1st (12) (4/6 +59%) Leader In The Park |
4/6(+59%) | (12) Leader In The Park 4/6, Cost £250,000 after making a winning start to his point career in February and shaped promisingly when second in Ascot novice (21.6f) on hurdles debut in November. Not in same form latest but remains open to improvement and hails from a yard in fine form. £250,000 buy after Irish point win; Ascot 2nd sets the form standard; below form latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (15/2 -7%) Grand Albert |
15/2(-7%) | (8) Grand Albert 15/2, Winning Irish pointer who offered something to work on when second of 5 in bumper at Bangor on Rules debut in December. Ran to just a modest level on Market Rasen hurdles debut since but it's still early days. 3rd of seven in maiden at Market Rasen; place claims; needs to improve again to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (150/1 -127%) Best Life |
150/1(-127%) | (1) Best Life 150/1, First past the post on his second run between the flags last spring but yet to make an impact over hurdles and looks a longer-term prospect. Modest form on both starts over hurdles (soft) and he needs to leave that well behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (150/1 -355%) Mythe Bridge |
150/1(-355%) | (13) Mythe Bridge 150/1, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Brother to fair 21f hurdle winner Bells On Sunday, and closely related to useful hurdler Top Bandit. Out the frame in 3 starts in points and is likely one for the longer term. His three runs in British points don't read nearly so well as his pedigree; gelded since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (10/1 -233%) Entity Of Substanz |
10/1(-233%) | (5) Entity Of Substanz 10/1, Boasts an appealing pedigree and ran with promise when seventh of 16 in novice hurdle at Newbury (16.3f, soft) on debut 29 days ago. Should improve and he looks sure to be suited by the step up in trip. 15-2, never dangerous in slowly run maiden hurdle at Newbury (2m); could be a big improver. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (22/1 -38%) Ginger Jonny |
22/1(-38%) | (7) Ginger Jonny 22/1, Irish point winner but sent off at 25/1 when remote sixth of 16 on Chepstow hurdle debut in October. Will need to leave that form well behind. Made all in Irish point; 37l sixth of 16 in maiden hurdle at Chepstow (2m3f, good to soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (200/1 -300%) Clatterbridge |
200/1(-300%) | (4) Clatterbridge 200/1, Won a small-field Irish point in May 2022. Absent since ahead of this switch to hurdles for new connections. Likely best watched. Ran in 3 Irish maiden points in 2022, winning a four-runner race in May but not seen since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (125/1 -400%) Kentanddover |
125/1(-400%) | (11) Kentanddover 125/1, Shaped encouragingly when fourth in Doncaster bumper in March 2022 but clearly had issues and was having his first start since when well held at Huntingdon on hurdles bow last month. Long absence before soundly beaten at 25-1 in a 2m maiden hurdle at Huntingdon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) (250/1 -150%) The Dark Edge |
250/1(-150%) | (15) The Dark Edge 250/1, Yet to trouble the judge in a couple of starts in bumpers or over hurdles. 11l seventh of 13 to Gentleman's Relish in Newbury bumper; beaten about 50l as hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (16) (150/1 -50%) Cotoneaster |
150/1(-50%) | (16) Cotoneaster 150/1, Modest form in 2 bumpers/hurdles. Looks more one for handicaps. Tongue strap back on. Her second bumper was markedly better than her three other runs, the last two over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (4/1 +43%) Jukebox Fury |
4/1(+43%) | (10) Jukebox Fury 4/1, €80,000 3-y-o, Jukebox Jury gelding. Closely related to a winner, and half-brother to numerous winners, including smart hurdler/top-class chaser Don Poli. Interesting newcomer. 80,000euros 3yo; the dam's winners include high-class Don Poli; newcomer to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/2 -100%) Gentleman's Relish |
11/2(-100%) | (6) Gentleman's Relish 11/2, Much improved when winning 13-runner Newbury bumper in November. Made a disappointing start to his hurdle career when pulled up at Kempton on Boxing Day but the fact he went off favourite suggests he's well regarded by his top yard. Not taken lightly. Made all in bumper at Newbury; flopped on starts either side, on hurdle debut latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (80/1 -220%) Cave Article |
80/1(-220%) | (2) Cave Article 80/1, €26,000 3-y-o, Court Cave gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 25f) Casey Jones. Runner-up completed start in points and is worth a check in the market on Rules debut. Ran in two Irish maiden points last year, runner-up in October on second occasion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (200/1 +0%) Paris Cercy |
200/1(+0%) | (14) Paris Cercy 200/1, Half-brother to pretty useful hurdler Parisencore but failed to win in points and sent off at 150/1 when well beaten in Kelso novice hurdle on last month's Rules debut. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (250/1 +0%) Cave Bleu |
250/1(+0%) | (3) Cave Bleu 250/1, Showed more than previously when third in small-field bumper at Market Rasen in May but offered little in either start in this sphere. Low-level form in three bumpers and two Doncaster novice hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LEADER IN THE PARK failed to fire on his most recent outing at Ascot, but the six-year-old can be given another chance based on his debut effort under Rules when second at the same venue in November. Grand Albert was not disgraced on his first start over hurdles at Market Rasen last month and could prove to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of Gentleman's Relish and Jukebox Fury.
There should be more to come from ENTITY OF SUBSTANZ, particularly now granted a stiffer test of stamina, and he gets the nod in the opener. Gentleman's Relish and Leader In The Park are feared most.
Leader In The Park brings clearly the best form but was below form last time. Watch out also for ENTITY OF SUBSTANZ.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/3 -21%) Faulty |
10/3(-21%) | (7) Faulty 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Running creditably when slipped up in novice hurdle at this course (20.4f, good to soft, 11/8). Off 12 months. Form pick. Entitled to need the run after a year off but could be a contender if fit enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (7/4 -40%) Lightkeeper |
7/4(-40%) | (9) Lightkeeper 7/4, Twice-raced maiden. Second of 13 in novice hurdle at this course (16.7f, soft, 7/2) 16 days ago. One to consider. No match for Tullyhill and Mercurey in maiden hurdles at Naas and here; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) (13/2 +59%) Pax |
13/2(+59%) | (14) Pax 13/2, Twice-raced maiden. Sixth of 16 in novice hurdle (100/1) at Leopardstown (20f, heavy) 55 days ago. Has shown some ability in two starts; needs this for a mark but could sneak into a place. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (11/1 -38%) Military Alliance |
11/1(-38%) | (10) Military Alliance 11/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Second of 12 in maiden (16/1) at Leopardstown (9f, heavy) on debut. Respected. Seems to have had his issues but is a very interesting hurdles newcomer here; market watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (250/1 -150%) Our Chezney |
250/1(-150%) | (13) Our Chezney 250/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Hooded for 1st time, eighth of 13 in novice hurdle (250/1) at this course (16.7f, soft) 16 days ago. Best run was in a first-time hood (retained) last time but much more needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (33/1 -106%) Red Glory |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Red Glory 33/1, Fair Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden over hurdles. Fair winner at 12f on flat. 25/1, sixth of 11 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, heavy) 25 days ago. May well do better. Should come on a good bit for his Fairyhouse run but others still more likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (100/1 -100%) Glenriver |
100/1(-100%) | (8) Glenriver 100/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, fourth of 15 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, heavy) 28 days ago, not knocked about. Most recent effort at Fairyhouse was promising enough; needs this for a mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (16) (300/1 -200%) Storm Ryder |
300/1(-200%) | (16) Storm Ryder 300/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. First run since leaving Warren Greatrex when last of 12 in novice hurdle (250/1) at this course (16.1f, heavy) on hurdles bow 23 days ago. Tailed off in a maiden hurdle here last month; safe to put a line through. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (17) (16/5 +77%) Maroto |
16/5(+77%) | (17) Maroto 16/5, Promising type. 9/1, sixth of 14 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, heavy) on NH debut 28 days ago. Open to improvement. RESERVE. First reserve; should come on hugely for debut; very much a contender if getting a run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (25/1 -79%) Hypersonic Missile |
25/1(-79%) | (3) Hypersonic Missile 25/1, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Fairly useful winner at 17f in bumpers. Tenth of 14 in novice hurdle (100/1) at Navan (15.7f, heavy) 10 days ago. Soundly beaten on both maiden hurdles for this stable although not beaten far at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (200/1 -203%) Ayrton |
200/1(-203%) | (1) Ayrton 200/1, Making GB/IRE jumps debut. 50/1, last of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) 36 days ago. No trace of ability on the Flat for his current trainer; makes no appeal on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (200/1 -203%) Game Nation |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Game Nation 200/1, Fair Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden over hurdles. Eleventh of 22 in novice hurdle at this course (16.7f, soft, 200/1) 38 days ago. Well beaten in both maiden hurdles and qualifies for a mark after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (4) (125/1 -150%) Oakley |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Oakley 125/1, Fair Flat winner. Once-raced maiden over hurdles. Tenth of 14 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, heavy, 125/1) on NH debut 28 days ago. Dundalk AW win in October; will need more experience based on hurdling debut at Fairyhouse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (6) (50/1 -317%) Desert Cave |
50/1(-317%) | (6) Desert Cave 50/1, €15,500 3-y-o, Court Cave gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fair hurdler (winner around 2m) No Sound. Won first of 3 starts in points, runner-up next 2 outings (latest Mar 2023). Best watched on his track debut after almost a year off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (150/1 -355%) Monslatt |
150/1(-355%) | (12) Monslatt 150/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Fourth of 5 in bumper at Leopardstown (16.2f, heavy, 50/1) on bumper debut 55 days ago. Switches from bumpers to hurdles. Has shown little of any merit in a maiden hurdle and a bumper so far; makes little appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LIGHTKEEPER was beaten out of sight into second by Mercurey, who looks a very promising type, and, prior to that, he was denied by seven lengths by Tullyhill, who went on to record a Listed success here on Sunday. Gordon Elliott's gelding doesn't come up against anything like that opposition in this contest and can go one better. Milo Lises' run at Limerick was too bad to be true last time and he could easily bounce back to get involved, while Red Glory may have come forward for his Fairyhouse reappearance.
FAULTY hasn't been seen since slipping up in a similar event here 12 months ago and this represents a good opportunity if retaining his ability. Lightkeeper is next best ahead of Military Alliance.
Dual maiden hurdle runner-up LIGHTKEEPER has a lot less to beat today that Tullyhill or Mercurey and he can take advantage

1st (3) (18/1 -50%) Diamond Dice |
18/1(-50%) | (3) Diamond Dice 18/1, Held every chance when departing at the last in point and some promise in bumpers this term. Showed aptitude for hurdling but didn't quite last out when sixth of 12 in novice at Carlisle (17f, soft) just over 2 weeks ago and should do better with that under his belt. May improve for this sharper scenario on second attempt over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (5/1 +38%) Hamsiyann |
5/1(+38%) | (14) Hamsiyann 5/1, Fairly useful Flat winner but well beaten on both starts over hurdles in December. Likely to have more chance in handicaps after this. Irish raider who may show improvement with tongue-tie applied on this British foray. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (2/1 +20%) Golden Maverick |
2/1(+20%) | (13) Golden Maverick 2/1, Fairly useful 5-time winner on the Flat (stays 14.5f) for Ian Williams. New connections acquired him for 100,000 gns in the autumn and made a promising start over hurdles after 4 months off when runner-up in juvenile at Catterick (15.7f, soft) earlier this month. Can go one better. Fairly useful on Flat; clear second at Catterick on the switch to hurdles; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/3 +39%) Gentleman Jacques |
10/3(+39%) | (4) Gentleman Jacques 10/3, Fair form in bumpers and has made the frame all 3 starts since switched to hurdles, shaping better than the distance beaten suggested when fourth of 15 at this C&D (soft) a couple of months ago. One to consider with Cobden taking over. Consistent sort who made the frame in C&D events the last twice; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (25/1 -213%) Zoeman |
25/1(-213%) | (9) Zoeman 25/1, Great Pretender gelding was strong in the betting and made a promising start to his career when runner-up in juvenile hurdle at Ffos Las (15.8f, good to firm) in October 2022. Presumably had his problems to not have been seen since but is open to progress. Absent since his fairly promising debut 2nd at Ffos Las in October 2022; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (10/3 +0%) Lindy Reilly |
10/3(+0%) | (11) Lindy Reilly 10/3, Kayf Tara mare who was sent off a huge price but produced an encouraging first effort in this sphere from an unpromising position when third of 15 in novice at this C&D (soft) 9 weeks ago, keeping on gradually straight under hands-and-heels riding. Sure to improve. Belied her 50-1 odds with a promising effort in C&D contest just before Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (22/1 -214%) Tout Sur Moi |
22/1(-214%) | (8) Tout Sur Moi 22/1, Showed some promise in a couple of bumpers and did likewise sent hurdling when sixth of 14 in novice (66/1) at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) last month. Handicaps later on likely to be more suitable. Showed some promise at Taunton last month on hurdles debut; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (40/1 -100%) Mount Olympus |
40/1(-100%) | (6) Mount Olympus 40/1, Fairly useful handicapper on the Flat who won 3 times in 2023. Better than the distance beaten suggested when tailed-off eighth at Hereford on hurdling debut in November but checked out fairly tamely. Had a wind op and looks one for the longer term. Fair handicapper on Flat; well held on hurdles debut; had wind surgery since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (250/1 -25%) Mo Zola |
250/1(-25%) | (12) Mo Zola 250/1, Won sole start in point bumpers but pulled up all 3 goes over hurdles. Set for another struggle. Point bumper winner; hard to fancy on rules form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (150/1 -275%) Bella Cavalla |
150/1(-275%) | (10) Bella Cavalla 150/1, Milan mare was sent off a big price and went with little immediate promise when well held in a Fontwell bumper (17.7f, soft) last month. Best watched on hurdles bow. Down the field in Fontwell bumper last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (100/1 -300%) Deep Strato |
100/1(-300%) | (2) Deep Strato 100/1, Successful on his sole outing in points but ran below expectations when fourth of 7 in a Sedgefield bumper in November. Shaped better than the distance beaten suggested when well held on hurdling debut at Newcastle a couple of months ago and he should improve (had a wind op). Point winner; disappointing in both rules starts; had wind surgery since latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (8/1 -23%) Karaktere D'enfer |
8/1(-23%) | (15) Karaktere D'enfer 8/1, Close second of 11 to a useful sort in a newcomers race at Fontainebleau last March. Not beaten far when last of 3 on Doncaster British debut in November but, fitted with a first-time tongue tie, finished tailed off at Fontwell (17.7f, heavy) 10 weeks ago. Had a wind op since. Beaten favourite in both British starts but subsequent wind surgery may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (150/1 -50%) Lucky Lugger |
150/1(-50%) | (5) Lucky Lugger 150/1, Little show in 2 bumpers back in 2022. Can only be watched sent hurdling for a new yard (pulled up all 3 starts in points, latest May 2023). No promise in bumpers/points. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (250/1 -150%) Radharc Na Slaine |
250/1(-150%) | (7) Radharc Na Slaine 250/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has shown little in novice/maiden hurdles this winter. Tongue tie on and a huge step forward is required. Has achieved nothing over hurdles; fitting of tongue-tie needs to make a huge difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (250/1 -25%) Snow Forecast |
250/1(-25%) | (16) Snow Forecast 250/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. 500/1, first run since leaving Jonathan Portman when tailed-off seventh of 11 in juvenile at Warwick (2m, heavy) on hurdle debut 30 days ago. Weak contender on Flat form; no improvement switched to hurdles at Warwick last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LINDY REILLY outran big odds to make the frame on her debut over C&D in December and she would have learned a lot. Dan Skelton's mare is less exposed than most of her rivals and can get off the mark. The main danger might be Golden Maverick, who was a fair performer on the Flat before switching to the Jamie Snowden yard, and his second at Catterick earlier in the month gives him a strong chance. Of the remainder, Ffos Las runner-up Zoeman appeals most on his return from the sidelines.
GOLDEN MAVERICK was a big improver on the Flat for Ian Williams in 2023 (5-time handicap winner) and while he was unable to land the odds when finishing runner-up on his hurdling debut at Catterick recently, this looks a good opportunity to go a place better. Lindy Reilly finished with running left on her hurdling bow here 9 weeks ago, so she's put forward as the main threat, with Gentleman Jacques and Zoeman also considered.
Catterick runner-up GOLDEN MAVERICK may well go one better and add to his Flat wins. Lindy Reilly is second choice.

1st (8) (13/2 +54%) William Of York |
13/2(+54%) | (8) William Of York 13/2, Improved over hurdles for Dan Skelton last spring, completing a hat-trick at Warwick. Shaped encouragingly on yard/chase debut when second at Doncaster but gone backwards since. Headgear on. Below par the last twice but perhaps the first-time cheekpieces will give him a boost. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 +25%) Rath Gaul Hill |
15/2(+25%) | (7) Rath Gaul Hill 15/2, Narrowly denied on sole start in Irish point and went one better on hurdling debut at Ffos Las. Hasn't kicked on since, however, legless at Chepstow 4 weeks ago. Lightly raced 6yo for whom this drop back in trip could bear fruit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/4 +30%) Snowy Evening |
7/4(+30%) | (1) Snowy Evening 7/4, Getting the hang of things over fences, winning 2 of his last 3 starts, both at this track, seeming to have plenty more up his sleeve if required over this trip last month. Can defy 6 lb rise. Made it 2-2 here with C&D win last month and holds strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -243%) Fete Champetre |
12/1(-243%) | (5) Fete Champetre 12/1, Hasn't stood much racing in recent years but all the better for return when winning at Musselburgh last time. Had a bit more in hand than the bare margin suggests so respected up 5 lb. Won at Musselburgh in December and a 5lb rise may not stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -33%) Fearless |
16/1(-33%) | (2) Fearless 16/1, Lightly raced since winning at Aintree (15.8f) but returned with good placed efforts at Uttoxeter/Sedgefield in the autumn. Let down by his jumping both starts since, however. On a tempting mark but there's a suspicion he's best suited by good ground nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (3/1 +50%) Minella Choice |
3/1(+50%) | (9) Minella Choice 3/1, Lightly-raced 7-y-o who shaped well after 8 months off when third of 14 in handicap chase at Ludlow on debut over fences. Failed to build on that at Warwick last month but still early days. Underwhelming last month but third on chase debut previously; could be a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (10/1 -100%) Jazz King |
10/1(-100%) | (3) Jazz King 10/1, Left his hurdle form behind when making a winning start to his chase career at Ludlow (2½m) when last seen in March, coming clear in good style. Sold from Sam Thomas £40,000 in May. Open to further progress over fences. Back from absence but 1-1 over fences and returns with new stable among the winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (18/1 -200%) Maninsane |
18/1(-200%) | (4) Maninsane 18/1, Dual winner in first campaign over fences last term and made the frame 3 of 4 starts this season. Should be in the mix again. Encouraging third at Market Rasen last time and could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 -100%) Valence D'aumont |
66/1(-100%) | (6) Valence D'aumont 66/1, Enhanced good strike rate over fences when landing a Newcastle handicap in December 2021 but well held all 3 starts this season after nearly 2 years off. Well treated on 2021 chase form but has struggled since returning from long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SNOWY EVENING has won two of his last three starts and a 6lb rise for the most recent of those victories may not be enough to stop him here. That said, Fete Champetre also won on his most recent outing and could give the selection plenty to think about. Others who make the shortlist are Maninsane, Rath Gaul Hill and William Of York.
SNOWY EVENING is on the upgrade over fences now and can make it 3 wins from his last 4 starts in this sphere. Fete Champetre had a bit more in hand than the bare margin suggests at Musselburgh so is next best ahead of chase debut winner Jazz King, who remains with potential starting out for a new yard after 11 months off.
Topweight SNOWY EVENING (nap) is 2-2 at Doncaster and taken to maintain his unbeaten record at this venue.

1st (7) (7/2 -27%) Majestic Force |
7/2(-27%) | (7) Majestic Force 7/2, £120,000 buy after running out a wide-margin winner on point debut (Dec 2). Interesting contender, particularly if backed. Debuts for Henry de Bromhead here; tons of potential and a very interesting runner. |

2nd (1) (2/5 +60%) Dr Eggman |
2/5(+60%) | (1) Dr Eggman 2/5, Useful bumper winner who improved on hurdles debut form when second of 12 in novice hurdle (9/2) at Navan (20f, heavy) 32 days ago, staying on. The one to beat with prospect of more to come. Improved for the step up to this trip when just held in a Navan maiden hurdle last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 -78%) Big Stage |
16/1(-78%) | (3) Big Stage 16/1, Successful sole start in points and shaped much better than distance beaten suggests when fifth of 12 in bumper at Naas (18.5f) 24 days ago, dropping away from 2f out. Better expected now hurdling. Soundly beaten in a Naas bumper last month on track debut; probably capable of much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (40/1 -186%) Don Chalant |
40/1(-186%) | (4) Don Chalant 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/4, respectable fourth of 21 in bumper at this course (18f, good to soft). Off 22 months. Makes hurdles debut. First run for yard after leaving W. P. Mullins. Entitled to need the run but still a very interesting runner on his hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 -71%) Practice Run |
12/1(-71%) | (5) Practice Run 12/1, €105,000 3-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam (b84), placed in bumpers, sister to useful hurdler/fair chase winner (stayed 2½m) Shadow Eile. Won sole start in points (April 2023) and he's one to note in the betting for clues on Rules/hurdles bow. Wears tongue strap. Point winner should improve for whatever he does here but another very interesting runner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (33/1 -106%) Surf Club |
33/1(-106%) | (6) Surf Club 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. Fifth of 14 in novice hurdle (14/1) at Limerick (16f, heavy) 22 days ago, not knocked about. Up in trip now but handicaps likely to be more his bag. Bumper and hurdles form quite underwhelming so far, including twice last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Any market support for point-to-point winner Majestic Force should be noted on her Rules debut, after she changed hands for 120,000 pounds at the Cheltenham sales in December. However, preference is for DR EGGMAN, who has plenty of experience on his side and he produced another solid display to hit the crossbar when stepping up to this trip at Navan. The son of Saint Des Saints looks well placed to get off the mark over timber. Notkeepinyagoing has shown some ability and can fight it out for the minor honours.
A useful sort in bumpers, DR EGGMAN took a step forward from his hurdles debut effort when runner-up over this trip at Navan 32 days ago and with further progress likely, he can make it third time lucky in this sphere. Majestic Force, a winner of her only start in points is worth a look on her respective Rules debut. Big Stage and Practice Run complete the shortlist.
it may pay to side with the de Bromhead track newcomer MAJESTIC FORCE, impressive in his sole point for Robert Tector

1st (4) (3/1 +33%) Terresita |
3/1(+33%) | (4) Terresita 3/1, Successful 3 times as a novice hurdler but went without a win last season. Promising second on return/chase debut at Huntingdon (19.9f) in January prior to a slightly underwhelming display back at that venue 2 weeks ago. Remains early days in this sphere at least. Disappointing favourite under Harry Cobden last time but may bounce back; on a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/8 +61%) Malaita |
11/8(+61%) | (5) Malaita 11/8, Won back-to-back handicap hurdles at Carlisle and Cheltenham last term and shaped well to make the frame on her first 2 outings over fences. Put a Cheltenham fall behind her when bumping into another well-handicapped sort over C&D last time and she's a player. Has proved consistent in her completed chase starts, runner-up over C&D most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 -50%) Plenty Of Time |
6/1(-50%) | (1) Plenty Of Time 6/1, Not the easiest of rides but was able to take advantage of a good opportunity to land a 4-runner handicap chase at Wincanton (20.2f, soft, 5/2) in December. More on her plate from revised mark here. Campaigned mostly at Wincanton; 2-2 in mares' novice handicap chases; first run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 -45%) Gazette Bourgeoise |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Gazette Bourgeoise 4/1, Scored twice over hurdles and, though yet to strike in this sphere, she was beaten only a nose on return from 8 months off at Ffos Las (21.5f) in December, idling run-in and collared late on. Bad mistake did for her at Newbury last time and she's still of interest with cheekpieces back on. Went close at Ffos Las on reappearance; lesser effort at Newbury came in a deeper race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 -227%) Ottoline |
18/1(-227%) | (2) Ottoline 18/1, Imposing sort got off the mark in a Uttoxeter novice hurdle in December but proved a let down for the quick switch to fences in a 3-runner handicap there 25 days ago. Still should make a better chaser and she's not ruled out. Disappointing on chase debut but pedigree suggests she should still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (25/1 -150%) Jane Du Berlais |
25/1(-150%) | (7) Jane Du Berlais 25/1, Made her first completed start over hurdles a successful one at Lingfield in December 2022 but failed to complete on 3 of next 4 starts and jumping let her down on chase debut last month, falling 4 out. Others more persuasive. In touch when falling four out at Wetherby (chase debut) last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -52%) Fashion's Model |
100/1(-52%) | (8) Fashion's Model 100/1, Winning pointer who offered a modicum of promise over hurdles during 2021/22 but ended that campaign out of sorts and good deal on her plate from long way out of the weights on belated return/chasing bow. Absent for over two years and is well out of the weights; best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Malaita failed to justify favouritism when beaten 10 lengths into second over track and trip, and she takes a step up in grade but could still get involved. However, the vote goes to top-weight PLENTY OF TIME, who showed a liking for first-time cheekpieces when bolting up at Wincanton on Boxing Day. The eight-year-old now has a 4lb higher rating to contend with, but may have been let off lightly by the handicapper and can record a double. Ottoline completes the shortlist.
Having finished a good second on return at Ffos Las, GAZETTE BOURGEOISE shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests at Newbury subsequently (bad mistake 4 out) and she could be the way to go with cheekpieces refitted. Malaita and Plenty of Time head the dangers, with Terresita another not out of things.
Back against her own sex, solid contender MALAITA (nap) could well open her chase account. Terresita is second choice.

1st (2) (5/1 -43%) Johnson's Blue |
5/1(-43%) | (2) Johnson's Blue 5/1, Progressive and likeable hurdler who recorded a seventh career victory at Haydock (24.2f) in February, kicking on straight and digging deep under pressure. Was closing when unseating rider 2 out on chasing debut at Kelso when last seen in September and has to be respected back over hurdles. Ran okay over fences on sole start this season; 7-14 over hurdles and could make bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 +39%) Come On Teddy |
10/3(+39%) | (3) Come On Teddy 10/3, Fine third in the Pertemps Final at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival. Has yet to fire this season following a 20-month absence but has eased further in the weights and good-value 7-lb conditional now takes over in the saddle. Soundly beaten this season, after long absence, but could benefit from drop back in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (50/1 -100%) Storm Nelson |
50/1(-100%) | (4) Storm Nelson 50/1, Won 5 of his 8 starts during a very good spell with Sandy Thomson but has shown precious little in 3 starts for current yard. Has dropped below last winning mark but has struggled on his three starts this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/1 +7%) Pounding Poet |
7/1(+7%) | (1) Pounding Poet 7/1, Useful handicap hurdler at best but completely out of sorts this season, including in a first-time visor and tongue strap at Wincanton 57 days ago. Has had a breathing operation since. Market check advised after wind op but pulled up the last twice; major turnaround needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (14/1 -17%) Bridge North |
14/1(-17%) | (8) Bridge North 14/1, Made a winning start over fences in a 3-runner handicap chase at Newbury (23.4f, soft) in March, but has been disappointing since and now reverts to hurdles in first-time headgear. The return to hurdles and/or the first-time visor need to prompt a dramatic revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 -50%) Time To Tinker |
9/1(-50%) | (9) Time To Tinker 9/1, Took a step back in the right direction on just second outing for current yard when fifth of 12 in a C&D handicap (good to soft, 33/1) 24 days ago. Not dismissed from his reduced mark. Not the force of old but he didn't run badly last time and is not ruled out in a weak race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (9/2 +40%) Blue Ridge Hill |
9/2(+40%) | (10) Blue Ridge Hill 9/2, Runner-up all 3 starts in bumpers and showed something like his hurdling debut form when fifth of 12 on handicap debut at Sandown (19.8f, heavy, 40/1) 26 days ago. Up in trip and fitted with a first-time tongue strap. Kept on for fair fifth over 2m4f at Sandown on handicap debut; now goes up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (10/1 -82%) Romeo Brown |
10/1(-82%) | (7) Romeo Brown 10/1, Stepped up on his comeback when fifth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, heavy) 39 days ago. Back up in trip and has been given a chance by the assessor. Didn't run badly on soft ground latest and could build on that when back on better surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 -33%) Fable |
12/1(-33%) | (6) Fable 12/1, Irish point/dual hurdles winner who made it third time lucky over fences at Bangor (20.3f) in February. Disappointing since however, again running no sort of race back over hurdles after 8 months off at Ascot last time. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Return to form needed but she's in top hands and has first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (15/2 -15%) Moka De Vassy |
15/2(-15%) | (5) Moka De Vassy 15/2, Finally off the mark in a 4-runner handicap hurdle (13/2) at Taunton (23.9f, good to soft) in December, able to get away with a typically sloppy round of jumping in such a small field. Was found out in better company at Lingfield since, however. Inconsistent and tailed off at Lingfield last month, but won at Taunton two starts ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MOKA DE VASSY struggled in a valuable race at Lingfield last time but the six-year-old is only 1lb higher than when winning at Taunton prior to that. With that in mind, Jane Williams' gelding can be given another chance in this company. Johnson's Blue did not take to fences on his most recent outing and a better effort can be expected back over hurdles, while Blue Ridge Hill remains unexposed and is another to consider.
ROMEO BROWN has slipped to a handy mark on the pick of last season's form and could the answer back up in trip. The dangers are headed by Johnson's Blue, a progressive and most genuine hurdler, and Come on Teddy, who has a handy 7-lb conditional on board for the first time.
The front-runner JOHNSON'S BLUE returns from a break with trainer Mark Walford among the winners and he can enhance his strike-rate.

1st (2) (11/2 -22%) Hispanic Moon |
11/2(-22%) | (2) Hispanic Moon 11/2, Useful chaser. Course winner. 1 win from 2 runs this season. 6/1, 27 lengths sixth of 8 to Jetara in Irish EBF Mares' Hurdle at Leopardstown (20f, soft) 54 days ago. Player on best form. Beat Saylavee in a 2m2f Listed contest here in November; certainly respected on that form. |

2nd (3) (6/1 -33%) Saylavee |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Saylavee 6/1, Useful hurdler. Course winner. 17 lengths fifth of 8 to Jetara in Irish EBF Mares' Hurdle (7/1) at Leopardstown (20f, soft) 54 days ago. Player on best form. Form ties closely with Hispanic Moon;stable second string but not ruled out at the weights. |

3rd (1) (2/7 +42%) Gala Marceau |
2/7(+42%) | (1) Gala Marceau 2/7, Smart hurdler. Respectable 4½ lengths third of 6 to Ashroe Diamond in Yorkshire Rose Mares' Hurdle at Doncaster (16.6f, good, 10/11) 25 days ago. Up in trip. Form pick. No easy task to give away upwards of 9lb in this race but probably still the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (40/1 +0%) Annalecka |
40/1(+0%) | (4) Annalecka 40/1, Thrice-raced winner under NH rules. C&D winner. 2 wins from 3 runs this season. Well-beaten fifth of 6 to Brighterdaysahead in listed hurdle (10/1) at Navan (21f, heavy) 10 days ago. Much better than she showed in a Listed at Navan ten days ago but an unlikely winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This could prove to be a straightforward task for multiple Grade 1 winner GALA MARCEAU, who sets a lofty standard in this contest with a rating of 141. Willie Mullins' mare returned from a 251-day break to be beaten by stablemate Ashroe Diamond at Doncaster and even a repeat of that effort could be good enough to take this. The main threat is stable companion Saylavee, who finished a place in front of Hispanic Moon in a Grade 3 event at Leopardstown in December. Annalecka will need to find significant improvement.
A good opportunity for the smart GALA MARCEAU to resume winning ways despite her free-going style remaining a slight concern. Her stablemate Saylavee is feared most.
Despite giving away upwards of 9lb, it looks safest to side with double Grade 1 winner GALA MARCEAU to bounce back from Doncaster

1st (8) (4/1 +20%) Latin Verse |
4/1(+20%) | (8) Latin Verse 4/1, Fair Flat winner. Struck at the third time of asking over hurdles in Catterick juvenile in November (for this yard). Disappointed at Aintree next time, but returned to form back on not quite so testing ground when runner-up at Huntingdon last month. Now reunited with Syd Hosie for handicap debut. Capable juvenile hurdler and he is now tackling his first handicap as a jumper. |

2nd (11) (4/1 +0%) Royal Deeside |
4/1(+0%) | (11) Royal Deeside 4/1, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat. Just modest form to date over hurdles but no surprise if he does better now handicapping on slightly quicker ground. Flat maiden; beaten in 3 hurdle races won by useful horses; interesting handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (15/2 +25%) Despereaux |
15/2(+25%) | (2) Despereaux 15/2, Off the mark at Huntingdon on his second start before defying a penalty at Taunton last March. Has disappointed since his comeback run but his mark continues to tumble as a result. Ran moderately last time but not disgraced in two handicaps previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 +54%) Thankyourluckystar |
13/2(+54%) | (3) Thankyourluckystar 13/2, Made a successful handicap hurdle debut here last March and backed it up with a creditable effort at Market Rasen the following month. Only start since when pulled up on chasing debut here 104 days ago but return to smaller obstacles should help. Just two runs since winning off 4lb lower here last March and latest was over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/1 +21%) John Betjeman |
11/1(+21%) | (1) John Betjeman 11/1, Likeable type who turned in a rare poor effort when only eighth at Wincanton 40 days ago. Should be back on his game over more suitable distance. Could have some say back over 2m but he finds winning difficult. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/1 -57%) Gower Prince |
11/1(-57%) | (5) Gower Prince 11/1, Showed a bit on the first of 3 starts in bumpers for Matt Sheppard and signs of encouragement a couple of times over hurdles. Needs to up his game from quite a stiff opening mark. Handicaps could see him in a better light; market optimism behind him would boost interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (14/1 +30%) Black Occ |
14/1(+30%) | (7) Black Occ 14/1, Point runner-up who has shown modest form to date over hurdles. 107-day break prior to this handicap debut, so could do better. Lightly raced but makes handicap debut after quite a break and others are safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (22/1 -267%) Mr Hope Street |
22/1(-267%) | (9) Mr Hope Street 22/1, No impact in maiden/novice hurdles over shorter trips but likely to do better at some point and is worth monitoring in the market on handicap debut. Handicap debutant from a leading yard and it was always going to be tough in latest novice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (9/1 -50%) Evenwood Sonofagun |
9/1(-50%) | (4) Evenwood Sonofagun 9/1, Exposed as a fair hurdler. Creditable third in a novice at Hereford 3 months ago but needs to do more. Frustrating maiden and all his best form is on good or faster ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (33/1 -313%) Heross Du Seuil |
33/1(-313%) | (6) Heross Du Seuil 33/1, Successful at Uttoxeter (19.9f) in September and largely acquitted himself well in defeat since. Not so good the last twice however, so needs to bounce back from this reduced mark. Although a winner in September, his recent efforts have been thoroughly underwhelming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (6/1 +14%) Little Pi |
6/1(+14%) | (10) Little Pi 6/1, Improving type who was most underwhelming in his hat-trick bid at Doncaster last time but can't be discounted considering he was on the up prior to that. Poor last time but definite chance off this mark with a repeat of his Wincanton form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Little Pi produced a poor display when seeking the hat-trick at Doncaster but if he can put that effort behind him, he could get into contention off a 1lb lower mark. However, he is passed over in favour of GOWER PRINCE, who has faded out of contention in three starts for the Nigel Twiston-Davies stable but ran to market expectations on each occasion and better is expected now he enters the handicap ranks. Royal Deeside also makes his handicap bow and needs to be monitored in the market.
Juveniles ROYAL DEESIDE and Latin Verse get a chunk of weight for age and might be able to dominate this handicap, with preference for the former, who looks potentially thrown in on Flat form. Despereaux is the pick of the more exposed types.
Alan King's ROYAL DEESIDE is not the only unexposed handicap debutant but he's been running in races won by good horses.

|PU| (5) (11/8 +59%) Big Blue Moon |
11/8(+59%) | (5) Big Blue Moon 11/8, Improved when making a winning handicap debut over hurdles at Carlisle (17f) in March. Turned over when odds on to follow up at Chepstow 4 days later and off since but that was still a creditable effort and he appeals as the type to make a chaser. Up in trip. Makes a big move up in trip for this chase/seasonal debut; one to note. |

|PU| (8) (80/1 -100%) Roxboro Road |
80/1(-100%) | (8) Roxboro Road 80/1, Three-time winner in 2021 but has largely struggled for form since, including starting out for this yard at Sedgefield in November. Struggled after spring 2021, despite a plummeting mark; second run for this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It's difficult to ignore EVENT OF SIVOLA, who has won two of his last three starts and can expand on the sequence with the trip and ground both ideal. Furthermore, the selection is proven at this sort of level and remains competitively weighted despite going up 7lb for his latest success. Big Blue Moon jumped big and bold when winning over hurdles on his penultimate start and is a noteworthy contender now stepped up in trip on his chasing debut. Horacio Apple's is the pick of the rest.
BETTERFOREVERYONE matched his best hurdling form when second to a subsequent winner here 6 weeks ago and can go one better off the same mark. The in-form Event of Sivola is a potential threat along with the returning Big Blue Moon, who is an interesting runner upped markedly in trip for chasing debut.
This may rest between two different types in seasonal/chase debutant BIG BLUE MOON and the experienced, in-form Event Of Sivola.

|PU| (5) (80/1 -220%) Kyusha |
80/1(-220%) | (5) Kyusha 80/1, Quest For Peace mare. Dam modest maiden hurdler (stayed 2¼m). Well-related, immediate family of useful dual-purpose performers Mephisto and Almaydan. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from TAREZE's Rules debut when splitting two promising sorts here last month. Henry de Bromhead's mare sets a strong standard on that runner-up effort and this looks a suitable opportunity for her to go one place better. Atlanticexpress, a half-sister to Lock's Corner, is a potential fly in the ointment on her racecourse bow. Any market support for the five-year-old would be interesting, while decent bumper performer Cuta Des As also warrants respect now tackling hurdles for the first time.
This will likely develop into a match between ex-pointers TAREZE and Cuta Des As, with the first-named taking preference after pulling clear of the remainder when second at this course on hurdling debut. Atlanticexpress is a notable debutant but lack of experience might hold her back.
This has the look of a match and TAREZE, with a recent second under her belt, may exploit the 8lb concession from Cuta Des As

1st (7) (13/8 +60%) Rockinastorm |
13/8(+60%) | (7) Rockinastorm 13/8, Winless following half a dozen runs over hurdles but already a dual winner in this sphere. Tame showing at Warwick a month ago and mark demands more. Could well rebound under Gina Andrews, the winning rider in this race for last two years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 -11%) One True King |
5/1(-11%) | (2) One True King 5/1, Remains well treated on his best form but inconsistent and latest showing at Doncaster was underwhelming. Finished third off 13lb higher in this contest 12 months ago; attractively handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 +14%) Post Chaise |
3/1(+14%) | (6) Post Chaise 3/1, Creditable third of 10 in handicap hurdle (3/1) at Catterick (25.3f, soft) 41 days ago, travelling as well as any. Scored over fences at Market Rasen on previous outing (awarded race) and should give a good account. Unable to take advantage of lower hurdles mark last time but remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 +30%) Dalamoi |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Dalamoi 7/2, Real chasing type who made a positive start in this sphere last season and, while he hasn't really kicked on, his latest fourth at Kempton was a step back in the right direction. Second-season chaser who has possibilities dropped back in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (100/1 -614%) Reve |
100/1(-614%) | (5) Reve 100/1, Unreliable sort who last tasted success here during late 2021. However, essentially disappointing thereafter, pulled up at Southwell (24.2f) when last seen in May 2022. Tough to assess on this belated return for all the handicapper has given him a chance. Defied a 9lb higher mark here in 2021; absent since May 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (9/1 -125%) Didero Vallis |
9/1(-125%) | (3) Didero Vallis 9/1, Disappointed towards the end of last season but more signs of life this term. Respectable second at Catterick 28 days ago and remains potentially well treated, so not ruled out. Respectable second in veterans' event last month; on a three-year losing spell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
The form of POST CHAISE's last-time-out third over hurdles at Catterick is working out well and, the winner of a chase at Market Rasen the time before, albeit via the stewards' room, he looks to have a big chance in this contest. Didero Vallis lines up off the same mark as when runner-up at Catterick and he is likely to give another good account, while the dropped-in-class Dalamoi also holds claims.
POST CHAISE improved to score over fences at Market Rasen in November (awarded the race) and shaped well from his lower hurdles mark since, so he's the solid choice ahead of Didero Vallis, who underlined that he retains plenty of ability at Catterick. Tide Times goes well at this track and shouldn't be dismissed despite a disappointment last time.
The booking of Gina Andrews sways the vote in favour of novice chaser ROCKINASTORM. Second choice is One True King.

1st (9) (Evens +78%) Support Act |
Evens(+78%) | (9) Support Act Evens, Looked potentially useful when making all in Wetherby bumper in April. Faded at 2m3f on soft on h'dle debut; considerable promise on good/good to soft in bumpers. |

2nd (1) (11/1 -57%) Mister Moodles |
11/1(-57%) | (1) Mister Moodles 11/1, Made the frame both starts in bumpers last season and left hurdling debut form behind when landing a weak race over C&D in December. More required under a penalty. Won over C&D last time; open to improvement but others have more substance to their form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/8 +1%) Paradias |
13/8(+1%) | (2) Paradias 13/8, Useful at up to 1½m on the Flat and made a winning start over hurdles with a fair bit in hand at Lingfield (2m) in November. Built on that when third of 5 in an introductory event a Newbury subsequently and appeals as the type to go on again. Useful on the Flat and has shown plenty of promise on both hurdle starts; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 +55%) Montys Soldier |
9/1(+55%) | (5) Montys Soldier 9/1, Easy winner of sole start in Irish points and showed plenty to work on amid inexperience when third in an 8-runner bumper at Ffos Las (15.8f, soft) on debut for Michael Scudamore in April. Makes hurdles debut after 10 months off and probably won't come into his own until tackling longer trips. Point winner who was fair 3rd in sole bumper; betting could be informative on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (10/1 +29%) Skiffle Man |
10/1(+29%) | (8) Skiffle Man 10/1, Mahler gelding. Brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Tim Pat. Attracted support but was badly in need of the experience when sixth of 13 on C&D hurdling debut 42 days ago. Should do better in time. Improvement possible but soundly beaten on debut and Harry Skelton rides Williethebuilder. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (200/1 -33%) Scout Master |
200/1(-33%) | (6) Scout Master 200/1, Maiden Irish pointer who went with little encouragement on his recent hurdles debut at Ludlow. Runner-up in two Irish maiden points but well beaten at 100-1 on recent hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 +11%) Selwan |
25/1(+11%) | (7) Selwan 25/1, Useful on the Flat in France (stays 12.5f) but has folded tamely both starts over hurdles, including on the back of a breathing operation at Kempton last time. Visored for 1st time. Useful on the Flat in France but has struggled under both codes in Britain; visor goes on. |

8th (4) (100/1 -100%) Garitsa Bay |
100/1(-100%) | (4) Garitsa Bay 100/1, Walk In The Park gelding who will be better off in handicaps after this qualifying run. Down the field at triple-figure odds here on his two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (100/1 +0%) Ravanelli |
100/1(+0%) | (10) Ravanelli 100/1, Showed clear signs of ability in a Newcastle bumper but always behind and little promise sent hurdling at Ludlow 47 days ago. Hasn't shown enough on his first two starts to suggest he'll make an impact today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Williethebuilder sets the standard based on his fourth-placed finish in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last October but he hasn't progressed much since and may be worth taking on, despite this representing another drop down in class. With that in mind, MISTER MOODLES could provide a bit of value in his bid to supplement his last-time-out C&D success. The form of that race was boosted by the runner-up winning his next start, while Lingfield winner Paradias is another to consider.
PARADIAS can go on improving as a hurdler based on his Flat form and this looks a good opportunity for him to defy a penalty. Williethebuilder is sure to pose a big threat if bouncing back from a poor run at Musselburgh, while useful bumper winner Support Act seems sure to do better on this second try over hurdles following a break.
The Dan Skelton-trained WILLIETHEBUILDER has shown some strong form and earns the vote ahead of Lingfield winner Paradias.

1st (9) (11/4 -10%) Aodhan May |
11/4(-10%) | (9) Aodhan May 11/4, 16/1, belied market weakness to register a first success over hurdles in 15-runner handicap at Navan (22f, heavy) 10 days ago, leading before last and asserting run-in. 8 lb higher here and she's one to consider. Won 2m6f handicap hurdle at Navan ten days ago, extra 8lb might not be enough to stop her. |

2nd (8) (13/2 +19%) Cosmo Renfro |
13/2(+19%) | (8) Cosmo Renfro 13/2, Winner in hurdle at Limerick in November. 5/1, shaped as if still in good form when third of 12 in handicap hurdle at this course (23f, heavy) 23 days ago. Consistent lately though well adrift of the first two when third here last time.. |

9/2(+10%) | (4) Cher Why Not 9/2, 5/1, typically gave his running when second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (24.2f, heavy) 51 days ago, unlucky to bump into a big improver. Has to be taken seriously. Retains ability at the veteran stage, placed on all three starts this season, stays well. |

5th (10) (22/1 +33%) Cloudy Fountain |
22/1(+33%) | (10) Cloudy Fountain 22/1, Hooded for 1st time, fared no better when ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (21f, heavy, 10/1) 4 months ago. Point winner, 0-9 hurdling, fair fourth at Limerick last May, has failed to build on that. |

5/1(+29%) | (1) Bocelli's Voice 5/1, 9/2, bounced back to form when fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.6f, heavy) 51 days ago. Up in trip. Some merit in his last three runs but needs to find a bit extra to defy top weight here. |

7th (6) (11/2 -10%) Kiln Time |
11/2(-10%) | (6) Kiln Time 11/2, 16/5 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, wasted no time getting back to form on first run since leaving Michael J. Bowe when second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (21f, heavy) 22 days ago, finding less than looked likely. Beaten 12l when second on stable debut over 2m5f at Limerick, solid place chance. |

8th (2) (7/1 -75%) Duffys Getaway |
7/1(-75%) | (2) Duffys Getaway 7/1, Course winner. Good second of 12 in handicap hurdle (14/1) at Fairyhouse (24f, heavy) 25 days ago, collared late on having gone clear soon after 2 out. Can give another good account. Much-improved this term, up an aggregate 26lb since November but may remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (14/1 +58%) Ferrum |
14/1(+58%) | (11) Ferrum 14/1, Ran as well as he has when fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, heavy, 16/1) 2 weeks ago. Up in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Needs to brush up on his jumping. One of his better efforts when fourth over 2m4f at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago, more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (50/1 -100%) I Don't Get It |
50/1(-100%) | (3) I Don't Get It 50/1, Hinted at a revival when fourth of 14 in handicap chase at Down Royal (20.4f, heavy, 16/1) 29 days ago, no extra between last 2. Switches from chase to hurdles. Up in trip. Weak hurdles form in recent months, best run this term over fences at Down Royal on latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
An 8lb rise for Aodhan May's Navan victory earlier in the month looks more than fair and Charles Byrnes' mare warrants respect in her follow-up bid. However, DUFFYS GETAWAY looked set to regain the winning thread at Fairyhouse last month but for idling towards the finish and coming home in second. There still appears to be more races in the seven-year-old and he edges the vote. Fellow in-form rivals Cher Why Not and Kiln Time should give another good account of themselves.
Plenty in with chances but preference is for veteran CHER WHY NOT, who is holding his form really well this season and was unlucky to bump into a big improver at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day. He can get the better of Aodhan May, who belied market weakness to register a first success over hurdles at Navan 10 days ago and could kick on now up and running. Native Gold and Cosmo Renfro can fight out third.
Seemingly not much fancied when winning at Navan two weeks ago, AODHAN MAY has realistic prospects of going in again off 8lb higher

200/1(+0%) | (2) Catch The Crumpet 200/1, No sign of ability 2 starts in bumpers and pulled up at Ffos Las on hurdles bow last time. No promise in three runs over 2m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MONKS MEADOW has posted a number of solid efforts in defeat, earning him an official rating of 116, and he is fancied to open his account. Annie Express pulled well clear of the remainder when chasing home a useful-looking sort from the Paul Nicholls stable at Exeter in December and she looks an obvious threat, while Fortified Fortune adds further spice to the race. The 115,000-pound purchase was touched off by a subsequent bumper winner on his sole outing between the flags 11 months ago.
ANNIE EXPRESS should be suited by the step up in trip and is preferred to Monks Meadow, who sets a fair standard. Touchwoodexpress was a promising third in a bumper at Worcester in September so also needs considering on hurdles bow.
In terms of hurdles form, consistent MONKS MEADOW is the pick. Interesting rules debutant Fortified Fortune is feared most.

33/1(-106%) | (13) Jaxonne 33/1, Tailed off on his sole outing in bumpers and down the field in 3 starts over hurdles. He's worth a market check, though, as he goes back up in distance for his first run in a handicap. Heavy defeats; going handicapping might always unleash some improvement. |

|PU| (11) (28/1 -75%) Magna Moralia |
28/1(-75%) | (11) Magna Moralia 28/1, Sole success from 19 starts over hurdles was registered back in March 2021. Form has been in and out this season, one of his lesser efforts when beaten a long way out at Catterick (25.3f) on New Year's Day. Capable of getting involved if on a going day. Ran respectably on penultimate start, before 3m1f on heavy provided excuses on latest. |

|PU| (9) (80/1 -100%) Matoury |
80/1(-100%) | (9) Matoury 80/1, Didn't offer much in bumpers but wasn't beaten far when finishing third on his first 2 starts over hurdles. After 7 months off, possibly needed the run when well beaten in handicap at Southwell (24.3f) 19 days ago. Others still preferred, though. Off 224 days before his recent handicap debut (3m; 80-1) so may have needed that run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
USHUAIA DANCER was only headed after the last flight of hurdles when runner-up over 2m6f at Newcastle most recently and, despite a 2lb rise in the ratings, he looks to have a big chance cutting back in distance. Harrys Hope is steadily improving and warrants respect on her debut in handicap company, while Pilgrims King and Libor Lad are others to keep an eye on.
Having dropped in the weights, PILGRIMS KING showed that he retains his ability when third at Sedgefield 2 weeks ago and he can build on that effort to return to winning ways. Heading the list of dangers is Ushuaia Dancer, who remains capable of better making only his second start in a handicap, while Pollyonesock is one to note on her stable/handicap debut.
This looks a tough puzzle but Justin Landy's 6yo USHUAIA DANCER gets the vote on his drop back in trip.

11/4(+21%) | (7) Shana Cloon 11/4, 11/2, creditable second of 16 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (17.2f, heavy) 29 days ago. Should continue to give a good account. Up in trip now after making the frame on her last three starts, a leading contender. |

40/1(-82%) | (5) Another Red Cat 40/1, 33/1, twelfth of 22 in handicap hurdle at this course (16.7f, heavy) 52 days ago. Back up in trip. Never closer than sixth on five outings over hurdles, trainer has better chance with Balum. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Getaway Master picked up plenty of minor money at Galway during the autumn but he lacks the recent run of SILENT FLIGHT, who showed his appreciation for the step up from 2m when getting off the mark over C&D and is open to plenty more improvement. Shana Cloon is the one who rises in distance now and has been threatening to win a race. Balum wasn't that far behind the selection last time and might close the gap a little.
SILENT FLIGHT took a marked step forward to justify support here last time and, with further progress on the cards, he's a solid candidate to go in again. Getaway Master and Shana Cloon, both runner-up last time, are two of several others who merit respect.
The five-year-old SHANA CLOON is more likely to be capable of improvement than many of these and may be suited by this rise in trip

3rd (11) (33/1 +34%) Dancing Dani |
33/1(+34%) | (11) Dancing Dani 33/1, Maiden under Rules and recent efforts make her hard to fancy from out of the weights. Maiden under rules; holds weak claims on this season's hurdles form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 -78%) Famoso |
4/1(-78%) | (2) Famoso 4/1, Back to winning ways at Hereford in January and shaped well when third here a fortnight ago. Generally going the right way as a chaser, so worth chancing to add to his productive campaign. Form figures since November read 12313; ran well in higher grade over C&D most recently. |

5th (1) (5/1 +17%) Mister Marbles |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Mister Marbles 5/1, Made all in a Taunton maiden hurdle in March 2022. Just 4 starts since and hasn't taken to chasing. Headgear tried. Currently hard to assess but first-time cheekpieces may have positive effect. |

6th (3) (13/2 -246%) Guillaume |
13/2(-246%) | (3) Guillaume 13/2, 2/1, career best when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Catterick (15.7f, soft) 55 days ago, doing better under change of tactics. Not fully exposed, particularly as a chaser, so could do better still. Opened his rules account at Catterick eight weeks ago; may build on that success. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (3/1 +40%) Gorcombe Moonshine |
3/1(+40%) | (7) Gorcombe Moonshine 3/1, 10/3, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Fontwell (soft) on debut over fences in December. Backed it up with a respectable third at Plumpton and is expected to feature in this thin race. Has taken well to fences, winning at Fontwell then third at Plumpton; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (7/1 +0%) Icarat |
7/1(+0%) | (4) Icarat 7/1, Fair form in French bumpers for Nick Littmoden but yet to make a significant impact over obstacles. Behind when unseating 2 out in a handicap at Ffos Las on chasing bow. Well held when unseating rider two out at Ffos Las (11-2 for chase debut) last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (8/1 +43%) Key Factor |
8/1(+43%) | (10) Key Factor 8/1, Third in a point but has seemed limited to date under Rules (well backed last time). Has not improved over fences but is seemingly thought capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (22/1 +33%) Beannaigh Do |
22/1(+33%) | (9) Beannaigh Do 22/1, Offered more when second on Ffos Las chase debut last spring but has disappointingly failed to build on that, only fifth of 6 in a first-time tongue strap over C&D 14 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Inconsistent maiden; achieved nothing of value here the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GUILLAUME won with plenty in hand to justify favouritism at Catterick last time and a 5lb rise for that nine-length success may not be enough to stop him here. That said, Famoso has proven to be a consistent performer in recent months and he should not be underestimated. Gorcombe Moonshine edges out Icarat to be best of the rest.
FAMOSO has a solid, upwardly-mobile profile over fences and would likely have gone close but for a late error here last time, so he takes marginal preference over Guillaume, who arrives on the back of a comfortable success at Catterick. Gorcombe Moonshine is also considered.
Having clocked up a good sequence in recent starts, including over C&D, FAMOSO gets the vote ahead of Gorcombe Moonshine.

1st (4) (5/4 +64%) Monty Bodkin |
5/4(+64%) | (4) Monty Bodkin 5/4, Expensive as a store (out of Grade 1 winning mare) and went with plenty of promise despite evident inexperience when runner-up at Ascot on debut. Ground was much more testing when down the field at Aintree and yard are going much better, so no surprise to see him bounce back. Second at Ascot (soft) in November but flopped when making the running at Aintree (soft). |

2nd (2) (9/2 -35%) Tom Doniphon |
9/2(-35%) | (2) Tom Doniphon 9/2, £55,000 4-y-o, Great Pretender gelding. Irish point runner-up from the family of Grand Sancy. Won 12-runner bumper at Fontwell (17.7f, soft, 7/2) on NH debut 24 days ago, all out. Leading player. Irish point 2nd; 7-2, won bumper at Fontwell (2m1f, soft) last month by a short head. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/8 +25%) I Play County |
15/8(+25%) | (3) I Play County 15/8, €38,000 3-y-o, Doyen gelding. Winner of his sole start in Irish points and showed a fair amount of ability when fourth of 18 in bumper at this C&D (soft) 42 days ago, well positioned. Respected. C&D fourth of 18 (good to soft) six weeks ago, probably strong form and he should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (125/1 -89%) Tarbuck |
125/1(-89%) | (6) Tarbuck 125/1, Telescope gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful chaser up to 25f Wicklow Lad, from family of 1994 Supreme Novices Hurdle winner Arctic Kinsman. Market can guide. Dam unraced, out of bumper/hurdle winner; stable has modest strike-rate in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (18/1 -13%) Masterpiece |
18/1(-13%) | (8) Masterpiece 18/1, Mastercraftsman gelding. Brother to a winner on Flat and half-brother to 3 winners, including fair hurdler Yukon. Dam 1m winner who stayed 11.5f. Makes some appeal on paper but may need to above average to win this. Yard without a win or place in bumpers this term but this Flat-bred 4yo needs a close look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (8/1 -60%) Off To Alabama |
8/1(-60%) | (1) Off To Alabama 8/1, Telescope gelding. Won 11-runner bumper at Wetherby (16f, heavy, 66/1) on NH debut 18 days ago, pulling clear with an experienced rival. Should go well under penalty. 66-1 for 11-runner maiden bumper at Wetherby (2m, soft) 18 days ago but won it by a neck. |

7th (5) (200/1 +0%) Ronster Monster |
200/1(+0%) | (5) Ronster Monster 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 200/1, last of 14 in bumper at Lingfield (16f, standard) 72 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Can't be fancied. Remote at Bangor (soft) and Lingfield (AW); blinkers go on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Tom Doniphon and Off To Alabama are already winners in this sphere and warrant respect, although conceding weight to some useful-looking rivals will be tough. The New Lion is certainly bred for the job, being a full-brother to smart bumper winner Kateira, and he must enter calculations on his debut, but I PLAY COUNTY gets the nod. This point-to-point scorer made a pleasing Rules bow when fourth behind subsequent Listed winner Royal Infantry over C&D last month and any improvement will see him go very close.
MONTY BODKIN disappointed on heavy ground at Aintree last time but is given another chance to build on a most promising debut at Ascot the previous month for the in-form Ben Pauling yard. Tom Doniphon and Off To Alabama are most respected after successful debuts, with I Play County and well-connected newcomer The New Lion others to consider in a strong-looking heat.
It may prove tough for the winners to concede 7lb to I PLAY COUNTY, judged on the selection's fourth in a large field over C&D.

1st (6) (8/15 +58%) Sermandzarak |
8/15(+58%) | (6) Sermandzarak 8/15, €80,000 3-y-o, Zarak gelding. Closely related to a winner on Flat and half-brother to 2 winners, including fair hurdler Sermando. Dam jump/1¼m winner on Flat in Italy. Makes plenty of appeal on paper and worth chancing to make a winning start. Obviously respected from these quarters and likely one of the market leaders. |

2nd (5) (22/1 -175%) Real Empire |
22/1(-175%) | (5) Real Empire 22/1, Once-raced maiden. 50/1 and hooded, third of 6 in bumper at Gowran (16f, heavy) on NH debut 27 days ago, not knocked about. Was quite green at Gowran and could be capable of real progress but others still preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (14/1 -180%) Harry's Dream |
14/1(-180%) | (4) Harry's Dream 14/1, Once-raced maiden. Second of 6 in bumper (10/1) at Gowran (16f, heavy) on NH debut 27 days ago, clear of rest. Could do better. Should come on for Gowran effort but might find one or two too good once more. |

4th (3) (18/1 -157%) Delta Force |
18/1(-157%) | (3) Delta Force 18/1, 15,000 gns 3-y-o, Fastnet Rock gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Clear White Light and bumper winner Daytona Beach. Dam 7f/1m winner. Nice mix of middle-distance sepped and stamina in his pedigree; probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (2) (5/2 +9%) Colcannon |
5/2(+9%) | (2) Colcannon 5/2, Once-raced maiden. 17/2, third of 14 in bumper at Naas (16f, soft) on NH debut 40 days ago. Worth considering. Close third in an unraced bumper at Naas last month; sets a decent standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (25/1 -25%) Ben Purple |
25/1(-25%) | (1) Ben Purple 25/1, €27,000 3-y-o, Elusive Pimpernel gelding. Half-brother to useful chaser The Long Mile, stays 25f, and unreliable but fairly useful hurdler Larkbarrow Lad, stayed 25f. Very solid jumping pedigree; may find a few too good but interesting for future reference. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Harry's Dream and Real Empire made the podium behind a smart prospect of Robcour's on Thyestes day at Gowran but they bump into another interesting type in the same ownership in the shape of SERMANDZARAK, who cost 80,000 euros. The Gordon Elliott-trained four-year-old has a useful Flat pedigree, as does Godolphin cast-off Delta Force, while Colcannon offered plenty of encouragement when third at Naas and has to be feared.
SERMANDZARAK has the speed in his pedigree to be capable in this sphere and he's in top hands, so he may be up to making a successful debut at the possible expense of Colcannon, who makes most appeal of those with experience.
A good standard is set by close Naas third COLCANNON and he can go a couple of places better here

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Representing the Gary Brown yard, HANNAH'S RETURN justified strong support in the betting market when making virtually all in a similar event over 6f at Wolverhampton last month. A return to 7f should prove no issue for this dual distance winner and a double could be on the horizon. Maurices Men has been performing with credit in defeat in handicap company of late and he is feared most, ahead of fellow in-form rival Admirable Lad.
REPARTEE bounced back to form when second in a similar event at Lingfield and tops the shortlist ahead of Maurices Men and Hannah's Return.
Hannah's Return (second choice) and Maurices Men have plenty to recommend them but the formerly useful REPARTEE is preferred.

Latest third on handicap debut at Lingfield (19.5f) was a creditable display and he could yet have more to offer now his stamina is tested further. Creditable third at Lingfield (handicap debut) last time; respected back down in class. |

2nd (1) (25/1 -79%) Honneur D'ajonc |
25/1(-79%) | (1) Honneur D'ajonc 25/1, Multiple hurdles winner who opened his account over fences at Hereford (20.9f) 13 months ago. However, it's essentially been a struggle since, again finishing well held over fences at Wincanton in January. Return to timber needs to have positive effect. Could revive off this reduced mark dropped in grade and back hurdling. |

7/2(+42%) | (6) Le Grand Lion 7/2, Lightly-raced 8-y-o who opened his account over hurdles at Huntingdon in December 2021. Absent since finishing down the field over fences in spring the following year but returns from 21 months off with his yard in great nick. Tongue tie on. Worth considering with Harry Cobden booked. Absent since May 2022; well handicapped assuming he retains ability. |

4th (4) (6/4 -9%) Herakles Westwood |
6/4(-9%) | (4) Herakles Westwood 6/4, Fair form in bumpers and firmly on the up over hurdles, bringing up the hat-trick in handicaps when accounting for 10-rivals at Catterick (19.3f) 4 weeks ago, again finding plenty for pressure. Likeable sort and he's firmly in the mix again despite career-high mark. Improving hurdler; 3-4 in handicaps; has to be feared despite another rise in weights. |

|PU| (7) (14/1 -27%) Gentle Victor |
14/1(-27%) | (7) Gentle Victor 14/1, Well held only start in bumpers but some promise on first of 3 starts in novice hurdles during second half of last year. Up in trip for handicap debut following 81 days off, so worth monitoring in the betting for clues. Best RPR at this venue; possible improver back here on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HERAKLES WESTWOOD arrives here having racked up a hat-trick in recent months and the seven-year-old is clearly the one to beat again, despite a further 6lb rise for his most recent success. Canty Bay made the frame at Lingfield's Winter Million fixture and he could pick up more prize money, while Black Kalanisi and Le Grand Lion are others to note.
LE GRAND LION has a lengthy absence to overcome yet he returns to action from a potentially lenient mark for a yard going great guns and in a first-time tongue tie he could just be worth chancing with Harry Cobden an eye-catching booking. Herakles Westwood has developed into a most likeable sort and he's highly respected in his bid to land the 4-timer. Canty Bay is another to note with his stamina now tested further.
Herakles Westwood is firmly in the winning groove but he's taken on with CANTY BAY.

1st (4) (10/11 -25%) Los Toldos |
10/11(-25%) | (4) Los Toldos 10/11, Showed plenty to work on when second of 7 in minor event at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 11/4) on debut 11 days ago, staying on gradually without being knocked about. Can step forward from that first outing to go one better. 750,000gns Frankel colt; obvious chance having bumped into a good one on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 +9%) Clockwatcher |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Clockwatcher 5/1, Made plenty of appeal on paper but held back by inexperience when third of 7 in minor event (15/8) at Chelmsford City (10f) on debut a month ago. Open to improvement as he goes up in distance. Beaten nearly 13l into third of seven on debut at Chelmsford but much better expected here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (33/1 -136%) College Choir |
33/1(-136%) | (7) College Choir 33/1, In first-time blinkers, showed more than on debut when fifth of 8 in maiden (14/1) at this course (11f) 28 days ago, plugging on. Further improvement required but she should benefit from this extra furlong. Might want even further than 1m4f and minor placing could be best hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (11/4 +17%) Monterosa |
11/4(+17%) | (9) Monterosa 11/4, Ran well behind an improving type when second of 7 in nursery at Newmarket (10f, good to soft, 6/1) in October. Bred to be suited by this longer trip as she makes her polytrack debut. Respected on her return. Form has a solid look to it and could easily have more to offer upped in trip at three. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (15/2 -7%) Encomiare |
15/2(-7%) | (1) Encomiare 15/2, Showed benefit of initial experience when winning 7-runner minor event (20/1) at Southwell (11.1f) 43 days ago. Merits consideration. Southwell novice he won second time out probably didn't take much winning in the end. |

6th (6) (20/1 +60%) Wahoo King |
20/1(+60%) | (6) Wahoo King 20/1, 43,000 gns yearling, Awtaad colt. Closely related to 1¾m-2m winner Pledgeofallegiance and half-brother to 1¾m winner Lilypad and 1m-1½m winner Accountability. Has a fair standard to aim at on debut. Newcomer; trainer known for having the odd one pop up at huge odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (250/1 -150%) Succeed |
250/1(-150%) | (5) Succeed 250/1, Well held both starts so far, last of 7 in minor event (200/1) at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 11 days ago. Looks to be up against it. Second last on debut in November then last 11 days ago; can't fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (125/1 -150%) Mary Chesnut |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Mary Chesnut 125/1, Very green on debut when seventh of 8 in maiden (40/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 26 days ago. Up in trip but she's likely to need more time. Too green to do herself justice on debut at Wolverhampton and looks a longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (150/1 -200%) C'est Encore |
150/1(-200%) | (2) C'est Encore 150/1, 7,000 gns foal, Holy Roman Emperor gelding. Brother to 1m-1½m winner Cousteau, closely related to useful 1¼m-1¾m winner C'est No Mour. Dam German 7f/1m winner. Faces a tough ask on debut. Closely related to C'Est No Mour who won 13 races (eight for Simon Hodgson); watch here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Monterosa arguably sets the standard on her runner-up effort in a competitive handicap at Newmarket in October and the Lope De Vega filly is sure to be involved if resuming at the same level. However, there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from LOS TOLDOS' staying-on second on his debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month and he edges the vote with improvement likely. Penalised winner Encomiare may fare best of the remainder.
LOS TOLDOS shaped well on debut when runner-up to a useful prospect at Wolverhampton 11 days ago, finishing with running left, and he can build on that effort to open his account. He is taken to get the better of Monterosa, who sets the standard based on her second in a Newmarket nursery when last seen, with Encomiare completing the shortlist.
Frankel colt LOS TOLDOS finished best of the rest behind a very impressive winner on debut at Wolverhampton 11 days ago.

3rd (5) (16/5 +9%) Dynamic Talent |
16/5(+9%) | (5) Dynamic Talent 16/5, Course winner. Latest win at Southwell in January. Good third of 9 in handicap (6/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 15 days ago. Expected to be bang there. 2024 form reads well and has solid chance if lasting home. |

9/2(-100%) | (1) Smiling Sunflower 9/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 6-runner handicap at this C&D (13/2) 7 days ago, overcoming pace bias. Carries penalty and another bold bid expected. Key player if turning up in same form as when winning over C&D last week. |

8th (9) (50/1 -79%) Sir Laurence Graff |
50/1(-79%) | (9) Sir Laurence Graff 50/1, Last of 12 in handicap at this course (11f, 66/1) 21 days ago. Down in trip. Returning to shorter might stop him from pulling but he has shown next to nothing of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (18/1 -13%) Emorcee |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Emorcee 18/1, First run since leaving David Marnane when last of 7 in handicap (10/1) at this C&D 21 days ago. Others more persuasive. Now 0-12 and can't support with headgear still missing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SMILING SUNFLOWER did well to overcome a slow start when getting up to lead in the dying strides over C&D last week. Although Mick Appleby's mare will need to break better in this event, she looks to have more races in her, particularly on this drop in class. Uzincso posted a solid effort in defeat over track and trip in January and the eight-year-old should give another good account of himself racing off 1lb lower. Dynamic Talent is likely to be in the mix, too.
DYNAMIC TALENT went close to quickly resuming winning ways at Wolverhampton 2 weeks ago despite a slow start and remains of interest. Penalised-winner Smiling Sunflower and the veteran Uzincso are others to consider.
Having pounced very late in a C&D 0-85 last week, SMILING SUNFLOWER looks the one to be on.

2nd (1) (5/1 +44%) Taravara |
5/1(+44%) | (1) Taravara 5/1, One win from 23 Flat runs. Last of 12 in handicap (28/1) at Newbury (8f, good to firm). Off 9 months. Liable to need the run. Market can guide on return to action with yard in form. |

3rd (5) (9/1 -80%) Sea Of Charm |
9/1(-80%) | (5) Sea Of Charm 9/1, Creditable second of 12 in handicap at this course (11f, 14/1) 21 days ago, no match for winner. Down in trip. Remains on a handy mark and should be on the premises. Hasn't run over a trip this short since 2021 and she's opposable. |

Something to find on form. Well behind Cephalus on stable debut; needs to have been transformed by gelding operation. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 -100%) Devore |
50/1(-100%) | (7) Devore 50/1, 40/1, last of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 33 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Hopes of a revival on third start for new yard probably hinge on return to shorter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Delta Legend got off the mark at Lingfield but although there was a subsequent winner back in fifth, the form may not amount to a great deal. Even so, he warrants consideration, but CEPHALUS will be hard to beat because he has just been touched off here and at Southwell since a Lingfield triumph and is clearly at the top of his game. Sea Of Charm will find this trip short enough but should be putting in her best work at the finish.
CEPHALUS tanked through the race when runner-up over C&D last time and he looks ready to strike, so he's marginally preferred to recent Lingfield scorer Delta Legend, with Sea of Charm also making the shortlist.
Gary Moore's CEPHALUS pulled nicely clear of the third when runner-up the last twice having landed a monster gamble the time before.

11/10(-108%) | (4) Notable Speech 11/10, Highly promising type who made a winning debut in 7-runner maiden over C&D 25 days ago, conceding first run. Open to plenty of improvement. Looks an exciting prospect having scored with plenty in hand on debut (C&D). |

2nd (3) (11/1 -38%) Cuban Tiger |
11/1(-38%) | (3) Cuban Tiger 11/1, Well supported and duly made a winning debut in 8-runner minor event at Southwell (6.1f) 46 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Likely more to come yet. Value for bit more than head winning margin on debut; should stay and play minor role. |

3rd (6) (8/1 -23%) Solomon |
8/1(-23%) | (6) Solomon 8/1, Twice-raced winner. Won 7-runner minor event at Southwell (8.1f, 1/5) 22 days ago, well on top finish. Should progress. May need 1m2f before long but is worthy of great respect. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/2 +72%) Blown Away |
5/2(+72%) | (2) Blown Away 5/2, Fairly useful gelding. Winner at Chelmsford City in September. Found improvement in recent starts, latest when narrow second of 9 in nursery over C&D in November. Gelded since and holds solid claims. Just about sets the standard but looks vulnerable to an improver. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Cuban Tiger was made to work hard to land the odds on his Southwell debut, but the form has been given a few boosts and the 200,000-euro colt commands attention. NOTABLE SPEECH also struck at the first time of asking but there might be a bit more merit to his C&D victory, and his stable's record in this race also helps sway the vote in his favour. Plenty more can be expected from last-start scorers Solomon and Arctic Thunder, while the more experienced Blown Away actually sets the standard with an official mark of 90.
This can go to NOTABLE SPEECH, who should have learnt plenty from his comfortable debut victory over C&D last month. Blown Away and Solomon look the likeliest dangers.
Charlie Appleby could make it three winners from three runners in this race courtesy of exciting prospect NOTABLE SPEECH.

4/1(+0%) | (5) Fleur De Mer 4/1, Latest win at Newcastle in September. 11/2, creditable third of 11 in handicap over C&D in October. Remains fairly treated and another bold bid is on the cards. Has done little wrong in handicaps and she's a big player if fully wound up off a break. |

7th (2) (7/1 -133%) Throubi |
7/1(-133%) | (2) Throubi 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Third of 5 in minor event at this course (8f, 2/1) 77 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Longer trip should suit on handicap debut and merits consideration. Very interesting candidate now handicapping up in trip. |

8th (9) (16/1 -60%) Moonlit Cloud |
16/1(-60%) | (9) Moonlit Cloud 16/1, Back from 6 months off when good fifth of 12 in handicap (16/1) over C&D 21 days ago, left with lot to do. Claims if building on that. Major player if building on comeback run over C&D three weeks ago. |

9th (3) (40/1 -233%) Lovealot Bear |
40/1(-233%) | (3) Lovealot Bear 40/1, Twice-raced winner on Flat. Course winner. Hooded for 1st time, third of 10 in minor event (9/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 12 days ago, slowly away. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. More needed. Not easy to assess but percentage call is to watch first handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (12/1 -20%) Silver Nightfall |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Silver Nightfall 12/1, Eighth of 12 in handicap (25/1) at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 57 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Hood on 1st time. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Has gone off the boil and more severe headgear probably needs to help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LOVEALOT BEAR went some way to proving her 150/1 shock here was no fluke when making the frame at Wolverhampton and given she began her career in bumpers, the rise in trip for her handicap debut should be right up her street. Avon Light made a bang in-form filly pull out all the stops at Wolverhampton, while Eleanor Cross went down by the narrowest of margins at Lingfield but was well beaten in the Winter Oaks there on her only previous start in handicap company. Fleur De Mer and Throubi are a couple more to consider.
FLEUR DE MER has done little wrong since switched to handicap company and remains on a workable mark. She gets the nod in a tricky-looking contest. Throubi and Avon Light head the list of dangers.
James Fanshawe and Daniel Muscutt bagged this with an unexposed 4yo last year and THROUBI (nap) looks a likely improver.

9/1(+36%) | (5) Fullforward 9/1, 7½ lengths tenth of 12 to Largo Bay in handicap at Lingfield (13f, AW, 11/2) 16 days ago, headed over 2f out and no extra having raced freely. 3rd (1) (11/8 +39%) Largo Bay |
11/8(+39%) | (1) Largo Bay 11/8, C&D winner who ended losing run at Lingfield (12f) and followed up back at that venue (13f) 16 days ago, knuckling down well to lead near line. 2 lb higher mark shouldn't prevent him going well again in hat-trick bid. C&D winner; chasing hat-trick after 2 Lingfield wins; still nicely treated; strong claims. |

4th (3) (5/1 +0%) Elterwater |

Possible she could yet have more to offer. Promising fourth over 1m3f on her return to action; capable of better and one to consider. |

15/2(+32%) | (9) Alioski 15/2, Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap (13/2) at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 18 days ago. Dropped to a handy mark and booking of Murphy catches the eye. Finished midfield in two Wolverhampton runs this year; Oisin Murphy booked but needs more. |

12/1(-200%) | (2) Kingston Joy 12/1, Good second of 7 in handicap (28/1) at this course (11f) 18 days ago, progress 2f out and keeping on. Remains on last winning mark and respected if she can build on that here. On her winning mark and latest course second (1m3f) was a return to form; e-w claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (16/1 -45%) Naadyaa |
16/1(-45%) | (8) Naadyaa 16/1, 16/1, creditable length fourth of 11 to Largo Bay in handicap at Lingfield (12f, AW) 26 days ago, losing 2 places near line. Clearly in good heart but fact she remains winless is off-putting. 0-30 but she has been threatening of late; each-way claims once more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The hat-trick seeking Largo Bay must be considered from just 2lb higher than his latest win. However, NAADYAA finished just a length behind the Michael Madgwick-trained top-weight when the pair clashed over this trip at Lingfield at the end of January and can turn the form around with a 4lb pull. Kingston Joy and Sao Timothy are others to consider based on improved recent form.
Having fallen plenty in the weights, LARGO BAY arrives on a hat-trick and, remaining with handicapping scope on old form, all looks set fair for another bold showing. Sao Timothy ran well at Wolverhampton last week and he's feared, with Elterwater and Fiddlers Green another pair to consider.
Elterwater still has time on her side and she's greatly respected but LARGO BAY is thriving and he can complete a quick hat-trick.

Interesting connections up him further in trip now dropped in grade and not discounted from easing mark. Upped in trip and dropped in class; Oisin Murphy rides for the first time; may do better. |

2nd (1) (13/2 -30%) De Vega's Warrior |
13/2(-30%) | (1) De Vega's Warrior 13/2, Remains a maiden after 21 Flat runs. Respectable third of 10 in handicap (5/1) at this C&D 28 days ago. Not taken lightly. 0-21 but he's gone close a couple of times this winter; each-way shout once again. |

3rd (7) (14/1 +13%) Abraaj |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Abraaj 14/1, Unreliable type. Visored for 1st time, fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, soft, 11/1) 162 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Had wind op ahead of this return to the level. Has C&D form but his profile is patchy; absent since September; wind op since last run. |

4th (4) (4/1 -14%) Two Past Eight |
4/1(-14%) | (4) Two Past Eight 4/1, Dual winner in juvenile hurdles (fair form) and comes here on the back of creditable fifth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 32 days ago, having every chance. Not out of things. Two hurdle wins last year; fair Flat runs this winter but others look better handicapped. |

5th (9) (12/1 -200%) Natacata |
12/1(-200%) | (9) Natacata 12/1, 11/2, creditable 1¼ lengths second of 8 to Man of Riddles in handicap at Chelmsford City (16f) 39 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Expected to be bang there. 0-14 but ran well when second to Man Of Riddles over 2m at Chelmsford last month. |

6th (6) (16/1 -129%) Smart Champion |
16/1(-129%) | (6) Smart Champion 16/1, C&D winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/2, creditable third of 6 in handicap at Southwell (16.5f) 16 days ago, left behind final 1f. C&D winner; on losing run and although he's down in the weights, others appeal more. |

7th (3) (12/1 -100%) Man Of Riddles |
12/1(-100%) | (3) Man Of Riddles 12/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in January. 7/1, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 32 days ago. Not ruled out in present groove. Beat Natacata over 2m at Chelmsford last month; fair 4th in race not run to suit latest. |

8th (5) (14/1 -40%) Another Beautiful |
14/1(-40%) | (5) Another Beautiful 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f, 33/1) 18 days ago, forced to switch inside final 1f and plugging on. Further increase in trip here could well help (dam won over 2m). Not beaten far over 1m6f last time; still low mileage and this new trip could suit. |

9th (8) (125/1 -525%) Rendition |
125/1(-525%) | (8) Rendition 125/1, Winner over 2m for Stuart Edmunds last year but offered little in pair of starts for new yard on the back of an absence. Hard to warm to at present with the hood now discarded. AW winner off 2lb higher for former yard; yet to fire for this stable after a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
As a 21-raced maiden DE VEGA'S WARRIOR obviously carries risk for win only purposes. However, to counter that, the five-year-old's recent form has been highly encouraging and he looks capable of giving weight and a beating to these rivals. Man Of Riddles, a surprise winner at Chelmsford on his penultimate start, can go close if adapting to the surroundings on his first run at this venue, while Natacata was second in that Chelmsford race and also enters calculations.
NATACATA probably made her effort sooner than ideal but still shaped like the best horse at the weights when reeled in late by re-opposing Man of Riddles at Chelmsford 39 days ago and she's worth a chance to confirm her present mark a good one. Legacy Power and Two Past Eight are also considered.
Legacy Power drops in class and retains potential but preference is for MAN OF RIDDLES who wasn't seen to best effect last time.
Ths is the racecard key.
