1st (5) (5/4 +0%) Cervetto |
5/4(+0%) | (5) Cervetto 5/4, Thrice-raced maiden. 25/1, first run since leaving William Jarvis when fifth of 9 in maiden at Wolverhampton (5f) 21 days ago. Back up in trip. Potential improver in handicaps. Very lightly raced 4yo who has potential off opening mark, especially back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/2 -5%) Mumayaz |
7/2(-5%) | (4) Mumayaz 7/2, Twenty one runs since last win in 2021 but he can't be knocked for consistency, finishing runner-up 9 times on his last 10 starts, the latest over C&D 11 days ago. Frustrating, having been second in nine of last ten races, but can be bang there once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 +36%) Impeach |
16/1(+36%) | (3) Impeach 16/1, Course winner. Latest win at Chelmsford in November. Eighth of 11 in handicap (40/1) at Kempton (6f) 16 days ago, merely closing up late. Won at Chelmsford in October but down the field here and at Kempton the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/2 -11%) Finn Russell |
5/2(-11%) | (2) Finn Russell 5/2, Course winner. Three wins from 10 runs last year. Good fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7f, 15/8) 7 days ago, doing too much too soon. Still looks on a good mark. Three wins towards end of last year; could still have more to offer on AW; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 -87%) Triggered |
14/1(-87%) | (1) Triggered 14/1, C&D winner. Four wins from 15 runs last year. Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. 18/1, last of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 38 days ago. Four 7f wins last year (including C&D) and he's one to consider back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (22/1 +12%) Bishop's Glory |
22/1(+12%) | (6) Bishop's Glory 22/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in November. Respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7f, 28/1) 14 days ago. Others more persuasive. Won at Wolverhampton in November but merely mid-division there the next twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Placed in 10 of his last 11 starts, MUMAYAZ scores very highly for reliability and is presented with a good opportunity to finally gain a first success since joining the Tony Carroll yard. Competing off his last winning mark from his time in Ireland, the five-year-old is also versatile regarding the trip and has too much in his favour to ignore on these terms. Finn Russell is feared most, although Triggered is not one to dismiss lightly.
FINN RUSSELL did too much too soon at Newcastle last time and can show he's still on a good mark and ensure that Mumayaz has to settle for the runner-up berth yet again. Cervetto is one to keep an eye on in the betting now moving into his first handicap.
The very lightly 4yo CERVETTO could be on a handy mark for this handicap debut, especially now back up in trip, and he earns the vote.

1st (4) (5/2 +9%) Springtime Promise |
5/2(+9%) | (4) Springtime Promise 5/2, No significant impact in 3 outings under Rules but she did land a couple of points in October prior to making a successful start for the Fergal O'Brien yard in a 20.5f Huntingdon mares' novice hurdle 14 days ago. Has the potential to build on that and leading claims. Likeable prospect who won on recent stable debut at Huntingdon; can go well once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (12/1 -167%) Condesa |
12/1(-167%) | (1) Condesa 12/1, Returned from a very long absence to win a 2m Perth novice hurdle in July. Seemed to find 2½m on heavy ground stretching her when remote fourth back at Perth in September but connections evidently happy to persevere at the trip. Well beaten when last seen but a break may have helped; won previously; retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/2 +29%) Micks Jet |
5/2(+29%) | (6) Micks Jet 5/2, Cheltenham bumper winner last spring who was also third in a listed bumper there in November. Ran to only a modest level when fourth on Wetherby hurdle debut on Boxing Day but she should be wiser with that experience under her belt and her bumper ability suggests she can do better. Bumper winner; only fourth at Wetherby on hurdle debut but open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/2 -11%) Getaway Theatre |
5/2(-11%) | (2) Getaway Theatre 5/2, Point winner who was well suited by emphasis on stamina when making a successful hurdle debut over 2¾m at Stratford in November. Hasn't matched that form in defeat since, although she did have the reopposing Southern Babylon behind her when sixth in a Haydock listed race last month. Listed sixth at Haydock last month and she's a key player now back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/2 +31%) Southern Babylon |
9/2(+31%) | (3) Southern Babylon 9/2, 80,000 gns purchase after placing in an Irish point in May 2022 and confirmed the promise of her hurdling debut when landing 13-runner maiden at Market Rasen (20.5f) in November. Not up to a listed novice at Haydock since but can fare better back in these calmer waters. Won at Market Rasen then heavy ground may have been too much in Listed race at Haydock. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (66/1 -32%) Cantalupo Bella |
66/1(-32%) | (8) Cantalupo Bella 66/1, Modest maiden on the Flat who came in a remote third in a 17f course juvenile on her hurdle debut in November. Achieved more when mid-field in a novice at Newcastle since but unlikely to be of interest in this sphere until handicapping. The step up in trip may help on her third hurdle start, but it very much needs to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (33/1 -106%) March Wind |
33/1(-106%) | (5) March Wind 33/1, Showed fair form when runner-up in bumpers at Wetherby and Newcastle last spring but well below that level when a remote sixth on her 2m Kelso hurdle debut 12 days ago. Needs to have come on a lot in a short time. Runner-up in both bumpers; well beaten on hurdle debut but could be sharper for the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (300/1 -200%) Western Glen |
300/1(-200%) | (7) Western Glen 300/1, Well held in 2 bumpers and a maiden hurdle. Hooded first time. Outsider. Well beaten at big odds in both bumpers and on last month's hurdle debut at Musselburgh. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SPRINGTIME PROMISE made a winning return to racing under Rules on her debut for Fergal O'Brien at Huntingdon a couple of weeks ago and she is hard to oppose on the back of that performance. Getaway Theatre struggled in Listed company last time but should not be underestimated at this level, while Condesa and Southern Babylon are others to consider.
A few with chances in this opening mares' novice. SPRINGTIME PROMISE has the potential to build on her recent winning debut for the Fergal O'Brien yard and gets the nod. Micks Jet's bumper ability suggests she could step up on the form of her opening hurdle run at Wetherby on Boxing Day and she's second choice ahead of Getaway Theatre.
The Fergal O'Brien-trained SPRINGTIME PROMISE is taken to make it 2-2 for the yard having won at Huntingdon recently.

1st (6) (6/1 +25%) Ballybentragh |
6/1(+25%) | (6) Ballybentragh 6/1, £100,000 6-y-o, Fame And Glory gelding. Half-brother to smart hurdler/chaser Bright New Dawn, stayed 3m, and useful 2m hurdle winner Lyrical Theatre. Winning Irish pointer, runner-up on all 3 other starts (latest Oct 28). Makes plenty of appeal on Rules debut. Never out of the first two in Irish points and latest second has worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/10 +63%) Southoftheborder |
3/10(+63%) | (3) Southoftheborder 3/10, Point winner who made a successful Rules debut in Ffos Las bumper last March and followed up in stylish fashion in a C&D maiden hurdle 8 months later. Looked in a spot of bother when unseating 2 out back here since but it was a Grade 2 and he's a leading contender back in calmer waters. Heavy ground may have been troubling him when losing unbeaten record in a Grade 2. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (16/1 -14%) El Saviour |
16/1(-14%) | (1) El Saviour 16/1, Runner-up on his sole outing in Irish points in April 2022 and went one better in a Warwick novice in November, asserting final 100 yds. Possibly found race coming too soon when tailed off under a penalty at Plumpton next time but has something to prove nonetheless. Won a weak race at Warwick; ground wasn't soft enough for him at Plumpton; penalised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (50/1 -52%) Gower Prince |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Gower Prince 50/1, Showed a bit on the first of 3 starts in bumpers for Matt Sheppard but too free both outings over hurdles for new yard since returning from a 13-month absence. Others have shown plenty more and it could be that he needs good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (40/1 +20%) Kingoftheswingerz |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Kingoftheswingerz 40/1, Modest in bumpers and showed an aptitude for hurdling when third of 9 in a novice hurdle at Wincanton (19.8f, heavy, 50/1) 38 days ago. This asks for a good deal more, however. Improved third at Wincanton but was well held; hard to envisage him winning this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (25/1 -56%) Ballybay |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Ballybay 25/1, Sent off favourite but faded into seventh in a big-field bumper at the 2022 Punchestown Festival (only start for Willie Mullins). Not seen since but still worth checking out in the betting now hurdling for in-form Gary Moore. Hood added. Well held in one bumper for Willie Mullins in April 2022; returns in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/1 +29%) All Authorized |
5/1(+29%) | (4) All Authorized 5/1, Brother to useful 2m hurdle winner I Am Maximus and made ideal start when landing a Fontwell bumper in ready fashion in April. Didn't look entirely straightforward under a penalty at Ascot on return but shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on his Lingfield hurdle bow and should improve. Useful bumper form; let down by his jumping on hurdling debut at Lingfield. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (125/1 -25%) Parsons Stone |
125/1(-25%) | (9) Parsons Stone 125/1, Modest at best in bumpers and ran to just a poor level on Chepstow hurdle debut. Off 9 months. 33-1 for hurdle debut at Chepstow and was again well held; up against it once more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Southoftheborder was sent off favourite for a Grade 2 event here when he fell with two to jump, but he was weakening at the time and it looked unlikely that he would have won. However, this is a lot easier, so he could have a say but still play second fiddle to ROCK HOUSE, who sets the standard with a rating of 126 and can be forgiven for his underwhelming first handicap start at Kempton last month. Dan Skelton's six-year-old could bounce back from that display and put these to the sword. Ballybentragh is another to watch out for.
SOUTHOFTHEBORDER looked in a spot of bother when unseating his rider 2 out in a Grade 2 here last month, but he's clearly held in high regard and can resume winning ways now returned to calmer waters. Ballybentragh makes plenty of appeal on paper and is the pick of Gary Moore's trio before market clues. Rock House could easily bounce back and is respected.
All Authorized commands respect but, now downgraded from a Grade 2 here, SOUTHOFTHEBORDER looks the one to be with.

1st (2) (3/1 -71%) Queen Of Atlantis |
3/1(-71%) | (2) Queen Of Atlantis 3/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after wins at Wolverhampton (8.6f) and Southwell (1m) in recent weeks. This step up to 1¼m should suit and she might be able to defy the handicapper again. Wins over 8.6f/1m on Tapeta the last twice and today's step up in trip could be a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/3 +5%) Alfred |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Alfred 10/3, Three wins from 10 runs last year, including first 2 runs for this yard on AW in November. Freshened up since finishing last of 5 at Chelmsford 6 weeks ago. No surprise were he to resume his progression. Two wins on Tapeta before lesser show on Polytrack, but no surprise if he bounces back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/6 +45%) Lavender Hill Mob |
5/6(+45%) | (3) Lavender Hill Mob 5/6, Thrice-raced winner. 10/11, won 8-runner novice at this course (1m) 22 days ago, readily. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. May well do better. Won 1m novice here last time and pedigree provides optimism he'll continue to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -140%) Turing |
18/1(-140%) | (4) Turing 18/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in novice at Southwell (11f) 17 days ago. Visor on first time. Makes handicap debut. Mixed form across his three starts but promise on middle outing; goes h'capping in a visor. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Alfred made good strides last year and has impressed in winning two of his three starts since joining George Boughey's stable. However, he has paid the penalty and now looks vulnerable off 8lb higher than his last winning mark. With that in mind, it might pay to side with the hat-trick seeking QUEEN OF ATLANTIS, who still has room to move off her current rating and may find more improvement now stepped up in trip. Handicap debutant Lavender Hill Mob completes the shortlist.
There could be more to come from QUEEN OF ATLANTIS now stepping up to 1¼m so she's taken to complete the hat-trick. Course novice winner Lavender Hill Mob is another who might benefit from the extra yardage and is feared most.
The well-bred LAVENDER HILL MOB (nap) got off the mark in a 1m novice here three weeks ago and could have plenty more to offer.

1st (6) (7/2 +50%) Coup De Gold |
7/2(+50%) | (6) Coup De Gold 7/2, On a long losing run but arrives in decent form, sixth of 12 in handicap hurdle here (19.8f, heavy) 14 days ago. No forlorn hope. Has very modest strike-rate but is pretty consistent and runs this track well; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (4/1 +60%) Hide Out |
4/1(+60%) | (8) Hide Out 4/1, Long-standing maiden who was a creditable fourth in 2m Newcastle handicap hurdle 34 days ago. Place prospects off a 2 lb lower mark. 0-24 over hurdles but hasn't been with current yard long and ran quite well last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5/1 +38%) Feach Amach |
5/1(+38%) | (7) Feach Amach 5/1, Fair maiden on the Flat for Jim Bolger and improved plenty on opening hurdles exploits when landing C&D juvenile in November. Pulled up on her handicap debut at Wincanton since though so she has a bit to prove. Fairly useful on the Flat in Ireland and won C&D juvenile hurdle in November; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (16/1 +36%) Robin Goodfellow |
16/1(+36%) | (9) Robin Goodfellow 16/1, Maiden hurdler who came in only eighth of 12 in handicap here (19.8f, heavy) 14 days ago. Others appeal more. 100-1 third over C&D in November but unable to land a telling blow over 2m4f here recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3/1 -84%) Silver Vision |
3/1(-84%) | (4) Silver Vision 3/1, Capitalised on a much-reduced mark when a wide-margin winner of 10-runner handicap hurdle at Kelso (16.2f, heavy) 12 days ago. Leading claims under a 7 lb penalty. Not at easy one to predict but is 2lb well in under penalty for recent Kelso win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/1 +25%) Heros De Moutiers |
9/1(+25%) | (3) Heros De Moutiers 9/1, Still a maiden and well below par tried in blinkers then a hood in handicap chases on his last two runs. Handily weighted though if this switch to hurdling sparks a resurgence. Has lost his form over fences and now reverts to hurdling; would appeal more better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (6/1 -167%) Lady Berlais |
6/1(-167%) | (2) Lady Berlais 6/1, Got off the mark in 7-runner Fakenham handicap hurdle 38 days ago. Up 7 lb but she's not taken lightly in her current mood. Made all to win by 8l at Fakenham last month and an obvious contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (66/1 -450%) Uberrima Fides |
66/1(-450%) | (1) Uberrima Fides 66/1, Down the field all his completed starts over hurdles and well held on most recent Flat outing at Dundalk a week ago. Lots to prove back in this sphere. Well beaten when 66-1 for handicap hurdle debut; placed in low-grade AW race since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SILVER VISION took a huge step forward when winning by 16 lengths over 2m at Kelso 12 days ago and the five-year-old merits the utmost respect under just a 7lb penalty. Lady Berlais is another last-time-out winner and she could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although Coup De Gold and Hide Out should not be discounted.
SILVER VISION took full advantage of a tumbling mark when a wide-margin Kelso scorer last time and a 7 lb penalty doesn't look sufficient to prevent Stuart Coltherd's rejuvenated mare from following up. Dan Skelton's Lady Berlais rates the obvious threat, with in-form maiden Hide Out appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
Nigel Hawke's filly FEACH AMACH could not cope with heavy ground last time but she beat a good yardstick over C&D in November.

1st (6) (7/2 +22%) Georgi Girl |
7/2(+22%) | (6) Georgi Girl 7/2, Debut hurdles winner last season who arrives on the back of a very good Wincanton handicap second on Boxing Day. Player despite a 3 lb rise with few miles still on the clock. Went down only narrowly last time at Wincanton and she seems a willing mare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/1 -100%) Douglas Dc |
11/1(-100%) | (1) Douglas Dc 11/1, A fairly useful hurdler in Ireland for Gordon Elliott. Shaped well on his yard debut when fourth in handicap at Ascot (15.7f) but beat only one at Kempton 13 days ago. Still needs considering. Found everything happening too fast at Kempton behind the smart Rare Edition. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 +22%) Nashville Nipper |
7/1(+22%) | (4) Nashville Nipper 7/1, Landed 2m Plumpton handicap hurdle in January 2022 and resumed from a long absence with a good second of 3 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (17.7f, soft) 31 days ago. Weighted to go well. Back from an absence to push a well-in winner all the way at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/2 +10%) Front View |
9/2(+10%) | (2) Front View 9/2, Useful hurdler/chaser in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien in 2020/21. Has been given a chance by the handicapper and posted his best effort for current yard when second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Haydock (24.3f, heavy) 27 days ago. In the picture despite taking a big drop in trip. Recent placed efforts have been at 3m but this is a stiff track and he's running well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (14/1 +0%) Samtara |
14/1(+0%) | (8) Samtara 14/1, Had wind op/off 7 months before posting a below-par seventh of 11 in handicap hurdle (20/1) at Taunton (19f, good to soft) 43 days ago. Needs more with tongue strap back on. Perhaps needed the run at Taunton and he's a player on last season's best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/2 +0%) Macanogue |
9/2(+0%) | (3) Macanogue 9/2, Landed a gamble in 2m maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan last May. Sold out of Luke Comer's yard for £30,000 and runner-up both starts for his new yard in 2m novices at Stratford and Market Rasen. Much respected now going into handicaps. Winner in Ireland; behind good horses in his two British novice hurdles; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (15/2 +25%) Galahad Threepwood |
15/2(+25%) | (5) Galahad Threepwood 15/2, Fairly useful winner on the Flat for Mick Channon who opened his account over hurdles in 19.5f Doncaster handicap last March. Respectable sixth of 12 at Huntingdon last time so considered with cheekpieces added. Didn't run too badly last time at Huntingdon and cheekpieces could give him a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (11/2 -83%) Him Malaya |
11/2(-83%) | (7) Him Malaya 11/2, Got off the mark when landing 2m Wincanton handicap in November and backed it up with a solid third there following month. Form has been franked so he can go well again off the same mark. In form and Jody Sole has won this twice in recent seasons; player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Front View takes a big drop in distance after his runner-up effort over an extended 3m at Haydock last month and is an interesting contender off the same mark, but he could come out second best to NASHVILLE NIPPER. The veteran was only denied by a neck into second behind the well-handicapped For Pleasure last time out and he now takes a drop in grade, so looks the one to beat. Galahad Threepwood is another to note in first-time cheekpieces.
A few with chances but GEORGI GIRL signalled she's ready to add to her debut success when a very good runner-up at Wincanton on Boxing Day and can capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Nashville Nipper returned from a 22-month absence with an encouraging Fontwell second and is next on the list ahead of in-form pair Him Malaya and Macanogue.
A chance is taken on handicap debutant MACANOGUE who has chased home respected novices in both his British runs.

10/3(-77%) | (8) War Bride 10/3, Twice-raced maiden. 5/1, second of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 30 days ago. Boasts some solid form and should be on the premises. Runner-up at Wolverhampton on both starts, behind useful sort last time; one to consider. |

9/2(+44%) | (6) Harrier Man 9/2, Twice-raced maiden. 12/1, fifth of 9 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 48 days ago. Others make more appeal. Similar level of fair form on his two starts but improvement is needed today. |

Heathcliff caught the eye with a near-miss over this trip at Newcastle last month and should have more to give. However, WAR BRIDE has shown stacks of promise in two previous starts, with her most recent second at Wolverhampton a particularly strong form line, and the 5lb sex allowance swings the vote in her favour. Spirited Lad and newcomer Sergeants Legacy are others to monitor closely in the betting.
HEATHCLIFF still looked green when runner-up at Newcastle 48 days ago and, with another step forward likely, he gets the nod over War Bride, who has actually achieved a bit more than the selection to this point.
The filly WAR BRIDE has run well to finish second at Wolverhampton on her two starts and is taken to go one better here.

1st (2) (13/2 -44%) Gandhi Maker |
13/2(-44%) | (2) Gandhi Maker 13/2, Dual scorer over fences early last year, including here, and has finished in the money on all 4 completed starts since returning to action in October. Latest third off this mark at Ayr (16.5f, heavy) was a creditable effort but not sure that this step back up in trip is what he wants. 2m1f course winner who has been in good form at 2m; in the mix if seeing out the trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/1 -38%) Out On The Tear |
9/1(-38%) | (3) Out On The Tear 9/1, Went the wrong way over fences last term and comes here on the back of a below-par fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Doncaster (16.4f, good to soft). Looks vulnerable. Below best at Doncaster last month but encouraging reappearance previously; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/3 +5%) Hello Judge |
10/3(+5%) | (6) Hello Judge 10/3, Winning hurdler who built on his reappearance effort to run out a good winner at Carlisle (2½m, soft) in October, displaying a good attitude in the process. Beaten favourite both starts since but will be a threat if he puts his best foot forward. Won at Carlisle in October; hasn't kicked on from that but may yet have bigger run in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/2 -17%) Trac |
7/2(-17%) | (4) Trac 7/2, Enjoyed an excellent season over fences last term, scoring three times, including at this venue. Resumed winning ways at Catterick (19.2f, soft) during the Christmas period and while more is needed up 5 lb, he has to enter calculations. Progressive 7yo who won at Catterick last month; may well take a 5lb rise in his stride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2/1 +29%) Stroll On By |
2/1(+29%) | (1) Stroll On By 2/1, Made the frame on 4 of his 6 starts over hurdles last term and made it second time lucky in this sphere at Exeter (17.5f, soft) in October. Backed that up when third at Kempton the following month and bold show anticipated here. Won at Exeter (2m1f) on second chase start; 3rd at Kempton (2m4f) since and could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (17/2 -13%) That'll Be The Day |
17/2(-13%) | (5) That'll Be The Day 17/2, Maiden hurdle winner on Rules debut back in March 2021 but little impact in various race-types since, including half-a-dozen starts in this sphere. Struggled on final few starts in Ireland and no return to form on recent stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Stroll On By should not be discounted, despite being well held at Kempton last time, but marginal preference is for TRAC. Micky Hammond's gelding returned to winning ways over 2m3f at Catterick a month ago and a 5lb rise for that success appears to be fair. The recent Ayr third Gandhi Maker edges out Hello Judge to be best of the rest.
Preference is for STROLL ON BY, who has taken well to fences and it was a stronger race than this in which he was third off a 1 lb higher mark at Kempton last time. Trac arrives here in good heart and he is feared most ahead of Hello Judge and Gandhi Maker.
The progressive TRAC (nap) made it four wins from his last eight starts when scoring at Catterick last month and can follow up today.

1st (6) (3/1 +40%) Kotmask |
3/1(+40%) | (6) Kotmask 3/1, Fair hurdler who has improved for switch to chasing, building on his reappearance effort when running out a comfortable winner at Plumpton in November. Fell next start but quickly back on track when fourth at Kempton (20.5f) on Boxing Day. Interesting back down in trip. Improving chaser; perhaps found out by the good ground when close up at Kempton latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +33%) Fine Casting |
10/3(+33%) | (4) Fine Casting 10/3, Fairly useful hurdles winner who has run to a similar level in 2 starts over fences this season, third behind a promising pair in novice handicap at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Needs to find more with cheekpieces on first time. Possibly best left handed but now goes in cheekpieces and the ability is there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/2 -38%) Mount Tempest |
11/2(-38%) | (3) Mount Tempest 11/2, Dual winning hurdler who, in first-time blinkers, matched pick of form in that sphere when landing C&D handicap in December. Followed up at Wetherby 13 days ago, in control when left clear 2 out, and he may do better still as a chaser. Major player. Unbeaten in blinkers, positively ridden to win two chases over this far; up 12lb for those. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (13/2 -44%) General Medrano |
13/2(-44%) | (2) General Medrano 13/2, Fairly useful hurdler who has done even better over fences this term, winning 2m handicaps at Uttoxeter and Huntingdon in October. Improved again when runner-up at Plumpton (19.7f) the following month, but bounce back called for after a below-par effort last time. Sharp improver over fences before a lesser effort at Kempton a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (4/1 -33%) Sir Psycho |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Sir Psycho 4/1, Won 3 times as a juvenile hurdler and opened his chase account at the second attempt in novice handicap at Ascot (18.8f) on his return (form has worked out well). Ran to similar level when second at Exeter next time and he can go well again with cheekpieces back on. Recent Ascot winner but came up short at Exeter (2lb lower); might need further nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (13/2 -63%) Keep Running |
13/2(-63%) | (5) Keep Running 13/2, French import who made a winning start for Harry Whittington over hurdles in 2022/23. Has been going the right way sent chasing for his current yard this season, making all in novice handicap at Taunton 18 days ago. One to consider with more still to offer over fences. Raised in class off a 4lb higher mark but very much heading in the right direction. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MOUNT TEMPEST followed up on his C&D victory to score by eight lengths in a class 2 event at Wetherby earlier in the month, and he is now 12lb higher for those pair of victories. The seven-year-old is improving at a rapid rate of knots and doesn't look like one to take on while he is in this form. Sir Psycho failed to justify odds-on favouritism over 2m3f at Exeter last month, but could get into contention dropping in distance, while last-time-out winner Keep Running is another to consider.
MOUNT TEMPEST has proved a different proposition with blinkers applied returned to 2m, making it back-to-back wins when making all at Wetherby 13 days ago, and he can score again with the potential for more still to come over fences. Kotmask also remains capable of better as a chaser and could be next best, ahead of Keep Running.
It's hard to rule out any of the six runners but KEEP RUNNING could be progressive enough to cope in this higher grade.

11/2(+0%) | (5) Unavailable 11/2, 7/2, respectable third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 13 days ago, never nearer. Arrives in good order if the pace is solid. 0-7 but has run well the last twice and could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/5 +36%) Warming |
4/5(+36%) | (1) Warming 4/5, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/1, very good second of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 8 days ago. Should be able to go one better if she can reproduce that sort of performance. Has run well in defeat over 6f in first two handicaps and she's firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (17/2 -55%) Relentless Warrior |
17/2(-55%) | (3) Relentless Warrior 17/2, Last of 9 in handicap (15/2) at Southwell (6.1f) 8 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Others more persuasive. On a reduced mark but 0-9 and needs to raise his game in a first-time visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/2 -120%) Rogue Rosie |
11/2(-120%) | (2) Rogue Rosie 11/2, 4/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 24 days ago, left with lot to do. Not seen to best the last twice and remains with potential. Tongue strap on 1st time. 0-9, but best run came on sole encounter with Polytrack over C&D last month; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Rogue Rosie gave the impression that her turn in the winner's enclosure was imminent when a staying-on third over C&D on her penultimate start, but her tendency to be slowly away cost her at Wolverhampton subsequently and may hinder her chances again. WARMING arrives on the back of an admirable second over 6f at Southwell last week and, on her first attempt at the minimum trip off an unchanged mark, she may be able to show her rivals the way home. Unavailable has been dropped 1lb for finishing third at Wolverhampton and shouldn't be dismissed lightly.
WARMING found improvement when second at Southwell 8 days ago and, if she can back that up, she should take all the beating. Unavailable arrives on the back of a solid showing and Rogue Rosie has shaped better than the bare result the last twice, so she's also on the radar.
Preference is for ROGUE ROSIE, who was an eyecatching third over C&D two starts ago on her sole previous run on Polytrack.

17/2(-113%) | (4) Moonlight Glory 17/2, All the better with a run under her belt when resuming winning ways at Newcastle (16.9f) in November. Below par at Market Rasen next time but quickly back to form when second at this course (19.8f) 26 days ago. Respected. Five-time hurdle winner; as good as ever when second over 2m4f here on Boxing Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +10%) Horn Cape |
9/4(+10%) | (3) Horn Cape 9/4, Capitalised on the drop in grade returned to hurdling when landing a C&D handicap in determined fashion in November and resumed winning ways in 5-runner affair at Newcastle (16.9f, soft) 43 days ago. Up 4 lb but likely to give another good account. Posted career-best performance at Newcastle last month and this C&D also suits him well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 +36%) Inferno Sacree |
9/2(+36%) | (2) Inferno Sacree 9/2, Highly progressive in the second half of last season and took a big step back in the right direction when fourth in 10-runner handicap at Plumpton (15.9f) 19 days ago. Not taken lightly from 2 lb lower. Won five times in first half of 2023 and further improvement not yet out of the question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/4 +50%) Coup De Coeur |
7/4(+50%) | (5) Coup De Coeur 7/4, Fairly useful over hurdles/fences in France and off the mark on these shores in a C&D novice in November. Ran at least as well in defeat back in a handicap at Wetherby (2m) last month and seems sure to go well again. Second off this mark in Wetherby handicap since comfortable C&D novice win in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (20/1 -67%) Ravenscar |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Ravenscar 20/1, C&D winner who showed the benefit of her reappearance run when third of 12 at Newcastle in November. Poor efforts last 2 starts, however. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Not firing on all cylinders this season; needs a good boost from the new cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (7/1 -133%) Barrichello |
7/1(-133%) | (1) Barrichello 7/1, Four-time hurdle winner in 2022 who also ran well in defeat first 3 outings over fences last term. Ended the season with a poor run at Kelso and has been a long way below his best both starts this term, including in a first-time tongue strap at Doncaster last time. Soundly beaten on latest outing but given another wind op since; on very good mark now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HORN CAPE appreciated a drop back in trip to score at Newcastle last month and the seven-year-old, who also won over C&D earlier in the season, is capable of handling a 4lb rise from the handicapper. Coup De Coeur was runner-up on his UK handicap debut at Wetherby on Boxing Day and he is likely to enter calculations, while Moonlight Glory appears best of the remainder.
HORN CAPE arrives in the form of his life and could be up to defying a 4 lb rise for Newcastle back at a track where he has an excellent record. Coup de Coeur and Moonlight Glory are feared most.
The pick is HORN CAPE, who does not look harshly treated by a 4lb rise for last month's Newcastle win and is also suited by this C&D.

11/1(+45%) | (1) Farceur Du Large 11/1, Capable performer on his day but ended time with Noel Meade on a downer and needs to bounce back on this debut for new connections. Useful in Ireland before losing his way; makes stable debut with much to prove. |

2nd (10) (2/1 +53%) Rose Of Arcadia |
2/1(+53%) | (10) Rose Of Arcadia 2/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser who made a winning reappearance at Newton Abbot (26.5f, heavy) in October. Solid efforts in defeat the last twice, latterly finishing third of 11 in the Sussex National, and she has to be high on the shortlist. Lacks course experience but is in good form and these terms are favourable. |

3rd (7) (80/1 -100%) Fil D'ariane |
80/1(-100%) | (7) Fil D'ariane 80/1, Pulled up on latest start under Rules back in July 2021, which was his final start for Tom Symonds. Placed all 3 starts between the flags since, including when third of 14 back form a lengthy absence last month, but he looks up against it here. Looks vulnerable despite a pleasing recent return between the flags. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 -60%) Enjoy Your Life |
8/1(-60%) | (3) Enjoy Your Life 8/1, Fairly useful ex-French winning hurdler/chaser who built on his solid reappearance second at Wincanton when cosily landing a 3m Exeter handicap in November. Conditions were perhaps too testing for him over the same C&D next time but others make more appeal in any case. Not at his best last time but was bang in form and this trip and ground should be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (10/1 -18%) Golden Sovereign |
10/1(-18%) | (8) Golden Sovereign 10/1, Opened chase account at Wincanton on final start of 2020/21 campaign and placed both completed starts at that course last term. Below par following a wind op on return at Exeter but entitled to come on for that and represents trainer-jockey combination that landed this race in 2022. Running well about this time last year and these terms are favourable. |

6th (6) (22/1 -83%) Almazhar Garde |
22/1(-83%) | (6) Almazhar Garde 22/1, Runner-up in this race last year but he's not been in anything like the same form since and losing run stretches back to 2021. Runner-up 12 months ago but few positives to take from this last three efforts. |

|F| (9) (4/1 +27%) Nestor Park |
4/1(+27%) | (9) Nestor Park 4/1, Just one win to his name over fences but, to his credit, he has made the frame on several occasions. Not at his very best in 3 starts so far this season, albeit there were positives to take from his latest effort in first-time blinkers (retained here) ar Warwick recently. Usually gives his running but poor strike-rate over fences; no better for blinkers latest. |

|F| (5) (18/1 -140%) Up Helly Aa King |
18/1(-140%) | (5) Up Helly Aa King 18/1, Not getting any younger but he's a likeable sort and duly left his reappearance spin behind when landing a 6-runner Ayr handicap (3m, heavy) earlier this month. Decent fourth in a veterans' over this C&D last January and he's not without each-way hope. 13yo veteran with course form and returns here after winning a Class 3 handicap at Ayr. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (5/1 -82%) Broken Halo |
5/1(-82%) | (2) Broken Halo 5/1, Useful chaser who made it 2-2 under Brigadier Jody Sole when landing this race 12 months ago. Has failed to complete on 2 of his 3 subsequent starts but will have a serious chance if able to bounce back to his very best. Won this last season under Jody Sole; penultimate effort was highly encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) (20/1 -150%) I See You Well |
20/1(-150%) | (4) I See You Well 20/1, Plumpton specialist who gained his latest success over this C&D in December 2022. Reproduction of that form would put him firmly in the picture but he's rather up-and-down nowadays and others look safer. C&D winner; not at his best the last twice but retains his ability and not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Up Helly Aa King dug deep when landing the spoils at Ayr earlier in the month and that willing attitude should stand the veteran in good stead. However, Nick Alexander's gelding must concede 5lb to the higher-rated NESTOR PARK, who looks to be favourably treated by the conditions of this contest. The 11-year-old hasn't been disgraced in recent months and makes most appeal, while Rose Of Arcadia is unlikely to be far away.
The mare ROSE OF ARCADIA appeals as the most likely winner judged on the improved form she has shown this season. Nestor Park ran well for a long way in a competitive Warwick handicap last time and should have a part to play, while last year's winner Broken Halo, Golden Sovereign and the veteran Up Helly Aa King are all worth a second look.
Rose Of Arcadia should run well but this is like a home game for BROKEN HALO (nap) who won this race last season.

Blinkered for 1st time, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f, 6/4) 21 days ago, nearest finish. Big player. Losing run up to 15, but is 2lb below his last winning mark and 3-8 over C&D; respected. |

22/1(-214%) | (6) Doc Sportello 22/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 33/1, second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 11 days ago. Reproduction of that effort would give him a fighting chance. Now a 12yo, but a close second last time and each-way claims if repeating that effort. |

6th (3) (6/1 +0%) Confederation |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Confederation 6/1, Unreliable sort. One win from 21 Flat runs. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 5/1, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 9 days ago. Likely to find one or two too good. 1-21; third last time but a doubt as to whether a sharp 5f like this is ideal for him now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HE'S AN ANGEL has impressed when scoring with the minimum of fuss on his two most recent outings over 6f, and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to stop Peter Niven's charge bringing up the hat-trick. Man On A Mission's recent third at Southwell can be upgraded after he was hampered leaving the stalls and, nudged up just 1lb for that effort, he rates as the main danger. Doc Sportello's rating has been generally regressive in recent times but after finishing an admirable second over 6f at Wolverhampton last week, he bids to arrest the slide back over the minimum trip.
The hat-trick beckons for HE'S AN ANGEL, who has improved to win 6f handicaps at Wolverhampton and Southwell the last twice and he shouldn't be unduly inconvenienced by dropping back to the minimum trip. Man On A Mission was unlucky not to finish closer when third in first-time blinkers at Southwell and he is likely to emerge as the main danger. That said, if the veteran Doc Sportello backs up his recent Wolverhampton effort he will be in with a shout, too.
Preference is for MAN ON A MISSION who is a three-time winner over C&D and who looked unlucky at Southwell last time.

Creditable third of 7 in novice hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, good, 15/8) 128 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chasing and remains with potential in this sphere. 3-5 over fences (includes C&D win); below form in September but still considered. |

THE BIG JETAWAY returns from a small break with his last appearance coming in a novice hurdle at Kelso in September. Twice a winner over fences in the summer, the drop back in trip is another positive for Donald McCain's gelding in a contest that appears to be winnable for the eight-year-old. Heritier's jumping let him down at Ayr at the start of the month, but a repeat of his second here the time before would give him every chance of bouncing back. Rocco Storm won over C&D in October and isn't one to discount.
THE BIG JETAWAY was in good order when last seen and, in a weak race back over fences, he makes the most appeal. Escapeandevade and Rocco Storm both need to bounce back from lesser efforts but the pair are well treated on their best form.
Perhaps this race will set up nicely for keen-goer HERITIER, who ran well in defeat here on his stable debut in December.

1st (13) (10/3 +76%) Havaila |
10/3(+76%) | (13) Havaila 10/3, Fair hurdler who completed a simple task at Fakenham last spring. Reached the frame 3 times on the Flat in summer but below par back par hurdling at Ascot (2m) just before Christmas. Step back up in trip could help. Has to find something on his Ascot run but conditions won't bother him, nor the trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 +52%) Issam |
10/3(+52%) | (5) Issam 10/3, Second success since coming from France when seeing off 5 rivals at Exeter (18.5f, heavy) just before Christmas. Consistent but he's 4 lb higher in a stronger race now. Probably needed his comeback third here and then won with a bit up his sleeve at Exeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (7/2 +42%) Gyenyame |
7/2(+42%) | (8) Gyenyame 7/2, Fair 2m Flat winner for Andrew Balding and struck at the third time of asking over hurdles in 2½m Wincanton maiden last March. Creditable in-frame efforts so far this term and cheekpieces applied for first time in this sphere. Not dismissed. Held his own in all four handicaps without looking ahead of his mark; drops in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/1 +70%) Jatiluwih |
10/1(+70%) | (1) Jatiluwih 10/1, Lightly-raced since registering latest success in a 21f handicap at Cheltenham back in November 2021. Generally performed with credit last season but produced a tame return at same track 25 days ago. Not as good as he was; underwhelming reappearance; vulnerable with a big weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (10/1 +44%) Robin's Dream |
10/1(+44%) | (10) Robin's Dream 10/1, Winner of a 2m Huntingdon maiden hurdle May 2021 but not seen again until third of 4 in 2m Taunton handicap chase last January. Off another 12 months since and has a bit to prove. Talented but lightly raced; back from another sizeable layoff and watching brief best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (13/2 +13%) Lord Of Cheshire |
13/2(+13%) | (4) Lord Of Cheshire 13/2, Lightly-raced hurdler who was bagging his third win in 2m3f handicap at Warwick in November. Good second off 7 lb higher mark at Haydock since so he can make his presence felt again. Beaten at Haydock last time and that was with James Turner's useful claim. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (12/1 +25%) Sholokjack |
12/1(+25%) | (9) Sholokjack 12/1, Dual hurdler winner in 2021/22 and posted a useful effort to win a 2½m Lingfield handicap chase last winter. Not got competitive in a trio of handicaps this season, though. Twice fell over fences; prone to mistakes in this discipline and modest so far this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (22/1 -38%) Mullinaree |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Mullinaree 22/1, Won 5 on the spin over hurdles last year and ran better than on chasing bow when fourth of 7 in handicap at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft, 28/1) 39 days ago. Not out of things back in this sphere. Respectable 10l defeat over fences last time and defied a similar hurdle mark last summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (28/1 -75%) Chez Hans |
28/1(-75%) | (3) Chez Hans 28/1, Built up a fine partnership with this pilot in 2021 but fell on final outing and hasn't been seen for 2 years. On a good mark if he retains all of his ability. Has been a long-time absent but he's well handicapped; market can guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
It was hard to not be impressed by Spring Note's demolition of her rivals when making all at Newbury last month, and Nicky Henderson's mare may have more to offer. A 13lb rise in the handicap does give grounds to take her on, though, with GYENYAME edging the verdict. The Nathaniel gelding has performed with credit in all three defeats this season and the stiff uphill finish here may bring out the best in him. Last-time-out scorers Clondaw Royale and Issam enter calculations too.
EAST INDIA EXPRESS didn't quite come up to expectations in a good novice at Newbury last time but he was impressive on his previous outing and the form is strong, so he takes marginal preference over his stablemate Spring Note, an emphatic winner at the same track last month. Clondaw Royal arrives on the up and makes plenty of appeal.
Some of his rivals have the potential to be better handicapped but GYENYAME rates a solid proposition on the form he's shown this term.

1st (8) (5/2 +29%) Red Walls |
5/2(+29%) | (8) Red Walls 5/2, Modest gelding. C&D winner earlier this month. Fourth of 7 in handicap (7/2) at Chelmsford City (6f) 8 days ago. One to consider. Won over C&D this month and both defeats since in better races; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (15/2 +46%) Savannah Smiles |
15/2(+46%) | (9) Savannah Smiles 15/2, Modest filly. C&D winner. Bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 28/1) 19 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. C&D winner who had excuses at Wolverhampton last time; not totally dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 -80%) Autumn Flight |
9/1(-80%) | (1) Autumn Flight 9/1, Modest gelding. C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 16/1, first run since leaving Ian McInnes when seventh of 9 in handicap at Kempton (5f) 9 days ago, left poorly placed. Opposable. Drops to this level for the first time on 76th start and should go well from his good draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/2 -40%) Coast |
7/2(-40%) | (2) Coast 7/2, Modest mare. 3/1, didn't need to improve to win 10-runner minor event at this C&D (AW) 22 days ago. Nudged up just 1 lb and likely to be in the thick of things once more. Last two wins have come over C&D and a player on form, though has the outside draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (2/1 +27%) Monsieur Fantaisie |
2/1(+27%) | (4) Monsieur Fantaisie 2/1, Modest gelding. One win from 31 Flat runs. Twenty-one runs since last win in 2022. Creditable second of 8 in minor event (7/2) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 6 days ago, running on. Solid claims. 1-31, though placed at this level the last twice; solid each-way shout from inside stall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (18/1 +28%) Musaytir |
18/1(+28%) | (5) Musaytir 18/1, Poor gelding. C&D winner. One win from 40 Flat runs. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 66/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 7 days ago. Readily passed over. C&D winner a year ago, but that was his only win in 40 starts; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 -230%) My Kind Of Girl |
33/1(-230%) | (6) My Kind Of Girl 33/1, Modest filly. Sixth of 8 in handicap at this course (7f, AW, 11/1) 12 days ago. Likely to come up short once again. 0-8 and best effort so far came in her only start on turf; has a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (50/1 -150%) College Wizard |
50/1(-150%) | (3) College Wizard 50/1, Poor gelding. Sixth of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 22/1) 15 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Hood on 1st time. 0-13 and has never tackled a trip this short; addition of hood needs to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 -100%) Perfect Symphony |
50/1(-100%) | (7) Perfect Symphony 50/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (5f, 100/1) 9 days ago, not ideally placed. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Veteran who was running well over 5f here last spring, but not in the same form since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MONSIEUR FANTAISIE posted an excellent second at Wolverhampton last weekend and Archie Watson's gelding may be able to make amends for that narrow defeat. Coast arrives on the back of a workmanlike success over C&D and warrants consideration, while Red Walls is likely to be the one setting the early fractions but will need to bounce back from two handicap defeats in order to still be there at the line.
Despite his propensity to miss the kick and modest strike rate, MONSIEUR FANTAISIE is pretty appealing on the back of his recent near miss off this mark at Wolverhampton. If the 6-y-o is able to get away on terms here from the plum draw he could have the measure of Coast, who landed a minor event here at the beginning of the month. Red Walls is best of the rest.
Preference is for AUTUMN FLIGHT who is well drawn in stall two and drops to this level for the first time on his 76th start.

1st (8) (11/2 +0%) Eveque |
11/2(+0%) | (8) Eveque 11/2, Long-standing maiden who ran up to best when keeping on for second at Musselburgh (23.6f) 3 weeks ago, just failing. Should give another good account. Went down fighting at Musselburgh this month but is 4lb higher here and now 0-20 overall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/2 +50%) Coolmoyne |
7/2(+50%) | (7) Coolmoyne 7/2, Maiden who has filled the frame on 3 of his 5 starts, producing a rare below-par display when seventh of 11 at Catterick (19.2f) 38 days ago. Mark has slipped a little more and he's a likely candidate to bounce back. Placed twice over 2m3f here in the autumn but has stamina to prove over new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 +36%) Onestepatatime |
7/2(+36%) | (5) Onestepatatime 7/2, All 3 career wins gained over C&D, the latest a narrow success in November. Not disgraced from inflated mark either outing since, albeit not jumping with the most fluency for the latest of them at Kelso 4 weeks ago. Still, well in the mix from 2 lb lower. Triple C&D winner, most recently in November; probably won't be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 -82%) Largy Nights |
10/1(-82%) | (4) Largy Nights 10/1, Stepped up on comeback run when doubling chase tally over C&D in November. Anchored by an 8 lb rise when finishing close-up fifth of 6 in Southwell handicap (25.8f) since. Clearcut C&D winner in November and could still have a bigger run in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 -227%) Skyhill |
9/1(-227%) | (3) Skyhill 9/1, Veteran who ended last season with success over C&D in April and showed benefit of reappearance run when landing 6-runner Catterick handicap (25.2f) on New Year's Day. Nudged up 4 lb and likely he can give another good account. Has excellent strike-rate over fences and runs this track very well; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (25/1 -25%) Canelo |
25/1(-25%) | (2) Canelo 25/1, One-time smart handicapper but has been on the downgrade for some time, showing very little on return from 15 months off at Newcastle in December. This should reveal more. Very useful in his prime but has badly lost his way; considered only if lively in betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/2 +31%) Le Grand Vert |
11/2(+31%) | (6) Le Grand Vert 11/2, Hurdles winner in France in summer 2021. Fallen in the weights for new yard and matched previous best when third at Musselburgh (23.6f) 3 weeks ago. Needs to step up again if he's to open his account here, however. Ran okay at Musselburgh this month but is 0-11 over fences now and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (12/1 -71%) Rostello |
12/1(-71%) | (1) Rostello 12/1, Looked awkward when resuming winning ways over fences at Hexham in November and seemed to shirk it off the bridle when fourth of 6 in handicap chase at Southwell (25.8f, soft, 11/2) 6 weeks ago. Capable of playing a part again nevertheless. Probably still on a workable mark after Hexham win in November; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (22/1 -10%) Ballintogher Boy |
22/1(-10%) | (10) Ballintogher Boy 22/1, No show last 3 starts, including both outings here/Newcastle in November. Had wind op ahead of this but good deal to prove. Pulled up on last three outings; needs recent wind op to have made a big difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (14/1 +0%) Dysania |
14/1(+0%) | (9) Dysania 14/1, Finally got off the mark in 5-runner handicap chase at Lingfield in November and not disgraced when fourth at Uttoxeter (3m) 5 weeks ago, despite making hard work of things. Others more appealing from out of the weights. Rewarded determined ride on seasonal debut but two lesser efforts have followed; 6lb wrong. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SKYHILL seemed to benefit from his first run of the season over C&D when making it back-to-back victories in the same contest at Catterick on New Year's Day. The 11-year-old makes plenty of appeal in his bid for a fourth success at this track. Largy Nights won the aforementioned C&D event in November and is expected to be competitive along with Rostello, a winner at Hexham on his penultimate start, and Onestepatatime.
Having resumed winning ways over C&D in November, ONESTEPATATIME hasn't been disgraced either outing since, fourth at Kelso latest despite not jumping with much fluency. The return to this venue rates a plus (all 3 career victories gained here) and she's a player having eased 2 lb in the weights. Skyhill, a winner at Catterick on New Year's Day rates the lead threat, with Eveque and Coolmoyne completing the shortlist.
Eight-time chase winner SKYHILL produced a good performance to score at Catterick this month and is also very well suited by this C&D.

Rejoined yard after leaving DavidO'Meara. Not taken lightly. Both wins at 5f, the latest in Britain; back with old yard and returns to 5f; off 153 days. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HAVANA NOTION was able to build on a brace of promising efforts when winning over 6f here 10 days ago, and though a subsequent 5lb rise will ask sterner questions of him, he might be up to the task. Multiple course winner No Speed Limit likes to dominate proceedings, and he's berthed to do just that from his low draw. That said, Haumea showed good early tow when finishing second at Chelmsford in October, so she might apply some pressure out of stall one. Others to note include Below Deck and Zig Zag Zyggy.
A case can be made for a few of these but BELOW DECK arrives in very good order and can gain a deserved breakthrough success off a lenient-looking mark. Mulitple course scorer No Speed Limit heads the list of dangers, although Autumnal Breeze, Havana Notion, Haumea and Zig Zag Zyggy all need factoring in too.
The filly BELOW DECK ran with credit over six furlongs here last week and can reverse the form with Havana Notion back at 5f

1st (12) (5/1 +23%) Gyllen |
5/1(+23%) | (12) Gyllen 5/1, Winner of back-to-back handicaps at Taunton for new trainer Kayley Woollacott, latterly seeing off the reopposing Wot You Wearing by1½ lengths in a 10-runner event. Had a bit in hand on that occasion so a further 7 lb rise is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Former class act on the Flat; 2-3 for this yard and something has evidently clicked. |

2nd (14) (11/2 +8%) Wot You Wearing |
11/2(+8%) | (14) Wot You Wearing 11/2, Showed an excellent attitude when gaining a third win of the season at Chepstow (19.5f) in November. Good second to the reopposing Gyllen over 3m at Taunton since and another bold show likely with cheekpieces refitted. Looked flattered to get within 2l of Gyllen at Taunton the last time; edging up weights. |

3rd (4) (8/1 +0%) Artistic Endeavour |
8/1(+0%) | (4) Artistic Endeavour 8/1, Yet to win but has shown plenty of promise, finishing runner-up 3 times over hurdles at around 2m. Failed to improve for the step up to 21f at Kempton over Christmas but he remains one likely to prove at least as effective over this sort of trip. Winner waiting to happen (second in three of six runs) and he's unexposed on this ground. |

4th (6) (12/1 -20%) Bertie Wooster |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Bertie Wooster 12/1, Remains a maiden following 9 attempts over hurdles but he arrives in good nick, third at Hereford (25.5f, good to soft) last month. Stamina was stretched that day so there is reason to be positive back down in trip. Perhaps on a tough mark but now placed in all handicaps and he's unlikely to be far away. |

5th (8) (40/1 -60%) Blue Ridge Hill |
40/1(-60%) | (8) Blue Ridge Hill 40/1, Ran to a fair level when third on 2m course debut last February but heads into handicap company with a bit to prove having finished well held on both starts this season. 7th (5) (7/1 +22%) Celtic Ned |
7/1(+22%) | (5) Celtic Ned 7/1, Promise on his last 2 starts (both 2m at Lingfield), latterly finishing 8 lengths fourth of 8 on his handicap debut. Open to progress now stepping up in trip. Might prove the answer for in-form Gary Moore. Beaten fav on handicap debut; bred for this longer distance and no doubt capable of better. |

8th (3) (16/1 +27%) Knowwhentoholdem |
16/1(+27%) | (3) Knowwhentoholdem 16/1, Improved second in Newton Abbot maiden on his final start last season and made a sound start to his handicap career when third of 8 over 19f at Haydock on his reappearance just before Christmas. Could find something on his third at Haydock but he will need to. |

9th (10) (11/1 +8%) Captain Boudet |
11/1(+8%) | (10) Captain Boudet 11/1, £60,000 buy after finishing third on completed start in Irish point. Promise when reaching the frame in a pair of 19.5f Chepstow maiden hurdles in the autumn. His opening handicap mark isn't obviously generous but he has potential as an unexposed type. Has run okay in a couple of 2m3f maidens at Chepstow this season; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (9) (10/1 -11%) Eloi Du Puy |
10/1(-11%) | (9) Eloi Du Puy 10/1, Has improved since switched to handicaps, completing a hat-trick when seeing off 7 rivals over 19f at Carlisle last month. Had to overcome a bit of trouble in running at the Cumbrian venue and a 4 lb rise shouldn't prevent him making a bold bid for 4 in a row. Not sure he had all that much in hand when bringing up the hat-trick at Carlisle. |

|F| (13) (5/1 +0%) Elle Est Beau |
5/1(+0%) | (13) Elle Est Beau 5/1, Lightly-raced sort from a good yard who stayed on for third on last month's C&D handicap debut when well backed. Longer trips will suit but there is more to come from her and she's appealing. Comfortably best form yet when third in a small-field handicap over C&D in early December. |

10th (11) (100/1 -150%) Vengeance |
100/1(-150%) | (11) Vengeance 100/1, Placed twice at up to 2¾m at Fontwell for Harry Whittington last season. Resumes from 11 months off for new yard in a warm race and a watching brief has to be the percentage call. Eight-race maiden; competitive mark but lacks match practice and may prefer goodish ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Several to consider in a tricky finale, with a tentative vote going to BERTIE WOOSTER. Joe Tizzard's inmate failed to see out the extended 3m1f trip when weakening into third at Hereford last month and this drop in distance looks ideal. The hat-trick seeking Gyllen is sure to prove popular in his current mood and the nine-year-old isn't taken lightly, while Toonagh Warrior and Celtic Ned are potential improvers now faced with a stiffer test of stamina.
A very competitive novice handicap to end the card. CELTIC NED made a good start to his handicap career at Lingfield last month and is taken to build on that and strike for Gary Moore. Last-time-out Taunton 1-2 Gyllen and Wot You Wearing head the many dangers along with Eloi du Puy and Nicky Henderson's Bold Reaction.
A fiendishly difficult finale. TOONAGH WARRIOR did everything but get the job done at Ascot and today's longer trip should be a plus.

11th (3) (14/1 -17%) Hildenley |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Hildenley 14/1, 14/1, first run since leaving Tim Easterby when last of 12 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 16 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and he looks vulnerable. Off for a year before well beaten on stable/Polytrack debut at Kempton; questions remain. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The Conqueror won over C&D before subsequently finishing fourth here at the start of the month. He is expected to be in the mix once again, but may prove vulnerable to THE RESDEV WAY. The veteran performer appeared to benefit from a change of scenery when going close on his first start for this stable at Wolverhampton, and a repeat of that effort may suffice. Naadyaa and Largo Bay appeal most of the remainder.
The vote goes to LARGO BAY, who didn't enjoy the best of runs over C&D last time and he had shaped as though his turn was near when placed in back-to-back Kempton handicaps prior to that. Stopnsearch has, like the selection, dipped to an attractive mark and he is next on the list ahead of The Conqueror and Naadyaa.
The choice is LARGO BAY who has run some creditable races in defeat lately and this looks easier.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A tricky puzzle to solve, in which it might pay to take a chance on CURSORY EXAM, who is able to compete from 17lb below his last winning mark. The six-year-old hasn't been at his best in recent starts, but there were signs of a return to form last time out, having been short of room approaching the two-furlong marker. General Idea's sole success came in a claiming event, though he has been running with credit here lately and the first-time visor could eke out more. Neddies Boy is another to consider.
Although SKY LEGEND was below par last time but he had been placed in 3 handicaps here prior to that and can bounce back to form with a bang dropped to a claimer. Overstate is another Denis Hogan runner weighted to have a say if returning to form on his first outing for the yard. Chica Linda could strip fitter for her recent comeback outing here and is also on the shortlist.
SKY LEGEND wasn't at his best here latest but may be hard to beat if he returns to the form of his placed efforts at end of 2023

Has his work cut out here on these terms. Encouraging enough return in C&D handicap in November but very stiff task at the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Having been on target over C&D on his debut, ELEGANT MAN finished an excellent second in behind former Breeders' Cup Turf hero Rebel's Romance in a Listed event at Kempton next time. The unexposed son of Arrogate should have plenty more in his locker, and he looks an exciting prospect for the Adrian Murray team. Freescape was a commanding winner over track and trip last month, so he appeals as the main danger. San Andreas is another that could have a say, for all that he has yet to conclusively prove his stamina at this trip.
A winner on debut over C&D, ELEGANT MAN showed improved form when chasing home a decidedly smart sort in listed company at Kempton 44 days ago and, with the prospect of more to come, he's fancied to make a bold bid back down in trip. San Andreas and Freescape are others fancied to feature.
The Kempton Listed second of ELEGANT MAN looks very strong form and the lightly raced 4yo could take the beating here

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ONE HART is officially 1lb well-in having hit the woodwork over C&D six days ago, so the son of Gutaifan ought to hold every chance of going one better. That said, Win Win Power remains on a competitive mark and he looks a big threat dropped into class 6 company, along with fellow grade-dropper Pembrokeshire, who can benefit from the drop to seven furlongs.
ONE HART ran his best race yet for Des Donovan when runner-up over C&D 6 days ago despite the worst of the draw and gets the narrow vote to come out on top from the same mark. Win Win Power and Dakota Power head up the dangers, with Pembrokeshire another to keep an eye on.
Preference is for DAKOTA POWER who has run well in his last three starts over C&D. The form of the last two has been boosted.

33/1(+0%) | (7) Cold Cold Heart 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1 and hooded for 1st time, eleventh of 13 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Others have achieved more. Blew the start on recent C&D handicap debut when hooded; headgear off and dropped 3lb. |

14th (2) (50/1 -100%) Chimeric |
50/1(-100%) | (2) Chimeric 50/1, Three wins from 11 runs last year. Latest win at Killarney in July. 40/1, last of 14 in handicap at this C&D 42 days ago. Struggling for form and latest two C&D runs don't inspire confidence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A surprise winner over this course and distance a fortnight ago, Gatsby Cap is noteworthy despite being 6lb worse off with Hale Bopp (fourth) on the revised terms. However, consistency isn't his strong point and there may be more mileage to be gained by siding with BIG DREAM. A previous course and distance winner, the selection wasn't beaten far at Newcastle 22 days ago and a step forward from that could prompt a return to wining ways. Roman Palace completes the shortlist.
BIG DREAM is back down to the mark he went very close from over C&D in November and might prove the answer. Play It Again Zaam ran his best race for a while when third over C&D last time and should be on the premises if in similar form. Roman Palace and Hale Bopp are others to consider.
An encouraging C&D third in December from a similar draw, PLAY IT AGAIN ZAAM is taken to get off the mark here

12/1(-33%) | (4) Flatley 12/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. Last of 11 in handicap (10/1) at this C&D 47 days ago, always behind. C&D winner in November; less good since but dangerous if getting a good pace to run at. |

2nd (7) (9/1 +25%) Light Up Our Stars |
9/1(+25%) | (7) Light Up Our Stars 9/1, C&D winner. Tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 22/1) 15 days ago. Has now fallen back down to last winning mark but others arrive with more pressing claims. C&D winner off this mark in October; mixed since but he's capable of a prominent showing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (2/1 +50%) Great Blasket |
2/1(+50%) | (9) Great Blasket 2/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 5 runs last year. 13/8 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable second of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford (10f) 13 days ago, no extra last ½f. Revised mark looks workable on that evidence. C&D winner on stable debut; two good runs since; Rossa Ryan takes over; lots to like. |

4th (8) (9/4 +32%) Landlordtothestars |
9/4(+32%) | (8) Landlordtothestars 9/4, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in January. 11/2, good second of 6 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 11 days ago, just failing. Has to be taken seriously. On the up this winter, winning twice (including C&D); leading claims. |

7th (6) (17/2 -70%) Bowood |
17/2(-70%) | (6) Bowood 17/2, 5/2, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 7 days ago, challenging 1f out and keeping on. Cheekpieces back on now and likely he can give another good account. 0-11 but he's been banging at the door and last week's 3rd can be upgraded; trip a query. |

8th (5) (25/1 -56%) Greatest Time |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Greatest Time 25/1, First run since leaving Richard Hannon when not disgraced fifth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 16/1) 42 days ago. Not one to write off for. Yet to build on debut promise but last month's stable debut wasn't without hope; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (28/1 -250%) Ballsbridge |
28/1(-250%) | (1) Ballsbridge 28/1, Made the frame both starts for Aidan O'Brien (at 1m) and seemed to find the drop to 6f against him when third on qualifying run for new yard at Newcastle back in November. Gelded since and better showing anticipated now handicapping back up in trip. Blinkered when showing promise in Ireland; low-key stable debut (6f; no headgear); gelded. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having recorded a narrow success at Southwell on his penultimate outing, the tables were turned on LANDLORDTOTHESTARS next time, who posted an excellent second at Lingfield 11 days ago. James Evans' charge can resume his progress being 2lb well-in, with Photon touted to be the chief danger. Great Blasket has been in good form of late, too, and the former C&D winner is unlikely to be far away along with the consistent Bowood.
LANDLORDTOTHESTARS coped well with the rise in grade when runner-up to another progressive sort at Lingfield 11 days ago and he looks sure to go well again operating from the same mark. Great Blasket and Photon head up the dangers.
Competitive fare but PHOTON could have more to give and he's preferred to Great Blasket and Landlordtothestars.

150/1(-200%) | (14) Chancey Approach 150/1, 50/1 and visored for 1st time, eleventh of 14 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Needs to do more. Well held twice here recently after long absence; 5lb wrong here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Bucky Larson hasn't won a handicap for over two years but sits on a competitive mark and can be a force in this company if recapturing some of his old sparkle. Fellow veteran, Zahee, also enters calculations based on peak performances and is respected off 12lb lower than the last of his two previous course and distance wins. However, the vote goes to TRISHULI RIVER, who bounced back to form with a determined effort over C&D in November and surely has more to give off just 3lb higher.
BUCKY LARSON has been shaping up well, runner-up despite not getting a clear run here last time, so it would be no great surprise were he to end a losing run here. In-form pair Feature This and Sunset Nova are obvious dangers.
Trainer Shane Crawley had a winner here last week and his TRISHULI RIVER could be another judged on her C&D defeat of Picture This

1st (6) (9/2 -64%) Just A Spark |
9/2(-64%) | (6) Just A Spark 9/2, Four wins from 13 runs last year. Career best when winning 6-runner handicap at this C&D (8/1) 24 days ago by 2¼ lengths from Intervention, always holding on. Not discounted despite taking a 5 lb rise. Four wins last year & took another step forward when beating Intervention here this month. |

2nd (2) (7/2 -40%) Intervention |
7/2(-40%) | (2) Intervention 7/2, 5-time course winner, latest win here in December. 9/1, good second of 13 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 17 days ago so he's well in the mix once more. Running well in recent months and no obvious reason why he wouldn't go well again. |

3rd (1) (5/2 +55%) Exalted Angel |
5/2(+55%) | (1) Exalted Angel 5/2, Twenty four runs since last win in 2021. 50/1, ninth of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 25 days ago. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. On losing run but he retains ability and should go well back down in class. |

5th (3) (5/1 +9%) Way To Dubai |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Way To Dubai 5/1, Failed to build on the promise of last run when only twelfth of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 25 days ago. Not written off. Second to Intervention at Lingfield last month & 8lb better off; ran poorly last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (18/1 +45%) Streamline |
18/1(+45%) | (5) Streamline 18/1, C&D winner. 33/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at this course (5.1f) 19 days ago so needs to get back on track. Conditions to suit & ran a bit better than the distance beaten on his belated return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
This can go the way of INTERVENTION, who rattled off a four-timer at the back end of last year. Second on each of his last two starts, including when runner-up to the reopposing Just A Spark 24 days ago, he is 5lb better off with that rival and Mick Appleby's charge can reverse that form en route to further success. Rousing Encore is just 1lb higher than his recent C&D victory and looks set to go well. Exalted Angel should not be underestimated either.
ROUSING ENCORE displayed a fine attitude when going in here last month and looks weighted to go close off just a 1 lb higher mark. Intervention is proving an admirable sort and can't be taken lightly though, with his old rival and C&D scorer Just A Spark also firmly in the picture in a good sprint.
Exalted Angel and Just A Spark are considered but ROUSING ENCORE can follow up last month's C&D success.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BUTTERFLY BUSH put her first two underwhelming starts behind her when hitting the frame on her all-weather debut over C&D earlier in the month. The three-year-old filly makes her handicap bow off a mark of 72, which could prove to be a lenient rating. Blue Soul finished third on her first start in the handicap ranks over 7f here last month and should go well off a 2lb higher rating, while Old Mexican is worth monitoring in the market on his handicap debut.
An open-looking 3-y-o handicap with the vote in favour of BLUE SOUL. Ger Lyons' filly shaped well with a view to stepping back in trip when third over 7f here last month and could yet have more to offer on the back of just 4 career starts. Exceeding also rates the type to do better and along with the selection's stablemate Alto Sax, heads up the dangers.
If BUTTERFLY BUSH finds improvement for her recent return, she could be the one to beat with a good mark to work with on h'cap debut

ENCIRCLE is a well-related daughter of Ten Sovereigns and goes for the in-form Simon & Ed Crisford yard on debut. She has plenty of stamina in her pedigree, but this trip looks like a good starting point and she can go in at the first time of asking. Alvesta sets the bar with a rating of 70 after hitting the crossbar over an extended mile earlier in the month and she is likely to be on the premises once more. Of the remainder, Sense Of Charm appeals most if she can take another step forward from her fourth at Lingfield.
ALVESTA stepped up on her previous form when finding only a very expensive well-bred newcomer of Godolphin's too good here a fortnight ago. This longer trip will suit and she's taken to get off the mark at the fourth attempt. Miss Bielsa and Encircle are interesting newcomers from the Crisford yard and the betting could be revealing.
This can go to the newcomer MISS BIELSA, whose breeding suggests she will be very much at home on this surface.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LOCAL GIRL posted her best effort yet when she was a half-length second to the now 83-rated Pier Pressure over this course and distance in November and a repeat of that level could suffice in this modest-looking maiden. Expound sets the standard on the official ratings and is feared most with first-time cheekpieces added, while Shanadar is closely matched with the selection, having finished a length and a half behind her in third in that aforementioned race. Come On The Lads is another to consider.
EXPOUND stands out on form and his new yard could get more out of him, so he takes preference over Shanadar, who also returns from a break. Come On The Lads can feature if back to the sort of form he showed on debut.
COME ON THE LADS could go well after an eyecatching run last week and this drop in trip may suit

8/1(-129%) | (3) Isle Of Wolves 8/1, Twenty three runs since last win in 2019. Good second of 11 in handicap (15/2) at Newcastle (10.2f) 18 days ago. That form is working out really well so he's expected to be bang there off an unchanged mark. Just 2-41, though runner-up on 13 occasions including the last twice; place claims again. |

Can give a good account with headgear again sported. 3lb lower than for the latest of two wins here last winter, but needs to bounce back. |

5th (7) (15/2 +25%) Come On John |
15/2(+25%) | (7) Come On John 15/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. Respectable fifth of 12 in handicap (33/1) at Lingfield (10f, AW) 11 days ago, missing break. One for the shortlist. Still off the same mark as when winning over C&D in November; worth a second look. |

6th (5) (9/4 -13%) Crafter |
9/4(-13%) | (5) Crafter 9/4, C&D winner. Winner here in December. 2/1, creditable second of 10 in handicap at this C&D 27 days ago, clear of rest. Merits consideration for last year's successful yard. First and second in his last two starts over C&D and latest effort has been franked. |

7th (1) (13/2 -30%) Meleki |
13/2(-30%) | (1) Meleki 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, only seventh of 9 in handicap at this course (8.6f) 21 days ago. Visor on 1st time with more required. Showed ability in first three starts, but well held on handicap debut; visor on. |

8th (6) (50/1 -525%) Above The Line |
50/1(-525%) | (6) Above The Line 50/1, Off 15 months, first run since leaving Eddie O'Grady when third of 11 in maiden at this course (8.6f) 14 days ago. Makes handicap debut but others look better treated at these weights. Well behind the first two when third on stable debut here last time, but still unexposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CRAFTER was second over this track and trip on his latest outing and he was given a 2lb rise for that display. The son of Muhaarar could make it two wins from his last three starts if running to that level here. The main threat might be Isle of Wolves, who has taken the silver medal on each of his last two starts, including once over C&D and he could get into contention off the same mark. Above The Line warrants a market check on her handicap bow.
ISLE OF WOLVES arrives on a long losing run but is knocking on the door and with the form of his recent Newcastle second proving strong he can go one better off the same mark. Crafter represents last year's victorious stable so this C&D scorer rates a big threat, while Come On John and Harbour Vision also have winning form at the track and warrant plenty of respect too.
The vote goes to CRAFTER (nap) who has good recent C&D form. His latest effort has since been boosted.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MANHATTAN DREAMER performed with credit when a close-up third over 6f here recently. This first attempt over 7f could unlock some more improvement, which would make Adrian Murray's filly tough to beat. Emerald Eclipse is a potential fly in the ointment on his opening bid and any market support for the Joseph O'Brien-trained colt would have to be respected, with I Bid You Ajou also worthy of consideration on his return to this distance.
The step up to this trip should suit MANHATTAN DREAMER, who has shaped well both starts here over 6f and she remains open to improvement. Newcomer Emerald Eclipse ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and it will look significant if the market speaks in his favour. I Bid You Ajou and Sobriety Blue are others to consider.
Not much strength in depth here with MANHATTAN DREAMER (nap) taken to see off I Bid You Ajou

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BIG R scored with plenty in hand when opening his account over 6f at Kempton last week. A 5lb penalty and a quick turnaround may not be enough to prevent the four-year-old from going in again and he's sure to prove popular. Warminster posted one of his better efforts when a close second at Newcastle recently. Katie Scott's gelding could give the selection most to think about, ahead of C&D winner Alafdhal.
BIG R justified support when getting off the mark in good style at Kempton 9 days ago and he can score again now that he's up and running. Alafdhal is well handicapped on old form and is feared most after getting back on track when third at this C&D last time, with Warminster completing the shortlist.
Warminster should give it his all but EL HIBRI is taken to leave his recent Newcastle flop well behind him.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
UPEPO had little difficulty in completing a quick-fire double at Lingfield recently and a 5lb penalty appears to be far from insurmountable for Tony Carroll's charge. The Roaring Lion gelding should take all the beating, with the main threat likely to be Easter Island. The five-year-old posted a promising second on his stable bow at this venue earlier in the month and he warrants respect. Classic Speed and Jumeira Vision could battle it out for the remaining spoils.
UPEPO is thriving and looks very much the way to go under a 5 lb penalty for his emphatic Lingfield victory. Easter Island appeals as the one to chase home Tony Carroll's hat-trick seeker ahead of in-form pair Eloped and Mirabello Bay.
The vote goes to ELOPED who is back off the same mark as when winning over C&D last September.
Ths is the racecard key.
