1st (8) (16/1 +0%) Fortunefavorsdbold |
16/1(+0%) | (8) Fortunefavorsdbold 16/1, Fair winning hurdler in Ireland but made mistakes before falling 4 out in mares handicap at Ludlow (20f) on her stable/chase debut in October. Has shown little over hurdles since, so she has something to prove tried chasing again in first-time cheekpieces. Possibilities if she takes well to first-time cheekpieces; second chase attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/1 -140%) Flintara |
8/1(-140%) | (6) Flintara 8/1, Won 2 of her 3 starts over hurdles last season and showed more than on her chase debut over 2 years earlier when third at Ffos Las on her return. Recorded an easy success in 3-runner race at Fontwell (26f) in December, so she could still have more to offer in this sphere. Won similar event at Fontwell last time; still unexposed over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/2 -44%) Presenting A Queen |
13/2(-44%) | (1) Presenting A Queen 13/2, Won 2 bumpers and a novice hurdle on her first 3 starts under Rules. Has at least matched that level when runner-up over fences on her last 2 outings, though she had looked in control before hanging badly left at Hereford (25.2f) last time. Has form figures of 322 since switched to chasing; tired late over 3m1f last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3/1 -20%) Jacks Touch |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Jacks Touch 3/1, Has shown improved form switched to chasing this season, gaining her third success over fences when forging clear in mares handicap at this course (19.9f) last month. Can add to her tally with the potential for more still to come upped in trip. 3-3 in mares' handicap chases, most recently beating Terresita here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/2 +44%) Kraqueline |
9/2(+44%) | (7) Kraqueline 9/2, Maiden hurdler who, after 7 months off, proved a different proposition when making a winning start over fences in novice handicap at Wincanton (20.2f) in October. She's gone backwards from that in 2 starts since, but it does still remain early days for her as a chaser. Off the mark at Wincanton on debut over fences; disappointing in both runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/4 +21%) Terresita |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Terresita 11/4, Successful 3 times as a novice hurdler but went without a win last season. However, she offered something to work on when second of 5 to Jacks Touch in mares handicap here on her seasonal/chase debut, so she could take a step forward from her latest outing. Ties in with Jacks Touch on course running (chase debut) and is open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (15/2 +32%) So Said I |
15/2(+32%) | (4) So Said I 15/2, Dual winning hurdler back in 2021/22 and showed aptitude for chasing when second of 4 in mares novice handicap at Wincanton (20.2f) in December. Not in the same form when well beaten at Chepstow last time, though, finishing tired. Needs to find more. Has not transferred her hurdles form to fences in two attempts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (33/1 -50%) Grasse D'oliverie |
33/1(-50%) | (5) Grasse D'oliverie 33/1, French recruit who won handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f) in April last year. Given a considerate return from 7 months off at Wetherby in November, but ran no sort of race on first chase start for current yard at Lingfield 17 days later. Has had a wind op since. Latest effort took her chase form figures to 27UP; had wind surgery since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Jacks Touch registered a third triumph of the season when scoring with ease over 2m4f here and a 7lb rise in the ratings shouldn't prevent another bold bid. However, PRESENTING A QUEEN's runner-up effort in a class 2 event at Hereford in December may prove the stronger form. The seven-year-old should enjoy this drop in class and she edges the vote. Last-time-out Fontwell winner Flintara could also prove dangerous if allowed an easy lead.
JACKS TOUCH has taken well to chasing this season, making it 3 wins from 5 starts over fences with a ready success at this course last time, so she can go on to score again with this step up in trip likely to suit. Flintara was a wide-margin winner at Fontwell on her latest outing and could be the biggest threat, ahead of Terresita.
The rematch between Jacks Touch and Terresita could go either way. PRESENTING A QUEEN and Flintara are other big players.

1st (6) (11/2 +0%) Rabinal |
11/2(+0%) | (6) Rabinal 11/2, Latest win at Magdeburg in September. Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (8f, AW, 3/1) 15 days ago, slowly away. Remains of interest and drops back to 7f with a strong pace likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (15/2 -50%) Maurices Men |
15/2(-50%) | (10) Maurices Men 15/2, Good second of 6 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 11/2) 17 days ago, having run of race. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Can give a good account. Only had the six races and gave it a good go from the front at Kempton (7f); tricky draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/3 +5%) So Chic |
10/3(+5%) | (2) So Chic 10/3, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. Creditable third of 12 in handicap at this course (8f, AW, 12/1) 25 days ago, left poorly placed. Expected to be bang there. Hold-up performer who needs a true gallop and should get one here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (40/1 -186%) Regal Glory |
40/1(-186%) | (11) Regal Glory 40/1, C&D winner. 18/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 15 days ago. On a losing run of ten and was only fourth of seven after a break at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (20/1 -100%) Port Noir |
20/1(-100%) | (8) Port Noir 20/1, Good fourth of 12 in handicap (18/1) at this C&D (AW) 6 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Fourth over C&D last week but it was hard work and she finds winning difficult these days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (33/1 +0%) Chico Dulce |
33/1(+0%) | (4) Chico Dulce 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 80/1). Off 98 days. First run for yard after leaving Rebecca Woodman. Easy to look elsewhere. Only eighth of ten on handicap debut when last seen in early November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (7/2 -5%) El Hibri |
7/2(-5%) | (1) El Hibri 7/2, Latest win at Southwell in January. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 9/4) 2 days ago. Carries penalty. Not taken lightly. Recent Southwell winner but below best at Wolverhampton on Tuesday; first visit here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (18/1 -125%) Handel |
18/1(-125%) | (7) Handel 18/1, One win from 27 Flat runs. Good third of 9 in handicap at Kempton (8f, 17/2) 22 days ago. 1-27 overall; respectable third at Kempton latest but 1m is more his trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (25/1 -56%) Media Guest |
25/1(-56%) | (3) Media Guest 25/1, One win from 31 Flat runs. Twenty five runs since last win in 2021. Last of 10 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 14 days ago. Third at Chelmsford in November but down the field in his subsequent races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (7/2 +61%) Major Gatsby |
7/2(+61%) | (5) Major Gatsby 7/2, Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. Creditable sixth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 7/1) 80 days ago. Ran well plenty of times last season; feasible excuses the last twice; off since Nov. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (16/1 -60%) Broxi |
16/1(-60%) | (9) Broxi 16/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 6 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 10/1) 21 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Hadn't been in any form before finishing a 3l fourth of six at Southwell (6f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
So Chic kept on well to hit the frame over a mile here last month and though she's a dual winner at this trip, John Long's filly might need a good pace to aim at back over 7f. With that in mind, the vote goes to MAURICES MEN, who posted a career-best performance when narrowly denied at Kempton 17 days ago. First-time cheekpieces could elicit further improvement, with the booking of Hollie Doyle a positive one. Others to note include Handel and Regal Glory.
SO CHIC was unlucky not to follow up her C&D win here last month and can quickly resume winning ways. Penalised-winner El Hibri is next best ahead of Maurices Men.
The prospect of having a fast pace to chase heightens interest in RABINAL (nap). He did well to finish second here two runs back.

It's A Love Thing |
(3) (40/1 -300%)40/1(-300%) | (3) It's A Love Thing 40/1, Fairly useful on Flat and much improved over hurdles when justifying support at long odds in a Sedgefield maiden (16.8f) in October. Sustained a minor wound to his left fore when pulled up at Newcastle a month later but quickly bounced back to form when runner-up on the level there 12 days ago. Had an excuse on most recent hurdles start; still unexposed in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (6/5 +13%) Nordic Tiger |
6/5(+13%) | (5) Nordic Tiger 6/5, French import who showed improved form to get off the mark in 11-runner handicap at Wincanton (19.8f, soft) last week, easily. Escapes a penalty for that and shouldn't be inconvenienced by the drop back in trip given how he went through the race. Hard to get away from. Escapes a penalty for 2m4f win last week and Alice Stevens can use 5lb claim to boot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 +73%) Roccovango |
3/1(+73%) | (1) Roccovango 3/1, Fair in bumpers and similar form when placed on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles last season. Shaped as if better for the run after 8 months off when well held in a Clonmel maiden in November and has since joined Olly Murphy. Open to improvement now handicapping for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (25/1 -79%) Bluegrass |
25/1(-79%) | (4) Bluegrass 25/1, Useful on the Flat for Aidan O'Brien (placed in the 2022 Dante). Showed promise over hurdles when runner-up in a pair of juveniles in March. A shade underwhelming on his handicap debut at Ascot but shaped as if needing the run on his comeback at Taunton last month. Hard to dismiss off current mark returned to handicap level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (5/1 -100%) Goblet Of Fire |
5/1(-100%) | (7) Goblet Of Fire 5/1, Won 3 of his last 4 starts on the Flat for Nigel Tinkler and made the most of a good opportunity on his second hurdle start at Hereford (16.2f) last month, pushed out. The runner-up has franked that form and he's open to further improvement now handicapping in this sphere. Form of Hereford success is solid; unexposed juvenile hurdler who has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (22/1 -193%) Quian |
22/1(-193%) | (6) Quian 22/1, Smart performer at one time on the Flat and took a step forward to open his account over hurdles in 11-runner handicap at Taunton (16.5f) 56 days ago. That form has taken a few knocks since but he's clearly still well-in on Flat form following a 5 lb rise. Won at Taunton eight weeks ago; remains favourably treated on best German Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/2 +61%) King William Rufus |
11/2(+61%) | (2) King William Rufus 11/2, Showed plenty when placed all 3 bumper outings last season. Best effort over hurdles when runner-up in 2m Newbury maiden at the beginning of December but failed to improve (despite travelling as well as any) switched to a handicap at Ascot last time. Still well treated on bumper form, which has plenty of substance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Last week's ready Wincanton scorer NORDIC TIGER escapes a penalty on this quick turnaround. Harry Derham's gelding is 10lb well-in compared to his revised mark and a quickfire double looks a strong possibility. Goblet Of Fire shed his maiden tag over hurdles at the chief expense of a subsequent winner at Hereford and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, with his 12lb weight-for-age allowance a big advantage. Taunton scorer Quian completes the shortlist.
Cases can be made for quite a few, but it was hard not to be impressed by NORDIC TIGER'S manner of victory at Wincanton last week and he's hard to get away from given he escapes a penalty for that success. Goblet of Fire and Orchestra are a pair of interesting handicap debutants, and they head the opposition.
Nordic Tiger has a great chance provided he copes with the drop back in trip. GOBLET OF FIRE and Quian are also appealing.

1st (1) (3/1 +0%) Queen Of Zafeen |
3/1(+0%) | (1) Queen Of Zafeen 3/1, Bred to be useful and made a winning start to her career in 10-runner minor event at Southwell (7.1f, 6/1) 34 days ago, all out to hold off promising newcomer. Open to improvement. Beat a subsequent winner at Southwell; can make bold bid to defy her penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (8/11 +39%) Kinako Mochi |
8/11(+39%) | (5) Kinako Mochi 8/11, Siyouni filly who made a promising start to her career when second in 10-runner maiden (9/2) at Kempton (6f) on debut in June, nearest finish. Not seen since but winners have emerged from that race and she's the one to beat with improvement likely over this longer trip. Not a strong maiden in which she was second but clearly up to winning races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/2 -50%) Spiritual Pursuit |
9/2(-50%) | (8) Spiritual Pursuit 9/2, Showed something like debut form after 8 months off when second of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 6/1) 10 days ago. Tried to make all at Wolverhampton and only succumbed to a Godolphin filly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 +0%) Heavenly Fire |
10/1(+0%) | (3) Heavenly Fire 10/1, 55,000 gns yearling, Harry Angel filly. Half-sister to winner up to 6f Hot Affair and smart winner up to 1m Flight Plan. Dam Italian 9f winner. Makes appeal on paper and Oisin Murphy is a positive jockey booking. 55,000gns yearling; likeable pedigree and Oisin Murphy an eyecatching booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (66/1 -32%) Charmly |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Charmly 66/1, 14,000 gns yearling, 85,000 gns 2-y-o, Land Force filly. Dam unraced out of 1000 Guineas Trial winner Kamarinskaya, herself half-sister to Phoenix Stakes/Prix Morny winner Fasliyev. Wears hood. 5,000gns 2yo; second foal; half-sister to 2m hurdle winner Baikal; hooded for debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (33/1 -136%) Hilltop |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (100/1 -52%) Phoenix Moon |
100/1(-52%) | (7) Phoenix Moon 100/1, Very green when well held in minor event at Bath (5.7f, firm, 14/1) on debut, missing break. Off 8 months. Up in trip. In rear throughout and finished last on firm ground at Bath in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (40/1 -186%) Pentacle |
40/1(-186%) | (6) Pentacle 40/1, 25,000 gns foal, 22,000 gns yearling, Zoustar filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 5f winner Carrie's Vision and French 13f winner Anything Else. Dam French 2-y-o 5f-7f winner. 22,000gns yearling; fifth foal; half-sister to winners Carrie's Vision (5f 2yo; RPR 76). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Queen Of Zafeen defeated a subsequent winner on her racecourse debut and she merits the utmost respect, despite this being tougher under a 7lb penalty. KINAKO MOCHI might not have been seen since filling the runner-up spot at Kempton on her first career start in June, but she is likely to have strengthened up in recent months and breeding suggests the step up in trip will suit. Spiritual Pursuit can chase the pair home, while Heavenly Fire warrants closer inspection ahead of her racecourse bow.
KINAKO MOCHI had 3 next-time-out winners behind when runner-up on her debut at Kempton back in June, so she has to be considered the one to beat, especially with the step up to 7f sure to suit. Queen of Zafeen was all out to hold off a fellow newcomer at Southwell but is open to improvement all the same, with Heavenly Fire clear pick of the debutantes before market clues.
Archie Watson's SPIRITUAL PURSUIT succcumbed only to a Godolphin filly (previous winner) at Wolverhampton and she can go one better.

1st (8) (6/4 +79%) King Of Brazil |
6/4(+79%) | (8) King Of Brazil 6/4, Modest form in bumpers but much better signs over hurdles, confirming debut promise when landing 2m novice at Warwick last March. However, he hasn't cut much ice in 3 starts over fences this season and hopes pinned on wind op sparking improvement. Wind surgery may prompt an improved chase effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3/1 +57%) It's Easy |
3/1(+57%) | (4) It's Easy 3/1, Fairly useful maiden chaser in France for David Cottin. However, only decent effort for this yard when keeping on for third at Lingfield (20f) on second start back and others preferred. 0-13 over fences but this drop in grade may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +31%) Generous Day |
9/2(+31%) | (3) Generous Day 9/2, Notched fifth career success over fences last autumn (20.4f) but below par both starts this term. However, given break ahead of this drop in class and yard had welcome winner over weekend. Veteran who drops in class off a reduced mark; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (22/1 -83%) Light Flicker |
22/1(-83%) | (5) Light Flicker 22/1, Encouraging effort when seventh of 19 in a Cheltenham handicap on his reappearance but there have not been any real positives to glean from his 3 subsequent starts. Veteran who is far from solid on this season's form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (10/3 +26%) Master Malcolm |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Master Malcolm 10/3, Runner-up in this last season before winning back-to-back over C&D. Stopped quickly both starts this term but return to this venue is a plus. Has form figures of 3211 over C&D; may stage a revival back at Huntingdon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (50/1 -25%) Deja Rouge |
50/1(-25%) | (9) Deja Rouge 50/1, Regressive form for Gordon Elliott and he has offered little on all 5 runs for current yard. First crack over fences. Chase debutant who has weak claims on hurdles form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KITSILANO opened his account under Rules when landing the spoils over hurdles at Clonmel in December. The seven-year-old has since joined the David Bridgwater yard and he's taken to follow up on this return to chasing. King Of Brazil lurks on a dangerous mark and could prove a potential fly in the ointment if a wind procedure unlocks some potential, while Generous Day may have been freshened up by a 72-day break.
GENEROUS DAY could be worth chancing dropping in class with his yard having had a welcome winner over the weekend. Friary Rock was too bad to be true last time so is expected to bounce back, while Master Malcolm could also return to form back at this venue.
Back at Huntingdon the percentage call goes to MASTER MALCOLM. Second choice is American Gerry.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BOSH has yet to conclusively prove his stamina at this trip, but the way in which he kept on to score over 6f at Chelmsford would suggest it might eke out further improvement from the son of Profitable. Similarly, Aljari ought to relish the greater test of stamina having rattled home for third at Kempton last time and is feared most, while Hieronymus appeals most of the remainder.
BOSH is in top form at present and can follow up his ready success at Chelmsford up only 2 lb. Hieronymus also arrives at the top of his game so is feared most ahead of Aljari.
This looks a bit trappy but it might be worth sticking with BOSH, who finished well when winning at Chelmsford 18 days ago.

Landed very short odds at Newcastle 3 weeks later and he's another who looks on his way to being a useful sort. Promising sort who is unbeaten in three runs; won readily at Newcastle latest; respected. |

5/4(-37%) | (1) Jango Baie 5/4, £170,000 buy after finishing runner-up sole start in Irish points in February and justified strong market support on hurdles debut at Ascot in November. Followed up in the Grade 1 Formby Novices' Hurdle at Aintree (16.5f, heavy) on Boxing Day and he sets a clear standard. 2-2 under rules, the latest success in Aintree Grade 1; top on ratings and still unexposed. |

8/1(+11%) | (3) Bugise Seagull 8/1, Stoutly bred sort cost £95,000 after finishing runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points. Made a successful debut under Rules at Catterick in November before demonstrating plenty of likeable qualities to follow up at Southwell (20.4f, soft) 53 days ago. Open to further improvement. 2-2 under rules; faces a harder task at this level but is open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 -60%) Diamond Ri |
4/1(-60%) | (2) Diamond Ri 4/1, Looked a good prospect when easily landing a Warwick bumper in the spring and confirmed the promise of his hurdling debut when scoring in a 13-runner novice event there last month. Every inch a useful performer in the making and he's respected. Warwick success took his record to 2-3; incurs 3lb penalty but should progress further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Impressive Warwick winner Diamond Ri and the unbeaten Handstands warrant consideration on the back of some assured performances, but the suspicion is that JANGO BAIE may have too much for these rivals. Nicky Henderson's charge won the Grade 1 Formby Novices' Hurdle going away at Aintree on Boxing Day and with this step up in trip promising to suit, he should be able to show his rivals a clean pair of heels, and may even confirm his Cheltenham Festival ticket.
JANGO BAIE found plenty under pressure to score in Grade 1 company last time and sets a clear standard in a race the yard used as a stepping stone for Shishkin 4 years ago. There's little to split the remaining trio in form terms, with all looking open to plenty of improvement, Handstands getting the fractional vote for second.
Unbeaten HANDSTANDS is taken to improve further and beat Jango Baie whose Grade 1 win came in somewhat fortunate circumstances.

1st (1) (11/2 -83%) Hatadora |
11/2(-83%) | (1) Hatadora 11/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in maiden (33/1) at Kempton (7f) 15 days ago, typically taking a strong hold. Switch to handicaps rates a plus but she does need to settle better. Outsider on all three starts (7f/1m Polytrack) and needs some improvement; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 -14%) Eccentric |
4/1(-14%) | (5) Eccentric 4/1, Dandy Man gelding who attracted support upped in trip/fitted with blinkers but offered little when last of 10 in handicap at Kempton (1m) 15 days ago. Remains early days with him at least and headgear quickly discarded as Murphy is booked also. 11-2 when blinkered for handicap debut at Kempton (1m, AW) 15 days ago, coming last of ten. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/10 +8%) Rising Force |
11/10(+8%) | (2) Rising Force 11/10, 7/4, creditable third of 6 in handicap at this course (10f, AW) 24 days ago, a little short of room final 50 yds and keeping on. Big player back down in trip. Mostly running well on AW; exposed but has far more solid form than nearly all the rest. |

4th (6) (15/2 +25%) Tres Chic |
15/2(+25%) | (6) Tres Chic 15/2, Winner at Leicester in October. 22/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, fifth of 6 in handicap at this course (10f, AW) 24 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time and drop back in trip may help here. Won off 1lb lower at Leicester (1m, soft) in October; has not shone on last three outings. |

5th (3) (13/2 -18%) Mr Influence |
13/2(-18%) | (3) Mr Influence 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 9 in minor event (40/1) at this course (7f, AW) 15 days ago. Makes handicap debut with a bit to prove on balance. Yard also saddle Hatadora. Backward steps last two starts, bleeding from the nose on first occasion; handicap debut. |

6th (4) (25/1 -56%) War Zone |
25/1(-56%) | (4) War Zone 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, last of 11 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 29 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Improvement required to see him play a lead role. 40-1 for handicap debut at Kempton (7f, Polytrack) four weeks ago and came last of 11. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
RISING FORCE's stamina appeared stretched when weakening into third over 1m2f here last time out. The Mehmas gelding should appreciate this return to a mile and he looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to get back on the scoresheet. Handicap debutant Mr Influence might be the one to give the selection most to think about, ahead of Hatadora and Eccentric.
RISING FORCE has essentially held his form well since opening his account at Chelmsford in September and looks the way to go with the return to 1m holding no fears. Hatadora on handicap debut may emerge as the chief threat.
Normally RISING FORCE would look vulnerable to an improver but it's not clear where the improvement is coming from among his rivals.

1st (1) (4/1 -20%) Barricane |
4/1(-20%) | (1) Barricane 4/1, Back to best when taking advantage of career-low mark at Uttoxeter in December. Not so good over fences since but merits plenty of respect returning to the smaller obstacles for in-form yard. Scored at Uttoxeter on most recent hurdles start and that form is solid; likely player. |

2nd (9) (5/1 +64%) Watchoutitscookie |
5/1(+64%) | (9) Watchoutitscookie 5/1, In good form last spring but failed to come on for this season's reappearance effort in October when finishing nearer last than first at Wincanton the following month. Others preferred. Has stamina to prove over this new trip on return from 11-week break. |

15/8(+46%) | (2) Spitalfield 15/8, Unexposed hurdler who has been steadily progressive over hurdles and has the scope for better still based on what he did in bumpers. Big chance if he gets the trip (bred to). Shapes as if this new trip is well worth exploring; not always fluent but may improve. |

4th (7) (16/1 -33%) Annie Day |
16/1(-33%) | (7) Annie Day 16/1, Goes well fresh but has produced a couple of uninspiring efforts since her reappearance win at Warwick. Needs a first-time visor to perk her up. Has gained her rules wins over 2m3f; something to prove back up in trip. |

5th (10) (150/1 -50%) Crookbarrow |

6th (6) (15/2 +32%) Uno Mas |
15/2(+32%) | (6) Uno Mas 15/2, Five-time winner in 2021 but very lightly raced since and has been out of form. Lots to prove. This return to a longer distance gives cause for optimism off a handy mark. |

|PU| (3) (7/2 -56%) Urban Soldier |
7/2(-56%) | (3) Urban Soldier 7/2, Modest form at best for Paul Nicholls but, having attracted support, shaped quite well when third in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster 55 days ago. Probably ahead of this mark, so he's well respected. Solid third at Doncaster on debut for new stable; should build on that effort; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (40/1 -433%) Espinator |
40/1(-433%) | (4) Espinator 40/1, A three-time hurdles winner in 2021 but off for 17 months since posting a good second in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (26.5f). Handily weighted if fully tuned up on his comeback run. Absent since finishing second at Newton Abbot in September 2022; market helpful. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Urban Soldier arrives on the back of a solid third at Doncaster, but he will need to improve on his jumping if he is to go two places better. Preference is for SPITALFIELD, who gives the impression that the step up to this trip can suit and off 1lb lower than when finishing fourth over an extended 2m2f at Market Rasen, he can make a bold bid for the gold medal. Barricane is capable of winning a race of this nature if on a going day, but inconsistency continues to be the main concern with him.
SPITALFIELD is steadily going in the right direction and he's bred to get the longer trip, so a chance is taken on him to open his account over hurdles. Urban Soldier is a big threat on the back of a positive start for his new yard and Barricane can't be dismissed returning to hurdling.
Unexposed URBAN SOLDIER (nap) is taken to build on his solid Doncaster effort and get off the mark. Spitalfield is second choice.

2nd (2) (15/2 -200%) Baileys Warrior |
15/2(-200%) | (2) Baileys Warrior 15/2, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. However, arrives in good form, going close after just 7 days off when second of 10 in handicap (4/1) at Kempton (16f) 12 days ago. Can be thereabouts once more. 0-23 but she's been knocking on the door in 2m handicaps and is a key player. |

5/2(+17%) | (6) Foinix 5/2, Has returned to form on his last 2 starts, bumping into a progressive type when second of 7 in handicap (14/1) at this C&D 6 days ago. Could be set to take advantage of his current mark. Unexposed at staying trips and was a good second over C&D last time; interesting contender. |

4th (5) (3/1 -9%) New York Bay |
3/1(-9%) | (5) New York Bay 3/1, Made it back-to-back wins when scoring at Chelmsford City (13.3f) in January. Didn't give his running switched to front-running tactics when sixth of 8 in handicap at the same C&D 3 weeks ago, but no surprise to see him bounce back. Disappointing in hat-trick bid at Chelmsford and has something to prove again after that. |

5th (1) (5/1 +29%) Where's Tom |
5/1(+29%) | (1) Where's Tom 5/1, Sole success on Flat came at this course back in 2020. Left behind a couple of lesser efforts when fifth of 12 in handicap at this course (12f, 5/1) 47 days ago. Can give his running again back up in trip. Stays this trip and was a fair fifth here last time but his last win was four years ago. |

6th (3) (18/1 -157%) Triple Nickle |
18/1(-157%) | (3) Triple Nickle 18/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. Ran best race since returning from a lengthy absence when third of 10 in handicap (40/1) at Kempton (16f) 12 days ago. Lurks on a dangerous mark if backing up her latest effort. Returned to form with a third at Kempton and has claims if she can back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (33/1 -136%) Lilla Cross |
33/1(-136%) | (7) Lilla Cross 33/1, Upped in distance, ran best race so far when third of 12 in handicap (80/1) at this C&D 82 days ago. Needs to find more again. Inconsistent maiden but she was placed at a big price over C&D last time; not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BAILEYS WARRIOR posted yet another creditable effort in defeat when a close-up second at Kempton in late January and a 1lb rise in the handicap doesn't appear insurmountable. A similar profile is displayed by fellow in-form rival Foinix, who looks an obvious danger racing off the same mark as his recent runner-up effort over C&D. New York Bay will need to settle better to see out this trip, so Triple Nickle may emerge as a bigger threat.
Having dropped in the weights, FOINIX has returned to his best when runner-up on his last 2 starts, finding only one who was completing a 4-timer too strong at this C&D 6 days ago, so he could be ready to return to winning ways. Baileys Warrior again went close at Kempton last time and can give another good account, with New York Bay also considered.
Baileys Warrior is respected but the vote goes to FOINIX, who was an eyecatching second behind a major improver over C&D last week.

16/1(+0%) | (6) Crystal Mer 16/1, Run to a fair level in bumpers but below that level in a trio of starts over timber. Tries longer trip on switch to handicapping. Bumper 2nd; heavy defeats as hurdler; this longer trip on handicap might unlock something. |

8th (12) (50/1 -127%) Pep Talking |
50/1(-127%) | (12) Pep Talking 50/1, Easily beat only other finisher second outing in points but no impact in 3 starts over timber and looks a longer-term prospect. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Small-field point win; on evidence under rules, needs a transformation on handicap debut. |

12/1(-9%) | (1) Jeteye 12/1, Far from disgraced when seventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Newcastle (16.9f, good to soft) 47 days ago and may do better now sent handicapping. Could be a different proposition now handicapping and up in trip, so needs a market check. |

|PU| (3) (15/2 +17%) Mrs Grimley |
15/2(+17%) | (3) Mrs Grimley 15/2, Fair bumper winner who has shown similar form over hurdles, opening her account in Ffos Las novice last winter. Mixed bag subsequently though, clearly not 100% when pulled up at Doncaster latest. Tongue strap/cheekpieces now applied. Won a novice hurdle (2m, heavy) last January; backward steps this season and aids go on. |

20/1(-67%) | (10) Molly's Third Man 20/1, Comfortably held in 2 bumpers in the spring and similar story in trio of outings over hurdles. |PU| (4) (50/1 -52%) Knot On Time |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Knot On Time 50/1, Fair ex-Irish hurdler/chaser for Paul Nolan who was well held back over hurdles following a monster absence at Warwick in November. Wasn't done with when falling 3 out at Hereford (19.7f) later that month but he remains difficult to assess. 1124 days off before this term; soundly beaten on return and off pace when falling latest. |

|PU| (8) (66/1 -313%) Jamaicaine |
66/1(-313%) | (8) Jamaicaine 66/1, Acquitted herself well on hurdles bow at Sedgefield last February but offered little in a couple of outings this season and makes limited appeal on handicap debut. Handicap debutante in famous colours but still not an enticing profile; market can guide. |

|PU| (14) (66/1 -100%) Den The Diva |
66/1(-100%) | (14) Den The Diva 66/1, Saddle slipped early on latest start but finished well held on handicap debut at Ludlow previously and looks up against it. Showed only a little ability, including in two handicaps; saddle slipped latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HERMES LE GRIS was having his first start for this stable when falling two from home at Southwell last week and he can make a solid fist of trying to atone for that mishap off the same mark. Provided the application of a tongue-tie and cheekpieces has the desired effect, Mrs Grimley has the ability to at least hit the frame in a race of this nature, while Crossbeau also rates as shortlist material.
Preference is for HERMES LE GRIS, who was in control when departing 2 out at Southwell last week and is able to race off the same mark here. Crossbeau was also unfortunate not to score at Chepstow last time and looks the obvious danger, whilst Mattie Ross may be the pick of several interesting handicap debutants.
With so few solid recommendations among the rest, this may be best left to last week's unlucky pair HERMES LE GRIS and Crossbeau.

8th (3) (15/8 +16%) Enough Already |
15/8(+16%) | (3) Enough Already 15/8, Course winner in November who posted good second of 7 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 12 days ago, running on. Should go well again. Stays 1m2f and was producing his best work late when just denied over this far at Kempton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ENOUGH ALREADY won over this course and distance from a 4lb lower mark last May and, with Oisin Murphy an eye-catching jockey booking, everything is in place for another bold showing from the eight-year-old after a near miss at Kempton 12 days ago. Just a short head separated Arctician (second) and Sandy Paradise (third) when they took the minor honours in a 7f handicap here last month and they can fill similar roles here, with this longer trip not expected to be an issue.
DAYMAN has been shaping up well of late and, with a strong pace forecast, he's taken to get off the mark for his current connections. In-form pair Arctician and Enough Already head the dangers.
This should be truly run and it could be the day when everything drops right for DAYMAN. Second choice is Arctician.

Fourth of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 13/2) 5 days ago, needing stiffer test. Close second over C&D in December, but didn't build on it next time; losing run up to 15. |

9th (11) (25/1 -39%) Furzig |
25/1(-39%) | (11) Furzig 25/1, Course winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 22/1, good 1¼ lengths second of 11 to Queen of Ipanema in handicap at Southwell (11f) 21 days ago, running on. Second behind Queen Of Ipanema last time with three of these behind; each-way claims. |

10th (5) (125/1 -25%) Nova Legend |
125/1(-25%) | (5) Nova Legend 125/1, Won at Ffos Las in August 2022 but not seen since a below-par run at Haydock in September of that year (final start for James Ferguson). A watching brief has to be the percentage call. Will do well to win a race like this on stable debut after 17 months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Skye Breeze justified favouritism on his return to the all-weather at Southwell last month following a run on turf at Catterick in October. However, a 6lb rise for that success may leave him vulnerable for win purposes on this occasion and the vote goes to BERAZ. Stepping back up in trip appears to be the right move based on his fourth here on New Year's Day, while others to consider include Queen Of Ipanema and Valsad.
QUEEN OF IPANEMA had a few of these rivals in behind her when scoring over 11f at Southwell last month. Geroge Boughey's filly wasn't seen to best effect in a race which tested speed at Wolverhampton last Saturday and is taken to resume winning ways now stepping back up to 1½m (3-3 at trip coming into this). Beraz, Aqwaam and Tenerife Sunshine head the dangers in a competitive opener.
This can go to BERAZ (nap) whose third in the November Handicap was even better than it looked. His latest fourth was another fine run.

1st (1) (4/1 -60%) Dunskay |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Dunskay 4/1, Related to a couple of useful types and looked above average when landing an Exeter bumper first time out, impressing with how he went through the race. Possibly found much less testing conditions against him in a listed event at Ascot a month later so is worth another chance. Sets the standard back down in class, assuming he returns to the form of Exeter debut win. |

DUNSKAY was outclassed in a Listed bumper at Ascot in December, having made a winning start to his career at Exeter the time before. The booking of Harry Cobden catches the eye and the five-year-old may prove capable of defying a 7lb penalty. Blue Las is a half-sister to a Listed-placed hurdler and she has to be of interest along with Shy Love, a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Brandy Love, and Jimmyjeroo.
DUNSKAY looked a good prospect when scoring at Exeter on debut and with his subsequent effort in a listed race easy enough to put a line through, Ben Pauling's 5-y-o is fancied to resume his progress. Absolutely Fine, Big Ginge and Fergal O'Brien's pair Shy Love and Ol' Man Brando rate as likely dangers before the benefit of market clues.
Dunskay sets the standard, while BLUE LAS, Shy Love, Ol' Man Brando and Big Ginge are very interesting newcomers.

There is very little to split the likes of Level Up (winner), Night On Earth (second) and HARB (third) based on a recent clash over C&D. However, the last-named may be able to turn around the form of last month's encounter with his old rivals on the revised terms. A previous course and distance winner off a 3lb higher mark, the selection tends to go well for Shane Kelly and the partnership can provide a bit of value in a wide-open sprint handicap.
Claims can be made for most and with that in mind it could pay to take a chance on RECON MISSION. He lost all chance at the start when behind a few of these over C&D 24 days ago and, having been given a chance by the handicapper, a better showing can be anticipated from a handy draw/re-united with Tom Marquand. Night On Earth and Harb head up the dangers.
Level Up got the better of NIGHT ON EARTH here last month but the selection could be helped here by an uncontested lead.

EXPLORERS WAY returned to winning ways over C&D on his latest start and a 2lb rise is unlikely to stop him from doubling up in what appears to be a more than winnable contest on paper. Gold Aura boasts a consistent level of form and is likely to be in the mix on her return to handicap company, with Rise Hall appealing most of the remainder.
EXPLORERS WAY gained his first success in excess of 1m when scoring over C&D last month and Brian Ellison's gelding looks capable of following up after a minimal rise in the weights. Masterpainter made the pdoium over 1m here last time and can go well again, with Gold Aura also worth a market check returning to handicap company.
Preference is for MASTERPAINTER whose pedigree suggests he is well worth another go over a longer trip.

ROYAL PROSPECT won a classified event over C&D on his penultimate start before running with plenty of credit back in a handicap here when only beaten a length into second. Despite being 4lb higher, the nine-year-old is taken to continue in this vein of form. Beylerbeyi went close here on his most recent start and has to enter the reckoning along with Tees George.
BEYLERBEYI is unexposed for his current yard and the form of his latest C&D second is working out very well, so he's worth chancing to go one better at the possible expense of last-time-out winner Tees George, Royal Prospect and Spartan Fighter are also worth considering.
Both BEYLERBEYI and Royal Prospect chased home triple subsequent winners on their last starts. The former races off the same mark.

First run for yard after leaving Ed Dunlop (16,000 gns). Won twice at Bath for Ed Dunlop last August; stable debut after five months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HARVANNA should appreciate this drop in trip after weakening late on over 6f here last month and, off 1lb lower, Karl Burke's speedster rates as the one to side with. Torvar fairly bolted up over 5f at Chelmsford most recently, but he finds himself on a career-high mark and that asks a question of him, while Balon D'or's official rating continues to fall and he's another to keep an eye on.
A trappy sprint in which preference is for HARVANNA, who was progressive in a handful of starts on turf last year and shaped very well on return/handicap debut when fourth here over 6f on New Year's Day. She can get the better of Torvar, who ran out an impressive winner at Chelmsford last month, with Bint Alfella rounding off the shortlist now heading down the handicap route.
This can go to HARVANNA who only faded late on when returning from 173 days off in a Class 2 handicap over 6f here last month.

(3) (9/2 +0%)9/2(+0%) | (3) Likeashadow 9/2, C&D winner. 3/1, good second of 12 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 12 days ago. Shortlist material. The most exposed in the field, but he likes it here; can't be left out of calculations. |

Solar Bentley |
(5) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (5) Solar Bentley 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 18/1) 12 days ago, inadequate test. May well do better and worthy of consideration. Out of the frame in all four starts; extra furlong should suit, but more needed. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LIKEASHADOW finished an agonisingly close second over 7f at this track last month and, having been nudged up just 1lb, he can make his presence felt over the mile this time around. The class-dropping Good Morning Alex rates as the main danger to the selection having finished an admirable third here latest, while this drop back to a mile promises to suit Due Consideration, who was caught late on over 1m2f here in September.
NIGHT SAFARI has been gelded since last seen and he's bred to be better than a mark of 65, so he's worth taking a chance on against mostly more exposed rivals. Likeashadow arrives in top form, so he's an obvious danger, while Good Morning Alex can't be dismissed.
The vote goes to GOOD MORNING ALEX who got outpaced in his hat-trck bid here last time, but this may be run more to suit him.

Queen Of Pop |
(10) (200/1 -60%)200/1(-60%) | (10) Queen Of Pop 200/1, Twice-raced filly. Ninth of 10 in minor event (150/1) at this course (7.1f) 6 days ago. Up against it. Beat one rival in each of her first two starts here; may show more once handicapped. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Angelica Catalani arguably sets the standard on her latest C&D fifth, but the daughter of Mondialiste could prove vulnerable to one of the debutants. MEMORIES MAKER, a half-brother to Group 3 winner Class Is Class, tops the bill. Charlie Johnston's gelding ticks plenty of the right boxes and he could have too much class for these rivals. Any market support for fellow newcomer More Than A Feelin would be interesting.
This may go to one of the newcomers and MEMORIES MAKER is much respected on his racecourse bow. Strive can also make his presence felt.
This can go to one of the newcomers in the shape of MEMORIES MAKER. The stable has done well with its debutants in the last few weeks.

Latin Five |
(6) (10/1 +50%)10/1(+50%) | (6) Latin Five 10/1, Gained reward for consistency when winning at Ripon in August and produced another creditable effort when second of 12 in C&D handicap when last seen in September. Likely contender. Beaten a neck over C&D when last seen, but his record fresh raises serious doubts. |

Sugar Hill Babe |
(5) (18/1 -13%)18/1(-13%) | (5) Sugar Hill Babe 18/1, Winner at Bath in August. 6/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Southwell (5f). Off 121 days. Risky proposition at present. 1-18; has run well after a similar break, but others are more convincing. |

Mews House |
(3) (25/1 +24%)25/1(+24%) | (3) Mews House 25/1, 7/1, first run since leaving Rebecca Menzies when fourth of 5 in handicap at Hamilton (5f, firm). Off 7 months. Something to find on form. Front-runner who returns from eight months off; has run well fresh, but others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Water Of Leith made the most of a career-low mark when scything through the field to score at Southwell in December. However, a 5lb rise in the handicap may leave Jim Goldie's charge vulnerable, with November C&D winner CRYPTO QUEST edging the vote. The son of Profitable is only 1lb higher in the ratings and is taken to make his stable bow a winning one. Sixcor should also get involved if breaking better.
C&D winner URBAN DANDY has dropped to a handy mark and was unlucky not to finish much closer here last week. He gets the nod in the finale. Water of Leith and Latin Five also enter calculations.
The vote goes to WATER OF LEITH who returned to winning form at Southwell last time. He may again get the solid pace he needs.
Ths is the racecard key.
