slipped and pulled up at Hereford since. Lots more is required. Showed ability on the Flat in Ireland but has made inauspicious start to hurdling career. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
David's Well is the pick of those with hurdling experience based on his fifth at Newbury last time, although preference is for WINTER REPRISE. Alan King's seven-year-old was Listed placed on the Flat and earned a peak rating of 98. If he can run to anywhere near that level of form he should be hard to beat. Come To Pass is another to note.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and DAVID'S WELL looks the way to go on the back of his promising recent Newbury fifth with the expectation of more to come from Chris Gordon's son of Getaway. Alan King's debutant Winter Reprise has a long absence to overcome but was a useful winner on the level so commands plenty of respect. Come To Pass appeals as the pick of the rest for place purposes.
Winter Reprise was very useful on the Flat but DAVID'S WELL wasn't beaten far when fifth in a good maiden hurdle this month.

1st (2) (4/11 -64%) Bleu D'enfer |
4/11(-64%) | (2) Bleu D'enfer 4/11, Fairly useful hurdler and chaser who arrives on the back of 3 creditable placed efforts. Won't get a much better chance than this to get off the mark. Placed (over hurdles/fences) in last three outings; clear pick on the figures. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/1 +55%) Adveram |
9/1(+55%) | (1) Adveram 9/1, Modest in bumpers and well held in 2 maiden hurdles here this winter. Not particularly solid on form but is bred to do better still. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (100/1 +0%) Cave Hill |
100/1(+0%) | (4) Cave Hill 100/1, Tailed off in 3 maiden hurdles here so can't make a case for despite Brian Hughes taking the ride. Holds dismal claims on most of his form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (150/1 -50%) Teddy Mac |
150/1(-50%) | (7) Teddy Mac 150/1, Failed to beat a rival in 2 bumpers and pulled up on recent course hurdle debut. Poor claims on form in bumpers and on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (3/1 +10%) Sirekoff |
3/1(+10%) | (6) Sirekoff 3/1, Promising second on 2m Clonmel hurdle debut in December. Disappointing when pulled up at Tramore on New Year's Day but he still looks the obvious danger to Bleu d'Enfer here. Best effort when second at Clonmel on penultimate run; one of the main players. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 +60%) Sea Prince |
40/1(+60%) | (5) Sea Prince 40/1, Remains a maiden after 9 hurdle runs. Pulled up both starts for current yard and can only watch. Has a big question mark over current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (100/1 -150%) Castlecomer Bill |
100/1(-150%) | (3) Castlecomer Bill 100/1, Getaway gelding who didn't shape with any obvious short-term promise when eighth of 10 in a Stratford bumper 3 weeks ago. Beaten long way in Carlisle bumper and doesn't look an imminent winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BLEU D'ENFER has shown a consistent level of form on his most recent starts, placing over both hurdles and fences at Down Royal, and Stuart Crawford's gelding appears to have been found the ideal opportunity to get off the mark. A repeat of Sirekoff's hurdling debut when runner-up at Clonmel in December would make him the biggest danger, while Adveram appeals most of the remainder.
The 2 Irish raiders should dominate a maiden hurdle where worthwhile form is thin on the ground, with BLEU D'ENFER taken to prove too strong for Sirekoff.
The clear form pick is BLEU D'ENFER. Sirekoff is next best on the figures while Adveram is a possible improver.

Lone Soldier |
(5) (11/2 -57%)11/2(-57%) | (5) Lone Soldier 11/2, Hooded and posted his best run over hurdles on his handicap debut when third of 8 at Southwell (20.4f, soft) 40 days ago, despite going freely again. Tongue strap on 1st time. May do better still. Didn't find much after travelling well on handicap debut; drop back in trip can help here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (8/1 -23%) Activist |
8/1(-23%) | (6) Activist 8/1, Fairly useful on Flat in France. Not so good so far over hurdles, including when a remote second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Lingfield (16f, soft) 13 days ago, going in snatches. Others are preferred. No match for easy winner when second last time but still enters calculations here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (6/1 +57%) Macari |
6/1(+57%) | (8) Macari 6/1, Modest maiden hurdler who beat only one in juvenile at Newbury (16.3f, soft) 34 days ago. More required now going into handicaps. Yet to show anything more than minor promise but has lowly mark for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/1 +38%) Grasshopper Time |
10/1(+38%) | (2) Grasshopper Time 10/1, Fair ex-Irish maiden hurdler who has yet to fire for his current yard, pulled up in Southwell handicap 40 days ago. Others more persuasive. Placed in Ireland in the autumn but soundly beaten all three British starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/2 +0%) Callin Baton Rouge |
7/2(+0%) | (7) Callin Baton Rouge 7/2, Still a maiden but she got back on track when second of 7 in handicap hurdle over C&D (soft) 14 days ago. Needs considering. 0-7 over hurdles but ran well in defeat over C&D a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/2 +44%) Kotari |
5/2(+44%) | (1) Kotari 5/2, Fair ex-French maiden on the Flat who got back on the up in this sphere on his handicap debut when fourth of 14 over C&D 28 days ago, doing best of those held up. Has to be taken seriously off a 2 lb lower mark. Made encouraging handicap hurdle debut when fourth over C&D last month; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/2 +39%) Aworkinprogress |
11/2(+39%) | (4) Aworkinprogress 11/2, Thrice-raced maiden and best effort when eighth of 16 in novice hurdle (200/1) at Newbury (16.3f, soft) 34 days ago, not knocked about. More to come on his handicap debut. Considered. Cut little ice in his qualifying runs but ought to be more competitive now handicapping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CALLIN BATON ROUGE filled second place over course and distance on her most recent outing and the daughter of Westerner gets the vote here off just a 1lb higher mark. Aworkinprogress has shown some promise in novice/maiden hurdles and has to be noted on his handicap debut, while Lone Soldier edges out Activist to be the pick of the remainder.
KOTARI took a step forward in a first-time hood when a C&D fourth last time out and is fancied to build on it and register his first success off a 2 lb lower mark. Dan Skelton's Lone Soldier also appeals as one who could still do better in this sphere and is next on the list ahead of the selection's stablemate Sanitiser and in-form maiden Callin Baton Rouge.
This drop back in trip looks the right move for free-going LONE SOLDIER, who travelled strongly for a long way over 2m4f last month.

1st (1) (13/8 +41%) Traprain Law |
13/8(+41%) | (1) Traprain Law 13/8, Steadily progressive over hurdles and built on promising C&D chase debut third when scoring at Kelso (17f, heavy) just after Christmas. Creditable fifth in a much deeper race at Doncaster since and remains open to improvement. Largely progressive; scored easily at Kelso on most recent attempt in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 -21%) Ballycoose |
10/3(-21%) | (3) Ballycoose 10/3, Course hurdle winner over 2m who built on his good second in 20.5f handicap hurdle here when making a successful start to his chase career at this venue (20.5f) last month, jumping boldly in front. The drop back to 2m shouldn't pose him an issue. Leading claims. Justified favouritism here (2m4f, heavy) eight weeks ago on chase debut; open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 -65%) Carcaci Castle |
11/2(-65%) | (4) Carcaci Castle 11/2, Bumper/dual hurdle winner. Disappointed in handicap hurdles on his first 2 outings this winter but got his career back on track with first-time cheekpieces added to his tongue tie when ½-length second of 5 to Gardener on his Carlisle chase debut (2m, soft) 3 weeks ago. May do better. Close second to Gardener at Carlisle on the switch to chasing; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +14%) Leitrim Chief |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Leitrim Chief 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden who has shown he retains ability in a pair of hurdles since returning from a long absence. Bred for fences but he's in a warm race for this first attempt on what is also his handicap debut. The only maiden in the field but is a possible improver on handicap/chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/3 -33%) Gardener |
10/3(-33%) | (2) Gardener 10/3, Has taken rally well to chasing for new trainer Olly Murphy, winning 2m handicaps at Southwell and Carlisle (beat reopposing Carcaci Castle ½ length) on his completed starts. Likely capable of better again. 2-3 since joining new yard and switched to fences; beat Carcaci Castle at Carlisle latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
TRAPRAIN LAW was not disgraced in a valuable event at Doncaster a month ago and the six-year-old merits plenty of respect off a 2lb lower mark in this slightly easier grade. That said, Ballycoose won well over 2m4f at this venue on his most recent outing and is an obvious threat to the selection off just 5lb higher. Cases can be made for all of the remainder, but Gardener is just the pick of them.
An interesting race. There was a lot to like about the way BALLYCOOSE attacked his fences when making a successful chase debut over a longer trip here at the turn of the year and he's selected to make light of a 5 lb rise. Gardener and Traprain Law may give him most to think about.
All of the runners can be viewed positively. The percentage call goes to BALLYCOOSE, ahead of Traprain Law.

1st (3) (10/3 +56%) Everything'sontick |
10/3(+56%) | (3) Everything'sontick 10/3, Ended last term under a cloud over hurdles but made a winning start over fences at Leicester in November and backed it up with a good third of 6 in handicap at Cheltenham (25.2f, good to soft) next time. Not so good in cheekpieces most recently, so needs to bounce back. Backward step the last time but the cheekpieces tried there are swiftly removed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +40%) Gerico Ville |
9/2(+40%) | (5) Gerico Ville 9/2, Fair winner at 25f over hurdles but yet to translate that form to fences, only fourth of 5 in handicap chase (11/5) at Fontwell (27.7f, soft) in November. May still do better though. Yet to shine over fences but yard is in better form now and should be well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (6/1 +57%) Jessie Lightfoot |
6/1(+57%) | (7) Jessie Lightfoot 6/1, Twice a winner over fences who was returning from 10 months off when respectable third over hurdles at Catterick in December. Shaped as if as good as ever when fourth at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) a month later and now heads back up in trip/over fences. Dual chase winner who has performed okay in two hurdles this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/1 -50%) Atakan |
9/1(-50%) | (1) Atakan 9/1, Left hurdling form behind when making an impressive winning start in this sphere over C&D on 2022/23 return and benefited from a longer trip when making it 2 from 3 over fences at this course (28.5f, soft) when last seen 14 months ago. Has since switched yards. Last seen here last January in winning the Sussex National; up 4lb and able when fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 +0%) Jemura |
4/1(+0%) | (6) Jemura 4/1, Progressive sort who had a wind op before posting a good third in novice hurdle at Exeter in December. Took a small step forward 7 weeks on when third on handicap debut at Fontwell (21.8f, soft) last month and is a very interesting runner upped further in trip for his chasing debut. Switches to fences despite an improved third on handicap debut over hurdles at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +0%) Sublime Heights |
9/2(+0%) | (4) Sublime Heights 9/2, All 3 of his chase wins gained here, the latest in this race 12 months ago. Failed to fire on his first 3 starts back this term but took a step back in the right direction when runner-up over C&D (good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Every chance of going one better. Won this last year off the same mark and made a timely return to form four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (17/2 -70%) Windance |
17/2(-70%) | (2) Windance 17/2, Dual winning hurdler who was off 19 months ahead of being sent chasing for his previous campaign. Easily opened account at the third atttempt over fences in novice handicap at Fontwell 12 months ago and followed up 4 weeks later at Wincanton (25.1f, soft). Respected on return. In good form this time last year but absence has to be of some concern. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SUBLIME HEIGHTS bounced back to form when second over C&D four weeks ago and Toby Lawes' gelding has to be of interest off the same mark. Everything'sontick failed to fire on his most recent outing but is a player based on his two previous efforts, while the last-time-out winners Atakan and Windance both have to be noted on their returns.
Having won this corresponding event 12 months ago, SUBLIME HEIGHTS is fancied to repeat the feat having taken a significant step back in the right direction when finishing runner-up over C&D 4 weeks ago. Toby Lawes' 8-y-o can get the better of Windance, who arrives on a hat-trick but hasn't been seen since last March. Chasing-debutant Jemura and the returning Atakan can fight out minor honours.
Lightly raced JEMURA goes chasing despite showing improved form over hurdles and he looks more than ready for this longer distance.

1st (7) (5/4 -87%) Eire Street |
5/4(-87%) | (7) Eire Street 5/4, Placed in bumpers in summer 2022 and left his qualifying runs over hurdles well behind when bolting up on last week's Carlisle handicap debut (17f, heavy). A 7 lb penalty is unlikely to stop him if in similar form. Opened his account with a 25l success at Carlisle last week on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/2 +36%) Both Barrels |
7/2(+36%) | (4) Both Barrels 7/2, Made the frame all 3 starts in bumpers last season and similar story in a pair of novice hurdles this time round. Looks on a competitive opening handicap mark. Consistent maiden; open to progress now handicapping; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (14/1 +13%) Dance Thief |
14/1(+13%) | (5) Dance Thief 14/1, Point winner who has improved for switch to handicaps in this sphere, finishing second at Carlisle and here in December. Needs to shrug off a disappointing effort at Musselburgh 3 weeks ago, though. Twice a clear second in December; possibilities if back to that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +60%) Duyfken |
4/1(+60%) | (3) Duyfken 4/1, Signed off last term with a win at Perth and built on pair of placed efforts this term when resuming winning ways over 2½m at Musselburgh in January. Creditable third of 12 there off this mark since. Tongue tied first time. Consistent sort who holds solid claims off an unaltered mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (12/1 -50%) Better Getalong |
12/1(-50%) | (1) Better Getalong 12/1, Veteran who returned to form with a vengeance after 7 months off when winning 11-runner C&D handicap (soft) in December. Task is now to back up his latest effort from 5 lb higher this time around. Won over C&D 11 weeks ago but this 13yo isn't an obvious type to follow up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (15/2 -15%) Largy Shark |
15/2(-15%) | (2) Largy Shark 15/2, Course novice winner last season. Respectable sixth of 20 in 2m Navan handicap on reappearance in November but raced too freely under a 5 lb claimer stepped up to 2½m at Aintree 3 weeks later. Given a bit of time since and retains potential if settling better with Daryl Jacob back in saddle now. Not fully exposed; interesting back down in grade, being 2-2 in Class 4 races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (33/1 +0%) Fame Valley |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Fame Valley 33/1, Runner-up on his 2m course handicap debut in January 2022 but finished lame when only sixth in a C&D novice the following month and not seen since. Can only watch. Has encouraging form but absent for two years; heed the market signals. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It is hard to look past EIRE STREET, who fairly bolted up on his handicap debut over 2m1f at Carlisle last week, and a 7lb penalty may not be enough to stop the gelding going in again. Better Getalong dispatched of a subsequent winner in workmanlike fashion over C&D in December but a 5lb rise demands more of him, while the class-dropping Largy Shark also commands attention.
EIRE STREET pulled 25 lengths clear on last Monday's Carlisle handicap debut and will be hard to beat under a penalty if in the same mood. Largy Shark had an excuse at Aintree last time and had a positive profile prior to that so he's second choice ahead of Duyfken.
Eire Street has to be feared but LARGY SHARK is an interesting alternative. Both Barrels is another to consider.

1st (3) (11/4 -10%) Weaver's Answer |
11/4(-10%) | (3) Weaver's Answer 11/4, Improved when getting off the mark at Uttoxeter in October and soon bounced back to form when third of 13 in handicap hurdle (10/3) at Lingfield (19.5f, good to soft) 88 days ago. Plenty of stamina in the pedigree and he's a player upped to this trip in first-time cheekpieces. First and third in two runs this season; should be involved if okay in the cheekpieces. |

2nd (2) (7/4 +36%) Flemen's Tipple |
7/4(+36%) | (2) Flemen's Tipple 7/4, Runner-up 3 times from 5 starts in handicap hurdles, including on return here last month. Wilted only late on chase debut at Market Rasen 20 days ago and he's shortlisted back over the smaller obstacles. A three-time runner-up in C&D hurdles since last March and he goes well on soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (16/1 +60%) Set In The West |
16/1(+60%) | (6) Set In The West 16/1, Only poor form at best in 2021/22 and showed nothing after a 22-month absence at Fontwell last month. 0-7 over hurdles and was 50-1 when pulled up on her return from a long absence at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (17/2 -89%) Delgany Dreamer |
17/2(-89%) | (5) Delgany Dreamer 17/2, Mild promise in a couple of spring maidens but flattered to deceive when fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, soft, 6/1) 40 days ago. Others preferred. Weakened over 2m4f last time and goes over even further now. |

|PU| (1) (11/4 -69%) Dear Ralphy |
11/4(-69%) | (1) Dear Ralphy 11/4, Ran well after a wind-op/summer break when runner-up here in November before going one place better at Chepstow 4 days later, Bumped into a progressive rival at Lingfield the following week and he's a player if showing no ill effects for a chase debut fall last time. In good form in staying hurdles before not taking to fences at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (20/1 +20%) Cards Are Dealt |
20/1(+20%) | (7) Cards Are Dealt 20/1, Likely flattered by his proximity in a steadily-run contest when fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f, good to soft) and he's passed over on return from a 12-month absence. Bit better last time but that was last March and after another long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -25%) Can't Buy Time |
100/1(-25%) | (4) Can't Buy Time 100/1, Bred to stay very well but hasn't offered much for Padraig Roche or in a pair of starts for this yard. Minor form in his four runs and was 66-1 when pulled up on his recent handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Dear Ralphy has been running consistently well over hurdles this season, but he must bounce back from a fall over fences at Wincanton. The vote, therefore, goes to WEAVER'S ANSWER, who can benefit from the application of cheekpieces coupled with this marked step up in trip to take the gold medal. Delgany Dreamer has slipped to an attractive mark, and she shouldn't be overlooked for the Dan Skelton team.
The trio at the top of the weights stand out here, with the stoutly-bred WEAVER'S ANSWER the narrow pick having only his second crack at a staying trip. Flemen's Tipple is respected back hurdling having shaped as if still in good form on his chase bow last time, whilst Dear Ralphy is also respected if none the worse for a heavy fall on his first foray over the larger obstacles.
Andy Irvine's FLEMEN'S TIPPLE has run well over C&D more than once and it wasn't a bad chase debut last time.

1st (2) (5/6 -14%) I Am Max |
5/6(-14%) | (2) I Am Max 5/6, Vendangeur gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to a French Grade 1 winner Galop Marin. Well backed and justified support in fine style starting out in a bumper at Carlisle 3 weeks ago. Good hurdles prospect. Comfortably justified favouritism in Carlisle bumper on debut; open to progress; respected. |

2nd (5) (22/1 -267%) Dollar Collar |
22/1(-267%) | (5) Dollar Collar 22/1, £30,000 5-y-o, half-sister to fairly useful 2½m hurdle winner Minellafordollars and fair 19f chase winner Bigpipenotobacee (both by King's Theatre). Dam, 2m-2½m hurdle/chase winner. Easily off mark in Irish points at third attempt in October. Irish point winner; new yard also runs Two Auld Pals; heed the market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/8 +27%) Two Auld Pals |
11/8(+27%) | (4) Two Auld Pals 11/8, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat for Jim Goldie (stays 2¼m), winning 3 times in 2023. Has shown aptitude for hurdling when runner-up both starts in novices, latterly beaten a neck only. More to come in this sphere and he sets the standard with a tongue tie on for the first time. Three Flat wins; runner-up in two novice hurdles for new stable; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/1 +45%) The Best Way |
11/1(+45%) | (3) The Best Way 11/1, Shaped well when fourth of 10 in a course bumper in May 2022, making good progress early in the straight before his effort flattened out. Absent 21 months after and with that in mind there were also positives to take from his opening effort at Carlisle 3 weeks ago. Should do better. May improve with Carlisle reappearance under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (125/1 -89%) Don't Look Back |
125/1(-89%) | (1) Don't Look Back 125/1, Fair handicapper on Flat (stays 1m) but well held completed starts in this sphere, held when making a mistake at Musselburgh last week. Flat winner; 0-6 over hurdles and faces a stiff task on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (200/1 -300%) Suleiman Artist |
200/1(-300%) | (6) Suleiman Artist 200/1, Modest form at best in a trio of bumpers for Nigel Twiston-Davies. Needs major improvement on bumper form; new stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A decent performer on the level, TWO AULD PALS has taken well to hurdles since joining the Lucinda Russell stable and must hold every chance on the back of a strong runner-up effort at Newcastle last month. The six-year-old seems to be the stable's number one ahead of newcomer Dollar Collar, who was an impressive winner of a point-to-point in October. I Am Max is another to consider following a taking bumper success at Carlisle.
I AM MAX could hardly have created a better impression on debut when a ready winner of a Carlisle bumper 3 weeks ago, and with connections wasting no time switching to hurdles, he can go in again. Lucinda Russell trains the obvious dangers, albeit from different backgrounds in point-winner Dollar Collar and ex-Flat performer Two Auld Pals.
Lucinda Russell holds a robust hand with Two Auld Pals and Dollar Collar. However, promising I AM MAX gets the vote.

1st (2) (9/4 +25%) Time To Bite |
9/4(+25%) | (2) Time To Bite 9/4, Finally opened his account when landing an Exeter handicap in December and has shaped better than the result both starts since, fifth of 14 in handicap there 26 days ago. Blinkers back on and big shout off a 3 lb lower mark. Below par latest but has made all at Exeter and this sharper track should suit him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +10%) Robins Field |
9/2(+10%) | (5) Robins Field 9/2, Remains a maiden and below his best when a remote runner-up in handicap at Wetherby (19.3f) 23 days ago. Sort to bounce back though with cheekpieces added. Maiden but has finished runner-up in four of his nine chases; trip/ground will be fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 +40%) Shaw's Cross |
3/1(+40%) | (3) Shaw's Cross 3/1, Veteran who gained his first chasing success over C&D last term for Paul Henderson. Was in good form for this yard prior to a blip at Plumpton last time, so worth a chance to get back on track. Has form claims but he's only 3-40 and finds winning hard at the best of times. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -256%) Clondaw Robin |
8/1(-256%) | (4) Clondaw Robin 8/1, Still winless over fences but 2 lengths up and seemingly in control when fell last in handicap chase at this C&D (good to soft) 28 days ago. Up 5 lb but still not taken lightly. Looked booked for first chase win when falling late on here recently; raised 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (3/1 +0%) Hector Jaguen |
3/1(+0%) | (1) Hector Jaguen 3/1, Came good at the fourth attempt over fences at Fontwell (17.8f) last spring. Not at his best over the same C&D on Boxing Day but handicapper has shown mercy (now 4 lb lower) and he's in the picture. Not badly handicapped but he's not been on his game since returning from a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CLONDAW ROBIN is unlucky not to be a C&D winner after falling when leading at the last on his most recent outing. Off a 5lb higher mark, Andy Irvine's charge can make amends for that mishap. Robins Field shaped as if this application of cheekpieces will suit when finishing second over an extended 2m3f at Wetherby and could make his presence felt. After finishing fifth in a higher grade last month, Shaw's Cross shouldn't be dismissed now eased 3lb with his sights lowered.
A tightly-knit handicap in which marginal preference is for TIME TO BITE who can capitalise on a reduced mark having gone better than his fifth placing suggests at Exeter last time out. Andy Irvine's veteran duo Clondaw Robin and Shaw's Cross make appeal and can chase home the selection in that order.
Preference is for TIME TO BITE who didn't shine last time but he could make a bold bid to dominate throughout around here.

14/1(-155%) | (3) Not Staying Long 14/1, Won 3-runner novice hurdle over a year ago on final run for Patrick Neville. Hit the frame last 2 starts for current yard without looking particularly well treated. Has something to prove on forecast heavy ground and first visit to Ayr. |

2nd (6) (11/2 -10%) Gypsey's Secret |
11/2(-10%) | (6) Gypsey's Secret 11/2, Stays well and seemed to excel herself when third in maiden company at huge odds at Kelso last month. Well handicapped if backing that effort up. Inconsistent maiden who is far from certain to back up latest effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/5 +13%) Fiveafterfour |
6/5(+13%) | (4) Fiveafterfour 6/5, £80,000 buy after easily winning her sole Irish point. Just modest form in her qualifying runs but much more like it when making a winning handicap debut here a fortnight ago (20.5f). This trip should be within range and she has to be of interest. Strong at the finish over 2m4f here two weeks ago; open to further progress back at 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/3 +72%) You Say Its Over |
10/3(+72%) | (7) You Say Its Over 10/3, Still looking for first success but runner-up 4 times already this season. Fitted with cheekpieces and a shade disappointing at Wetherby latest. May rebound with the cheekpieces discarded; still a maiden, however. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (8/1 -33%) Similar Story |
8/1(-33%) | (2) Similar Story 8/1, Easy winner of a point back in May and showed ability in trio of mares' novice events late last year. Handicap debut effort at Kelso (18f) was rather underwhelming 8 weeks ago but it remains early days at least and she's up markedly in trip. Gives the impression she'll be suited by this first crack at 3m under rules; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 +17%) Wild Polly |
10/1(+17%) | (1) Wild Polly 10/1, Dropping in the weights but ended last season out of sorts and hasn't offered a great deal of encouragement both comeback runs this winter. Cheekpieces reached for. Finished behind a couple of these rivals here two weeks ago; headgear enlisted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A comfortable winner here last time out, where she had the reopposing Joie De Vivre (third) almost seven lengths behind, FIVEAFTERFOUR should have plenty more improvement forthcoming over further and she can follow up. The unexposed Similar Story has yet to put it all together in this sphere, but she has shaped as though going up in trip would be a huge benefit to her and she cannot be ruled out.
GYPSEY'S SECRET exceeded expectations by some way when third in maiden company at Kelso and, with stamina her forte, she's worth siding with from a basement mark. Fiveafterfour made a winning handicap debut at Ayr recently and there should be more to come at this trip, so she's the obvious threat.
The vote goes to FIVEAFTERFOUR (nap), who should have more to offer. Joie De Vivre and Similar Story are respected.

2nd (6) (22/1 -214%) Possible Ambition |
22/1(-214%) | (6) Possible Ambition 22/1, Won at Newcastle earlier this month. Ran respectably under a penalty after just 3 days off when fifth of 9 in handicap (3/1) there (7.1f) 13 days ago. Fancied to go close on first run for yard after leaving John & Sean Quinn (3,000 gns). Won at Newcastle on penultimate run and he's respected back up in trip for new yard. |

3rd (4) (11/4 +66%) Prince Ali |
11/4(+66%) | (4) Prince Ali 11/4, Course winner. 12/1, again ran below form when tenth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 50 days ago, weakening when hampered inside final 1f. Now just 1 lb above his last winning mark so not discounted. Two close calls here late last year but he's weakened in his last two runs; mixed messages. |

4th (7) (28/1 -133%) Inclement Weather |
28/1(-133%) | (7) Inclement Weather 28/1, One win from 23 Flat runs. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. Never-dangerous sixth of 10 in handicap at this course (8.6f, 40/1) 16 days ago, slowly away. Others look stronger. Sole win came in April 2022 and she's been well held in her three runs this winter. |

5th (3) (12/1 -50%) Glencalvie |
12/1(-50%) | (3) Glencalvie 12/1, Winner at Chelmsford City earlier this month. Never a threat when fifth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (18/1) 7 days ago. Others more persuasive. Off the mark at Chelmsford (1m) 25 days ago but she's been well held in both runs since. |

7th (2) (11/2 +8%) Renesmee |
11/2(+8%) | (2) Renesmee 11/2, Failed to build on previous promise when seventh of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW, 25/1) 3 weeks ago. Experienced amateur in the plate but not one for maximum confidence given her profile. Eyecatching third over C&D in January and has claims if she can recapture that form. |

8th (8) (150/1 -200%) Fast Deal |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Fast Deal 150/1, Remains a maiden after 25 Flat runs. 100/1, ninth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Readily passed over from out of the weights again. 43-race maiden who has been tailed off under both codes in her four runs this winter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ASGARD'S CAPTAIN looked like the winner for long stages at Newcastle before being worn down in the final 100 yards, and it may be that a slight drop in distance can see him return to winning ways. The four-year-old scored over shorter here last month and is preferred to the capable Renesmee, as well as Prince Ali, who has finished runner-up on two of his last four starts.
ASGARD'S CAPTAIN made the perfect start for this yard when scoring over an extended 1m here last month, and having found only a thriving sort too strong at Newcastle last time, Dylan Cunha's 4-y-o can get the better of Possible Ambition, who arrives in form and makes his first start for a new yard. Prince Ali, who is now just 1 lb above his last winning mark, completes the shortlist.
This can go to the progressive 4yo ASGARD'S CAPTAIN, who was a clear second under Fletcher Yarham at Newcastle last time.

Open to more progress now handicapping. Signs were more encouraging when a near 10l third in a 2m3f novice at Warwick. |

5th (5) (7/4 +36%) Only Fools |
7/4(+36%) | (5) Only Fools 7/4, Landed 21f handicap hurdle at Ludlow in November (strong form) and backed that up when third at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) 34 days ago. Well in the mix. Ludlow winner who travelled the best before coming up just shy at Leicester. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ONLY FOOLS posted a workmanlike success at Ludlow prior to finishing a creditable third over an extended 2m4f at Leicester on her most recent start. Nudged up just 2lb by the handicapper, she can make a bold bid to go two places better. Politacus was highly tried in bumpers and she can give the selection most to think about stepping up in trip on her handicap debut, while Parikarma represents a stable who have been among the winners recently and cannot be discounted.
POLITACUS has yet to really fire over hurdles given her useful winning bumper form but looks to have got in lightly for her handicap bow so gets the nod with this return to a longer distance also a likely plus. Fellow handicap debutante Molto Bene also looks to have more to offer and is next on the list ahead of in-form Only Fools.
The most interesting runner is POLITACUS (nap) on her handicap debut. She should be well handicapped given what she achieved in bumpers.

Dam (h65), lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles, sister to smart hurdler (21f/3m winner) Ballydub. placed both completed starts in Irish points back in 2022. Irish point form in 2022 has substance; possibilities despite lengthy absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FRISBY ran out a comfortable winner of his point-to-point at Dromahane at the back end of last year and was subsequently sold for 40,000 pounds at the Goffs UK January mixed sale. The six-year-old is unlikely to have any issues with conditions and makes plenty of appeal on his Rules debut. Sovereign Star has displayed promise in a couple of points and is likely to go well along with Red Ned, who was just denied at Southwell in November.
RED NED didn't show much in points but he made an odds-on newcomer work hard starting out in bumpers at Southwell in November and he rates the percentage call. Derryhassen Paddy and Frisby both tasted success between the flags and market support for either would look significant.
The only bumper form is represented by RED NED. All of his rivals have promising credentials. Derryhassen Paddy is second choice.

66/1(-725%) | (6) Escobedo 66/1, 6/1, below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 17 days ago. Others more persuasive. Sole win came over hurdles and he was beaten 8l at Chelmsford last time; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (100/1 -1567%) Khathak |
100/1(-1567%) | (1) Khathak 100/1, Temperamental sort. Good second at Newcastle in December but no better than mid-field 3 starts since. Remains on a fair mark if able to put it all together. On dangerous mark but he's 0-15 since his debut win and others are more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (400/1 -2757%) Dancing Master |
400/1(-2757%) | (8) Dancing Master 400/1, Course winner. 250/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, eleventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Plumpton (15.9f, soft) 14 days ago. Very hard to make a case for. Sole win was in 2021 and he's struggled over hurdles for new yard this winter; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (300/1 -4900%) Covert Legend |
300/1(-4900%) | (2) Covert Legend 300/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, step back in right direction when sixth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 66/1) 22 days ago. Respected if able to build on that. Well treated on his best form but he's now 0-10 and has been well held in last three runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (350/1 -6900%) Girl From Italy |
350/1(-6900%) | (3) Girl From Italy 350/1, Course winner. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at this course (8.6f, 8/1) 72 days ago, left poorly placed. Player. Her last win was under Paddy Barlow here in November; needs close look after a short break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (300/1 -1264%) Dark Company |
300/1(-1264%) | (7) Dark Company 300/1, Untrustworthy individual. Eighth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 16/1) 17 days ago. Others have achieved more. 0-10 for current yard and he needs a major upturn in form; 2lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Narrowly denied on his last two starts here, HARBOUR VISION sets the standard on form and this looks like as good an opportunity as any to get back to winning ways. The nine-year-old runs off the same mark as his last success and should have too much for course winner Girl From Italy and Breguet Boy, who did it well at Windsor when last seen in October.
HARBOUR VISION found only a gambled-on rival too good over C&D last week and Scott Dixon's veteran can notch a fifth course win. Girl From Italy was largely holding her form prior to Christmas and she's respected on her first start of the calendar year, whilst Breguet Boy produced an improved effort to win at Windsor in October and is also respected after a break.
It is hard to get away from nine-time AW winner HARBOUR VISION, who has been knocking on the door here in his last two starts.

1st (6) (6/4 +20%) Siobhanbrogan |
6/4(+20%) | (6) Siobhanbrogan 6/4, Promising sort. 5/2, close third of 8 in novice at Chelmsford (6f) 25 days ago. Likely capable of better again and leading claims. Two promising efforts at 6f including a close call at Chelmsford this month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 -82%) Spiritual Pursuit |
5/1(-82%) | (7) Spiritual Pursuit 5/1, Fair form when placed all 3 starts at around 7f. Third of 8 in novice at Lingfield 18 days ago, losing second late on having gone from the front again. Looks speedy enough to cope with the drop to 6f. Placed in all three runs and she could find more progress on this drop to 6f; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (200/1 -614%) Shaz |
200/1(-614%) | (5) Shaz 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 11 in maiden (50/1) at Southwell (7f) 11 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. No show at big prices in two 7f events this winter; remains best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (100/1 -1011%) Miss Stormy Night |
100/1(-1011%) | (4) Miss Stormy Night 100/1, 28/1, held back by inexperience when seventh of 12 in novice at Southwell (6f) on debut 46 days ago. Should progress. Well-bred filly but she made a low-key start at a biggish price at Southwell last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (40/1 -1101%) Colour Code |
40/1(-1101%) | (1) Colour Code 40/1, Fair form. 11/4, second of 10 in maiden at Kempton (7f) 35 days ago (final start for Clive Cox). Ought to figure prominently again for new stable. Runner-up in her last two runs for Clive Cox and she's a big player on this drop in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (350/1 -6900%) Midnight Call |
350/1(-6900%) | (3) Midnight Call 350/1, €80,000 Caravaggio filly. Dam once-raced half-sister to smart 1m winner Court House. Newcomer to monitor closely in the betting. Plenty to like on paper and she needs a close look on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (200/1 -700%) Easy Company |
200/1(-700%) | (2) Easy Company 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. Went backwards from C&D debut fourth when down the field at Southwell since. Cheekpieces are quickly reached for. Some ability over C&D on debut but she struggled at Southwell latest; headgear now added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A promising third at Chelmsford last time out, despite being slowly into the stride, SIOBHANBROGAN should have plenty more to come on her third career outing and the booking of Oisin Murphy can only aid her cause. Narrowly denied over further at Kempton last month, Colour Code must enter calculations on her fist start for new connections, while Midnight Call is an intriguing newcomer for the Charlie Johnston yard.
SIOBHANBROGAN shaped well when returning from over 6 months off to finish a close third at Chelmsford at the beginning of February and she's the one to beat if building as expected on that promising run. Colour Code and Spiritual Pursuit can give her most to do unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Charlie Johnston newcomer Midnight Call.
Siobhanbrogan, Spiritual Pursuit and COLOUR CODE are all closely matched on the figures but the vote goes to the last-named.

1st (3) (5/2 -81%) Sennockian |
5/2(-81%) | (3) Sennockian 5/2, Arrives on a hat-trick after 1m handicap wins at Newcastle and Lingfield (AW) this month. Up another 3 lb but he's firmly in the picture. 2-2 in 1m handicaps this year and he beat Ippotheos last time; big player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/5 +69%) Dr Foster |
7/5(+69%) | (1) Dr Foster 7/5, Lightly-raced sort who got off the mark in 9-runner minor event at Kempton (8f) 131 days ago. Blinkers replace cheekpiece for his handicap debut and he's not taken lightly after a break with Oisin Murphy back up. Kempton winner who is respected now switched to a handicap on his return; has been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/2 -33%) Ippotheos |
5/2(-33%) | (2) Ippotheos 5/2, Course winner in December and he took his form up a notch in first-time cheekpieces when neck second of 5 to Sennockian in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 15 days ago. Big shout. Has a patchy record but he went close behind Sennockian at Lingfield last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 -43%) Love Yours |
10/1(-43%) | (4) Love Yours 10/1, Remains winless but he comes here in good nick, fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 9 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. In the mix on her best form but she's now 0-10 and didn't fire at Newcastle last Saturday. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SENNOCKIAN has accounted for a couple of his rivals here already in recent weeks and Charlie Johnston's gelding can defy a further 3lb rise in the ratings to secure a hat-trick. Ippotheos was only a neck behind the selection last time, while Love Yours is another threat having finished just a head behind him at Newcastle. Dr Foster makes his handicap bow following a novice win at Kempton in October and he may improve for a subsequent gelding operation.
None of the quartet can be ruled out but Mick Appleby holds a strong hand and his handily-weighted course scorer IPPOTHEOS is fancied to resume winning ways having gone down by just a neck at Lingfield last time. Hat-trick seeking Sennockian rates an obvious threat, while the selection's stablemate Dr Foster and in-form maiden Love Yours can both have a say too.
It's hard to rule out any of these but the most striking contender is SENNOCKIAN, who is unbeaten in two 1m handicaps this year.

1st (4) (4/1 -14%) Ziggy's Missile |
4/1(-14%) | (4) Ziggy's Missile 4/1, Modest maiden who wasn't disgraced when sixth of 12 in maiden (80/1) at Nottingham (5f, heavy). Off 153 days ahead of his handicap bow but can't be dismissed. Displayed clear promise on two of his three 2yo turf starts; makes handicap/AW debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3/1 -60%) Doctor Vuby |
3/1(-60%) | (2) Doctor Vuby 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 6/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, good second of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 36 days ago. That form has worked out well so he's a big player off an unchanged mark. Kept on for second behind a next-time-out winner on recent handicap debut at Chelmsford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/6 +67%) Lieutenant Rascal |
5/6(+67%) | (1) Lieutenant Rascal 5/6, Winner at Brighton in September. 22/1, creditable eighth of 22 in minor event at Newmarket (6f, good to firm), making effort earlier than ideal. Off 142 days but he's one to consider. Good second in C&D novice in September; has fitness to prove after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (20/1 -208%) Bint Alfella |
20/1(-208%) | (3) Bint Alfella 20/1, Fair form shown when runner-up on her first 2 starts but well below that level since, lat of six on her handicap debut at Newcastle (5f) 18 days ago. Tongue strap goes on for 1st time with lots more required. Last of six on recent handicap debut; needs first-time tongue-tie to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (22/1 -238%) Pinpoint |
22/1(-238%) | (5) Pinpoint 22/1, 5f winner at Bath in August for Richard Hannon but off 13 weeks before a below-par sixth on stable debut in nursery at this C&D (40/1) 88 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Very consistent in nurseries last season; might have needed recent outing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DOCTOR VUBY put in a career best when filling second place on his handicap debut over this trip at Chelmsford recently and he could go one better off the same mark. Ziggy's Missile did not build on his promising debut effort in two subsequent starts, but he should not be underestimated in this company, while Lieutenant Rascal appears to be next best.
Not the easiest handicap to assess but DOCTOR VUBY brings rock solid credentials to the table so is taken to gain a breakthrough success. The returning Lieutenant Rascal is much respected on just his second handicap start, while Bint Alfella figures on a handy mark if resurgent in a first-time tongue tie.
The pick is DOCTOR VUBY, who recovered well from a slow start to take second at Chelmsford last month and is also suited by this C&D.

3/1(+0%) | (2) Darlo Pride 3/1, Three wins from 18 runs last year. 5/2, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. 5 lb rise asks for more but stall 2 a plus. Five wins since September including over C&D last time; key player again off 5lb higher. |

3rd (4) (11/1 +8%) Catch Cunningham |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Catch Cunningham 11/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 13/2, eighth of 9 in handicap at Redcar (6f, heavy). Off 129 days. First run for yard after leaving Kevin Ryan and well weighted if he can revive for new yard on just second AW start (won previous one). On long losing run and he generally struggled last year; now returns for new yard. |

4th (8) (40/1 -150%) Rogue De Vega |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Rogue De Vega 40/1, 40/1, last of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 21 days ago. Hood on first time and he's dropped to a tempting mark. Novice winner but he's been disappointing in handicaps; now drops back to 5f in a hood. |

9/2(+25%) | (10) The Defiant 9/2, C&D winner. 6/1, third of 5 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 11 days ago. Oisin Murphy a positive booking. Just one win since August 2022 and he didn't really fire at Chelmsford last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (7/1 +13%) Twilight Fun |
7/1(+13%) | (1) Twilight Fun 7/1, C&D winner on second start in 2022. Restricted to just 2 runs since, sixth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW, 5/1) 33 days ago. Hard to weigh up. Unexposed C&D winner but he had some steering issues last time and others are preferred. |

7th (7) (25/1 -108%) Spanish Angel |
25/1(-108%) | (7) Spanish Angel 25/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 18 runs last year. 6/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good). Off 160 days. Defied this mark over C&D last summer but was down the field in final four runs last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (20/1 -67%) Recon Mission |
20/1(-67%) | (3) Recon Mission 20/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Fifth of 8 in handicap (16/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 18 days ago. On reduced mark but last win was in 2022 and he's been well held in three runs this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (9/1 +10%) New Hope Bullet |
9/1(+10%) | (5) New Hope Bullet 9/1, 1¾ lengths sixth of 7 to Gustav Graves in handicap (8/1) at this C&D 20 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. On reduced mark and she's not been beaten far in her two runs this year; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (18/1 -260%) Sounds Of Spring |
18/1(-260%) | (6) Sounds Of Spring 18/1, 11/1, respectable ninth of 22 in handicap at Navan (5.8f, heavy). Off 131 days. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving K. J. Condon and very interesting what the market makes of him. Ex-Irish gelding; on dangerous mark for new yard and he needs watching in market on return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GUSTAV GRAVES won over C&D two starts ago and caught the eye when finishing well following a troubled passage here on Friday. With more luck in running, the six-year-old could bounce back to winning ways. That said, Darlo Pride has to be of interest following his success over this track and trip two weeks ago and The Defiant is another with valid form claims.
In the hope there's strength behind him in the market, SOUNDS OF SPRING is taken to cash in on a career-low mark on this British debut for a new yard. The Defiant has the services of Oisin Murphy, which makes him of interest, with Darlo Pride also considered.
Preference is for DARLO PRIDE, who has won four of his last nine starts and hit a personal best with his win over C&D two weeks ago.

10/3(-11%) | (1) Dibble Dabble 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable 5½ lengths fourth of 8 to Subaltern on 1¼m Chelmsford handicap debut 17 days ago. Up in trip again. Makes tapeta debut. Still unexposed and this new trip could help but she needs major improvement. |

2nd (4) (11/4 -10%) Lunar Rocks |
11/4(-10%) | (4) Lunar Rocks 11/4, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable 1½ lengths third of 8 to reopposing Subaltern in 1¼m Chelmsford handicap 17 days ago, staying on from off the pace after slow start. Up in trip. First-time cheekpieces replace blinkers. Player. Eyecatcher behind Subaltern at Chelmsford and she looks interesting at this new trip. |

3rd (3) (6/4 +20%) Subaltern |
6/4(+20%) | (3) Subaltern 6/4, 9/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Chelmsford (1¼m) 17 days ago, making all. Up in trip. Considered up 4 lb. Made all at Chelmsford (1m2f) and he's open to more progress at this new trip; key player. |

5/1(+17%) | (2) Northgate 5/1, Modest form. Creditable fourth of 6 in C&D handicap 28 days ago. Likely to be competitive again. Still lightly raced but he needs to kick on again to make a serious impact here. |

20/1(-43%) | (5) Ludberg 20/1, Poor form. Eighth of 10 in handicap (40/1) at this course (7f) 10 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Modest eight-race maiden who has plenty to prove upped to this trip. |

100/1(-525%) | (6) Onelastcall 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1 when last of 11 on 1m Kempton handicap debut 12 days ago. Significantly up in trip with a first-time tongue strap and cheekpieces combination applied. Lightly raced filly but she needs a transformation upped to 1m4f; stablemate of Subaltern. |

7th (7) (125/1 -150%) Darkest Mile |
125/1(-150%) | (7) Darkest Mile 125/1, No form in 5 outings at up to 1m, including 2 handicaps. Remains to be seen whether a significant step up in trip makes any difference. Has shown very little in her five runs including two handicaps; can only be watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for SUBALTERN after a taking success at Chelmsford, Amy Murphy's charge should relish the step up in trip on this occasion and can follow up off 4lb higher. Behind him in that contest was Lunar Rocks (third), who doesn't have much to find and is another who may well be suited by the rise in distance. The unexposed Dibble Dabble is another to note.
LUNAR ROCKS leaves the impression she might have a bigger performance in her now stepping up in trip and is taken to turn the tables on her Chelmsford conqueror Subaltern.
Preference is for SUBALTERN, who put in a dominant display over 1m2f at Chelmsford and looks open to more progress at this new trip.

20/1(+0%) | (5) Pour Me A Drink 20/1, 100/1, fifth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 68 days ago. Back up in trip. Something to find on balance of recent form. Absent for 1,059 days before three down-the-field runs this winter; others preferred. |

6th (4) (Evens +9%) Lawmaker |
Evens(+9%) | (4) Lawmaker Evens, First run since leaving William Jarvis and career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Kempton (12f) 33 days ago, well positioned. Likely there's plenty more to come. Comeback winner on his handicap/stable debut at Kempton and he's open to more progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (22/1 -57%) Victory March |
22/1(-57%) | (6) Victory March 22/1, C&D winner. 40/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at this C&D. Off 112 days. First run for yard after leaving Seb Spencer and he's back on his last winning mark. His last win was in December 2022 and he has some questions to answer after another break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LAWMAKER defied a long absence on his first run for new connections when scoring with authority at Kempton last month, and a 5lb rise for that success could prove lenient as the four-year-old remains unexposed. Not beaten far in his bid for the hat-trick over C&D last time out, Upepo must have a good chance, along with Sax Appeal, who is surely better than what he has shown at Kempton the last twice.
Having displayed progressive form in his qualifying runs for William Jarvis, LAWMAKER found another jolt of improvement when making a successful handicap debut and this low-mileage 4-y-o should have plenty more to offer. The return to this trip will suit Daheer and he's respected, while it will be interesting to see what Rebecca Menzies can do with Victory March.
The vote goes to the unexposed LAWMAKER (nap) who returned from a lengthy absence with a convincing win on his handicap debut at Kempton

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
