1st (2) ![]() Deafening Silence |
4/5(+4%) | (2) Deafening Silence 4/5, Grade 2 winner over hurdles and, after almost a year off, shaped well on chase debut when third at Haydock in November. Soon left behind a lesser effort when runner-up in handicap at Windsor (24.2f) last time, so he holds leading claims with cheekpieces applied. Two of his three runs over fences read well and the chances are he will get better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Destroytheevidence |
9/4(+0%) | (1) Destroytheevidence 9/4, Three-time winner over hurdles who made a sucessful start over fences in handicap at Chepstow (23.6f) in October. Ran at least as well when second at Newbury the following month and no surprise to see him bounce back from a below-par run at Cheltenham last time. It has been a good start over fences until last time; retains potential but has a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Hillcrest |
7/2(+0%) | (3) Hillcrest 7/2, Useful novice hurdler and, after over 2½ years off, was an encouraging fourth (Deafening Silence a place ahead) at Haydock (21.6f) on chase debut. However, has failed to complete both starts since, though was hampered last time. Needs to get back on track in cheekpieces. Star novice hurdler but has yet to convince over fences following a long absence. |
DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE had progressed nicely over fences until running disappointingly at Cheltenham in December. Given time to recover from that effort, the seven-year-old is expected to leave that performance behind and take this en route to bigger targets in the spring. Deafening Silence and Hillcrest met at Haydock on their chasing bows in November and the former, who filled the runner-up spot at Windsor last month, is the bigger threat to the selection.
Having made a promising chase debut, DEAFENING SILENCE quickly bounced back to that level when second to an improver at Windsor last month, so he looks ready to open his account over fences with cheekpieces added. The biggest threat could come from Destroytheevidence, who had taken well to chasing prior to a lesser run at Cheltenham last time.
There's not a lot between these three ability-wise. DEAFENING SILENCE ran the most persuasive race last time out when second at Windsor.

1st (3) ![]() Barricane |
10/1(-33%) | (3) Barricane 10/1, Not at his best in 3 runs since returning to action in November but stamina won't be an issue and he scored off a mark 1 lb higher than this at Huntingdon last February. Couldn't rule out with first-time blinkers added. Won two handicaps in the mud last winter; not much to shout about since; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Keppel Queen |
6/1(-100%) | (4) Keppel Queen 6/1, Improved for switch to handicaps in this sphere, finding just one too good in cheekpieces at Chepstow and Carlisle in November. Crashed out early on tried over fences with blinkers refitted here last month but good chance she can resume progress now returned to hurdles with cheekpieces back on. Fell on chase debut last month; 2nd over 3m/3m1f in two handicap hurdles going into that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Siberian Star |
10/1(+17%) | (6) Siberian Star 10/1, Point winner who got off the mark at fourth time of asking for current yard when narrowly taking 6-runner handicap chase at Catterick (25.2f, good) on penultimate start. Wasn't disgraced next time and he's one to consider back hurdling. Chase win two starts ago; also has hurdles form this winter which puts him in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Myfanwy's Magic |
11/2(-22%) | (2) Myfanwy's Magic 11/2, Fair maiden hurdler who returns to this sphere following a couple of uninspiring runs over fences. Shapes as though this trip will be within range and could have a part to play if the first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect. Second at Ludlow (3m, good to soft) in November before two lesser shows switched to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Prince Cleni |
9/2(+25%) | (9) Prince Cleni 9/2, The most recent of his 3 wins over fences came on New Year's Day but good run of form came to a grinding halt last time and he hasn't cut much ice in 5 previous starts in this sphere. First hurdle race since 2022; big chance on chase form but disappointed on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) ![]() Elfride |
25/1(+24%) | (12) Elfride 25/1, On a losing run and pulled up early on in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter 13 days ago. Sole win (20 races) was in May 2023; generally struggled since; 6lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Lucky So And So |
9/1(-80%) | (1) Lucky So And So 9/1, On a going day when third at Lingfield (23f, good to soft) last time but a mixed record suggests he's far from certain to back that up. Others look more solid. 0-12 under rules but placed in two of his last four handicaps, both over 2m7f in the mud. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Just Four Fame |
9/1(+73%) | (8) Just Four Fame 9/1, Third in an Aintree bumper in May 2022 but hurdling efforts have been uninspiring in the main. Readily passed over. Switch to handicaps for his last five starts has not gone well, including twice over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Fantomas |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Fantomas 14/1, Scored at Hereford last spring but that's his sole success from 20 starts over hurdles and he was beaten a long way when returning from a break at Exeter in December. Out of form last June/December; respected on other form, including 3m2f win off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Newtonian |
7/2(+56%) | (10) Newtonian 7/2, Off the mark over a similar trip here last spring and posted solid efforts to twice make the frame in the autumn. Latest Exeter run was disappointing but he will be a serious each-way contender if able to bounce back. Sole win off 1lb lower over C&D last May; ran creditably in autumn before two lesser shows. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (5) ![]() Kazontherazz |
12/1(-9%) | (5) Kazontherazz 12/1, Creditable placed efforts on first 3 starts of last season and stepped up on her reappearance display when third of 8 at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) in December. However, she followed that with a no-show at Catterick and this calls for another bounce back. Both wins were in 2021; a respiratory noise was reported when tailed off on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) ![]() Minneigh Mozze |
150/1(-127%) | (11) Minneigh Mozze 150/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers for this yard before making little impact over hurdles for Sheila Lewis. Failed to complete on first start since rejoining this stable in a Ludlow maiden recently and hopes now pinned on the first-time cheekpieces/step up in trip helping to spark improvement. Probably no worthwhile form; new trip/cheekpieces for this second handicap, from 4lb wrong. |
KEPPEL QUEEN was knocking on the door prior to falling in the early stages here on her chasing bow last month. The switch back to hurdles looks the right move and the six-year-old may take advantage for her first career success. Lucky So And So has to be a player judged on his third at Lingfield, while the application of blinkers could aid the cause of Barricane.
No surprise to see KEPPEL QUEEN make a swift return to this sphere having looked completely out of her comfort zone when tried over fences here last month. Prior to that she had shown improved form in a couple of handicap hurdles at around 3m and the 6-y-o is taken to get back on track by winning this. Barricane is now below his last winning mark and will be a danger to all if perked up by the new headgear, while Siberian Star is also accorded respect, along with Myfanwy's Magic.
The most solid options may be SIBERIAN STAR, Keppel Queen and Prince Cleni, who are preferred in that order.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Adela Icon |
(18) 11/2(-38%) | (18) Adela Icon 11/2, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving David Harry Kelly when bit below form tenth of 16 in bumper (2/1) at Cork (16f, soft) 35 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Hooded for 1st time. Reserve 2. Placed in bumpers in 2023, may have needed her comeback, not discounted; hooded; reserve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Come On The Lads |
(2) 13/2(-225%) | (2) Come On The Lads 13/2, Fairly useful winner at 12f on flat. Promising start over hurdles with a hood fitted, again shaping better than bare result when fourth of 21 in novice hurdle (50/1) at this course (16.9f, heavy) 40 days ago. Likely to improve further. Rated 81 on the Flat, showed a bit more when fourth here last month, place chance. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sioux Eagle |
(10) 7/1(+30%) | (10) Sioux Eagle 7/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1¾m) who posted respectable efforts on each of her last 3 starts last summer. Betting can point the way now attentions switch to hurdling. 0-8 on the Flat and rated 73, best form on good ground, worth market check if rain misses. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Paul Collins |
(9) 7/1(+22%) | (9) Paul Collins 7/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 16 in novice hurdle (16/1) at this course (16.2f, heavy) 25 days ago, weakening before last. Handicaps likely to be more his bag but claims of getting in the mix nevertheless. Placed in first maiden hurdle, heavy ground may not have suited latest, don't discount. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Free Flow |
(7) 8/1(-14%) | (7) Free Flow 8/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. 66/1, sixth of 22 in novice hurdle at this course (16.2f, soft) on NH debut 18 days ago. Open to progress. 0-15 on the Flat, showed promise here on hurdles debut, place chance if improves on that. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Asisaid |
(1) 14/1(+65%) | (1) Asisaid 14/1, Fair Flat winner but eleventh of 24 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, soft) in October. Not ruled out now going hurdling. Two-time flat winner at a modest level, stamina a question, watch on hurdles debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Regards To Rose |
(15) 16/1(+68%) | (15) Regards To Rose 16/1, Showed a bit when third in mares' maiden hurdle at Listowel (2m, soft) in September. Ran out in bumper next time and turned in a tame display in first-time tongue strap when fourteenth of 17 in novice hurdle at Limerick (20f, soft) 56 days ago. Point winner, placed on hurdles bow, beaten 85l on latest, down in trip but hard to fancy. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Adaliz |
(12) 20/1(+0%) | (12) Adaliz 20/1, Once-raced maiden. Eleventh of 16 in novice hurdle (12/1) at this course (16.2f, heavy) on NH debut 25 days ago, never involved. Looks one for later on judged on that evidence. Jumping lacked fluency on debut, yard in better form now, worth a market check. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Abitlikethat |
(6) 25/1(+75%) | (6) Abitlikethat 25/1, Policy Maker gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 2¼m) Lastoftheleaders and fairly useful hurdler (stayed 21f) Hit The Headlines. Possibilities. Policy Maker gelding, dam related to winners, worth a market check on debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Morse |
(3) 25/1(+24%) | (3) Morse 25/1, Fairly useful Flat winner (stays 13f). Ninth of 21 in novice hurdle (25/1) at this course (16.9f, heavy) on NH debut 40 days ago. Should have more to offer. 80 rated on the Flat, well behind Come On The Lads on hurdles debut, may need more time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mollys Dolly |
(14) 33/1(+67%) | (14) Mollys Dolly 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. Tenth of 12 in novice hurdle (100/1) at this course (19.2f, heavy) on hurdles bow 25 days ago, weakening before 3 out. Potential on debut in Naas bumper, well beaten on hurdles bow, others appeal more. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Underhercontrol |
(16) 33/1(+67%) | (16) Underhercontrol 33/1, Harzand mare. Held when fell 3 out sole outing in points (Nov 23) and well held thirteenth of 16 in bumper at Cork (16f, soft, 40/1) on NH debut 35 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. No impact on her racecourse bow in a Cork bumper at 40-1; best watched on hurdles debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ivybrook |
(19) 33/1(-175%) | (19) Ivybrook 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 33/1, below form seventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Naas (18.7f, heavy) 26 days ago, weakening before last. Reserve 3. Rated 110, promise in first two maidens, drops in trip, place claims at least; reserve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() I'm Flattered |
(13) 33/1(0%) | (13) I'm Flattered 33/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, eighth of 18 in novice hurdle at Thurles (16.1f, good, 125/1) on hurdles bow 62 days ago. 0-3 on the Flat, promise on hurdles debut at Thurles, outside place claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Weston |
(4) 33/1(+50%) | (4) Weston 33/1, Useful Flat winner. Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles. 125/1, tenth of 15 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (17.2f, soft) 31 days ago. Needs more. Two-time Flat winner in Germany, has lost form, will qualify for handicaps after this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Vallon Du Plessis |
(11) 50/1(+67%) | (11) Vallon Du Plessis 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, twentieth of 22 in novice hurdle at this course (16.2f, soft) 18 days ago. Big odds and no show in three runs here on soft-heavy, hard to make a case for. |
WHIMSY can gain an overdue win over jumps here. The mare has been placed eight times over timber, most recently when third in a decent rated novice event at Fairyhouse 16 days ago. The six-year-old has got her head in front three times on the Flat, so she knows how to win and this looks like a nice opportunity for her now over hurdles. The Gordon Elliott-trained Paul Collins was well beaten when sixth here last month but this looks like an easier task now and he's a contender on previous form. Come On The Lads was a moderate enough fourth here last time but may get closer in this company.
WHIMSY is a likeable sort who again ran well on the back of a short break when third at Fairyhouse 16 days ago and she's fancied to deservedly open her account in this sphere. Come On The Lads and Free Flow both appeal as likely improvers and head up the dangers.
WHIMSY (nap) can get off the mark. She sets a solid standard and a repeat of her Galway or Cheltenham efforts should suffice

![]() Ambion View |
(1) 6/4(+55%) | (1) Ambion View 6/4, Modest form in trio of bumper starts but different proposition switched to this sphere, winning maiden here (18.5f) in October. Fell next time (travelling well at the time) and ran up to best when second in a Wincanton novice (15.2f) 3 weeks ago. Possibilities again. Course winner in October and ran well in defeat last month; likely contender again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() South Omo Zone |
(4) 9/4(+0%) | (4) South Omo Zone 9/4, Promising sort who landed bumper at Hereford for Anthony Charlton and followed up for his new handler in 8-runner novice at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) on hurdles bow 36 days ago. Has more to offer so he's a likely player. Impressed on last month's stable/hurdle debut, winning readily by 8l at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mythical Moon |
(3) 11/4(+17%) | (3) Mythical Moon 11/4, Fair form when runner-up on second of 2 starts in bumpers and took to this discipline well after 6 months off when bagging 14-runner novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) in October. Solid placed efforts have followed over C&D/Doncaster since and he ought to be thereabouts again. Placed twice (once over C&D) since beating a subsequent Grade 2 winner on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Close Combat |
(8) 12/1(+14%) | (8) Close Combat 12/1, Well-beaten on his only start in bumpers but C&D hurdles debut effort not without hope and he duly took a step forward when second of 6 in juvenile hurdle at Chepstow (16f, heavy) 24 days ago. That may not prove his limit and he's in receipt of weight all round here. Well held over C&D on hurdle debut but was second against own age-group two weeks later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Zainy Champ |
(7) 16/1(+52%) | (7) Zainy Champ 16/1, Hooded for debut, offered something to work on when third in 4-runner bumper at Doncaster (16.6f) on debut back in March. Represents a yard firmly amongst the winners now hurdling back from 11 months off and the betting can prove a useful guide. Third of four in Doncaster bumper last March; not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Berkshire Lad |
(5) 50/1(-79%) | (5) Berkshire Lad 50/1, Fair form in bumpers and showed benefit of hurdles debut experience when third of 10 in maiden at Southwell (15.8f) 18 days ago. Needs to take another step forward if he's to feature here, though. Improved form when placed in Southwell maiden this month; not ruled out each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stinginhisstep |
(6) 250/1(-25%) | (6) Stinginhisstep 250/1, Headstrong sort who finished down the field all 3 starts in bumpers and similar story when midfield in 12-runner novice hurdle at Chepstow (2m) 12 days ago, tiring 2 out. Best watched. Displayed some promise before weakening on hurdle debut; needs to learn to settle. |
It's hard to rule out any of the penalised runners, and only marginal preference can be afforded to SOUTH OMO ZONE. On target in a Hereford bumper in January of last year, the son of Court Cave was able to defy an absence to make a sparkling stable/hurdling bow at Wincanton last month. He holds a speculative Grade 1 entry at Cheltenham next month and looks a nice prospect. Mythical Moon (third) was defeated by Kap Vert (winner) over C&D in December but can close the gap on 6lb better terms.
SOUTH OMO ZONE has few miles on the clock and made a smooth transition to hurdling when successful on yard debut at Wincanton 5 weeks ago. Open to improvement, he's narrowly selected to follow up. Mythical Moon and Kap Vert may be the pair to give Olly Murphy's 7-y-o most to think about.
The most interesting runner is SOUTH OMO ZONE, who won stylishly on last month's stable/hurdle debut at Wincanton.

![]() Bear Market |
(5) 2/1(+11%) | (5) Bear Market 2/1, Won sole start in point bumpers and looked an above-average prospect in overcoming prevailing inexperience when following up in an Aintree bumper for Philip Rowley in May. Lost action when pulled up on stable/hurdling bow at Warwick and obviously capable of much better. Had wind op. Won a point bumper and Aintree bumper; pulled up on yard/hurdle debut; wind op soon after. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Prophesea |
(3) 9/4(+25%) | (3) Prophesea 9/4, Point/bumper winner who has progressed with each start in this sphere, scoring with more than bare margins imply in a 13-runner Wincanton novice (19.8f, soft) in December. Ran at least as well in defeat switched to a handicap at Newbury last time and merits plenty of respect back in novice company. Progressive; back down in trip but but he is a leading contender on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Disco Davis |
(2) 3/1(+0%) | (2) Disco Davis 3/1, Looked the likeliest winner on first 2 starts over hurdles, going best when falling last at Uttoxeter (19.9f) in October. Finished fifth of 13 in a well-contested race at Exeter in December and didn't need to improve to get off the mark at Lingfield (2m) 3 weeks ago. Remains capable of better. Needs better in this company but he scored easily at Lingfield (2m, heavy) and should stay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Carismatic Soldier |
(1) 7/2(-17%) | (1) Carismatic Soldier 7/2, Runner-up sole outing in bumpers and built on hurdling debut promise when off the mark in10-runner novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, heavy) 47 days ago. Step up in trip bound to suit and open to further improvement. Something to learn about jumping but he rallied strongly to win at Chepstow (2m, heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tuscany |
(9) 33/1(-106%) | (9) Tuscany 33/1, Showed more than in a course bumper when fifth of 9 in novice hurdle (33/1) at Hereford (21.7f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 37 days ago. More required to play a leading role. Hinted at some ability on both starts but others have much more solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Marengo Bay |
(8) 50/1(-25%) | (8) Marengo Bay 50/1, Well-bred and in top hands but has shown little in a pair of novice hurdles. Jumping mistakes featured when he was tailed off at Kempton and pulled up at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Delgany Deadline |
(7) 250/1(-213%) | (7) Delgany Deadline 250/1, Looks one for low-grade handicaps after this run. 28-1 and 66-1 when soundly beaten in two 2m maidens at Uttoxeter. |
Bear Market was pulled up on his debut for Nicky Henderson here in December when clearly looking as though something was amiss. The six-year-old is worth another chance to leave that performance behind him, especially following wind surgery, but the vote goes to DISCO DAVIS. Dan Skelton's gelding is beginning to get the hang of things over timber and his recent Lingfield victory gave the impression he has further improvement in the locker. Carismatic Soldier and Prophesea complete the shortlist.
DISCO DAVIS seemed to relish the return to front-running tactics when off the mark at Lingfield 3 weeks ago and continues to give the impression there's a bigger performance in him, so he's taken to defy a penalty. Carismatic Soldier still has room for improvement in his jumping but should relish the step up in trip, with Prophesea much respected, also.
The top three, headed by CARISMATIC SOLDIER, dominate calculations, with the added possibility that wind surgery helps Bear Market.

(9) 7/4(-59%) | (9) Runcok 7/4, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 9 in bumper at Fairyhouse (16f, good to soft, 11/4) 41 days ago. Makes hurdles debut and of obvious interest. Expensive to follow in bumpers, should be capable of better over timber, can't discount. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fortunate Lighting |
(4) 4/1(-60%) | (4) Fortunate Lighting 4/1, Promising type. 22/1, sixth of 19 in novice hurdle at Tipperary (20f, good to soft) on hurdles bow, not knocked about (race is good form). Off 10 months. Bumper winner open to progress and can go well on return. Won a Galway bumper in 2023, promise on hurdles bow last April, off since, check market. |

![]() Quantum Leap |
(3) 11/2(+61%) | (3) Quantum Leap 11/2, Fairly useful Flat winner, making GB/IRE jumps debut having left Edward Bethell. Won off 82 on the Flat for Ed Bethell, may need further than this, hooded, check market. |

![]() Jazzy Rock |
(14) 20/1(+80%) | (14) Jazzy Rock 20/1, Modest maiden on the Flat, making jumps debut after 16 months off. Rated 51 on the Flat, off since poor effort in October 2023, watching brief advised. |

![]() Way Down We Go |
(11) 25/1(+75%) | (11) Way Down We Go 25/1, Where Or When gelding. Dam lightly raced over hurdles. 7yo Where Or When gelding, not an obvious type on paper, best watched on belated debut. |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mooretown Lad |
(2) 33/1(+50%) | (2) Mooretown Lad 33/1, Fairly useful Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden over hurdles. 250/1, nineteenth of 20 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 27 days ago. Flat winner, beaten out of sight in two maiden hurdles, could be one for handicaps. |

![]() Nukie's Artic |
(19) 50/1(0%) | (19) Nukie's Artic 50/1, Arctic Cosmos gelding. Dam (h95), lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 29f) Captain CJ. RESERVE. Son of Arctic Cosmos may need further in time, best watched on debut; reserve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Patty O'farrell |
(15) 200/1(0%) | (15) Patty O'farrell 200/1, Ninth of 12 in novice hurdle (150/1) at this course (19.2f, heavy) 25 days ago. Well beaten in first two hurdles, hood removed but she can only be watched for now. |
RUNCOK looks to have found a nice opportunity here on his jumping debut. The Cokoriko gelding has shown a decent level in bumpers and wasn't beaten far when fifth to De Temps En Temps at Fairyhouse last month. This looks like a weak enough event for the course. Fortunate Lighting has had lengthy enough gaps between runs but was a Galway bumper winner a couple of years ago and shaped with promise on his hurdling debut at Tipperary when last seen last April. Lambay Island was a moderate enough fourth on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse but is entitled to improve on that display.
Bumper winner FORTUNATE LIGHTING showed plenty in a Tipperary novice that worked out well on her hurdles debut back in April and could make a successful return. Runcok and Grey Pharoh are respected starting out in this sphere for top yards, while Spread Your Wings can do better again.
A chance is taken on LAMBAY ISLAND. He showed a bit of promise on his hurdles bow at Fairyhouse and his yard is in much better form now

![]() Stans The Man |
(4) 5/2(+55%) | (4) Stans The Man 5/2, Done well since switched back to fences, landing 4-runner C&D handicap in November prior to following up at Doncaster (3¼m, good) later that month. Ran right up to best when second at Wincanton over Christmas and respected once more despite career-high mark. Won twice when blinkers were added in November and ran big race in defeat on Boxing Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Atlanta Brave |
(5) 11/4(+17%) | (5) Atlanta Brave 11/4, Irish point winner who scored twice over hurdles in January 2023. Initially took well to fences last term but disappointing on the whole in 4 attempts this time around, including in cheekpieces (retained here) last 2 starts. Mark has eased further at least. Promising novice chase last season but not firing on all cylinders this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Alcedo |
(3) 11/4(-38%) | (3) Alcedo 11/4, Lightly-raced bumper/hurdles winner who was clearly all the better for his return/chase debut run here when winning 8-runner Ffos Las handicap chase (19.4f) 2 weeks ago, knuckling down well to get up late. This trip expected to be within range and definite claims up 4 lb. Kept on well to snatch narrow win over an extended 2m3f and can improve again over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Largy Poet |
(1) 3/1(-9%) | (1) Largy Poet 3/1, Maiden/novice hurdle winner who was only just denied on handicap bow at Huntingdon last term. Much better for return when fifth at Wincanton and this chasing type (runner-up in Irish point) needs considering. 2-6 in hurdles; drops in grade for chase debut and has Irish point experience to call upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Karuma Grey |
(2) 16/1(-14%) | (2) Karuma Grey 16/1, Defied huge odds on the back of another stable switch when making a winning return in 9-runner Ffos Las handicap chase (21.5f) in December. However, ran no sort of race in follow-up bid when tailed-off last of 4 at Leicester (22.7f) 31 days ago. Steps up in trip now. Caused 100-1 shock on stable debut in December but ran no race on his latest outing. |
Alcedo didn't show much on his chasing bow, but it was a different story at Ffos Las next time where he recorded a narrow success. Venetia Williams' charge is 4lb higher and must be respected, but the vote goes to STANS THE MAN. Ella Pickard's eight-year-old came up just short in his hat-trick bid at Wincanton on Boxing Day but may well have more to offer. Largy Poet heads the remainder.
ALCEDO left his reappearance effort well behind when making his second chase start a winning one at Ffos Las 15 days ago, knuckling down well to edge ahead in the dying strides. Looking the type to progress further and still unexposed at this sort of trip, he looks to hold sound claims again from this 4 lb higher mark. C&D winner Stans The Man did well returned to this sphere late last year and he, along with chase debutant Largy Poet, can provide chief resistance.
Recent 2m3f chase winner ALCEDO looks well worth another crack at 3m and gets the nod.

![]() Demnat |
(1) 11/4(-10%) | (1) Demnat 11/4, Made light of a 32-month absence on his yard debut when easily landing 5-runner handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, soft) in February. Didn't fire subsequently but returned with a respectable third at Newbury (22,4f) on reappearance in December and big player down in grade. Highly tried last season and he made a positive return to action at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jupiter Des Bordes |
(8) 11/4(+54%) | (8) Jupiter Des Bordes 11/4, Fair winning hurdler in France who offered plenty to work on when third of 8 in handicap chase at this C&D (good to soft) on UK debut 32 days ago. Should improve. Ex-French, lightly raced; stayed on positively behind a progressive winner here recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() King's Threshold |
(4) 6/1(-50%) | (4) King's Threshold 6/1, Hurdles winner who improved for switch to chasing, staying on to lead close home when off the mark in 11-runner handicap chase at Ascot (21f) in March. Failed to fire first 2 starts this winter but rejuvenated by a first-time tongue strap when scoring at Huntingdon early last month. Has had wind op Back to something like his best in winning at Huntingdon when in first-time tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pepe Le Moko |
(7) 13/2(+19%) | (7) Pepe Le Moko 13/2, C&D winner who turned in his best effort of the season when fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, soft) 16 days ago. Needs considering. C&D winner back on a good mark and Ludlow last time was more encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mt Fugi Park |
(5) 8/1(+33%) | (5) Mt Fugi Park 8/1, Cost £290,000 after making a successful debut in the Irish pointing field and looked a useful prospect in winning his first 2 starts over hurdles. However, things haven't quite gone to plan since and he offered little sent chasing at Newbury on his reappearance in December. Point and dual hurdle winner; pulled up on chase debut but can be given another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sageburg County |
(6) 8/1(-60%) | (6) Sageburg County 8/1, Three-time winner over fences last season who returned from a break with a good third back at that venue in October and went well for a long way when fourth at Ascot (21f) next time. Departed before the race began to develop at Doncaster on most recent outing. Three-time chase winner; going well when unseating last time and he's off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stormin Crossgales |
(2) 16/1(-100%) | (2) Stormin Crossgales 16/1, Made the most of a good opportunity when following up his Doncaster success in 4-runner affair at Southwell in January. Ran poorly back at aforementioned track last time, however. Ran no race back at Doncaster last time but could still have a future off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Major Fortune |
(3) 20/1(-67%) | (3) Major Fortune 20/1, Big improver when stepped up to 2½m+ last season, winning 5 on the spin and picked up where he left off when scoring with plenty in hand at Newton Abbot (17f) in October. Has gone off the boil since and needs to get back on track now switching to chasing. Even if taking to fences like a duck to water he does look on a tough mark. |
King's Threshold regained the winning thread in class 4 company at Huntingdon last month and should mount a bold bid off 3lb higher, but this represents a step up in grade. With that in mind, DEMNAT gets the vote. Venetia Williams' eight-year-old made the frame in a deeper event at Newbury in November and he could take full advantage of an unchanged mark. Stormin Crossgales ran too badly to be true when pulled up at Doncaster last time and may bounce back to have a say.
DEMNAT made a satisfactory reappearance when third at Newbury in December and, with his yard back amongst the winners again, he makes a fair amount of appeal dropping in grade. Jupiter des Bordes and King's Threshold head the dangers.
Topweight DEMNAT threatened to make a winning return at Newbury until tiring late on over the extended 2m6f there.

![]() Familiar Dreams |
(1) 5/4(+0%) | (1) Familiar Dreams 5/4, Promising type. Four-time bumper winner last season and also successful on the Flat last summer. 9/4, third of 12 in maiden at this course (19.2f, heavy) on hurdles bow 25 days ago. Should improve and the one to beat. Bumper and Flat winner, shaped nicely on hurdles bow here last month, big claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Toad Hall |
(13) 7/2(-40%) | (13) Toad Hall 7/2, Evens, second of 11 in bumper at Clonmel (16.6f, heavy) on debut in April 2023. Not seen since but top yard perseveres and Paul Townend seemingly prefers him to Leaky Cauldron. Good form in sole bumper in April 2023, absent since but Townend rides, check market. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Leaky Cauldron |
(7) 8/1(+0%) | (7) Leaky Cauldron 8/1, Point winner but well beaten on Leopardstown bumper debut over Christmas. Will surely do better at some point but Paul Townend is on the yard's other runner. Point winner, no impact in a bumper on stable debut, Townend prefers stablemate. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cappa Hill |
(4) 10/1(+38%) | (4) Cappa Hill 10/1, Reached frame on complete start in point. Tongue strap on, fourth of 11 in maiden hurdle at Cork (16.9f, soft, 16/1) on NH debut 35 days ago. Promise in points and in first start under Rules, place chance if jumps better than latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pookie Holler |
(10) 12/1(+0%) | (10) Pookie Holler 12/1, Promising sort. Third in sole point. 20/1, eighth of 18 in good maiden hurdle at Naas (19.5f, good to soft) on NH debut 67 days ago. Open to progress. Looked in need of further on hurdles bow (19.5f), interesting with owner up for first time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Our Soldier |
(9) 16/1(+52%) | (9) Our Soldier 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 8/1, third of 8 in maiden at Down Royal (17.2f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 57 days ago. Open to improvement. Promise in two of three starts including on hurdles bow latest after a break, may improve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Westandtogether |
(14) 16/1(+76%) | (14) Westandtogether 16/1, Westerner mare. Sister to fairly useful 21f hurdle winner Top Target. Dam unraced. Likely best watched on debut. Westerner mare is a sister to a hurdles winner, worth a market check on debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sir Carnegie |
(11) 25/1(+75%) | (11) Sir Carnegie 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Pulled up in maiden hurdle at this course (23.3f, soft, 250/1) 18 days ago. Booked for another struggle. Huge odds and no impact in three maiden hurdles at a variety of trips, one for handicaps. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Mail Train |
(12) 25/1(+75%) | (12) The Mail Train 25/1, Twice-raced maiden. 150/1, sixth of 11 in maiden hurdle at Limerick (21f, soft) 55 days ago. Modest form in points and first two maiden hurdles, needs more to make an impact here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Milanova |
(8) 33/1(+34%) | (8) Milanova 33/1, 80/1, seventh of 20 in maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) on NH debut 27 days ago. Up in trip. Didn't jump that well on debut at Fairyhouse, needs a lot more to make an impact here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bitofajokelike |
(3) 100/1(+33%) | (3) Bitofajokelike 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. 150/1, ninth of 14 in maiden hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy) 24 days ago. Up in trip. Outsider. Beaten over 90l in both starts over hurdles, makes no appeal. |
FAMILIAR DREAMS needs to jump a bit better on her second outing over hurdles but is a classy sort and can get off the mark now over timber. The four-time bumper winner was no match for the exciting Maughreen on her hurdling bow, fading late on to finish third here last month. With that experience under her belt, she should step forward though. Willie Mullins saddles two in this and Paul Townend rides the long absent Toad Hall. The Fame And Glory gelding chased home a smart horse in Shannon Royale in a bumper back in April 2023. His stablemate Leaky Cauldron may do better now over jumps having been well beaten in a Leopardstown bumper at Christmas.
The classy FAMILIAR DREAMS made a decent start to her hurdle career here last month and should prove hard to beat unless the market vibes are strong surrounding Willie Mullins hurdle debutant Toad Hall, who has been absent for nearly 2 years since finishing a promising second in a Clonmel bumper. The other Mullins runner Leaky Cauldron and Henry de Bromhead's Pookie Holler may fight it out for third.
It is hard to look past FAMILIAR DREAMS. She didn't jump well when third here on her hurdles bow but she should improve plenty for that

![]() Don't Rightly Know |
(1) 13/8(-9%) | (1) Don't Rightly Know 13/8, Lightly-raced 10-y-o who was consistent rather than progressive over hurdles but this point winner took a big step forward when making a winning chase bow over C&D on return and went forward again when following up in similar event to this at Newbury last month. Penalised here but has more to come. Late-maturing front-runner who dominated in this grade at Newbury last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() La Malmason |
(5) 11/4(-100%) | (5) La Malmason 11/4, Has returned an improved model this season, winning 9-runner handicap chase at Fairyhouse before an excellent second in listed handicap at Limerick over Christmas. Obvious chance on these terms if seeing out longer trip. Creditable second of 14 in 2m3f Listed handicap in December; big player if new trip suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Malina Girl |
(2) 11/2(+15%) | (2) Malina Girl 11/2, Useful chaser but she has failed to recapture her best since falling at Cheltenham last winter. Should at least be sharper now after her comeback run at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day. Won valuable Cheltenham handicap in November 2023 but has not been in the same form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ilovethenightlife |
(3) 10/1(+50%) | (3) Ilovethenightlife 10/1, A fairly useful winning hurdler who built on an encouraging chase debut when landing a Kempton handicap in November. Found out in better company since, however, and looks up against it again. Won Kempton handicap in the autumn but has a bit to find here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lady Balko |
(4) 16/1(-14%) | (4) Lady Balko 16/1, Improved for the switch to fences this term, completing hat-trick of handicap wins at Hereford. However, last 2 starts have been poor and headgear now applied. Enjoyed productive 2024 (six wins) but suffered a worrying slump in form last month. |
Gavin Cromwell appears to hold a strong hand with last year's runner-up Malina Girl and La Malmason. The latter, who receives 4lb from her stablemate whilst being rated 2lb superior, is perhaps the trainer's best chance, but it's DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW who shades preference. The 10-year-old bolted up over C&D on her chasing bow in December before claiming Listed honours at Newbury latest and, with further progress likely, the hat-trick is very much on the cards.
This looks between thriving mares DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW and La Malmason, with slight preference for the former with her stamina proven over this far.
Preference is for thriving front-runner DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW (nap) who has won over C&D and in this grade this winter..

![]() Mayo Shirocco |
(7) 5/2(+9%) | (7) Mayo Shirocco 5/2, Shirocco mare who won on point debut (Oct 27). Well worth a look switched to hurdling in a race lacking a great deal of depth. Won a point, different ground here but she has some level of ability and she could go well. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Affinity Rock |
(1) 4/1(-60%) | (1) Affinity Rock 4/1, Winning pointer who ran to a modest level on Rules bow when sixth of 18 in maiden hurdle at Naas (19.6f) 67 days ago, no extra between last 2. May do better with that under her belt. Point winner, promise on hurdles debut at Naas, this trip might suit better, could go well. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Milanaway |
(8) 7/1(+0%) | (8) Milanaway 7/1, Fair hurdler. Remains a maiden. 18/1, ninth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (20f, soft) 57 days ago. Capable of playing her part if shrugging that effort off. 100 rated, lacks consistency, hard to know what to expect from her back in a maiden. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Knocknagoran Lady |
(6) 8/1(+33%) | (6) Knocknagoran Lady 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue strap on for 1st time, produced best effort yet when third of 19 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, soft, 17/2) 70 days ago. Rated 86, beaten off that mark in a h'cap latest, unlikely to be good enough to win this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Joshua's Daylami |
(4) 12/1(0%) | (4) Joshua's Daylami 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1, fifth of 12 in bumper at Naas (18.7f, heavy) 26 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Up in trip. Promise in bumpers, bred to stay so this trip might suit on hurdles debut, check market. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cullig |
(3) 33/1(+50%) | (3) Cullig 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Eleventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Naas (19.5f, good to soft, 66/1) 67 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. 0-3 in maiden hurdles, tongue tie on after another heavy defeat at Naas, others preferred. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Neska Blue |
(9) 50/1(-25%) | (9) Neska Blue 50/1, Libertarian mare. Placed once from 3 starts in points but offered little equipped with a tongue strap (retained here) when last of 6 in bumper at Limerick (16f, heavy) on NH debut 24 days ago. Significantly up in trip for hurdles bow. 0-3 in points, 80-1 and well beaten in a Limerick bumper, best watched on hurdles bow. |
AFFINITY ROCK ran well for a long way in a stronger maiden hurdle at Naas in December and should play a big part in this now. The daughter of Affinisea had won a point-to-point at Dromahane in impressive fashion the previous month and going up in trip now should suit. Mayo Shirocco is another point-to-point winner who has to be on the shortlist. The Colin Bowe-trained mare won between the flags in October and the third horse was placed in a bumper at Newcastle recently. The Gordon Elliott-trained newcomer Creadan Grace is one to note too.
Not a strong mares' maiden by any means but MAYO SHIROCCO arrives having tasted success on her only start in points back in October and could be the way to go on hurdles debut before market clues. Creadan Grace representing Gordon Elliott is a newcomer to note, with Milanaway next best.
A chance is taken on AFFINITY ROCK who may be suited by the step up in trip after running a decent race on her hurdles bow at Naas

![]() Jacks Parrot |
(5) 4/1(-33%) | (5) Jacks Parrot 4/1, Has improved since joining this yard, winning at Uttoxeter and Perth in April, and upped his game further when good second in Tommy Whittle at Haydock in December. Not disgraced at Newcastle since but may need testing ground to be seen to best effect. Creditable second in Tommy Whittle in December; big player in first marathon chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Art Decco |
(2) 9/2(+10%) | (2) Art Decco 9/2, Resumed progress on his return when narrowly failing to complete a 4-timer in C&D event in December. Creditable fifth to Planned Paradise off 5 lb higher at Windsor since and should be in the mix again. Ended last season with three wins and ran big race in defeat over C&D on December return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Neo King |
(9) 5/1(+17%) | (9) Neo King 5/1, Multiple point winner who made first real impact for this yard when third on handicap chase debut here (3m) last month. Return to better ground will be a help over this longer trip and he's one to consider. Good third over 3m here on handicap chase debut; looks interesting over new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pimlico Point |
(4) 11/2(+21%) | (4) Pimlico Point 11/2, Low-mileage 8-y-o who got off the mark in this sphere in 4-runner handicap here a year ago. Very nearly added to that at Uttoxeter in May and easy to excuse his comeback run at Taunton 17 days ago. Not taken lightly in first-time headgear over a trip which should suit. Safely held this month, after layoff, but has a chance if judged on last spring's form. |

![]() Planned Paradise |
(6) 6/1(+8%) | (6) Planned Paradise 6/1, Perth winner in July and resumed winning ways at Windsor last month, looking suited by the return to a marathon trip (jumped better than usual). Respected for all he's not an obvious type to follow up. Produced good performance at Windsor (3m4f) last month and recent 5lb rise is manageable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Gold Clermont |
(8) 6/1(+33%) | (8) Gold Clermont 6/1, Won a couple of staying chases at Fakenham and Fontwell last season and returned to form fitted with this headgear when third at Bangor 2 weeks ago. Needs to build on that in this better race, though. Returned to form over 3m this month and today's move back up in trip is sure to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fortescue |
(1) 9/1(-20%) | (1) Fortescue 9/1, Winless for 3 years and poor efforts last 2 starts after a decent return. This veteran is not easy to recommend. Began season with pretty good second but well held twice since; younger rivals preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Good Work |
(7) 14/1(-56%) | (7) Good Work 14/1, Finally off the mark at Uttoxeter last month, another good effort under this rider. However, 3 lb higher mark in better race makes him easy enough to take on. Belatedly off the mark over fences last month (3m2f); tries a new trip here. |
PLANNED PARADISE impressed when running out a comfortable winner at Windsor over an extended 3m4f last month and he was showing no signs of stopping over the trip. Upped 5lb with his stamina drawn out further, he gets the vote to go in again for a yard which tends to excel with these types. Fellow last-time-out winner Good Work can emerge as the main danger upped 3lb for an authoritative display over 3m2f at Uttoxeter, while Fortescue could go well too.
PIMLICO POINT is an interesting contender stepping up in distance and could be the answer in what looks an open staying contest. Neo King shaped much better than he had been doing over hurdles when third here last month and he can progress again under less testing conditions.
Pretty good cases can be made for most of these but NEO KING probably still has potential and is given the vote.

![]() Rokathir |
(13) 7/2(+30%) | (13) Rokathir 7/2, Lightly-raced type was in the process over running well when departing 2 out on chasing debut. Very interesting back over smaller obstacles on handicap debut. Ordinary maiden hurdle form, in contention when falling two out in a chase here on latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Heroes Rise |
(4) 5/1(-50%) | (4) Heroes Rise 5/1, Possibly unsuited by greater emphasis on speed when third of 4 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft, 11/10) 36 days ago. Makes appeal now back up in trip for handicap hurdle debut. Gave a good display over 2m7f at Thurles, not quite at the same level over 2m4f on latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lucky Viv |
(6) 5/1(+33%) | (6) Lucky Viv 5/1, Capitalised on reduced mark when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at this course (23.3f, soft) 18 days ago but tougher task from 7 lb higher. Stayed well when winning over just short of 3m here last time, fair chance off 7lb higher. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Roxhill Roise |
(5) 7/1(+13%) | (5) Roxhill Roise 7/1, Left poorly placed when respectable eighth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Navan (20f, good to soft, 13/2) 68 days ago and should remain competitive if in the same form. Both wins have come over 2m5f at Tramore, ran creditably in bumpers at this track. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Buck Rogers |
(11) 10/1(+0%) | (11) Buck Rogers 10/1, Back to form when creditable third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft) 16 days ago. Up in trip and best run in handicaps to date has come over this distance. Over four years since he won a race, recent Fairyhouse third offers some hope. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Arion Soldier |
(1) 10/1(+50%) | (1) Arion Soldier 10/1, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Last of 12 in novice chase at Galway (22.5f, soft, 28/1) on debut over fences 117 days ago. Should fare better back over smaller obstacles on handicap hurdle debut. Showed stamina with maiden win at Cork last April, tailed off over fences on reappearance. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Lucky Lobster |
(16) 10/1(-11%) | (16) The Lucky Lobster 10/1, Back to form with creditable third of 10 in handicap hurdle (7/1) at this course (19.6f, soft) 39 days ago. Back up in trip could bring out further improvement. Best form represented by a second over this trip at Kilbeggan last June, deserves respect. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Thegraveyardbookie |
(7) 14/1(-17%) | (7) Thegraveyardbookie 14/1, Turned in best effort of the season in first time tongue strap when creditable fifth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (24f, soft, 16/1) 55 days ago. Entitled to build on that effort with the addition of cheekpieces. Limerick fifth at Christmas was reasonably encouraging, needs to find extra. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Driveonwill |
(14) 14/1(-87%) | (14) Driveonwill 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden improved for switch to handicaps when fourth of 17 in handicap hurdle at this course (19.2f, heavy, 20/1) 25 days ago. Up in trip and holds an each-way chance. Made a bright start in handicap company with fourth at this venue, longer trip may suit. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ballinoe Blaze |
(10) 14/1(+13%) | (10) Ballinoe Blaze 14/1, Made errors when fifth of 14 in novice hurdle (33/1) at Limerick (19f, soft) 54 days ago. Significantly up in trip and needs to brush up on jumping to be competitive on handicap hurdle debut Third in an ordinary maiden on his penultimate start, opening mark is possibly a bit high. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Plain Or Battered |
(15) 14/1(+13%) | (15) Plain Or Battered 14/1, Best forgiven latest effort when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Limerick (24f, soft, 10/1) 55 days ago and remains one to be interested in wearing first-time blinkers on his return from a short-break. Navan third in December was encouraging after a break, pulled up at Limerick, blinkers now. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Topgun Simmy |
(2) 14/1(+36%) | (2) Topgun Simmy 14/1, Course winner shaped with little encouragement on first run since leaving John Joseph Hanlon when fourth of 7 in novice hurdle at this course (19.2f, heavy) 25 days ago, although faced inadequate test. Up in trip should help but others have stronger claims. Maiden winner at this venue last summer, out of his depth in a decent contest last month. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cosmo Renfro |
(8) 20/1(+20%) | (8) Cosmo Renfro 20/1, Raced on unfavoured part of track when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Gowran (24.3f, heavy, 18/1) 29 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Good form in first half of 2024, failed to complete twice over fences, poor run on latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Carrig Sam |
(3) 25/1(+38%) | (3) Carrig Sam 25/1, Shaped with promise on reappearance last month before unseating latest. Needs to prove he stays this far, however. Two Fairyhouse wins three seasons ago, no sign of his best in three runs for this yard. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cozone |
(12) 50/1(-25%) | (12) Cozone 50/1, Ran poorly 33/1, ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Naas (18.7f, heavy) 26 days ago. Significantly back up in trip but hard to recommend on recent form. Having a busy season and has lost form since second to a good yardstick here in November. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Influential Lady |
(9) 50/1(+0%) | (9) Influential Lady 50/1, Out of sorts in various events and hard to recommend at present. Dual-purpose type whose form has been generally weak since a Flat success last June. |
There looks to be a race in ROKATHIR off this kind of mark. The Muhtathir gelding was running a big race in a beginners chase here last month before falling at the second last. That looked like an improved performance from what he had shown over timber last season and he could be nicely treated here off a mark of 97. Lucky Viv got a 7lb rise for her victory over slightly shorter here 18 days ago. She saw out the trip well that day and should be competitive again. Heroes Rise was a solid third at Fairyhouse last time, despite getting turned over at a short price. He is respected but may need better ground.
Lightly-raced ROKATHIR was in the process of making a promising chase debut when falling last month, and he remains unexposed on handicap hurdle debut. Plain Or Battered would be a big threat if returning to form following a short break and a change of headgear, so he heads the dangers along with Heroes Rise who should be seen the better effect facing this greater stamina test.
A hopeful vote goes to ROKATHIR who was in the process of running well when falling two out in a chase here last month

![]() Ascending Lark |
(1) 4/6(+47%) | (1) Ascending Lark 4/6, Made it 3-3 over hurdles since joining Harry Derham when seeing off 4 rivals in 17f Newcastle handicap on reappearance 24 days ago. Would have been a more convincing winner but for mistakes at the last 2 flights and likely still well treated after a 4 lb rise. 3-3 over hurdles and could still be ahead of the game after recent 4lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Shantwopointfive |
(3) 11/8(+8%) | (3) Shantwopointfive 11/8, Irish point winner who landed a 2¾m Cartmel maiden hurdle last May. Only fifth in Leicester handicap on her return in December but resumed her progression when readily seeing off 10 rivals in 20.5f Southwell handicap 18 days ago. Likely more to come but shorter trip now asks a different question. 2-4 over hurdles after emphatic 2m4f success this month; drops back in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Presenting Nelly |
(4) 25/1(+50%) | (4) Presenting Nelly 25/1, Disappointing in 4 outings since a promising reappearance, the last 2 for new trainer Alison Thorpe. Out of form for Dan Skelton in the autumn and twice well beaten for new yard this year. |
SHANTWOPOINTFIVE looks a handicap hurdler very much on the up and, on the back of a bloodless victory over an extended 2m4f at Southwell earlier this month, she gets the nod to go in again despite an 8lb rise. Ascending Lark had more in hand than the winning margin suggests when scoring over 2m1f at Newcastle last month and she commands respect, likewise Masked Dance.
ASCENDING LARK can make light of a 4 lb rise and extend her unbeaten record since joining Harry Derham to 4. Shantwopointfive also brings a progressive profile but does need to prove she's as effective over this shorter trip, a comment which also applies to Masked Dance.
Raised only 4lb since fending off a plucky rival at Newcastle last month, ASCENDING LARK can remain unbeaten over hurdles.

![]() Hammer The Hammer |
(1) 1/1(+56%) | (1) Hammer The Hammer 1/1, Fair form when making the frame both starts last year, no match for a promising newcomer when second of 4 in maiden at Ayr (5f, good to firm, 9/4) on second outing in July. Could be in the mix after 7 months off. Form of his Ayr 2nd when last seen looks solid; open to improvement; respected after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sudden Flight |
(3) 2/1(+33%) | (3) Sudden Flight 2/1, Made some appeal on paper and shaped well amidst greenness when third of 10 in maiden at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 10/3) on debut 20 days ago. Entitled to progress with that experience behind him. Promising 3rd at Wolverhampton (6f) three weeks ago; open to improvement and 5f no concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Coeur Jaune |
(6) 13/2(-86%) | (6) Coeur Jaune 13/2, Made a promising debut when third behind the subsequent Queen Mary winner at Nottingham last summer. Only fifth of 7 in maiden at Ripon (5f, good, 11/8) 2 weeks later, but she's well worth another chance on her return. Debut 3rd was a solid run; absent since flopping on soft two weeks later; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Queenofdestruction |
(8) 7/1(-133%) | (8) Queenofdestruction 7/1, Runner-up in 3 of her 5 starts and beaten only 1½ lengths when fourth of 6 in novice at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 10/3) 11 days ago. Can make her presence felt with hood on 1st time. Expensive to follow after a near-miss on debut; leading form claims in a new hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Youvegotoshowmeluv |
(4) 18/1(+0%) | (4) Youvegotoshowmeluv 18/1, Encouraging third at Catterick on debut but well held both starts since, in first-time hood when fifth of 10 in novice (50/1) at this C&D in October. Tongue strap applied after 4 months off. Failed to build on debut promise in two subsequent 2yo runs; tongue tied for his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Snow Creek |
(2) 100/1(-614%) | (2) Snow Creek 100/1, Still in need of the experience but showed more than on his first start when fifth of 6 in novice at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 50/1) 11 days ago, closing up late. Further progress required. Modest form in two novice runs on Tapeta this year; handicaps beckon after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bothy Park |
(5) 150/1(-355%) | (5) Bothy Park 150/1, In hood/tongue strap first time up, shaped as if one for the longer term when sixth of 12 in maiden at Newcastle (5f, 66/1) 27 days ago, never nearer. Cheekpieces added with tongue tie discarded. Modest form but shaped with plenty of encouragement at Newcastle on debut; new accessories. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mary Murray |
(7) 200/1(-300%) | (7) Mary Murray 200/1, Showed good speed before ultimately finishing well beaten when last of 9 in maiden (80/1) at this C&D on debut 22 days ago. Looks to be up against it. 80-1 when dropping right away from halfway here three weeks ago. |
SUDDEN FLIGHT displayed plenty of early speed when third on debut at Wolverhampton over 6f and the manner of that performance suggested the drop to 5f would help to make the difference required on this occasion. Queenofdestruction sports a hood for the first time and the daughter of Dandy Man commands plenty of respect, while others for the shortlist include Hammer The Hammer and Coeur Jaune.
Having shown plenty on debut, COEUR JAUNE had excuses when fifth at Ripon next time, possibly finding the race coming too soon/unsuited by the track, so she is taken to get back on track on her reappearance. She can see off the challenge of Queenofdestruction, who has yet to finish out of the frame, with Sudden Flight also considered.
A trappy maiden in which SUDDEN FLIGHT can build on his recent Wolverhampton third. Hammer The Hammer is interesting after a break.

![]() True Destiny |
(8) 7/2(+46%) | (8) True Destiny 7/2, 9/2, good second of 16 in handicap hurdle at Sligo (20.3f, soft) 119 days ago. Leading claims. Second in races at Limerick and Sligo last October, good chance if reproducing that form. |

![]() Coffeys Forge |
(5) 4/1(+0%) | (5) Coffeys Forge 4/1, Creditable second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Navan (21.8f, heavy, 11/4) 12 days ago. Looks vulnerable. A long way clear of the remainder when 14l second at Navan 12 days ago, leading contender. |

![]() Blue Reed |
(3) 5/1(+9%) | (3) Blue Reed 5/1, 11/1, good second of 15 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) 36 days ago, going well clear before finishing tired. Tongue strap back on. Edging closer to a breakthrough win, second to an improving sort at Fairyhouse last time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Our Uncle Jack |
(1) 8/1(+27%) | (1) Our Uncle Jack 8/1, 17/2 and tongue strap on for 1st time, career best when winning 9-runner novice hurdle at Tramore (16f, heavy) when last seen 16 months ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Could have more to offer. Emphatic winner of a 2m maiden at Tramore in October 2023, absent since, may need this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hanoi Jane |
(6) 8/1(+0%) | (6) Hanoi Jane 8/1, Course winner. Off 19 months, 150/1, fell in novice chase at Naas (20.1f, heavy) on debut over fences 47 days ago. Switches from to hurdles and wouldn't completely dismiss. Course winner over a little shorter last May, fell in a good beginners' chase last month. |

![]() Smackwater Jack |
(9) 12/1(+25%) | (9) Smackwater Jack 12/1, Sixteen runs since sole win in 2019. Off 10 months. Booking of Doyle a plus on return and could go well from very tempting mark (fairly useful at his best in this sphere). Winner for Olly Murphy in 2019, four 2024 runs for current yard not at all encouraging. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Without Exception |
(14) 14/1(-17%) | (14) Without Exception 14/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, possibly amiss when pulled up in handicap chase at Down Royal (20.6f, good to soft, 5/1) 57 days ago, pulled up 5 out. One good run over hurdles last year, flopped when 5-1 for a handicap chase on latest. |

(11) 20/1(-100%) | (11) Duce Bigalow 20/1, 200/1, twelfth of 18 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (19.4f, soft) 80 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Open to improvement. Went close in a point-to-point, unconvincing form in three maiden hurdle outings. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ilbdare |
(7) 20/1(-25%) | (7) Ilbdare 20/1, 10/1, below form eighth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (18f, soft) 146 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Others more persuasive. Good runs at Sligo and Galway earlier in the season, mid-field at Listowel festival. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fix It For Me |
(4) 20/1(+39%) | (4) Fix It For Me 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Back up in trip for handicap hurdle debut. Her mark looks stiff. Lightly-raced mare, appears to have plenty of weight for handicap debut but may improve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Max Time |
(13) 25/1(-39%) | (13) Max Time 25/1, Winner in hurdle at Galway in September. Eleventh of 18 in handicap hurdle at this course (16.4f, heavy, 22/1) 52 days ago. Back up in trip. Won at Galway last September, out of form since a fair fifth at Tramore later that month. |

![]() Raby Mere |
(19) 50/1(-100%) | (19) Raby Mere 50/1, 50/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16f, soft) 29 days ago. Back up in trip. RESERVE. Third reserve, placed in a bumper, beaten 24l in fifth at Gowran in his first handicap. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lummi Island |
(12) 50/1(+0%) | (12) Lummi Island 50/1, Below form eleventh of 19 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16.5f, soft, 40/1) 91 days ago. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Down the field in three handicap outings, transformation needed in cheekpieces. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Free Parking |
(10) 66/1(+0%) | (10) Free Parking 66/1, 80/1, twenty first of 23 in handicap hurdle at Navan (16f, good to soft) 96 days ago. Up in trip. Weak form in 2023, tailed off at Navan three months ago after a year off, up against it. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Masterstonemason |
(16) 66/1(+0%) | (16) Masterstonemason 66/1, Two wins from 46 NH runs. Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. Pulled up in handicap hurdle (50/1) at Bellewstown (17.2f, good) 177 days ago, pulled up early final circuit. Veteran whose most recent win came almost three years ago, very weak form in 2024. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Nicoles Getaway |
(15) 100/1(-100%) | (15) Nicoles Getaway 100/1, 80/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Killarney (22.8f, good to soft) 16 months ago, pulled up 2 out. Struggled in two handicap outings in 2023 and now has a long absence to overcome. |
BLUE REED made a bold bid from the front around Fairyhouse last month. The Cian Collins-trained gelding shot off into a huge lead but then tired late on as the in-form Duffys Hodey pounced on the run-in. The form looks solid with the winner following up since and Blue Reed is capable of winning off this kind of mark. One And Only ran a big race when going down by half a length at Cork in December, having won at the same course previously. He is expected to play a big role after a break. Coffeys Forge has been placed on his last couple of starts and is another to consider.
Plenty of interesting ones lurking, with TRUE DESTINY fancied to make a winning return from a break having run two crackers in similar events in October. One And Only and Duce Bigalow are respected, while Smackwater Jack and Our Uncle Jack are worth a look back from long absences.
Having had ten weeks to recover from good two Cork runs in quick succession in December ONE AND ONLY could be hard to beat

Not in quite the same form when fifth of 9 at Ffos Las 6 weeks ago but a player if bouncing back to the level of the C&D run. 0-7 over hurdles but his clear second of 18 over C&D in December was a good effort. |

(9) 5/1(+0%) | (9) Native Moon 5/1, Pair of creditable efforts in 3m Taunton handicaps since joining Jeremy Scott, although he did make rather heavy weather of things when third in first-time cheekpieces (retained) last time. Ran well in 3m Taunton handicaps on first two stable starts; can play another big role. |

Shaped as if still in form when fourth at Sandown since. Considered. Unlucky not to complete a double last month and again ran well on latest outing; respected. |

![]() Inchagoill Lady |
(16) 17/2(+53%) | (16) Inchagoill Lady 17/2, Reached the frame 3 times this winter, including a 23f course hurdle, but he ran poorly in a Fontwell chase last time. Pulled up in a marathon chase last month and now 0-15 under all codes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Chauffeur Driven |
(14) 17/2(+66%) | (14) Chauffeur Driven 17/2, Beaten 22 lengths when third over C&D on New Year's Day and well held at Chepstow on latest start 12 days ago. A change of headgear (first-time visor for cheekpieces) needs to make a difference. Kept on for modest third over C&D on New Year's Day but two lesser efforts have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Wot You Wearing |
(12) 12/1(+25%) | (12) Wot You Wearing 12/1, Made an encouraging start to present campaign when just touched off in 25.5f Hereford handicap but hasn't backed it up, finishing down the field over C&D last month. A subsequent wind operation needs to help spark a revival. Triple hurdle winner in 2023 but out of form lately; needs wind op to have made difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cooleenymore |
(6) 14/1(-56%) | (6) Cooleenymore 14/1, Course chase winner last April who was also successful over hurdles at Hereford the following month. Encouraging return from 6 months off when fifth of 16 over fences at Stratford in October but ran no sort of race at Chepstow 3 weeks later. Back hurdling after a short break. Chase/hurdle winner last spring but absent since a poor run (over fences) in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Storming Nelson |
(11) 16/1(+0%) | (11) Storming Nelson 16/1, Winner of a 17f course novice last January but has offered little in 5 subsequent handicap starts. 2m novice winner in early 2024 but soundly beaten in all five subsequent handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jubilee Gold |
(10) 18/1(-29%) | (10) Jubilee Gold 18/1, Lightly-raced hurdle winner who placed 3 times in handicaps last spring but was in the process of running below form when unseating 3 out at Ffos Las in May. Off 9 months. Placed three times towards end of last season but has fitness to prove after 282-day break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Oneandahalfdegrees |
(17) 20/1(+20%) | (17) Oneandahalfdegrees 20/1, Well held in maiden/novice hurdles. More realistic chance now handicapping from a basement mark but Nollyador looks the yard first string unless the betting suggests otherwise. Well beaten on all three hurdling starts but may yet deliver on bumper promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Back Yourself |
(13) 28/1(-12%) | (13) Back Yourself 28/1, A fair hurdles winner in 2023 but disappointing in a light career for David Pipe since, falling early back chasing here 16 days ago. Would need to see market support to consider. Pulled up over C&D on seasonal debut and fell early in a recent chase; hard to weigh up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Johannes |
(15) 40/1(-21%) | (15) Johannes 40/1, A fair 2m Flat winner in France and off the mark over hurdles in 19f Taunton novice handicap last February. Pulled up on next 3 starts, though, and beaten 56 lengths when completing at Taunton last month. The mount of Jack Tudor from the David Pipe trio but still can't support with any confidence. Won on handicap debut just under a year ago but form has nosedived since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Giddy Up |
(18) 150/1(-50%) | (18) Giddy Up 150/1, No sign of ability, including pulling up on last month's Wincanton handicap debut for Kevin Bishop. Pulled up when 100-1 for recent stable/handicap debut and effectively 5lb higher here. |
NATIVE MOON has done well since joining the Jeremy Scott stable, performing with credit at Taunton the last twice over 3m. Dropping in trip may work the oracle as he looks to get off the mark, with Fontwell scorer Shuil Ceoil looking best placed to chase him home off 6lb higher. Fierce Warrior has claims on his penultimate effort at Doncaster, while Speiriuil is a capable sort on her day.
SPEIRIUIL shaped as if still in good form when fourth at Sandown last month and might prove the answer to this open handicap now back in a lower grade. Shuil Ceoil, a last-time-out winner, and December's C&D runner-up Diamatiste are possible dangers, while Kingston Glen is an unexposed sort who could take a step forward now handicapping.
This might go to NOLLYADOR, who is very lightly raced for his age and returned from a long absence with a pleasing run in December.

![]() Sugar Road |
(7) 5/4(+58%) | (7) Sugar Road 5/4, Stepped forward from debut when third at this course (11.1f) in July. Wasn't in quite the same form when fourth of 8 in novice at Hamilton (11.1f, heavy, 5/1) the following month, but he's respected on return (has been gelded). Three starts last summer, notably finishing useful third in 1m3f novice here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Java Raja |
(1) 11/8(-158%) | (1) Java Raja 11/8, Bred to be useful and, upped in trip/fitted with tongue strap, much improved from debut when winning 12-runner maiden at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 4/1) 67 days ago, easily. Can continue his progress to follow up. Improved to win ordinary 1m4f AW maiden at Wolverhampton in December; has a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Foxlight |
(3) 5/1(+0%) | (3) Foxlight 5/1, Sea The Stars gelding who made a winning start in 7-runner bumper at Lingfield (16f, slow, 18/1) 74 days ago, leading approaching final 1f and quickening clear. Merits consideration making debut in this sphere. Won 2m AW bumper at Lingfield on debut; could have more to give now switching to the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Agathon |
(2) 12/1(+64%) | (2) Agathon 12/1, After 15 months off from debut, unable to sustain effort when twelfth of 20 in maiden at the Curragh (12f, soft, 14/1) in October 2023. Absent again since (gelded) ahead of first run since leaving Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Two starts for Joseph O'Brien in Ireland separated by more than a year; off 498 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miss Applejack |
(8) 40/1(-60%) | (8) Miss Applejack 40/1, Winner at 20f over hurdles in December. Modest form when second of 4 in novice at Wolverhampton (9.5f) on Flat debut and matched that level when sixth of 12 in similar event there (8.6f) 10 days ago. More needed upped in trip. Moderate in two AW Flat starts over a bit shorter at Wolverhampton; this trip may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Courageous Gold |
(5) 66/1(-65%) | (5) Courageous Gold 66/1, Very green first time up but went backwards from that effort when tenth of 13 in maiden (66/1) at Kempton (11f) 32 days ago. Has work to do. Moderate in two starts, hanging left both times. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jysuis |
(4) 125/1(-150%) | (4) Jysuis 125/1, Placed all 3 bumpers in France. However, yet to finish better than mid-field over hurdles for current yard, well-beaten ninth of 12 in handicap at Bangor (16.7f, good, 33/1) when last seen in September. Placed in bumpers in France 2023; more recently a moderate maiden over hurdles in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Paradise Circus |
(6) 300/1(-200%) | (6) Paradise Circus 300/1, Always behind in bumper on debut and has fared no better switched to this sphere, eleventh of 12 in novice at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 250/1) 10 days ago. Step up in trip not enough to tempt. No sign of ability yet; best to look elsewhere. |
SUGAR ROAD didn't appear to be in love with the heavy ground when fourth to a subsequent Listed winner at Hamilton in August. The runner-up also advertised the form by landing a valuable handicap next time and the son of Masar, who was gelded after that performance, is taken to come out on top. Java Raja benefited plenty from his first run when scoring at Wolverhampton in December and has to enter the reckoning, while Lingfield bumper winner Foxlight appears best of the remainder.
JAVA RAJA left behind his debut effort when scoring in convincing fashion at Wolverhampton in December, so he looks to hold leading claims with further improvement to come. Sugar Road wasn't able to build on his previous promise faced with softer ground on his final outing last year, but he could fare better on return, with Foxlight completing the shortlist.
An interesting race in which JAVA RAJA is taken to follow up his Wolverhampton win, marginally preferred to Sugar Road.

(7) 20/1(+0%) | (7) King In Love 20/1, 12/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap hurdle at Downpatrick (17.8f, good to soft) 154 days ago. Hooded for 1st time. First two handicap hurdle attempts offer little encouragement, hooded for first time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Esticky End |
(11) 20/1(+60%) | (11) Esticky End 20/1, Unreliable type. Refused to race in handicap at Dundalk (12f, 7/1) 9 days ago. Poor on last hurdle outing. Refused to race on a recent visit to Dundalk, in good form at that venue late last year. |

![]() Quinn The Eskimo |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Princess Fiadh |
(14) 25/1(+50%) | (14) Princess Fiadh 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Tongue strap on for 1st time, fell in novice hurdle (200/1) at Limerick (16f, soft) 94 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Maiden form does not amount to much, faller at Limerick in November, makes no appeal. |

![]() Tom Kelly |
(5) 33/1(+34%) | (5) Tom Kelly 33/1, 33/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Down Royal (20.6f, good to soft) on debut over fences 57 days ago, beaten when mistake 3 out. Switches from chase to hurdles. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() High Honour |
(1) 66/1(+0%) | (1) High Honour 66/1, Winner in hurdle at Sligo in August. 80/1, twelfth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, good to soft) 69 days ago. Sligo win last August came out of the blue, no comparable form since, stiff task. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fanoir |
(13) 66/1(+0%) | (13) Fanoir 66/1, Twelfth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft, 80/1) 51 days ago. Has run poorly in two starts since returning from a lengthy absence, getting on in years. |
COWPER HALL catches the eye here on his first start for Gavin Cromwell. The Affinisea gelding showed improvement when third on his handicap debut at Down Royal over Christmas and off the same mark of 88, there looks plenty to work with. Mighty Soldier was a staying-on third behind Bridie's Beau here last time and the winner has franked that form since, so he looks an obvious danger. Seskin Flash ran with credit when fourth at Cork back in December and is another to note on his first outing for Philip Dempsey.
MIGHTY SOLDIER ran a cracking race behind a thriving winner here last month, faring best of those held up, and is fancied to come out on top this time. Cowper Hall is very interesting having joined Gavin Cromwell following a good display at Down Royal when well backed. Kir Royal Blou is another to consider.
Conor Stone-Walsh rode COWPER HALL at Down Royal in his first handicap and the five-year-old may improve over this longer trip

![]() Never Shout Never |
(7) 2/1(+11%) | (7) Never Shout Never 2/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in December. Good ½-length second of 6 to Jered Maddox in handicap at this C&D (5/4) 14 days ago. Hasn't had much racing on this surface and will remain competitive. Second here a fortnight ago to Jered Maddox; bit more on at these weights but respected. |

![]() Ohmyviette |
(8) 3/1(+70%) | (8) Ohmyviette 3/1, Lightly-raced winner. 11/4, career best when winning 5-runner minor event at this course (6f) 7 days ago, just holding on. Makes handicap debut. Last week's winner faces much stiffer task against elders but is progressive. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sporting Hero |
(5) 11/2(-57%) | (5) Sporting Hero 11/2, Career best when winning 11-runner handicap at this C&D (7/2) 7 days ago, driven clear. Can make presence felt. Won well over C&D in lesser event a week ago; 7lb higher and upped in grade. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jered Maddox |
(3) 6/1(+0%) | (3) Jered Maddox 6/1, 8-time course winner. 6/1, career best when winning 6-runner handicap at this C&D 14 days ago by ½ length from Never Shout Never. Can give another good account. Late arriver to beat three of these a fortnight ago over C&D; 7lb higher. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dontspoilasale |
(2) 7/1(-17%) | (2) Dontspoilasale 7/1, Course winner. Latest win here in November. 3 lengths fourth of 6 to Jered Maddox in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 14 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Bit to find with Jered Maddox on recent run but return to 6f should suit. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Big Gossey |
(1) 10/1(+0%) | (1) Big Gossey 10/1, C&D winner. Latest win at the Curragh in November. Third of 4 in minor event (9/2) at this course (6f) 14 days ago. Better turf performer; better for recent run here but tough ask conceding so much weight. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Laugh A Minute |
(4) 18/1(-50%) | (4) Laugh A Minute 18/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2024. 8/1, good third of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (5f, good to soft). Off 110 days. Wins all on turf; perhaps best watched on return from winter break. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Genesis |
(6) 40/1(-60%) | (6) Genesis 40/1, Course winner. 40/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, last of 4 in minor event at this course (6f) 14 days ago. Without success since maiden win here; opposable. |
There isn't much between a few of these on recent form. NEVER SHOUT NEVER may be able to turn the tables on Jered Maddox after going down by half-a-length to that rival here a fortnight ago. He is 4lb better on ratings but doesn't have a claimer on board this time. Jered Maddox finished off well then and is likely to be a big player again, despite a 7lb rise. Sporting Hero was third behind the pair then and has won well since. He has another 10lb claimer on board now and is also entitled to be bang there.
Course specialist JERED MADDOX came from last when beating Never Shout Never, Sporting Hero (subsequent winner) and Dontspoilasale to record a eighth course win here 2 weeks ago and David Marnane's charge can come out on top again.
Last week's C&D winner SPORTING HERO can get the better of a tight contest now upped in grade

![]() Uptown Dandy |
(11) 2/1(+20%) | (11) Uptown Dandy 2/1, Made a promising start to his career when second in a C&D bumper (heavy) last month. Should go well again. Clear second to a subsequent Listed runner-up on debut over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Blue Room |
(10) 9/4(+32%) | (10) The Blue Room 9/4, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and shaped encouragingly when filling the same position in a soft-ground Aintree bumper on his Rules debut over Christmas. Big player. Split two previous winners when second at Aintree on rules debut in December; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() It's Top |
(1) 13/2(-8%) | (1) It's Top 13/2, Won a point bumper last April and followed up in a Chepstow bumper on Rules debut, holding on gamely. Didn't see his race out anywhere near as well when seventh of 14 in Ascot listed race 6 weeks later but should play a prominent role back in calmer waters. Well held in Listed race last time but form of earlier Chepstow win puts him in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Claim The Throne |
(4) 25/1(+62%) | (4) Claim The Throne 25/1, Runner-up on last of 3 starts in Irish points but only modest form in a couple of bumpers before Christmas. Harry Cobden up but Walk Tall still likely the stable first string unless the betting hints otherwise. Second rules run was probably better than his debut but he needs to improve again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pop's Folly |
(8) 50/1(0%) | (8) Pop's Folly 50/1, 25/1, green when eighth of 13 on Chepstow debut in November. Needs to have improved in the 3 months since. Made some late headway but never looked dangerous when eighth at Chepstow in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Aceofadiamond |
(2) 125/1(+17%) | (2) Aceofadiamond 125/1, 20/1, well-held seventh of 12 in bumper at Bangor (soft) on debut last April. Can only watch. Unable to land a significant blow on debut at Bangor last April; not seen again since. |
A promising second on debut here last month when only worn down late in the piece, UPTOWN DANDY is likely to improve for that effort and his form sets the standard. The Blue Room went close himself on his Rules debut at Aintree and he is another open to progress, as well as It's Top, who drops in grade having finished down the field in a Listed race at Ascot in December.
Olly Murphy's THE BLUE ROOM is narrowly preferred to last month's C&D runner-up Uptown Dandy. It's Top weakened out of it in an Ascot listed last time but should get involved if back to the level of his Chepstow win. Point recruit Walk Tall would also need considering if the betting speaks in his favour.
The Blue Room is respected but UPTOWN DANDY bumped into a useful rival here last month and is given the verdict today.

![]() Roland Garros |
(6) 4/1(-14%) | (6) Roland Garros 4/1, 200,000 gns Nathaniel colt who produced a promising first effort when 4 lengths fourth of 13 in 9.5f Wolverhampton maiden last April but not seen again until only seventh at Newcastle 8 months later. (3) 150/1(-50%) | (3) Opera King 150/1, Modest hurdler for Nigel Twiston-Davies and no promise in 2 Flat outings since switching to Scott Dixon. Tailed off in two AW Flat starts over shorter than this since joining current stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ruby Kendyl |
(8) 150/1(-127%) | (8) Ruby Kendyl 150/1, 300/1, twelfth of 13 in maiden at Kempton (11f) on debut 32 days ago. 300-1 when well beaten in similar race at Kempton on debut. |
LIAM SWAGGER may well be using this ahead of a potential tilt at Cheltenham and James Owen's gelding appears to have been found the ideal opportunity to gain his first victory on the level. Another Lifetime ran with plenty of credit when third here in December, having stumbled leaving the stalls, and is open to further improvement. Roland Garros is worth another chance to showcase his true ability following a below par effort at Newcastle.
Dual juvenile hurdle winner LIAM SWAGGER also ran to a pretty good level on the Flat last year and should prove very hard to beat. Roland Garros is preferred to Another Lifetime for the forecast spot.
This looks a good opportunity for LIAM SWAGGER, who showed useful ability on the Flat before finding success over hurdles.

![]() Tradonthebay |
(8) 14/1(+13%) | (8) Tradonthebay 14/1, Third of 6 in bumper at Gowran (16f, heavy, 33/1) 29 days ago. Vulnerable. Not a bad run when third as outsider of six on his debut at Gowran, experience should help. |
Gordon Elliott has two in this representing leading owners and the betting market may prove the best guide. Harry Swan takes the mount on SANTO SOSPIR and he could prove the pick in a race where only one has previous form. The Motivator gelding is a half-brother to a decent sort in Tyre Kicker and a mare who was Listed-placed in France. Jeu St Eloi gelding Lord Tobin runs in the Gigginstown colours. He cost 85,000 euros as a three-year-old and is a half-brother to hurdle winner Halligator. Patrick Mullins is a noteworthy booking for the Tom Cooper-trained Oneinthewell. The Mastercraftsman gelding is out of a half-sister to Altior.
This will go to one of the newcomers, with ONEINTHEWELL preferred over the Elliott pair Lord Tobin and Santo Sospir before market clues.
Patrick Mullins may take this on ONEINTHEWELL, whose dam had only minor placed form but is interesting as a close relation to Altior

![]() Quatrain |
(13) 2/1(+33%) | (13) Quatrain 2/1, Fair filly. Remains a maiden after 9 Flat runs. Creditable second of 6 in maiden at this course (8f, 7/4) 21 days ago, outbattled. Just denied in a 1m maiden last time, trying to make all; the drop to this trip can suit. |

![]() Mono River |
(5) 7/2(-27%) | (5) Mono River 7/2, Fairly useful gelding. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, excellent second of 8 in handicap (5/1) at Doncaster (7f, good), no match for winner. Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving William Haggas (sold 39,000 gns). Form pick. Solid UK form; lacks a recent run but go close if ready and the market can be informative. |

(3) 14/1(-155%) | (3) Dontgowithjoe 14/1, Twice-raced gelding. 18/1, fifth of 8 in maiden at this course (8f) 9 days ago. Only beaten 1.5l over 1m last time, headed in the final furlong; drop in trip should suit. |

![]() Clifton Light |
(10) 200/1(-100%) | (10) Clifton Light 200/1, Twice-raced filly. Fifth of 6 in maiden (22/1) at this course (8f) 21 days ago. Well beaten in two maidens at this venue and best wait for handicaps. |

(9) 200/1(+0%) | (9) Certified Freak 200/1, Twice-raced filly. 200/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 6 in maiden at Bellewstown (5f, soft). Off 142 days. Significantly up in trip. Was beaten a long way in two sprint maidens on turf and can't be fancied. |
RED HUGH O'DONNELL may improve a bit from his run here last month. The Dark Angel gelding didn't help himself by missing the kick on his first start for Gillian Scott and then flattened out in the closing stages after travelling well to the turn. On previous form, he's well up to landing a race of this standard. Mono River is interesting on his first outing for Denis Hogan. The Zarak gelding was runner-up three times for William Haggas in England, most recently off a mark of 75 in handicap company at Doncaster last May. Quatrain lost out by just a nose in a fillies contest here last time and is another that has to be respected.
MONO RIVER is the clear pick on form having been beaten only by subsequent Britannia Stakes winner Mickley on his handicap bow at Doncaster on his final start for William Haggas in May. Winsome and Maharajjah are feared most.
There are ifs and buts about all of these but QUATRAIN (nap) was just denied over 1m here last time and can score dropped to this trip.

(6) 10/1(+9%) | (6) Noble Phoenix 10/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 12 in novice (18/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f). Off 137 days. ![]() Fernando |
(7) 20/1(-11%) | (7) Fernando 20/1, Winner at Yarmouth in October. 7/2, last of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 41 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Ed Walker. Others more persuasive. Ex-Ed Walker; won turf nursery and nose second in C&D nursery last year; ran poorly latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rokuni |
(5) 22/1(+33%) | (5) Rokuni 22/1, Winner at Brighton in August. Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap (5/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 24 days ago. Step up in trip is a concern. Unplaced in two 7f AW handicaps elsewhere this winter; needs to improve for the extra trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Orchestral Wave |
(9) 25/1(-108%) | (9) Orchestral Wave 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Third of 8 in novice (7/1) at Chelmsford City (10f) 71 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Charlie Fellowes. Makes handicap debut. Drop back in trip is a concern. Ex-Charlie Fellowes; placed in maiden/novice company over a bit further elsewhere. |
WHIZZ BY successfully completed the hat-trick at this track on her most recent start and a 4lb rise for that victory may not be enough to prevent her from going in again. Panama Black is another to watch out for as he has been knocking hard on the door of late and is 1lb well-in at the weights. Sorbus also makes plenty of appeal.
PANAMA BLACK went very close off this mark at Wolverhampton 11 days ago so tops the shortlist with the drop back in trip a positive if anything. Whizz By unearthed further improvement when seeing off a subsequent winner when completing a course/handicap hat-trick here 7 weeks ago and is an obvious threat, with Zarathos also considered.
A competitive handicap in which the lightly raced SORBUS is taken to follow up her recent maiden win, just preferred to Whizz By.

![]() Brains |
(7) 11/1(+45%) | (7) Brains 11/1, Course winner. 80/1, respectable seventh of 14 in handicap at this course (8f) 21 days ago. Has 11 AW wins to his name but has been regressive since winning on turf last summer. |

Needs a couple of these to falter. Loads of good runs but no win since Nov' 2023; well beaten recently and needs more. |

(10) 12/1(-50%) | (10) Jazzy Dancer 12/1, Course winner. Respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at this course (6f, 9/2) 9 days ago, running on. Cheekpieces back on. Three sprint wins but has run well in defeat over this trip; not ruled out. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hemight |
(11) 20/1(+0%) | (11) Hemight 20/1, 40/1 and visored for 1st time, twenty sixth of 27 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to soft). Off 127 days. First run for yard after leaving Connor King. Placed in turf and AW maidens up to this trip; regressive since last summer; best watched. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() An Laochmor |
(14) 66/1(-100%) | (14) An Laochmor 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Twelfth of 15 in maiden (150/1) at Cork (6f, good to firm), slowly away. Off 7 months. Makes handicap debut. Well beaten in three sprint maidens last summer; worth a market check on return/h'cap bow. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Nika Pika |
(6) 66/1(-65%) | (6) Nika Pika 66/1, One win from 21 Flat runs. Fifteen runs since last win in 2023. 40/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at this course (8f) 21 days ago. Just 1-21 and well beaten last twice so others preferred today. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sarmiento Power |
(13) 100/1(+0%) | (13) Sarmiento Power 100/1, Thirteenth of 14 in handicap at this course (10.7f, 125/1) 7 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Twice placed in UK up to 1m3f; well below that level for this yard and has to rebound. |
CLONMACASH has been holding his form well and may be able to strike again. The Charming Thought gelding was staying on when second to stablemate I'm Spartacus over 6f here nine days ago and should benefit from going back up slightly in trip. He had won previously over 7f here. Little Keilee won over a mile here a fortnight ago and is equally effective over this trip. She is entitled to be a big player again off a 5lb higher mark. Free Solo has been knocking on the door and could be place material.
CLONMACASH has been in a good vein of form here recently and can strike for Ado McGuinness. The booking of Colin Keane suggests that Thompson Gunner might be primed to go well back from 4 months off and he's second choice ahead of Senado Square and last-time-out course scorer Little Keilee.
If CLONMACASH can maintain the fine form that he has been in lately then he looks the one to beat here.

(1) 3/1(-9%) | (1) Rohaan 3/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 22 days ago, left poorly placed. Needs things to drop right but he's handicapped to strike and well worth considering here. Kept on well for 4th in a stronger C&D handicap three weeks ago; each-way shout at least. |

![]() Chief Mankato |
(6) 4/1(+67%) | (6) Chief Mankato 4/1, Yet to get his head in front in handicaps but went close at Chelmsford/over C&D late last year. Finishing effort didn't match the way he travelled when sixth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6f) in November but he's clearly on a workable mark on return from a break. Conditions fine and on a fair mark; not well drawn latest; can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Many A Star |
(2) 4/1(-14%) | (2) Many A Star 4/1, Thriving sort who made it 3 wins from last 4 starts when taking 7-runner C&D handicap 2 weeks ago, leading last ½f and doing it cosily. Of interest again up 3 lb in present groove. Won three of his last four, the last two over C&D for W Carver; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Flying Fletcher |
(5) 6/1(-9%) | (5) Flying Fletcher 6/1, Latest win at Newcastle (6f) in November. 5/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap back at that track/trip 29 days ago, left poorly placed. Looks competitive on form. Unexposed as a sprinter; ran well in adverse conditions last time; still capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cairn Gorm |
(4) 7/1(-27%) | (4) Cairn Gorm 7/1, Made light of a 15-month absence when scoring on stable debut at Wolverhampton (6f) in December. Backed that up when second of 6 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 2/1) 19 days ago and he's another in the mix from unchanged mark. Two solid efforts for new yard after a long absence; still feasibly weighted on old form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ormolulu |
(8) 9/1(+36%) | (8) Ormolulu 9/1, 4-time C&D winner. Latest win here in January. 11/2, seventh of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 6 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Others arrive with more pressing claims at present. Three C&D wins this winter; not at her best at Newcastle last week but return here a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fools Rush In |
(9) 16/1(-60%) | (9) Fools Rush In 16/1, Course winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. 5/2, run best excused when fifth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 10 days ago, doing too much too soon mid-race. Can give a good account returned to sprinting. Three wins since joining this yard; has a rare 6f run today but still feasibly weighted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Twilight Romance |
(3) 18/1(-157%) | (3) Twilight Romance 18/1, Lightly-raced 4-y-o who ended last season with a good fifth of 11 in handicap (10/1) at Ayr (6f, good to firm) in July. Had wind op/fitted with a hood for return and not discounted given he's unexposed on artificial surfaces. Appeals as a sprinter to follow this year; hooded back from a break; check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Intervention |
(7) 28/1(-100%) | (7) Intervention 28/1, C&D winner. Twenty four runs since last win in 2023. Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 20/1) in November. Assessor has afforded him a chance back from 3 months off. Yard also saddle Cairn Gorm. 0-24 last year but regularly ran well; lowly mark for return; yard also runs Cairn Gorm. |
Despite pulling hard, MANY A STAR still managed to score over track and trip last time, which made it three wins out of his last four starts. The eight-year-old remains in the same class and still has room for manoeuvre off his current rating, so he looks the one to beat. Cairn Gorm produced a good effort when second at Lingfield at the start of the month and should remain competitive off an unchanged mark, while Rohaan isn't out of it either.
ROHAAN was noted finishing to good effect when fourth in a race not run to suit over C&D 22 days ago and, operating from a very handy mark, he's selected to come out on top in the hope he gets a good gallop to aim at. Flying Fletcher and Many A Star, who is enjoying a fine winter, are others on the shortlist.
Cairn Gorm is better than he showed last time but so is FLYING FLETCHER (nap), who still appeals as being well treated.

![]() Electric Beauty |
(5) 12/1(-20%) | (5) Electric Beauty 12/1, Promising sort. Third of 12 in maiden at this C&D (12/1) 42 days ago. Should improve. Definite promise on both C&D runs this winter; place claims. |

(7) 200/1(+0%) | (7) Madam Zen 200/1, Twice-raced filly. 200/1, tenth of 13 in maiden at this course (7f) 9 days ago. Not a factor in two recent runs here; will be of more interest in handicaps. |
The 103-rated CALIFORNIA DREAMER should prove hard to beat in this company. The Mehmas filly takes a significant drop in class on her return to action having last been seen running in the Fillies Mile at Newmarket in October. She was highly tried last season, including finishing second in Group 2 company, and the Irish Guineas entry can bag a confidence boosting win. Electric Beauty has run a couple of nice races during the winter but bumps into a different class of animal now. Dermot Weld runs two and the well-bred Bella Isabella may be capable of better now, having beaten just one home on her sole run at Leopardstown last October.
CALIFORNIA DREAMER has been campaigned solely at Group level since her close second on her course debut last spring and should prove hard to beat with her sights lowered on return. Electric Beauty should have more to offer on the back of last month's C&D third and might be the one to follow Adrian Murray's charge home. Bella Isabella has a useful pedigree and it would be no surprise to see her leave last autumn's turf debut behind.
Adrian Murray has his team in fine form and providing she gets the trip CALIFORNIA DREAMER should be another for the yard

![]() Taskheer |
(1) 2/1(+11%) | (1) Taskheer 2/1, Modest gelding. 5/2, won 8-runner minor event at Lingfield (8f, AW) 5 days ago, always holding on. Shortlist material. Has been much better than this level and landed a touch at Lingfield on Sunday; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() You Are Everything |
(12) 5/1(-25%) | (12) You Are Everything 5/1, Modest mare. Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. Creditable second of 11 in minor event (9/2) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 11 days ago. Enters calculations. 17-race maiden but unlucky over 7f last time and she's capable of winning one of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fifty Sent |
(4) 6/1(+50%) | (4) Fifty Sent 6/1, Modest gelding. One win from 28 Flat runs. Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. 12/1, good fourth of 10 in minor event at Newcastle (8f) 7 days ago. Fourth at this level at Newcastle last week; more required to win and just 1-28. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Big Narstie |
(2) 8/1(-23%) | (2) Big Narstie 8/1, Quirky sort. Course winner. Three wins from 17 runs last year. Creditable third of 10 in minor event at Newcastle (8f, 7/2) 7 days ago, conceding first run. Chance. Two-time course winner; placed at this level the last twice; each-way claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Brinton |
(3) 9/1(-6%) | (3) Brinton 9/1, Modest filly. 11/2, creditable 4 lengths third of 8 to Taskheer in minor event at Lingfield (8f, AW) 5 days ago, running on. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Can fluff the start; third behind Taskheer on Sunday; now gets headgear; e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fistral Beach |
(5) 10/1(+17%) | (5) Fistral Beach 10/1, Modest filly. 4/1, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 15 days ago. 0-13 but she's run well in 7f handicaps here on her last three starts; 1m could help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mr Slicker |
(8) 14/1(-17%) | (8) Mr Slicker 14/1, Modest gelding. Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. Creditable third of 9 in handicap (15/2) at this C&D 14 days ago. Merits consideration. Running with credit here this year but more will be needed to come out on top this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Van Zant |
(11) 14/1(+0%) | (11) Van Zant 14/1, Modest gelding. C&D winner. Latest win here in January. 10/1, fifth of 7 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 13 days ago. 7f win here last month but less good twice since; has run well for today's rider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stoic Syd |
(10) 18/1(-29%) | (10) Stoic Syd 18/1, Modest gelding. C&D winner. Last of 9 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 8/1) 15 days ago. Tongue strap back on. C&D winner; perhaps needed this month's return from a six-month break; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Inexplicable |
(6) 25/1(-233%) | (6) Inexplicable 25/1, Modest gelding. C&D winner. 17/2, creditable second of 8 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 13 days ago, doing too much too soon. C&D winner but tends to save his best for Wolverhampton's extended 1m; others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Maguire |
(7) 50/1(+0%) | (7) Maguire 50/1, Modest gelding. Last of 9 in handicap (66/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. Lightly raced 4yo but few positives to be gleaned from his six runs since October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rohilla |
(9) 150/1(-200%) | (9) Rohilla 150/1, Eighth of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 66/1) 25 days ago, very slowly away. Big prices and little impact in six AW starts since making her debut in November. |
You Are Everything did well to only be denied by a nose into second in this class over 7f at Wolverhampton last time considering she suffered a troubled passage turning for home. However, it may pay to side with INEXPLICABLE, who accounted for Brinton (third) when beaten by the smallest of margins into second over an extended mile at Wolverhampton earlier this month. With a repeat of that display, he will prove hard to beat.
TASKHEER landed a gamble in a similar event at Lingfield on Sunday and he can follow up with a good-value claimer counteracting his penalty. You Are Everything is a long-standing maiden but she only just failed in a similar race at Wolverhampton last time so rates the main threat ahead of Big Narstie and Mr Slicker.
Brinton may get closer to TASKHEER today but the selection is still fancied to follow up Sunday's easy Lingfield win.

![]() Cheers Again |
(7) 9/4(+36%) | (7) Cheers Again 9/4, Three-time C&D winner. 17/2, thirteenth of 15 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, good) when last seen 7 months ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Unbeaten in three over C&D but absent since June and may need this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hightimeyouwon |
(2) 9/2(+18%) | (2) Hightimeyouwon 9/2, Evens, didn't need to be at best when winning 13-runner claimer at this C&D 7 days ago, kept up to work. That was his fourth success over C&D and he has to enter calculations. Hat-trick seeker although stiffer task than claiming win last week. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() I Am Superman |
(1) 5/1(+9%) | (1) I Am Superman 5/1, C&D winner. Bit below form seventh of 14 in handicap at Naas (7f, good to soft, 15/2). Off 132 days. Very much of interested back on this surface and reunited with Colin Keane (winner of 2 of his 5 starts when partnered by Keane). C&D winner off 95 over a year ago on return from a break for today's rider so respected. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Proleek Prince |
(9) 6/1(+8%) | (9) Proleek Prince 6/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. 5/2, creditable ½-length second of 9 to Perfect Judgement in minor event at this C&D 63 days ago. Solid chance. Had a break since C&D second to Perfect Judgement in December; front-runner has ideal draw. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Perfect Judgement |
(4) 15/2(-7%) | (4) Perfect Judgement 15/2, Career best when winning 9-runner handicap (3/1) at this C&D 14 days ago, comfortably (that was his third C&D success). However, this 8 lb higher mark demands improvement. In the form of his life, seeking a four-timer; not missed by the handicapper. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bucaneer's Spirit |
(8) 11/1(-10%) | (8) Bucaneer's Spirit 11/1, Latest win at Navan in September. Respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (9/2). Blinkers on 1st time and he could have a part to play, provided that he is ready to roll following a 133-day break. Good C&D effort when last seen in October; blinkers now fitted for return. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Catch The Paddy |
(6) 11/1(+39%) | (6) Catch The Paddy 11/1, C&D winner. 9/2, creditable 3½ lengths third of 9 to Perfect Judgement in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Enjoys a handy pull at the weights with that rival, so he may well finish closer this time. C&D winner in December but front-runner held on form since. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Final Voyage |
(3) 11/1(-38%) | (3) Final Voyage 11/1, C&D winner. Respectable 2¾ lengths fourth of 8 to Exquisite Acclaim in minor event at this course (7f, 8/1) 35 days ago. Not taken lightly. Last year's winner; left with bit to do of late here but respected on overall profile. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Exquisite Acclaim |
(5) 20/1(-67%) | (5) Exquisite Acclaim 20/1, Five-time course winner, the latest gained last month. 4/1, 3½ lengths fourth of 7 to Hightimeyouwon in handicap at this course (7f) 23 days ago. Place possibilities. Dual C&D winner in good form of late at 7f; can't rule out. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Migdam |
(10) 33/1(-50%) | (10) Migdam 33/1, C&D winner. 22/1, respectable 4¼ lengths fourth of 9 to Perfect Judgement in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Not without each-way hope. C&D winner showed a bit more a fortnight ago behind Perfect Judgement. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Glen Princess |
(11) 100/1(-150%) | (11) Glen Princess 100/1, Latest win at Gowran in September. 6 lengths sixth of 9 to Perfect Judgement in handicap at this C&D (33/1) 14 days ago, slowly away. Something to find on form. Recent C&D runs leave her with a fair bit to find. |
PROLEEK PRINCE may prove the pick in a competitive event. He was last seen losing out by half-a-length to Perfect Judgement here just before Christmas and that rival has gone on to win twice again since. Proleek Prince only went up a pound for that effort whereas Perfect Judgement is now racing off an 18lb higher mark after his hat-trick of wins. Trainer Stephen Thorne also has another in-form contender in Hightimeyouwon. The Garswood gelding followed up on a handicap win late last month by taking a claimer here a week ago. He remains on the same mark after his latest success.
Though AM SUPERMAN's overall profile suggests that consistency isn't his forte, he has brought his 'A' game on both previous visits to this track and is appealing back here with Colin Keane in the hot-seat. There are dangers aplenty, headed by Proleek Prince, who was narrowly outpointed by Perfect Judgement in the run-up to Christmas and he is now weighted to reverse those placings. Final Voyage was behind a couple of these last time but the return to this trip will help and he is third choice.
Very competitive but a bit of value could be had in PROLEEK PRINCE, who could make the best of a good draw

![]() Portoro |
(2) 2/1(+11%) | (2) Portoro 2/1, Typically travelled well when landing 9-runner handicap at this C&D (10/3) 15 days ago. Should give another good account. Has been holding form well for a while, most recently successful in C&D handicap; up 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Clyde Bay |
(7) 4/1(+33%) | (7) Clyde Bay 4/1, Keen sort returned to form (well-backed) on first run for yard after leaving Eve Johnson Houghton, third of 10 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago, again racing freely. Tongue strap back on and remains to be seen if he can build on most recent effort. Favourite when C&D third on last week's stable debut; took keen hold and carried head high. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Yorkstone |
(5) 11/2(+66%) | (5) Yorkstone 11/2, Out of sorts this winter. Best to look elsewhere. Last success was a dead-heat over 1m here in December 2023; needs to bounce back to form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bomb Squad |
(4) 7/1(-75%) | (4) Bomb Squad 7/1, Course winner has been in good form most of the winter, latest win coming here in January. Respectable third of 8 in handicap (13/2) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 13 days ago and should run well again. In fine form including narrow 6f handicap win here in January; has never won over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Autumn Angel |
(6) 10/1(-54%) | (6) Autumn Angel 10/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. Slowly away again when fourth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 13/2) 18 days ago. Each-way claims. Two-time course winner and successful elsewhere twice this winter; probably thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pinjarra |
(3) 10/1(-25%) | (3) Pinjarra 10/1, Not seen to best effect having been hampered 1f out when 5/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 15 days ago. Shouldn't be discounted at this level. Hinted at better to come when denied clear run in C&D handicap latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lion's Dream |
(9) 14/1(-17%) | (9) Lion's Dream 14/1, Turned in his best effort of the season when fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (12/1) 7 days ago. Could run well in first-time visor. On a lengthy losing run; didn't miss out by much when fourth in a C&D handicap last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Melsmay |
(10) 18/1(-29%) | (10) Melsmay 18/1, Only limited promise when fifth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (16/1) 15 days ago and hard to fancy from 1 lb out of the handicap. 0-7; more needed than when unplaced in C&D handicap latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Create |
(8) 25/1(-14%) | (8) Create 25/1, Course winner has been struggling for form, most recent seventh of 10 in handicap at this course (8.1f, 40/1) 15 days ago. Others preferred. Has won here but hasn't been running well enough lately to be of interest now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Global Warning |
(1) 40/1(-233%) | (1) Global Warning 40/1, Has gone off the boil of late. Others preferred. Six 6f-7f AW handicaps wins elsewhere; however, failed to beat a rival on last two starts. |
PORTORO was always holding the runner-up when scoring narrowly over track and trip earlier this month and the suspicion is that a 2lb rise may not be enough to prevent this consistent type from going in again. Clyde Bay wasn't seen to best effect when third over C&D last time and it would be no surprise if he were able to make his presence felt off an unchanged mark, while the bang in-form Bomb Squad cannot be taken lightly either.
Two-time course winner BOMB SQUAD has been running creditably for most of the winter, and this looks a realistic opportunity to get his head in front again. Smooth-travelling Portoro remains of interest having won at this venue earlier in the month, while Lion's Dream is respected in a first-time visor having returned to form last time.
There was enough from PINJARRA here last time to think he can come good now. Portoro is second choice.

![]() Ranko Express |
(3) 7/2(-17%) | (3) Ranko Express 7/2, Career best when winning 13-runner handicap at this C&D (4/1) 21 days ago by 1¾ lengths from Darkened, suited by way race developed. Not taken lightly. Won in some style over C&D last month; 9lb rise but big player. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Signor Ferrari |
(1) 4/1(+0%) | (1) Signor Ferrari 4/1, Career best when winning 14-runner handicap (11/1) at this C&D 7 days ago, always holding on. More needed if he's to complete the hat-trick off this 7 lb higher mark but he's clearly in good heart. Seeks a quick C&D hat-trick; 7lb rise for last week's win much negated by claimer. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rock Basher |
(9) 11/2(+35%) | (9) Rock Basher 11/2, Respectable fourth of 21 in handicap (8/1) at Leopardstown (9f, good). Off 7 months ahead of this yard debut but he could have a say if fully tuned-up. Ex Luke Comer-trained 6yo; absent since July but change of scenery could do him good. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Darkened |
(6) 6/1(+0%) | (6) Darkened 6/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 64 Flat runs. 9/2, good 1¾ lengths second of 13 to Ranko Express in handicap at this C&D 21 days ago. Likely to be on the premises once more. Recent C&D second to Ranko Express; 3lb rise a bit harsh but rider claims 7lb. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Doctor Grace |
(4) 7/1(+30%) | (4) Doctor Grace 7/1, Creditable 4½ lengths fifth of 13 to Ranko Express in handicap at this C&D (16/1) 21 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Switched yards since and she's not discounted. Good bit to find with Ranko Express on most recent start; first run for new yard. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Streetscape |
(10) 12/1(+14%) | (10) Streetscape 12/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. 25/1, creditable fourth of 14 in handicap at this course (12f) 9 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter. Didn't quite stay 1m4f recently; don't rule out back to best trip with blinkers tried. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jazz Forever |
(2) 12/1(-71%) | (2) Jazz Forever 12/1, C&D winner. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 11 in handicap at this course (12f, 8/1) 42 days ago. Looks vulnerable. C&D winner last April but has looked held by the handicapper of late. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Zahee |
(12) 14/1(+13%) | (12) Zahee 14/1, Unreliable sort. Course winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. Creditable fifth of 13 in claimer (40/1) at this C&D 25 days ago, not clear run. Chance on old form. Recent C&D run a bit more encouraging (not clear run) but remains opposable. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Highland King |
(5) 22/1(-22%) | (5) Highland King 22/1, C&D winner. 12/1, bit below form 5 lengths seventh of 14 to Signor Ferrari in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Would have a chance if back to his best. Long losing run but entitled to come on for last week's comeback run behind Signor Ferarri. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tyder |
(11) 25/1(+24%) | (11) Tyder 25/1, Fifth of 14 in juvenile hurdle (28/1) at Killarney (17f, soft) on NH debut. Off 6 months ahead of this polytrack debut and he's opposable judged on the balance of his form on the Flat. Absent since August and yard have a much stronger contender here in Ranko Express. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Latin |
(7) 33/1(-83%) | (7) Latin 33/1, 50/1, fourth of 14 in handicap at this course (12f) 14 days ago, never nearer. Others more persuasive. Maiden is 0-4 on AW, decent enough run last time at 1m4f; others preferred though. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ali's Court |
(15) 40/1(-21%) | (15) Ali's Court 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 125/1, last of 6 in maiden at this C&D 23 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Makes handicap debut. RESERVE. Very lightly raced 4yo fitted with cheekpieces here for handicap debut; 3lb wrong; reserve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sayfa Fad |
(13) 40/1(+0%) | (13) Sayfa Fad 40/1, 10¼ lengths twelfth of 14 to Higher Kingdom in handicap (20/1) at this course (8f). Off 105 days. Significantly up in trip. Others have achieved more. Has struggled over shorter trips; reduced mark and upped in trip so may improve. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Albion Princess |
(14) 80/1(-100%) | (14) Albion Princess 80/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Ninth of 12 in handicap at this C&D (28/1). Off 93 days. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Promising C&D run in August but didn't build on that; best watched on return from a break. |
DOCTOR GRACE hasn't been far away on her recent runs here and is interesting on her first outing for Ado McGuinness. The Buratino mare was a solid enough fifth here three weeks ago behind Ranko Express and has been eased a couple of pounds since. Ranko Express went up 9lb for that victory, which makes life a bit tougher, but he has to be respected. Signor Ferrari comes here on a hat-trick and is another obvious contender. The form of his two wins looks solid and Nicola Burns' 4lb allowance in this is a big asset.
It could be worth chancing DOCTOR GRACE, who finished fifth in the C&D handicaps won by Signor Ferrari and Ranko Express respectively last month but now meets those rivals on significantly better terms. The 5-y-o may also benefit from stronger handling (ridden by an inexperienced jockey last time) on this debut for her new yard. Ranko Express did the job well when getting the better of Darkened and 11 others in his C&D handicap 3 weeks ago and he is feared, despite going up 9 lb.
Off the mark over C&D last month RANKO EXPRESS may now follow up off a 9lb higher mark and confirm that form with Darkened

Back in trip now and 5 lb rise in the weight makes life tougher. Last two wins gained over 1m here, including latest start; drop in trip is a question mark. |

![]() Billy Mcgarry |
(3) 7/2(+22%) | (3) Billy Mcgarry 7/2, Course winner. Three wins from 11 runs last year. Benefitted from drop in trip when 3/1, good third of 9 in handicap at this C&D 15 days ago. Cheekpieces left off today but should run well again. Has won here; more recently, placed on last three starts, two of them at this venue. |

Very much respected in her bid to follow up that victory. Has placed here; gained first win at the 30th attempt in similar race at Chelmsford latest. |

![]() Devasboy |
(6) 7/1(-27%) | (6) Devasboy 7/1, Thirty runs since last win in 2022 but his handicap mark is tumbling. Couldn't capitalise when sixth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (9/2) 15 days ago but not had many runs for this yard and no surprise to see a better effort. Four starts for this yard; hasn't been progressing; needs to do more than over C&D latest. |

![]() King Of York |
(8) 9/1(+44%) | (8) King Of York 9/1, Has been struggling for form of late and fared no better in blinkers (retained) when seventh of 9 in handicap at this C&D 15 days ago, Others preferred. Has just a 2-45 record and needs to up his recent level, but both wins gained over C&D. |

![]() Romanovich |
(1) 9/1(+0%) | (1) Romanovich 9/1, Reappeared after 5 months off to finish fifth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 13 days ago. ![]() Made All |
(4) 11/1(+56%) | (4) Made All 11/1, Shaped better than the distance beaten suggests in first-time cheekpieces/following wind surgery when seventh of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 11 days ago. (5) 25/1(-108%) | (5) Embarked 25/1, Step in the right direction when fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 15 days ago, having gone too hard but yard have been struggling for winners of late. Nose win in C&D Class 5 handicap in September; behind Billy McGarry latest.. |
Billy McGarry has posted three solid placed efforts of late, most recently over this C&D, and he looks well capable of making his presence felt off what remains a competitive mark. That said, WINDSOR PASS is preferred. The daughter of Lope De Vega did it well when scoring over this trip at Chelmsford last month and, upped just 2lb, another bold bid looks likely. Fellow last-time-out winner Mickey Mongoose rates the pick of the remainder.
WINDSOR PASS won with a bit in hand when breaking her maiden tag last month, and she is taken to follow up that victory from a 2 lb higher mark. Devasboy could be seen to better effect if a good gallop materialises, so he's second choice ahead of Billy McGarry who can hit the frame again.
A course winner who has been running well in defeat lately, BILLY MCGARRY is just preferred to Windsor Pass and Mickey Mongoose.

![]() Carolina Jetstream |
(3) 4/5(+54%) | (3) Carolina Jetstream 4/5, Thrice-raced winner. Won 14-runner maiden at this course (8f, 5/4), suited by increase in trip. Off 91 days and she may well fare better still now moving up to middle-distances. Won over 1m; probably not yard's first-string but should stay this trip and go well. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Iowntheball |
(4) 11/4(+39%) | (4) Iowntheball 11/4, Lightly-raced winner. One win from 3 runs last year. 4/1, very good third of 7 in handicap at this course (8f) 25 days ago, not ideally placed. Big player with this stiffer test likely to be right up his street. Solid run in a 1m handicap at this track last time; shapes as if this trip is within reach. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jaliyah |
(5) 11/2(+8%) | (5) Jaliyah 11/2, Lightly-raced winner. 10 lengths eighth of 11 to Whirl in Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh (8f, soft, 100/1), merely closing up late. Off 122 days and significantly up in trip here. Yard saddles a stronger candidate in Carolina Jetstream. Below form in a Curragh Group 3 on soft in October; lacks a recent run; market can inform. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Just Before |
(2) 15/2(-125%) | (2) Just Before 15/2, Lightly-raced winner. Career best when winning 13-runner maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, soft, 8/1) on her latest start in October. Significantly up in trip for this polytrack debut and she's a key player. Won on turf over 7f; should handle this surface and stay this trip but lacks a recent run. |
Adrian Murray has a strong hand here with three of the five runners. SPICY MARGARITA has recent winning form in the book and that may prove the difference. The Earthlight filly won with a bit in hand here nine days ago and looked like she would appreciate stepping up to this kind of trip. Stablemate Carolina Jetstream won over a mile here in November and doesn't look harshly treated off 83 in what is effectively a truncated handicap. Just Before won a Leopardstown maiden in October and it will be interesting to see how she fares on her return.
The sole colt in the line-up, IOWNTHEBALL, looks the way to go on the back of a solid handicap debut third over a mile here last month, shaping as though he'd relish this step up in trip. Just Before signed off her 2-y-o campaign with a Leopardstown maiden success and she is feared most ahead of fellow last-time-out winner Carolina Jetstream.
The sole colt in the line-up, IOWNTHEBALL was running on at the finish over 1m here on his comeback run last time and can score.

![]() Humble Spark |
(1) 3/1(+14%) | (1) Humble Spark 3/1, Back-to-back winner at Newcastle around the turn of the year and runner-up all 3 starts since, latterly when just failing in 7-runner handicap back at that venue 13 days ago. Nudged up further 2 lb ahead of this but respected again. In fine form lately, including a second over C&D; back down from Class 4; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tortured Soul |
(4) 7/2(-40%) | (4) Tortured Soul 7/2, Course winner who confirmed more positive signs when resuming winning ways at Wolverhampton (12.2f) in December. Narrowly followed up at Lingfield (12f) 28 days ago and shortlisted in hat-trick bid from 2 lb higher mark. Twice a winner here and has won last two starts in 1m4f AW Class 5 handicaps elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Swinging London |
(3) 4/1(+20%) | (3) Swinging London 4/1, Course winner. Latest win here in January. 5/2, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (16.2f) 6 days ago. No reason why he won't give another good account back down in trip. Three wins this winter, two of them coming over 1m6f here; this trip doesn't seem ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kinetic |
(6) 4/1(+11%) | (6) Kinetic 4/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Kempton in February. 4/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 13 days ago, weakening over 1f out having raced freely. Better showing anticipated. Won C&D fillies' handicap in September; another success at Kempton two starts back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Whatacracker |
(8) 9/1(+64%) | (8) Whatacracker 9/1, Tasted success over 11f as a 3-y-o but below best on 2 of his 3 starts during a light 2024 campaign. Others appeal more returning from 8 months off. Fair win on turf in 2023, but absent since poor run last June; hard to know what to expect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Night Horn |
(9) 10/1(-11%) | (9) Night Horn 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden who found some improvement when second of 5 in handicap at Sandown (14f, good) in June. Disappointed at Doncaster later that month and joined new connections for 7,000 gns thereafter. One to monitor in the betting for positive vibes back from 7 months off. Ex-Andrew Balding; pick of his form a front-running second in 1m6f turf handicap last June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() See The Green |
(5) 20/1(-67%) | (5) See The Green 20/1, Lightly-raced winner on Flat. Fair winner at 2m over hurdles. Below form sixth of 10 in juvenile hurdle (17/2) at Warwick (16f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Needs to get back on track returned to this sphere with cheekpieces now reached for. Won 1m4f turf maiden for Owen Burrows last spring; more recently a winner over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Super Superjack |
(2) 28/1(-180%) | (2) Super Superjack 28/1, Fair handicapper who wasn't seen to best effect in a slowly-run race when fourth of 7 in handicap (22/1) at Kempton (2m) in October. Absent since and he'll need a good gallop to aim at if he's to feature down in trip. Bit more needed than at Kempton when last seen in October and he is dropping in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() See Paris |
(7) 28/1(-12%) | (7) See Paris 28/1, Tenth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 50/1) 34 days ago, slowly away and always behind. Has it to prove at present now stepping back up significantly in trip. Won 1m1f turf race in Germany last year; limited promise over shorter than this in Britain. |
HUMBLE SPARK was doing his best work late on when finishing a narrow runner-up over 1m2f at Newcastle earlier this month and, stepping back up in trip, he gets the vote. Tortured Soul arrives in search of a hat-trick having scored gamely at Wolverhampton and Lingfield the last twice and another bold bid would come as no surprise. Swinging London completes the shortlist, though this drop in distance asks a question of him.
Having tasted success on no less than 6 occasions last winter, TORTURED SOUL arrives on the back of victories at Wolverhampton/Lingfield in recent months and he looks a big player again in his hat-trick bid. Kinetic, who is best excused her latest run, Humble Spark and Swinging London head up the dangers in the finale.
The hat-trick seeking TORTURED SOUL just gets the vote over Humble Spark, who has been in similarly good form.

![]() Pavilion End |
(2) 6/4(+50%) | (2) Pavilion End 6/4, Twice-raced winner on the Flat. Successful over this C&D last month. Second of 6 in handicap (9/2) at this course (16f) 14 days ago. Back down in trip and this lightly-raced type needs a second look. C&D maiden win; solid handicap debut over 2m; on the same mark back to this trip; a player. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sir Callisto |
(4) 2/1(+43%) | (4) Sir Callisto 2/1, 11/2, fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 25 days ago. Clearly on a workable mark and it'd be no surprise whatsover were he to make his presence felt. Close fourth over C&D last month; off the same mark today so has to be considered. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Solar Breeze |
(3) 9/2(+50%) | (3) Solar Breeze 9/2, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 11/2, fourth of 7 in handicap at this course (10.7f) 9 days ago, not ideally placed. Leading contender. Ran a solid race after a break over 1m2.5f; should have come on from that and can go well. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Theophilos |
(6) 8/1(+50%) | (6) Theophilos 8/1, 12/1, bit below form third of 6 in handicap at this course (10.7f) 23 days ago, merely closing up late. Others more persuasive. Decent effort over 1m2.5f at this track last time; dropped 1lb but needs more up in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Satono Chevalier |
(1) 17/2(-113%) | (1) Satono Chevalier 17/2, Three-time C&D winner. Career best when winning 9-runner handicap (9/1) 11 months ago. 2 lb nudge no great hardship but this 7-y-o's subsequent absence does sound a cautionary bell. Three C&D wins; has run well after an absence in the past so has to be taken seriously. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Redwood Queen |
(7) 66/1(-230%) | (7) Redwood Queen 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Fairly useful winner at 20f over hurdles. Eleventh of 14 in handicap at Down Royal (12.8f, soft, 28/1), slowly away, when last seen in September. Opposable on this polytrack debut. Some ability in four Flat runs but is yet to run on AW and is back after a lay-off today. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rene Artois |
(8) 100/1(-100%) | (8) Rene Artois 100/1, Tenth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (16.6f, good to soft, 33/1) 120 days ago. Significantly up in trip here and needs to boune back. Twice placed here as a 2yo; disappointing over hurdles when last seen; others preferred. |
AIRD opened her account in good style here last week and may be able to follow up back in handicap company. The Teofilo mare was a good third off a pound higher mark at Down Royal last summer and, with a confidence boosting success under her belt, she's up to scoring off this rating. Pavilion End won his maiden over course and distance before a good runner-up effort over further in handicap company here a fortnight ago. Off the same mark he's a leading contender. Satono Chevalier hasn't been seen since winning over course and distance almost a year ago and the market may prove the best guide to his chances.
PAVILION END opened his account over this C&D last month and subsequently lost little caste in defeat when finding just one too good upped to 2m back here a fortnight ago. He will benefit from this drop back in trip and is taken to see off Solar Breeze and Sir Callisto, who are feared most in that order of preference. Aird needs to raise her game but she's in good hands and shouldn't be too far away.
Off an unchanged mark following a solid second over 2m on handicap debut two weeks ago, PAVILION END could go one better
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
