|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Coko Beach |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Coko Beach 11/2, Smart chaser. C&D winner. Fourteenth of 18 in handicap chase (50/1) at Gowran (25f, soft) 11 days ago. Sort to bounce back. Won this last year on testing ground, should be thereabouts returned to this discipline. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Stealthy Tom |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Stealthy Tom 4/1, Useful chaser. C&D winner. 10/3, very good second of 13 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, good to soft) 51 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Back up in trip and in the mix. C&D winner, shaped well over hurdles on latest, testing ground would be a big concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Chemical Energy |
13/2(+35%) | (11) Chemical Energy 13/2, Useful chaser. Six wins from 21 NH runs. Only twelfth of 15 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (29.2f, good to soft) 52 days ago. Sets the benchmark at these weights in these calmer waters. Fine effort in the Munster National, struggled on soft at Cheltenham, similar ground here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() The Goffer |
7/2(+46%) | (7) The Goffer 7/2, Useful chaser. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 12/1, creditable seventh of 15 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (29.2f, good to soft) 52 days ago. One to consider. Ran okay on first try in this sphere at Cheltenham, each-way chance if track dries out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Three By Two |
9/1(-100%) | (8) Three By Two 9/1, Fairly useful chaser. C&D winner. Latest win in chase at Wexford in July. 28/1, good fifth of 15 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (29.2f, good to soft) 52 days ago. Can make her presence felt. Excellent efforts on last two starts including over these fences, should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) ![]() Enjoy D'allen |
11/1(+31%) | (12) Enjoy D'allen 11/1, Twenty four runs since last win in 2021. Fifth of 8 in handicap chase (14/1) at this course (22.7f, heavy) 22 days ago. Unreliable individual. No win since January 2021, form figures of 56544 over the banks, more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Knockiel Synge |
28/1(-273%) | (5) Knockiel Synge 28/1, Fair chaser. C&D winner. Winner in chase here in April. Close up when unseated rider 15th in minor event chase (8/1) at this course (24.4f, soft), going with enthusiasm. Off 9 months but not ruled out. C&D winner in a hunter chase, finished second in a point when last seen, can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Gevrey |
17/2(+39%) | (3) Gevrey 17/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Tenth of 18 in handicap chase (66/1) at Navan (24.2f, good to soft) 78 days ago. Lost form since Munster National win, beaten 55l latest, banks need to spark a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (16) ![]() Western Comandor |
50/1(+60%) | (16) Western Comandor 50/1, One win from 23 NH runs. Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. Fourth of 12 in handicap chase at Tramore (22.8f, heavy, 25/1) 33 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Is 0-11 in chases, beaten 40l off 90 in a handicap latest, well beaten sole banks start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (15) ![]() Well Buoy |
25/1(-14%) | (15) Well Buoy 25/1, Once-raced maiden. 12/1, second of 14 in bumper at Wexford (16.7f, good to soft) on NH debut. Off 6 months. Makes chase debut. First run for yard after leaving David Harry Kelly. No forlorn hope. Point winner and placed in a bumper on good, lacks experience and ground a worry, watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) ![]() Born By The Sea |
33/1(+34%) | (9) Born By The Sea 33/1, Useful hurdler. Twenty runs since last win in 2021. Below form tenth of 20 in handicap chase (12/1) at Galway (22.5f, soft). Off 6 months. Talented on his day but pulled up on his last two starts in points, watch on banks debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) ![]() I A Connect |
80/1(+20%) | (4) I A Connect 80/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 66/1, first run since leaving Gordon Elliott when respectable sixth of 12 in handicap hurdle at this course (19f, heavy) 34 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Out of form, well beaten over hurdles latest, watch in first time tongue tie on banks bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) ![]() Cavalry Master |
80/1(-21%) | (10) Cavalry Master 80/1, Unreliable sort. Eleven runs since last win in 2021. 22/1, fell in handicap chase at Killarney (26f, good to soft). Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving Gordon Elliott. Beaten 20l on his first run for Peter Maher in a point last month, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) ![]() Handsworth |
100/1(+0%) | (13) Handsworth 100/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Eleventh of 19 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (26f, soft, 100/1) 9 days ago. Has struggled since return from a long layoff, hard to make a case for on banks debut. |
Gordon Elliott's COKO BEACH ought to be a leading contender. He travelled notably well in the prestigious Velka Pardubicka in October before unseating four out when still holding every chance. He couldn't land a blow when last seen in the Thyestes, but is the highest rated here. Furthermore, he won this race by six lengths last year. Stealthy Tom landed the previous renewal and looks threatening after a third place over this course in November. Vanillier took sixth then and could get closer in blinkers. Chemical Energy, a stablemate of Coko Beach, is unexposed in this discipline and could feature at the business end.
Gordon Elliott's CHEMICAL ENERGY holds excellent claims at these weights so is fancied to resume winning ways at the chief expense of C&D scorer Stealthy Tom. The Goffer and Coko Beach are other Eilliott inmates that can have a say in this open contest.
Last year's winner COKO BEACH will find this easier than the races he's been contesting recently and he gets the nod on ground he likes

1st (7) ![]() Ideallko |
5/2(+0%) | (7) Ideallko 5/2, Winner of handicap chases at Ffos Las and Plumpton during early stages of last season and notched third success over fences at Windsor on New Year's Eve. Followed up back hurdling at Warwick recently and he has to be feared now returned to the larger obstacles. In-form 7yo who has won over fences and hurdles at Warwick this winter; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Pitwood Road |
4/1(+50%) | (3) Pitwood Road 4/1, Bumper/hurdles winner and also successful sole start between the flags. Best effort yet in this sphere when fourth of 14 in a 25f Thurles handicap in December but this Irish raider will need to improve if she's to open her chase account. Irish mare; drops back in trip after running well over 3m1f in December; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Golden De Coeur |
9/2(+0%) | (1) Golden De Coeur 9/2, Fair hurdler form and has left his inauspicious chase debut form well behind the last twice, latterly finding just one too good at Hereford (21f, good to soft). The winner didn't do much for the form when pulled up next time but this 9-y-o at least appears to be going the right way over fences. 0-13 under rules but comes here after good second at Hereford last month; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Zestful Hope |
11/2(-65%) | (4) Zestful Hope 11/2, Fair handicap hurdler/chaser who, fitted with cheekpieces, went agonisingly close to getting off the mark in this sphere at Uttoxeter in November. Delivered another good shift at Hereford recently and it's not hard to envisage this 8-y-o playing a leading role. 0-10 over fences but placed three consecutive times since cheekpieces were added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Fever Dream |
9/2(+40%) | (6) Fever Dream 9/2, Winner over hurdles at Perth last summer and followed that with a couple of respectable efforts in defeat. Yet to trouble the judge in this sphere and while his latest third at Hereford was a creditable effort, he has a fair bit to find with Golden de Coeur on that evidence. Seemingly back in good nick when third at Hereford last month; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() West Warhorse |
11/1(+31%) | (2) West Warhorse 11/1, Fair winning hurdler but below par on return here in October and subsequent chase debut at Sedgefield wasn't particularly inspiring. Now tried in a tongue strap. Free-goer who lacked fluency when safely held on chasing debut; others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Rajjamataz |
15/2(-50%) | (5) Rajjamataz 15/2, Off the mark over fences at Fontwell last May and followed that with a couple of decent efforts in defeat. Didn't find much when it came to the crunch on his reappearance at Uttoxeter in November but he is at least entitled to come on for that run. Not seen since finishing tired ten weeks ago but earlier form makes him of interest. |
IDEALLKO arrives seeking a hat-trick having scored at Warwick on New Year's Eve before switching back to hurdles at the same venue last month. He won with more in hand on the first occasion, so a return to the larger obstacles might unlock further progression. Rajjamataz can be forgiven his latest effort at Uttoxeter, while Golden De Coeur's recent second at Hereford gives him every chance of being in the mix.
ZESTFUL HOPE has been knocking on the door in recent months and shades preference ahead of the hat-trick seeking Ideallko. It's by no means a two-horse race, though, with Golden de Coeur seemingly getting the hang of things over fences and Rajjamataz likely to strip fitter following his reappearance spin at Uttoxeter.
The suggestion is Irish mare PITWOOD ROAD, who drops back in trip after running well for a long way over 3m1f in December.

1st (1) ![]() More Coko |
2/9(+22%) | (1) More Coko 2/9, Winner of a bumper/maiden hurdle at Tramore. Looks yet another smart prospect for his top stable and hard to beat again. Mullins runner who is two from two, both wins at Tramore; the form pick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Canunclecani |
50/1(-127%) | (5) Canunclecani 50/1, Made frame all 3 starts in Irish points and showed more than first time up under Rules when fifth in a 20.5f Ayr novice 32 days ago. A good deal more will be needed to trouble More Coko, though. Likely to find handicaps more suitable shortly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Throatlash |
4/1(+20%) | (7) Throatlash 4/1, £30,000 buy after winning an Irish point in October and ran to a fair level when second of 12 on his C&D hurdle debut (soft) in December. Should go well again. Irish point winner; beat all bar the form choice in C&D novice hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Bo Cruz |
150/1(-88%) | (3) Bo Cruz 150/1, Runner-up on his completed start in Irish points but well beaten in 2 hurdles this winter. Comfortably held in both rules outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Blakey Boy |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Blakey Boy 66/1, Has shown ability in 2 bumpers and a maiden hurdle but the chances are he won't be of real interest until handicapping. Has regressed from debut effort; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Buzz Iceclear |
125/1(-279%) | (4) Buzz Iceclear 125/1, Point recruit who was 14 lengths behind the reopposing Zephlyn when third in 2m Newcastle maiden on hurdle debut. Likely more one for the longer term. Modest third, behind Zephlyn, at Newcastle on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Inta |
66/1(-136%) | (9) Inta 66/1, £30,000 buy after finishing third in an Irish point in May 2023. It's taken a while to get her back to the track and probably best watched on this hurdle debut after wind surgery. Absent since finishing third in Irish point in May 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Zephlyn |
14/1(-17%) | (8) Zephlyn 14/1, Fair on the Flat. Best run over hurdles when second of 9 in 2m Newcastle maiden ago, with the reopposing Buzz Iceclear 14 lengths back in third. More will be needed to trouble the favourite here. Ended up with too much to do at Newcastle last time; place claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) ![]() King Coconut |
14/1(-17%) | (6) King Coconut 14/1, €25,000 Yeats gelding. Closely related to fairly useful hurdler Presenting Doyen and half-brother to bumper winner Barranco. Newcomer from a good stable who needs checking out in the betting. 25,000euros 3yo; sibling to two winners; sole newcomer in the field. |
MORE COKO made a good impression when making a victorious debut over hurdles at Tramore last month and is likely to have plenty of improvement in him. Willie Mullins' five-year-old carries a 7lb penalty. but that is unlikely to stop him from proving very difficult to beat again. Point-to-point winner Throatlash shaped with promise when second on his Rules debut here in December and is likely to enter the reckoning. Any market confidence behind newcomer King Coconut would be interesting.
It's very hard to see past Willie Mullins raider MORE COKO who can make it 3-3. December's C&D runner-up Throatlash is the obvious one to follow him home unless the betting speaks in the favour of Nicky Richards newcomer King Coconut.
Assuming his Tramore form is transferred to Carlisle, MORE COKO holds the best chance. Throatlash is feared most.

1st (7) ![]() Theonewedreamof |
15/8(+66%) | (7) Theonewedreamof 15/8, Latest win in chase at Tipperary in July. Fair winner at 14f on flat. Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap chase (11/4) at Fairyhouse (21f, soft) 18 days ago. Yard in good form. Not taken lightly. Versatile sort, has shaped ok the last twice; claims if she can brush up her jumping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Sainte Dona |
13/2(+35%) | (4) Sainte Dona 13/2, Pulled up in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (17.1f, soft, 15/2) 9 days ago, tailed off when pulled up 3 out. Up in trip. Has work to do. Is 1-9 over fences, didn't go with much enthusiasm on latest, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Music Of Tara |
7/2(-87%) | (2) Music Of Tara 7/2, First run since leaving Henry De Bromhead when winning 19-runner handicap hurdle at Navan (20f, soft) 16 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase and needs considering. Is 1-5 over fences, won over hurdles at Navan on latest, right-handed track a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Tankardstown Diva |
12/1(+40%) | (8) Tankardstown Diva 12/1, Fair winner at 22f over hurdles. Eighth of 9 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (21f, soft, 7/1) 18 days ago. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. 0-2 over fences, has won at this trip over timber but testing conditions may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Splashing Out |
5/1(-43%) | (5) Splashing Out 5/1, Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Promising second of 11 in novice chase (3/1) at Tramore (15.5f, heavy) 33 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap chase debut. Should improve. Player. Best effort to date over fences on latest, steps up markedly in trip, chance if she stays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Sea Aster |
6/1(+25%) | (6) Sea Aster 6/1, 11/1, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap chase at Down Royal (24f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Won on good ground at Clonmel, jumping not great last three starts, testing ground a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Queen Jane |
16/1(+0%) | (1) Queen Jane 16/1, 14/1, fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (20f, good) 64 days ago. Uphill task. Is 2-8 over fences, no win since March 2023, well beaten both starts this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) ![]() Western Zara |
7/1(+0%) | (3) Western Zara 7/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Respectable eleventh of 18 in handicap hurdle at Navan (25f, good to soft, 16/1) 50 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Considered. 1-9 in chases, no win since March 2022, has run well here before, can make presence felt. |
MUSIC OF TARA made a bright start to life with Gordon Elliott when winning a valuable handicap hurdle in Navan. After that victory, Elliott pinpointed a Listed contest at Huntingdon, which she holds an entry for later in the week. That shows the trajectory she is on, so she looks the one to beat in this mares' handicap chase. Theonewedreamof competes off a lovely light weight with Conor Stone-Walsh's 5lb claim factored in and has her chance. This is a drop in class for Queen Jane and it might spark her back into form. Sea Aster could build upon a Down Royal fourth, while Splashing Out's best form is over shorter trips.
SPLASHING OUT looks the way to go now stepping into handicap company on the back of a promising Tramore second last time out. The handily-weighted Theonewedreamof could emerge as the main danger, with Sea Aster also well in the mix if on her A-game.
Marginal preference is for WESTERN ZARA. She will stay, she has run well here before and she handles heavy ground.

1st (2) ![]() Finn Lough |
6/1(-50%) | (2) Finn Lough 6/1, Got off the mark in 3m handicap chase at Doncaster in December but pulled up early there 10 days ago after a bad mistake. Handily weighted if getting back on track. Pulled up soon after early jumping error last time; had solid chasing record beforehand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Martalmix'jac |
11/2(-22%) | (8) Martalmix'jac 11/2, Back on song when second of 11 in handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, soft) 47 days ago. Much respected off the same mark now back up in trip. Back in good form over 2m4f in December; probably worth another crack at 3m; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Ali Star Bert |
10/1(+0%) | (6) Ali Star Bert 10/1, Took this 12 months ago but pulled up in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) 34 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Very inconsistent nowadays but won this race off today's mark last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Fairlawn Flyer |
14/1(+13%) | (5) Fairlawn Flyer 14/1, A fair 25f chase winner but he came in last of 7 in handicap chase at Chepstow (26.2f, heavy) 29 days ago. Much more is required. Ran well in December, after a long absence, but well beaten since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Myfanwy's Magic |
9/1(0%) | (3) Myfanwy's Magic 9/1, A fair maiden hurdler but pulled up in handicap chase (7/2) at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) on his debut over fences 34 days ago. Has something to prove. Second over hurdles on seasonal debut; pulled up on chase debut since but still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Prince Cleni |
6/5(+52%) | (7) Prince Cleni 6/5, A 3-time C&D winner, latest in January, and he comes here on the back of a good second of 11 in handicap chase at Doncaster (24f, good to soft) 10 days ago, closing all way to line. Merits serious consideration nudged up 1 lb. Gained all three wins over C&D, the latest on New Year's Day; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Balkardy |
16/1(-60%) | (1) Balkardy 16/1, Landed handicap chase at Stratford (22.6f) in October and generally respectable efforts since over hurdles and fences, seventh in 3m Ffos Las handicap hurdle 23 days ago. No forlorn hope. Won in October, after a break, but subsequent form is underwhelming; too unreliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Flemen's Tipple |
18/1(-50%) | (9) Flemen's Tipple 18/1, Finally opened his account in 3m chasse at Huntingdon but only fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Fakenham (23.4f, soft) 33 days ago. Not taken lightly returned to this sphere if back on his A-game. Won modest chase last spring but has very mixed record over last year or so. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Slievegar |
18/1(-29%) | (4) Slievegar 18/1, Multiple point winner who bagged a small-field Kelso hunter in May 2023. Winless between the flags since though and pulled up on yard debut in 2m4f handicap at Huntingdon last month. Five point wins; pulled up on recent rules return and tricky to weigh up at present. |
PRINCE CLENI was arguably inconvenienced by the low sun taking out all the fences in the home straight when beaten a neck at Doncaster in his attempt to back up his C&D victory on New Year's Day. Christian Williams' gelding can go one better at the expense of Finn Lough, who was pulled up early in that contest on Town Moor after a bad mistake. The six-year-old had won there prior to that and could easily bounce back. Martalmix'jac is entitled to respect on his second at Ludlow.
PRINCE CLENI arrives at the top of his game so this three-time C&D scorer looks the way to go at the chief expense of Martalmix'jac who figures on a handy mark on the back of his resurgent Ludlow second last time out. Finn Lough can also have a say at these weights if shrugging off a lesser effort at Doncaster.
He didn't get far at Doncaster last time but FINN LOUGH remains only 3lb higher than when winning a 0-130 contest there two starts ago.

1st (2) ![]() Galunggung |
7/4(-17%) | (2) Galunggung 7/4, Progressive, dual hurdles winner who made perfect start over fences when winning 4-runner handicap at Perth last spring. Arguably unlucky not to follow up next time and recently posted his best effort yet in this sphere when collared close home by an in-form rival at Ayr (16.5f, soft). Big player. Clear second at Ayr last time, posting best effort since Perth success early in season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Bleu D'enfer |
7/4(-17%) | (4) Bleu D'enfer 7/4, Winner of an Ayr maiden hurdle last February and placed on 4 of his 8 starts over fences, including when just touched off in a 17.3f Clonmel maiden chase in December. Wasn't disgraced when fourth over 2¾m at Fairyhouse next time and will be a threat granted a clean round of jumping. 0-8 in this sphere but has respectable form, including close second on penultimate run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Great Pepper |
4/1(+50%) | (3) Great Pepper 4/1, Dual point winner who showed a good attitude when landing first 2 starts over hurdles last term before struggling in Grade 2/listed company at around 3m. Has undergone a wind op since latest start and perhaps switch to fences will have a positive effect but this drop back in trip may not be ideal. Had wind surgery since last run; could revive on chase/handicap debut; drops in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Barrabooka |
15/2(+0%) | (5) Barrabooka 15/2, Confirmed promise of hurdling debut when landing an 8-runner Wetherby novice (2m, heavy) on penultimate start. However, he ran poorly under a penalty at Doncaster last time and while this point winner could make up into a better chaser, Galunggung appears to be the stable first-string. Record is 2-4; form dipped last time but may do better still; should take to chasing. |

5th (6) ![]() Chumlee |
50/1(+0%) | (6) Chumlee 50/1, Progressive initially from a low base in handicaps, gaining second career success at Newcastle last February. Absent since pulled up at Hexham 8 months ago, though, and he's a long way out of the weights here. Modest hurdler; very stiff task from well out of the weights on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Benson |
7/1(+13%) | (1) Benson 7/1, Healthy strike rate over hurdles (6-26) but hasn't made much of an impact in 2 starts over fences to date and ran poorly in a Musselburgh handicap hurdle on New Year's Day. Fairly useful hurdler on his day but this return to chasing presents a question mark. |
GALUNGGUNG hit the woodwork in this grade at Ayr on his most recent start and the handicapper might have been kind to only put him up 2lb. The nine-year-old makes only his fourth chase start and provided that performance can be backed up, he may be the one to beat. Stable companion Barrabooka ran too badly to be true when pulled up at Doncaster in December but is an interesting contender on his handicap/chase debut with Gavin Sheehan booked. Bleu D'enfer is next best.
GALUNGGUNG took a step forward when a good second at Ayr recently and looks the most solid option by some way. If Bleu d'Enfer puts in a good round of jumping he may well emerge as the main danger, while Great Pepper will also be a threat if he takes to fences at the first time of asking.
The shape of this race suggests BLEU D'ENFER has a good chance of gaining a first chase win. Galunggung is feared most.

150/1(-50%) | (2) Dangerous Dan 150/1, Once-raced maiden. 33/1, ninth of 17 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.9f, soft) on NH debut 19 days ago. 33-1 and tailed off on debut at Clonmel two weeks ago; may need more time. |

17th (16) ![]() Summer Is Here |
150/1(+25%) | (16) Summer Is Here 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 250/1, fourteenth of 16 in novice hurdle at this course (16.2f, heavy) 7 days ago. Big odds and out the back in a pair of maidens at this track, others make more appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (8) ![]() Glin Road Dream |
100/1(-300%) | (8) Glin Road Dream 100/1, Once-raced maiden. 14/1, tenth of 14 in novice hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, good to soft) on NH debut. Off 6 months. Down in trip. Always in rear when 14-1 for his debut at Wexford, drops in trip, check market. |

21st (20) ![]() Anni Day Now |
150/1(+25%) | (20) Anni Day Now 150/1, €4,500 3-y-o, Soldier of Fortune mare. Dam, ran once in bumper, half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 2½m) Max Ward. Failed to make an impact in a pair of point-to-points, best watched on racecourse debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
22nd (21) ![]() Glory Sky |
150/1(-50%) | (21) Glory Sky 150/1, Fair Flat winner, seventh of 11 in handicap at Kempton (8f, 5/1). Off 15 months. First run for yard after leaving Richard Hannon and needs to hit the ground running now hurdling. Flat recruit, finished up with a rating of 63, best watched on her hurdling and stable bow. |
The market is likely to revolve around the 131-rated Ethical Diamond and there is a feeling that the best is yet to come. On his penultimate start, he was good enough to finish fourth in a handicap on the Flat at Royal Ascot. Willie Mullins' charge may not want the ground as testing as this, though. Gordon Elliott's KAINSBOURG didn't run his race when last of four in a Navan maiden hurdle, but has notable French form on heavy ground and is worth another chance. Bumper winner Quint Major can improve upon a fifth place on his hurdling debut at Limerick, while reserve Cardcounter could get into the mix if getting a run.
ETHICAL DIAMOND possesses the best form on show so is fancied to gain a first win in this sphere now back in these calmer waters. Gordon Elliott's newcomer Amber Point could prove the one to give Willie Mullins' 5-y-o most to do, with Kainsbourg and Quint Major appealing as the pick of those in the battle for minor honours.
Mark Walsh prefers DONT TELL JACK (nap) over Kainsbourg and he gets the vote in an easier race than the last two he contested

1st (4) ![]() Karton Plein |
3/2(+20%) | (4) Karton Plein 3/2, Runner-up in a point. Has shown definite ability when fifth in a bumper and maiden hurdle for Olly Murphy and may prove the answer here. Just a respectable fourth on recent hurdling debut but still makes appeal here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Unleash The Beast |
11/10(+69%) | (6) Unleash The Beast 11/10, Malinas gelding who is bred to stay very well and has shaped that way in a bumper/2 maiden hurdles so far. Sticks at 2m again but still much respected in a race where few boast compelling claims. Did not land a telling blow when fifth last time but he's a player in this easier race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Berkshire Lad |
12/1(-100%) | (2) Berkshire Lad 12/1, Fair form in bumpers. Made a disappointing start to his hurdle career at Fakenham on New Year's Day but it's too soon to write him off in this sphere. Placed in a bumper but spoiled chance by racing too freely on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Golden Echo |
11/2(-38%) | (9) Golden Echo 11/2, Modest on Flat (stays 1½m) but did win a Hamilton handicap on her final outing for Julie Camacho and starts out over hurdles in an ordinary race. Enters the reckoning. Won low-grade Flat handicap last summer (1m3f); makes stable/hurdle debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Majestic Mia |
125/1(-213%) | (10) Majestic Mia 125/1, Fell in point in Ireland and well beaten in 2 hurdles here. Fell on Irish point debut and has not shown a great deal in first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Urblereagh |
33/1(+18%) | (7) Urblereagh 33/1, 150/1 when well held in a Carlisle maiden hurdle in February 2023. Absent since and can only watch with a tongue tie added now. Made reasonably encouraging debut two years ago but not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Barleythorpe |
16/1(+52%) | (1) Barleythorpe 16/1, Well held both starts in bumpers last spring for Pam Sly. Could only consider if backed now hurdling for Mick Appleby. Not disgraced in two bumpers last spring; makes stable/hurdle debut after a layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Pay The Tab |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Pay The Tab 25/1, Fair form standout effort in bumpers but took little interest when pulled on Downpatrick hurdle debut. Has left Gordon Elliott and percentage call is to look elsewhere. Hooded first time. Placed in a bumper for Gordon Elliott but left that stable after two poor runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Hestina Hill |
25/1(+38%) | (3) Hestina Hill 25/1, In top hands but well beaten in a bumper and maiden hurdle in recent months. First-time cheekpieces need to have a transformative effect. With good stable but was always behind when 150-1 for last month's hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Gemi Cat |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Gemi Cat 150/1, No form in 3 hurdles. A well-beaten outsider in three maiden/novice hurdles (2m-2m5f). |
KARTON PLEIN showed some promise on his timber debut when fourth to the well-touted Palladium at Huntingdon. With this contest lacking much depth on paper, Olly Murphy's gelding may have been found an excellent opportunity to gain a first career success. Unleash The Beast is capable of better following his fifth at Uttoxeter, while hurdling newcomer Golden Echo completes the shortlist.
KARTON PLEIN gets a narrow vote over Fergal O'Brien's Unleash The Beast in a maiden hurdle where previous form is very thin on the ground. Anthony Honeyball Flat recruit Golden Echo is another who could have a part to play.
This modest maiden hurdle may be fought out by KARTON PLEIN and Unleash The Beast, who both ran respectably when last in action.

1st (6) ![]() Vroomoz Eile |
7/1(+42%) | (6) Vroomoz Eile 7/1, Twice-raced maiden and much better effort when third of 7 in novice hurdle at Ayr (20.4f, heavy) 28 days ago. Possibilities. Exposed maiden in Irish points; rules form is modest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Just Call Me Lucy |
3/2(+63%) | (1) Just Call Me Lucy 3/2, A fairly useful winner in bumpers and she got off the mark in this sphere in 10-runner novice hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, soft) 39 days ago by neck from Wendywilldo, just holding on. Much respected under a 7 lb penalty. Suited by the step up to 2m3f at Wetherby (beat Wendywilldo by a neck) on Boxing Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Lets Mingle |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Lets Mingle 16/1, Point winner who showed promise when sixth in bumper at Aintree in October. Failed to go on when eighth at Uttoxter since but remains with potential now hurdling. Irish point winner; something to find on bumper efforts but may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Wendywilldo |
11/10(+76%) | (7) Wendywilldo 11/10, Fair bumper winner who posted an excellent neck second of 10 to Just Call Me Lucy in novice hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, soft) 39 days ago, finishing strongly. Can go well again. Nearly collared Just Call Me Lucy at Wetherby; gets a 7lb pull with that rival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Holly Bird |
9/1(+25%) | (3) Holly Bird 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden who failed to build on her hurdling debut when fourth of 7 in novice hurdle at Ayr (20.4f, heavy) 28 days ago. More is required. Has failed to progress, earning a hurdles mark of just 92; difficult task. |
Just Call Me Lucy got off the mark at the third time of asking over hurdles at Wetherby on Boxing Day and should mount a bold bid, but she may find it tough to get the better of MONGIBELLO. The seven-year-old ran below par when fifth in a Grade 3 event at Fairyhouse last time, but a reproduction of her second behind Aurora Vega prior to that would make the mare difficult to stop. Wendywilldo is the pick of the remainder.
Irish-raider MONGIBELLO holds much the best form on show so is taken to bag a second success in this sphere. Wendywilldo could again have to settle for runner-up spot despite being weighted to turn the tables with Just Call Me Lucy from their good Wetherby tussle last time out.
Irish runner MONGIBELLO is the form choice, ahead of Wetherby protagonists Wendywilldo and Just Call Me Lucy.

7/1(-75%) | (5) Lehaunstown 7/1, Promising type. Excellent second of 10 in handicap hurdle (13/2) at this course (19.6f, soft) 21 days ago, suited by increase in trip. Should progress. No impact in maidens, much better on h'cap debut over C&D latest, place claims on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Beautiful Chaos |
40/1(-60%) | (8) Beautiful Chaos 40/1, Fair Flat winner. Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles. 20/1, fourth of 13 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.9f, soft) 19 days ago. May well do better. Fourth in three maidens, rated 103, jockey takes off 7lb, could sneak into the frame. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) ![]() Pirate Island |
28/1(-75%) | (6) Pirate Island 28/1, Fair hurdler. Remains a maiden after 8 hurdle runs. Pulled up in novice hurdle at Tramore (21.4f, good to soft, 4/1), tailed off when pulled up before 2 out. Off 9 months. 0-8 over hurdles, has run well over C&D, has the ability to feature but may need this run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (13) ![]() Queen Of Seduction |
200/1(-100%) | (13) Queen Of Seduction 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Seventeenth of 18 in handicap (80/1) at York (11.8f, soft). Off 7 months. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Very hard to make a case for. Flat winner, rated 92, hasn't shown enough in four starts over hurdles to fancy here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Jokers 'n' Clowns |
66/1(0%) | (10) Jokers 'n' Clowns 66/1, Fair hurdler. Remains a maiden after 8 hurdle runs. Ninth of 13 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at this course (22f, soft) 21 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Point winner, rated 102, has form on heavy, struggled in h'caps lately, others preferred. |

11th (2) ![]() Diamboy Des Carres |
11/1(+21%) | (2) Diamboy Des Carres 11/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Gowran (24.3f, heavy, 16/1) 11 days ago, pulled up before 2 out. Down in trip and hood back on. Claims if back to his best. Bumper winner, placed in three maidens, trip too far on handicap debut latest, claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) ![]() Hills Of Glory |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Hills Of Glory 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 5/1, very good second of 14 in novice hurdle at Naas (19.5f, good to soft) 49 days ago. Each-way chance. Point winner on good ground, touched off at Naas latest, may want better ground. |
There was a lot to like about LEHAUNSTOWN's second place on handicap debut over a similar trip at this track. He wasn't foot perfect at the last, but kept on nicely and was clear of the remainder. Johnny Blue disappointed when favourite for a novice handicap hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, but could bounce back. Miss Mini Bee has improved on each of her three starts over flights, culminating in a second at this venue in January. Drusilla kept on for fourth at Naas, which has earned her a shot at this longer trip. Hills Of Glory was just pipped at Naas, but this will be the slowest ground he has encountered.
As anticipated, LEHAUNSTOWN took a sizeable step forward when runner-up on his handicap debut here three weeks ago and, with further progress likely, he is taken to go one better back in maiden company. Though there's an air of vulnerability about Folly Beach, she has serious each-way prospects here judged on several pieces of form and she is feared most ahead of Miss Mini Bee.
A chance is taken on DRUSILLA who ran well at Naas. She gets a nice bit of weight from all her rivals and that could be important here

Makes hurdle debut after a further 3 months off. Displayed significant promise when fourth in two bumpers last year; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Spectre One |
25/1(-150%) | (6) Spectre One 25/1, Never involved in a Huntingdon bumper last month but from a leading stable and no surprise were he to prove a different proposition now hurdling. Represents a top stable but was unable to land a significant blow on recent bumper debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() My Cullen |
5/1(+29%) | (4) My Cullen 5/1, Shaped with some promise in a brace of bumpers and shrugged aside a disappointing hurdle debut when fifth of 13 in 2m Newbury novice 19 days ago. Likely capable of better again. Kept on for respectable fifth in fairly good Newbury novice last month; could have a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Watching Over You |
50/1(-100%) | (7) Watching Over You 50/1, Bumper winner for Milton Harris in February 2023 but not seen again until well held in a Uttoxeter maiden hurdle for Olly Murphy just 9 days ago. Needs to have come on a lot in a short time. Won weak bumper in 2023 but was beaten out of sight on recent stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Lady Fortune |
100/1(-203%) | (9) Lady Fortune 100/1, 22/1, distant fifth of 10 in bumper at Carlisle (17f, soft) on debut 50 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Quite stoutly bred mare who was tailed off in soft-ground bumper on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Heart Over Head |
2/3(+56%) | (2) Heart Over Head 2/3, Half-brother to connections useful hurdler Alaphilippe who produced a promising first effort when second in a Market Rasen bumper just under a year ago. Has had wind surgery ahead of this switch to hurdles. Gets the vote. Kept on well for second behind fairly useful rival on bumper debut last February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Cometh The Hour |
80/1(-142%) | (1) Cometh The Hour 80/1, Sixth of 7 in a Ffos Las bumper for Rebecca Curtis in October 2022 and not seen since. Can only be watched. Absent since low-key bumper debut for another stable in 2022. |
HEART OVER HEAD showed a fair amount of ability when filling the runner-up spot on his sole bumper start at Market Rasen in February last year and the form of that contest is working out well. Fergal O'Brien's six-year-old has since had a wind operation and it would be no surprise to see him make an instant impression on his hurdling debut. Rule Me In finished second between the flags before changing hands for 32,000 pounds and has to be respected. Elforleather needs to be monitored in the market.
HEART OVER HEAD shaped well in a bumper last February and might prove the answer to the second division of this maiden hurdle. Flat winner Elforleather is second choice ahead of My Cullen and Irish point recruit Rule Me In.
We haven't seen him since last February but HEART OVER HEAD made a very promising bumper and could be hard to beat here.

1st (5) ![]() Gipsy Lee Rose |
4/1(-100%) | (5) Gipsy Lee Rose 4/1, Hit the target twice last season and added to her tally when seeing off 12 rivals over 3¼m here in December. Another solid effort here 2 weeks later and, with this drop back in trip unlikely to be an issue, she has to enter calculations. In good form (won/second) over 3m2f here the last twice; 2m4f winner last March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Millie Supreme |
4/1(+0%) | (2) Millie Supreme 4/1, £30,000 purchase after winning 3 of 6 starts in Irish points and found only one too good first two starts over hurdles then faced a stiff task in listed event at Haydock in December. Failed to complete on chase debut at Wetherby but she could have a part to play granted a clear round. Faller switched to chasing last time but has possibilities granted a clear round. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Similar Story |
10/3(+67%) | (3) Similar Story 10/3, Easy winner of an Irish point and made winning chasing debut at Kelso in October. Backed it up with a very good second over this C&D the following month but form has dipped badly the last twice. This drop back in grade may prompt a rebound; ties in with Divas Doyen on course form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Divas Doyen |
15/8(+17%) | (6) Divas Doyen 15/8, Finally got off the mark over this C&D in November, seen to good effect in having her cards played later than the placed pair and having the benefit of the rail late on. Runner-up both subsequent starts at Musselburgh and another bold show on the cards. Opened her account in Carlisle contest in November; has remained in form since; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Mary's Fortune |
8/1(0%) | (1) Mary's Fortune 8/1, Fair maiden hurdler/chaser in France a few years back. Won a point in Britain last winter and betting perhaps the best guide to expectations back under Rules following almost a year off. Maiden in France; point winner for current yard; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Chatshow Host |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Chatshow Host 11/1, Dual Irish point winner who has proved rather hit-and-miss over hurdles. Entirely possible that she will prove herself to be more of a force in this sphere but Millie Supreme appears to be the stable No 1 on this occasion. Form figures of 53211 in Irish points; may tap back into that progress now sent chasing. |
The winner of a similar race over 2m4f here last November before filling the runner-up spot in a couple of novice handicaps at Musselburgh the last twice, the reliable DIVAS DOYEN has solid credentials and can add to her tally on these terms. Fellow course winner Gipsy Lee Rose also commands respect. However, the returning Mary's Fortune, who showed promise on her only start over fences in France before faring well in point-to-points for Tim Vaughan, may pose a bigger danger if she readjusts to regulation fences.
The one who appeals most is DIVAS DOYEN, who opened her account when seeing off the re-opposing Similar Story over this C&D in November and has lost little caste in defeat in a couple of Musselburgh handicaps since. Gipsy Lee Rose looks solid and is feared most ahead of Millie Supreme.
Switched to chasing, CHATSHOW HOST could well resume her pre-rules progress. Millie Supreme is another interesting McCain runner.

1st (9) ![]() Duffys Hodey |
10/3(+56%) | (9) Duffys Hodey 10/3, Two wins from 4 runs this season. 5/2, career best when winning 15-runner handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) 18 days ago, driven out. This is more demanding. Career best when winning at Fairyhouse last time; up 9lb but has to be considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Balko D'ange |
3/1(0%) | (1) Balko D'ange 3/1, 13/8, career best when winning 9-runner listed handicap at Limerick (16f, soft) 36 days ago by 1½ lengths from Bright Legend. Up in trip for this handicap hurdle debut and looks competitive on form. Won in Listed company at Limerick last time; 8lb higher but has to be respected again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Duke Silver |
11/2(+50%) | (7) Duke Silver 11/2, Creditable fifth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good, 12/1) 39 days ago, finishing with running left. Back up in trip and likely to be in the thick of things. Decent runs in defeat over different trips last twice and shouldn't be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() The Story So Far |
13/2(-8%) | (3) The Story So Far 13/2, Career best when winning 11-runner novice hurdle at Cork (24f, soft, 11/10) 17 days ago, always holding on. Should give another good account. Won a 3m Cork maiden last time; just does enough in his races and can be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Jacovec Cavern |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Jacovec Cavern 10/1, 6/1, respectable eighth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good) 38 days ago. Up in trip on this first run since rejoining yard after a stint with Emmet Mullins. Maiden over hurdles has been highly tried; decent run last time but needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Butcher Hollow |
13/2(+46%) | (4) Butcher Hollow 13/2, Lightly-raced winner under Rules. Tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable third of 18 in novice hurdle (5/2) at Fairyhouse (19.6f, heavy). Off 10 months ahead of this handicap debut. Consistent in defeat in maidens; needs to be ready on h'cap debut after an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Birmingham Alabama |
9/2(+10%) | (6) Birmingham Alabama 9/2, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Career best when winning 10-runner handicap hurdle at this course (19.6f, soft, 9/4) 21 days ago, always holding on. Shortlist material. Won over C&D last time; this is tougher raised 8lb but is lightly-raced so respected. |
JACOB'S LADDER easily landed the odds in a Down Royal bumper and appreciated the step up to 2m4f when getting up close home to take a Navan maiden hurdle last month. He gets the vote over Balko D'ange, who has progressed nicely over hurdles this season, notably landing a Listed handicap at Limerick last time. The Story So Far won't lack for stamina having won a 3m Cork maiden hurdle, while C&D winner Birmingham Alabama is another to consider. There is not much to choose between Duke Silver and Dumb Love on running behind Shraheen at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting, while Butcher Hollow reappears after a lengthy absence.
Cases can be made for several of these, with BALKO D'ANGE the pick on the back of his breakthrough success at Limerick where he shaped as though stepping up to this trip would be no bad thing. The 5-y-o has been handed a fair-looking mark for this handicap debut and he is preferred to Duke Silver, who shaped well in a big-field Leopardstown handicap on Boxing Day. Birmingham Alabama and likely improver Jacob's Ladder are also accorded respect.
Having hit a rich vein of form lately, DUFFYS HODEY could defy a 9lb rise for his most recent Fairyhouse win.

1st (10) ![]() Lyle View |
13/8(+82%) | (10) Lyle View 13/8, Runner-up on the last of 3 outings in points and fared a bit better in a first-time hood when fourth in an 11-runner Uttoxeter handicap (15.8f, heavy) on New Year's Eve. Now 2 lb lower and live each-way claims now moving back up in trip. Respectable fourth at Uttoxeter and has claims if she can build on that back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Gotthereintheend |
6/1(-20%) | (4) Gotthereintheend 6/1, Showed a bit in bumpers and improved on previous hurdling efforts when a staying-on second in a novice at Warick last spring. Not so good in a first-time tongue strap (retained here) on return and handicap/yard debut at Ascot in December but she's probably worth another chance. May have had stamina or fitness issues on Ascot stable debut; not ruled out back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() Lady Harriett |
22/1(-57%) | (8) Lady Harriett 22/1, Opened account at Ffos Las in November but has followed that with two heavy defeats and now finds herself with a point to prove. Off the mark at Ffos Las (2m4f) in November but she's struggled in both runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) ![]() Oneforthefairgreen |
14/1(-56%) | (12) Oneforthefairgreen 14/1, Reappearance second at Leicester represented a step forward but she has failed to build on that since and not sure that this step back up in trip is what she wants. Runner-up at Leicester in November but well held in both runs since and she's now 0-12. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Princess Keri |
20/1(-43%) | (9) Princess Keri 20/1, From the family of Welsh Grand National winner Potters Corner. Little impact in 3 runs under Rules so far but she's another who could be seen in a better light now switched to handicap company. In good hands and still lightly raced but she needs plenty of progress on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) ![]() Hey Mama Rock Me |
13/2(-86%) | (11) Hey Mama Rock Me 13/2, Stoutly bred and produced by far her best effort yet when chasing home an improver upped to 23.8f on return at Musselburgh (soft) on New Year's Day. Provided that this drop back in trip doesn't count against her, she should make a bold bid to go one better. Promising second on recent handicap debut at Musselburgh (3m); respected back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Ici La Reine |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Ici La Reine 14/1, Dual AW bumper winner who shaped fairly well when fifth on 20.5f Market Rasen hurdles debut in November 2023. However, she has failed to build on that in 3 subsequent starts and needs to get back on track returning from 9 months for her new yard. Two bumper wins but no progress in four hurdle runs; bit to prove on return for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Laddie Cooper Mia |
40/1(-21%) | (6) Laddie Cooper Mia 40/1, Shaped like a stayer in 3 bumpers and remote second of 4 in novice hurdle at Sedgefield (19.8f, good) on hurdles bow in November. Safely held next 2 starts and needs to raise her game now pitched into a handicap. Still early days and now goes handicapping but she needs a transformation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() Loud And Proud |
25/1(-150%) | (1) Loud And Proud 25/1, Winless following 8 attempts between the flags and hasn't made much of an impact in mares' maiden/novice hurdles so far. Still, better could be forthcoming now upped in trip for this handicap debut for her up-and-coming yard. Watch the betting. Unexposed over hurdles and is a possible improver upped in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Wilmcote |
3/1(+25%) | (7) Wilmcote 3/1, Showed ability amidst greenness in 2 bumpers and bettered her novice exploits in this sphere when third of 11 on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) just before Christmas. 1 lb lower now and promises to be suited by this stiffer test, so there's certainly cause for optimism. Eyecatching third on handicap debut at Uttoxeter and she looks interesting upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) ![]() Extra Cover |
11/1(+8%) | (13) Extra Cover 11/1, Hasn't offered much in a bumper nor 5 starts over hurdles and hopes now pinned on the first-time visor sparking improvement. Still unexposed but needs a visor to make a big difference on this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Omaha Wish |
25/1(-39%) | (5) Omaha Wish 25/1, Opened account over fences for Dan Skelton at Fakenham last summer but efforts for present yard have left a fair bit to be desired. On lower mark on this return to hurdling and she's hard to rule out back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) ![]() Misting |
28/1(+15%) | (14) Misting 28/1, Little promise in bumpers and similar story over hurdles so far, showing signs of temperament but not a great deal in the way of ability. 0-7 and pulled up in both handicaps; tongue-tie is now added and has lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Time For Tea |
100/1(-100%) | (2) Time For Tea 100/1, Fair maiden hurdler at best for Henry de Bromhead in Ireland but she's difficult to make a case for on the back of a very poor debut performance for this yard at Taunton. Nine-race maiden and was pulled up at 80-1 on handicap/stable debut last month. |
HEY MAMA ROCK ME was well beaten into second in a stronger event at Musselburgh, but she takes a drop in trip and has a 2lb lower mark to contend with. The booking of James Bowen aids her cause further so she might be able to make her second handicap start a successful one. Wilmcote produced a better effort to reach the frame on her handicap bow at Uttoxeter and is an interesting contender on her first attempt over this distance. Gotthereintheend is another to note.
While this drop back in trip is of dubious benefit, HEY MAMA ROCK ME is nevertheless appealing on the back of an improved reappearance second upped to a trip just shy of 3m at Musselburgh. Conversely, Wilmcote is going up in trip following a decent effort over the minimum distance at Uttoxeter and she will be a threat if, as expected, this stiffer test helps eke out a little more. Lyle View and handicap debutante Princess Keri are also shortlisted.
This step up in trip looks a good move for WILMCOTE and she's a big player if scan build on her eyecatching third at Uttoxeter.

1st (2) ![]() Golden Maverick |
4/1(-78%) | (2) Golden Maverick 4/1, Fairly useful on the Flat and scored twice hurdling for current yard last spring. Isn't the most straightforward ride but travelled more kindly in first-time visor fourth of 7 in handicap Ayr (20.4f), made costly mistake at final flight. Very capable of winning this but comes with risks attached. Ran well in first-time visor at Ayr two weeks ago; possibilities in the retained headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Haarar |
5/1(+17%) | (8) Haarar 5/1, Back-to-back winner over hurdles in May and showed his wellbeing this season by scoring on the Flat at Redcar in November (14f, soft). Build on that with a good second over hurdles at Haydock (18.9f), unlucky to meet trouble in running. Below-par last-time but could bounce back in a truly run race. Did well to finish second at Haydock on penultimate start; modest third latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Thereisnodoubt |
12/1(-33%) | (5) Thereisnodoubt 12/1, Veteran returned to form when fourth at Haydock (19f, soft) in December but couldn't back that up when running below form fifth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft) 19 days ago, labouring in the home straight. Chance if cheekpieces can spark a revival. Not the force of old; chance depends on how well he responds to new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Russian Virtue |
40/1(-233%) | (3) Russian Virtue 40/1, Eight-time winner when trained by Rebecca Menzies including twice over C&D. Mixed bag in 3 starts on the Flat for current yard, latest a disappointing effort when last of 9 in a handicap (17/2) at Newcastle (10.2f) 26 days ago. Needs to leave that effort well-behind on return to hurdles. Interesting returned to this sphere, being 6-12 in handicap hurdles and 2-2 over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Kalium |
3/2(+33%) | (1) Kalium 3/2, Appealing pedigree and made a winning debut in a Killarney bumper in May, which was his sole outing for Sean Doyle. Promising start over hurdles for new connections, now 2-2 when making the running and arrives here chasing a hat-trick on handicap debut. Lightly-raced and open to improvement. Fontwell success took his record to 3-4; respected, with further improvement plausible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Eire Street |
13/2(+46%) | (4) Eire Street 13/2, Much improved for new yard at the beginning of 2024, easily winning heavy-ground handicaps over C&D and Ayr (20.5f) in February. Good second of 16 at Kelso on final start last season. Shaped as if needing the run on comeback in October (102 days ago) and should be more at home back up in trip. Seemed to need his sole run this term; progressive otherwise in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Mojo Ego |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Mojo Ego 33/1, Won a pair of juvenile hurdles for Harry Derham last season but he hasn't gone on from an encouraging stable debut at Cartmel back in August and could only be of interest if the market hints that a return to form is imminent following a 76-day break. Far from solid on his form for current stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Heritier |
4/1(+43%) | (7) Heritier 4/1, Back to winning ways in 19f handicap hurdle at this venue and not disgraced when fourth off the same mark here 10 days later, having not been ideally placed the way the race unfolded. Jumping let him down over fences last time but is very much respected back in this sphere at a course where he goes Won here in December but that form lacks strength; now 3lb higher. |
The hat-trick seeking KALIUM, who readily made all to justify favouritism at Fontwell on Boxing Day, seems to be improving with every run and is hard to oppose given the scope for progression now he tackles handicaps. Russian Virtue, who is already a dual C&D winner, reverts to hurdles from a competitive rating and can give the selection plenty to think about on these terms. Golden Maverick is reliable enough to be considered a key player in this company.
A trappy 8-runner contest. With a few who race prominently, this could set up nicely for the strong-travelling HERITIER who won around here three starts ago and hasn't had things go to plan the last twice. Talented and temperamental, Golden Maverick would be a big danger if the visor has the same impact again. The improving Kalium is worthy of an honourable mention, while C&D winner Eire Street would be an interesting contender back at this trip if ready to roll after another absence.
With the visor retained, GOLDEN MAVERICK could well regain the winning thread. Improving Kalium is feared most.

200/1(+20%) | (2) Catch Yourself On 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Pulled up in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.4f, soft, 150/1) 9 days ago, pulled up before 2 out. Blinkered for 1st time. Was pulled-up on second maiden hurdle start at Fairyhouse last time; blinkers tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) ![]() Lady Mamie |
200/1(+20%) | (11) Lady Mamie 200/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. Eighth of 11 in maiden hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy, 200/1) 6 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has shown little ability in a bumper and two maiden hurdles so is passed over today. |
ARGENTO BOY needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort at Leopardstown, but still looks the one to beat on overall form. The Jukebox Jury gelding easily won a Fairyhouse bumper on debut last year and made an encouraging reappearance when switched to hurdles over an extended 2m5f here in November. He beat all bar The Big Westerner, who subsequently won a Grade 2 at Limerick, with Son Of Anarchy over 20 lengths behind in fourth and the long-absent Flemensface well beaten in sixth. Minella Post was placed on both bumper starts and has also shown promise over hurdles, including here behind James's Gate.
ARGENTO BOY can't have been right at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting and is given another chance to confirm the promise of his course hurdle debut second. Gordon Elliott's Son of Anarchy should build on his hurdle debut fourth here in November and is the obvious danger. Minella Post may prove best of the rest.
If ARGENTO BOY can put behind a dismal display at Leopardstown last time then he should be up to winning this.

1st (11) ![]() Shantwopointfive |
7/2(+75%) | (11) Shantwopointfive 7/2, Irish point winner who built on hurdles debut promise when landing a 7-runner maiden at Cartmel (2¾m, good to soft) in May. May have needed the run back on testing ground when fifth of 9 in a handicap hurdle at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) 60 days ago. Should come on for that. Maiden winner last spring and shaped quite well on handicap debut in December, after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) ![]() Bobby Socks |
3/1(-9%) | (10) Bobby Socks 3/1, On the up in 2023 winning brace of 2½m handicaps, one over C&D. Showed he still retains plenty of ability when third of 10 in a handicap hurdle at Leicester (15.5f) on the back of a 17-month absence. Entiled to come on for that and had another wind surgery since. Interesting contender for top yard. Would appeal more on good ground but still helps to give stable a strong hand in this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Whatsupwithyou |
14/1(-75%) | (1) Whatsupwithyou 14/1, Veteran isn't the easiest to win with. Well-backed when headgear back on at Cheltenham in November but a shade disappointing that day. Regressed when tenth of 13 in handicap hurdle (20/1) at Ascot (21.6f, good to soft) 45 days ago. Blinkers tried today but others have stronger claims. On a good mark now but needs to be perked up by a change of headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Whatsyourproblem |
15/2(+46%) | (9) Whatsyourproblem 15/2, Has yet to build on the promise of his hurdle debut second in Ireland, has ran okay in two stars for Fergal O'Brien, latest third of 9 in a novice hurdle (7/1) at Doncaster (20.8f, good) 66 days ago. Should be more at home in handicaps but we may not see the best of him until he tackles fences. Below his Irish hurdling form on first two starts for this stable but remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Shared |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Shared 5/1, Improved when taking a 2m Chepstow handicap on reappearance last season and ended that campaign with a creditable effort at Warwick. His tendency to race lazily has been evident this season, although not suited by sharper test at Plumpton last time. Claims if on a going day back up in trip. Became rather disappointing last year; needs to up his game on first run for three months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Toonagh Warrior |
11/2(+39%) | (6) Toonagh Warrior 11/2, Placed in brace of Southwell handicaps at up to this trip with cheekpieces fitted this winter. Jumped well and was better value than his finishing position when sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Newbury (24.2f), had his stamina stretched. Should be in the mix back down in trip in first-time blinkers. Second twice in cheekpieces here in the autumn; below that form since; now tries blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Bread And Butter |
9/1(-64%) | (5) Bread And Butter 9/1, Right back to form since undergoing a wind op, winning 3 on the bounce under Lewis Saunders before respectable third of 8 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, good to soft), faring best of those who raced off the pace. Can be competitive again but handicapper has made life tougher now. Won three in a row in the autumn and was placed off today's mark last time; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() D'jo Dela Barriere |
18/1(-13%) | (7) D'jo Dela Barriere 18/1, Struck at the second time of asking for Evan Williams in 2m Hereford novice earlier this season. Struggled to make an impact back over fences and returns to smaller obstacles, making his handicap debut in this sphere. Not many miles on the clock but others preferred here. Safely held in two chases since easily winning a weak novice hurdle; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) ![]() Churchills Boy |
12/1(+40%) | (4) Churchills Boy 12/1, Bumper winner and already a dual winner in this sphere in 2022/2023. Bounced back from disappointing effort when a respectable fourth at Plumpton (20.5f, good) back in April 2023 but off the track since and likely to need the outing here. Dual novice winner in 2022-23 season; returns from long absence today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() The Winslow Boy |
11/1(-22%) | (2) The Winslow Boy 11/1, Made it fourth time lucky over hurdles in 2m Chepstow novice in November. Couldn't defy a tough-looking opening mark on handicap debut when fourteenth of 18 in a handicap hurdle at Ascot. Tackles longer trip today but needs to improve to overcome current handicap mark. Chepstow novice winner; disappointed on handicap debut but remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Stratton Oakmont |
17/2(+29%) | (8) Stratton Oakmont 17/2, Course winner returned with a good third at Ffos Las in November. Disappointed at Haydock 6 weeks later but he's not the type to stay down for long. Placed on seasonal debut but pulled up since, and seems best suited by 3m nowadays. |
Although thwarted in his hat-trick bid when third at Taunton, the 2m3f distance may have been just on the sharp side for BREAD AND BUTTER. A return to an extended 2m4f is sure to see Olly Murphy's veteran in a much better light and, racing off an unchanged mark, he's taken to regain the winning thread. Shared is another who should excel over this longer trip and is feared most, ahead of the selection's stablemate Bobby Socks.
BOBBY SOCKS showed he retains plenty of ability when finishing a promising third on the back of a 17-month absence and he's the most interesting runner here. Toonagh Warrior has run some creditable races over the winter and should be in the mix once again. Paul O'Brien has a tough job aboard the enigmatic Shared, but he's capable if on a going day.
Another chance is given to THE WINSLOW BOY, who flopped on his handicap debut but still has scope to progress from his novice win.

1st (13) ![]() Don Brocco |
5/1(+58%) | (13) Don Brocco 5/1, It's now 19 runs since his last win in 2022 and he was pulled up in handicap chase at Catterick (25.2f, good) 12 days ago. Blinkers go back on with plenty to prove. Ran respectably in this race last year but is 0-12 over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (15) ![]() Gibberwell |
11/1(+45%) | (15) Gibberwell 11/1, On a lengthy losing sequence and pulled up in handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f, heavy) 33 days ago. Hard to warm to. Has recent course form but strike-rate is still poor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Nights In Venice |
18/1(-50%) | (5) Nights In Venice 18/1, Got off the mark over fences at Ayr (20.5f) last February. Almost certainly needed the run after 8 months off at Wetherby last month and better expected now. Fourth in this contest 12 months ago, then beat Travail d'Orfevre at Ayr. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) ![]() Toombridge |
5/1(+69%) | (14) Toombridge 5/1, Still a maiden and he came in a below-form eighth of 13 in handicap chase here (26.2f, soft) 64 days ago. Cheekpieces are now reached for. Inconsistent maiden; needs help from the added cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Breeze Of Wind |
9/2(-13%) | (2) Breeze Of Wind 9/2, Took this 12 months ago and posted a solid fourth of 10 in handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) 58 days ago when needing a stronger gallop. Big shout in his follow-up bid off a 2 lb lower mark. Record of 3-6 in Class 5 events includes a win in this race last year; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Uptown Harry |
20/1(+20%) | (9) Uptown Harry 20/1, C&D winner but he came in a well-beaten fifth of 7 to Croagh Patrick in handicap chase here (26.1f, soft) 50 days ago, going in snatches. Visored for 1st time now. Poor form this season; new headgear needs to help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Dusautior |
10/3(+72%) | (8) Dusautior 10/3, In good form until pulled up (on the back of wind surgery) in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) 34 days ago. Well weighted if getting back on track. Ran well at this course on penultimate start; chance on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Travail D'orfevre |
3.75/1(0%) | (4) Travail D'orfevre 3.75/1, Course winner who also bagged 4-runner handicap chase at Ayr (24.1f, heavy) 28 days ago. Can go well again despite a 2 lb weights rise. Consistent sort who scored at Ayr last month on first attempt over 3m; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) ![]() Croagh Patrick |
8/1(+50%) | (10) Croagh Patrick 8/1, Course winner but pulled up in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) 34 days ago, tailing off some way out. Others appeal more. Return to Carlisle is a plus; has a largely consistent record here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) ![]() Torosay |
7/1(+0%) | (7) Torosay 7/1, Signed off with 3m success at Hexham and not disgraced after 7 months off when a fading sixth of 13 in handicap chase here (26.2f, soft) 64 days ago. One to consider. Steadily progressive in races at up to 3m over fences; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) ![]() One Fer Mamma |
33/1(+0%) | (12) One Fer Mamma 33/1, A fair winning hurdler/chaser but resumed from 8 months off with a below-form fourth of 8 at Market Rasen (3m) in December. Others preferred despite a sliding mark. Holds weak claims on his form for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() Camp Belan |
25/1(-150%) | (1) Camp Belan 25/1, Thorough stayer who cashed in on his reduced mark at Ayr (24.1f) last February. Below par last 2 runs at Wetherby and Kelso though so has a bit to prove. Regressive this season; won at Ayr on last attempt in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) ![]() Stowaway John |
25/1(+0%) | (11) Stowaway John 25/1, Got off the mark at Hexham last March but resumed with a below-par seventh of 10 in handicap chase at Hexham (15.6f, soft) 54 days ago. Significantly up in trip with more needed. Has failed to build on 2m4f Hexham win last March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Cream Of The West |
15/2(+6%) | (3) Cream Of The West 15/2, A dual hurdles winner last season at up to 3m who has made a solid start over fences, not lasting home when fourth of 6 in 3m2f handicap at Haydock 35 days ago. Considered back in trip. Sole attempt in Class 5 resulted in a hurdles win off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Pitempton Power |
66/1(-100%) | (6) Pitempton Power 66/1, Back-to-back chase winner in 2021/22 but little to shout about in a very light 2022/23 and returned from long absence with a poor showing over hurdles at Carlisle. Plenty to prove. Form has deteriorated; best watched. |
Travail D'Orfevre made the most of a small-field affair when landing the spoils over 3m at Ayr last month. The nine-year-old is relatively unexposed over staying distances and a 2lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid, but it could be worth taking a chance on his stablemate CREAM OF THE WEST. The son of Westerner has shaped better than the distance beaten on both chase outings to date and this drop into class 5 company could prove fruitful. Last year's winner Breeze Of Wind is also noted.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and BREEZE OF WIND is fancied to repeat his victory in this contest 12 months ago having not been seen to ideal effect when fourth at Wetherby last time out. Course-scorer Travail d'Orfevre could emerge as the main danger, although Torosay, Dusautior and Cream of The West all need factoring in too.
Consistent TRAVAIL D'ORFEVRE (nap) is unexposed over 3m and is taken to follow up his Ayr win. Nights In Venice is second pick.

![]() Whatsupnellie |
(4) 10/1(+9%) | (4) Whatsupnellie 10/1, Excellent third of 10 in novice hurdle (50/1) at this course (19.6f, soft) 21 days ago, shaping as if well worth a go at staying trips. Open to improvement on handicap hurdle debut. Third over 2m4f at this track three weeks ago; this trip can suit and be competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (8) ![]() Lucky Viv |
11/1(+21%) | (8) Lucky Viv 11/1, Ran better than she has for a while when good fifth of 9 in handicap hurdle (12/1) at Cork (20f, soft) 17 days ago and each-way possibilities if building on that. Fifth last time when 3lb out of the h'cap; off her proper mark today and could run well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Betty Dutton |
17/2(-13%) | (7) Betty Dutton 17/2, Only 1 maiden hurdle win to her name but ran well back up in trip after 12 weeks off when second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Navan (20f, soft) 16 days ago, travelled well. Tongue tie on and up in trip, looks sure to be competitive again if stamina holds out. Went up 3lb for Navan 2nd place; can run well if staying this trip; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) ![]() Glenetty |
66/1(-100%) | (14) Glenetty 66/1, Not seen to best effect when 80/1, seventh of 10 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) 18 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut and while she might do better in handicaps, needs to improve to feature here. The best of her three maiden hurdle starts was last time and can be more competitive now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) ![]() Robyndeglory |
20/1(+20%) | (10) Robyndeglory 20/1, Lost her way in recent runs, 18/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, 22½ lengths eighth of 13 to Slotty Dotty in handicap hurdle at this course (22f, soft) 21 days ago. Best to look elsewhere at present. Poor on her last three starts but would have a shout if coming back to her best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Slim Marvel |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Slim Marvel 4/1, Winner in hurdle at Kilbeggan in July. Has been in good heart and did well from 2 lb out of the handicap to finish good second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, soft) 17 days ago. Another bold show expected now tackling 3m. Fine run at Cork last time and if she repeats that over this trip then should be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) ![]() Juniper Hill |
16/1(+20%) | (11) Juniper Hill 16/1, 1 win from 3 runs this season. Pulled up in handicap hurdle (12/1) at Fairyhouse (24.5f, soft) 33 days ago, losing place early final circuit. Tongue strap on 1st time and needs to bounce back from that disappointing effort. Won at Tipperary in November but was pulled-up at Fairyhouse since; questions to answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) ![]() Apples In Winter |
25/1(+24%) | (13) Apples In Winter 25/1, Offered little when 28/1 with cheekpieces on for 1st time, seventeenth of 19 in handicap hurdle at this course (23.8f, soft) 55 days ago. Others preferred. Well beaten on return back here last time and needs much more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) ![]() Doyen For A Drink |
4/1(+60%) | (12) Doyen For A Drink 4/1, Winner in hurdle at Cartmel in August. 9/1, fell in handicap hurdle at Limerick (20f, soft) in December when yet to be asked for effort fully when falling 2 out. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (20f, soft, 13/2) 19 days ago and one for the shortlist back up to 3m here. Every chance when falling two out at Limerick; beaten 11l at Clonmel since and needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Slotty Dotty |
10/3(-48%) | (2) Slotty Dotty 10/3, 1 win from 3 runs this season. Career best when winning a 13-runner handicap hurdle at this course (22f, soft, 11/2) 21 days ago, won comfortably and stayed on in a manner that suggests this trip will be within her grasp. Player. Won over 2m6f at this track on handicap debut last time; up 10lb but is a strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) ![]() Lady Bluebird |
25/1(+24%) | (1) Lady Bluebird 25/1, Off 8-months when 28/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (20f, soft) 39 days ago, didn't respond well to change of tactics. Needs to bounce back. Was tailed-off on return at Limerick last time and has to put that effort behind her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) ![]() No Fussing |
9/2(+44%) | (9) No Fussing 9/2, After 7 months off, took a step back in the right direction when fifth of 21 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (24.5f, soft, 20/1) 33 days ago. Needs to back that up now. Just denied in this race last year; should have improved from comeback run; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) ![]() Brianna Lily |
18/1(+10%) | (6) Brianna Lily 18/1, Followed a good run with a below-par one when eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (20f, soft) 39 days ago. Bounce back required. Fine third at Tramore in October but was poor at Limerick last time and has to rebound. |
SLOTTY DOTTY confirmed the promise shown in maidens when scoring in good style on her handicap debut over 2m6f here last month. The point-to-point winner finished strongly to beat Comeonarchie by seven lengths and is taken to defy a 10lb rise in the ratings over this slightly longer trip. Betty Dutton enters calculations on her second to Collaborative over 2m4f at Navan, while Whatsupnellie caught the eye when keeping on into third behind Magic McColgan in an extended 2m3f mares' maiden here. Slim Marvel had Gers Gigi over two lengths and a position behind, with Lucky Viv fifth, when runner-up behind Cast A Spell over 2m4f at Cork.
SLIM MARVEL could be open to more improvement if seeing out this longer trip, and she's taken to get the better of Doyen For A Drink who looks handicapped to go close, while Betty Dutton should be in the mix if her stamina holds out now upped in distance.
NO FUSSING was just denied in this race last year and could improve enough from her comeback run to go one better now.

1st (6) ![]() Edgewell |
5/1(+17%) | (6) Edgewell 5/1, Off the mark over fences with a cosy success in handicap at Downpatrick (23.7f) in October and back to form in this sphere when chasing home Jongleur D'etoiles last time (wore visor). Up 5 lb for finishing second given progressive nature of winner and can go well again if headgear has same impact. Ran big race in defeat behind Jongleur d'Etoiles last month; taken very seriously here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Star Vantage |
10/3(+26%) | (9) Star Vantage 10/3, Remains a maiden after 17 runs but he shaped encouragingly when third of 16 in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby (24.1f, soft), in a race that is working out extremely well with 1st, 4th and 5th all having won since. Must enter calculations here. 0-14 over hurdles but ran well when third in big field at Wetherby (3m) over Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Jongleur D'etoiles |
5/2(0%) | (3) Jongleur D'etoiles 5/2, A typical improver from a yard who do so well with this type of horse. Arrives here on the back of a double having landed victories at Wincanton (beating Keable, a progressive sort) and Catterick, scoring by ½ length from Edgewell (25.3f). Up 6lb but should make a bold bid for the hat-trick here. Improving 6yo who bids to complete a hat-trick; could still be on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Good Bye |
18/1(+64%) | (5) Good Bye 18/1, Proved a model of consistency during 2022/23 campaign for this yard but has taken his time to warm up since returning from 17-month absence in June. Step in the right direction when sixth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f) 11 days ago but hard to be confident that he'll back that up. Didn't run badly at Wetherby 11 days ago but is seemingly on the downgrade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Just Four Fame |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Just Four Fame 33/1, Third in an Aintree bumper in May 2022 but hurdling efforts have been uninspiring in the main, faring no better in handicaps, first-time visor having little impact when well-beaten at Market Rasen (16.6f) last month. Back to 3m here and others have stronger claims. Unplaced al seven hurdling starts; significant improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() De Vega's Warrior |
8/1(0%) | (8) De Vega's Warrior 8/1, A frustrating maiden on Flat. Promise in first-time cheekpieces when third of 11 (20.5f, Southwell) on handicap debut but let down by his hurdling when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Fakenham (23.4f, good to soft, 12/1) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces back on in a bid to sharpen up his jumping. Third in first two handicap hurdles (2m4f/2m7f); needs to find extra here. |

7th (10) ![]() Pooroldmackley |
28/1(-40%) | (10) Pooroldmackley 28/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and only poor form over hurdles, making no impact when sixth of 7 in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f, soft, 33/1) 70 days ago. Opposable on first try at this trip, unless market offers any hope. Well beaten in first two handicaps (2m4f/2mf); tries new trip and sports cheekpieces here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Just Chasing May |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Just Chasing May 5/1, Winner at Uttoxeter in June and has continued in good nick, third of 8 in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield (23f, good to soft) in November before solid second of 14 in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, heavy), having made the running. Should be competitive again. Placed all four starts since 2m4f win last May and likely to be on the premises again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Small Town Hero |
9/1(+36%) | (2) Small Town Hero 9/1, Point winner who has been brought along steadily in this sphere having shown some promise in qualifying runs. Makes handicap debut tackling 3m for the first time but could only be of interest if market speaks in his favour. One to note in the betting. Soundly beaten in three maiden hurdles (2m4f-2m6f) but may fare better in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) ![]() Faded Fantasy |
10/1(+9%) | (4) Faded Fantasy 10/1, Course winner not won since June 2023, went close on first attempt over fences at Hereford (25f) in November he's looked a difficult ride on two occasions since, when tried in different headgear. Clearly has his own ideas about the game and not one to rely on with all headgear removed today. Went close in a chase in November but did not look very enthusiastic on next two outings. |

Returned from 20-month absence and a breathing operation when fair fourth of 12 in a handicap hurdle (50/1) at Uttoxeter (19.9f, heavy) 45 days ago. Up in trip but needs to prove he can build on that. 3m2f winner in April 2023; returned from break with very encouraging 2m4f run in December. |
The hat-trick seeking JONGLEUR D'ETOILES supplemented his breakthrough victory at Wincanton when accounting for Edgewell at Catterick on New Year's Day. A 6lb higher mark is unlikely to be the ceiling of the six-year-old's ability and he rates as the one to beat. Edgewell may have to play second fiddle to the selection once more on only 1lb better terms, while the consistent Just Chasing May is likely to give another good account.
Neil Mulholland has been a master at taking low-grade handicappers on a winning sequence this season and that trend may continue with the progressive JONGLEUR D'ETOILES, who can overcome a 6 lb rise. Maiden Star Vantage finished third at Wetherby in a race that is working out particularly well, so he can run well and gain compensation at a later date. Edgewell, who chased home the selection last time out, should go well again if in the same form here.
Neil Mulholland's JONGLEUR D'ETOILES (nap) had to scrap hard to master Edgewell last month but can complete a hat-trick here.

1st (1) ![]() Alpine Trail |
4/9(+63%) | (1) Alpine Trail 4/9, Dubawi colt cost €550,000 as a yearling, Half-brother to French 2-y-o 7f winner Palazzo (by War Front). Dam 1½m (Prix de Royaumont) winner from an excellent family. Exciting prospect from top yard has to enter calculations. 550,000euros half-brother to 7f 2yo winner in France; dam a Group 3 winner; lots to like. |

2nd (3) ![]() Paratrooper |
5/1(-100%) | (3) Paratrooper 5/1, Frankel colt is a half-brother to 1,000 Guineas runner-up Cloak of Spirits. Dam closely related to high-class winner up to 1m Dubawi. Outstanding pedigree and one for the shortlist on debut. Half-brother to 1,000 Guineas second Cloak Of Spirits (RPR 111); yard rich in young talent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Baikal |
16/1(-129%) | (5) Baikal 16/1, Promising type has been well-supported in market on her first two runs. Slightly disappointed when beaten at odds-on, third of 6 in maiden at Newcastle (8f, 4/5) 23 days ago but clearly connections think she's useful. Beaten at short odds in two 1m runs this winter; improvement required for the longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Motawaared |
6/1(-20%) | (2) Motawaared 6/1, Mohaather gelding cost 75,000gns as a yearling Closely related to 1¼m winner Pawpaw (by Showcasing) and half-brother to 9f-11f winner Rollajam (by Belardo). Dam, maiden (stayed 1½m), half-sister to very smart 6f-1m winner Lend A Hand. One to note in the betting on racecourse bow. 75,000gns yearling; three winning siblings; gelded last summer; others make more appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Staffordshire |
9/1(+18%) | (4) Staffordshire 9/1, Ghaiyyath gelding show ability on debut when fourth of 8 in a maiden at Kempton (11f) on debut 12 days ago. having been keen early. Will have learned plenty and should build on that effort now down in trip on second start. Ran with more promise than a near 15l defeat would indicate on debut; capable of better. |
This is likely to go to one of the newcomers, with PARATROOPER, a half-brother to 1000 Guineas runner-up Cloak Of Spirits, suggested as the first one to consider. The son of Frankel has little to fear from starting out on the all-weather and appeals with his yard remaining in good form. The Godolphin-owned Alpine Trail, a 550,000-euro yearling, is related to several winners and is an obvious threat on paper. Similar comments apply to Motawaared, who can only benefit from this debut run.
Charlie Appleby has been successful with his last three 3 year-old colts/geldings in the U.K (including one on debut) and ALPINE TRAIL is taken to continue that fine run of form by making a successful racecourse bow. Paratrooper is a half-brother to a 1000 Guineas runner-up and is feared, while Baikal should be competitive with racecourse experience under her belt.
Paratrooper and ALPINE TRAIL are newcomers of note and the latter can enhance his trainer's superb strike-rate in AW novice events.

1st (5) ![]() Peckforton Hills |
11/4(+21%) | (5) Peckforton Hills 11/4, Youmzain gelding who offered something to work on when fifth of 8 on his C&D debut (soft) at the beginning of December. May do better. One of the main form contenders judged on his effort in a C&D contest. |

2nd (4) ![]() Noble George |
5/2(-11%) | (4) Noble George 5/2, Order of St George gelding who offered something to work on when second of 6 on Sedgefield debut in December. Best of those with Rules experience. Bred to do well in bumpers; duly showed promise at Sedgefield; warrants respect. |

3rd (1) ![]() Eagle's Cairn |
25/1(0%) | (1) Eagle's Cairn 25/1, 22/1 and offered no short-term promise when well held on his Ayr debut 4 weeks ago. Brings the worst piece of form, having achieved little at Ayr. |

4th (6) ![]() They Want Me |
6/5(+20%) | (6) They Want Me 6/5, Cost £70,000 after winning his sole point a year ago. From a good family and a likely type for a stable which does well in bumpers here. Form of his Irish point success has been boosted; interesting rules debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() La Tarantaise |
33/1(-175%) | (2) La Tarantaise 33/1, 20/1, seventh of 8 in bumper at Newcastle (17f, good to soft) on debut 18 days ago. Needs to have a come on a lot. Only seventh of eight at Newcastle; doesn't look an imminent winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Lyndon Red |
17/2(-6%) | (3) Lyndon Red 17/2, Out of a bumper/2m hurdle winner but looks more one for the longer term himself judged on his opening sixth of 7 at Musselburgh in November. Only sixth of seven at Musselburgh; others have stronger claims. |
Noble George offered plenty of encouragement on his second-placed debut at Sedgefield in December and the five-year-old sets a good standard for the others to aim at. However, 2m4f point-to-point winner THEY WANT ME won't be found lacking for stamina on his Rules bow and he could have too much class for these rivals. Peckforton Hills is the pick of the remainder.
Those with bumper experience don't set the bar that high so perhaps this can go to Donald McCain's THEY WANT ME, who had a subsequent bumper winner behind him in second when landing an Irish point a year ago. Noble George can give him most to do.
Irish point winner THEY WANT ME appears to have very solid claims. Noble George and Peckforton Hills look the chief dangers.

KING OF KINGSFIELD played an important role when acting as pacemaker for Brighterdaysahead in the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Hurdle at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting and will appreciate this drop in class. He was a smart novice over hurdles last season and his younger legs may give him the edge over Sir Gerhard, whose impressive CV includes the Champion Bumper and Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival but he needs to step up on two below-par hurdle outings here this season. Zoffanien and Cut The Rope are others to note, while first reserve Galvin would add plenty of interest if getting a run.
High-class hurdlers KING OF KINGSFIELD and Sir Gerhard look the ones to focus on, with narrow preference for the former.

Bred to be much better than this grade; up in trip for handicap debut; betting to guide. |

5/2(+17%) | (2) Invincible Melody 5/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 9 in novice at Kempton (6f, 11/2) 19 days ago. 7/1(-40%) | (6) Risk 7/1, Fourth of 11 in a nursery at Southwell (6.1f, 28/1) 46 days ago, staying on but never nearer. Extra furlong should help but needs to improve. Kept on from poor position over 6f latest; has ability & 7f can help; not straightforward. |

4th (8) ![]() Kaleidoscope Eyes |
17/2(-55%) | (8) Kaleidoscope Eyes 17/2, Clearly well-suited to 7f and career-best when winning 8-runner handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, dominating from the front. Up 6 lb but would be dangerous to dismiss. Made all to win a 0-55 over C&D in good style two weeks ago; up 6lb in a better race. |

5th (7) ![]() Rogue Endeavour |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Rogue Endeavour 50/1, Failed to build on minor promise shown when 20/1, seventh of 8 in a handicap at Kempton (6f) 14 days ago. Best to look elsewhere. Dropped 16lb in four low-key handicap runs; others have less to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Makes Me Wonder |
11/1(-10%) | (9) Makes Me Wonder 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 8 in a nursery at Lingfield (6f, AW, 10/3) 34 days ago, still too green to do himself justice. Could be a longer-term project. Fluffed his lines on nursery debut (6f) but this trip is more suitable and he's unexposed. |

7th (5) ![]() Inconspicuous |
10/1(-18%) | (5) Inconspicuous 10/1, Ran well when blinkered for first time (having left Gay Kelleway) when fourth of 7 in a handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 10 days ago. Up 2 furlongs and could build on promising stable debut. Back to form on stable debut (5f) ten days ago; stamina for 7f still to be proven. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Arlecchino's Rex |
4/1(0%) | (4) Arlecchino's Rex 4/1, C&D winner. Winner here in November. Good second of 11 in a handicap at Kempton (7f, 13/2) 19 days ago, travelled well but couldn't live with progressive winner. Good claims in first time hood. C&D win in November; solid runs off this mark twice since; new hood needs to prompt extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Memardee |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Memardee 22/1, Fifth of 6 in a maiden (15/2) at Newcastle (7.1f) 20 days ago, underperformed and needs to bounce back. No improvement for 7f at Newcastle last month; vulnerable to improvers. |
KALEIDOSCOPE EYES came good on several promising starts when she made all over C&D a fortnight ago. The Mick Appleby-trained filly has the capacity to follow up off 6lb higher now she has proven that cheekpieces are an effective aid. Invincible Melody debuts in a handicap from a workable mark and, with a tongue-tie/blinkers combination tried, could have more to give now he steps up in trip. Previous track and trip winner Arlecchino's Rex is another to consider with new headgear added.
ARLECCHINO'S REX travelled well when finishing second at Kempton last month and was only bettered by a more progressive rival. He can go one better in a first-time hood, ahead of interesting handicap debutante Invincible Melody and Blue Anthem, who both represent excellent yards. C&D winner Kaleidoscope Eyes could be dangerous if allowed to dictate matters from the front.
Blue Anthem and Invincible Melody should do better but so too can MAKES ME WONDER and he's preferred now back up in trip.

15/2(-25%) | (3) Piranha Rama 15/2, Three wins from 12 runs last year. Latest win at Chelmsford City in November. Below part on last two occasions, latest 17/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 14 days ago. Three 6f wins as a 2yo; only midfield the last twice and 7f asks a new question of her. |

33/1(+0%) | (6) Berning Hot 33/1, Fared no better when last of 8 in handicap (40/1) at Kempton (6f) 14 days ago, having been slowly away. Others have stronger claims. Well beaten in two runs for new yard this winter; down in weights but others much safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Khutulun |
11/4(-10%) | (5) Khutulun 11/4, Mohaather filly who made a successful handicap debut in first-time cheekpieces over 7f in September and backed that up when runner-up at Wolverhampton (7.2f) a month later. Wasn't disgraced back from 76 days off when creditable sixth of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f). Back at 7f with claims. Chelmsford win on h'cap debut; 2 sound efforts have followed; needs more to defy this mark. |

5th (9) ![]() Miakoda |
11/2(+21%) | (9) Miakoda 11/2, Well-backed on first run since leaving Richard Hannon when sixth of 8 in handicap (6/4) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) before not seen to best effect in blinkers (removed today) when seventh of 8 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 14 days ago. Interesting to see if market support comes his way in first-time hood. Disappointed in two runs for new stable; stamina for 7f not assured; new headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Fortunas Dream |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Fortunas Dream 13/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Tongue strap on for 1st time, eighth of 12 in novice at Southwell (8.1f, 22/1) 15 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Others more persuasive. Seemed to run well on 2nd start but the field finished in a heap; improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Watkins |
3/1(+75%) | (4) Watkins 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue strap on for 1st time, last of 10 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 17 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time and one to note in betting given connections. Not easily recommended but new blinkers could help and Billy Loughnane back on board today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Mystical Elegance |
20/1(+60%) | (8) Mystical Elegance 20/1, 66/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 8 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 20 days ago. Up in trip but others make much more appeal. Struggling for current yard but down in the weights and returning to 7f can help. |
All of these have questions to answer and with that in mind, it could be worth chancing that PIRANHA RAMA can provide a bit of value on just her fifth start on the all-weather. The surprise winner of a nursery over 6f at Chelmsford three starts back, stepping up to 7f could elicit another step forward from David Evans' filly. Khutulun is the most obvious danger coming back in trip, despite running off 5lb above her only previous winning mark. Ornately also commands respect.
KHUTULUN perhaps wasn't best-suited by the mile last time and is still in good form, so she hets the nod. Ornately is a fascinating handicap debutante who is bred to be much better than her current mark.
Khutulun is a solid contender but the unexposed ORNATELY appeals as the type to do well in handicaps this year.

3rd (2) ![]() Unknown Journey |
6/1(+63%) | (2) Unknown Journey 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fair fourth of 6 in handicap at this course (9.5f, 18/1) 23 days ago. Up in trip. Blinkers on 1st time. Considered. Some optimism for 1m4f on pedigree but he needs improvement for it; blinkers now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() No Release |
4/1(-20%) | (5) No Release 4/1, 7/2, good second of 9 in handicap at this course (8.6f) 2 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. 2nd twice at Chelmsford last year & again over 8.6f here on Saturday when wandering late. |
PATROL accounted for Unknown Journey (fourth) when occupying the runner-up berth over an extended 1m1f here last month and is expected to confirm that form to make it two wins out of his last three starts. As for the latter, he sports first-time blinkers which might help him get closer to the selection, along with being 5lb better off this time around. Sydney Whistler hasn't shown a lot in three starts to date but may prove a different proposition now that he tackles the handicap ranks.
JONNY GARLIC can race off just a 1 lb higher mark than when an excellent recent runner-up at Lingfield so looks the way to go provided he is none the worse for his exertions here on Saturday. Patrol rates the main danger on the back of a solid second here last time out, with Unknown Journey also in the picture.
Stamina is a query for all five runners but PATROL is on the up for his new yard and looks the safest option.

11/1(+0%) | (6) Wedgewood 11/1, Three-time C&D winner. Creditable second of 8 in handicap at Bath (5f, good to firm) when last seen in September. Contender if fully primed after a break. Better on AW than turf but that's reflected in her mark; career best required after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) ![]() Level Up |
2/1(+27%) | (3) Level Up 2/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 21 runs last year. Creditable second of 8 in handicap at Southwell (5f, 7/2) 4 days ago. Claims if in similar form under Rossa Ryan. Good 2nd at Southwell latest; 2lb lower today; 3-5 when ridden by Rossa Ryan; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Antiphon |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Antiphon 28/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2024. 12/1, last of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford (5f) 18 days ago. Can only watch at present. Finished last in two runs for new yard; dangerous mark; type to come good soon. |
BURABACK successfully completed a course-and-distance double when scoring by over a length in this grade last month. Derek Shaw's six-year-old is only 5lb higher compared to his most recent success and could go in again. Gustav Graves is in good heart after hitting the crossbar at Newcastle last time and should be thereabouts off 1lb higher, while previous C&D winner Wedgewood is another to consider.
Derek Shaw holds a strong hand, with GUSTAV GRAVES taken to deny Buraback a C&D hat-trick. Recent Southwell runner-up Level Up should also be on the premises under Rossa Ryan.
This can be fought out by Nelson Gay and LEVEL UP. The selection went close off 2lb higher last week and is 3-5 for Rossa Ryan.

1st (1) ![]() Easter Icon |
7/1(+7%) | (1) Easter Icon 7/1, Course winner who is fit from hurdling (every chance when unseated last at Southwell 7 weeks ago). On a competitive mark. Dual-purpose performer; last Flat win was at this track; has claims back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Daaris |
9/4(+10%) | (3) Daaris 9/4, Course winner over 1¾m in December and good placed efforts on all 3 outings since. Big player with Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle. Consistent sort but has overall record of 2-32 and he needs to find more back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Sir Joseph Swan |
10/1(+9%) | (5) Sir Joseph Swan 10/1, Below-form fifth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (16.5f, 13/2) 11 days ago. Bounce back needed. Only 1lb higher than for last win but he was tailed off latest and needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Grand Duchess Olga |
10/1(-150%) | (2) Grand Duchess Olga 10/1, Good second of 7 in handicap (16/1) at this course (1¾m) 21 days ago, having run of race from front. Respected from an unchanged mark. Triple AW winner who was only just caught over 1m6f here latest; respected back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (4) ![]() Payment Plan |
5/6(+39%) | (4) Payment Plan 5/6, Progressive since stepped up to 2m, making it 3 wins in last 4 starts when seeing off 10 rivals here 16 days ago. A 4 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Won on Tapeta in three of his last four runs including over C&D latest; big player again. |
PAYMENT PLAN readily justified favouritism over C&D on his latest outing and a 4lb rise might prove to be on the lenient side. With lots in his favour again, he can continue his fine form to make it four wins out of his last five starts. Grand Duchess Olga was beaten a neck into second over 1m6f at this track last month and is likely to be on the premises along with Daaris, who was a place behind the five-year-old.
The in-form DAARIS has the services of Rossa Ryan and gets a narrow vote ahead of the thriving Payment Plan. Grand Duchess Olga is another who shouldn't be far away in a tight staying event.
The vote goes to the progressive PAYMENT PLAN, who has won three of his last four including a comfortable success over C&D 16 days ago.

1st (6) ![]() High Court Judge |
5/4(+23%) | (6) High Court Judge 5/4, C&D winner who completed his hat-trick in 10-runner minor event (4/9) at Lingfield (12f, AW) 10 days ago. Scored with plenty in hand there so a player back in handicap company. Completed hat-trick with easy win at Lingfield (1m4f); big player again back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Moon Over The Sea |
17/2(+6%) | (8) Moon Over The Sea 17/2, 4-time course winner. Three wins from 13 runs last year. Latest win here in December. 5/2, eighth of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (12f, AW) 25 days ago so needs to get back on track. Won over C&D in December but he flopped in his follow-up bid at Lingfield; risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Harlington |
9/2(+55%) | (9) Harlington 9/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. 12/1, creditable second of 6 in handicap at this C&D 16 days ago, well positioned. In the picture. Dual course winner who has finished second at Lingfield and over C&D last twice; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Lawmans Blis |
18/1(+10%) | (5) Lawmans Blis 18/1, 4-time course winner. Three wins from 7 runs last year. 40/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, fifth of 7 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f) 10 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Well held in both runs this winter but he's well treated if he can get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Pysanka |
6/1(+45%) | (2) Pysanka 6/1, 4-time C&D winner. Three wins from 13 runs last year. 13/2, last of 8 in handicap at this C&D 9 days ago, left poorly placed. Sort to bounce back. All four wins have been over C&D but he was disappointing here last time; mixed messages. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Lightningboltzoom |
5/2(+62%) | (4) Lightningboltzoom 5/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 15/2, good second of 11 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f) 19 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Unexposed 4yo who went close on handicap debut at Southwell (1m3f); interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Doyouknowmyuncles |
66/1(-32%) | (11) Doyouknowmyuncles 66/1, 80/1, last of 9 in handicap at Kempton (12f), very slowly away. Off over 2 years. First run for yard after leaving Jimmy Fox. Has generally struggled in her 13 runs and can only be watched back from a massive absence. |
High Court Judge had little difficulty in landing the spoils in classified company at Southwell and Lingfield last month, but he is now 15lb higher than his C&D triumph in early January. That hefty hike in the handicap undoubtedly demands more of James Owen's charge and he may be worth taking on with the unexposed LIGHTNINGBOLTZOOM. The four-year-old arrives on the back of second-placed handicap bow over 1m3f at the Nottinghamshire venue and this longer trip should suit. Harlington is also of interest.
HIGH COURT JUDGE continues to thrive for James Owen and is hard to side against in his bid for a four-timer after his easy Lingfield success last time. Newcastle runner-up Busby is weighted to go close and next on the list ahead of the unexposed duo Incan Empire and Lightningboltzoom.
The most striking contender is HIGH COURT JUDGE (nap), who has won his last three starts including an emphatic success last time.

1st (3) ![]() Just Ten High |
11/4(-22%) | (3) Just Ten High 11/4, Three wins from 10 runs last year. Latest win at Southwell in December. 9/4, creditable second of 10 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 30 days ago. Huge chance off this 1 lb higher mark. Big improver since handicapping; not fully exposed over 6f; well drawn & high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Southbank |
10/3(+26%) | (2) Southbank 10/3, C&D winner. Four wins from 17 runs last year. Latest win at Chelmsford City in December. Creditable second of 12 in handicap at this C&D (10/3) 38 days ago. Likely to be on the premises once again. Two fine runs in December, 2nd to a thriving rival over C&D latest; R Ryan booked; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Thismydream |
16/1(-45%) | (5) Thismydream 16/1, Course winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 12 days ago. Back up in trip and visor refitted. Opposable. Looked a hard ride at Lingfield latest; fair mark but others look stronger in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Autumn Angel |
6/1(+20%) | (7) Autumn Angel 6/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in January. Fifth of 7 in handicap (2/1) at this C&D 16 days ago. Shouldn't be judged too harshly on that and it'd be no surprise to see her bounce back with a bold show. Two C&D wins this winter; had excuses here last time and type to bounce back quickly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Sir Rodneyredblood |
18/1(+28%) | (6) Sir Rodneyredblood 18/1, Last of 8 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 25/1) 19 days ago and he looks set for another struggle. Not at best in recent starts and he has other pace influences to deal with today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Shalaa Asker |
10/1(+29%) | (4) Shalaa Asker 10/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. 13/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 19 days ago. Back up in trip and he looks vulnerable. Dropped to a good mark but hasn't looked like exploiting it for new stable this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Porfin |
5/1(+17%) | (8) Porfin 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Lingfield in January. 5/2, creditable second of 9 in minor event at Southwell (7.1f) 4 days ago. Visor on 1st time and he has to enter calculations. In good form last month and he's a leading contender back in a handicap; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() King's Crown |
5/1(-43%) | (1) King's Crown 5/1, 7/2, won 9-runner handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 10 days ago. 3 lb nudge easy enough to swallow but, as his strike rate (2-33) illustrates, he's no winning machine and will probably find one or two too good this time. Ended losing run at Southwell ten days ago; still has handicapping scope up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Next Second |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Next Second 80/1, Four-time course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2024. Seventh of 8 in handicap at this course (5.1f, 18/1) 14 days ago. Others make more appeal for win purposes. Went close over 5f here last month but unplaced in all eight 6f runs. |
JUST TEN HIGH had subsequent winner and reopposing rival King's Crown (fourth) behind him when finishing a close-up second at Southwell last month and compensation could be imminent. A 1lb rise may prove to be on the lenient side for Dylan Cunha's gelding and he's preferred to fellow in-form rival Southbank. The son of Acclamation arrives on the back of a runner-up effort over C&D and another good account is forecast, while the aforementioned King's Crown warrants respect in his current heart.
The vote goes to JUST TEN HIGH, who has returned to form in this headgear combination the last twice, regaining the winning thread at Southwell over Christmas prior to going down narrowly at the same course a week later. There's no reason to believe that he won't be just as effective here. Porfin has also been in good form and is next on the list ahead of Autumn Angel, who was holding her form well, too, prior to what was probably a mere blip over this C&D recently.
Just Ten High isn't fully exposed as a sprinter but SOUTHBANK could find this being run to suit and he's preferred.

1st (7) ![]() Sisters In The Sky |
17/2(+15%) | (7) Sisters In The Sky 17/2, C&D winner. Four wins from 26 runs last year. Fifth of 7 in handicap (14/1) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 12 days ago, merely closing up late. Others look stronger. Four wins last year, including C&D; came up short in Class 5 latest; this is more suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Cooperation |
9/4(-38%) | (2) Cooperation 9/4, Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. 15/2, very good second of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 10 days ago. Merits consideration. Good run behind King's Crown (runs 8.00) at Southwell ten days ago; up 2lb but solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Not Just Yet |
6/1(+25%) | (3) Not Just Yet 6/1, One win from 26 Flat runs. 22/1, respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, slowly away. Place possibilities. Talented in relation to his rating but does a lot wrong in his races; needs a strong pace. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Kensington Agent |
9/2(+44%) | (4) Kensington Agent 9/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Windsor in August. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (5/1). Off 135 days but won't be far away if raring to go. Conditions to suit and still feasibly treated; market useful after 135 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Zaman Daar |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Zaman Daar 4/1, Respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D (12/1) 49 days ago, very slowly away. Should be in the mix. On a winning mark; reappearance effort here wasn't without hope; could yet rate higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Global Effort |
7/1(+30%) | (8) Global Effort 7/1, C&D winner. Creditable third of 10 in minor event at this C&D (4/1) 9 days ago. Visor back on and this 5-y-o looks sure to be involved in the finish. C&D win in November; third in four runs last month; needs to pull out more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Alabama Belle |
25/1(-150%) | (6) Alabama Belle 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1 and hooded for 1st time, last of 6 in maiden at Kempton (6f) 26 days ago. Improvement needed now handicapping. Needs to leave novice/maiden form behind now h'capping but that's not out of the question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Nevernay |
17/2(+29%) | (5) Nevernay 17/2, Seventh of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 20/1) 24 days ago. Has slipped to an attractive mark and, though 0-11, he could have a say if responding well to the new heagear (sports a first-time hood and tongue strap). 11-race maiden; quiet the last twice; accessories could spark a revival. |
COOPERATION's close-up second at Southwell 10 days ago can be upgraded after switching left of the field at a pivotal point. That was only the seven-year-old's second outing under the tutelage of Mick Appleby and a seventh career victory looms. A 135-day break may have freshened up triple C&D winner Kensington Agent and market support for Tony Carroll's mare must be noted. Not Just Yet is another to consider reverting to class 6 company.
ZAMAN DAAR and Cooperation both arrive here on the back of eye-catching efforts and while the latter is not passed over lightly following his near miss at Southwell, marginal preference is for Ismail Mohammed's representative. Indeed, Zaman Daar did well to finish as close as he did when returning from a break over C&D in December and he's been eased 2 lb since. Global Effort and Nevernay are others to consider.
Cooperation and Nevernay can feature but it might be worth chancing topweight ZAMAN DAAR, who could yet rate higher.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
