1st (7) ![]() Lavender Hill Mob |
1/1(+33%) | (7) Lavender Hill Mob 1/1, Useful Flat performer and hopes were high for him over hurdles but he's run to just a fair level in 2 starts, taking a keen hold in first-time cheekpieces when well held at Cheltenham 37 days ago. May yet have more to offer. Has the highest Flat rating in this field and brings the best hurdles form to boot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Midnight Rumble |
17/2(+23%) | (8) Midnight Rumble 17/2, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1¼m), successful once in 2024. In good hands for this discipline but he could only run to a barely fair level when sixth of 7 in a Kempton juvenile hurdle (2m) 24 days ago. Only sixth of seven at Kempton but should do better; likely player on Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Aviemore |
10/3(-52%) | (2) Aviemore 10/3, Useful on Flat (stays 1½m), successful twice at 10f for Charlie Johnston during 2024. Joined very good NH yard for 30,000 gns in October and he very much appeals as the type to make his mark in this sphere. Stable won this 12 months ago. Fairly useful on Flat; the type to do well in juvenile hurdles; interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Estate Planning |
18/1(+18%) | (6) Estate Planning 18/1, Fair form on first of 3 starts in Flat maidens for Mrs J. Harrington and stepped up on his yard/hurdles debut effort when third in a C&D juvenile 39 days ago. Appeals as the type to progress again in this sphere, including when tackling 2½m. Placed in C&D event last time but the form is nothing special. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Dr Waksman |
33/1(-230%) | (5) Dr Waksman 33/1, Fair form in maidens on Flat (stays 10.5f), showed more than previously when made frame last time. Has left Andrew Oliver and now goes hurdling for successful NH yard. Inferior to several of these rivals judged on his Irish Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() See The Green |
17/2(+23%) | (1) See The Green 17/2, Fairly useful on Flat for Owen Burrows and made a successful start to his hurdle career in Ludlow juvenile (15.7f) in November. He's not the biggest however, and could only run to a similar level under a penalty when fourth of 5 in juvenile hurdle at Sandown (2m) 45 days ago. Won a weak race on hurdles debut and found things harder at Sandown since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Crown Of India |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Crown Of India 7/1, Fairly useful maiden on Flat (stays 1¾m), well beaten in handicap last time. Has left Ed Walker ahead of this hurdles debut with a hood kept on. Fair maiden on Flat for Ed Walker; frame possibilities, provided he takes to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Little Lady Lucy |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Little Lady Lucy 200/1, Fair on Flat for Joseph O'Brien, off the mark in that sphere in an 11.8f Gowran handicap in September. No show both starts since switched to hurdles, though, and she's best watched until tackling low-grade handicaps. Has failed to transfer her Irish Flat ability to this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Catalan King |
150/1(-127%) | (3) Catalan King 150/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 15f) for Ed Bethell but showed no aptitude for hurdling first time up when always behind in a Wetherby juvenile (2m, soft) over Christmas. Passed over here. Jumped inadequately and beaten long way at Wetherby. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() White Coco |
250/1(-67%) | (10) White Coco 250/1, Dam fair 2m hurdle winner, also 7f-1¼m winner who stayed 1¾m on Flat. Poor maiden handicapper on Flat, sold from David Simcock 1,200 gns. Likely outsider now starting out in this discipline. Poor maiden on Flat for David Simcock; best watched. |
LAVENDER HILL MOB has arguably been disappointing on both hurdles starts to date, although James Owen's gelding has shown promise on each of those occasions. With that in mind, he can be given another chance here given the strength of his Flat form. Aviemore was also useful on the level and has to be noted on his hurdling bow, while Midnight Rumble is the pick of the remainder.
Those with previous hurdles form only set a fair standard but useful Flat performer AVIEMORE appeals as the type who could make his mark now hurdling for the Harry Derham stable and earns the vote before market clues. Lavender Hill Mob surely has a bigger effort in his locker and is a threat, along with See The Green who returns to calmer waters. Dr Waksman is another hurdles debutant to note.
Form choice LAVENDER HILL MOB gets the vote, with interesting hurdles debutant Aviemore feared most.

1st (1) ![]() That's Nice |
4/6(+19%) | (1) That's Nice 4/6, Won sole start in points and justified good support to follow up on hurdles debut in mares' novice over C&D (soft) in November, very confidently ridden. Seemingly not right when coming in last of 4 at Cheltenham since and she's well worth another chance. Best to forgive latest effort; scored cosily over C&D in November and remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Miss Cynthia |
5/1(-43%) | (8) Miss Cynthia 5/1, Useful performer on Flat (stays 17f) for Sir Mark Prescott who was bought for 100,000 gns in October. Well below that level when second of 6 in novice hurdle at Fakenham (20f, good to soft) on NH debut 29 days ago but she should have learnt plenty from that. No match for the winner at Fakenham but Flat form suggests she should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Sea Presenting |
33/1(-106%) | (10) Sea Presenting 33/1, Affinisea mare. Dam unraced sister to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler (stayed 3¼m) Listen And Learn. Third only outing in Irish points in autumn and market may prove best guide to claims on Rules debut. Showed some promise in Irish point in October; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Presenting Doy |
6/1(+50%) | (9) Presenting Doy 6/1, £75,000 4-y-o, Doyen mare. Dam, ran once in bumper, sister to fairly useful hurdler/very smart chaser (stayed 3m) Gold Present. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Nov 2023) and she's one to note in the betting now hurdling with Harry Cobden booked. Irish point winner; booking of Harry Cobden is a plus; interesting rules debutante. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Jasmine D'airy |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Jasmine D'airy 12/1, £120,000 purchase on the back of success in a Tipperary bumper (18f) in May. Weak in betting but offered something to work on when fourth of 6 in a mares' novice at Lingfield (16f, soft) in December. In good hands and she's open to improvement. Irish bumper winner; fourth at Lingfield for new connections; open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Briery Butterfly |
28/1(+15%) | (3) Briery Butterfly 28/1, Unplaced in a couple of bumpers at big tracks and looks more one for later on based on pair of hurdle runs this term. Needs improvement and may be more interesting in handicaps shortly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Kantagua Du Large |
25/1(-233%) | (7) Kantagua Du Large 25/1, Improved sent chasing in France last term, winning 1 of her 4 starts. Posted fairly-useful third of 9 in listed chase at Pau (19.4f, heavy) when last seen 11 months ago and is worth monitoring in market on UK debut for new connections here. Largely consistent over hurdles and fences in France, winning once; British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Hello Marie |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Hello Marie 200/1, Beat one other finisher when winning an Irish point and has offered little in sole start in bumpers and on hurdles bow earlier this month. Irish point winner whose rules form gives her a poor chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Flora Paget |
200/1(-150%) | (4) Flora Paget 200/1, Took a step forward when creditable fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle (40/1) at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) when last seen 19 months ago but is likely best watched on return here. Plenty to find on form and has been absent since June 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Braunton Burrows |
300/1(-50%) | (2) Braunton Burrows 300/1, Offered little in a trio of bumpers (first two for Nigel Twiston-Davies) and pulled up on hurdles bow at Doncaster when last seen 12 months ago. Poor claims on form and has been absent for over a year. |
THAT'S NICE failed to fire when odds-on at Cheltenham last time but she was an impressive winner over C&D the time before. As a result, Nicky Henderson's mare can be given another chance back against her own sex. Miss Cynthia was well held on her hurdling debut at Fakenham but it is far too soon to be writing her off, while any market support for Presenting Doy would have to be noted.
THAT'S NICE clearly wasn't herself at Cheltenham last time and is taken to concede weight all round here. Jasmine d'Airy and Presenting Doy are also of interest.
C&D winner THAT'S NICE remains of interest. Miss Cynthia and Jasmine d'Airy are the other main players on British form.

1st (4) ![]() I Am The Moon |
11/8(+50%) | (4) I Am The Moon 11/8, Acquitted herself well in a couple of bumpers and posted promising fourth of 10 in novice at Wetherby (19.7f, soft) on hurdles bow 25 days ago. Likely more to come yet. Not disgraced at Wetherby on Boxing Day; should be capable of better still; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Pismo Beach |
11/1(+56%) | (8) Pismo Beach 11/1, Hinted at ability in bumper and on hurdles debut at Chepstow in October but is likely to need more time. Never dangerous last time; needs a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Mistress Emma |
13/8(-18%) | (7) Mistress Emma 13/8, Won a Worcester bumper in June 2022 and showed aptitude for hurdling (on first start since) when second of 11 in novice at Newbury (16.3f, soft) on debut in this sphere 33 days ago. Entitled to build on that and is one for shortlist. Won bumper in 2022; should progress with Newbury reappearance effort under her belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() All Inn Hand |
22/1(-57%) | (1) All Inn Hand 22/1, Showed more than she had in a trio of bumpers when third in 11-runner maiden at Stratford (22f) on hurdles bow in October but wasn't in same form here last time and others make more appeal. Has inconsistent form; place possibilities on penultimate effort but she isn't solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Luna De Castana |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Luna De Castana 40/1, Well held in bumpers last season and no signs of improvement on debut over timber at Newbury last month. Suffered heavy defeats the last twice; something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() High As Hope |
150/1(-355%) | (3) High As Hope 150/1, Runner-up in a point but hasn't troubled the judge in a couple of bumpers and makes limited appeal on switch to hurdling. Needs improvement on bare figures. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Briery Bee |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Briery Bee 5/1, Placed in both bumper outings and ran with promise when fourth of 15 in novice over C&D (soft, 20/1) on debut over hurdles 60 days ago. Had a wind operation since and remains with potential. Ran respectably over C&D two months ago; had wind surgery since; still open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Melleray Hill |
33/1(-136%) | (6) Melleray Hill 33/1, £25,000 5-y-o, Kingston Hill mare. Half-sister to fair 1m winner Curfewed. Dam fair 2m hurdle winner, also 8.3f winner on Flat. Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points (Apr 23). Worth monitoring in market on Rules debut. Absent since Irish point success in April 2023; market instructive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Pooley's Promise |
50/1(0%) | (9) Pooley's Promise 50/1, Finished down the field on sole bumper outing and was similar story on switch to hurdling at Chepstow 15 days ago. Down the field in both outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Swallowfields |
28/1(+15%) | (10) Swallowfields 28/1, Made little impact in bumper or on Doncaster hurdles bow in November. Looks one for handicaps down the line. In good hands but her two efforts leave a lot to be desired. |
It is hard to oppose MISTRESS EMMA, who was returning from a 903-day break when filling second place on her hurdling debut at Newbury in December. With the benefit of that outing, the former bumper winner could be hard to stop. I Am The Moon may prove to be the main danger based on her fourth at Wetherby on Boxing Day, although Briery Bee is another with claims.
Preference is for BRIERY BEE, who offered encouragement when given a considerate introduction to hurdling here 2 months ago and will have learnt plenty from that. Mistress Emma and I Am The Moon rate the principal dangers.
With wind surgery likely to bring her on, BRIERY BEE is preferred. I Am The Moon and Mistress Emma complete the shortlist.

1st (6) ![]() Jet To Vegas |
7/4(+0%) | (6) Jet To Vegas 7/4, Easy winner sole outing in Irish points in May. Had breathing operation before shaping well when second in a Carlisle bumper in October and found only one too good both starts over hurdles, asked to make up plenty of ground for latest of them at Musselburgh 6 weeks ago. One to consider. Runner-up on both hurdling starts (2m1f/2m4f) and likely to play another major role here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Admiral Stewart |
1/1(+75%) | (1) Admiral Stewart 1/1, Second only start in bumpers and looked professional as he went one place better on hurdles bow at Ffos Las (15.8f) in November. May of found race coming too soon when pulled up in Sandown Grade 2 next time and he's worth another chance. Found Grade 2 too hot last time but was quite impressive on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Highland Fashion |
20/1(-25%) | (4) Highland Fashion 20/1, Easily best of his three runs when second of 10 in bumper (50/1) at Kelso (16.2f, good) in May. Held back by inexperience when sixth of 9 in novice hurdle debut at Perth (20f) a month later and he's probably one for handicaps later on. Second in quite valuable bumper last May but struggled on hurdle debut one month later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Burning It Up |
22/1(-10%) | (3) Burning It Up 22/1, £35,000 4-y-o, Milan gelding. Third on only outing in Irish points and showed a bit in bumper/maiden hurdle at Kelso in recent months. However, he appeals as a likely longer-term project, including when tackling 2½m. Made quite encouraging hurdle debut last month but probably one for another day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Jehol De Thaix |
7/2(+42%) | (5) Jehol De Thaix 7/2, Masked Marvel gelding. Showed plenty to work on when second in a Uttoxeter bumper (15.8f) in the summer and similar story after 7 months off when third on hurdles bow at Kelso (16.2f) in December, threatening briefly 2 out before staying on. Looks a sure-fire improver. Did well to finish third on recent hurdling debut and has obvious potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Lunar Rocks |
400/1(-167%) | (10) Lunar Rocks 400/1, Poor maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) who jumped ponderously and ultimately offered little when pulled up on hurdles bow at Musselburgh (15.5f) in November. Can only be watched. Lacked fluency and was pulled up when 125-1 for hurdling debut in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Bray Dale |
300/1(-100%) | (2) Bray Dale 300/1, Failed to come up to expectations in bumpers for Nicky Richards and no promise for current yard, looking badly in need of the run after 23 months off when pulled up in novice hurdle at Kelso (16.2f, soft) on hurdles bow 43 days ago. Struggled when 200-1 for last month's hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Just Winging It |
300/1(-200%) | (7) Just Winging It 300/1, Tailed off in a C&D bumper in October but did at least display minor promise on debut in this sphere despite finishing eleventh of 12 in a Carlisle novice (17f) 5 weeks ago. Still, he's probably only going to become of interest when tackling low-grade handicaps. Well beaten on first two starts (bumper/hurdle) and can't be recommended here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Rawhide Kid |
50/1(-52%) | (8) Rawhide Kid 50/1, Well Chosen gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (3m-31f winner) Mr Vango. Placed on second of 2 starts in Irish points in early-2023 but this trip may be on the short side making Rules debut. Promising Irish point third in February 2023 but makes rules debut after long absence. |
GREEN SKY looked set to go close before making a bad mistake at the second-last hurdle in a C&D handicap in early November. The five-year-old certainly performed better than the fourth-placed effort suggests on that occasion and a reproduction of her subsequent third in a 21-runner maiden hurdle at Navan may prove good enough in today's contest. Jet To Vegas has filled the runner-up berth on his last three appearances and he's feared most, ahead of penalised winner Admiral Stewart.
JET TO VEGAS leaves the distinct impression he's open to further progress having filled the runner-up spot both starts over hurdles to date, and he's given the nod to go one place better here. Green Sky boasts greater experience than most and is a player provided she's sharp again in the jumping department. Admiral Stewart and Jehol de Thaix are others meriting consideration.
Another chance is given to ADMIRAL STEWART, who struggled in a Grade 2 six weeks ago but was quite impressive on his hurdle debut.

1st (4) ![]() Leader In The Park |
5/4(+33%) | (4) Leader In The Park 5/4, Cost £250,000 from points and looked good when making all in 19.5f Doncaster maiden hurdle in February. All the better for chase bow/return when making all at Kempton on Boxing Day, finding extra after looking vulnerable. Likely to progress further so big shout up 4 lb. Made all at Kempton on Boxing Day and warrants respect with further improvement plausible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Classic Anthem |
7/1(+50%) | (6) Classic Anthem 7/1, Expensive recruit from Irish points who scored over hurdles at Sandown in December 2023. Promising start over fences back from 6 months off when second of 4 at same course in November but not so good at Newbury later that month. Bounce back needed. Form of his Sandown effort looks iffy; well beaten at Newbury since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Jupiter Des Bordes |
9/1(+36%) | (9) Jupiter Des Bordes 9/1, Fair winning hurdler in France who offered something to work on when 4 lengths fourth of 6 at Lignieres on chasing debut in November. Should do better over fences starting out for this yard on U.K debut. Ex-French 6yo who isn't easy to assess accurately; check the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Southoftheborder |
11/4(+31%) | (2) Southoftheborder 11/4, Point/bumper winner who made winning hurdles bow at Sandown on return last season. Looked in a spot of bother when unseating 2 out in a Grade 2 back there before failing to land the odds in novice when last seen a year ago. Remains with potential and probably starts chasing career off a good mark. Point/bumper/hurdle winner; retains low mileage and likely still has more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Abbeydale |
33/1(-136%) | (3) Abbeydale 33/1, Fairly useful 2m hurdler for Gordon Elliott but difficult to assess for current yard at the moment, remote second of 3 at Leicester last time having suffered a nasty experience sent chasing on return at Bangor the time before. Yet to show progress for new yard; not obviously well treated back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Ramo |
22/1(-175%) | (1) Ramo 22/1, Fairly useful hurdler who made a winning return in that sphere at Ludlow season. Pulled up in a competitive event at Aintree 9 months ago but starts out over fences for stable with fine record with similar types. Fairy useful handicap hurdler; interesting back down in grade on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Galassian |
9/1(-20%) | (7) Galassian 9/1, Lightly-raced hurdler who showed much improved form to land Bangor maiden hurdle last month. A winning pointer who looked an interesting runner switched to fences for handicap debut at Haydock 3 weeks ago but failed to complete through no fault of his own (brought down fourth). Brought down in early stages at Haydock on chase debut; retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) ![]() Johnny Jump Up |
22/1(-120%) | (5) Johnny Jump Up 22/1, Fourth both starts in Irish points who made a taking winning start to his Rules career in a 2¼m novice hurdle at Fontwell a year ago. Ran well under a penalty at Plumpton next time but disappointed at Taunton final start. Makes handicap/chase debut. Lightly raced 6yo whose form last term suggests he's one to catch fresh; interesting. |
Connections of point-to-point winner SOUTHOFTHEBORDER waste little time in sending him over fences after a promising novice hurdle campaign last season. An opening mark of 126 could prove lenient on his return from a 360-day layoff and market support for Nicky Henderson's charge would increase confidence. Leader In The Park made it second-time lucky when scoring over the larger obstacles at Kempton on Boxing Day and a 4lb higher mark is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Chase debutant Ramo is also worth a second look.
LEADER IN THE PARK looked the useful chasing prospect his physique and efforts over hurdles suggested he would be when leaving his reappearance run well behind to score at Kempton on Boxing Day and he can defy a 4 lb rise with further progress likely. The highly-regarded Southoftheborder is the obvious threat switched to fences on his belated return, with Galassian best of the others.
With further progress likely, LEADER IN THE PARK (nap) can follow up his Kempton win. Southoftheborder is second pick.

1st (10) ![]() Topkapi Star |
20/1(-43%) | (10) Topkapi Star 20/1, Bounced back to winning ways when scoring at Sedgefield (19.8f) in October but huge backward step on first run this calendar year, pulled up in a handicap hurdle at this course (20.4f, soft) 18 days ago. Cheekpieces for the first-time today and they need to spark a revival. In good form in the autumn but ran no race here last time; too inconsistent to rely upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Anamanda |
6/1(+20%) | (8) Anamanda 6/1, Fairly useful winner on the Flat in France who has shown some promise in handicap hurdles, running best race upped in trip when second of 9 in November (23.8f, Musselburgh). Didn't quite back that up when fourth in a stronger race 19 days ago but back down in grade today and has place claims. Chased home bang-in-form rival two starts ago but overall record not convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Red Cadillac |
7/2(+71%) | (5) Red Cadillac 7/2, Made the frame on both bumper outings last season but just modest form in maiden hurdles, latest over an inadequate trip when fourth of 8 in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, good to soft) 25 days ago, never involved. Entitled to do better now up in trip on handicap bow with yard in good form. Displayed promise in three maiden hurdles and can improve in handicaps; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Cowboy Cooper |
10/1(-122%) | (11) Cowboy Cooper 10/1, Made the frame a few times over hurdles and has improved over fences, shedding maiden tag at Perth (23.8f, soft) when last seen in May, ridden positively. Solid claims back over smaller obstacles if ready to roll following 8-month absence. Won over fences last spring but this hurdle return comes after a 250-day absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Maillot Blanc |
15/2(-25%) | (3) Maillot Blanc 15/2, Arrives in decent nick, seventh of 10 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (23.8f, good to soft) 42 days ago, but not given hard time once beaten. Eased 1 lb for that effort and arrives here with each-way claims. Placed at Kelso two starts ago but has modes strike-rate and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Euchan Falls |
14/1(+30%) | (9) Euchan Falls 14/1, Course winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2023 and pulled up in handicap hurdle at this course (20.4f, soft) 18 days ago, losing place early on the final circuit. Lots to find on that evidence. Well below best since returning from a break but runs this track well and is on good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) ![]() Billable Grant |
13/2(+28%) | (13) Billable Grant 13/2, Sole success came in an Irish maiden hurdle back in March 2022. Showed the benefit of his recent stable debut, fourth of 16 in a handicap hurdle at Newcastle (20.3f, good to soft) 37 days ago, driven 4 out and kept on. Extra furlong should be okay but remains to be seen if he can back up latest run. Well down the field on stable debut but last month's Newcastle fourth was much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() It's Dan |
25/1(-25%) | (2) It's Dan 25/1, Showed promise in maiden hurdles in spring 2023 and again back from a long absence at Kelso in December but went backwards from his reappearance on handicap debut (fifth of 7 in here, 16f, heavy) 14 days ago. Up in trip but going to need to improve to defy this sort of mark. Ran well to a point over 2m here on recent handicap debut but was well beaten in the end. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) ![]() Benito |
50/1(-257%) | (6) Benito 50/1, Below his last winning mark but suffered a heavy defeat on the back of a breathing operation at Bangor in August. Off since. Would need to see market support to consider. Dual hurdle winner in 2022 but absent since a disappointing run in summer 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Santa Clarita |
6/1(-71%) | (7) Santa Clarita 6/1, Made a winning start for Dan Skelton back over hurdles at Worcester in September. Ran best race for current yard when good second of 18 in a handicap hurdle at this course (20.4f, soft) 18 days ago, running on. Stiffer test today should play to her strengths and should be in the mix once again. Creditable second of 18 over 2m4f here this month and can make her presence felt again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) ![]() The Roc Hopper |
16/1(+68%) | (12) The Roc Hopper 16/1, Encouraging sixth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, good to soft) in November but failed to come on for that run when seventh of 13 in a handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (19.8f, good to soft) 42 days ago, struggling leaving back straight. Work to do. Ran quite well at Kelso two outings ago but yet to be placed after six hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Helsgetaway |
17/2(-42%) | (1) Helsgetaway 17/2, Showed ability in bumpers and promising start in this sphere, very much shaping like a stayer on the two starts he's completed, finished fifth of 10 in a maiden hurdle at Hexham (20.1f, soft), made late headway. Extra furlong can only help and looks interesting on handicap debut. Unexposed 6yo who should have some improvement to come in handicaps. |
Having ended his last campaign with a ready victory over fences at Perth in May, Cowboy Cooper must enter calculations reverting to hurdles off what looks a workable mark. Market support for Donald Whillans' charge on his return to action must be noted, but it may be worth taking a punt on handicap debutant HELSGETAWAY. Although the son of Getaway will need to jump with more fluency than when fifth at Hexham last month, an official rating of 100 could prove on the lenient side. Santa Clarita is also noted.
Handicap-debutant HELSGETAWAY gets the vote having shown promise in novice hurdles, so he looks the type to make an impact in this sphere now tackling a longer trip. Cowboy Cooper is very much respected on his return to action over hurdles having really found his feet over the bigger obstacles last season, while Santa Clarita and Anamanda shouldn't be far away in an open-looking contenst.
Handicap debutants RED CADILLAC and Helsgetaway have significant potential and may fight this out.

1st (4) ![]() Shallow |
7/2(+56%) | (4) Shallow 7/2, Lightly-raced winner. Two wins from 4 runs last year. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 16/1) 77 days ago and although she may come on for the run, improvement is needed to land this. Two 6f AW wins last year; only seen twice in nine months and well held on each occasion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Pure Angel |
5/2(-43%) | (3) Pure Angel 5/2, Enjoyed return to 6f when second of 9 in a handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 18/1) 13 days ago. That was her best effort this winter and she looks to have solid claims once again. Improving run by run after a long absence; good second at Wolverhampton latest; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Cinque Verde |
5/1(-167%) | (1) Cinque Verde 5/1, Son 6 of her 13 starts on the all-weather, returning from 5-month break when winning an 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 9 days ago. Up to 6f today but she seems versatile at sprint trips and she should be bang in contention again. Good record in AW handicaps; 2lb rise for recent Wolverhampton win manageable; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() My Awele |
9/2(+36%) | (5) My Awele 9/2, Latest win at Southwell in October. 9/1, last of 7 in a handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 30 days ago but was too keen to do herself justice that day. Two Southwell wins last year; held off this mark the last twice; needs a personal best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Just A Spark |
3/1(+63%) | (2) Just A Spark 3/1, C&D winner has regressed since landing a hat-trick at the start of 2024. Last of 9 in a handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 16/1) 13 days ago and a spark is what she needs, although she did come good at this time of the year in 2024 and it might be significant if any market support comes her way. C&D winner; yet to fire this winter but better is expected in this company. |
Cinque Verde has to be respected following her success over 5f at Wolverhampton recently, but marginal preference is for PURE ANGEL. James Horton's mare has improved with each start since returning from a lengthy break and her close second last time suggests that she can score in a race of this nature. My Awele edges out Shallow to be best of the rest.
This can go to CINQUE VERDE who has an admirable record on the AW and was in fine form when winning at Wolverhampton 9 days ago. Pure Angel looks a standout danger having turned in her best effort of the winter last time. Of the others, Just A Spark would be of some interest if the market hints that a return to form is on the cards.
Cinque Verde and JUST A SPARK boast fine AW records and the latter can capitalise on her drop in the weights.

1st (2) ![]() Ikarak |
7/1(-56%) | (2) Ikarak 7/1, Bounced back to form on debut for new yard when winning 8-runner handicap hurdle (5/4) over C&D in November, easily. Had won over larger obstacles in France but clearly didn't take to fences last time, mistakes and pulled up. Respected back over smaller obstacles for in-form yard. C&D winner in Nov off just 3lb lower; made too many mistakes back chasing last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Jalisco Star |
9/1(-13%) | (8) Jalisco Star 9/1, Arrives in search of a hat-trick after winning a 3m handicap hurdles at Ascot and Ffos Las (23.9f, heavy), holding on gamely last-time. Clearly in good heart but up another 5 lb for latest win and into deeper waters here. Career-best form in going back-to-back in handicaps at Ascot (good) and Ffos Las (heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Minniemum |
14/1(+44%) | (10) Minniemum 14/1, Free-goer who finally came good in 23f Bangor handicap in May but below-par on two starts this campaign, sixth of 10 in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster (24.4f, good to soft, 14/1) 38 days ago, faded after 2 out. Needs more. Fairly handicapped and second run back from a break was more encouraging than the first. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Land Genie |
11/10(+56%) | (5) Land Genie 11/10, Fair staying hurdler for the O'Neill stable and has progressed for the Skelton yard on the back of wind surgery. scoring on only his second start for his new handler, winning with a bit in hand here 20 days ago (26f, soft). Could easily have more to offer and looks to have excellent claims. Has an 8lb rise to deal with but could be progressive (wind surgery has clearly worked). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Warranty |
10/1(-67%) | (3) Warranty 10/1, Course winner had a few quiet runs over hurdles for this yard (previously with Gary Moore) but landed a double on the Flat in May and has returned to the best of his hurdles form in recent starts, second of 11 in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield (23f, good to soft) 33 days ago, clear of third. Player. Solid seconds the last twice but has gone up 6lb for those defeats. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() I'm A Starman |
14/1(0%) | (9) I'm A Starman 14/1, Admirable sort. C&D winner and well into the veteran stage now but shaped as if retaining all his ability after 7 months off, 7¾ lengths third of 10 to Land Genie here 20 days ago. Can give another good account of himself with top jockey enlisted. Had no excuses behind Land Genie here last month and he's an exposed 12yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Jatiluwih |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Jatiluwih 16/1, Is a long time without a win and has tumbled down the weights as a result, dropped another 4 lb than his latest effort when 15 lengths sixth of 10 to Land Genie here (26f, soft) 20 days ago, possibly not suited by patient tactics. Veteran performer tried in cheekpieces now and place claims at best. Without a win under rules since 2019 and was well behind Land Genie here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Glimpse Of Gala |
25/1(+24%) | (4) Glimpse Of Gala 25/1, C&D winner who made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Worcester in October 2023 but regressed in two starts since, pulled up in first-time blinkers at Hereford 30 days ago. Cheekpieces replace blinkers today and on something of a recovery mission back over hurdles. Has questions to answer now after two modest shows over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) ![]() Sporty Jim |
16/1(+0%) | (11) Sporty Jim 16/1, Has placed here a couple of times and possibly not suited by the run of the race when 11¼ lengths fifth of 10 to Land Genie 20 days ago. Could well get a stronger pace to aim at here and he a could be lively outsider. Another member of the trailing party behind Land Genie here on New Year's Eve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() East Street |
11/1(-83%) | (6) East Street 11/1, Visored and landed hat-trick when winning handicap chases at Wetherby/Leicester and a Haydock handicap hurdle this winter. Pulled up back at Haydock last time over the bigger obstacles and returns to hurdling with a little bit to prove now. Struggled in a good chase last time but debatable whether he can slip back into the groove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Slip Of The Tongue |
150/1(-127%) | (1) Slip Of The Tongue 150/1, Ended time with Padraig Roche in Ireland out of sorts and showed nothing having been easy to back on two starts (hurdles and fences) for new yard. Blinkers tried now but easy to dismiss. Dual hurdle winner in Ireland but looking regressive now after recent non-completions. |
Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with IKARAK but it may pay to do so. He showed a likeable attitude when scoring over C&D on his seasonal return in November, before pulling up in a deeper race at Aintree most recently. Off 3lb higher than his last winning mark, he could bounce back. Warranty arrives on the back of a couple of runner-up efforts and he merits respect in a bid to go one better. Land Genie is also one for the shortlist.
LAND GENIE won with plenty in hand here on New Year's Eve and remains unexposed over staying trips for his excellent yard. Sporty Jim has placed here on a couple of occasions and could outrun his odds with a stronger pace to aim at. Warranty and Ikarak should be thereabouts also.
It could be onwards and upwards for LAND GENIE who has made a good start for the Skeltons following a wind operation.

1st (4) ![]() Hombre De Guerra |
11/8(+31%) | (4) Hombre De Guerra 11/8, Fair hurdler who got off the mark in maiden company in March and made pleasing return/chase debut at Carlisle last month. Landed the odds with the minimum of fuss in C&D handicap (soft) since and remains open to improvement in this sphere. Dominated from the front and beat three rivals very comfortably over C&D 18 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Galunggung |
6/1(-20%) | (3) Galunggung 6/1, Progressive, dual winner over hurdles who made perfect start over the larger obstacles when winning 4-runner handicap at Perth (16f) in May. Looked set to add to that victory when making bad mistake 2 out at Market Rasen last month and can race off same mark here. Might have been unlucky at Market Rasen on Boxing Day but this race looks tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Primoz |
13/8(+59%) | (2) Primoz 13/8, Bookended his novice campaign over hurdles with victories at this course (both 16f) and perfect start in this sphere when scoring at Wetherby on return. However, checked out rather tamely at Cheltenham next time and needs to bounce back from a heavy fall at Newbury last month. Has not yet progressed from his winning chase debut but remains a good prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Western Fold |
6/1(-200%) | (1) Western Fold 6/1, Useful hurdler who was running to that sort of level when coming down (looked booked for fourth place) at final fence on chase debut at Fairyhouse (16.5f, good to soft) 37 days ago. Switches to handicaps now and warrants respect. Ran well before last-fence fall in high-quality Fairyhouse beginners' chase last month. |
Primoz and Western Fold arrive on the back of falls, but they both likely have better days ahead in this discipline and neither can be dismissed. Regardless, HOMBRE DE GUERRA built on his promising chase bow behind the smart Caldwell Potter at Carlisle when scoring with ease over this track and trip 18 days ago. Although the handicapper has reacted with a 10lb hike in the ratings, Nick Alexander's charge rates as the most solid proposition and a brace may be on the cards.
HOMBRE DE GUERRA hasn't been missed by the handicapper for his facile success here earlier this month but remains with potential and can follow up. Galunggung is feared most.
Class act WESTERN FOLD was just about holding his own against some very smart rivals before a late mishap on his chasing debut.

1st (1) ![]() Blue Laced |
6/4(+55%) | (1) Blue Laced 6/4, Thrice-raced filly. 28/1, third of 13 in a maiden over C&D 33 days ago, stuck on well and seems to know her job now. One for the shortlist. Best run so far when third of 13 over C&D last month; solid form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Romantic Opera |
5/6(+72%) | (8) Romantic Opera 5/6, Ghaiyyath filly cost 500,000 gns as a yearling, Lot to like about debut effort (weak in the market), dwelt, made progress over 1f out and kept on under a sympathetic ride. Entitled to come on for that experience and step up to middle-distance could unlock even more improvement. Big player. Seventh of 12 in a blanket finish here (1m) in November; open to improvement up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() La Trinite |
33/1(+18%) | (3) La Trinite 33/1, Sister to 12.2f winner Testy and half-sister to 1½m winner (stays 1¾m) Lady Pacifico (by Sir Percy). No surprise to see her start off over middle-distances and may be better over even further in time. Tough ask on debut. Has a couple of winning siblings over middle distances but likely best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Queen Of Mercia |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Queen Of Mercia 20/1, Golden Horn filly. Dam 2-y-o 1m winner who stayed 11.5f out of smart 1¼m-1½m winner Gertrude Bell. Last of 10 in a novice event at Lingfield (10f, AW, 11/1) on debut 17 days ago. Blinkered for first time and needs to leave debut run well-behind. Palpably green when last of ten on this month's Lingfield debut; now tried in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Romance In Rome |
11/1(+8%) | (7) Romance In Rome 11/1, Churchill filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Yaajooz. Dam unraced out of useful 2-y-o 6f winner Cherokee. Will likely find a few too good on debut. Half-sister to 1m winner Yaajooz (RPR 79); betting to guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Jackrabbit |
150/1(-88%) | (2) Jackrabbit 150/1, Twice-raced filly. Last of 8 in a maiden at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 80/1) 30 days ago. Cheekpieces on for the first time today but looks more one for the longer term. Poor form in two runs over shorter last month; new trip/headgear not enough to tempt. |
PEARL OF HOPE showed plenty of promise when filling second place over a mile here a month ago and the step up in trip could help the daughter of Dubawi to go one better now. Blue Laced has made the frame on her last couple of starts and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Romantic Opera and Pink Petunia look next best.
Godolphin might hold the key to this race, and it will be worth monitoring the betting as Charlie Appleby fields two interesting fillies who both look to have strong claims. The once-raced ROMANTIC OPERA is taken to build on her eye-catching debut effort and can take this at the expense of well-bred stablemate Pearl of Hope who has done little wrong in two starts. Blue Laced has improved with every run and should not be underestimated.
The Charlie Appleby-trained pair Romantic Opera and PEARL OF HOPE can fight this out. Marginal preference is for the latter.

1st (14) ![]() Ideallko |
3/1(+40%) | (14) Ideallko 3/1, Improved for switch to chasing winning handicaps at Ffos Las and Plumpton during early stages of last season. Notched third success in that sphere when returning to action here on New Year's Eve and, if able to translate that improved form back over hurdles, he will be a danger to all. Won over fences here on New Year's Eve; now 5lb higher in that sphere; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Moor End |
10/1(+50%) | (2) Moor End 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler who resumed from 7 months off with a good third of 16 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, soft) at the beginning of December. Subsequent effort upped to 23.3f at Uttoxeter represented a sizeable step in the wrong direction, though. The drop back in trip looks a plus for this six-race maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) ![]() Greenways |
7/2(+42%) | (11) Greenways 7/2, Justified support having joined this yard from Dominic Ffrench Davis when readily scoring in handicap hurdle at Hereford (21.7f, good) in November. Has made the frame both subsequent starts and likely to give another good account. Won at Hereford on debut for this yard; subsequent defeats can be excused. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Staff Sergeant Len |
28/1(-40%) | (4) Staff Sergeant Len 28/1, Fair form standout effort in bumpers and while she hasn't shown much in a trio of novice hurdles at around 2m, he could do better now upped in trip with cheekpieces enlisted for this handicap debut. Needs a turnaround in first-time headgear on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Rockette |
33/1(-230%) | (8) Rockette 33/1, Well held in 2 bumpers but showed ability both starts over hurdles for Dan Skelton in May/June 2023. Subsequent absence is naturally a concern ahead of this handicap/yard debut but she has been handed a potentially decent opening mark and needs close attention in the betting. Absent since 2023 but market support should be heeded on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Goddess Afrana |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Goddess Afrana 14/1, Modest in bumpers and while she bettered her first 2 efforts over hurdles when fourth in a 9-runner Wetherby novice (2m, soft) last month, her mark for this handicap debut is fair at best. Ran well last time; could take another step forward now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Talysh |
66/1(-100%) | (10) Talysh 66/1, Didn't achieve much when making the frame in a couple of mares maidens first 2 starts this season and has made a discouraging start to life in handicaps. Hopes pinned on the first-time cheekpieces having a positive effect. Chance depends on how well she responds to cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (16) ![]() Falstaff |
16/1(+0%) | (16) Falstaff 16/1, Well held in a bumper and 3 starts over hurdles to date. However, he's more interesting now pitched into a handicap and it'll be interesting to see what the market has to say. From a smart family and may improve off an opening mark of just 79. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) ![]() Aunty Christine |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Aunty Christine 9/1, No show in a couple of bumpers but has shown ability on 2 of her 3 starts since tackling hurdles, most recently finishing a respectable fourth of 11 at Catterick (15.7f, good) where she wasn't knocked about. One to keep an eye now handicapping and back up in trip with a first-time hood added. May settle better and show improvement with hood applied on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (15) ![]() Larkfield Lusive |
9/1(+73%) | (15) Larkfield Lusive 9/1, Modest maiden who wasn't disgraced on first 2 starts for present connections but form has dipped since and he was nearer last than first at Stratford when last seen 6 months ago. Still a maiden but this drop back in distance may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (13) ![]() Raise Your Glass |
14/1(-40%) | (13) Raise Your Glass 14/1, Appeared to improve a touch when runner-up on second start for this yard in a Stratford juvenile event last March. Has failed to build on that switched to handicaps the last twice, albeit she did fare a bit better than the distance beaten on return in October and has since undergone a wind op. Had further wind surgery since last run; may see her race out better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Emma Hamilton |
7/2(-17%) | (9) Emma Hamilton 7/2, Winner of 2 of her 3 starts since equipped with a visor, producing her best effort yet when accounting for 12 rivals at Uttoxeter (22.2f, heavy) last month. 6 lb rise fair enough and, on the proviso that this drop back in trip doesn't count against her, she should be firmly in the mix. Form figures of 131 since wearing a visor, the wins over 3m and 2m6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) ![]() Star Turn |
66/1(-65%) | (3) Star Turn 66/1, Modest form at best on the Flat and over hurdles for Alan King, well beaten both starts switched to handicap company in this sphere, including on last month's return/debut for new yard. Tongue strap applied. Maiden who has a poor handicap record; tongue-tie fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) ![]() Lucky Draw |
125/1(-89%) | (1) Lucky Draw 125/1, Fair on Flat and over hurdles but needs treating with caution following an inauspicious return from 17 months off at Hereford where she was reluctant to line up and never in the hunt thereafter (eventually pulled up). Achieved nothing last month on return from lengthy absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) ![]() Jack Sparrow Grey |
33/1(-230%) | (12) Jack Sparrow Grey 33/1, Mere glimmers of ability in a Sandown bumper on debut in November 2023 but he hasn't shown much in 3 starts over hurdles. Handicap bow. Half-brother to a five-time winner for his connections; interesting handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Ebony Jade |
66/1(-65%) | (7) Ebony Jade 66/1, Poor form over hurdles in Ireland and pulled up on his yard debut in 2m Doncaster handicap hurdle last month. Best to look elsewhere. Has very weak claims on form. |
A strong case can be made for a few of these and only a tentative vote goes to IDEALLKO. Evan Williams' charge did it well when landing a 2m chase here last month and, stepping up in trip off 1lb higher on his return to hurdles, he could prove tough to stop. Fellow last-time-out winner Emma Hamilton could emerge as the main danger to the selection for all that a 6lb rise demands more of her. Greenways is respected most out of the remainder.
AUNTY CHRISTINE makes her handicap debut on the back of an encouraging display in what looked a decent novice at Catterick last month and she earns the vote ahead of the in-form pair Emma Hamilton and Ideallko. The former is feared most on account of the fact that Ideallko needs to prove that he can reproduce something akin to his improved chase form now returning to this sphere. Greenways shouldn't be too far away and Rockette needs a market check.
Back up in distance, GREENWAYS gets the verdict. Ideallko and Emma Hamilton are other strong contenders on form.

1st (3) ![]() Ginger Mail |
12/1(-243%) | (3) Ginger Mail 12/1, Consistent type who won at Kelso (2m) last January and was also an excellent second in the valuable Morebattle Hurdle there in March. Shaped well on last month's reappearance (back at Kelso) but unable to build on that at Musselburgh since, in need of a stronger gallop. Dropped another 2 lb. Not at best this season but is a player if judged on last year's Morebattle second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Nab Wood |
11/4(-38%) | (4) Nab Wood 11/4, Lightly-raced gelding won novice hurdle at Kelso 12 months ago and followed up in equally impressive style on handicap debut there in February (overcoming pace bias). Showed plenty to work on after 11 months off when sixth at same track on return just over 3 weeks ago and should come on from that. Low-mileage 8yo; ended last season with two wins and made encouraging return last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Park Annonciade |
5/2(+58%) | (5) Park Annonciade 5/2, Fairly useful hurdler who was in the process of running well (in second at the time) when falling 3 out in handicap chase at Doncaster (19f) last month. Never on terms at this course (16.5f, soft) earlier in the month (didn't look a natural chaser) so no surprise to see him back hurdling. Chasing has not really gone to plan this season but he's on a tempting hurdle mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Golden Maverick |
10/3(+26%) | (7) Golden Maverick 10/3, A fairly useful 5-time winner on the Flat for Ian Williams and scored twice hurdling for current yard last spring. Stepped up on return while typically looking a hard ride when fourth of 8 at Lingfield (19.5f, soft) 6 weeks ago and no surprise to see a first-time visor applied. Raced lazily when fourth at Lingfield last month but visor might keep him focused here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Foster'sisland |
6/1(-9%) | (2) Foster'sisland 6/1, Winless last season but signed off with a good third here in the spring and similar form after 7 months off when second of 6 at Wetherby (19.7f) in November. Found out in a better race at Cheltenham a fortnight later but back on song returned to the North when fourth on Boxing Day. Six hurdle wins (one over C&D); gave good account at Wetherby on Boxing Day; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Rafferty's Return |
16/1(0%) | (1) Rafferty's Return 16/1, Front runner who landed a pair of handicap hurdles early last year. Held when falling 2 out on his Wetherby reappearance and ran below form ridden with more restraint at Doncaster since, his jumping not nearly as fluent as is often the case. Cheekpieces back on and has a bit to prove now. Yet to get going this season but current mark is workable and he has headgear refitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() El Jefe |
40/1(-186%) | (6) El Jefe 40/1, Enjoyed a fine 2023/24, gaining a fifth victory when landing amateur riders' handicap (16.5f) at the Grand National Meeting in April. Looked rusty returning from 9 months off back there on Boxing Day (had wind op) and no surprise if he still needs this before he starts to refind his form. Surprise winner at last season's Aintree festival but tailed off there on Boxing Day. |
Nab Wood had excuses when finishing sixth in his hat-trick bid over an extended 2m6f at Kelso last month and it would be no surprise if he were able to make his presence felt now eased in trip off an unchanged mark. That said, he is tentatively taken on with FOSTER'SISLAND. Micky Hammond's charge was in with a winning chance at the final flight before fading into fourth on the run-in over an extended 2m5f at Wetherby on Boxing day and, coming back a furlong in distance off 1lb lower, this may be the day to catch him. Golden Maverick is another for the shortlist.
Tough to rule out any on the septet but the verdict goes to NAB WOOD, who was a dual winner at Kelso around this time last year and showed plenty to work on returning from 11 months off just over 3 weeks ago. It's fair to say Park Annonciade didn't look a natural over fences, so Stuart Crawford's 7-y-o heads up the dangers back in this discipline, with Golden Maverick taken to edge out Ginger Mail for third spot.
Low-mileage 8yo NAB WOOD (nap) looked progressive in the early part of last year and can build upon his encouraging reappearance run.

![]() Sold The Dream |
(8) 13/2(+7%) | (8) Sold The Dream 13/2, Good second of 14 in handicap at this C&D (5/2) 75 days ago, better placed than most. Will need to raise his game in order to go one better in this contest. Second run for this yard when nabbed on the line over C&D in early November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) ![]() Villalobos |
25/1(+11%) | (5) Villalobos 25/1, Latest win at Salisbury in August. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW, 40/1) 11 days ago. Visor back on. Tough to assess at present. Tailed off when attempting hurdles in November and well held since in two Flat runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Stella Hogan |
4/5(+73%) | (1) Stella Hogan 4/5, 7/2 and hooded for 1st time, won 14-runner handicap at this C&D 5 days ago. This is more demanding under a penalty and she may find one or two too good this time. Impressed in this first-time headgear combination here five days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Heerathetrack |
11/2(+15%) | (6) Heerathetrack 11/2, Course winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2024. Creditable third of 11 in handicap (9/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 13 days ago. Place possibilities. Has never won a handicap and was beaten 3.5l in the latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Reverberation |
28/1(+0%) | (7) Reverberation 28/1, 18/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 32 days ago. Looks vulnerable once more. Third at Chelmsford before an excusable failure back there a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() No News |
33/1(-65%) | (4) No News 33/1, Course winner. 14/1, twelfth of 14 in handicap at this course (7f) 61 days ago. Others are more appealing. Went close over Lingfield's 7f in September but he's been disappointing since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() River Wharfe |
11/2(-38%) | (2) River Wharfe 11/2, Won 9-runner handicap (12/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 7 days ago, pushed out. 4 lb penalty shouldn't prevent this 7-y-o from producing another bold show. One of two strong candidates representing the Tony Carroll yard, Boujee Gold being the other. Had consistency rewarded last week and can run well again despite the 4lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Dors Delight |
125/1(-150%) | (11) Dors Delight 125/1, 18/1, eighth of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 16 days ago. Readily passed over. Placed two runs back but, like a few in here, she's becoming hard to trust. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Dourado |
50/1(-52%) | (9) Dourado 50/1, C&D winner. 25/1, tenth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 75 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Down to a career-low mark but now a veteran and has struggled badly the last twice. |
River Wharfe has to be of interest following his success over 7f at Wolverhampton a week ago, while similar comments apply to the recent C&D winner Stella Hogan. That said, the vote goes to SOLD THE DREAM, who was only beaten a nose by a well-handicapped rival when last seen over track and trip in November and a 1lb rise may underestimate the unexposed four-year-old
It may well be a Tony Caroll-trained 1-2 with his representatives BOUJEE GOLD and River Wharfe both arriving here in good form and with solid claims. Preference is for the former, who was successful at Wolverhampton on her penultimate start and she probably would've followed up at the same course 13 days ago had things panned out better (left poorly placed). Heerathetrack is third on the list, with recent C&D winner Stella Hogan looking vulnerable under a penalty.
It was quite taking how STELLA HOGAN made up her ground from off the pace here last week and she can defy the penalty.

1st (10) ![]() Always Busy |
2/1(+56%) | (10) Always Busy 2/1, Modest handicap hurdler (1-12 in that sphere) and left his low-key chase debut behind when runner-up at Wincanton last month. Backed that up when second at Taunton and should make another bold bid. Front-running 2nd at Taunton and forcing tactics can be rewarded around here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Isle Of Gold |
14/1(+13%) | (5) Isle Of Gold 14/1, Runner-up sole start between the flags and bettered low-key Rules debut when fourth of 9 in a Chepstow maiden upped to 23.6f in March 2023. However, very lightly raced since and has enough to prove switched to fences. Headgear on. Quiet in four runs over hurdles but he was second in a point and could be a better chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Chatshow Tv |
11/4(+45%) | (2) Chatshow Tv 11/4, Belatedly built on his earlier promise in a first-time hood after 7 months off when second at Chepstow in October. Back up in trip switched to fences and should make a chaser (runner-up sole start in Irish points). Ran well in final hurdle (hooded); retains potential and fences could be the making of him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Zero Tolerance |
7/1(-75%) | (7) Zero Tolerance 7/1, Still a maiden but improved form when runner-up in handicap chases this season 6 months apart. Merits consideration. 8yo with just ten races behind and has finished second in two of his three chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Lyrical Genius |
16/1(-33%) | (9) Lyrical Genius 16/1, Has an unattractive style but he's well handicapped and made a positive first start for this yard when third at Huntingdon/Fakenham both starts this season. Tongue strap back on and in the mix. Competitive efforts since returning from a break, over 2m7f and 3m5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Hermes Du Gouet |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Hermes Du Gouet 33/1, Point/hurdles winner and best effort over fences last season when second of 4 in handicap chase at Fontwell (26f, heavy) in March. Ran poorly both starts this term, however, so plenty to prove now. Has performed poorly in 3m1f/2m4f handicap chases this season, latterly tried in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Innisfree Lass |
15/2(+25%) | (4) Innisfree Lass 15/2, Improved upped in trip/with cheekpieces fitted when running out a wide-margin winner of 2 handicap hurdles at Southwell (24.3f, heavy) during second half of last term. Hasn't kicked on switched to fences this season, albeit running respectably. Finished fourth in all her chases, beaten about 5l and 10l in the last two at about 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() I See You Well |
80/1(-220%) | (1) I See You Well 80/1, Plenty of wins in a long career but losing run is mounting up and well held both starts this season. Winless since 2022 and worrying signs at Plumpton this season as he goes well there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) ![]() Keppel Queen |
8/1(-78%) | (8) Keppel Queen 8/1, Improved switched to handicaps last 2 starts when runner-up at Chepstow/Carlisle. Worth a second look now tackling fences. Placed in two 3m handicap hurdles; lightly raced and bred to make a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Lunar Contact |
16/1(-146%) | (3) Lunar Contact 16/1, Twice a winner between the flags and on the up over fences, winning a brace of handicaps this autumn. Completed hat-trick back over timber at Southwell but had his winning run ended with a whimper back chasing at Fakenham last month. Needs to bounce back. Last time was too bad to be true but might be on a tough mark now. |
CHATSHOW TV lost little in defeat when finishing runner-up over an inadequate 2m3f over hurdles at Chepstow on his seasonal return in October and that should have teed him up nicely for a tilt at this prize. He gets the nod to make his chasing debut a winning one at the chief expense of Lunar Contact, who pulled up when bidding for a four-timer in a deeper race last time out but could land a blow now eased in grade. Zero Tolerance can also go well.
ALWAYS BUSY has taken well to fences and should be suited by the return to further, so shades the vote over Zero Tolerance, who has a similar profile to the selection. Keppel Queen and Chatshow Tv are a couple of interesting newcomers to this sphere so need considering, too.
This looks open. KEPPEL QUEEN and Chatshow Tv are just the types to do better over fences. The O'Neill runner edges preference.

1st (3) ![]() Undeniable Alibi |
10/3(+5%) | (3) Undeniable Alibi 10/3, Fairly useful hurdler but hasn't built on a respectable chase debut in 2 subsequent starts. Still early days, though, and step up in trip could suit (point winner). Made promising chase debut over 2m; two lesser runs followed (2m1f/2m6f); still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Ilikedwayurthinkin |
4/1(-167%) | (1) Ilikedwayurthinkin 4/1, Useful handicap hurdler/chaser who has rediscovered his form, winning 4 of his last 5 starts over fences, including an impressive all-the-way win at Newcastle last time. 8 lb higher now but that may not be enough to stop him. Resurgent veteran who has won four of his last five and needs to be take very seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Autonomous Cloud |
10/3(+33%) | (2) Autonomous Cloud 10/3, Dual winner at Uttoxeter and also fourth in Midlands Grand National there in March. Below par since but has at least dipped below his last winning mark. Thorough stayer; on good mark but not much has gone to plan for him this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Shighness |
17/2(-21%) | (4) Shighness 17/2, Consistent over hurdles and got off the mark at the fourth time of asking in this sphere in 4-runner Catterick handicap almost a year ago. Solid effort on final start of last season but she now needs to bounce back following a heavy reappearance defeat at Carlisle. Ended last season in good form; needs to rebound from a disappointing reappearance run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() De Legislator |
2/1(+64%) | (5) De Legislator 2/1, Shirocco gelding who won his sole start in Irish points and then his first 2 over hurdles at Hexham and Kelso. Very good fifth in Haydock Grade 2 when last seen almost 2 years ago but still rates an interesting chasing prospect. Promising novice hurdler in 2022-23; makes chase/handicap debut after long absence. |
The lightly-raced De Legislator retains plenty of potential despite a low-key effort in a Grade 2 over an extended 3m at Haydock when last seen in February and, for a yard whose inmates can often improve for a fence, he commands respect on his chasing debut. That said, he may have to play second fiddle to ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN. Following a C&D victory, Ben Haslam's charge readily brought up a double over 3m5f at Newcastle in November and the suspicion is that an 8lb rise may not be enough to anchor this progressive chaser. Irish raider Undeniable Alibi is also a key player.
ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN is absolutely thriving at present, producing a most impressive display to record his fourth win from 5 starts since sent back over fences at Newcastle in November, and this looks another good opportunity with his rivals arriving with something to prove. De Legislator has been absent for almost 2 years but is still a potentially interesting runner on his chasing debut so is feared most.
Gordon Elliott's runner UNDENIABLE ALIBI has not yet built upon his promising seasonal/chase debut but still looks interesting.

Sister to smart 1½m-14.4f winner River of Stars and half-sister to winner up to 1¾m Apadanah and 2-y-o 7f winner Ancona, both useful. dam unraced daughter of Preis der Diana winner Amarette. 2nd (1) ![]() Almosh'her |
2/1(0%) | (1) Almosh'her 2/1, Sea The Stars colt who was notably strong in the betting and made a winning start in 11-runner novice at Southwell (8.1f) just over 3 weeks ago, edging ahead final 50 yds. Looks to possess plenty of physical scope and should be able to defy a penalty upped in trip. Well backed when winning on last month's Southwell debut; new trip should suit; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Fireblade |
7/2(-40%) | (7) Fireblade 7/2, Brother to Cracksman who looks consistent rather than progressive, finding one too strong for a third time in 7-runner novice at Newcastle (12.4f, 3/1) 12 days ago, no match for winner but pulling clear of remainder. This looks a good opportunity to open his account. Consistent rather than progressive in novice events over further; vulnerable to improvers. |

4th (8) ![]() Nahy |
13/2(+24%) | (8) Nahy 13/2, 525,000 gns yearling, Lope De Vega colt who is bred to be useful and offered something to work on fitted with tongue strap for debut when 6¼ lengths sixth of 11 to Almosh'her in novice (13/2) at Southwell (8.1f) just over 3 weeks ago. Upped in trip and should have more to offer. In need of the experience when sixth behind Almosh'her on debut; open to improvement. |

40/1(-60%) | (13) Sawgrass 40/1, Gleneagles Filly. Sister to smart winner up to 1½m Stay Alert and interesting to see if any market support comes her way on racecourse bow. First foal of a 1m2f-1m4f winner (including Listed); worth a market check. |

7th (4) ![]() The Cooleen |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) ![]() Kevano Breeze |
300/1(-200%) | (3) Kevano Breeze 300/1, Modest form completed start from 3 bumpers. Can only be watched. Modest in bumpers and he'd be a surprise winner now making his Flat debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Breathless Bishop |
200/1(-506%) | (2) Breathless Bishop 200/1, 10/1, failed to progress from debut when fourth of 8 in novice at Windsor (10f, good to firm) when last seen 19 months ago. First run for yard after leaving Harry & Roger Charlton. Two runs in summer 2023, showing some promise; makes stable debut after 581 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) ![]() Courageous Gold |
66/1(-500%) | (5) Courageous Gold 66/1, Magna Grecia gelding who was well backed for debut but proved clueless for the most part when fifth of 8 in novice at Southwell (11.1f) just over 3 weeks ago, making late progress when getting the far rail to race against 2f out. Sure to progress. Didn't live up to market billing on debut when inexperience was evident; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) ![]() Paradise Circus |
300/1(-140%) | (9) Paradise Circus 300/1, Showed nothing when always behind in junior bumper and best to look elsewhere switched to the Flat. 80-1 when tailed off in a Hereford bumper last month; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) ![]() Ruby Kendyl |
300/1(-275%) | (12) Ruby Kendyl 300/1, 10,000 gns foal, 5,000 gns yearling, Ulysses filly. Half-sister to several winners, including 1m/8.3f winner Al Nafoorah and winner up to 9.5f Hallalulu. Dam 1½m-1¾m winner who stayed 17f. Plenty of stamina on the dam's side but likely to need the experience. Half-sister to four winners but others have stronger paper claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) ![]() Yes Sir |
200/1(-809%) | (10) Yes Sir 200/1, Showed much more than on debut when fourth of 8 in novice (7/1) at Southwell (11.1f) just over 3 weeks ago. May well progress again. Second run was better than his first but he'll need further improvement to take this. |
Almosh'her dug deep to make a winning debut at Southwell last month and he must enter calculations on his follow-up bid. However, a 7lb penalty demands improvement from the son of Sea The Stars and FIREBLADE may have his measure. The John & Thady Gosden-trained gelding has posted several creditable efforts in defeat since his debut in September, most lately when runner-up at Newcastle, and a breakthrough victory may beckon. Market support for 350,000gns newcomer Amazonian would be interesting.
ALMOSH'HER landed a few tidy bets on debut at Southwell just over 3 weeks ago and, possessing plenty of physical scope, Charlie Fellowes' 4-y-o is fancied to defy a penalty stepping up in distance at the expense of Fireblade, who looks consistent rather than progressive and may have to settle for a fourth silver medal. Amazonian ticks plenty of boxes on paper, so she can fight out third with the once-raced Nahy.
Al Mosh'her can go well but he's penalised and there are some interesting newcomers. AMAZONIAN may be the answer.

12/1(-71%) | (1) Bardenstown Lad 12/1, Winner of a handicap hurdle and maiden chase for Gavin Cromwell at Kilbeggan in 2024. Won't be found wanting fitness-wise following a couple of spins between the flags last month but likely to have his work cut out here against Lord du Mesnil and Eva's Oskar, if those rivals are on-song. Recent point second; useful hurdler/chaser when trained in Ireland and still only a 10yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Eva's Oskar |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Eva's Oskar 13/2, Likeable chaser who landed a valuable Cheltenham handicap a couple of seasons back. Didn't shape badly at Chepstow on his sole appearance last term and could prove a tough nut to crack now pitched into a hunter chase if anywhere near his best following a 15-month absence. Flashes of very smart form but makes hunter chase debut after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Desert Fortune |
80/1(-21%) | (9) Desert Fortune 80/1, Didn't offer much over hurdles for Christian Williams, but this former point winner fared much better when runner-up Leicester on yard/chase debut for Venetia Williams last February. No impact both starts since and has moved yards (sold just £1,000) ahead of her return/debut in hunters. Winning pointer but 0-9 under rules and left Venetia Williams for £1,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Dusart |
12/1(-243%) | (4) Dusart 12/1, Made up into a very smart performer during first half of 2022, winning 3 of his 4 starts. Has seemingly hard to train, making it 3 successive non-completions by running poorly when last seen at Newbury in December 2023. Switched yards since, and unseated rider sole start in points last month. Classy chaser at his best but his current ability is hard to gauge. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Get Bye |
150/1(-200%) | (6) Get Bye 150/1, No real impact in bumpers/over hurdles and similar story over handicap chases when last seen in 2021/22 campaign. Has since left Tom Geroge and been successful in points, finishing runner-up on last 3 starts (latest Jan 2024). Runner-up in his last three points but a low-grade performer under rules. |
Still lightly-raced for his age, the formerly smart DUSART gets the nod to score. He was still going well when unseating his rider on his debut for this stable in a point-to-point last month and provided he is none the worse for that mishap, he could have too much in his locker for this opposition. Lord Du Mesnil showed flashes of useful form in defeat last term and it would be no surprise if he had a part to play on his seasonal return. Eva's Oskar looks the pick of the rest.
A smart handicap chaser in his pomp, LORD DU MESNIL gets the nod to make a successful start in this discipline and provide owner/jockey David Maxwell with another winner at the expense of Eva's Oskar, who could prove a tough nut to crack pitched into a hunter chase if anywhere near his best following a 15-month absence (trainer/jockey combination successful in similar event at Taunton earlier in month). Lift Me Up and Bennys King can fight out minor honours.
A few of these have plenty of back-class but also questions to answer on various counts. JEUX D'EAU could be the emerging force.

![]() Bluebell Glen |
(9) 11/1(+73%) | (9) Bluebell Glen 11/1, Showed a bit in bumpers but no impact over hurdles last season and again failed to complete on return in a 20.9f Kelso novice in December. Another who needs to improve markedly now venturing down the handicap route. Has uninspiring form-figures but positives can be drawn from her latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (13) ![]() Tread Softly Now |
40/1(+20%) | (13) Tread Softly Now 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden who looks pretty limited judged on what she's shown in 3 bumpers and as many starts over hurdles. Exponential improvement needed now tried in a handicap with first-time cheekpieces enlisted. Showed no promise in her three qualifying runs; down in trip with headgear on today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) ![]() Am Still Here |
2/1(+56%) | (10) Am Still Here 2/1, Beaten a long way in novice/handicap hurdles last season and didn't fare much better on return at Doncaster (19.4f, good). That said, he is presumably thought capable of better judged on his SP in all 3 starts since switched to handicaps. Unable to justify prominence in the betting well when beaten in all three handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() The Jeweller's Pet |
12/1(+14%) | (4) The Jeweller's Pet 12/1, In the frame twice in points but yet to trouble the judge under Rules, most recently beaten a long way on his handicap debut over 20.4f here. Always towards rear when 33-1 for recent handicap debut here (2m4f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Fathers Advice |
13/2(+54%) | (11) Fathers Advice 13/2, Runner-up 4 times in this sphere but it's hard to ignore the fact that his hurdles record stands at 0-19 and his reappearance spin over fences here a fortnight ago was underwhelming. Now tried in a visor. Didn't run badly over fences here this month but now 0-28 overall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Toucan Sam |
18/1(-80%) | (5) Toucan Sam 18/1, Modest maiden chaser who was placed 3 times in hunters/handicaps last May. By no means disgraced back hurdling following a break/wind op here a fortnight ago but whether he is able to build on that remains to be seen. Just a modest third over 2m5f here recently and now 0-21 under all codes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Mix De Gris |
10/1(-122%) | (7) Mix De Gris 10/1, Modest on the Flat and pulled up on hurdling debut at Newcastle having raced freely. Shaped better with hood applied when second to easy winner at Wetherby before again racing too freely in a Doncaster juvenile. Could have a say if settling better on this handicap bow. No threat to eased-down winner when second in a maiden but might improve in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Breadalbane Lass |
33/1(-175%) | (6) Breadalbane Lass 33/1, Telescope mare who showed ability when sixth in a Newcastle bumper in December 2023. No show 3 starts since switched to this sphere but wouldn't be a major surprise were she to show herself in a better light now handicapping. Showed no more than minor promise when a big-priced outsider for her three qualifying runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) ![]() Powerofjet |
13/2(-30%) | (3) Powerofjet 13/2, Attracted support and ran better than on handicap debut when third in 13-runner event at Sedgefield (19.8f, good to soft) last time. This drop back in trip is probably no bad thing and he's worth a second look. No match for wide-margin winner but still ran well when third at Sedgefield last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) ![]() Don't Look Back |
15/2(-25%) | (12) Don't Look Back 15/2, Winner of just one of his 13 starts on the Flat and took hurdles record to 0-19 when sixth of 19 at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft) in November. Still, that wasn't a bad effort considering that he was 15 lb 'wrong' at the weights (only 2 lb out of the handicap here) and he's not without hope. Ran well from out of the weights last time but is 0-19 over hurdles now; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) ![]() Red Ned |
18/1(-64%) | (2) Red Ned 18/1, Runner-up on the first of 2 starts in bumpers last season but has offered little in 3 starts over hurdles so far and big step forward needed now pitched into a handicap. Shaped quite well when sixth in C&D maiden this month; can improve in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() Tan Law |
20/1(-150%) | (1) Tan Law 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden who produced by far his best effort yet when third of 10 in novice hurdle at Hexham (20.1f, soft, 200/1) 24 days ago. Needs to raise his game now handicapping but that is entirely possible with this drop back in trip a potentially good move. 200-1 third in Hexham maiden last month; needs to improve again to defy top weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Away She Goes |
28/1(-180%) | (8) Away She Goes 28/1, Failed to make an impact in 2 bumpers/3 starts over hurdles for Brian Ellison last year. On the upside, she did at least show glimmers of ability first-time-out in this sphere at Hexham and improvement may well be on the way now handicapping for new connections. Left Brian Ellison after three underwhelming qualifying runs in early part of this season. |
This looks a trappy affair on paper so only a tentative vote goes to the unexposed MIX DE GRIS. Lucinda Russell's charge lost little in defeat when finishing runner-up in a first-time hood (retained) over 2m at Wetherby on his penultimate start and, making his handicap debut for his in-form stable, he looks the one to be with. Tan Law hasn't cut much ice in his qualifying runs but better can be expected now pitched into handicap company. Red Ned is also noted.
If MIX DE GRIS settles better now venturing into handicap company for the first time in this sphere he may well prove to be on a good mark. Indeed, he chased home a subsequent Grade 2 runner-up on his second start over hurdles at Wetherby in November, form which reads pretty well in the context of this race. Away She Goes is another who could take a step forward now making her way into handicap company and she is second choice ahead of Don't Look Back and Powerofjet.
A speculative option to consider is BLUEBELL GLEN, who put in a good front-running shift before tiring in a 2m5f novice last month.

1st (5) ![]() Brunel Charm |
6/1(-140%) | (5) Brunel Charm 6/1, Not scored for some time but handicap mark has fallen as a result. Shaped well on second run after wind operation when third of 12 in handicap over C&D 47 days ago and can race off same mark here. Player. Two good C&D runs since a wind op; needs a good pace at this trip and that's not assured. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() El Hibri |
7/1(+0%) | (7) El Hibri 7/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 16 runs last year. Took a step back in right direction when third here (6f) last week and is 4 lb below his last winning mark. Conditions to suit and he was a creditable 3rd here last week; each-way shout again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Prince Of Bel Lir |
2/1(+27%) | (1) Prince Of Bel Lir 2/1, Bounced back to form when taking 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 7 days ago. 4 lb penalty to carry now but must enter calculations. Drew clear with well-treated rival at Wolverhampton last week; strong claims under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Dream By Day |
25/1(+0%) | (2) Dream By Day 25/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, eleventh of 12 in handicap (40/1) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 68 days ago. Has work to do. 0-7 for current yard and well beaten on his reappearance in November; others safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Big Time Rascal |
40/1(-186%) | (4) Big Time Rascal 40/1, Step in the right direction when third of 4 in Lingfield novice 29 days ago, outclassed by front two. Has looked a bit awkward under pressure and can be slowly away, so clearly not a straightforward character. Looks to be regressing; return to handicaps may help but others have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Mccauley's Tavern |
11/4(+17%) | (6) Mccauley's Tavern 11/4, Dual course winner who returned to form when creditable second of 8 in handicap over C&D 5 days ago. 2 lb below last winning mark so merits consideration. Two C&D wins last year; solid second here last week; more appealing than many. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Scarlet Lady |
14/1(-27%) | (3) Scarlet Lady 14/1, Winner at Yarmouth in August. 13/2, eighth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 66 days ago. Others more persuasive. Easy turf win (7f) last August and now back to the same mark; quiet since than win though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Savannah Smiles |
20/1(+39%) | (8) Savannah Smiles 20/1, Four wins from 22 runs last year. Latest win at Chepstow in September. 50/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 24 days ago, not knocked about. Others preferred. Uninspiring form figures but latest run better than it looks; could go well at a price. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Voodoo Ray |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Voodoo Ray 40/1, Three wins from 11 runs last year. Last of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 7/1) 29 days ago. Hard to fancy on recent form. Five-time turf winner; dangerous mark but yet to prove as effective on AW. |
PRINCE OF BEL LIR scored a shade cosily at Wolverhampton last Monday and a quick-fire double might be on the cards. Joseph Parr's charge looks capable of defying a 4lb penalty and he's preferred to McCauley's Tavern. The five-year-old arrives on the back of C&D second and another good effort is forecast racing off an unchanged mark. Brunel Charm has been shaping as if he has a race at this level within his compass and he completes the shortlist.
BRUNEL CHARM has been given a chance by the handicapper and shaped better than bare result when third over C&D last month. He gets the nod. McCauley's Tavern and Prince of Bel Lir can also make their presence felt.
This looks a good opportunity for PRINCE OF BEL LIR (nap) to follow up last week's Wolverhampton success.

1st (1) ![]() Court Drive |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Court Drive 4/1, Below best the last twice but given a break since and has dropped to a handy mark. Warrants respect. Returns from a break at a realistic level; feasible mark and she's one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Man On A Mission |
3/1(+40%) | (4) Man On A Mission 3/1, Returned to form when taking 12-runner C&D handicap last month. Not in quite same form here latest but remains feasibly treated and must enter calculations. C&D win last month before a fair midfield effort in a higher grade; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Mighty Gurkha |
22/1(-100%) | (3) Mighty Gurkha 22/1, C&D winner. Visored for 1st time, first run since leaving Archie Watson (off 16 months) when tenth of 11 in handicap (14/1) over C&D 12 days ago. May have needed that and this run should reveal more. Has some high-class C&D form but down the field after a long absence 12 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Smasher |
16/1(-60%) | (5) Smasher 16/1, Three wins from 9 runs last year. Bit below form seventh of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 11/1) 32 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Conditions fine but he needs to bounce back from a midfield effort at Chelmsford latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Alshimali |
11/10(+37%) | (8) Alshimali 11/10, Upped his game in recent starts, latest when close second of 11 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 37 days ago. Just 1 lb higher here and is a leading contender. Runner-up in 6f handicaps the last twice; not fully exposed; one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Mond |
40/1(+20%) | (2) Mond 40/1, AW winner in France back in 2020 but now show in 4 outings for new yard since returning from a long absence. Poor form in four runs back from a long absence; new trip; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() The Smiling Wolf |
40/1(-100%) | (7) The Smiling Wolf 40/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Sixth of 8 in handicap (66/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 17 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Others more convincing. Struggled since his 2yo days but handicapped accordingly and returning to 6f can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Maith An Farhh |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Maith An Farhh 18/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, ninth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 10/1) 87 days ago. Significantly down in trip. First run for yard after leaving James Ferguson. Worth monitoring in market on yard debut. No progress for J Ferguson but down in weights and new yard quick to drop him in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Revolucion |
33/1(-65%) | (9) Revolucion 33/1, Twenty three runs since sole win in 2023. 8/1, last of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 13 days ago. Blinkers back on. 1 lb out of the handicap. Work to do. Poor strike-rate and bulk of this winter's form suggests he's vulnerable again. |
Although still a maiden after seven career outings, ALSHIMALI looks ready to open his account. Tony Carroll's charge did little wrong when filling the runner-up spot at Lingfield and Southwell last month and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to get his head in front. The downgraded Court Drive is a potential fly in the ointment racing off a career-low mark and she's feared most, ahead of dual C&D winner Man On A Mission.
ALSHIMALI was having just his third start for Tony Carroll when narrowly denied at Southwell last month and is fancied to open his account. Court Drive and Man On A Mission may provide the chief threat.
Money for The Smiling Wolf would alter the complexion of the race but as things stand ALSHIMALI is taken to record a first success.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Zu Run |
9/1(-125%) | (4) Zu Run 9/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in October. Respectable third of 11 in handicap (10/3) at Kempton (6f) 33 days ago. Unlikely that he will be far away. Not easy to predict but he ran well at Kempton latest and is not ruled out back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Port Erin |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Port Erin 4/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in December. 7/2, respectable third of 10 in handicap at this course (8.6f) 21 days ago. Needs considering off the same mark. Form figures of 213 on AW in last three runs and he's respected on this drop back to 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() H Key Lails |
5/1(-25%) | (7) H Key Lails 5/1, Course winner. 12/1, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 29 days ago. This is tougher up 4 lb but he's clearly in good nick. Record of 322231 since returned to AW in August and he's a big player again back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Showhound |
6/1(+20%) | (8) Showhound 6/1, Won 8-runner handicap (33/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 9 days ago, kept up to work. 2 lb nudge fair enough but this is more demanding. 33-1 win off reduced mark at Newcastle last time; only 2lb higher here and he's in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Berkshire Phantom |
7/2(+78%) | (1) Berkshire Phantom 7/2, Three-time C&D winner. Three wins from 12 runs last year. Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at this course (8.6f, 16/1) 31 days ago. Likely to find one or two too good. On dangerous mark and has possibilities if he gets the breaks back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() No Saint |
28/1(-75%) | (5) No Saint 28/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in November. First run since leaving Sam England when tenth of 12 in handicap (28/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 38 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Others preferred. Won twice in the autumn and had excuse back at 6f on stable debut; one to keep an eye on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Kalganov |
22/1(+12%) | (6) Kalganov 22/1, 125/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 18 days ago. Needs to bounce back but would be a threat if able to do so off this reduced mark (now 11 lb lower compared to when last successful in December 2023). On reduced mark but he's been out of sorts in last five runs and needs a big turnaround. |
Showhound has to be respected off just 2lb higher than when successful over 7f at Newcastle earlier in the month, but marginal preference is for FOOLS RUSH IN. Ruth Carr's gelding has made the frame on both starts since winning at Southwell last month and clearly remains on a workable mark. H Key Lails edges out Port Erin to be best of the rest.
PORT ERIN was well held on his first two starts for this yard but he has really found his feet since, posting solid efforts in defeat here either side of a battling success at Chelmsford. The 5-y-o remains feasibly treated and he gets the nod ahead of Zu Run, who bounced back from a couple of low-key efforts when third here three weeks ago. Fools Rush In and H Key Lails are others with appealing claims.
This is competitive but the vote goes to H KEY LAILS, who was as good as ever with his dominant display at Lingfield last time.

1st (1) ![]() Distant Rumble |
7/2(+7%) | (1) Distant Rumble 7/2, Made the frame in maidens the last twice, latest when creditable third of 9 at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) in September. Remains low mileage and may do better on handicap/polytrack debut. Promise as a 2yo; gelded prior to handicap/AW debut; should appreciate the sixth furlong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Sabrimento |
7/2(+22%) | (2) Sabrimento 7/2, 16/1, first run since leaving Brian Meehan when eleventh of 12 in nursery at Southwell (6.1f) 37 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Tongue strap on 1st time. Others more persuasive. Low-key stable debut last month; now tongue tied; improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Rage Of Thunder |
6/1(-50%) | (5) Rage Of Thunder 6/1, Offered more than on handicap debut when sixth of 9 in nursery at Chelmsford City (7f) 32 days ago. Drop back in trip may suit and he merits consideration. Often compromises his chance by pulling hard; has ability though and this is uncompetitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Dr Ali |
12/1(+25%) | (3) Dr Ali 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 17/2 and blinkered for 1st time, fifth of 8 in maidenclaimer at Navan (8.1f, good). Off 144 days. First run for yard after leaving G. M. Lyons. Worth a second look in market on yard/handicap debut. Didn't progress from a good debut run when trained by G Lyons in Ireland; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Bank On Kent |
5/2(-25%) | (8) Bank On Kent 5/2, Found some improvement when good second of 8 in nursery at Chelmsford City (5f) 32 days ago and can race off same mark here. Likely contender. Often placed, including over C&D, and looks more likely to run his race than some. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Rotation |
13/2(-8%) | (7) Rotation 13/2, Below par at Chelmsford City latest but had posted good fourth at Wolverhampton (6.1f) previously and must enter calculations. Has won a race but consistency is an issue and often spoils his chance by pulling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Rogue Endeavour |
20/1(+0%) | (6) Rogue Endeavour 20/1, 50/1, first run since leaving Alice Haynes when ninth of 11 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 25 days ago. Must improve. Hasn't progressed from a promising debut; dropping down the weights; may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Berning Hot |
40/1(-60%) | (4) Berning Hot 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving Richard Hannon when tenth of 12 in nursery (125/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 47 days ago. Dangerous if scaling a revival. No impact in two nurseries last year; down in the weights but she's not a solid option. |
DISTANT RUMBLE was far from disgraced when second over an extended 5f at Bath on his handicap debut in August and he shaped as if he was still in good heart when third off 2lb higher over that same C&D most recently. Tackling 6f for the first time off an unchanged mark, this unexposed sprinter looks the one to be with. Bank On Kent found only a subsequent winner too good over the minimum trip at Chelmsford last month and he must be of interest off the same mark, while Sabrimento also merits a second look for his top trainer/jockey combination.
The step back up in trip should suit BANK ON KENT, and he looks the safest option in a tricky-looking contest. Rage of Thunder and Distant Rumble can also make their presence felt.
Rage Of Thunder has a bigger effort in him but DISTANT RUMBLE makes his handicap debut in a winnable race and is preferred.

1st (8) ![]() Hawa Jumeirah |
4/1(+71%) | (8) Hawa Jumeirah 4/1, Fifth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (11f, 8/1) 33 days ago, doing too much too soon. Makes tapeta debut. Must improve. Market springer when fair fifth at Kempton and he still has potential; could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) ![]() This Time Maybe |
14/1(-40%) | (12) This Time Maybe 14/1, 33/1, third of 8 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Fair third over C&D last time but he's now 0-12 and needs to find something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Starfighter |
9/2(+10%) | (3) Starfighter 9/2, 3-time C&D winner. Won 9-runner handicap at this C&D (3/1) 14 days ago by ½ length from Virtual Hug. Merits consideration. Justified favouritism over C&D last time and he's only 2lb higher here; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) ![]() Walk The Moon |
6/1(+40%) | (10) Walk The Moon 6/1, Good second of 8 in handicap (22/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. Can give a good account. 20-race maiden under both codes but he was a good second over C&D last time; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Esticky End |
7/2(-17%) | (7) Esticky End 7/2, Unreliable sort. Improved on recent efforts to win 14-runner handicap (16/1) at Dundalk (12f) 31 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Won at Dundalk last month and he's unexposed at this trip; withdrawn here on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Mhajim |
17/2(+39%) | (5) Mhajim 17/2, Unreliable individual. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (12f, AW, 12/1) 7 days ago, slowly away. Has work to do. Has dropped a long way in weights and was an eyecatcher at Lingfield last week; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Virtual Hug |
10/1(-11%) | (9) Virtual Hug 10/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2024. Creditable ½-length second of 9 to Starfighter in handicap at this C&D (8/1) 14 days ago. Close second behind Starfighter over C&D two weeks ago; respected off only 1lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) ![]() Abstract |
50/1(-25%) | (11) Abstract 50/1, One win from 32 Flat runs. 7¼ lengths sixth of 9 to Starfighter in handicap (66/1) at this C&D 14 days ago, not knocked about. Just one win from 37 starts and was quiet over C&D on recent comeback; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() Max Of Stars |
8/1(-14%) | (1) Max Of Stars 8/1, Fair winning hurdler. Seventh of 9 in handicap at Catterick (15.9f, good to firm, 15/8) on Flat return, doing too much too soon. Off 167 days. Down in trip. Looks competitive on form. Still lightly raced on the Flat but she flopped last time and has a bit to prove on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) ![]() Avarice |
40/1(+0%) | (4) Avarice 40/1, C&D winner. 80/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (11f), merely passing beaten rivals. Off 6 months. Has plenty to prove after another absence and hard to know how much ability remains. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Sparkling Belle |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Sparkling Belle 33/1, 66/1, first run since leaving Jane Chapple-Hyam when sixth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 11 days ago. Up in trip. Makes tapeta debut. Others more persuasive. Lightly raced 4yo but she needs improvement on this step up to 1m4f. |
STARFIGHTER bounced back to form when successful over C&D a couple of weeks ago and a 2lb rise may not be enough to stop the veteran from following up. Virtual Hug was second on that occasion and is an obvious threat off 1lb better terms. Cases can be made for plenty of the remainder, but Walk The Moon and Mhajim are the pick of them.
ESTICKY END ended his losing run at Dundalk under this rider last month, showing none of the quirks that have held him back in the past stepped up to this longer trip, and is preferred to Max of Stars, who remains well treated in this sphere on hurdles form. Starfighter recorded a third C&D win 2 weeks ago and is another to consider.
An open race in which the vote goes to STARFIGHTER, who justified favouritism off a reduced mark over C&D last time.

1st (8) ![]() Apple's Angel |
18/1(-13%) | (8) Apple's Angel 18/1, Winner at Chelmsford City in October. Hooded for 1st time, fifth of 8 in nursery at Lingfield (6f, AW, 33/1) 20 days ago. Opposable. Hasn't built on his Chelmsford win in October; others look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Foro Romano |
16/1(+11%) | (2) Foro Romano 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, first run since leaving George Boughey when last of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 17 days ago. Hard to recommend on the back of that display. Early promise for G Boughey; hopes pinned on the return to 6f sparking something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Cosmic Force |
6/5(+60%) | (6) Cosmic Force 6/5, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, seventh of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 17 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Now switched to polytrack and tongue strap on 1st time. Capable of a bold show, provided he breaks on terms. Not looked ahead of mark in either handicap run but this isn't strong and he may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Commendation |
8/1(-78%) | (5) Commendation 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 10 in novice at Southwell (7.1f, 28/1) 22 days ago. Needs to raise improve considerably but, as a well-bred filly representing strong connections, it's by no means impossible that she'll do just that now pitched into a handicap off a lowly mark. No better than 8th in her three runs but she's bred to be useful and this is more suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Marvelously |
3/1(+75%) | (3) Marvelously 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 10 in novice (22/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 69 days ago. Blinkers enlisted for this handicap debut and needs to raise her game. Hint of ability in four runs last year; blinkers fitted for her handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Piranha Rama |
17/2(-70%) | (4) Piranha Rama 17/2, Three wins from 12 runs last year, the latest at Chelmsford in November. Respectable seventh of 12 in nursery at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 15/2) 49 days ago. Will be a threat if she puts her best foot forward. Won three times as a 2yo; not at her best at Wolverhampton latest; exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Miakoda |
12/1(-260%) | (7) Miakoda 12/1, First run since leaving Richard Hannon when sixth of 8 in handicap (6/4) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 16 days ago. Now tried in blinkers and it'll be interesting to see if he again attracts support in the ring. Capable off this mark but awkward starts are becoming a bad habit; now tried in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Jane Garfield |
12/1(-33%) | (1) Jane Garfield 12/1, Hooded for 1st time, eighth of 9 in maiden (9/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 17 days ago. Back down in trip and tongue strap on 1st time. Looks vulnerable. This trip more suitable than last time but she's looking exposed; tongue-tie now tried. |
In what looks a trappy affair on paper, the tentative vote goes to COSMIC FORCE. George Boughey's charge was last seen finishing down the field over 7f at Southwell on just his second start in a handicap 17 days ago but, back down to 6f sporting a tongue-tie for the first time, this well-bred type could open his account off 2lb lower. Miakoda was sent off a warm order when posting a disappointing effort over the minimum trip at Wolverhampton earlier this month but, now donning first-time blinkers, it will be interesting to see if his supporters return. The unexposed Commendation is the pick of the remainder.
Though COSMIC FORCE has failed to trouble the judge in his two starts since switched to the all-weather/handicap company, the suspicion remains that he's capable of better. Perhaps the addition of a tongue strap will help and he shades preference ahead of Piranha Rama, who will be a big threat if able to bounce back from a below-par effort last time. Handicap-debutante Commendation is also of interest given her pedigree and connections.
Miakoda will be a danger to all if getting away on terms but handicap debutante COMMENDATION gets the tentative vote.

1st (1) ![]() Mumayaz |
9/2(+50%) | (1) Mumayaz 9/2, Three wins from 22 runs last year. Latest win at Bath in October. 7/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 10 days ago. Back up in trip. Others more persuasive. Runner-up over C&D last month but he's not easy to predict and was laboured last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Hallowed Time |
20/1(+20%) | (6) Hallowed Time 20/1, One win from 25 Flat runs. Winner at Chester in September. Bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (18/1) 14 days ago. Four-time turf winner but he's 0-8 on AW and was well held over C&D last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Em Jay Kay |
5/1(+17%) | (5) Em Jay Kay 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. Respectable third of 10 in handicap (7/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. In the mix. Won over C&D in November and was placed back here last time; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Not Just Yet |
22/1(-83%) | (8) Not Just Yet 22/1, One win from 25 Flat runs. Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. Seventh of 10 in handicap at this C&D (11/1) 14 days ago. Record of 1-25 and he was down the field over C&D last time; others are more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Tyke |
5/2(+0%) | (4) Tyke 5/2, Very good second of 8 in handicap at this C&D (10/3) 7 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Shortlist material. Only narrowly denied when favourite over C&D last Monday; strong claims off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Professor Tickle |
10/1(-25%) | (9) Professor Tickle 10/1, 6/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago. Fair fourth over C&D last twice but was behind Tyke here last Monday; needs to find more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Beauzon |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Beauzon 16/1, 7-time C&D winner. Six wins from 21 runs last year. Latest win here in November. Seventh of 8 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 7 days ago. Seven-time C&D winner but he's been quiet here the last twice; needs to get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() That's For Sure |
25/1(+24%) | (2) That's For Sure 25/1, Blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 9 in handicap (40/1) at this C&D 13 days ago. Mark is tumbling and now drops into a Class 5 but he needs to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Gogo Yubari |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Gogo Yubari 4/1, C&D winner. Five wins from 16 runs last year. 9/2, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 4 days ago, faring best of those held up. Back up in trip. Merits consideration. In-form filly and her last win was off this mark over C&D; big player. |
TYKE was only beaten a nose into second over C&D a week ago and the five-year-old can provide his supporters with some compensation off the same mark here. Em Jay Kay also made the frame over this track and trip on his most recent outing and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Gogo Yubari completes the shortlist.
TYKE took a big step back in the right direction when headed only late on over C&D last week and can go one better off the same mark. Gogo Yubari continues to hold her form well and rates the main threat ahead of Em Jay Kay.
Top of the list is TYKE, who was only just caught here last Monday and has strong claims if he can repeat that form off the same mark.

1st (3) ![]() Arctician |
11/1(+31%) | (3) Arctician 11/1, Three-time C&D winner, the latest in October. Ninth of 11 in handicap (11/1) here 77 days ago. Profile too up-and-down for comfort. Made all for latest win in October (here) and only 3lb higher if returning in similar form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Bell Shot |
10/3(+0%) | (4) Bell Shot 10/3, Creditable fourth of 11 in handicap (4/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 29 days ago. Shortlist material off the same mark here. There's competition for the lead here and he remains high in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() King Of Ithaca |
7/2(-17%) | (6) King Of Ithaca 7/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in November. 11/4, good second of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 38 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Has form here, returns in good form and this could be run to suit his closing style. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Groovy Baby |
12/1(-50%) | (7) Groovy Baby 12/1, Below form second of 5 in novice at Newcastle (8f, 5/1) 42 days ago. Thoroughly deserves to get her head in front but, at the same time, there is an air of vulnerability about this filly. 0-9; can be keen out in front and perhaps this belated return to 7f will work. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() King David |
9/4(+10%) | (8) King David 9/4, C&D winner in September. 13/8, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 20 days ago, running on. Cheekpieces on 1st time and he should be on the premises once more. C&D winner in September and has continued to run well, going down narrowly the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Port Road |
14/1(+44%) | (1) Port Road 14/1, 40/1, first run since leaving John Butler when eighth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 20 days ago. Others preferred. Yard also saddles Arctician. Always behind on handicap/stable debut at Lingfield (7f) and best watched after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Dion Baker |
33/1(+18%) | (5) Dion Baker 33/1, Three wins from 25 runs last year. 80/1, seventh of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 20 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Often front-runs but an infrequent winner who is 0-22 on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() G'daay |
8/1(+33%) | (2) G'daay 8/1, Latest win at Lingfield in August. Respectable fifth of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 33/1) 46 days ago. 1 lb lower now and he could have a part to play. Fair latest effort at Chelmsford but he was inconsistent during 2024. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Soar Above |
18/1(-50%) | (9) Soar Above 18/1, Three-time C&D winner but has gone 23 runs since the latest of those wins here back in 2022. Bit below form eighth of 13 in handicap (5/1) at this C&D when last seen in September. Needed some driving to get involved here in September when last seen; risky. |
A winner on his penultimate start, KING OF ITHACA stayed on strongly from the rear to finish second in a steadily run affair over 7f at Southwell latest and, nudged up 1lb for that, he gets the vote to return to winning ways. Groovy Baby has finished runner-up on her last four starts over further and this step back to 7f looks an interesting move for her. King David is respected most out of the remainder.
BELL SHOT has returned to form with cheekpieces refitted the last twice, including when third over this C&D on his penultimate start. Michael Appleby's charge is ready to strike and is marginally preferred to in-form rivals King of Ithaca and King David, while G'Daay is also capable of making an impact if on-song.
There could be a strong pace to this 7f handicap and that would benefit the in-form KING OF ITHACA.

1st (7) ![]() Chartwell Jock |
10/11(+24%) | (7) Chartwell Jock 10/11, 100,000 gns yearling by Churchill. Twice-raced colt. 14/1, second of 10 in novice at Lingfield (10f, AW) 17 days ago, having run of race. Sets a clear standard. Sets the standard on his second at Lingfield and he's open to more progress; big player. |

11/2(-10%) | (3) Without Compromise 11/2, Thrice-raced gelding. Third of 9 in novice at Newcastle (8f, 20/1) 10 days ago. Getting better with each run. Has shown promise this winter including when third at Newcastle last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Universal Story |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Universal Story 12/1, Twice-raced filly. Fourth of 7 in novice at Southwell (11.1f, 10/3) 23 days ago. Looked stretched over 1m3f latest and is a possible improver back in trip; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Crackalackin |
5/2(+62%) | (8) Crackalackin 5/2, Twice-raced colt. Fourth of 9 in novice (9/1) at this course (8.6f) 13 days ago. Promising fourth here latest and this longer trip should suit; could be dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Flute D'or |
5/1(0%) | (5) Flute D'or 5/1, 15,000 gns yearling, Golden Horn filly. Dam US 8.5f (minor stakes) winner out of winning close relative of smart winner up to 1½m Crosspeace. Newcomer to note in a weak maiden. Makes her belated debut but she has a good pedigree and needs watching in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Fazen |
80/1(-220%) | (4) Fazen 80/1, Twice-raced filly. Fifth of 10 in novice at this course (7.2f, 50/1) 42 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has shown ability but this looks tough on the figures and handicaps will be more like it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Star Of Jupiter |
200/1(-400%) | (2) Star Of Jupiter 200/1, Twice-raced gelding. Fourth of 5 in novice at this C&D (50/1) 77 days ago. Well held in two runs on Tapeta during the autumn, with an RPR of 46 on both occasions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Little Mukka |
150/1(-50%) | (1) Little Mukka 150/1, Pulled hard when tailed off in bumper. Tailed off at a big price in Huntingdon bumper on recent debut; can only be watched. |
CHARTWELL JOCK took a big step forwards from his debut when filling second place over 1m2f at Lingfield last time. The son of Churchill will like have more improvement left to come and could get off the mark in this company. Without Compromise may benefit from this step up in trip and the well-bred son of Frankel should not be discounted. Others to note are Crackalackin and Flute D'or.
CHARTWELL JOCK proved no match for a useful prospect at Lingfield but this looks an excellent opportunity for him to go one better. Flute d'Or is bred to be useful and may emerge as the main threat on her belated debut.
Preference is for CHARTWELL JOCK, who sets the standard on his second at Lingfield 17 days ago and is open to more progress.

Not ruled out back down in trip. 0-8 but she ran well for a long way over 9.4f here last time; not ruled out back in trip. |

17/2(-31%) | (3) Kitaro Kich 17/2, Good second of 12 in handicap (7/2) at Chelmsford City (8f) 32 days ago, though he hung right entering last 1f. Ought to be in the shake-up in his bid for a maiden victory. 0-14 but he went very close at Chelmsford (1m) latest; big player again off 2lb higher. |

3rd (10) ![]() Marinakis |
5/4(+55%) | (10) Marinakis 5/4, Landed a gamble to open his account at Chelmsford (1m) prior to finishing a good second of 9 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 6 days ago, having the run of things but pulling clear of the remainder. Of interest again kept to this sort of trip. Won at Chelmsford 11 days ago and was runner-up on Tapeta last week; key player. |

3rd (2) ![]() Whiteley Way |

20/1(-67%) | (1) Guiteau 20/1, Course winner who ran respectably from his easing mark when fifth of 9 in handicap (11/1) at this course (7.2f) 16 days ago, keeping on. Eased further 2 lb ahead of this but does need to conclusively prove himself as effective at this sort of trip. On reduced mark but he's been well held here last twice and others are preferred. |
In a wide-open event, marginal preference is for PESSOA following his second off this mark over 7f here two weeks ago and the step back up in trip should not be a problem. Al Baahy bumped into a well-handicapped rival when runner-up over C&D last month and he should not be underestimated. Kitaro Kich, Carey Street and Marinakis are others who arrive here with strong form claims.
AL BAAHY'S strike rate tempers enthusiasm but he confirmed he's fallen to a workable mark when finishing a good second over C&D last month and he's given the narrow vote to go one place better. Marinakis and Pessoa also arrive in good heart and can also feature.
Preference is for MARINAKIS, who has really got his act together recently and is still unexposed at this trip.

1st (6) ![]() Manton Road |
1/1(+9%) | (6) Manton Road 1/1, Showed improved form when third on stable debut at Newcastle (1m) in December and much improved when first past post (before losing race in stewards' room) on account of causing interference in 1m handicap at Lingfield 7 days ago. Big shout off same mark. Demoted from first place at Lingfield last week and in off the same mark here. |

2nd (7) ![]() Invincible Love |
11/1(-38%) | (7) Invincible Love 11/1, Seventh of 10 in nursery at Southwell (7.1f, 11/1) 38 days ago, weakening inside final 1f. Needs to bounce back. Dropped out tamely at Southwell; may be found wanting unless granted a soft lead. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Missile Mac |
22/1(-175%) | (2) Missile Mac 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden who ran poorly when ninth of 10 in nursery (9/1) at Newcastle (5f) 30 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Tongue strap on 1st time and the betting can prove a useful guide. 0-6 but her penultimate effort was just about her best yet and that was over 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Paulie Two Lockers |
5/1(+69%) | (1) Paulie Two Lockers 5/1, Unreliable type. 28/1, ninth of 12 in nursery at Southwell (8.1f) 31 days ago, fading entering straight. Visor needs to have positive now in place of cheekpieces. Has a race in him, perhaps 7f is his trip and a visor replaces cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Go Steelers Go |
40/1(-60%) | (4) Go Steelers Go 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1 and hooded for 1st time, failed to come on for a recent run when tenth of 11 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 9 days ago. Improvement required. Modest five-race maiden and has stamina to prove on first run beyond 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Rumba Bay |
17/2(+47%) | (3) Rumba Bay 17/2, Hooded for 1st time, fourteenth of 16 in nursery at Gowran (7f, heavy, 40/1). Off 91 days. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving D. K. Weld. Unplaced at big prices in seven runs for Dermot Weld before being sold for 1,000gns in Oct. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Aneedah Hero |
3/1(-9%) | (5) Aneedah Hero 3/1, Saxon Warrior gelding who was again the subject of strong support and stepped up on previous efforts when fourth of 8 in handicap (5/4) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 7 days ago. Didn't look entirely straight forward then but not ruled out in any case. Didn't appear to handle the track when a beaten favourite last week at Lingfield. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Brown Gold |
200/1(-203%) | (8) Brown Gold 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tenth of 11 in nursery (125/1) at Newcastle (8f) 45 days ago. Needs to step up significantly if she's to play a part here. Huge prices when down the field in both her handicaps and she's well out of the weights. |
MANTON ROAD was first past the post, before being placed second by the stewards, when pulling well clear with the eventual winner over a mile at Lingfield recently and he gets the nod to score off the same mark. This step back in trip could help the unexposed Aneedah Hero to be seen to better effect and he looks the main danger to the selection. Missile Mac struggled over 5f at Newcastle most recently but an improved display would come as no surprise sporting a tongue-tie for the first time.
MANTON ROAD has improved upon joining Gay Kelleway, first past the post only to lose the race in the stewards' room at Lingfield (1m) 7 days ago. He can gain compensation operating from the same mark. Aneedah Hero and Missile Mac may emerge as 2 of the likelier dangers.
Manton Road is clearly handicapped to go well but ANEEDAH HERO didn't appear to handle Lingfield last week when well backed.

1st (3) ![]() Kaleidoscope Eyes |
85/40(-70%) | (3) Kaleidoscope Eyes 85/40, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 10/3) 16 days ago, doing too much too soon. Obvious claims on pick of his exploits this winter provided she settles better back up in trip. 0-10 but in the frame seven times; return to this trip may suit and looks the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Maid Of Killybegs |
10/1(-11%) | (6) Maid Of Killybegs 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, seventh of 10 in nursery at Newcastle (5f) 30 days ago, weakening final 1f. Significantly back up in trip. Hasn't shown much in four starts over a variety of trips including on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Camden Flyer |
11/2(+0%) | (2) Camden Flyer 11/2, 33/1, seventh of 11 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 9 days ago, staying on final 1f without threatening. Best efforts to date have come at around this trip and better showing anticipated. Three outings for this yard have offered little; needs a turnaround. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Diligent Madam |
11/1(+21%) | (8) Diligent Madam 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 100/1, ninth of 10 in novice at Lingfield (7f, AW) 20 days ago. Makes handicap debut and progress required. Out of the frame in three starts but did hint at ability on second outing; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Leading Star Girl |
20/1(-43%) | (4) Leading Star Girl 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Tenth of 11 in novice at this course (5.1f, 200/1) 37 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Starts handicap career off a modest mark, but needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Born Too Run |
17/2(-6%) | (7) Born Too Run 17/2, 22/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 7 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Mainly disappointing, but her third at Southwell in November would give her a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Swizzle |
15/2(+25%) | (5) Swizzle 15/2, Land Force filly. Down the field all 3 starts in maiden/novice company and blinkers now reached for on handicap debut. Another who needs monitoring in the betting for positive vibes. Starts life in handicaps off a plater's mark but needs to step up; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Jester Queen |
7/2(+56%) | (1) Jester Queen 7/2, Practical Joke filly who offered something on first of her 3 starts in AW novice events at up to 8.6f. Hood/tongue tie reached for on handicap bow and the betting can prove a useful guide. Starts handicap career at a modest level in a new headgear combination; market revealing. |
KALEIDOSCOPE EYES was too keen to do herself justice when fifth over 6f at Southwell recently, but she shaped with plenty of promise in fourth over a mile prior to that and she looks capable of landing the spoils. This step back up in trip looks a positive move for Camden Flyer and she merits a second look, while the unexposed Maid Of Killybegs can also make her presence felt.
KALIEDOSCOPE EYES overdid things on the front end but still shaped as if in good form when fifth at Southwell (6f) 16 days ago and, effective at this longer trip, she's a lead player provided she settles better. Camden Flyer may well emerge as the lead threat.
Despite being the most exposed in the field KALEIDOSCOPE EYES also has the best form and is taken to make it 11th-time lucky.

1st (2) ![]() Alafdhal |
17/2(+39%) | (2) Alafdhal 17/2, Course winner. Three wins from 26 runs last year. Seventeen runs since last win in 2024. 12/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, weakening 2f out. Bounce back called for. On dangerous mark but he's been well held the last twice and losing run is now up to 17. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() State Of Madness |
9/4(+65%) | (5) State Of Madness 9/4, 12/1, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 24 days ago, staying on having been left poorly placed. Not one to write off with his mark easing all the time. On reduced mark and he could be dangerous if he gets a good pace and some luck. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() So Obsessed |
16/1(-14%) | (1) So Obsessed 16/1, Recorded four wins from 13 runs last year but not operating at best at present, hanging badly left and ultimately eased off when 18½ lengths last of 8 to Desert Master in handicap at Southwell (5f) 5 days ago. Needs to leave that well behind. C&D winner but she's been out of sorts this winter and needs a major revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Second Collection |
15/2(-50%) | (8) Second Collection 15/2, 4-time course winner, the latest in refitted blinkers here in December. 6/1, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 2 days ago. Each-way claims again. Only 1lb higher than for her C&D win last month but was held here on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Desert Master |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Desert Master 4/1, Resumed winning ways at Southwell in December and quickly dispelled a lesser effort at Newcastle, when successful at first-named venue 5 days ago, tackled final 1f and just holding on. Escapes a weight rise for that victory and possibilities again with a repeat. Escapes a penalty for his win at Southwell last Wednesday and he's a big player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Sir Benedict |
14/1(-56%) | (6) Sir Benedict 14/1, Three wins between March and June last year and he shaped better than bare result after 7 months off when ninth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, headway when forced to switch final 1f and plugging on. Better showing anticipated. Multiple AW winner who had traffic issues here on his recent return; one to keep an eye on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Next Second |
18/1(-125%) | (9) Next Second 18/1, 4-time C&D winner who returned to form from out of the blue when second in 6-runner handicap returned to this C&D 7 days ago. Now her task is to back that up. Four-time C&D winner who went close here last Monday; big player off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Hastily |
10/3(+17%) | (7) Hastily 10/3, Latest win at Dundalk in December. 5/2, good second of 10 in handicap at this C&D 2 days ago, held up in rear and keeping on. Should give another good account. Won over 7f at Dundalk last month and was a good second over C&D on Saturday; shortlisted. |
DESERT MASTER showed a likeable attitude when scoring narrowly over this trip at Southwell recently and, in what looks a trappy affair, he gets the nod to go in again without a penalty. State Of Madness was last seen finishing fifth over 6f here last month, but he wasn't seen to best effect on that occasion and merits respect back at the minimum trip. Sir Benedict is also noteworthy.
SIR BENEDICT shaped better than the bare result after 7 months off in a C&D handicap a couple of weeks ago and, with that looking strong form for the grade, he could be worth chancing to build on that effort now. Irish-raider Hastily was a good second here on Saturday and she's a player with a repeat. Desert Master and State of Madness are others to consider.
The pick is DESERT MASTER (nap), who escapes a penalty for his front-running win at Southwell last week. Next Second is feared most.
Ths is the racecard key.
