11/2(-38%) | (3) Catena Zapata 11/2, Fairly useful Flat winner. Sixth of 25 in novice hurdle (17/2) at Navan (16f, heavy) 51 days ago. Likely has a race like this in him. Too keen and didn't get home in testing conditions at Navan; more expected of here. |

80/1(-142%) | (8) Mount Anglesby 80/1, Seventh of 9 in bumper (16/1) at Galway (16.4f, heavy) on NH debut 93 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Plenty keen when well held on bumper debut, best watched now switched to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/1(-100%) | (6) Hypersonic Missile 7/1, Won 8-runner bumper at Sedgefield (16.8f, good to soft, 5/4) 118 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. First run for yard after leaving John McConnell. Good shout. Sedgefield bumper winner for John McConnell; softer ground here for hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (100/1 -300%) Pinky |
100/1(-300%) | (13) Pinky 100/1, Ninth of 14 in novice hurdle (28/1) at Fairyhouse (18.2f, soft) on hurdles bow 16 days ago. Bumper promise but didn't jump well on recent hurdles debut. |

250/1(-150%) | (7) Matagorda 250/1, Once-raced maiden. Eleventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Tramore (16.8f, heavy, 200/1) on NH debut 28 days ago. Tailed off on Tramore hurdles debut early this month, can only be watched for now. |

50/1(-257%) | (4) Dukeman 50/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat, possibly needed run on stable debut last time. Tongue strap on. Flat winner in Britain; tongue-tied here for hurdles debut and may want better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (150/1 -200%) Gometra Ginty |
150/1(-200%) | (12) Gometra Ginty 150/1, Fairly useful handicapper at best on Flat, stays 1m, below form in 2023. British flat winner on better ground so best watched on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (250/1 -150%) Boston Bongo |
250/1(-150%) | (2) Boston Bongo 250/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. 150/1, twelfth of 15 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, heavy) 5 days ago. Modest Flat form and poor in three runs over timber so far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (250/1 -279%) Storm Ryder |
250/1(-279%) | (10) Storm Ryder 250/1, Once-raced maiden. 10/1 and hooded, last of 8 in bumper at Worcester (16f, good) on NH debut. Off 7 months. Makes hurdles debut. First run for yard after leaving Warren Greatrex. In rear on only bumper start in Britain for Warren Greatrex; switches to hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HYPERSONIC MISSILE did well in bumpers during his time with John McConnell and, with the switch to hurdles unlikely to pose any problems for this point-to-point winner, he holds leading claims on his stable bow for Gavin Cromwell. Touch Me Not fell at the last when clear on his sole appearance between the flags and has since been bought by powerful connections for 150,000 pounds. He will be expected to figure prominently on his Rules debut, while Anotherway and Catena Zapata also merit consideration.
There is a good chance ANOTHERWAY can leave the form of his Leopardstown run when returning from 17 months off behind and he could be the way to go in this weaker maiden. Hypersonic Missile and Touch Me Not are firm players, while Catena Zapata probably has a race like this in him.
No great strength in depth and it's quite likely that ANOTHERWAY will come on sufficiently from his hurdles debut to take this

1st (2) (11/4 -38%) Below The Radar |
11/4(-38%) | (2) Below The Radar 11/4, From the family of very smart chaser (stays 3m) Bennys King. Runner-up in 2 points and perfect start in bumpers when landing 2m Chepstow contest in November, beating a subsequent winner. Useful jumps prospect. Won a Chepstow bumper in November and he's strongly respected on this switch to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (9/4 +44%) Monks Meadow |
9/4(+44%) | (7) Monks Meadow 9/4, Runner-up on his completed outing in Irish points and has made an encouraging start over hurdles, going well in front when third in Ascot maiden over this trip 5 weeks ago (lost a shoe). Respected. Placed in all three hurdles runs and his latest form puts him firmly in the picture here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (14/1 -40%) Big John Wayne |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Big John Wayne 14/1, Half-brother to a point winner and fairly useful hurdler Mr Josiey Wales (3m winner, by Milan). Point winner in Ireland in October and one to note now hurdling. Landed the odds in his second Irish point and he needs a close look on his rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/4 +40%) Rock House |
6/4(+40%) | (1) Rock House 6/4, Point/bumper winner who easily landed the odds on hurdling bow at Worcester (2m) in September and built on that when third in Chepstow Grade 2 (19.4f) the following month. Disappointed on his handicap debut at Kempton over Christmas after a wind op but could bounce back up in trip. Flopped at Kempton last time but he sets good standard on his penultimate form; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (50/1 -213%) Just Chasing May |
50/1(-213%) | (4) Just Chasing May 50/1, Not unbacked but well held on debut in Doncaster bumper a year ago. Well held in his sole bumper last January and has work to do after a year off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (15/2 -88%) Mistral Blue |
15/2(-88%) | (6) Mistral Blue 15/2, Runner-up on last of 3 starts in bumpers and made a successful switch to hurdles in 19.5f Doncaster novice last month. That was a weak race but she did it easily. More to come up in trip. Impressive on hurdling debut at Doncaster and she's strongly respected under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (300/1 -100%) Raindance Queen |
300/1(-100%) | (9) Raindance Queen 300/1, Placed both starts between the flags early in 2022 but offered little in a 2m Newbury novice on hurdling debut in November. Up in trip. Back from a long absence with a heavy defeat on her hurdling debut at Newbury in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (300/1 -20%) Pearlymoon |
300/1(-20%) | (8) Pearlymoon 300/1, No show in Worcester bumper (for John Groucott) and 2m bumper here 7 months apart. Tailed off in sole bumper and was pulled up on his hurdling debut here in November. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Monks Meadow looks to be improving all the time and he ran a cracking race in a good Ascot maiden latest, particularly as he lost his right-fore shoe. He is expected to be competitive, while Rock House, Mistral Blue and Big John Wayne add further spice to the race. The vote, however, goes to BELOW THE RADAR. The form of his bumper success at Chepstow looks rock-solid, with the runner-up coming out and winning by 14 lengths next time, and jumping is unlikely to be an issue for Paul Nicholls' hurdling debutant, who has twice placed between the flags.
BELOW THE RADAR showed encouraging speed for one with a staying pedigree when landing a 2m Chepstow bumper 10 weeks ago and is clearly a useful jumping prospect. He can make a winning start in this sphere also. Monks Meadow and Doncaster-winner Mistral Blue are feared most.
An interesting race in which Paul Nicholls' bumper winner BELOW THE RADAR gets the vote on his hurdling debut.

1st (2) (6/1 -9%) Eagles Reign |
6/1(-9%) | (2) Eagles Reign 6/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. Third of 11 in juvenile hurdle at this course (16.7f, heavy, 12/1) 29 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Could do better. Heavy ground may not have suited latest, prospects on previous C&D second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +75%) Tranquil Sea |
3/1(+75%) | (6) Tranquil Sea 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 150/1, fourteenth of 19 in juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, heavy) 33 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Not progressive in four maidens; needs more fluency in jumping here on handicap bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 -54%) Burvea |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Burvea 10/1, Eighth of 14 in handicap (12/1) at Dundalk (10.7f) 13 days ago, slowly away. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Should have more to offer. Decent fifth in C&D maiden would give her a chance on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/4 -25%) Timeless Piece |
5/4(-25%) | (1) Timeless Piece 5/4, 4/1, improved when winning 9-runner handicap hurdle at Down Royal (17.2f, heavy) 6 days ago, easily. More to come judged on her fairly useful Flat form and good shout. Runaway Down Royal winner last week; up 12lb but further improvement likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 -82%) Biggerthanbigtime |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Biggerthanbigtime 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 13/2, respectable seventh of 12 in juvenile hurdle at this course (16.7f, soft) 65 days ago. Hood back on. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Front-runner needs to settle better than here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/1 -8%) Doctor Nightingale |
7/1(-8%) | (4) Doctor Nightingale 7/1, 18/1, 33 lengths eighth of 9 to Wodhooh in listed juvenile hurdle at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft) 59 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Needs a bit more now handicapping. Out of depth last time, chance on best form though doesn't appear that progressive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Timeless Piece is sure to prove popular after romping home by 10 lengths on her handicap hurdle bow at Down Royal last week. However, Gordon Elliott's filly does have a 12lb rise to contend with, so it may pay to take a punt on her stablemate DOCTOR NIGHTINGALE. Lightly raced on the Flat, she has picked up plenty of experience over timber so far and has offered enough to suggest that her opening mark is workable. Burvea may fare best of the remainder.
TIMELESS PIECE was much improved for the switch to handicaps when winning easily at Down Royal last week and can strike again. Burvea and Eagles Reign could be dangerous.
Despite having to shoulder top-weight recent Down Royal winner TIMELESS PIECE (nap) is taken to follow up off 12lb higher

4/6(+62%) | (6) Westerninthepark 4/6, Landed Stratford bumper last spring and posted a promising third of 12 in novice at Exeter (18.5f, soft) on hurdles bow 97 days ago on his final run for Milton Harris. The clear form pick. Bumper winner who was a promising third on his hurdling debut (2m2f) in October; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (18/1 -260%) Madam Ryder |
18/1(-260%) | (9) Madam Ryder 18/1, Showed some promise in bumpers and shaped as if in need of the experience under a considerate ride on her hurdling debut when tenth of 13 in novice (5/1) at Lingfield (16f, good to soft) 49 days ago. Up in trip. Should progress. Well held on hurdling debut at Lingfield; could show a lot more over this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/4 -38%) Kilbarry Hill |
9/4(-38%) | (3) Kilbarry Hill 9/4, Runner-up twice in Irish points and has shown fair form when placed on all his three runs over hurdles, tongue strap on for 1st time when third of 8 in novice at Sedgefield (19.8f, soft) 34 days ago. Enters calculations. Placed in all three hurdles runs (2m-2m4f) and he sets the standard here; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (80/1 -142%) Overabottleofred |
80/1(-142%) | (11) Overabottleofred 80/1, Showed some promise when fifth at Warwick on her hurdling bow and in midfield when fell 3 out in novice hurdle (50/1) at Hereford (21.7f, soft) 25 days ago. Can do better. Has ability but her jumping has been an issue so far and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (50/1 -257%) Footy's Bridge |
50/1(-257%) | (2) Footy's Bridge 50/1, Took a step forward from his hurdling bow when second in 6-runner novice (20.2f) at Perth (20.2f, good) in June 2022. Sold from Gordon Elliott's yard for only £2,000 subsequently, though. Second at Perth in June 2022 but he's not been seen since; best watched on comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (50/1 +0%) Mountain Bay |
50/1(+0%) | (4) Mountain Bay 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden who showed some ability when fifth in Wincanton novice on penultimate start over hurdles. Needs to bounce back after a lesser showing at Exeter since though. Down the field at big prices in all five runs including three over hurdles; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (250/1 -150%) Stop This Train |
250/1(-150%) | (12) Stop This Train 250/1, Placed once from 4 starts in Irish points but has offered little in a trio of maiden hurdles and a novice chase. Has struggled in all four runs under rules and can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (200/1 -100%) Chief Lady |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Chief Lady 200/1, Winning pointer but went backwards from hurdling bow when only seventh of 10 in a maiden at Lingfield (19.5f, good to soft, 200/1) 60 days ago. Irish point winner but she's made a low-key start over hurdles this season; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (17/2 -70%) Ballyvaughan Bay |
17/2(-70%) | (1) Ballyvaughan Bay 17/2, 5/1 and hooded, first run since leaving John Murphy when second of 7 in novice hurdle at Fakenham (20f, heavy) on hurdles bow 41 days ago. Considered. Encouraging start over hurdles when runner-up at Fakenham on recent comeback; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (9/1 +36%) Musique De Fee |
9/1(+36%) | (10) Musique De Fee 9/1, Ran to modest level both starts in bumpers and given a considerate introduction over hurdles when fourth of seven at Wincanton (2m5f) last month. Can take a step forward. Well held in her last two runs (bumper/hurdle) and she needs significant improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (200/1 -400%) Jiggaway |
200/1(-400%) | (8) Jiggaway 200/1, Down the field in a pair of bumpers and a lot more required if she's to feature on her hurdling debut. Didn't show much in two bumpers in the autumn and needs to leave that form miles behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (250/1 -150%) The Old Bull |
250/1(-150%) | (5) The Old Bull 250/1, 300/1, twelfth of 13 in novice hurdle at Doncaster (16.6f, soft) on hurdles bow 19 days ago. Up in trip with lots to find. Tailed off in two bumpers and was beaten out of sight on his recent hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
KILBARRY HILL has been consistent so far this season, posting solid efforts to finish placed on all three of his starts, and he may be able to get his head in front in what looks a winnable contest. Ballyvaughan Bay is open to plenty of improvement after just two starts under Rules and he may prove the main danger to the selection. Madam Ryder will need to bounce back from a lacklustre effort at Lingfield over 2m last month if she is to feature, but she represents a top stable and is not totally dismissed.
WESTERNINTHEPARK sets a good standard on the form of his hurdling debut third at Exeter for Milton Harris so is taken to make a winning start for his new handler. Nicky Henderson's Madam Ryder should have learned a lot from her debut Lingfield tenth and can emerge as the main danger, with Kilbarry Hill and Ballyvaughan Bay appealing as the pick of the rest for place purposes.
Top of the list is KILBARRY HILL, who has finished placed in all of his three hurdle runs this winter and sets the standard.

1st (4) (11/2 -10%) Menaggio |
11/2(-10%) | (4) Menaggio 11/2, Showed ability when sixth in big-field Newbury bumper on debut and has offered something to work on both starts over hurdles this season, keeping on well for second in Plumpton maiden (20.5f) in December. Enters calculations. Something to find on form but did well at Plumpton latest (2m4f); can step up on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 -23%) Don't Tell Su |
2/1(-23%) | (2) Don't Tell Su 2/1, Successful at Chepstow on second start in bumpers and shaped encouragingly on hurdles bow when runner-up at the same course (19.4f) in October. Failed to progress at Exeter (16.7f) next time, but he remains with potential back up in distance. Major player. Bumper winner; useful hurdle debut over 2m3f; not so good since; of interest over new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (150/1 -200%) My Monty |
150/1(-200%) | (5) My Monty 150/1, Showed more than previously in first-time tongue strap when fourth of 9 at Stratford on final outing in bumpers. However, after 7 months off he fell at the first in novice hurdle (15.8f) at Ludlow in October. Up in trip on first run after leaving Samuel Drinkwater. Fell first on hurdle debut (100-1); can only watch for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/7 +37%) Bhaloo |
4/7(+37%) | (1) Bhaloo 4/7, Market Rasen bumper winner for Fergal O'Brien last spring and, after 7 months off, showed plenty when third in Kempton novice on his stable/hurdling debut. Suited by step up in trip when scoring at Doncaster (19.4f) in December, so he's respected with more still to come. Bumper winner; didn't have to exert himself in 2m3f hurdle latest; penalised; good claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (80/1 -142%) Friars Island Lady |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Friars Island Lady 80/1, Irish point winner but not much encouragement in 2 novice hurdles, finishing well held following a wind op when fourth of 6 at Wincanton (15.2f) 23 days ago. Goes back up in trip with hood now reached for. Won the latest of 8 Irish points; minor hurdle form so far; handicaps more likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (250/1 -67%) Johns Dream |
250/1(-67%) | (3) Johns Dream 250/1, Third on completed outing in Irish points but has offered little in 3 starts under Rules, well-beaten ninth of 15 in novice hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f) in December. Step up in trip not enough to tempt. Ability in Irish point; low key in Britain so far and waiting for a handicap mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (22/1 +12%) Village Master |
22/1(+12%) | (8) Village Master 22/1, Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points and showed a bit, despite finishing well beaten, when fifth of 11 in novice at Chepstow (19.4f) on hurdles debut, making headway home turn before weakening. Capable of better. Close up in Irish point last May; tailed off on hurdle debut over 2m3f last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (28/1 +15%) Pearl Island |
28/1(+15%) | (6) Pearl Island 28/1, Shaped like a stayer when placed in 2 bumpers and it's been a similar story both starts over hurdles, unsuited by the drop in trip when well held in novice at Bangor (16.7f) 45 days ago. Improvement needed back up in distance with cheekpieces applied. Fourth to subsequent winners on hurdle debut; didn't shine latest; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (80/1 -142%) Spot Of Bother |
80/1(-142%) | (7) Spot Of Bother 80/1, Placed on second of 2 outings in Irish points in March 2022, but beaten a long way out when pulled up in maiden at Wincanton (24.7f) on hurdles bow 17 days ago. Needs to leave his recent run well behind. In the frame in Irish points in 2022; pulled up on first run since; other days. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BHALOO has done nothing but improve in four starts to date and there was much to like about the manner of his extended 2m3f victory at Doncaster last time. With no fears over this longer distance, he can see off chief rival Don't Tell Su, who is respected for all he took a backward step at Exeter. Plumpton runner-up Menaggio also has a squeak, but he certainly needs to jump better if he is to land the spoils.
DON'T TELL SU bumped into subsequent Grade 2 winner Minella Missile when second at Chepstow on his hurdling debut, so he's worth another chance to build on that promise as he goes back up in trip. He can see off the challenge of Bhaloo, who isn't taken lightly with further improvement to come, while Menaggio is the pick of the remainder.
Menaggio and Don't Tell Su have something to recommend them but BHALOO looks the one to beat.

4/7(+65%) | (1) Bioluminescence 4/7, Promising type. Second of 19 in maiden (9/4) at Navan (16f, heavy) on hurdles bow 71 days ago. Up in trip. The one to beat with improvement on the cards. Clear Navan second looks good form; upped in trip and major chance of going one better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (9/1 -20%) Tareze |
9/1(-20%) | (9) Tareze 9/1, Won sole start in points (Apr 2023). The second has won a bumper since so the form has some substance. Joined a good yard and respected on Rules debut, particularly if the betting vibes are strong. Point-to-point winner for Colin Bowe; interesting now on rules debut for top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/4 -13%) Paggane |
9/4(-13%) | (6) Paggane 9/4, Fair Flat winner. Promising individual. Second of 22 in maiden hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy, 9/4) 23 days ago. Up in trip. Open to progress for top yard. Cork second needs more fluency in jumping; step up in trip could suit. |

80/1(-300%) | (10) Well Dressed 80/1, Westerner mare. Dam (c127/h150) 2m-2½m hurdle/chase winner (stayed 2¾m). The betting should help guide to expectations with this newcomer. Owner has a more obvious contender in Bioluminescence, likely all the better for the run. |

5th (3) (14/1 -87%) Lady Bluebird |
14/1(-87%) | (3) Lady Bluebird 14/1, 6/1, career best when winning 18-runner bumper at this course (18.4f, heavy) 29 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Recent 2m2f bumper winner here; trip should suit on hurdles debut. |

6th (2) (18/1 -157%) Cooltubrid Eva |
18/1(-157%) | (2) Cooltubrid Eva 18/1, Once-raced maiden. 150/1, second of 16 in maiden hurdle at Limerick (20f, heavy) on NH debut 33 days ago. Limerick debut second augurs well although more likely required here. |

7th (8) (16/1 -60%) Sainte Baol |
16/1(-60%) | (8) Sainte Baol 16/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. 6/1, fifth of 8 in bumper at Limerick (16f, heavy) on bumper debut 34 days ago. Switches from bumpers to hurdles. Up in trip. Should progress. Well behind Bioluminescence at Navan and tame effort subsequently in Limerick bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (80/1 -142%) Molly Hall |
80/1(-142%) | (4) Molly Hall 80/1, Modest Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. 25/1, distant fourth of 14 in maiden at Clonmel (16.5f, heavy) on hurdles bow 18 days ago. Up in trip. Probably more one for handicaps in this sphere. Remote fourth at Clonmel on recent hurdles debut leaves her with plenty to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (150/1 -127%) Mrs Biddle |
150/1(-127%) | (5) Mrs Biddle 150/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Switches from bumpers to hurdles. Back up in trip. Rejoined yard after leaving WilliamDelahunty. Modest point-to-point form and both outings under Rules don't suggest she'll have a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (40/1 -60%) Queen Of Seduction |
40/1(-60%) | (7) Queen Of Seduction 40/1, Once-raced maiden over hurdles. Fairly useful winner at 12f on flat. Fifth of 22 in novice hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy, 25/1) on NH debut 23 days ago. Up in trip. Likely to improve for experience. Plenty to find with Paggane on Cork form; not sure this step up in trip will suit either. |

|PU| (11) (150/1 -50%) Who Do You Think |
150/1(-50%) | (11) Who Do You Think 150/1, Once-raced maiden. Thirteenth of 14 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.5f, heavy, 150/1) on NH debut 18 days ago. Up in trip. Westerner mare jumped poorly when tailed off on Clonmel debut earlier in the month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Point-to-point winner Tareze must be respected on her Rules debut for a top stable, but it may pay to side with the more experienced BIOLUMINESCENCE. Gavin Cromwell's charge kept on well to finish second over 2m at Navan on her hurdling bow, and this step up in trip can help her to get her head in front. Paggane finished a well-beaten fifth behind the selection that day, but improved to occupy the runner-up berth at Cork and warrants consideration for her powerful connections.
BIOLUMINESCENCE produced a promising first effort over hurdles when second over 2m at Navan in November and can go one better with this longer trip likely to suit on pedigree. Cork runner-up Paggane rates an obvious danger for the Willie Mullins team, while Henry de Bromhead point recruit Tareze would also need considering if the betting suggests she's fancied.
This step up in trip should suit BIOLUMINESCENCE, who was staying on well at the finish over 2m at Navan

1st (1) (10/11 -36%) Duhallow Tommy |
10/11(-36%) | (1) Duhallow Tommy 10/11, Had shown just modest form over hurdles earlier this season but was the subject of strong support and proved a different proposition sent chasing after a breathing operation as he easily won a similar event over C&D last week, beating Clondaw Robin by 13 lengths. The one to beat under a penalty. Won by 13l over C&D on last week's chasing debut; ought to be hard to beat under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 +11%) Filanderer |
2/1(+11%) | (2) Filanderer 2/1, Disappointing on the whole over hurdles but is built for chasing and ran much better on his first start over fences when second at Wincanton (2m) 6 weeks ago, unlucky to bump into a classy rival (now rated 139) in a 0-120. Big shout off the same mark down in class. Ran well in defeat behind a subsequent Cheltenham winner on last month's chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (33/1 +18%) Elpologreg |
33/1(+18%) | (4) Elpologreg 33/1, Modest maiden hurdler and little show in 2 handicap chases, including over further here 6 weeks ago. 33-1 third in a maiden hurdle last spring but well beaten in first two handicap chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (40/1 -21%) Nathan Walker |
40/1(-21%) | (3) Nathan Walker 40/1, Poor maiden hurdler, her best run coming here in November. Switches to chasing with improvement needed but it's possible. Struggled in both handicap hurdles; drops back in trip for chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/1 -25%) Cobbs Corner |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Cobbs Corner 10/1, Handicap hurdle winner last autumn. Encouraging runs completed starts over fences this term, including over further here 6 weeks ago. Hard to see him taking this. Well held when brought down two starts ago but ran well in other two chases; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (15/2 +25%) Clondaw Robin |
15/2(+25%) | (5) Clondaw Robin 15/2, Just 1 win to his name but continues in good heart, no match and beaten 13 lengths by Duhallow Tommy over C&D last week. Vulnerable. 0-22 over fences but in good form lately and ought to make his presence felt again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DUHALLOW TOMMY impressed when scoring by 13 lengths on his chasing debut over this C&D last week, beating the reopposing Clondaw Robin into second, and a 7lb penalty may not be enough to stop Toby Lawes' gelding from going in again. Filanderer was a five-length second behind a subsequent winner and potentially useful sort at Wincanton last month and he rates the biggest danger racing off an unchanged mark.
DUHALLOW TOMMY proved a different proposition as he made a successful debut over fences in taking style here last week and should be hard to beat under a penalty if in the same form. Filanderer is a big threat after his fine second to the now 139-rated Libberty Hunter in a stronger race at Wincanton 6 weeks ago.
It's hard to get away from DUHALLOW TOMMY, who stayed on well for a clearcut C&D win on last week's chasing debut.

1st (1) (4/1 -14%) Guy |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Guy 4/1, Winning return to fences at Fontwell in October. Ran creditably on his next 3 starts and likely found the ground too soft when a well-held third at Newbury over Christmas. Has dropped to below the mark he defied at Fontwell. Might prove the answer. In good form at about 2m this winter; below latest winning mark in October; claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +44%) Jupiter Du Gite |
5/2(+44%) | (5) Jupiter Du Gite 5/2, Caused a major upset when making all on British/hurdles debut at Newbury 13 months ago but not built on that subsequently, probably doing too much too soon when well beaten sixth over hurdles at Sandown last month. Goes chasing now with yard in good form. Impressive hurdle debut; failed to run to anywhere near that level since; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 -20%) Wewillgowithplanb |
3/1(-20%) | (4) Wewillgowithplanb 3/1, Ex-Irish hurdle winner who did the job well on his chase debut at Fontwell last March. Off 9 months, raced freely and faded into fifth of 8 at Newbury (2m, soft) last month. That should have knocked some of the freshness out of him and he remains unexposed as a chaser. Convincing chase debut winner; fair return in better race last month; every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (14/1 -87%) Rocky Lake |
14/1(-87%) | (6) Rocky Lake 14/1, Winning hurdler who has yet to progress from a promising debut in this sphere, pulling up at Market Rasen when last seen in November. Needs first-time cheekpieces to give him a lift. Not gone on from promising 2m4f chase debut last winter; pulled up latest; headgear on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 -14%) Ardmayle |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Ardmayle 16/1, Scored over fences at Southwell and C&D last spring. Presumably needed the outing when well held in Ascot handicap hurdle on reappearance and better expected now back chasing. Front-runs; won 2 of 3 most recent chase starts last spring, including C&D; not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/2 +0%) Wasthatok |
9/2(+0%) | (2) Wasthatok 9/2, Maiden hurdle winner for Gavin Cromwell last spring. Has left that stable since finishing a creditable second in Market Rasen novice hurdle in August. Switches to fences and handicap company for the first time now setting out for a new yard. Also tongue tied first time. Won 1m7f maiden hurdle in Ireland; first handicap/chase but dam dual 2m4f winning chaser. |

7th (8) (100/1 -52%) Whyzzat |
100/1(-52%) | (8) Whyzzat 100/1, Fair hurdle winner in Ireland in 2021. Very lightly raced since, failing to build on a comeback run over C&D when a distant last of 4 in Doncaster handicap hurdle just after Christmas. 4 lb out of handicap and easy to look elsewhere. Minor handicap form so far over hurdles and fences in Britain; 4lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (9/1 -50%) Stormin Crossgales |
9/1(-50%) | (3) Stormin Crossgales 9/1, Hurdle/chase winner who often doesn't help himself by racing too keenly. Faded into 12 lengths third back over fences at Ludlow last time and suspicion he might find the odd one too strong again. Made all for successful chase debut in November 2022; not noted for strong finishes since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A chance is taken on chasing/stable debutant WASTHATOK. He has won and finished runner-up in just three hurdle appearances and, open to any amount of improvement, he could exploit an opening mark of 120. The dropped-in-class Guy continues to creep down the ratings and it would come as no surprise to see him play a leading role, while Wewillgowithplanb and Stormin Crossgales also have their sights lowered and can't be ruled out.
GUY probably found the ground too soft for him when a below-form third at Newbury last time and might be worth siding with having dipped to 1 lb below the mark he defied at Fontwell in the autumn. Wewillgowithplanb should be sharper with his Newbury run behind him and is second choice. Ardmayle was a C&D winner last spring and should step up on his reappearance now returned to fences.
Jupiter Du Gite is not ruled out now he goes chasing but preference is for WEWILLGOWITHPLANB who should still have some potential.

2nd (3) (9/2 -13%) Find A Fortune |
9/2(-13%) | (3) Find A Fortune 9/2, Promising individual. Fourth of 10 in novice hurdle at Navan (20f, heavy, 11/1) on hurdles bow 43 days ago, not knocked about. May well do better. Navan fourth going the right way but good bit more likely required here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +33%) Beau Walking |
3/1(+33%) | (1) Beau Walking 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue strap on for 1st time, respectable third of 8 in novice hurdle (3/1) at Limerick (21f, heavy) 32 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Worth consideration on pick of form. Placed in all four maidens, likely place prospects again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (80/1 -220%) Tramps Like Us |
80/1(-220%) | (6) Tramps Like Us 80/1, Modest hurdler. 25/1, pulled up in novice hurdle at Wexford (20f, heavy) 73 days ago, pulled up before last. Limerick run okay but jumping let him down at Wexford; others preferred. |

5th (4) (9/1 -50%) He's Ultimate |
9/1(-50%) | (4) He's Ultimate 9/1, Twice-raced maiden. 7/2, sixth of 12 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (20.2f, soft) 34 days ago. Needs another step forward. 2m4f trip seemingly stretched him on latest; may ideally want better ground. |

6th (5) (200/1 -100%) Inforapound |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Inforapound 200/1, Once-raced maiden. Twelfth of 14 in novice hurdle (100/1) at Tramore (16.8f, heavy) on NH debut 28 days ago. Behind throughout on Tramore debut on New Year's Day; easily overlooked. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
An intriguing recruit from the Flat in France, where he was successful in July 2022, BILLERICAY DICKIE can strike for his in-form connections, who have taken this contest for the past two years. Related to recent Leopardstown scorer Intellotto, the son of New Bay has been given Cheltenham Festival entries so should have too much for He's Ultimate, as well as Beau Walking, who has been placed on each of his four starts in this sphere and may be one for handicaps down the line.
BILLERICAY DICKIE looked a good prospect when winning on the Flat in France so is fancied to find his rhythm straight away for Willie Mullins and go in at the first time of asking in this sphere. Find A Fortune also has better days ahead of him and is next best ahead of the lightly-raed Beau Walking.
Not a strong maiden hurdle for the venue and dual Cheltenham entry BILLERICAY DICKIE should be up to taking this on hurdles debut

1st (3) (2/9 +50%) Junkanoo |
2/9(+50%) | (3) Junkanoo 2/9, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 11.5f) and has taken well to hurdling, finishing runner-up on all 3 starts. Went down by only a nose in Kempton novice 16 days and this looks a good chance to go one better. Triple Flat winner; useful hurdle form in defeat and tenacious latest; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 -8%) Colours On Canvas |
13/2(-8%) | (1) Colours On Canvas 13/2, Built on his debut promise in Ireland when making a successful start for this yard in 2m Lingfield novice hurdle in November. Well beaten in a C&D handicap since, though, and he'll need an improved effort to give weight to Junkanoo here. Cheekpieces go on. Produced bright finish to win at Lingfield (2m, good to soft); faded on soft since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 -33%) Gearing's Point |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Gearing's Point 16/1, In good form on the Flat last year, winning 4 handicaps around 1½m. Showed an aptitude for hurdling when second of 8 in Fontwell maiden hurdle in August but the form is only modest. Ran respectably on AW Flat 9 days ago. Three middle-distance Flat wins on good/good to firm; minor form when 2nd on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (100/1 -525%) Master Chartwell |
100/1(-525%) | (6) Master Chartwell 100/1, Seemed to show a fair level of ability on his Flat debut but well below that level in 3 subsequent outings in that sphere, including for this yard at Lingfield last month. Junkanoo looks very much the stable first string. Very modest Flat form since some promise on first run for previous yard; hurdle debut. |

5th (2) (150/1 -127%) Dreadpoetssociety |
150/1(-127%) | (2) Dreadpoetssociety 150/1, Little impact in 2 bumpers for Warren Greatrex in the first half of 2023 and pulled up on Fontwell hurdle debut for his new stable on Boxing Day. No impact in bumpers for previous yard; pulled up on hurdle debut at Fontwell (66-1). |

6th (4) (9/1 -100%) Mako Of The Glade |
9/1(-100%) | (4) Mako Of The Glade 9/1, Fair form when reaching the frame in 2 juvenile hurdles in France in autumn 2021 but it's taken new connections over 2 years to get him to the track. Showed promise in France in late 2021; sold 50,000euros since; likely to need the run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
JUNKANOO has made a satisfactory start to life over hurdles, last seen running with plenty of credit when finishing a close-up second at Kempton. He should make a bold bid to go one place better for a yard who tend to excel with ex-Flat horses. Mako Of The Glade is of major interest on his first start for the Venetia Williams stable, particularly if the betting market speaks favourably about his chances. Gearing's Point was last seen finishing a creditable fifth at Lingfield over 1m4f on the Flat, but he will need to improve on his Fontwell second in order to trouble the selection.
This looks a good opportunity for JUNKANOO to get off the mark over hurdles. Lingfield-winner Colours On Canvas could be the one to follow Gary Moore's charge home unless the market vibes are positive surrounding the returning Mako of The Glade.
Barring accidents, this is a golden opportunity for JUNKANOO who should be much too good for these rivals.

1st (4) (11/8 +45%) Black Hawk Eagle |
11/8(+45%) | (4) Black Hawk Eagle 11/8, Fairly useful Flat/hurdles winner for Noel Meade who struck at only the second time of asking for new trainer Kerry Lee in 2m Wincanton handicap (soft) on Boxing Day. Saw off a next-time-out winner with a bit in hand and still looks fairly treated after a 5 lb rise. Promising Flat stayer in Ireland; useful win on second hurdle run for new yard; up 5lb. |

2nd (7) (4/1 +0%) Mr Mackay |
4/1(+0%) | (7) Mr Mackay 4/1, In-the-frame on 3 of his 4 starts in bumpers and confirmed reappearance/hurdle debut promise when landing 6-runner Huntingdon maiden (19.5f) in October. Improved on handicap bow when fourth at Cheltenham in November but took his first backward step over hurdles at that same venue last time. Acts on good to soft; comes into it on best handicap form over 2m at Cheltenham. |

3rd (6) (5/1 +0%) Playtogetaway |
5/1(+0%) | (6) Playtogetaway 5/1, 2-2 in small-field handicaps in the first half of 2023. In a more competitive environment on this return from 8 months off but he's likely capable of better again and his stable is going well. On the shortlist. Made it 2-2 in handicaps last June (2m; good to soft and good); off since but more to come. |

4th (5) (10/1 -25%) Master Dancer |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Master Dancer 10/1, Winning chaser in France who scored over hurdles in Britain last season but lost his way at the end of the campaign. Well-held third of 4 reverted to fences on his Fontwell reappearance in October but had an excuse after being hampered early. Now back hurdling after another 114 days off. Chase winner on good to soft in France; weights case can be made on best hurdle form. |

5th (3) (22/1 -57%) Getalead |
22/1(-57%) | (3) Getalead 22/1, Added to his tally with pair of small-field victories in September 2022 but lost his way for Claire Harris in the second half of last season and his recent debut for this trainer (after 10 months off) wasn't overly encouraging. Five hurdle wins at 2m3f-2m5f; solid excuses for recent trainer debut; trip query at 2m. |

|F| (9) (16/1 +60%) Not Now Kanne |
16/1(+60%) | (9) Not Now Kanne 16/1, French Flat winner. Fair form in a juvenile hurdle there last March. Didn't shape too badly considering he pulled hard when sixth of 14 in 2m Taunton novice hurdle on yard debut last month. Hopefully that has knocked some of the freshness out of him and he's unexposed now handicapping. Flat winner at 1m7f in France; hurdle promise there; improve for latest; handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Although TARAHUMARA was disappointing when pulling up at Exeter in late November, the extended 2m2f distance may have stretched his stamina that day. Prior to that, the eight-year-old appeared ahead of the handicapper and a return to 2m may help him regain the winning thread. The progressive Playtogetaway completed a double at Worcester back in June and is feared most on his return to action, ahead of Black Hawk Eagle.
BLACK HAWK EAGLE had his Wincanton form boosted when the second went in at Sandown on Friday and Kerry Lee's 6-y-o can show he's still on a good mark. Playtogetaway will be a threat if resuming in the same form as when winning 2 handicaps in the first half of 2023. Tarahumara had a possible excuse at Exeter last time and had been progressive prior to that so he's another who could have a say.
Playtogetaway is 2-2 in handicaps but has been off since June and BLACK HAWK EAGLE (nap) is likely to put up strong resistance.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CHAMPAGNE ADMIRAL accounted for a useful rival when winning a handicap over this distance at Leopardstown a month ago and the six-year-old merits the utmost respect on the back of that performance. The unexposed Joyau De Thaix is an obvious threat following his success at Limerick and Paul Nolan's gelding should have more to offer on just his third start. Cases can be made for all of the remainder, but Built By Ballymore is arguably the pick of them.
Quite a trappy contest but BUILT BY BALLYMORE looks the type to go on improving and can follow up from Limerick. Champagne Admiral and Joyau de Thaix both won last time out also and should be in the thick of things again.
He got a very good ride but it was still a meritorious effort by CHAMPAGNE ADMIRAL to beat a useful type over this trip at Leopardstown

Had plenty go wrong when seventh of 20 in a Cheltenham handicap since and he remains capable of better. Worcester winner who is still unexposed and is respected back in calmer waters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 +72%) Hasty Parisian |
5/1(+72%) | (6) Hasty Parisian 5/1, Consistent sort who was in the process of running his usual creditable race back from 4 months off when departing 2 out at Newton Abbot (21.6f, heavy) in October. However, he's hard to make a case for based on his subsequent efforts. Just 1-17 over hurdles and he hasn't fired in last two runs; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (5/1 +9%) For Gina |
5/1(+9%) | (7) For Gina 5/1, Hasn't done much wrong since sent handicapping, notching her second success in good style at Fakenham (23.4f, soft) last time. Raised 8 lb for that, plus she's 3 lb 'wrong' here, but her reliability counts for plenty and another bold show could be on the way. Progressive 6yo who won by 11l at Fakenham last time; 8lb higher here but she's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 -50%) Lassue |
9/2(-50%) | (4) Lassue 9/2, Point winner who made a winning handicap debut on the back of a lengthy absence at Chepstow (23.6f, soft) in October. Solid efforts in defeat at Ascot and Kempton since, and she's likely to be in the thick of things once again. Record of 21133 over hurdles and she's open to more progress at staying trips; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (12/1 -33%) Monjules |
12/1(-33%) | (5) Monjules 12/1, Progressive for this yard last season, winning 3 handicap hurdles, and found just one too good on return here in November. (20.5f, good to soft) 6 weeks ago. No encouragement tried over fences last time but he could have a part to play back in this sphere. Went close here on penultimate run but he has stamina to prove at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (40/1 -122%) Diesel D'allier |
40/1(-122%) | (1) Diesel D'allier 40/1, Formerly a useful chaser on the cross-country circuit and posted his best effort for a while when sixth of 13 in such a race at Cheltenham last time. Well held first hurdles start since 2017 in a Warwick novice in October but he is on an attractive mark for his handicap debut in this sphere. Fair sixth in cross country race at Cheltenham latest; on dangerous mark back over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Lassue posted another creditable effort in defeat when third in a class 2 event at Kempton last month. This ease in grade should help the daughter of Geordieland and another bold bid is anticipated off only 1lb higher in the ratings. However, she's likely to be priced accordingly, so it may pay to take a punt on potential improver ILOVETHENIGHTLIFE. Joe Tizzard's mare could relish this extra distance and the six-year-old has more going for her than most. The lightly-raced Doughmore Bay is also worth a second look.
While cases can be made for the majority of these, DOUGHMORE BAY is almost certainly the one with the greatest potential. He shaped better than the bare result on his handicap debut at Cheltenham and, granted better luck here, he could be the answer. Ilovethenightlife left the impression that this stiffer test would be in her favour when putting in good late work over 2½m on her latest start and she is feared most. Lassue and For Gina are also appealing.
The vote goes to LASSUE, who has form figures of 21133 over hurdles and still has potential as a stayer.

1st (2) (7/4 +42%) Henry's Friend |
7/4(+42%) | (2) Henry's Friend 7/4, Showed useful form at only the second time of asking over fences when landing 7-runner handicap chase at Newbury (22.4f, soft, 17/2) 30 days ago. All out to score there but he's open to further improvement as a chaser and still looks well treated following a 3 lb rise. Made good transition to fences, jumped well virtually throughout for Newbury win (2m6f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (16/1 -33%) Deeper Blue |
16/1(-33%) | (3) Deeper Blue 16/1, Improved when winning maiden and handicap hurdles in spring 2022. Missed the bulk of last season but showed he retains ability when runner-up on his return at Plumpton. Bit to prove after lacklustre effort at Doncaster last time, though. Showed promise on second chase start (2m3f); beaten long way out since; shaky win claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 -57%) Rock My Way |
11/2(-57%) | (1) Rock My Way 11/2, Didn't really go on over hurdles after notching a Grade 2 novice hurdle win at Cheltenham last year but his debut chasing effort when second of 5 in handicap at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) was a decent start in this sphere. May not have loads in hand from current mark but respected all the same. Winning Irish pointer; won Grade 2 hurdle last January; solid chase debut; has potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/2 +50%) Hardy Fella |
9/2(+50%) | (7) Hardy Fella 9/2, Progressive staying hurdler last season and surpassed that form on the second attempt over fences when scrambling home at Fontwell in November. Fifth at Plumpton since and others still appeal as better-treated. Scraped home on 2nd chase start (2m3f); latest 5th at Plumpton looks better form now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 +18%) Harbour Lake |
9/2(+18%) | (4) Harbour Lake 9/2, Won his first 4 completed starts over hurdles and held his own in to-end handicaps subsequently last term. Well backed but made errors before pulling up on chase debut, though he has the physiqeue for this discipline and should do better. Four hurdle wins at 2m-2m4f but tentative start to chase career when pulled up at Aintree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (8/1 -33%) Supreme Gift |
8/1(-33%) | (5) Supreme Gift 8/1, Triple winner in novice hurdles last season and improved from his chasing debut to score in a 4-runner Ascot handicap in November. Not in the same form at Aintree on Boxing Day, so bounce back is called for. Won 3-5 hurdle completions; promising novice chase win at Ascot (2m3f); letdown since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 -82%) Russian Ruler |
10/1(-82%) | (6) Russian Ruler 10/1, Evidently not been the easiest to train but he seemed on the improve when landing Newbury handicap and Kempton novice late last season. Showed aptitude on his chase debut bu seemed in discomfort from some way out at Kempton on Boxing Day and he's got something to prove now. Progressive hurdler; satisfactory chase debut but didn't make a good impression latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HENRY'S FRIEND built on the foundations of a promising chasing-bow fifth at Doncaster when opening his account over fences at Newbury. A 3lb rise looks more than workable for Ben Pauling's gelding and there should be more to come in this sphere. Rock My Way was far from disgraced on his opening bid over the larger obstacles when second at Plumpton. A Grade 2 winner as a novice hurdler, he isn't taken lightly, with Hardy Fella completing the shortlist.
HENRY'S FRIEND has been given only a marginal rise for last month's Newbury success, and with further improvement likely to come, is fancied to follow up. Rock My Way made a solid start to his chasing career at Plumpton last time and is of interest again, whilst Harbour Lake will surely prove better than he was able to show on chase debut and may be worth another chance.
Rock My Way can improve on his chase debut but HENRY'S FRIEND put up a good all-round show when winning at Newbury and is preferred.

1st (15) (17/2 +58%) Silent Flight |
17/2(+58%) | (15) Silent Flight 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Bit below form ninth of 21 in handicap hurdle (25/1) at Naas (16f, soft) 17 days ago. Up in trip. Others more persuasive. Fourth on handicap debut in late 2022; creditable mid-field finish on return at Naas. |

2nd (10) (10/3 +76%) Moonlight Getaway |
10/3(+76%) | (10) Moonlight Getaway 10/3, 18/1, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (20f, heavy) 18 days ago, not knocked about. Best days are presumably ahead of her but others make more appeal. Caught the eye on handicap debut here a year ago and better for Clonmel comeback. |

3rd (2) (33/1 -65%) Balum |
33/1(-65%) | (2) Balum 33/1, Fifth of 13 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, good, 50/1), finishing with running left. Off 15 months ahead of this handicap debut. Showed ability in bumpers and Fairyhouse maiden hurdle; handicap debut after long lay-off. |

4th (3) (14/1 +30%) Knockbrack Rambler |
14/1(+30%) | (3) Knockbrack Rambler 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 50/1, eighth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy) 33 days ago. Up in trip and likely to do better at some point. Modest late headway when mid-division over 2m on handicap debut and bred to stay this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (14/1 -40%) Glenabo Bridge |
14/1(-40%) | (12) Glenabo Bridge 14/1, Course winner. 16/1, respectable fourth of 13 in handicap hurdle at this course (22.9f, soft) 14 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Doughty veteran ground it out to beat Quornofamonday at Fairyhouse in November; may place. |

6th (1) (4/1 +43%) Gold Haven |
4/1(+43%) | (1) Gold Haven 4/1, 4/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, heavy) 5 days ago, folding after 3 out. Booking of Gilligan a plus. Tongue strap and cheekpieces back on. Enters calculations. Maiden had an excuse for disappointing run last week; chance on previous placed form. |

7th (13) (33/1 +0%) Joe's Turn |
33/1(+0%) | (13) Joe's Turn 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 66/1, last of 13 in novice hurdle at Tipperary (24f, good). Off 8 months. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Unbeaten in two points and placed in bumper; nothing in maidens; makes handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (14/1 -300%) Verbal Sparring |
14/1(-300%) | (5) Verbal Sparring 14/1, Good second of 22 in handicap hurdle (18/1) at this course (16.7f, heavy) 29 days ago, sticking to task. Not taken lightly. Second in a big field here over 2m (winner just failed to follow up); stamina to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (7/2 +0%) Quornofamonday |
7/2(+0%) | (4) Quornofamonday 7/2, 11/4, good second of 21 in handicap hurdle at Naas (16f, soft) 17 days ago, clear of rest. Back up in trip and looks competitive on form. Up 7lb in total for solid placed efforts in last three handicaps, favourite each time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (16) (125/1 -279%) Clyde The Glide |
125/1(-279%) | (16) Clyde The Glide 125/1, 50/1, last of 13 in handicap hurdle at this course (22.9f, soft) 14 days ago. Readily passed over. Handicap debut when mid-field at Limerick over Christmas was respectable; tailed off since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (66/1 -100%) Johnny Cakes |
66/1(-100%) | (14) Johnny Cakes 66/1, 33/1, seventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (16.5f, heavy) 18 days ago. Back up in trip and looks set for another struggle. Soundly beaten in first three handicaps and now steps back up in trip; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (11/2 +8%) Brownstone |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Brownstone 11/2, Hurdles winner at Fairyhouse in October. 5/1, creditable fourth of 22 in handicap hurdle at Navan (16f, heavy) 71 days ago. Back up in trip and hood back on. Each-way chance. Solid form since winning over 2m at Fairyhouse although possibly better at that trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (22/1 -214%) Little Token |
22/1(-214%) | (9) Little Token 22/1, One win from 30 NH runs. Respectable fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (20f, heavy, 17/2) 18 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. Experienced mare's sole win came two years ago; fair fourth over this trip at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 +24%) Portnacoo |
25/1(+24%) | (6) Portnacoo 25/1, Pulled up in handicap hurdle (25/1) at Limerick (22f, good to soft), reminders circuit out. Off 8 months. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Promise when fifth in Fairyhouse maiden but nothing since; back from lay-off; headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
QUORNOFAMONDAY posted another gallant effort in defeat as favourite when runner-up in a 21-runner affair at Naas earlier this month. A 2lb rise looks more than fair and a well-earned breakthrough victory could be on the cards. There was plenty to like about Verbal Sparring's close-up second at this venue on New Year's Eve and the five-year-old is a potential improver now upped in distance, while it's too soon to write off Gold Haven.
JACENRY offered little in a trio of maiden hurdles but he left those efforts behind when sixth in a big-field Down Royal handicap last month. He could be about to take another step forward now faced with a stiffer test. Little Token should come on for her recent spin at Clonmel and is next on the list, while Quornofamonday, Verbal Sparring and Brownstone also merit respect.
Better for a recent comeback run after showing mild promise at this venue last year, MOONLIGHT GETAWAY is chosen to take a step forward

1st (2) (5/4 +38%) Morfee |
5/4(+38%) | (2) Morfee 5/4, Built on earlier promise to gan a first success over fences in a 23f handicap chase at Taunton last month. Failed by a whisker in his follow-up bid here (19.8f, good to soft) and he's a big player now back up in trip. Won at Taunton before a near-miss here last time; big player again back up in trip. |

2nd (1) (13/2 +19%) Sublime Heights |
13/2(+19%) | (1) Sublime Heights 13/2, All 3 of his chase wins have been gained here, the latest in this race 12 months ago. However, he has failed to fire in a handful of appearances so far this season and needs to bounce back. Won this race last year but he's been out of sorts this season; needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/1 -50%) Born At Midnight |
9/1(-50%) | (6) Born At Midnight 9/1, Dual chase winner last season and ended that campaign with solid placed efforts at Huntingdon and Ludlow, both at around 3m. Resumes on a career-high mark but should have a part to play if he's ready to roll following an 11-month absence. Dual chase winner who has won when fresh in the past; needs a close look on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (12/1 +0%) Game Socks |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Game Socks 12/1, Off the mark at third attempt in this sphere in 6-runner handicap at Worcester (23f, good to soft) in June 2022. Well held both starts since returning from a lengthy absence last month, though, and he's hard to warm to. Has struggled in two runs back from a long absence and he needs a major revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/2 -175%) No Hubs No Hoobs |
11/2(-175%) | (5) No Hubs No Hoobs 11/2, Opened chase account at Wincanton in December 2022 and found just one too good when bidding to repeat the dose in this season's renewal of the same race. Perhaps the first-time cheekpieces will help eke out a little more and, if so, he will be a danger to all. Runner-up in both starts this season and he should go well again; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (4/1 +27%) Kadex |
4/1(+27%) | (3) Kadex 4/1, Won twice over hurdles in France and put it together to land 4-runner handicap chase over C&D in October. Similar form when second at Fakenham next time but proved disappointing (jumped sketchily) when pulled up at that venue on latest start. Unexposed over fences but he flopped at Fakenham last time and needs to bounce back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Although NO HUBS NO HOOBS hasn't always looked the most straightforward, there is no doubting that he has the ability to succeed off his current rating. First-time cheekpieces could be the making of the eight-year-old and he shades the verdict over fellow in-form rival Morfee. Seamus Mullins' charge lost little in defeat when a close-up second over an inadequate extended 2m3f trip here earlier in the month and he isn't taken lightly. The returning Born At Midnight makes most appeal of the remainder.
The vote goes to MORFEE, who was just touched off here earlier this month and a 3 lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from getting his head back in front now returned to this trip. No Hubs No Hoobs arrives here on the back of a couple of solid efforts and he looks the main threat, with Born At Midnight resuming from 11 months off and the other three all needing to bounce back.
No Hubs No Hoobs should be in the thick of it again but MORFEE (nap) is open to more progress back up in trip.

1st (1) (7/4 -59%) The Gypsy Davey |
7/4(-59%) | (1) The Gypsy Davey 7/4, Off the mark at the fourth attempt between the flags in December and put that experience to good use when making all in a 13-runner maiden at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) on Rules debut 3 weeks ago. Obvious claims despite the penalty. Front-running wins in Irish point, then a 2m hurdle for new yard; not highly tried here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (3/1 +94%) Secret Sauce |
3/1(+94%) | (14) Secret Sauce 3/1, Fair performer on the Flat in Ireland, winning a 1m Gowran claimer last May. However, offered little in a couple of juvenile hurdles (when trained by Milton Harris) and failed to land a blow returned to the level on debut for this yard last time. Won 1m claimer in Ireland last spring; not yet of interest on what he's shown in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 -75%) Isholo Du Vivien |
7/1(-75%) | (4) Isholo Du Vivien 7/1, Point winner who bettered his rather disappointing Rules debut display in a bumper when finishing third of 11 starting out over hurdles at Kelso (16.2f, heavy) during the Christmas period. Claims if able to build on that here. Winning Irish pointer; modest bumper debut; ran well for a long way on switch to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (11/2 +45%) Too Much Hammer |
11/2(+45%) | (9) Too Much Hammer 11/2, Modest fifth in a Ludlow bumper in October and well beaten both starts over hurdles since. Has run in better hurdles than this, hinting at ability; considered down in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (200/1 -100%) Joker Jack |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Joker Jack 200/1, Showed a bit only start in bumpers but could hardly have shown any less sent hurdling at Exeter last month. Minor form on bumper debut and pulled up on switch to hurdles; not this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (125/1 -279%) Just Aidan |
125/1(-279%) | (6) Just Aidan 125/1, Winner of sole outing in points last spring but it's hard to view his recent Rules debut effort in a Sedgefield bumper in a positive light. Point bumper winner; dropped right out in a Sedgefield bumper this month; hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (13/2 +68%) Timeforarum |
13/2(+68%) | (8) Timeforarum 13/2, Fair fourth in a bumper on his introduction here last February but has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts, including when returning to action following a wind op at Chepstow last month. Hurdles debut. Unable to sustain effort in two course bumpers and on hurdle debut; needs to settle better. |

50/1(-213%) | (12) Creamoverpeaches 50/1, Imperial Monarch mare. Half-sister to fairly useful 2m chase winner Doc Carver. Dam unraced half-sister to useful chaser (21f-29f winner) Trust Fund. Probably best watched on debut, unless the market suggests otherwise. Dam half-sister to very useful chaser Trust Fund; probably best watched on belated debut. |

9th (13) (10/1 -82%) Jacksbar |
10/1(-82%) | (13) Jacksbar 10/1, Clearly in need of the experience when sixth in the 13-runner Taunton maiden won by The Gypsy Davey. Will be more street-wise this time but it's likely that she'll come into her own when tackling longer trips in due course. Quite creditable debut 6th behind The Gypsy Davey; improve; likely to need further than 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (11) (22/1 -267%) Callan Queen |
22/1(-267%) | (11) Callan Queen 22/1, Half-sister to fair hurdler Crushed and debut effort in a Musselburgh bumper last month wasn't completely devoid of promise. Entitled to come on for that run and may well be seen in a better light now switched to hurdles. Leading yard and should come on for bumper debut fifth at Musselburgh; hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (300/1 -50%) Pearly King |
300/1(-50%) | (7) Pearly King 300/1, Didn't show much on debut in a bumper here in November and similar story switched to hurdles at Southwell the following month. Big prices and out the back in a course bumper and a maiden hurdle at Southwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THE GYPSY DAVEY impressed when making a winning start under Rules at Taunton earlier in the month and Evan Williams' gelding is very hard to oppose in this company, despite having to carry a 7lb penalty. The main threat is clearly Isholo Du Vivien after his third over this trip at Kelso last time, while Jacksbar is the pick of the remainder.
It was probably a slightly stronger race than this that THE GYPSY DAVEY landed on his Rules debut at Taunton and he looks capable of defying a penalty. Isholo du Vivien didn't shape badly switched to hurdles at Kelso and he gets the nod ahead of Callan Queen, who showed signs of ability in a Musselburgh bumper, for forecast purposes.
The Gypsy Davey has to be respected despite the penalty but ISHOLO DU VIVIEN can take a step forward on his second hurdle run.

12/1(+52%) | (8) Kilmacurkin 12/1, 40/1, twelfth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (21f, heavy) 32 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Well held in first two starts for yard and now steps up in trip with headgear fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/1 -43%) Reserve Judgement |
10/1(-43%) | (5) Reserve Judgement 10/1, Sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle (14/1) at Musselburgh (23.8f, soft) 28 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Can make presence felt if shrugging off latest effort. Said to like good ground; poor run across the water last time; change of headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (11/2 +0%) Arthor |
11/2(+0%) | (2) Arthor 11/2, Fifth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (21f, heavy, 14/1) 32 days ago, running on. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Every chance if back to best. Fifth over 2m5f at Limerick (bit to find with Cosmo Renfro on that form); cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (66/1 -164%) Without Exception |
66/1(-164%) | (9) Without Exception 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 80/1, eighteenth of 21 in handicap hurdle at Naas (16f, soft) 17 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Heavy defeats so far including when jumping poorly on handicap bow over 2m; trip may help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Slight preference is for COSMO RENFRO, who should be well suited by going back up in trip, having scored over an extended 3m at Limerick back in November. The seven-year-old, who then made the frame over 2m5f at the same track, remains relatively unexposed and he gets the vote ahead of Reserve Judgement and Captain Jimmy, who has ground to make up with the selection but won here over further a little more than a year ago. Completing the shortlist are Arthor, Glorious Singer and Made In The Woods.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and COSMO RENFRO looks the way to go with the form of his recent big-field Limerick third having been franked. Course-winner Captain Jimmy is weighted to have a say and next on the list ahead of Glorious Singer and Arthor.
A ready winner over 3m here a year ago, CAPTAIN JIMMY may be able to strike after an encouraging run over fences earlier this month

1st (12) (10/1 -11%) Good Lord |
10/1(-11%) | (12) Good Lord 10/1, Fair winner over 11f from 3 starts on Flat in Germany. Yet to land a blow over hurdles but has hinted at ability and may do better now switching to handicaps. Has had wind surgery and sports a first-time tongue strap. Lightly raced 5yo but he needs a transformation on his handicap hurdle debut; had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (9/2 +36%) Glance At Me |
9/2(+36%) | (10) Glance At Me 9/2, Found improvement in the first half of 2023, scoring at Lingfield and over C&D. Off 7 months before pulled up in handicap at Wincanton on Boxing Day, however, so needs to bounce back. Won here last May and she shaped as though she needed her recent comeback run; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 +31%) Tara Iti |
11/2(+31%) | (2) Tara Iti 11/2, Produced a career-best display when adding to his tally at Fontwell in June. Has been underwhelming since but the handicapper continues to relinquish his grip. One of 3 runners for Gary Moore. Dual C&D winner but he's not easy to predict and was disappointing here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/1 -120%) Kotari |
11/1(-120%) | (4) Kotari 11/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. Comfortably held in 3 novices since switching to hurdles but appeals as one who could take off in handicaps. Has a first-time hood to hopefully help him settle better. Interesting, particularly if backed. Unexposed over hurdles and he's a possible improver with hood added on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 -65%) Ferrybridge |
11/2(-65%) | (8) Ferrybridge 11/2, Off the mark when taking 8-runner handicap hurdle at Newcastle (17f, good to soft) under Jamie Gambin 37 days ago. Another bold show likely. Off the mark when landing a Newcastle handicap latest; 3lb higher here but he's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/1 -100%) Man Of Light |
10/1(-100%) | (6) Man Of Light 10/1, Bangor maiden hurdle winner in May 2021 and twice placed in handicaps in November of that year. Has a 22-month absence to overcome but he's been given a chance by the handicapper and returns with his yard among the winners. It will be interesting to see what the market has to say. Yard is in good form and he needs watching in market on his comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (8/1 +27%) Privatory |
8/1(+27%) | (11) Privatory 8/1, Dual 2m winner but below par last season and no sign of a revival this time round, albeit latest run can be forgiven (hampered). Disappointing 5yo who has been well held in both runs this winter and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (12/1 +40%) Ray's The One |
12/1(+40%) | (3) Ray's The One 12/1, Dual winner at Fontwell who also scored on AW Flat last summer. Well held at Ascot back hurdling just before Christmas but this is a slightly easier assignment. Well beaten under both codes in last three runs and he needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (66/1 -100%) Clinton Lane |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Clinton Lane 66/1, Appeared to take a sizeable step forward when third in an 8-runner maiden at Wincanton in October but hasn't been able to repeat that effort since, including in handicaps. Cheekpieces go on for the first time. Seven-race maiden who has been tailed off in both his handicaps; cheekpieces now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (12/1 +64%) Qeyaady |
12/1(+64%) | (14) Qeyaady 12/1, Modest at best on the Flat these days (fourth on AW last week) and has shown precious little to date over hurdles. Best watched from 7 lb out of the handicap. Has struggled in his four previous hurdle runs and is 7lb out of the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (16/1 +27%) Onnaroll |
16/1(+27%) | (13) Onnaroll 16/1, Just poor form over hurdles, making a significant impact on only one occasion, and hard to make a strong case for him from 3 lb out of the weights. Second from out of weights at Fontwell in September but he's been below that level since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (17/2 -21%) Highlander Casseul |
17/2(-21%) | (5) Highlander Casseul 17/2, Fair ex-Irish maiden hurdler who made his first impact in Britain when third of 6 at Fontwell 48 days ago, leading for long way. Claims if he can build on that. Showed signs of a revival at Fontwell but this is a deeper race and he's now 0-15. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (22/1 +12%) Jimmy Boy |
22/1(+12%) | (1) Jimmy Boy 22/1, Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland but well held all 3 outings for current yard, including in a first-time visor last time. Too soon to write off but hard to be confident about at present. 14-race maiden who has been tailed off in all three runs for current yard; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (50/1 -257%) Matewan |
50/1(-257%) | (7) Matewan 50/1, Fair Flat winner. Below that level over hurdles for current yard in 2021, including well held in 2 handicaps. Has a long absence to overcome. Best watched unless the betting vibes are notably strong. Unexposed over hurdles but he has something to prove after a long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Ferrybridge made the most of better ground and a career-low mark when gaining a breakthrough victory at Newcastle last month. With that in mind, a 3lb rise in the ratings and more testing conditions may leave James Owen's inmate vulnerable. A first-time hood could enable the keen-going KOTARI to settle better and the five-year-old looks fairly treated on his handicap bow. The selection's stablemate Tara Iti, a dual C&D winner, also enters calculations.
FERRYBRIDGE did win quite a weak race at Newcastle but might have more to come now he's up and running for James Owen. Kotari should be able to do something from this sort of mark judged on Flat ability and a market move for him would look significant. Man of Light returns from a lay-off with his stable in good form and is another who could be a big player if the betting suggests he's ready to roll.
The vote goes to FERRYBRIDGE, who got off the mark at Newcastle last month and his confidence should be boosted after that success.

1st (4) (9/4 -13%) Time Leader |
9/4(-13%) | (4) Time Leader 9/4, Fairly useful chaser for John O'Shea who bgged hunter chase (10/11) at Cartmel (25.5f, good) in May. Pulled up in a recent point but he still needs considering for his new stable. Close behind Bennys King in the 2m5f Foxhunters' at Aintree; pulled up in latest point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 -50%) Kaproyale |
5/1(-50%) | (3) Kaproyale 5/1, Prolific winning pointer who has made an excellent start in hunters, scoring at Huntingdon and Stratford in early summer. More to offer so can't be ruled out despite an eight-month absence. Best on good ground; good wins at 2m7f and 2m1f last year; capable of further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (33/1 -65%) Shang Tang |
33/1(-65%) | (8) Shang Tang 33/1, Fairly useful chaser at best for Emma Lavelle but struggled in handicaps at the start of the summer and only seventh in a point for her new stable in December. Quite useful in his prime; hasn't recaptured form since absence, in a point last time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (100/1 -100%) Avoir De Soins |
100/1(-100%) | (5) Avoir De Soins 100/1, Modest chaser for Jonjo O'Neill who wasn't disgraced on yard debut when 26 lengths fourth of 9 to Kaproyale in hunter chase at Stratford (17f, good) 8 months ago. Needs to hit the ground running on his return. Minor point form so far; a lot of ground to make up on Kaproyale on Stratford form in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (9/1 +36%) Notre Pari |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Notre Pari 9/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser for Olly Murphy. Has since scored in points and fourth in that sphere last month so can't be dismissed. Wide-margin 2m4f point winner last April; not done enough since to enter the argument here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (150/1 -50%) Nuova Vita |
150/1(-50%) | (7) Nuova Vita 150/1, Dual winning pointer but showed little in a pair of novice hurdles at Worcester and Newton Abbot in the summer for Polly Grundy. Cheekpieces on for new stable on his return. Two point wins from 11 attempts; up against it back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (150/1 -50%) Urbanist |
150/1(-50%) | (9) Urbanist 150/1, Got off the mark in points earlier this month but hasn't troubled the judge in hunter chases thus far and makes limited appeal. Sole point win last May; pulled up all three starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (2) (8/11 +73%) Cat Tiger |
8/11(+73%) | (2) Cat Tiger 8/11, Useful chaser for Paul Nicholls who was second in last year's Aintree Foxhunters' in 2022. Not disgraced both runs for N. George & A. Zetterholm at Auteuil this winter. Possibilities starting for another new handler. Second in 2022 Foxhunters' at Aintree; below best last season; recaptured form in France. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BENNYS KING bounced back to form when third in this sphere at Taunton three weeks ago and the veteran arguably sets the standard based on that evidence. However, Cat Tiger has more than enough ability to give the selection a race if close to his best, while the in-form Kaproyale and Time Leader can fight it out for the minor honours.
BENNYS KING took this 12 months ago and looks the way to go again having teed himself up well when a rejuvenated third at Taunton last time out. Kaproyale still looks to have better days ahead of him in this sphere so rates the main threat on his return ahead of Notre Pari and Cat Tiger.
Bennys King, Time Leader and Kaproyale should have further success at this level but it's CAT TIGER who makes most appeal.

1st (6) (9/2 +47%) Moon Over The Sea |
9/2(+47%) | (6) Moon Over The Sea 9/2, Three wins (including at this course) from 13 runs last year. Creditable 1½ lengths third of 9 to the reopposing Calcutta Dream in minor event (10/1) at Chelmsford City (10f) 18 days ago. Can give another good account. Ties in with Calcutta Cream on Chelmsford running; has won under Rossa Ryan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 -13%) Egoiste |
9/4(-13%) | (3) Egoiste 9/4, Off the mark at Chelmsford City (10f) in September and resumed his progress when second of 10 in handicap (7/2) at Kempton (8f) a week ago, clear of rest. Major player as he goes back up in trip. Clear second at Kempton last week; likely to go up in the weights when reassessed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (28/1 -27%) Nine Elms |
28/1(-27%) | (2) Nine Elms 28/1, C&D winner. Struggled for form at the end of last year, ninth of 11 in handicap (40/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 31 days ago. Edging back down in the weights but others still more persuasive. Form tailed off towards end of his 2023 campaign. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +25%) Calcutta Dream |
5/2(+25%) | (5) Calcutta Dream 5/2, Built on promise of recent run when winning 9-runner minor event (5/2) at Chelmsford City (10f) 18 days ago, leading close home. Remains on a workable mark back in a handicap, so he's not taken lightly. Began his 2024 campaign with a classified success at Chelmsford; in the mix. |

5th (8) (12/1 -20%) Gypsy Whisper |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Gypsy Whisper 12/1, Not discredited when fifth of 10 in minor event (12/1) at this course (8.6f) 10 days ago. Can give her running but she may just remain vulnerable for win purposes (last success came back in July 2022). 0-22 on AW but has gone close at Wolverhampton four times of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (22/1 -83%) Dark Company |
22/1(-83%) | (9) Dark Company 22/1, Operating below his best at present, fourth of 6 in handicap (12/1) at this C&D 13 days ago. Others make more appeal. Has something to find on balance of recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (10/1 +29%) Captain St Lucifer |
10/1(+29%) | (12) Captain St Lucifer 10/1, Twenty-one runs since his sole success back in 2021. Respectable third of 8 in minor event (8/1) at this C&D 27 days ago. Capable of getting involved with cheekpieces back on. Good chance on plenty of form but still has a poor strike-rate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (125/1 -150%) Tiger Touch |
125/1(-150%) | (10) Tiger Touch 125/1, Fairly useful winner in France but has struggled for form in Britain, well-beaten fifth of 6 in handicap (50/1) at Chelmsford City (8f) 80 days ago. Looks to be up against it. Has shown nothing in two outings for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (12/1 -33%) Ok Pal |
12/1(-33%) | (11) Ok Pal 12/1, On just his second start for current yard, back to form when third of 9 in handicap (28/1) at this course (7.2f) 10 days ago. Task is now to build on his latest effort as he goes up in trip. Placed over 7f here ten days ago, shaping as if he'll stay further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (20/1 -264%) Urban Champion |
20/1(-264%) | (4) Urban Champion 20/1, Not seen to best effect when last of 10 in handicap (11/4) at this course (12.2f) 16 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Had shaped promisingly on his previous run, so he could bounce back returned to this shorter trip. Best effort when second over C&D last May; interesting back in this scenario. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (100/1 -150%) Nelson River |
100/1(-150%) | (1) Nelson River 100/1, Course winner. Failed to come on for recent run when seventh of 8 in handicap (100/1) at this C&D 2 weeks ago. Has enough to prove at present. Two poor efforts since returning from layoff. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This can go the way of EGOISTE, who wasn't beaten all that far over C&D on his penultimate start and was narrowly denied at Kempton over shorter subsequently. A mark of 51 still looks manageable and he might have too much for recent Chelmsford scorer Calcutta Dream, who attempts to uphold form with Moon Over The Sea (third). Runner-up on two of her last three starts here, Gypsy Whisper can also have a say in proceedings.
EGOISTE got back on the up when finding only an unexposed rival too strong at Kempton a week ago, pulling clear of the remainder, so he is taken to resume winning ways returned to this longer trip. Calcutta Dream made a successful start to the year at Chelmsford 18 days ago and is feared most, ahead of Urban Champion.
The vote goes to EGOISTE, who is effectively ahead of the assessor. Urban Champion is second choice.

7/1(-40%) | (8) Fieldsman 7/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in December. 7/2, creditable ½-length second of 9 to Sea The Buckthorn in handicap at this C&D 10 days ago. Not taken lightly. In-form veteran; ties in closely with Sea The Buckthorn on C&D form ten days ago. |

2nd (1) (2/1 +43%) Seas Of Elzaam |
2/1(+43%) | (1) Seas Of Elzaam 2/1, Course winner. Looked in need of run when leventh of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 66/1). Off 121 days (self-certified NR 3 times since last seen, latest Jan 18). Looks well treated on best form and any market support would be most notable. Inconsistent since last win but market support should be heeded; back from break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (14/1 -75%) Dreamcasing |
14/1(-75%) | (9) Dreamcasing 14/1, C&D winner. Winner here in January. Creditable fifth of 9 in minor event (7/2) at Newcastle (6f) 12 days ago. More needed back in a handicap. In decent form at classified level this year, notably winning over C&D. |

4th (6) (9/4 +75%) Blue Collar Lad |
9/4(+75%) | (6) Blue Collar Lad 9/4, Not beaten far when eighth of 12 in handicap (12/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 15 days. Running respectably at present and he's not discounted. Consistent RPRs since returned to AW; respected with Rossa Ryan up for first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (15/2 -50%) Sea The Buckthorn |
15/2(-50%) | (10) Sea The Buckthorn 15/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap at this C&D 10 days ago by ½ length from Fieldsman. Nudged up only 1 lb and he's a leading player again. Opened his account in similar event over C&D ten days ago, beating Fieldsman. |

40/1(-150%) | (3) Northbound 40/1, Below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (8f). Off 125 days. First run for yard after leaving Julie Camacho. Now below last winning mark. Best watched. Absent since September and now makes debut for new yard; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/1 -13%) Kodebreaker |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Kodebreaker 9/1, Twenty runs since last win in 2023 but was placed 3 consecutive outings in December/January. Anticipated start and nearly unseated rider here last time, so is better judged on previous efforts and can make presence felt with cheekpieces back on. Form dipped last time but is generally consistent; attractively weighted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (16/1 +0%) Desert Boots |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Desert Boots 16/1, Ungenuine type. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Ninth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 18/1) 7 days ago. Visor back on. Uphill task. Well below best in two runs for new stable this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (28/1 -211%) Jumira Bridge |
28/1(-211%) | (7) Jumira Bridge 28/1, Course winner. Three wins from 18 runs last year. Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap (7/2) at this course (6.1f) 14 days ago, never nearer after missing break. Others more persuasive. Raced mostly at sprint trips; sole 7f attempt came in 2016; something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (20/1 -233%) Evasive Power |
20/1(-233%) | (2) Evasive Power 20/1, Course winner. 7/2, respectable third of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 5 days ago, staying on near finish. Still not long with a yard who have good record with similar types and step back up in trip should suit, though widest draw is a concern. Encouraging form for new yard this year; return to 7f looks ideal; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (66/1 -230%) Monitola |
66/1(-230%) | (12) Monitola 66/1, Good second at Chelmsford earlier in the month and perhaps found the race coming too soon when 14½ lengths last of 8 to Dreamcasing in minor event at this C&D 14 days ago. More needed back in a handicap nevertheless. Did too much up front in the C&D event won by Dreamcasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (150/1 -500%) Isabelle |
150/1(-500%) | (11) Isabelle 150/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, ninth of 11 in maiden at this course (8.6f) 17 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Hard to fancy. Needs plenty of improvement for the switch to handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DREAMCASING didn't look suited by dropping back in trip at Newcastle recently, and he is better judged on his previous success over C&D. Grant Tuer's charge took to the track well on that occasion and he is narrowly preferred to recent C&D winner Sea The Buckthorn, who had the reopposing Fieldsman half a length back in second. Others to note include Evasive Power, Jumira Bridge and Kodebreaker.
SEA THE BUCKTHORN has looked more straightforward recently and Mark Usher's gelding is given the narrow verdict to follow up from his recent C&D win. Seas of Elzaam is particularly interesting in this company for the John Butler yard, whilst Fieldsman ran the selection close last time and should give another good account.
Off a favourable mark and with Rossa Ryan up for the first time, BLUE COLLAR LAD may be the answer. Kodebreaker is second choice.

250/1(-25%) | (1) Daffin 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. Eighth of 9 in maiden at Newcastle (1m, 200/1) 10 days ago. Tongue strap on for first time. Outsider. Fitting of tongue-tie needs to make a big difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (100/1 -525%) Wren House |
100/1(-525%) | (11) Wren House 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. 9/4, eleventh of 13 in novice at Kempton (1m) 26 days ago. Hooded first time. The fact she went off so short in the betting at Kempton suggests she's thought capable of better. Down the field in both runs; hood enlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (40/1 -433%) Venus Slipper |
40/1(-433%) | (9) Venus Slipper 40/1, Bated Breath filly. Dam, 7f-1m winner, half-sister to smart 1m-1¼m winner Dark Orchid. Wears tongue strap on debut. In good hands and would enter the reckoning if the betting vibes are strong. First foal of a Listed-placed 7f/1m AW winner; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (200/1 -100%) Ratification |
200/1(-100%) | (6) Ratification 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. Showed a bit on Kempton debut. Pulled up at Chelmsford (7f) 16 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Something was amiss last time; debut form is modest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The Charlie Appleby team seems to hold the key to this race and the vote goes to RACE THE WIND, who seems to be the first string with James Doyle aboard. A taking winner at Newmarket last summer, there should be plenty more to come from the daughter of Too Darn Hot, with stablemate and newcomer Aurora's Beauty looking best placed to chase her home as a half-sister to multiple Group winner Chindit. Blue Virtue should relish going up in trip after a highly creditable runner-up effort at Southwell.
BLUE VIRTUE took a nice step forward from her debut when second at Southwell recently and is selected to make the most of the weight she receives from previous winner Race The Wind. The other Charlie Appleby runner Aurora's Beauty is one of a few interesting newcomers who need checking out in the betting.
Charlie Appleby holds a strong-looking hand with leading form contender RACE THE WIND and interesting newcomer Aurora's Beauty.

1st (1) (4/11 +0%) Bradman |
4/11(+0%) | (1) Bradman 4/11, 4/11, won 7-runner handicap at Southwell (12.1f) 18 days ago by 5½ lengths from Northgate, heavily eased down. Obvious claims. Easily beat Northgate and Rubio De Oro in similar event at Southwell; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/1 +9%) Something To Do |
5/1(+9%) | (6) Something To Do 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 9 in maiden (250/1) at Chelmsford City (8f). Off 130 days and significantly up in trip for this handicap/tapeta debut. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Showed nothing last term; makes handicap debut in first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (14/1 -17%) Rubio De Oro |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Rubio De Oro 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable 9 lengths third of 7 to Bradman in handicap at Southwell (12.1f, 10/1) 18 days ago. Will do well to reverse the placings with the winner here. Showed improvement with his third behind two of these rivals at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 +10%) Northgate |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Northgate 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, creditable 5½ lengths second of 7 to Bradman in handicap at Southwell (12.1f) 18 days ago, flattered by proximity. Clearly has work to do. No match for Bradman at Southwell but now gets 7lb pull and is open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (28/1 -12%) Maria Land |
28/1(-12%) | (5) Maria Land 28/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, eighth of 9 in nursery at Dundalk (7f, 16/1) 68 days ago. Significantly up in trip for this tapeta debut/first run for new yard. Has poor claims on her Irish form and isn't a certain stayer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (28/1 -100%) Midnight Margarita |
28/1(-100%) | (4) Midnight Margarita 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eleventh of 12 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f, 125/1) 24 days ago. Significantly up in trip for this handicap debut and needs to raise her game. Looks open to improvement now handicapping and upped in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BRADMAN easily accounted for Northgate (second) and Rubio De Oro (third) when getting off the mark over this trip at Southwell 18 days ago and Charlie Fellowes' gelding can confirm that form, despite a 6lb rise in the ratings. The pair that chased him home on that occasion can do so once again, in the same order, in a contest that lacks depth.
This is likely to be a re-run of the Southwell handicap in which BRADMAN easily dispatched with Northgate and Rubio de Oro. A 6 lb rise is unlikely to be anywhere near enough to prevent the winner from going in again.
The rematch between BRADMAN, Northgate and Rubio De Oro is the strongest form element of this race.

4/1(-60%) | (1) Inverlochy 4/1, Career best when winning 6-runner handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW, 11/4) 14 days ago. Up 3 lb but not taken lightly. Progressive filly who is making hay before her planned trip to the paddocks in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +63%) Avon Light |
9/4(+63%) | (3) Avon Light 9/4, Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at this course (9.5f, 11/1) 24 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. In-form maiden who has possibilities off reduced mark back down in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/1 -67%) Intoxicata |
10/1(-67%) | (8) Intoxicata 10/1, Course winner who landed 8-runner handicap at Newcastle (8f) 12 days ago. Can go well again. Consistent in Class 6 handicaps; got up on the line at Newcastle most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 -57%) Enola Grey |
11/2(-57%) | (2) Enola Grey 11/2, Latest win at Newcastle in December. 7/2, seventh of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 13 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Can give a good account. Form dipped last time but very consistent otherwise for current yard; may bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/1 -64%) Clipsham Gold |
9/1(-64%) | (5) Clipsham Gold 9/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 7/2, creditable second of 6 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 12 days ago. Hood back on and in the mix. Proving consistent; looks interesting back at Wolverhampton, being 1-1 here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (8/1 +20%) Waleyfa |
8/1(+20%) | (9) Waleyfa 8/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 11 runs last year. 18/1, respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 16 days ago, left with too much to do. One for the shortlist. Campaigned mostly in Class 6; her record in this grade is unconvincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/2 +36%) Hotaugustnight |
9/2(+36%) | (6) Hotaugustnight 9/2, 15/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable third of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (8f) 75 days ago. Makes yard/tapeta debut and one to consider. 0-8 in Ireland but ran creditably switched to AW at Dundalk last time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (25/1 +0%) Platinum Jubilee |
25/1(+0%) | (4) Platinum Jubilee 25/1, Still a maiden and last of 6 to Inverlochy in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 14 days ago, hampered. Not easy to make a case for. Six-race maiden who has one standout effort; not a solid option. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The consistent INVERLOCHY made it three victories from her last four starts when scoring at Lingfield a fortnight ago and the daughter of Oasis Dream makes plenty of appeal in her bid to continue her excellent run of form. Intoxicata is respected following her Newcastle victory, while Avon Light and Clipsham Gold are others who merit a place on the shortlist.
INVERLOCHY looks the way to go on the back of her recent Lingfield success, although both Intoxicata and Enola Grey need factoring in too.
The consistent CLIPSHAM GOLD is taken to record her first win since joining Dylan Cunha. Avon Light is second choice.

10/1(+29%) | (5) Olympic Quest 10/1, Below-form sixth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Kempton (8f) 19 days ago. Others more persuasive. Not in great form for new yard but may do better off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (18/1 -125%) Vitesse Du Son |
18/1(-125%) | (9) Vitesse Du Son 18/1, C&D winner. Last of 8 in handicap (9/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 85 days ago so needs to get back on track. Revival would put him in the picture; C&D scorer in late 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (4/6 +70%) Inexplicable |
4/6(+70%) | (8) Inexplicable 4/6, 7-time C&D winner, latest in January. Posted a good second of 8 in minor event at Southwell (8.1f, 4/1) 4 days ago, running on. Player back in handicap company. 8-33 at Wolverhampton; ran well at Southwell on Thursday; solid claims. |

4th (2) (3/1 -20%) Havana Goldrush |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Havana Goldrush 3/1, C&D winner. Respectable third of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f, 5/2) 11 days ago. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Recent form is respectable and he's attractively weighted; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (16/1 -220%) Portraitist |
16/1(-220%) | (4) Portraitist 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Tenth of 11 in maiden at Chelmsford City (10f, 18/1). Off 7 months with more needed on her handicap debut. Possible improver now handicapping on return from layoff; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 -122%) Ard Mhacha |
40/1(-122%) | (7) Ard Mhacha 40/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap at this C&D (125/1) 42 days ago. Needs a big step forward if she's to gain his maiden victory. Ex-Irish maiden who hasn't threatened in two races for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 -100%) How Hard Can It Be |
12/1(-100%) | (1) How Hard Can It Be 12/1, Off 5 months before fading eighth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (12f, AW) 37 days ago. Down in trip. Has good chance on pick of form. Raced mainly at middle distances; something to prove over this trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
INEXPLICABLE won a handicap over C&D before his second in a classified event at Southwell on Thursday, and a reproduction of either of those efforts could easily see him come home in front here. Havana Goldrush's last couple of performances offer some encouragement given how weak this race appears to be. The rest all need to improve, but Olympic Quest has an each-way chance.
INEXPLICABLE has a fine record round here and is taken to bag an eighth C&D success on the back of his good recent Southwell second. How Hard Can It Be should take a step forward from his Lingfield eighth after an absence and rates the main danger, with C&D winner Havana Goldrush also in the picture.
On current form INEXPLICABLE holds the strongest claims, ahead of Havana Goldrush. Portraitist completes the shortlist.

1st (6) (4/1 -14%) White Mist |
4/1(-14%) | (6) White Mist 4/1, C&D winner. Winner here in December. Creditable second of 12 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 22 days ago, slowly away. Likely to be in the thick of things once again. Has done well in the visor, winning over C&D then second behind a dual subsequent winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (3/1 +25%) Arlecchino's Gift |
3/1(+25%) | (7) Arlecchino's Gift 3/1, C&D winner. Good third of 8 in minor event at this C&D (4/1) 9 days ago. Leading claims. C&D winner; beaten less than a length into third in his last two starts here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (13/2 +7%) Due Date |
13/2(+7%) | (5) Due Date 13/2, Winner at Chelmsford City in January. 3/1, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (5f) 12 days ago. Back up in trip and should make his presence felt. Won a Chelmsford classified event before a fair effort at Kempton; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3/1 +25%) Sisters In The Sky |
3/1(+25%) | (2) Sisters In The Sky 3/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2023. 16/5, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 5 days ago, running on. High on the shortlist. 2-33 but a staying-on fourth at Lingfield last time and this track may suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (25/1 -79%) Liberty Bay |
25/1(-79%) | (9) Liberty Bay 25/1, Thirty runs since last win in 2021. Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap (16/1) at Kempton (5f) 12 days ago. Back up in trip and she looks vulnerable all the same. Long losing run, but one of few in this race who usually likes to be ridden prominently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/1 -50%) My Boy Jack |
9/1(-50%) | (1) My Boy Jack 9/1, C&D winner. Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (9/2) 17 days ago, running on. 1 lb lower now and he should be involved in the finish. 2-34 but both wins have come over C&D and is back off last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (10/1 +17%) Yaahobby |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Yaahobby 10/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (5f, 11/2) 20 days ago. Back up in trip and he's likely to find a few too good once more. Three-time course winner who has dropped 1lb lower than when last successful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (7/1 +7%) Dyed In The Wool |
7/1(+7%) | (3) Dyed In The Wool 7/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, third of 7 in handicap (10/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 11 days ago. Others make more appeal from a win point of view. Losing run of 10 despite a sliding mark, but latest third at Southwell has been boosted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The tongue-tie/visor combination looks to have improved WHITE MIST recently and, despite a further 1lb rise, the in-form filly looks sure to mount another bold bid. Arlecchino's Gift has gone close on his latest couple of starts and he is likely to be in the shake-up once again, while My Boy Jack and Sisters In The Sky are others to note in a seemingly wide-open handicap.
Having slipped down the weights SISTERS IN THE SKY has been shaping as though his turn may be near of late and he gets the nod, for all that he isn't absolutely guaranteed to get the strong pace that he ideally needs. That is an even bigger concern in the context of My Boy Jack but he is nevertheless feared most ahead of Arlecchino's Gift and White Mist.
The vote goes to WHITE MIST (nap) who has been transformed by the visor in her last two starts, finishing first and second over C&D.

7/4(+13%) | (1) Smasher 7/4, 9/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, won 9-runner handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, proving much stronger in the finish. Good chance up 2 lb if the headgear works as well again. Off the mark when scoring over C&D last time and he's only 2lb higher; respected. |

2nd (4) (3/1 +33%) Higher Law |
3/1(+33%) | (4) Higher Law 3/1, 5/1, fifth of 7 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 11 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Enters calculations. 0-15 but he's run some good races this winter and didn't get any luck last time. |

3rd (2) (11/1 -10%) May Remain |
11/1(-10%) | (2) May Remain 11/1, C&D winner. 20/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D 22 days ago, going off too hard. Could be much closer to form this time. Well held in both runs this winter and he needs a major upturn in form. |

4th (9) (22/1 +12%) Mutabaahy |
22/1(+12%) | (9) Mutabaahy 22/1, 8-time course winner. 50/1, seventh of 9 in minor event at Newcastle (6f) 12 days ago. Visor back on. Eight-time course winner but he's not finished closer than sixth in his last eight runs. |

5th (7) (18/1 -13%) Glorious Charmer |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Glorious Charmer 18/1, 3-time C&D winner. Three wins from 11 runs last year. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, seventh of 8 in minor event (12/1) at this course (5.1f) 16 days ago. Out of sorts but back on a tempting mark. His last five wins have been at this track but he's been well held here in last four runs. |

8th (6) (33/1 -106%) Red Alert |
33/1(-106%) | (6) Red Alert 33/1, C&D winner. Off 138 days. Back up in trip. Might need this. His last AW win was two years ago and was out of sorts when last seen in the autumn. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
First-time cheekpieces appeared to do the trick when SMASHER opened his account over C&D two weeks ago and providing they have the same desired effect, he looks capable of defying a 2lb rise. Q Twenty Boy landed a classified event here recently and is an obvious danger on his handicap return, while Higher Law also has a chance if on one of his going days.
SMASHER finally got his head in front here a fortnight ago, the fitting of cheekpieces doing the trick, and he can go well again if the headgear works for a second time. Q Twenty Boy also scored over C&D last time and is respected back in a handicap. May Remain could also feature.
The vote goes to SMASHER, who hit a personal best with his breakthrough win over C&D two weeks ago and is only 2lb higher.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
