9/2(+18%)
(7) Desert Master 9/2, Doubled career tally over C&D 2 weeks ago but disappointed turned out under a penalty when last of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 5/1) 5 days ago. Needs to quickly leave that behind.
Best to forgive latest effort; narrowly beat Street Life over C&D the time before.

Show Me Show Me

4
4/1(+27%)
(4) Show Me Show Me 4/1, Ended a long losing run under a good ride in 9-runner handicap at Newcastle (5f) 14 days ago, staying on to lead dying strides. Possibilities if arriving in same groove. Engaged 4.45 Newcastle Tuesday.
Seems best suited by Newcastle in this sphere; not the percentage call.

It's Showtime

16
16/1(0%)
(6) It's Showtime 16/1, Sole success at Lingfield (5f turf) in May. However, largely consistent subsequently and shaped as if better for the run after 8 weeks off when eleventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 28/1) 19 days ago. Not out of things just 2 lb above last winning mark.
Latest defeat took her AW record to 0-11 but this return to 5f is a plus.

Fortunate Star

1.25
5/4(+44%)
(2) Fortunate Star 5/4, Dual C&D winner. Three wins from 18 runs last year. Latest win here in November. 7/1, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 5 days ago, headed late on. Likely type returned to the minimum trip.
Clear second at Newcastle last Friday; scored twice over C&D in November; strong chance.
9
5th (9) Stone Of Destiny (20/1 -67%)
Stone Of Destiny

20
20/1(-67%)
(9) Stone Of Destiny 20/1, Untrustworthy individual. C&D winner. Bit below form 4 lengths fourth of 9 to Show Me Show Me in handicap (18/1) at Newcastle (5f) 14 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Strike rate obviously tempers enthusiasm but he's never been lower in the weights.
On a very handy mark but his very poor strike-rate since 2020 remains a drawback.
1
6th (1) Shalaa Asker (13/2 +54%)
Shalaa Asker

6.5
13/2(+54%)
(1) Shalaa Asker 13/2, Hasn't been with current yard for long, never involved when seventh of 11 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 28 days ago. Went off at a big price that day (80/1) and interesting to see if market speaks more favourably today now dropped into class 6 company.
Not crying out for return to 5f but the drop to Class 6 may offset that negative.
3
7th (3) Better (14/1 -155%)
Better

14
14/1(-155%)
(3) Better 14/1, Latest win at Newcastle (5f) in October before a very good third over C&D a month later. Disappointed back at first-named venue 5 weeks ago but no surprise to see a better showing.
Holds a fighting chance on his autumn form; Warren Fentiman takes off useful 7lb.
5
8th (5) So Obsessed (25/1 -56%)
So Obsessed

25
25/1(-56%)
(5) So Obsessed 25/1, Recorded four wins from 13 runs last year but not operating at best at present, only sixth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 9 days ago. Something to find on form.
Not in top form at present but is competitively weighted granted a resurgence.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Although Fortunate Star edged out BETTER when he dead-heated for first over this C&D in November, the latter has an 8lb pull at the weights and, with Warren Fentiman's claim added to the mix, he has a live chance of exacting revenge for that narrow defeat. Street Life and Desert Master are closely matched on recent form, with the former appealing most of that pair based on his more proven reliability.

A dual C&D winner already this winter, FORTUNATE STAR ran another solid race before the longer trip stretched him when second at Newcastle 5 days ago. He's a player turned out quickly back at the minimum trip, with Street Life and class dropping Shalaa Asker others to consider.

In-form FORTUNATE STAR (nap) holds strong claims returned to his ideal distance. Better ties in with the selection.

(7) Kobalt St Georges 12/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, sixteenth of 18 in handicap hurdle (22/1) at Limerick (16f, soft) 19 days ago. Makes chase debut.
Tailed off in a trio of handicap hurdles; needs to improve dramatically now chasing.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

HILLSDALE won easily on his recent handicap chase debut and might defy an 11lb penalty. He was rated just 102 at his peak over hurdles and while his initial chase form was ordinary, he successfully dropped to handicap company at Naas where he won easily. He competes from a career-high rating but has just turned six, so might continue to progress. Three-time hurdle winner Cheerful Chap has run well in all his four chase runs this season and while well enough held at Limerick over Christmas, is again suited by conditions and is dependable. Freddie Robdal wasn't suited by reverting to hurdles at Leopardstown over Christmas but is better over fences, with both his wins coming at this distance.

HILLSDALE finally got his act together over fences when an impressive winner at Naas and looks capable of defying an 11 lb rise. Cheerful Chap can place again with Clonshire River also respected back down in class.

Cheerful Chap and Hillsdale have a few questions to answer and that could leave the door open for FREDDIE ROBDAL to win again

(2) Dash Gordon 4/6, 4-y-o who was successful on final start for Alex French at Newcastle (5f) in October. Failed to justify support for new connections/after 3 months off when third of 11 in minor event back there 4 days ago but he may come on for that. Tongue strap on 1st time. Worth another chance.
Still an unexposed sort on AW; warrants respect on second run for shrewd new connections.

Hi Hoh Tonto

16
16/1(-220%)
(4) Hi Hoh Tonto 16/1, Unreliable sort. Seventh of 10 in handicap (2/1) at this course (6.1f) 63 days ago, weakening final 1f. Another to have switched yards ahead of this but pick of previous form for former stable gives him a shout.
Still a maiden but has possibilities returned to 5f on debut for a fourth stable.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

A winner over 5f at Newcastle in October on his penultimate start, DASH GORDON was too keen for his own good when he returned to that venue and finished third in this company on Saturday. Now with a tongue-tie added, his match-fitness topped up and Billy Loughnane booked, the four-year-old appeals most. May Remain is feared most with a first-time tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination tried, ahead of Hi Hoh Tonto.

DASH GORDON failed to justify support when third on debut for Mick Appleby at Newcastle 4 days ago, yet that was still a respectable effort on the back of a 4-month break, and he's worth another chance equipped with a tongue tie for the first time. Trulie Good, Hi Hoh Tonto and Liv Lucky may emerge as the lead threats.

Although he was a beaten favourite last Saturday, DASH GORDON looks well worth another chance. Hi Hoh Tonto is second pick.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

WEST OF CARRIG showed useful form in a similar race over Christmas and might cope better than most with dropping down to this distance. The selection showed just ordinary form over hurdles but is a three-time point-to-point winner, with his recent Limerick 2m6f form being quite strong, as prolific winner Rocky's Howya finished fourth. Milan Forth has two lengths to find with the selection on October form and while he subsequently showed good form and is just a six-year-old, has yet to race at this distance. Fountain House finished second in Punchestown's Ladies Cup last April and is noteworthy.

Multiple point winner LONESOME BOATMAN showed useful form on his chase debut/belated return to Rules when third in a hunter at Punchestown and should take the beating. West of Carrig and Fountain House are feared most.

Third behind a prolific winner in November, LONESOME BOATMAN has strong credentials based on a fine third at the Punchestown festival

With his yard in good nick, one-time Group 3 winner AIKHAL, who was rated 111 at his peak for Aidan O'Brien, could be primed to strike returning to the all-weather off a mark of just 70. The Bay Warrior, a creditable second over C&D last month, is feared most off just 2lb higher. Night Bear boasts winning course form and is also noted running for another in-form yard.

NIGHT BEAR stepped up on his comeback run when third in a handicap over shorter here 17 days ago, and he's fancied to go well again from what is a workable mark. The Bay Warrior is another in-form sort who is feared along with Harry The Haggler provided he sees out this longer trip. Path To Glory is a handicap debutante to note.

This can go to NIGHT BEAR, who has won over 1m4f here and finished a good third over the same trip here last time.

PALACIO caused a minor surprise on his hurdling debut at Chepstow before being pitched into a better race at Cheltenham last month where he finished third after setting a decent pace. Back into calmer waters, Sam Thomas' gelding has been found an ideal opportunity to continue his progression. Starcrossed Lover has to enter calculations following his Windsor success, while Renoir appears best of the remainder.

STARCROSSED LOVER made an impressive start for this yard when easily landing a Windsor novice hurdle a month ago and, with further progress on the cards, he's fancied to edge out Palacio in a race that the pair should dominate.

Granted some controlled aggression from the front, PALACIO may have too much under the bonnet for Starcrossed Lover.

Having won a point-to-point, two bumpers and a maiden hurdle, the versatile JURANCON has little to find to atone for his surprise defeat when turned over at odds-on at Exeter last month. The form of that race still reads well in the context of this event and, with a tongue-tie added, he can get back on the right path. Big Ginge and Kloth Of Utopia have also shown enough promise to make the shortlist.

Plenty of these look longer-term/handicap projects but JURANCON cemented the positive start he's made in this sphere when chasing home another promising sort at Exeter 6 weeks ago, and he rates a big player here with a first-time tongue strap fitted. Kloth of Utopia, dropped in trip following his Ascot third is the obvious danger, ahead of Big Ginge.

Rules newcomer Old Cowboy needs a second look but otherwise it looks to be between KLOTH OF UTOPIA, Jurancon and Big Ginge.

BUNTING showed smart form last year and drops markedly in class since his most recent hurdle runs. A debut French Flat winner, he won on hurdles debut in December 2023 and while outclassed in three subsequent Grade 1s, nonetheless showed good ability and will be ready on his reappearance run. He is also ideally suited by race conditions. Byker finished second in the 2023 Fred Winter Hurdle but nonetheless lacks some of the selection's ability and hasn't run since October. The selection's stablemate Got Glory was placed at the Punchestown festival last May but burst blood vessels at that course last December and fell at Leopardstown over Christmas. She should struggle to win but has place claims.

Willie Mullins-trained pair BUNTING and Got Glory stand out on form and could have this between them, with the first named appealing as the more solid proposition. Beckett Rock has a bit to find with that pair but there's the potential for further improvement from him.

If BUNTING runs anywhere close to his rating of 135 on his return to action, he will take all the beating under Paul Townend

A case can be made for a few of these so only a tentative vote goes to ANGEL OF ANTRIM. He has done nothing but improve this winter and he was impressive when coming clear of his rivals in the style of a well handicapped horse to bring up a four-timer over this trip at Wolverhampton recently. Despite a 10lb hike in the ratings, he looks the one to side with once more. Enola Grey did it well when scoring over 7f at Dunstall Park on her penultimate start and she warrants respect dropping back in trip, while Ormolulu and Lattaash are a couple of others to consider.

OUR HAVANA was strong in the betting after 7 months off and went like the best horse at the weights when runner-up at Newcastle 18 days ago, his early keenness/muddling gallop just leaving him short in the finish. He's worth siding with to confirm his mark a workable one. Course specialist Eligible arrives having landed 2 of his last 3 starts and he's feared along with the thriving Angel of Antrim. Ormolulu and Lattaash are others to consider in a competitive heat.

Lightly raced OUR HAVANA may be more settled this time and he gets the vote, ahead of Harvard Sound.

(7) Captain Boudet 10/1, Made a positive return to the fray when third of 18 in 19.5f Chepstow handicap in November and ran to a similar level when sixth of 11 at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) just under 6 weeks ago. Seems to be building up to something and the switch to fences could unlock more. Tongue tie applied.
Placed over hurdles; pointing background and could develop into a superior chaser.

(5) Golden De Coeur 9/2, Fair hurdles form and bettered his inauspicious chase debut when fourth of 9 back from a 7-month break at Windsor (20.2f, good to soft) last month. Eased 3 lb since and this dual point winner is probably capable of better in this sphere.
Second chase run was better and potentially well handicapped on his hurdle form.

(3) Moodofthemoment 3/1, Notched third success over fences when decisively seeing off 10 rivals in a 2½m Ludlow handicap 4 weeks ago. Another personal best needed up 8 lb but he's clearly thriving and another bold show may well be on the way.
Raised 8lb for winning so well at Ludlow but still commands the utmost respect.

13/8(+35%)
(1) The Good Doctor 13/8, Fairly useful hurdler who looks the part for chasing and has found just one too strong on both starts in this sphere so far, going down narrowly at Newbury (16.4f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Can make amends here upped to 2½m for the first time.
Excellent seconds in both his chases and probably ready for this extra yardage.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

THE GOOD DOCTOR has taken well to chasing with a brace of runner-up efforts at Warwick and Newbury last month and a step up in trip might help to get the six-year-old a first victory in this discipline. Moodofthemoment went up 8lb following a return to winning ways at Ludlow in decisive fashion, while Intimate is feared most of the remainder.

Cases can be made for most, but the vote goes to THE GOOD DOCTOR, who has found just one too strong on both starts over the larger obstacles so far but Ben Pauling's 6-y-o can make it third time lucky with this extra distance promising to suit. Moodofthemoment made it 3 wins from his last 4 starts when scoring at Ludlow 4 weeks ago so heads up the opposition, with Intimate taken to edge out Golden de Coeur for third.

Preference is for INTIMATE, who ran a race full of promise at Sandown and his heavy-ground Haydock run can be forgiven.

(7) Highbury Hill 40/1, Held back by inexperience when eighth in bumper at Stratford but knew more sent hurdling when 8 lengths third to Blue Moon Lady on hurdles debut over C&D 4 weeks ago. May do better still. Considered.
Staying-on, 8l third of six to Blue Moon Lady on hurdle debut at Ludlow (2m, good to soft).
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

BLUE MOON LADY might not have beaten much when she made a winning racecourse debut in a junior hurdle event at Ludlow in December. However, she went about the task in a professional enough manner to suggest she has a good chance of following up, with the fillies' allowance assisting now she takes in the boys. Fellow last-time-out winners/penalty carriers Star Of Guiting and Vorderman also warrant serious consideration.

Nicky Henderson has his string in excellent nick so his Postponed gelding LAUGHING JOHN is fancied to make a winning start in this sphere at the chief expense of Ludlow debut scorer Blue Moon Lady. Highbury Hill also has the form to play a part and appeals as the pick of the rest for minor honours.

The market moves need to be monitored closely, not least because of the presence of a Nicky Henderson-trained newcomer in LAUGHING JOHN.

KARMA D'AIRY debuts for new connections having shown nice ability in France and contests an ordinary maiden on her Irish start. Beaten by Another World at Auteuil last June and bought for 250,000 euros the following month, that rival subsequently attained a Listed-placing and today's selection will be ready for her reappearance on suitably soft ground. Twentyfourcarrot was an impressive 16-length winner of a Limerick bumper in November but was reported to have had blood at both nostrils when pulling up at that venue over Christmas. Kilbarry Ce Ce has place claims.

KARMA D'AIRY showed some fairly useful form over hurdles in France and is fancied to build on that and get off the mark now with the all-conquering Willie Mullins team. Tramore runner-up Kilbarry Ce Ce appeals as the one to chase her home ahead of Beautiful Chaos and Grainne A Chroi.

This should be a straightforward task for KARMA D'AIRY (nap) on her Irish debut. Kilbarry Ce Ce can follow her home

This may prove a good opportunity for MONSIEUR FANTAISIE to rediscover his shooting boots. He went down narrowly in second in a similar contest over C&D recently and a reproduction of that effort should suffice here. Mr Slicker has shown flashes of decent form in handicaps this winter and he could go well pitched into Classified company for the first time, while Kodebreaker was rated 7lb higher only three starts ago and he looks to hold solid claims on figures.

Several of these arrive out of sorts but that's certainly not the case for MONSIEUR FANTAISIE, who went down by just a head over C&D 11 days ago and can go one better with a repeat effort. Kodebreaker rates as an obvious danger back in grade, with Headshot and Tres Chic another couple fancied to be in the shake up.

C&D winner MONSIEUR FANTAISIE comes here at the top of his form and he is the one to beat. Headshot may be next best.

King Califet had the race presented to him on a plate when making a winning Rules debut at Newbury and he will need to have improved considerably from that performance to defy a 7lb penalty. With that in mind, BUCKNA is given the benefit of the doubt after disappointing on the same card Emma Lavelle's gelding was successful at. The five-year-old had shown a fair amount of promise at Ffos Las the time before and anything close to that makes him a big player. Johnny Boy is noted too.

BUCKNA was a bit disappointing upped in trip at Newbury last month, but he's well worth another chance based on his hurdling debut promise, a performance supported by the clock. King Califet ran out a very fortunate winner on his hurdling debut at Newbury but shaped clear second best on the day nonetheless and can be expected to improve, with Sole Solution also of firm interest.

It will be disappointing should BUCKNA not live up to his big-money transfer sooner or later. He contested a stronger race last time.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

JASMIN DE GRUGY, who recorded a hat-trick over hurdles before he made a winning chasing debut over the extended 2m4f at Southwell in November, is progressing nicely and has a good chance of adding to his tally. An 11lb higher mark demands more of the selection but he could still be hard to beat with today's longer trip a potential source of further improvement. Sound And Fury and New Order rate the chief threats on these terms.

MOULINS CLERMONT left his chase bow/belated return well behind when second over C&D 4 weeks ago and should have more to offer in this sphere. He shades the vote over the thriving Jasmin de Grugy, who improved again when making it 4 wins in a row on chase debut at Southwell. New Order is another to consider after his easy win at Warwick.

There are questions to answer, including over this trip on soft ground, but JASMIN DE GRUGY appears to bring clearly the most potential.

The market is likely to revolve around FUNICULI FUNICULA. He kept on for second on his sole start in a hurdle at Auteuil in October 2023 and has subsequently joined Willie Mullins. He is already being quoted for two of the novice hurdle races at the Cheltenham Festival. The 123-rated Addragoole looks most likely to profit if Funiculi Funicula's Irish debut doesn't go to plan. He clocked up five runner-up finishes in a row (two bumpers and three maiden hurdles) before disappointing in a novice handicap hurdle at a foggy Leopardstown over Christmas. Gordon Elliott takes the wraps off Battleoftheboyne, who is a half-brother to a Grade 3 winner over flights and he should be given a market check.

FUNICULI FUNICULA hasn't been seen for 15 months since an excellent second over hurdles at Auteuil but his new yard is adept at bringing them back from lengthy absences and he's worth a chance to improve past Addragoole, who sets the standard but is more exposed. Battleoftheboyne is a notable newcomer.

Reverting to maiden company after a handicap run at Leopardstown, ADDRAGOOLE may make his experience count over Funiculi Funicula

EVOLUIR (fourth) was only a head behind Miss Billie (third) when the pair met in a similar contest here recently and the former gets the nod to reverse that form en route to victory this time. He came from a long way back to finish with a wet sail on that occasion and, provided the cards fall more favourably here, it would be no surprise if the four-year-old wound up in the winner's enclosure. This step back up to 7f can help My Boy Jack be seen to better effect.

MY BOY JACK has bounced back to form in his 2 starts this year, only narrowly denied at this course on the first occasion, so he could be ready to return to winning ways this time around. Wrath of Hector placed in handicaps on his final 3 outings in 2024 and is respected, while Frightening is also one to note dropped in grade.

His recent strong-finishing fourth over C&D was encouraging and EVOLUIR is taken to come out best, ahead of My Boy Jack.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Having posted a good third in a competitive 14-runner affair on his handicap bow at Haydock in November, KNIGHT OF ALLEN looks ready to strike. A 3lb rise in the ratings looks workable for Jane Williams' gelding and this extra yardage looks likely to suit. Lemoncello lost little in defeat when runner-up to the classy Nemean Lion over C&D last time out and the six-year-old is feared most, ahead of Santos Blue.

KNIGHT OF ALLEN posted his best effort yet when third in a useful handicap at Haydock towards the end of November and, with the still longer trip sure to suit, he's an appealing candidate to notch a second career success. Santos Blue is a likeable type who should be all the better for his reappearance, while Jour d'Evasion is well worth another try at this trip given how he shaped at Wincanton.

A good handicap but the one they all have to beat is KNIGHT OF ALLEN (nap) who held his own in a strong race on handicap debut.

Now that the penny has dropped for LIGHTNINGUPOURDAYS after a comfortable success on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter, he looks more than capable of following up off 5lb higher. A promising second at Uttoxeter on his first run in 530 days when making his debut for new connections in October, Norn Iron looks a leading contender as he makes his own handicap bow. Bucephalus and Knight Templar are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

Lots with chances so at the likely odds it is worth siding with Nigel Twiston-Davies' new recruit DANCING IN BRAZIL to capitalise on a handy mark and make a winning return. Harry Derham's lightly-raced Norn Iron looks to have better days ahead now handicapping and rates a big danger, while Bucephalus, Lightningupourdays and Knight Templar need factoring in too. Thererisnodoubt completes the shortlist.

Preference is for the two handicap newcomers at the bottom of the card, with preference for the juvenile KNIGHT TEMPLAR.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

ROBINDEVIDASTAR was tough off the front in Punchestown two months ago. He has previous placed form in Clonmel and Tiernan Power Roche's 7lb claim should keep him competitive in this grade. Falcon Park was a ready winner of an opportunity handicap hurdle in Punchestown which makes him dangerous, especially as Niall Prendergast can utilise his full 7lb claim in this race. Moudan's second run in a handicap brought about significant improvement as he finished a close fourth at Tipperary and that form has been franked. Barbaha Queen has been off for more than six months but didn't run badly when last seen in Sligo, while My Good Pal is a possible improver on his second start for Gavin Cromwell.

NO BIG DEAL has shaped better than the result on multiple occasions over hurdles and is still unexposed so, on the back of an eye-catching return, he's worth chancing if the market vibes are positive. Last-time-out winners Robindevidastar and Falcon Park are both dangers.

A hopeful vote goes to MY GOOD PAL who showed improvement at Tipperary on his stable debut and may reverse form with Moudan

SUNSHINE SOUL did little wrong when finishing a close-up fourth in a competitive class 5 fillies' novice over 5f here in August and a return to 6f on her reappearance looks a positive move. George Boughey's charge should put her experience to good use and she's taken to open her account. Newcomer Diamont Katie, a half-sister to three-time winner Forefront, is a potential fly in the ointment and market support must be noted. Suzuka looks the pick of the remainder.

SUZUKA shaped well from a poor position when fourth here on debut and she should have benefited from the experience, so she gets the nod over Diamont Katie, who looks an interesting newcomer on paper for a top yard. Sunshine Soul has the best form but is potentially vulnerable with her level already established.

Form choice SUNSHINE SOUL is taken to get off the mark. Suzuka and Diamont Katie complete the shortlist.

I Shut That D'or arrives in fine fettle having regained the winning thread at Plumpton last month and he must enter calculations. However, a 6lb rise in the ratings does demand more of Joe Tizzard's charge and ANOTHER FOLLY is slightly more appealing. The six-year-old has performed with credit on all three starts over fences this season and a reproduction of his latest second at Wincanton might be good enough. Zestful Hope is also noted.

BOBBI'S BEAUTY stepped forward from her return when scoring in good style at Lingfield in December and, after only 4 starts in chases, she can build on that effort to follow up. Another Folly has shown promise over fences this season and is respected, with I Shut That d'Or also in the mix.

The improving BOBBI'S BEAUTY was authoratitive at Lingfield in making it 2-4 over fences and she can deal with an 8lb rise.

Hat-trick in handicap chases; latest performance puts her in serious contention for this.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

The Nicky Henderson stable can do little wrong at present and this appeals as a perfect opportunity for FANTASTIC LADY to regain the winning thread after a promising second over shorter at Doncaster last time out. Going back up in trip should suit, and she is preferred to the capable Apple Away and Lady Balko, who is upped in grade as she goes in search of a four-timer.

DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW has been fast tracked to listed company after proving to be an absolute natural on her first go over fences at Exeter last month and she can justify her connections' confidence. The thriving Lady Balko is feared most in what looks a competitive event despite the small field.

Apple Away's rather lacklustre show in November may hand the initiative to LADY BALKO who has been transformed over fences.

DOYEN FOR A DRINK departed at the penultimate flight when travelling well in the lead at Limerick last month. She encounters similar trip and ground, so should be heavily involved. Coffeys Forge has been out of form but has joined Gordon Elliott, who is well able to reinvigorate new recruits. Peter Smithers takes 7lb off top-weight Elusive Guy's back and his sixth in a slightly better class of race at Limerick over Christmas gives him a chance. Mount Shenshan drops back in trip after a fourth-placed effort at Ballinrobe in the summer and she isn't out of it on her handicap debut.

DOYEN FOR A DRINK was in the process of showing improved form when falling 2 out at Limerick 19 days ago (going best at the time) and she's fancied to confirm the promise of that run and double her career tally. Mount Shenshan has improved gradually and could yet have more to offer now handicapping. Coffeys Forge on debut for Gordon Elliott and Donegal Danny complete the shortlist.

DOYEN FOR A DRINK probably would have won at Limerick last month but for a fall two from home and she can gain compensation

The hat-trick seeking Bomb Squad warrants respect after scoring at Wolverhampton and at this track within the past month. A 2lb rise for the seven-year-old's latest C&D triumph looks surmountable, but BELLAGIO MAN is slightly more compelling. Antony Brittain's charge arrives on the back of a solid second at Newcastle a fortnight ago and he may prove to be the better handicapped of the pair off just 1lb higher. Rusheen Boy and Yoshimi are also worth a closer look.

BOMB SQUAD has struck up a good partnership with Cieren Fallon lately and had more in hand than the bare result when scoring narrowly over C&D last time, so he's worth a chance to complete the hat-trick at the possible expense of Bellagio Man, who also arrives at the top of his game. Rusheen Boy is another one worthy of respect.

The return to Southwell swings the vote in favour of RUSHEEN BOY, ahead of hat-trick seeker Bomb Squad.

DOUBLE DRAGON built on his fourth-placed handicap debut effort at Wincanton when finishing second at that same course on Boxing Day. A 2lb higher mark may prove inconsequential for Anthony Honeyball's five-year-old, with Chad Bament's 10lb claim in the plate a big positive. The biggest threat is last-time-out winner Chief Sunday, while Thankyourluckystar could go well from the front dropping in trip.

DOUBLE DRAGON returned in top form when second in a 15-runner contest at Wincanton in December and, with a conditional taking off a useful 10 lb, he's worth a chance to go one better at the possible expense of Chief Sunday, who was successful at Market Rasen last time. Thankyourluckystar should benefit from the drop back in trip, so he's another to consider.

A chance is taken on LANESBOROUGH, who was placed in points and his qualifying runs haven't been devoid of promise.

KEABLE got off the mark in impressive fashion at Exeter earlier in the month, and an 11lb hike for that success may not be enough to prevent him from landing the double over further. A determined winner last time out over 2m4f at Wincanton, Prophesea can follow him home, while narrow Doncaster second Phillapa Sue and Job, who largely made all when scoring at Southwell most recently, are also respected.

An intriguing finale with the narrow vote in favour of low-mileage 6-y-o GETURGUCCION. Alan King's mare makes a quick switch to handicaps having finished runner-up both starts in this sphere to date and appeals as being potentially well treated now her stamina is tested further. Last-time-out winners Keable, Job and Prophesea head up the dangers in that order.

Keable deserves plenty of enthusiasm but PROPHESEA (nap) may well find the improvement he needs with today's step up in trip.

An eye-catcher on his first run for new connections when slowly away and running on late for fourth at Wolverhampton last month, COLLUSION is open to improvement and he may be able to break the maiden tag at the seventh time of asking. Not beaten far when third over C&D in October, Don't Fight It is a key player, as well as Under Curfew, who is capable on his day.

It could be worth chancing MCCAULEY'S TAVERN, who goes well around here and has now dipped below his last winning mark. Collusion made a decent start for this yard when fourth at Wolverhampton and is next best ahead of Big Bard.

Tapeta does not appear to suit MCCAULEY'S TAVERN and this two-time C&D winner earns the vote now back here.

CRESSIDA WILDES may have gone closer at Newcastle last time out if not for an awkward start. Going back up in trip looks like a good move for the daughter of Showcasing and she is narrowly preferred to Cherry Cobbler, who was a promising third over 1m here on debut last month. Coul Angel had Invincible Melody (fourth) behind when third at Southwell most recently and both are likely to enter the reckoning.

CRESSIDA WILDES sets a decent standard back in a novice and this looks a good opportunity for her to finally break her duck. Cherry Cobbler showed speed when third on her debut over 1m here 5 weeks ago and improvement can be expected down in trip, while Pinmoney has a nice pedigree and is a newcomer to note.

Preference is for CHERRY COBBLER, who has a speedy pedigree and travelled well when third over 1m here on last month's debut.

Hailing from a family that trainer William Haggas has had success with, PURPLE RAINBOW made a perfectly respectable start to her career when beaten only a length on debut at Wolverhampton over 7f last month. Stepping up in trip should bring about improvement and she may have too much for Arabian Leopard, who was promising fourth over shorter here on her most recent outing. Less than two lengths behind her in that contest was Mehmas Shy Angel (seventh), who since showed plenty of promise when finishing placed at Wolverhampton.

ARABIAN LEOPARD again showed promise 4 months on from her debut when fourth here 6 weeks ago and she gets the nod in an ordinary maiden. Purple Rainbow made a decent start to her career when second at Wolverhampton and is an obvious threat along with form-pick Mehmas Shy Angel.

The eye is drawn to Purple Rainbow but ARABIAN LEOPARD, who has achieved more in RPR terms, could be too speedy for her.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content,

ONLY ONE BLUE shaped with plenty of promise to finish second on her debut at Southwell last month. Richard Hannon's three-year-old could have any amount of improvement to come and can go one better. Mystery Of Love improved on her debut eighth to make the frame over 7f at Southwell last time and she will appreciate this step up in trip. Any market confidence behind newcomer Lady Odette would be interesting too.

AZANIYA and Only One Blue are closely matched on their Southwell meeting and can come to the fore, with Azaniya fancied to come out on top having looked unlucky not to finish a bit closer there. The three newcomers, Lady Odette, I'll Give It A Go and Selenic, are all interesting.

Moving up to 1m could make enough of a difference to see MYSTERY OF LOVE get off the mark.

Cherry King has run with credit by producing a pair of seconds, despite failing to justify favouritism on each of his last two starts in classified stakes, and has to be respected now that he steps back into the handicap ranks. However, the vote goes to UNITED FORCE, who struck in this grade at Southwell last month and the handicapper might have been kind to only put him up 3lb. With a repeat of that display, he will prove hard to beat. Bo Taifan completes the shortlist.

Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and this could go the way of BO TAIFAN who posted a good recent third at Chelmsford City and can race off the same mark here (form been franked). United Force is feared most on the back of his Southwell success with Cherry King and Morindoo also in the mix.

He's been running well in defeat behind horses who have been enjoying purple patches so BO TAIFAN (nap) is the pick.

Midsummer Music got her head in front for the first time over track and trip last month and will be looking to back up that success off 3lb higher. However, with that form not working out, PREFER THE SISTER gets the nod. Matt Crawley's five-year-old outran big odds to score in ready style over 7f here last time and this step back up in distance shouldn't pose her any problems. She can record a double, while last-time-out C&D scorer Help Me Rhonda is another to note.

HELP ME RHONDA gave off good vibrations when opening her account for James Fanshawe over C&D last time and with that form working out well she can make light of a 2 lb weights rise and follow up. Prefer The Sister heads the dangers on the back of her recent course victory, although Midsummer Music, Next Trick and Top Of The Class can also have a say.

None of these are bombproof but NEXT TRICK, starting out for Archie Watson, looks worth chancing.

Could play a major role on handicap debut, especially if he's strong in the betting.

In what looks a trappy affair on paper, a tentative vote goes to SWEET FANTASTIC. He has been knocking on the door and now gets first-time cheekpieces and Hollie Doyle in the saddle. Choreographic shaped with promise when third behind two useful types in a Southwell handicap recently and she is not dismissed off 1lb lower. George Boughey's inmates can often find chunks of improvement for a switch to handicapping, and his Bad Habits must be monitored in the market.

This is wide open so it could be worth siding with John Butler's AZOOZI to take a sizeable step forward on his handicap bow and get off the mark. The handily-weighted Sweet Fantastic is next on the list and rates a big threat with Panama Black, Mini Mac and Choreographic also well in the mix.

Top of the list is the George Boughey-trained BAD HABITS, who goes handicapping in first-time cheekpieces having been gelded.

His dam stayed this far but moving up from 7f to 1m4f in one hit isn't an obvious move.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

ROSCO ROGERS didn't cut much ice in his three qualifying runs, but he lost little in defeat when going down narrowly in second on his handicap debut over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last month. Stepping up in trip off 2lb higher, he gets the vote to atone for that near-miss. This step up in trip coupled with the application of cheekpieces could see No Release go well, and he is respected most out of the remainder, while Abstract Art is another for the shortlist.

A few offer potential to improve here, not least James Owen's GRAY RAINBOW who is bred to be well suited by this first go over 1m4f and can get off the mark. Fellow handicap debutant Gemmari also has better days ahead of him and rates the main danger, although Rosco Rogers, Bruce Banner and Abstract Art merit consideration too.

This could rest between handicap newcomers GEMMARI and Gray Rainbow. Gemmari can provide dam Gravitation with yet another winner.
