1st (3) (5/1 -43%) Quilixios |
5/1(-43%) | (3) Quilixios 5/1, Smart hurdler (Triumph Hurdle winner in 2021). Winless in 4 starts last term but made it first time lucky over fences at Limerick (19f) in October. 3m likely stretched him in Punchestown Grade 2 the following month and better expected here. Winning start to his chasing career at Limerick before running no race at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (16/5 -16%) Sa Fureur |
16/5(-16%) | (4) Sa Fureur 16/5, Useful winner at 21f over hurdles. Fell on reappearance/chase debut (in process of running well) and off the mark in fortuitous fashion at Fairyhouse (16.5f) 4 weeks ago, held when left clear last. In good hands and he may yet do better in this sphere. Left clear by the final fence fall of odds-on favourite Hunters Yarn at Fairyhouse latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/15 +27%) Mister Policeman |
8/15(+27%) | (2) Mister Policeman 8/15, Smart ex-French hurdler who impressed when landing Cork novice hurdle in April and marked himself down as an exciting prospect when narrowly defeating stablemate on chase debut at Fairyhouse in November. Big player with prospect of plenty more to come. Looks capable of considerable improvement from Fairyhouse and looks the one to beat here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (20/1 -43%) Aslukwoodhavit |
20/1(-43%) | (1) Aslukwoodhavit 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler who showed improved form to make winning return/novice chase debut at Punchestown (15.6f) 57 days ago, jumping fine and winning readily under hand riding. More to come in this sphere for all this rates tougher. Readily landed a beginners chase at Punchestown in November; could go close here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (250/1 -67%) One Of Us Is Lying |
250/1(-67%) | (5) One Of Us Is Lying 250/1, Modest hurdler. 200/1, fell in novice chase at Down Royal (20f, soft) 17 days ago. Hard to make any sort of case for. 88-rated hurdler has failed to complete in both chases; totally out of his depth. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MISTER POLICEMAN is held in high regard by connections and can maintain his unbeaten Irish record. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding won over hurdles at Cork last term and again beat a stablemate when making a successful chasing debut on his return over this trip at Fairyhouse. Quilixios was a smart juvenile, winning the Triumph Hurdle, and overcame a lengthy layoff when making a successful switch to fences at Limerick in October. The step up to three miles the following month didn't suit, and riding arrangements suggest he's preferred to Aslukwoodhavit who got his chasing career off to a winning start at Punchestown. Sa Fureur completed a hat-trick over hurdles last season when taking a Thurles Grade 3 but was very fortunate to score over fences at Fairyhouse last month.
Displaying smart form on his sole start over hurdles for Willie Mullins, MISTER POLICEMAN overcame a scare when scoring narrowly on chase debut at Fairyhouse 49 days ago and, with the prospect of plenty more to come from the 6-y-o, he can land this ahead of bigger targets. Sa Fureur and Quilixios are the lead threats.
The one to be on should be MISTER POLICEMAN, unbeaten in two Irish starts and capable of much better than his Fairyhouse chase debut

1st (4) (15/8 +37%) Pilsdon Pen |
15/8(+37%) | (4) Pilsdon Pen 15/8, Likeable, three-time hurdles winner who is steadily progressive over fences, off the mark over C&D in November prior to a good second back here 24 days ago, no extra late on having made up plenty of ground. Should continue to hold his own. Found plenty when C&D winner on 2nd chase start; runner-up to one with potential since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -33%) Bourbali |
3/1(-33%) | (1) Bourbali 3/1, Fairly useful hurdles winner who was easily excused his return/chase debut run (saddle slipped) and he jumped accurately when seeing off sole rival at Kempton (18f) in November. Useful form despite finishing last of 4 in Grade 2 back there since and claims now handicapping in this sphere. Useful hurdler; has taken well to fences; open to improvement returned to 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/4 +21%) Heros |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Heros 11/4, Bumper/hurdles winner in France who has hit the ground running over fences this winter, landing back-to-back Taunton handicaps at 18f. Didn't see things out back up at 20f when third at Aintree on Boxing Day but revised mark doesn't look insurmountable if he can leave that behind. Won first 2 chases at 2m2f; stamina seemed to give out over 2m4f on soft at Aintree since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 -25%) Romancero Le Dun |
15/2(-25%) | (5) Romancero Le Dun 15/2, Quickly made up into a fairly useful winner over hurdles last term. Has the physique for chasing but produced a lacklustre display following wind surgery/equipped with a tongue strap when well-beaten fourth on debut over fences at Chepstow (2m) in November. Too soon to write off, however. Won two juvenile hurdles, including on soft; low-key chase debut at Chepstow; new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (7/1 -100%) Western Zephyr |
7/1(-100%) | (2) Western Zephyr 7/1, Point/bumper winner who won 3 of his 6 starts over hurdles last season. Sound start when hitting frame first 2 starts over fences and best excused latest run when tailed-off at Hereford in December (reportedly bled). Type to bounce back. Raced at about 2m under rules; two good chase runs this winter; bled from the nose latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BOURBALI wasn't beaten far in the Grade 2 Wayward Lad at Kempton last month and the seven-year-old is fancied to regain the winning thread pitched back into handicap company. Pilsdon Pen posted a fair second over C&D on his latest outing and he should mount another bold bid off the same mark. Jeremy Scott's charge is feared most, ahead of Romancero Le Dun, who should have learned plenty from his chase bow when fourth at Chepstow in November.
A winner of a match on his penultimate outing, BOURBALI acquitted himself with plenty of credit despite finishing last of 4 in Grade 2 company back at Kempton over Christmas and, now handicapping in this sphere, he earns the vote to resume winning ways. C&D winner Pilsdon Pen is a likeable type and should give another good account, whilst Heros is also a threat if shrugging off a lesser run at Aintree on Boxing Day.
Three of these have something to prove after their latest runs and BOURBALI, highly tried at Kempton, is preferred to Pilsdon Pen.

1st (8) (9/1 +82%) Captain Potter |
9/1(+82%) | (8) Captain Potter 9/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) for Mark Walford. Remote fourth on the back of a wind op in juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen on his hurdling bow a month ago. Flat maiden who was well beaten at 40-1 on last month's hurdle debut at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (Evens +50%) Golden De Coeur |
Evens(+50%) | (3) Golden De Coeur Evens, Fair but winless in bumpers (Ireland) but successful in a couple of points last year and placed both starts over hurdles for this yard at Ffos Las. Sets the standard. Placed at Ffos Las on first two hurdle starts; sets a good standard for the rest to aim at. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (20/1 +39%) Final Edgar |
20/1(+39%) | (1) Final Edgar 20/1, Mid-field both starts in bumpers for Roger McGrath in Ireland during the summer, looking slightly ungainly in the process. Showed some ability in Ireland (bumper/point) but improvement needed on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -33%) Jake Stevens |
8/1(-33%) | (4) Jake Stevens 8/1, Failed to threaten both starts between the flags but was still in touch when falling 3 out on hurdles debut here over 16.8f and he found only one too good over the same C&D 19 days later. 2m1f second here last time; others have stronger form but this longer trip can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (40/1 -60%) No I Didn't |
40/1(-60%) | (7) No I Didn't 40/1, FIrst foal, dam (c118/h118) 2m-25f hurdle/chase winner. Makes debut with yard going well but against rivals who have already shown lots of promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (33/1 +0%) Tanking Along |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Tanking Along 33/1, €7,000 3-y-o: third foal: brother to useful hurdler Eabha Grace (21f/2¾m winner): dam (h131), 2m-2¾m hurdle winner, half-sister to very smart hurdler/high-class chaser (2¼m-21f winner) Bob Olinger. Potential in pedigree; check betting on debut but Jake Stevens may be yard's chief hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (7/4 +13%) Get A Superstar |
7/4(+13%) | (2) Get A Superstar 7/4, Getaway gelding who showed ability on bumper debut at Tipperary back in the spring and made second start for current yard a winning one at Newcastle last month, idling but always holding on. That's a good platform for hurdling. Bumper winner who is bred to be suited by the step up in trip on hurdle debut; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (250/1 -150%) Miss Raindrop |
250/1(-150%) | (9) Miss Raindrop 250/1, Poor maiden handicapper on Flat (stays 1¾m). Didn't take to hurdling at the first attempt a fortnight ago. Poor maiden on the Flat and tailed off at 200-1 on hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GOLDEN DE COEUR posted another valiant effort in defeat when third at Ffos Las last month and a similar bid may suffice in what looks a slightly weaker affair. Get A Superstar makes his hurdles debut after scoring in a Newcastle bumper on his most recent outing and the six-year-old is feared most, ahead of One More Stroke, who offered something to work with on his Rules debut at Musselburgh.
Having finished runner-up in a brace of points, ONE MORE STROKE shaped with lots of promise when occupying the same spot in a bumper at Musselburgh 3 weeks ago. Sure to be well prepared for this hurdles debut, he's selected in favour of Golden de Coeur and Get A Superstar.
Two-time point winner GOLDEN DE COEUR has run well to be placed on his first two hurdle starts and is taken to come out on top.

1st (3) (16/1 -33%) Pats Choice |
16/1(-33%) | (3) Pats Choice 16/1, Latest win in chase at Galway in October. Bit below form when seventh of 12 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (17f, soft, 8/1) 41 days ago. Two wins in the first half of the season, below best on his last two starts, visored now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (18/1 -29%) Itwasfate |
18/1(-29%) | (12) Itwasfate 18/1, 14/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, running well, fell in handicap chase at Thurles (18.3f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Can make presence felt if none the worse. Fair placed form last August, up against it now following poor a couple of below-par runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -33%) Union Park |
16/1(-33%) | (7) Union Park 16/1, Capitalised on a lower hurdles mark in 12-runner handicap (12/1) at Cork (20f, heavy) 47 days ago. Back chasing now. Won off his lower hurdles mark at Cork, could go well for stable having a fine season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/2 +0%) Snake Oil |
7/2(+0%) | (5) Snake Oil 7/2, Fairly useful winner at 20f over hurdles. Very good third of 10 in handicap chase (6/1) at Leopardstown (17f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Merits consideration. Ran encouragingly when a staying-on third over 2m1f at Leopardstown, should be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (8/1 +0%) Midnight It Is |
8/1(+0%) | (11) Midnight It Is 8/1, Latest win in chase at Clonmel in October. Respectable third of 7 in handicap chase at Clonmel (17.9f, heavy, 9/2) 36 days ago. Trip should suit judging by Clonmel win three starts ago, rider claims a useful 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/1 +8%) Bythesametoken |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Bythesametoken 11/1, Latest win in chase at Killarney in October. 7/1, second of 4 in handicap chase at Haydock (16.3f, heavy) 20 days ago. Can give another good account. Largely dependable sort in 2023, had valid excuse at Haydock when lost his right-hind shoe. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 -50%) Happy Dreams |
12/1(-50%) | (8) Happy Dreams 12/1, Course winner. Career best when winning 12-runner handicap chase (13/2) at Limerick (19.4f, heavy) 15 days ago. Hit with a 9 lb rise. Won a valuable Limerick contest on latest, 2m probably inadequate even at this stiff track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (4/1 +38%) Genois |
4/1(+38%) | (2) Genois 4/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable third of 11 in handicap chase (5/1) at Navan (20.4f, heavy) 34 days ago. Down in trip. Tendency to make mistakes is a source of concern, could be hard to beat with a clear round. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (20/1 -25%) Walnut Beach |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Walnut Beach 20/1, 28/1, respectable fifth of 10 in maiden chase at Thurles (18.4f, good to soft) 43 days ago. Makes handicap chase debut. Faced a tough task in a beginners' chase at Thurles, this offers him a realistic chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (10) (10/1 -25%) Invictus Machin |
10/1(-25%) | (10) Invictus Machin 10/1, Fairly useful winner at 17f over hurdles. 80/1, seventh of 10 in maiden chase at Fairyhouse (16.5f, heavy) 49 days ago. Remains capable of better now heading into handicaps. Hard to make a strong case for him, but feasible that he may feature on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (25/1 -25%) Good Time Jonny |
25/1(-25%) | (1) Good Time Jonny 25/1, In top form in valuable handicap hurdles at the big festivals during the spring, winning Pertemps Final at Cheltenham in March. However, he again failed to shine over fences when well held at Fairyhouse on his reappearance 41 days ago. Back down in trip for handicap chase debut. Last season's Pertemps Final winner, may be well enough handicapped, trip seems too short. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (9/2 +18%) Verdant Place |
9/2(+18%) | (9) Verdant Place 9/2, Fairly useful winner at 24f over hurdles. Sixth of 12 in maiden chase (66/1) at Navan (17f, heavy) 55 days ago. Makes handicap debut in this sphere. Best hurdles form at up to 2m7f, not much yet over fences but may find his level now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SNAKE OIL is obviously not the easiest to train with very few miles on the clock, but the Fairyhouse maiden hurdle winner advertised his claims when tackling handicap company over fences for the first time at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. The Westerner gelding kept on well in third behind The Folkes Tiara and remains on a competitive mark. Happy Dreams took the valuable Tim Duggan Handicap Chase at Limerick over Christmas but has been raised 9lb and may not be suited by this drop back in trip. Verdant Place was a progressive sort in handicap hurdles last season but is another that may find this trip a bit sharp on his first start in a handicap chase. Bythesametoken is a consistent sort while others for the shortlist include Midnight It Is and Union Park.
SNAKE OIL matched his hurdles form contesting his first handicap in this sphere when third at Leopardstown 17 days ago and, with the performance backed up by the timefigure, he makes plenty of appeal from only 1 lb higher. Bythesametoken and Invictus Machin head the opposition.
Barry Connell has been patient with SNAKE OIL who may have derived enough benefit from his handicap debut at Leopardstown to win here

1st (4) (9/4 +44%) Bitsnbuckles |
9/4(+44%) | (4) Bitsnbuckles 9/4, Looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind, not knocked about turned out quickly at Market Rasen 6 weeks ago. This longer trip will suit and interesting if the market speaks in his favour. May well improve now qualified for handicaps; looks quite interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (5/1 +29%) Sailed Away |
5/1(+29%) | (10) Sailed Away 5/1, Promising second on 2m Fakenham handicap debut and reappearance but has performed no more than respectably in his 2 outings since. Fairly consistent since handicapping for new yard; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4/1 -100%) Naturally High |
4/1(-100%) | (6) Naturally High 4/1, Dual handicap winner in 2021. Struggled on his next 4 outings but bounced back to form with a bang when dead-heating at Fontwell on Boxing Day, joined on the line after wandering around off the bridle. Retains plenty of handicapping scope after a 3 lb rise. Dead-heated at Fontwell on Boxing Day; remains well treated on peak form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/2 -44%) R S Ambush |
13/2(-44%) | (1) R S Ambush 13/2, Fair maiden hurdler who showed he can be very competitive in handicaps when second of 8 over 19f at Carlisle (soft) last month. Should be in the mix again if showing up in similar form. Ran well upped to 2m3f at Carlisle last time; still unexposed; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (16/1 -14%) Lifetime Legend |
16/1(-14%) | (8) Lifetime Legend 16/1, Built on early promise to break his duck in 19f female jockeys' event at Catterick in February. Has dropped below that winning mark but hasn't really been showing enough to suggest he's ready to take advantage. Record is only 1-28; latest effort doesn't augur well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (9/2 -13%) Celtic Fortune |
9/2(-13%) | (5) Celtic Fortune 9/2, Third in handicap hurdles on all 3 outings this season, including here. Threatened even more with the way he travelled over 20.5f at Market Rasen last time and this slightly shorter trip could suit. Considered. Has found some consistency this season and should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (33/1 -136%) Cloudy Wednesday |
33/1(-136%) | (12) Cloudy Wednesday 33/1, Won handicap chases at Fakenham and this venue in the first half of 2023. Not seen since a creditable third back at Fakenham in June so peak fitness has to be taken on trust on this return to hurdles. All wins in good-ground races over fences; this scenario isn't ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 -20%) Icarat |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Icarat 12/1, Fair form in French bumpers for Nick Littmoden but yet to make a significant impact over hurdles. Attracted market support on last month's Bangor handicap debut after wind surgery but weakened into a remote sixth. Too soon to write off but can't be supported with confidence. Disappointing on reappearance but should be capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (50/1 -100%) Sallyann |
50/1(-100%) | (11) Sallyann 50/1, Completed for the first time in handicaps when fifth of 11 on Wincanton reappearance last month. Entitled to strip fitter for the outing but others are still more convincing. Needs to improve on her reappearance effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (28/1 +15%) Lucky So And So |
28/1(+15%) | (2) Lucky So And So 28/1, Promise in 3 novice hurdles at the start of 2022 but pulled up in all 3 handicaps since. Has lots to prove at present. Has achieved nothing in two staying handicaps back under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -506%) Equus Millar |
200/1(-506%) | (9) Equus Millar 200/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2020 and not seen since finishing down the field at Ludlow 14 months ago. Can only be watched. Absent for 14 months; best watched on return to action. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
R S AMBUSH took a nice step forward on only his second handicap start to fill the runner-up spot at Carlisle last month and he was put up 3lb for that effort. The five-year-old could have more to offer and has Luke Scott's 3lb claim aids his cause further. Naturally High was joined on the line to dead-heat for first place at Fontwell last time and is likely to have his supporters off a 3lb higher rating, while Celtic Fortune is in solid form and completes the shortlist.
Although there are doubts about CELTIC FORTUNE's application off the bridle the way he travels suggests he can win off this sort of mark and he's given one more chance now dropping slightly in trip. Naturally High surely would have won outright but for wandering around in the closing stages at Fontwell on Boxing Day and remains well treated on old form so he's second choice. Bitsnbuckles is a potential improver in handicaps and also makes the shortlist along with R S Ambush.
Unexposed R S AMBUSH is taken to build on his Carlisle effort and go one better. Naturally High is feared most.

1st (2) (11/2 +27%) Ilanz |
11/2(+27%) | (2) Ilanz 11/2, Bumper winner who bagged back-to-back handicap hurdle victories (at up to 19f) in late-2022 and placed on his first 2 starts last year. Remains 10 lb above his last winning mark but he's likely to go well if fully tuned up after 11 months off. On the premises if he resumes in good form after 11 months off. |

2nd (11) (8/1 +50%) Idefix De Ciergues |
8/1(+50%) | (11) Idefix De Ciergues 8/1, Runner-up sole start in points. Shaped like a stayer in bumpers last winter and again when third in a couple of maiden hurdles this season. Failed to improve switched to a handicap at Ascot last time, though. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Produced a lesser show when he tried 2m7f at Ascot on handicap debut; now has headgear. |

3rd (6) (11/1 +8%) Great Ocean |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Great Ocean 11/1, Looked as good as ever when taking 13-runner handicap hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, good) in November and quickly bounced back from a poor run when sixth of 9 at Market Rasen 17 days ago. Heavy going on penultimate start; also needs to perform better than at Market Rasen latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (7/4 +56%) Nimbus Boy |
7/4(+56%) | (16) Nimbus Boy 7/4, Landed a gambled on just second start for current yard when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, soft) last week. Escapes a penalty for that success, so has to be of interest in his follow-up bid. Gambed-on winner at Hereford (2m4f, good to soft) eight days ago; same mark today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (25/1 -25%) Zestful Hope |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Zestful Hope 25/1, Fairly useful handicap hurdler who won twice at Hereford last season. Yet to get going this term, however, including over fences. Heavy defeats (one over hurdles, then three over fences) on all four starts this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (22/1 -57%) Heure De Gloire |
22/1(-57%) | (10) Heure De Gloire 22/1, Landed a 2m handicap hurdle at Leicester in February. Shaped as if in need of the outing on her reappearance at Taunton in November and could show the benefit of that run here. Front-runner; three wins from 18 starts; peak efforts have also been at about 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (15) (14/1 +13%) Dylan's Double |
14/1(+13%) | (15) Dylan's Double 14/1, Shaped like a stayer upped in trip when sixth on 11 on Plumpton handicap debut/return in November. Proved to be a disappointment at Exeter later in the month and has been given a break since. Jumping lacked fluency on handicap/seasonal debut and he pulled up three weeks later. |

8th (3) (20/1 -150%) John Betjeman |
20/1(-150%) | (3) John Betjeman 20/1, Likeable type who bounce straight back to form when third of 10 in handicap hurdle at this course (15.2f, soft) 17 days ago. Not certain to be suited by the longer trip, though. Four 2nds here over 1m7f; he's hardly ever raced beyond even 2m1f and never over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (50/1 -400%) Zettabyte |
50/1(-400%) | (8) Zettabyte 50/1, Modest maiden hurdler in Ireland for Gordon Elliott who was pulled up in a maiden chase (10/1) at Fairyhouse (24.5f, heavy) 66 days ago. Back over the smaller obstacles on first start for Henrietta Knight. 0-9 for Gordon Elliott but he's of some interest judged on his two placings; headgear off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (16/1 -191%) Jupiter Allen |
16/1(-191%) | (4) Jupiter Allen 16/1, French-bred gelding who confirmed the promise of his Newton Abbot debut second when going one better at Kempton (2m, soft) in November 2022. Hasn't kicked on in 3 subsequent outings but wasn't disgraced when eight in minor event at Compiegne on return in November. Makes handicap debut. Needs a close look on this handicap debut for yard among the winners. |

11th (12) (13/2 -160%) God's Own Getaway |
13/2(-160%) | (12) God's Own Getaway 13/2, Improving sort who caught the eye with the ground he made up when third in 13-runner novice at Warwick (19f) on return in November. Promises to do even better now switched to handicaps. Placed in his two novice hurdles; open to plenty of improvement now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (20/1 +0%) Casa Loupi |
20/1(+0%) | (1) Casa Loupi 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler back in 2021 and returned from a long absence with a promising display on the Flat at Nottingham in May. However, has run poorly both starts back over jumps since. Blinkers for 1st time. Good Flat run last May but his two runs since (over hurdles in November) were uninspiring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (33/1 +18%) Uno Mas |
33/1(+18%) | (14) Uno Mas 33/1, Five-time winner in 2021 and shaped as if retaining ability first 2 starts back from a long absence. However, turned in a stinker at Ffos Las last time. Back up in trip. While latest run was excusable, this test looks sharper than ideal; best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) (14/1 +30%) The Turtle Said |
14/1(+30%) | (7) The Turtle Said 14/1, Fair bumper performer who improved sent handicapping up in trip over hurdles, making it back-to-back wins when scoring in good style at Worcester (20f) in August 2022. Shaped as if retaining all his ability after 15 months off when fourth here in November but was well held at Ludlow 23 days ago. Ran creditably over C&D in November after a layoff, but tailed off at Ludlow latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (9) (80/1 -220%) Fortunefavorsdbold |
80/1(-220%) | (9) Fortunefavorsdbold 80/1, A fair winning hurdler in Ireland for Paul Nolan but has shown little in 4 starts for current yard this season. Could only consider if backed. Irish 3m maiden winner; right out of form in her last five starts, last four for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Any market support for Henrietta Knight's stable debutant Zettabyte would be interesting, but a couple of other rivals hold more obvious claims. GOD'S OWN GETAWAY has placed on his two hurdle appearances in novice company and an opening mark of 105 could be within his range. Nimbus Boy landed a gamble when scoring at Hereford in a conditional jockeys' recently and is sure to prove popular being 7lb well-in. The six-year-old isn't taken lightly and he may give the selection most to think about.
The one who stands out is GOD'S OWN GETAWAY, who shaped promisingly on his Warwick return in November and promises to do even better now switched to handicaps. Nimbus Boy escapes a penalty for last week's win at Hereford so warrants plenty of respect, with Jupiter Allen another to consider now going handicapping from what looks a fair mark on the pick of his form.
Nimbus Boy landed the bets off this mark last week but faces interesting handicap newcomers GOD'S OWN GETAWAY and Jupiter Allen.

7/2(+36%) | (1) Hauraki Gulf 7/2, Bumper debut winner but maiden hurdler and he came in only fifteenth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Cheltenham (21f, soft) 56 days ago. Makes chase debut with more required. Promise in novice hurdles and may have needed the run last time; now goes chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +38%) New Found Fame |
5/2(+38%) | (3) New Found Fame 5/2, A fair winning hurdler who has made a positive start in this sphere, still holding every chance when bad error 5 out at Chepstow (16f, soft) 49 days ago and coming in third. Can do better. He's better than he showed at Chepstow and he should have more to offer; one to consider. |

3rd (2) (11/4 -57%) Horacio Apple's |
11/4(-57%) | (2) Horacio Apple's 11/4, Progressive chaser who got off the mark in this sphere in 8-runner handicap chase (6/4) at Bangor (20.3f, heavy) 28 days ago, soon clear. Open to further improvement. Leading claims. Won easily at Bangor on third chase run; up 10lb but in good hands to continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (80/1 -100%) Stowaway John |
80/1(-100%) | (7) Stowaway John 80/1, Remains a maiden after 17 runs and he came in last of 6 in handicap chase here (17f, heavy) 45 days ago. A stone out of the handicap too. Tailed off in November when back from long absence and 14lb out of the handicap today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (2/1 -13%) Coniston Clouds |
2/1(-13%) | (6) Coniston Clouds 2/1, Made a promising start in this sphere when landing 14-runner handicap chase (11/2) at Catterick (19.2f, good to soft) 49 days ago. Up 5 lb but form has been franked so he's expected to be bang there. Powered ahead on chase debut at Catterick, which bodes well for today's extra yardage. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Horacio Apple's found the drop in trip to his liking when coming home in splendid isolation over an extended 2m4f at Bangor last month, and he merits respect in his follow-up bid. However, a 10lb rise will certainly make life tougher for the Saddex gelding, which brings NEW FOUND FAME into the reckoning. Kerry Lee's charge wasn't disgraced on his first completed start over fences when third at Chepstow in November and there should be more to come. Coniston Clouds enters calculations too.
CONISTON CLOUDS looked a good chasing prospect when going in at the first time of asking at Catterick and can edge out Horacio Apple's who is improving by the run over fences and rates a big threat despite taking a 10 lb hike in the weights for his Bangor victory. New Found Fame appeals as the pick of the remainder for minor honours.
Horacio Apple's won easily at Bangor but preference is for CONISTON CLOUDS, who is taken to make it 2-2 over fences.

1st (7) (16/1 +52%) Readin Tommy Wrong |
16/1(+52%) | (7) Readin Tommy Wrong 16/1, Authorized gelding who was 2-2 in bumpers and though made to work harder, maintained his 100% record when successful in a Cork maiden on hurdles debut in November. Step up to 2½m ought to suit on pedigree and very good prospect for all this rates a whole lot tougher. Winner of two bumpers and a maiden hurdle but stable appears to have stronger candidates. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6/4 +14%) Ile Atlantique |
6/4(+14%) | (5) Ile Atlantique 6/4, Promising type. Career best when winning 15-runner novice hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy, 4/9) on hurdles bow 62 days ago, soon clear. Up in trip and worth considering with good deal more expected. Second to Firefox in a bumper, looked a top prospect on hurdling return, stable selected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 +13%) Lecky Watson |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Lecky Watson 14/1, Useful bumper performer who tasted success on hurdles bow at Thurles (23f) in November and built considerably on that when second in Navan Grade 2 (20f, heavy) 5 weeks ago, keeping on despite taking a strong hold. Type to do better again. Jumping was untidy when second to a stablemate of An Tobar in 2m4f Grade 2 event at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/8 -7%) Firefox |
15/8(-7%) | (4) Firefox 15/8, Useful, 3-time winner in bumpers who impressed on all fronts when making a successful switch to hurdling at Fairyhouse last month, jumping/travelling well and always having matters in hand. Well worth his place at this higher level and leading claims up in trip. Three bumper wins including defeat of Ile Atlantique, impressive maiden hurdle winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 -33%) An Tobar |
8/1(-33%) | (1) An Tobar 8/1, Twice-raced winner over hurdles. 5/2, 2¾ lengths third of 8 to Farren Glory in Royal Bond Novices' Hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 40 days ago. Up in trip. Should progress. Failed to quicken when third in the Royal Bond, form is solid, extra half-mile should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/1 -22%) Chapeau De Soleil |
11/1(-22%) | (2) Chapeau De Soleil 11/1, Promise in 2 starts in bumpers and had little fuss landing 17-runner novice at Clonmel (19.1f, heavy, 4/6) on hurdles bow 36 days ago, cruising clear. Open to significant progress. Made all under today's rider to beat modest opposition readily at Clonmel, unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (14/1 -27%) Croke Park |
14/1(-27%) | (3) Croke Park 14/1, Runner-up only start in bumpers and he arrives here having made it 2-2 over hurdles when landing 6-runner Grade 3 Monksfield Novices' Hurdle at Navan (20f, heavy, 4/6) 49 days ago by 3¼ lengths from Mel Monroe. Jumped soundly then and possibilities upped further in class. Was suited by the step up to 2m4f when landing Grade 3 Navan event, Firefox appeals more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
AN TOBAR should appreciate this extra half-mile. He won a point-to-point in runaway fashion for Denis Murphy but there was a lengthy gap before appearing on the track to take a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle in fine style. Henry de Bromhead's charge was far from disgraced when third in the Grade 1 Royal Bond at the same venue and the form of that race has been advertised since. Firefox beat Ile Atlantique in a bumper at the Fairyhouse Easter Meeting and the pair have both impressed in maiden hurdle wins this season. Riding arrangements suggest they are the stable's preferred, although Croke Park has a Grade 3 success to his name over this trip at Navan, while the remaining Mullins trio also merit plenty of respect.
FIREFOX, a useful 3-time winner in bumpers, marked himself down as one more than capable of making his mark at this level when successful on hurdles bow at Fairyhouse 6 weeks ago and earns the vote now upped in trip. Ile Atlantique, a similarly exciting prospect, may well emerge as the chief threat following his facile hurdles debut victory at Gowran. Croke Park could do best of the others in a race very much one to note.
Gordon Elliort's FIREFOX gets the vote to uphold last season's bumper form with Ile Atlantique, the pick of the Mullins runners

2nd (2) (1/3 +67%) Coco Mademoiselle |
1/3(+67%) | (2) Coco Mademoiselle 1/3, Off mark in Irish points and comfortably followed up in a bumper at Wetherby 9 months ago. Scored readily at Lingfield last time, taking overall record to 3-5; the pick on form. |

40/1(-21%) | (10) Rialannah 40/1, Shaped better than result when ninth of 13 to Avakate in listed bumper at Doncaster (16.6f, good to soft) on debut a month ago, unable to sustain effort. Makes hurdles debut. Never figured in Listed bumper at Doncaster but may do better. |

4th (6) (25/1 -213%) Moonlit Potter |
25/1(-213%) | (6) Moonlit Potter 25/1, Showed something to work on when fourth in a bumper at Wetherby in November and given her pedigree, this distance will suit now tackling obstacles. Nicely bred mare who showed promise in Wetherby bumper; open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (10/1 -186%) Baby Shally |
10/1(-186%) | (1) Baby Shally 10/1, Point winner who made a successful start in this sphere in 7-runner novice at Wincanton (21.4f, heavy) a month ago. Could do with brushing up his jumping but she's open to progress. Bumper defeat is flanked by two wins (point/hurdle); one of the main contenders. |

7th (9) (11/1 -57%) Of Course You Can |
11/1(-57%) | (9) Of Course You Can 11/1, Runner-up in a big-field bumper here on debut in February. Unable to match that form since and now goes up in trip switched to hurdling. Ran well in Listed grade at Doncaster on latest bumper start; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (16/1 -100%) Giver The Hollie |
16/1(-100%) | (4) Giver The Hollie 16/1, €18,000 3-y-o, £15,000 4-y-o, Shirocco filly. Placed both completed starts in Irish points. Shaped like a stayer in her bumpers so no surprise were she to show more now hurdling up in trip. Has shown ability in Irish points and two bumpers; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (80/1 -142%) Ann D'arabie |
80/1(-142%) | (3) Ann D'arabie 80/1, Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser So Scottish and winning hurdler/chaser in France up to 21f Salsa d'Arabie. Beaten a fair way both hurdles starts and is probably a long-term project. Soundly beaten in both outings; handicaps more suitable shortly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) ( ) Harry's Hope |
() | (5) Harry's Hope , Off mark in Irish points at third attempt (Apr 23) but well-held sixth in novice at Ludlow on hurdling debut. Needs to take a marked step forward fitted with a tongue strap. Irish point winner; beaten long way on rules debut; now wears tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -203%) Northern Reel |
100/1(-203%) | (8) Northern Reel 100/1, £38,000 buy after winning an Irish point but little to get excited about in a brace of bumpers 9 months apart. Irish point winner; minor player on her bumper form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
COCO MADEMOISELLE was sent off at odds-on to secure her first victory over the smaller obstacles by an easy 11 lengths at Lingfield in November and that was a pleasant step forward from her debut effort. The daughter of Doyen has been handed a rating of 121 after that display and can shoulder her 7lb penalty to success. The main threat might be hurdle debutant Giver The Hollie, who was placed in a bumper at Wetherby last time and could prove a different proposition in this sphere. Of the remainder, Moonlit Potter appeals most.
COCO MADEMOISELLE landed the odds with the minimum of fuss at Lingfield last month and a penalty is unlikely to prevent the follow up. Baby Shally also won last time and can do better, particularly if brushing up her jumping, with Giver The Hollie another to note.
On hurdles form, COCO MADEMOISELLE has the best chance ahead of Baby Shally. Some of the hurdles debutantes are interesting.

10/3(+17%) | (6) Flash Gorcombe 10/3, Back-to-back winner in the spring and in good order again in recent weeks fitted with a tongue tie, placed on last 2 outings. Looks worth a go at this slightly longer trip. 1m7f winner here; creditable placings over 2m2f and 2m3f on last two outings. |

2nd (7) (16/1 -129%) West Orchard |
16/1(-129%) | (7) West Orchard 16/1, Hampered and fell at the first on chase debut but ridden positively and jumped well when successful at Plumpton last month. In nothing like the same form both starts since and cheekpieces now go on. Made all at Plumpton in November; right out of form both since; cheekpieces are enlisted. |

3rd (1) (11/2 -22%) Boston Joe |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Boston Joe 11/2, Better than ever after 14 months off when easily winning at Wincanton despite a typically erratic round of jumping. Improved again when second at Ffos last next time before finding 21.5f in the mud too much of a test latest. Heavy going an excuse last time; won well here but his tendency to jump left is a concern. |

4th (12) (25/1 +24%) Sans Of Gold |
25/1(+24%) | (12) Sans Of Gold 25/1, Poor form at best over hurdles. Had an excuse on chase debut but isn't really of interest from out of the weights. Lacks solid claims, particularly from 8lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (3/1 +14%) Dear Ralphy |
3/1(+14%) | (4) Dear Ralphy 3/1, Showed no ill-effects of the quick turnaround as he opened his account in 6-runner handicap at Chepstow (23.6f, soft) last month. Excellent second at Lingfield since so he switches to chasing in top form. 212 over hurdles since wind surgery; needs extra on chase debut and drops back in trip. |

4/1(+0%) | (9) My Rockstar 4/1, Got off the mark at Wincanton and backed it up with a good third of 15 in handicap chase at Warwick. Probably needed the run after 7 months off at Taunton in November and better expected now. C&D win (good) last April; may have needed his latest run; big player if back to his best. |

|PU| (5) (50/1 -400%) Lustleigh |
50/1(-400%) | (5) Lustleigh 50/1, Failed to progress from his encouraging debut for Dan Skelton in either start a year apart and no encouragement in a novice hurdle at Exeter on first outing for current yard. Something to prove on chase debut. upped in distance. 784 days off before 70l defeat in maiden hurdle; well-bred handicap and chase debutant. |

50/1(-213%) | (10) Broadoak 50/1, Runner-up at Wincanton in March but pulled up on his last 3 outings. Close second over C&D (good) last March but his form has tailed off; 2lb out of handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Flash Gorcombe has been running well in defeat of late, as evidenced at Exeter (second) and Taunton (third) in recent months, and the seven-year-old should go well again. However, DEAR RALPHY looked the winner for a long way over hurdles at Lingfield in November before weakening into the runner-up berth. Anthony Honeyball's charge could take all the beating if taking to fences and he shades the verdict. Boston Joe and Moytier also enter the reckoning.
FLASH GORCOMBE has been knocking on the door this season, and with this slight step up in trip expected to suit, he's afforded the vote. Dear Ralphy is another to consider now chasing, for all he'll need a thorough test over this distance.
This may well be decided by a return to form from C&D winner MY ROCKSTAR (nap). Chase debutant Dear Ralphy is next on the list.

10/3(+5%) | (8) I'm Too Tired 10/3, Yet to win under both codes but he has been placed on all 5 hurdle starts since joining this stable, beaten 6 lengths into third behind Halpha Soleil and Coup de Gold in a C&D handicap on latest. Likely to be in the mix again. Third to Halpha Soleil over C&D on handicap debut and could be thereabouts. |

50/1(+0%) | (11) Swift Reply 50/1, Unseated in a point and limited encouragement so far over hurdles, pulling up on 3m Newcastle handicap debut on latest outing 7 weeks ago. Very lightly raced 8yo who has shown some ability here, but claims are hardly compelling. |

3rd (6) (17/2 +47%) Big Bee Hive |
17/2(+47%) | (6) Big Bee Hive 17/2, Much improved when landing big-field handicap hurdle at Clonmel in March 2022 for Philip Rothwell. Below that level in a very light career in Britain since but he did fare a bit better when fifth of 14 to Halpha Soleil over C&D on Boxing Day and being eased another 3 lb can only help. Step back in right direction when fifth over C&D last time but was behind a few of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/1 +30%) Copper Fox |
7/1(+30%) | (5) Copper Fox 7/1, Below his best over hurdles and fences lately. Has dropped to a career-low mark as a result and it wouldn't be a shock were he to stage a revival in a first-time tongue tie. Not shaping as though he's about to win, but not ruled out off a dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (16/1 +0%) Getaway With You |
16/1(+0%) | (12) Getaway With You 16/1, Maiden who bettered previous exploits when fourth of 13 in novice handicap hurdle at Lingfield (19.5f) in November. However, more needed if he's to play a part here from 7 lb out of the handicap. 7lb out of the handicap but lightly raced and improvement is possible; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (4/1 +0%) Coup De Gold |
4/1(+0%) | (9) Coup De Gold 4/1, Arrives on a long losing run but he is in form, finishing 2½ lengths second of 8 to Halpha Soleil (I'm Too Tired third) over C&D on Boxing Day. One to consider. Poor strike-rate but runner-up here the last twice and can give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (14/1 +65%) Cailin Dearg |
14/1(+65%) | (4) Cailin Dearg 14/1, Recorded back-to-back wins over C&D in December 2021 but well beaten in 2 comeback outings in recent months, including here. Reduced mark appeals on 2021-22 form but she's struggled since returning from long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 -120%) Robin Goodfellow |
22/1(-120%) | (10) Robin Goodfellow 22/1, Poor maiden on Flat who ran his best race back hurdling after 4 months off when third of 10 to El Jefe over 2m here in November. That form is solid for the grade so he's a contender from an unchanged mark, particularly as this trip may help. Fair third over 2m1f here last time and shaped as though this longer trip might suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (25/1 -213%) Better Be Definite |
25/1(-213%) | (7) Better Be Definite 25/1, Modest form in bumpers/hurdles but stands a much more realistic chance now handicapping for first time. One to keep an eye on in the betting. Makes handicap debut off a lowly mark and in a modest race; not discounted; watch betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (18/1 -50%) Jubilee Gold |
18/1(-50%) | (2) Jubilee Gold 18/1, Built on debut promise in Ireland when landing 2m novice hurdle at Fakenham in May 2022 but not seen again until pulling up in a 2m Ludlow handicap in November. Can only be watched after that. Pulled up on h'cap debut but after long absence; interesting to see how he goes in betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (3/1 -33%) Halpha Soleil |
3/1(-33%) | (1) Halpha Soleil 3/1, Successful twice in French bumpers and came good over hurdles in a C&D handicap on Boxing Day, seeing off the reopposing Coup de Gold by 2½ lengths. A 5 lb rise may not stop him. Won over C&D on Boxing Day on third handicap start and he's respected up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (66/1 -230%) Follow Your Arrow |
66/1(-230%) | (3) Follow Your Arrow 66/1, Won over fences at Hexham in summer 2022. Also placed twice over fences at the beginning of this season but has lost his way since. Remains to be seen whether a return to hurdles and first-time headgear helps to spark a revival. Struggling over fences; major turnaround needed now back over hurdles in cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Boxing Day C&D scorer HALPHA SOLEIL appeared to win with something in hand on that occasion and a double could be on the horizon off a 5lb higher mark. There is a sneaking suspicion that Jubilee Gold could unlock some improvement now faced with a stiffer test of stamina and, despite pulling up on his handicap debut at Ludlow in November, he shouldn't be underestimated. Coup De Gold and I'm Too Tired are others to note.
The C&D handicap won by HALPHA SOLEIL on Boxing Day looks the key piece of form here. Micky Hammond's charge could have more to offer and is taken to confirm his superiority over reopposing pair Coup de Gold and I'm Too Tired. Robin Goodfellow is worth a try over this trip and also makes the shortlist.
The 5yo ROBIN GOODFELLOW kept on well for third over 2m1f here last time and this step up in trip can be the catalyst for a first win.

Likely to improve. Ran poorly at Tipperary last May when well fancied on only start for his previous trainer. |

TULLYHILL looks to have found a good opportunity to open his account over hurdles. The Martaline gelding followed up an easy bumper win at Gowran last spring by finishing second to A Dream To Share in the Grade 1 Champion bumper at the Punchestown Festival. His jumping was far from polished when long odds-on for a maiden hurdle at the same venue on his reappearance in November and hopefully he will have improved since. The Great Unknown indicated ability when fifth to Jigoro in a 26-runner Navan maiden hurdle last month, while Lightkeeper was first past the post between the flags and represents Gordon Elliott. Master Otis was runner-up twice in bumpers and far from disgraced when switched to hurdles at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting.
TULLYHILL had some smart form to his name in bumpers and rates a confident choice to build on his promising hurdling debut second at Punchestown and get off the mark in this sphere. The Great Unknown appeals as the one to chase home Willie Mullins' good prospect ahead of hurdling-newcomer Lightkeeper.
A talented bumper horse last season, TULLYHILL can atone for his unexpected defeat on hurdling debut.

1st (2) (1/4 +43%) Tellherthename |
1/4(+43%) | (2) Tellherthename 1/4, £200,000 buy who confirmed his hurdling debut promise when he landed the odds with the minimum of fuss over C&D in November. Lost action when pulled up in Aintree Grade 1 last time. Sets a useful standard. Best to forgive his Grade 1 effort on Boxing Day; solid win over C&D the time before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 +17%) Dartmoor Pirate |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Dartmoor Pirate 5/1, Offered something to work on when seventh in a valuable bumper at Newbury on his debut in March. Failed to progress at Chepstow on return but created a good impression when easily landing 18-runner Wincanton maiden (15.2f) on hurdling bow last month. Sure to progress. Easy winner at Wincanton switched to hurdles; open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -80%) Home Free |
6/1(-80%) | (3) Home Free 6/1, Plenty of promise when placed in a couple of bumpers last season. Rates a nice hurdle prospect for his leading stable. Clear promise in two bumpers last winter; interesting on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (50/1 -150%) Wise Guy |
50/1(-150%) | (6) Wise Guy 50/1, Point winner who shaped with some promise in a Bangor bumper/maiden hurdle 6 months apart. Still in touch when slipping up between 4 out and 3 out at Fakenham in November and has been given a breathing operation since. Has something to find on his completed rules form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (200/1 -300%) Je Suis Sacre |
200/1(-300%) | (4) Je Suis Sacre 200/1, Has a good pedigree but looked one for later on when well held on last month's hurdling debut at Plumpton. Unpromising debut at Plumpton last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (250/1 -400%) Protector Pete |
250/1(-400%) | (5) Protector Pete 250/1, Half-brother to useful hurdler/fair chaser Petrastar but has only hinted at ability on his completed start over hurdles. Modest fifth in claiming grade last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TELLHERTHENAME lost his action when being pulled up at Grade 1 level at Aintree last month. Prior to that, he gave a good beating to Lucky Place, who was a subsequent winner in fine style at Doncaster, and the son of Malinas could prove very hard to beat back in a minor novice event, even with a 6lb penalty to carry. Dartmoor Pirate can give him the most to think about after his victory at Wincanton last time, while Home Free is an interesting contender making his hurdle debut.
TELLHERTHENAME ran out a ready winner in a race that's worked out well over C&D in November and, with his latest effort easily excused (lost action), he's fancied to defy a penalty. Home Free rates a good hurdling prospect having shown plenty in a brace of bumpers last winter, while Dartmoor Pirate also looks promising judged on the manner of his Wincanton hurdling debut success.
Back down in class, TELLHERTHENAME has strong claims. Home Free (second choice) and Dartmoor Pirate are the other main players.

1st (7) (7/2 +22%) Little Pi |
7/2(+22%) | (7) Little Pi 7/2, Lightly-raced type who showed further improvement to open his account on second start in handicaps at Ludlow (15.7f) in November, overcoming late mistakes in the process. May do better still provided he can keep the errors at bay. Better in handicaps, winning at Ludlow (2m on good to soft) in November latest; up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (9/2 +44%) Daany |
9/2(+44%) | (8) Daany 9/2, Unreliable individual. 8/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap hurdle at this C&D (heavy) 6 days ago, driven out. Carries penalty. Not certain to be in the same form. C&D win (heavy) last Saturday; 7lb penalty demands more but he has to be in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (16/1 -33%) Tribesmans Glory |
16/1(-33%) | (6) Tribesmans Glory 16/1, Fair winning chaser for Tom George in 2020. Lightly raced since but showed some ability remains after another 14 months off when third in handicap hurdle at Exeter in November. Pulled up there since and returns to hurdling. Pulled up back over fences three weeks ago and longer trips than this would seem to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) (16/1 +52%) Double Powerful |
16/1(+52%) | (14) Double Powerful 16/1, Third sole start between the flags but there have not been many positives to glean from his efforts in this sphere. Easy to look elsewhere. Prominent long way on handicap debut; drops back in trip today but has no solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (5/1 -67%) Great Valley |
5/1(-67%) | (13) Great Valley 5/1, Related to numerous winners and bettered previous efforts when second in juvenile at Taunton a month ago. Cheekpieces on for handicap debut and very much one to consider. 2nd in his two completions and should have realistic mark for handicap debut; cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 +33%) Dancing Harry |
5/1(+33%) | (1) Dancing Harry 5/1, A fairly useful winner at 14f on Flat. Not so good over hurdles so far, fifth of 11 in handicap hurdle (6/1) at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) 29 days ago. Nothing like so good over hurdles (five runs) as on Flat but some encouragement last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (16/1 -113%) Staar |
16/1(-113%) | (12) Staar 16/1, Placed both starts in points in 2018 and very lightly raced to date over hurdles, achieving modest form at best. Likely needed the run at Uttoxeter 3 weeks ago, so not a forlorn hope. Very lightly raced 10yo; neck second on handicap debut (2m, heavy); may have needed latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (33/1 -65%) Rivers Corner |
33/1(-65%) | (5) Rivers Corner 33/1, Modest in bumpers and similar standard over hurdles. Should come on for latest outing and not a forlorn hope on handicap debut. Showed something on hurdle debut but tailed off all three starts since; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (18) (12/1 -50%) Cosmic View |
12/1(-50%) | (18) Cosmic View 12/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) for the Crisfords but has achieved little over hurdles and looks up against it from out of the weights. Makes handicap hurdle debut off a lowly mark; tongue tied first time; needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (16) (22/1 +33%) Pivotal Sky |
22/1(+33%) | (16) Pivotal Sky 22/1, Yet to achieve much over hurdles and hard to make a case for. Has shown a little ability at big odds but more is required for this handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (15/2 -15%) Kooky |
15/2(-15%) | (2) Kooky 15/2, Encouraging start when third in a Huntingdon bumper (15.8f) last January and mild promise so far over hurdles. Bred to do better and looks an interesting handicap debutant after a three-month break. Off three months before this handicap debut and stable is among the winners; may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (28/1 -133%) Renegade Arrow |
28/1(-133%) | (10) Renegade Arrow 28/1, Perth bumper winner in September 2021. Not seen again until well held in 3 hurdles this winter but could prove a different proposition now handicapping. Last of 15 at 125-1 over C&D latest; makes handicap debut and market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (33/1 +18%) Mr Sociable |
33/1(+18%) | (11) Mr Sociable 33/1, Well held in 3 outings back from a long absence last winter and no more encouragement at Exeter on return. Hard to make a case for. Two lengthy absences and well held in handicaps on last four starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (125/1 -150%) Sous Surveillance |
125/1(-150%) | (9) Sous Surveillance 125/1, Poor maiden on the Flat and not enough encouragement over hurdles to make him of interest in this. Showed a glimmer last March but Flat and hurdle runs since have not gone well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for DAANY after a determined success over C&D on Saturday, there could be more to come from the seven-year-old, despite a 7lb penalty. Joe Tickle's charge can get the better of Ludlow scorer Little Pi, as well as Dancing Harry, who wasn't beaten far at Taunton last time out. Others to note include Great Valley and Staar.
GREAT VALLEY is bred to be better than a mark of 91 and upped his game when second in a juvenile at Taunton a month ago, so he's worth taking a chance on switched to handicaps with cheekpieces applied. Little Pi is a danger and Kooky is another notable handicap debutant.
It will be disappointing if the 4yo GREAT VALLEY can't go well off today's opening mark. Little Pi is second choice.

1st (7) (7/2 +13%) Bebside Banter |
7/2(+13%) | (7) Bebside Banter 7/2, Course winner in November. Folded as if amiss home turn and pulled up quickly in handicap chase (9/4) at Hexham (20.1f, heavy) last month but remains handily weighted if back on song. Won here on chase debut & heavy ground may have been too much at Hexham; retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/2 +61%) Robins Field |
11/2(+61%) | (8) Robins Field 11/2, Runner-up twice last spring (including here) but has been below par this winter. Mark drops another 4 lb but needs to show more stepped back up in trip. Had a wind operation. Perhaps wind surgery will prompt a return to form and he's down to an attractive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (17/2 +39%) Living's Boy An Co |
17/2(+39%) | (5) Living's Boy An Co 17/2, Off the mark in emphatic fashion over fences at Market Rasen in October 2022 but not much to write home about since (including over hurdles). 10 lb lower than when last seen in this sphere and needs the switch back over fences to spark a revival. Didn't run badly over hurdles last month and fences may well suit better; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/1 +13%) Royle Steel |
7/1(+13%) | (3) Royle Steel 7/1, Fair 2m winner over hurdles who got off the mark in this sphere in a weak contest over C&D in October. Rather predictably not in anywhere near the same form at Catterick 6 weeks later and is easy to oppose given his profile. Disappointing at Catterick latest but won over C&D previously and may get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (4/1 -45%) Dr Sanderson |
4/1(-45%) | (1) Dr Sanderson 4/1, Failed to land a gamble when fourth of 8 at Catterick (15.7f) last time but that effort represented a step back in the right direction nonetheless. Down another 2 lb (now 28 lb lower than for his last success in July 2022) and must have a huge shout dropping further in grade. Step back in right direction when fourth at Catterick and may be able to build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (40/1 -21%) Mizuma |
40/1(-21%) | (2) Mizuma 40/1, Just bits and pieces of form when trained by Vincent Laurence Halley in Ireland and offered little after 11 weeks off on yard debut at Catterick last month. Market check advised on second stable start but he struggled at Catterick last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (16/1 +0%) Ashjan |
16/1(+0%) | (9) Ashjan 16/1, Won 3 times over fences (twice around here). Recent efforts not all that inspiring and a return to chasing failed to spark him back to life over C&D in November, merely passing beaten horses having gone in snatches. Down another 3 lb but very hard to fancy. Two-time course winner who has dropped down the weights, but for good reason. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (9/2 -157%) Heeztheboy |
9/2(-157%) | (4) Heeztheboy 9/2, Offered next to nothing in a bumper/over hurdles but having attracted support, proved a different proposition sent chasing despite being 9 lb out of the weights when scoring at Hexham (15.6f, heavy) on return last month. Step up in trip should pose no problems so he's one to consider. Won by 5l at Hexham on chase/handicap debut and holds strong claims up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 +0%) Eurkash |
10/1(+0%) | (6) Eurkash 10/1, Went backwards from a tough race on his reappearance at Southwell but back on track when fourth of 11 in handicap chase at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) last month. It's now 14 starts since his last success, however. Good runs on two of his last three starts and has more going for him than most of these. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BEBSIDE BANTER's most recent run at Hexham was too bad to be true and he is better judged on his penultimate success here in November, when making his debut over the larger obstacles. Chris Grant's charge is narrowly preferred to Heeztheboy, who was a taking winner over shorter at Hexham last month. Unbeaten in two starts here, Royle Steel can also have a say in proceedings.
Alhough unable to justify strong support at Catterick last month, DR SANDERSON still took a big step back in the right direction from a tumbling mark so Ben Haslam's 10-y-o gets the nod to snap a losing streak dating back to summer 2022 at the expense of Heeztheboy, who proved a different proposition sent chasing when scoring at Hexham recently and could well build on that here. Bebside Banter and Eurkash can fight out third.
The very lightly raced 7yo HEEZTHEBOY (nap) won by 5l at Hexham last month on his chase and handicap debut, and can defy a 7lb rise.

3rd (5) (20/1 +0%) Joeswayornoway |
20/1(+0%) | (5) Joeswayornoway 20/1, Unreliable sort. Respectable fifth of 15 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Clonmel (16.2f, heavy) 36 days ago. Tailed off on return at Gowran; signs of a return to form when fifth at Clonmel last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (17) (8/1 +50%) Chosen Shant |
8/1(+50%) | (17) Chosen Shant 8/1, Remains a maiden after 16 NH runs. 50/1, 3 lengths third of 17 to Cristiano Marealdo in handicap hurdle at this C&D (soft) 29 days ago, inadequate test. One to consider if taking part (engaged 3.20 Clonmel Thursday). Third here latest; going the right way for Ciaran Murphy and unlikely to be far away. |

5th (3) (25/1 -25%) Bayou Belle |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Bayou Belle 25/1, Below form eighth of 15 in novice hurdle (66/1) at Thurles (15.9f, good to soft) 26 days ago. More chance back in handicap. The best of her form gives her a squeak but could be coming into the race in better form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (16) (9/1 -125%) Be My Hero |
9/1(-125%) | (16) Be My Hero 9/1, Remains a maiden after 20 NH runs. Respectable fifth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (17f, soft, 14/1) 17 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Engaged 3.20 Clonmel Thursday. Solid efforts last twice at Thurles and Down Royal and should be thereabouts on that form. |

7th (11) (9/2 +50%) Joker Du Chenet |
9/2(+50%) | (11) Joker Du Chenet 9/2, Respectable seventh of 19 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (17f, soft, 10/1) 17 days ago. Stable in good form. One to consider. Ran okay in a Down Royal handicap last month; maybe better over further but should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (8/1 -78%) Cristiano Marealdo |
8/1(-78%) | (8) Cristiano Marealdo 8/1, 1 win from 2 runs this season. Career best when winning 17-runner handicap hurdle (50/1) at this C&D (soft) 29 days ago, pushed out. 6 lb rise shouldn't prevent another prominent showing. Up 6lb for last month and the stable continued in terrific form over Christmas; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (25/1 +11%) Silent Flight |
25/1(+11%) | (13) Silent Flight 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 10/1, fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (15.8f, good to soft). Off 14 months. Betting should guide after lay-off. Fourth in a 2m contest at Thurles 14 months ago; off since but a contender if fit enough. |

20/1(+39%) | (6) Astrophysicist 20/1, Remains a maiden after 17 NH runs. Modest winner at 10f on flat. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Dundalk (16f, 20/1) 44 days ago, hampered. 14/1(-17%) | (15) Thelonglad 14/1, Tenth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, heavy, 12/1) 33 days ago. Others more persuasive. Cork fourth on handicap debut; stable in good form over Christmas and capable of a big run. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
QUORNOFAMONDAY was second in a point-to-point for Claire O'Connell and has progressed in handicap hurdles this season. The Philip Dempsey-trained gelding didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when a close third at Gowran before making costly mistakes at the final two flights when caught close home by Glenabo Bridge at Fairyhouse last time. Cristiano Marealdo caused a 50/1 shock over C&D last month and is taken to go well, while any market moves for Breakintheclouds or the long-time absentee Silent Flight would be interesting.
QUORNOFAMONDAY would surely have won with better jumps at the final 2 flights at Fairyhouse last time and can gain compensation now. Cristiano Marealdo rates an obvious danger on the back of last month's C&D success. Joker du Chenet is an unexposed sort who could yet have a bigger performance in him and also makes the shortlist. Chosen Shant would need considering if showing up here rather than at Clonmel on Thursday.
Preference is for QUORNOFAMONDAY, an improved performer on his last two starts, with the drop back to 2m likely to suit

1st (1) (10/3 -166%) Kabral Du Mathan |
10/3(-166%) | (1) Kabral Du Mathan 10/3, Made a winning debut in juvenile hurdle at Clairefontaine (17f, soft) in July. Hood worn on that occasion is left off now starting out for Paul Nicholls. Solid claims. Battled well to win sole French start (2m1f, very soft); open to progress in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (17/2 +39%) Latin Verse |
17/2(+39%) | (4) Latin Verse 17/2, Fair Flat winner for Ralph Beckett. Struck at the third time of asking over hurdles in Catterick juvenile in November (only run for Syd Hosie), but disappointed at Aintree last time. Latest effort exposes his limitations to an extent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/8 +60%) Kartoon And Co |
13/8(+60%) | (3) Kartoon And Co 13/8, Half-brother to French chaser Hurry Up and made a successful start in 4-runner event at Stratford in October. Subsequent second at Market Rasen was every bit as promising and he sets the standard. Won well at Stratford then clear second at Market Rasen; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (200/1 -300%) Blue Universe |
200/1(-300%) | (2) Blue Universe 200/1, Fair Flat winner who was fourth at Wolverhampton last time. Doesn't look an obvious sort for hurdling, however, and this is a tricky starting point. Hurdles newcomer who brings limited potential on Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/4 +21%) Soigneux Bell |
11/4(+21%) | (5) Soigneux Bell 11/4, Flat winner who stepped forward from previous hurdling efforts when readily off the mark at Fontwell a month ago. More required in this stronger race. Improving sort whose yard has won this race for the last two years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/1 -100%) Whispering Royal |
7/1(-100%) | (6) Whispering Royal 7/1, Fair Flat winner who built on the promise of his hurdling debut when off the mark in a juvenile at Doncaster last time. Could step forward again. Made all at Doncaster last month; one of the main contenders. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Kartoon And Co finished a creditable second under a penalty at Market Rasen last month, having been on target at Stratford on his debut, and he is likely to prove popular once more, along with Clairefontaine scorer Kabral Du Mathan, who merits respect on his first start for the Paul Nicholls team. That said, Gary Moore has landed the two previous renewals and so SOIGNEUX BELL, who put it all together when romping home at Fontwell last time, gets the vote.
KARTOON AND CO sets the standard and there's more to come, so he's fancied to double his tally for all that Kabral du Mathan makes plenty of appeal debuting for Paul Nicholls after a successful start in France. Whispering Royal isn't without a chance, either.
The percentage call goes to SOIGNEUX BELL, ahead of Whispering Royal. Ex-French Kabral Du Mathan has to overcome a big penalty.

1st (7) (4/1 +27%) Oak Creek |
4/1(+27%) | (7) Oak Creek 4/1, Placed both completed starts in Irish points and improved from his hurdling debut when runner-up in maiden at Ludlow (23.8f) in February last year. Not ideally placed when third of 6 at Ffos Las on his return, so he remains capable of better back up in trip. This step back up in trip is likely to suit and he's a strong each-way contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 -338%) Illico De Cotte |
7/2(-338%) | (5) Illico De Cotte 7/2, Easy winner of sole outing in Irish points and shaped well on his Rules debut when runner-up in Lingfield maiden hurdle (19.5f) in November. Pulled up tried in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham next time, but he's well worth another chance back in a maiden. Disappointing at 5-1 in 3m Grade 2 novice at Cheltenham but is surely worth another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (14/1 +65%) Galloping Pride |
14/1(+65%) | (2) Galloping Pride 14/1, Runner-up sole start in Irish points last year, but didn't offer much when sixth of 10 in novice hurdle at Lingfield (19.5f) on Rules debut in November. Needs to take a big step forward over this longer trip. Hurdle debut was modest form but he shaped as if this longer trip could help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/4 +45%) Howaya Now |
11/4(+45%) | (4) Howaya Now 11/4, Progressed again over hurdles when runner-up at Newbury (24.2f) on handicap debut in March last year. Looked set to fill the same position when falling 2 out at Warwick on his seasonal/chase debut in November, so he can make his presence felt reverted to hurdling. 2nd at Newbury (3m, soft) on handicap debut is the best form in this; fell on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (150/1 -50%) Jalisco Star |
150/1(-50%) | (12) Jalisco Star 150/1, Placed both starts in Irish points but comfortably held in 2 bumpers for Thomas Gallagher and fared no better at Fontwell on her stable/hurdle debut in December. Tongue strap now reached for. Placed in 2 Irish points; has not shown enough in three runs under rules; now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (12/1 +25%) Hey Brother |
12/1(+25%) | (3) Hey Brother 12/1, Runner-up in an Irish point, before running to a fair level when making the frame both starts in bumpers. Showed more than on his hurdling debut when third of 7 in Huntingdon maiden (25f) in November, but he may be one for further down the line. 20l third of seven in maiden at Huntingdon (3m1f, good) on second run over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (14/1 -56%) Paddy De Pole |
14/1(-56%) | (8) Paddy De Pole 14/1, Winning Irish pointer who shaped as if better for the run when third in novice hurdle at Chepstow (23.6f) on his first start under Rules. Failed to progress from that effort when last of 5 at this course 6 days ago, but it remains early days for his leading yard. Third run over hurdles; it's too early to dismiss him but others have accomplished more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (10/1 -25%) Monbari |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Monbari 10/1, Encouragement when runner-up only start in bumpers and offered something to work on when fourth on hurdles bow at Warwick (19f) in November. Faced a stiff task in Grade 2 at Cheltenham the following month, so he could yet build on his previous promise. Some ability before tailed off at 125-1 in Grade 2 novice event at Cheltenham (3m, soft). |

|PU| (10) (15/2 +70%) Spot Of Bother |
15/2(+70%) | (10) Spot Of Bother 15/2, €12,000 3-y-o, Well Chosen gelding. Closely related to fairly useful chaser Tothemoonandback. Dam little form over hurdles in France. Placed on second of 2 starts in Irish points back in March 2022. Has a fair standard to aim at on Rules debut. Minor honours in two Irish maiden points early in 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (22/1 +45%) Robinsville |
22/1(+45%) | (9) Robinsville 22/1, Stepped up on his recent run when fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (23.9f) in November, despite not being ideally suited by the steady pace. Has plenty to find, though, returned to maiden company. Probably stays 3m but none of his form poses a threat on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (28/1 -40%) Ballywalter |
28/1(-40%) | (1) Ballywalter 28/1, Presenting gelding. Dam, unraced, closely related to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 35f) Balthazar King and useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3¼m) For Good Measure. Off the mark in Irish points at the sixth attempt (October 29). Watch for market clues. Won in October (3m, heavy) at the sixth attempt in Irish maiden points and did so by 15l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (125/1 -213%) Ellies Sister |
125/1(-213%) | (11) Ellies Sister 125/1, Green on debut but knew more when runner-up in a Hereford bumper a year ago. However, produced a lacklustre first effort over hurdles at Market Rasen in May, so needs to leave that run well behind after 7 months off. 12l second in a bumper; lots to learn judged by her hurdle debut (2m7f, good) last May. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A relatively weak affair where it can pay to side with ILLICO DE COTTE, who was a promising second on his debut at Lingfield before being pulled up in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham last month. The six-year-old may have too much for Howaya Now, who ran a career-best on his penultimate effort at Newbury when second, and Oak Creek.
ILLICO DE COTTE shaped promisingly when narrowly denied at Lingfield on his hurdles debut, so he's worth another chance to build on that effort having found it tough in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time. He can get the better of Howaya Now, who was in the process of matching his fair hurdles form when falling on his chase debut, with Oak Creek also respected.
Cheltenham Grade 2 flop ILLICO DE COTTE may make amends. Howaya Now and Oak Creek should be serious rivals.

1st (2) (4/5 +36%) Sunday Soldier |
4/5(+36%) | (2) Sunday Soldier 4/5, Verging on fair in bumpers in Ireland and left previous hurdling efforts behind when scoring readily on handicap debut at Musselburgh. Improved further when following up over same C&D last week and can complete the hat-trick under a penalty. Easy wins at Musselburgh the last twice; ahead of the handicapper; should be tough to beat. |

2nd (9) (12/1 +52%) Celestial Fashion |
12/1(+52%) | (9) Celestial Fashion 12/1, Modest maiden who ran creditably from 6 lb out of the weights when fourth in 8-runner handicap hurdle (22/1) at Ayr (16f, soft) 32 days ago. Hood back on. Inconsistent 13-race maiden but form of last-time-out 4th at Ayr has worked out very well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/1 -33%) Melvich Bay |
10/1(-33%) | (8) Melvich Bay 10/1, Running creditably when brought down in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (18.6f, good, 9/1) 159 days ago. Can make presence felt if turning up in similar form. 0-12 but some fair form earlier this season and has an each-way chance back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/1 -33%) Chicago Gal |
10/1(-33%) | (1) Chicago Gal 10/1, Fair maiden on Flat who showed an aptitude for hurdling on 2 of her 3 starts in juvenile events last winter. Clearly not 100% when pulled up on the level at Kempton in March and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests back over hurdles when third to Sunday Soldier at Musselburgh in December. Fair 3rd on last month's h'cap hurdle debut at Musselburgh; can give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (17/2 +74%) Fairland |
17/2(+74%) | (6) Fairland 17/2, Poor maiden who shaped as if needing the run when fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle at this C&D (heavy) 45 days ago, weakening run-in. Has had a breathing operation since. Ran okay when fifth over C&D last time but needs something extra to post first rules win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (8/1 -45%) Callin Baton Rouge |
8/1(-45%) | (3) Callin Baton Rouge 8/1, Showed more than previously in handicaps with cheekpieces discarded when fourth of 9 at Fontwell (19.2f, soft) 17 days ago. Possibilities if building on that. Back on song with good fourth at Fontwell, after wind op, and can go well once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (17/2 -55%) Riccirella |
17/2(-55%) | (5) Riccirella 17/2, Placed in bumpers and got back on track over hurdles switched to a handicap when fourth in 11-runner event at Doncaster (16.6f, good, 40/1) 56 days ago, staying on well. Likely to prove herself well treated when getting a well-run race. Eyecatching fourth at Doncaster and could prove well treated when things really click. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SUNDAY SOLDIER continues to go from strength to strength and a hefty 14lb rise may not be enough to stop her landing the hat-trick following another easy success at Musselburgh last week. The slight step up in trip should not inconvenience either and she gets the vote ahead of Callin Baton Rouge and Riccirella, who ran arguably a career best when not beaten far at Doncaster.
SUNDAY SOLDIER is improving in leaps and bounds and can make it 3 from 3 in handicaps. Riccirella is likely to prove herself well treated when getting a strong pace to aim at, while Melvich Bay and Chicago Gal are a couple of others with solid place claims.
It is very difficult to oppose SUNDAY SOLDIER, who made it 2-2 in handicaps when bolting up at Musselburgh last Friday.

2nd (10) (16/1 -78%) Circus Act |
16/1(-78%) | (10) Circus Act 16/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, very good second of 13 in handicap at Dundalk (16f, 14/1) 44 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Blinkers on 1st time. Not dismissed. Back to form when runner-up in a Dundalk handicap in November; worth a look in blinkers. |

100/1(-25%) | (13) Tony's Pet 100/1, First run since leaving Barry Connell when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (23.5f, heavy, 40/1) 49 days ago, tailing off soon after 4 out. New headgear tried today but very hard to fancy on what he has shown so far. |

17th (1) (33/1 +34%) I Don't Get It |
33/1(+34%) | (1) I Don't Get It 33/1, 7/1, seventh of 13 in handicap chase at Down Royal (20f, soft) 17 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Blinkers back on. Out of form since coming back in November, including over fences at Down Royal last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
POLITICISE won the valuable Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel back in 2020 and held a career high rating in the mid-130s. The Camelot gelding is bidding to end a long losing run but has been placed on a number of occasions since including at the recent Leopardstown Christmas Festival when third to Music Of Tara. A reproduction of that form should see him go close. Butty O Brien just came out best in a tight finish at Navan last time while others to consider include American Money, Crafty Gael and Circus Act. Junot steps up in trip after being placed here just before Christmas while stablemate Pana To Milan reverts from fences and also has a significant jockey booking.
POPPY ROSE has returned in good heart and, while she couldn't quite justify strong support when second at Naas last time, she's worth a chance to go one better this time. Fellow in-form pair Crafty Gael and Butty O'Brien should also be involved.
A sporting selection is given to CIRCUS ACT, who returned to form in a Flat handicap at Dundalk in November and is tried in blinkers

1st (4) (5/2 +29%) Mixedwave |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Mixedwave 5/2, Scored at Market Rasen (disqualifed for rider's overuse of whip) before posting a good second of 5 in handicap chase there (23.9f, heavy) 36 days ago. Must enter calculations. First past the post in three of his eight attempts over fences; consistent; should go well. |

2nd (3) (10/3 -11%) Felton Bellevue |
10/3(-11%) | (3) Felton Bellevue 10/3, Arrives in very good nick, fourth of 12 in handicap chase at Lingfield (23.5f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Weighted to go well eased 1 lb. In-form contender who has clear possibilities off a handy mark with Harry Cobden booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/2 -189%) Twenty Twenty |
13/2(-189%) | (1) Twenty Twenty 13/2, Fairly useful chaser who got right back on track with win in 11-runner handicap chase (20/1) at Wincanton (25.1f, heavy) 24 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up despite a 5 lb rise. Bounced back to form at Wincanton last month and still looks favourably treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (10/1 +50%) Voice Of Hope |
10/1(+50%) | (8) Voice Of Hope 10/1, Winning hurdler in Ireland but remains a poor maiden over fences. Easily passed over from 3 lb out of the handicap. Good second over C&D last March but recent form is less encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (16/1 +36%) Freethinker |
16/1(+36%) | (7) Freethinker 16/1, Dual winner at Newcastle in early-2022 but well below par all 4 outings since, including over fences on last 2 occasions. Hard to warm to. Two hurdles wins in 2022; achieved nothing in 2023, latterly over fences. |

|PU| (2) (11/1 -38%) River Tyne |
11/1(-38%) | (2) River Tyne 11/1, Had wind op and tongue strap on for 1st time when pulled up in handicap chase at Fakenham (21.2f, heavy) 24 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. May bounce back with reappearance under her belt but remains a maiden under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (16/5 -16%) Mullys Choice |
16/5(-16%) | (5) Mullys Choice 16/5, Points runner-up but only modest form shown in three runs over hurdles, seventh of 8 in novice hurdle at Lingfield (19.5f, good to soft) 52 days ago. Makes chase debut stepping up in trip and could still do better. Likely improver now handicapping and switched to chasing; interesting off mark of just 90. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TWENTY TWENTY was able to exploit a sliding handicap mark when winning at Wincanton last month, so a subsequent 5lb rise might not be enough to prevent the nine-year-old from following up. Connections have wasted no time in sending Mullys Choice over the larger obstacles which makes him of considerable interest, while Mixedwave and Felton Bellevue appeal most of the remainder.
FELTON BELLEVUE figures on a handy-looking mark so is taken to gain a deserved success at the chief expense of in-form duo Mixedwave and Twenty Twenty who can chase home Ben Case's 9-y-o in that order.
Judged on his solid Irish point effort, MULLYS CHOICE looks very interesting switched to chasing. Felton Bellevue is second choice.

Leading claims with more to come. Southwell bumper winner last April; solid start over hurdles when 2nd at Fakenham. |

150/1(-355%) | (3) Cornish Storm 150/1, Fair Flat winner but pulled up in novice hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) on NH debut 4 days ago. AW winner at 1m4f in September; saddle slipped on hurdle debut; soft ground is a worry. |

13/8(+54%) | (10) Siam Park 13/8, In second when falling at the last in an Irish point in February and made a promising start when fourth of 18 in novice hurdle (10/3) at this C&D (heavy) on NH debut 24 days ago. Should have more to offer. Ran well for a long way on hurdle debut over C&D; should improve for the run; contender. |

4th (11) (28/1 +72%) Thurley |
28/1(+72%) | (11) Thurley 28/1, Hinted at promise when fourth of 15 over C&D and unseated rider after stumbling third (hampered) at Taunton last time. No forlorn hope. Signs of ability when 4th on C&D hurdle debut; much lesser effort in sole completion since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (16) (14/1 -75%) Lady Caro |
14/1(-75%) | (16) Lady Caro 14/1, Fair form in bumpers and there were positives to glean from her hurdles debut sixth in a 15-runner Ludlow novice (15.8f, soft) in October. Entitled to come on for that. Creditable 6th on hurdle debut in Ludlow race that worked out well; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (250/1 -25%) Mr Zee |
250/1(-25%) | (8) Mr Zee 250/1, Fair handicapper on Flat but well held both runs over hurdles this winter. Six Flat wins at up to 1m4f; two hurdle runs don't suggest an early success at this level. |

150/1(-355%) | (15) Getmetothemoon 150/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules and only ninth of 10 in novice hurdle at this C&D (soft) 17 days ago. Respectable hurdle debut over C&D but beaten a long way out here next time; handicaps soon. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (17) (4/1 +20%) Military Tycoon |
4/1(+20%) | (17) Military Tycoon 4/1, Fairly useful Flat winner for Hugo Palmer who bagged handicap at Salisbury (14.2f, heavy) in October. Considered now starting out over hurdles for his new handler. Stayed on well to win over 1m6f on final Flat start; sold 40,000gns since; hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (125/1 -150%) Greenways |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Greenways 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. 50/1, fifth of 14 in bumper at Lingfield 32 days ago. Makes hurdles debut with more required. Minor point form and has proved a weak finisher in two bumpers, on turf and the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (200/1 +0%) Benville Bridge |
200/1(+0%) | (2) Benville Bridge 200/1, Well held in bumper/novice hurdle here so lots more is needed. Triple-figure prices and no impact in a bumper and a novice hurdle on this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (80/1 +60%) My Friend Sean |
80/1(+60%) | (9) My Friend Sean 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules, only eleventh of 13 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, soft, 200/1) 16 days ago. Hooded for 1st time. No improvement as yet for switch from a bumper to hurdles; hood added to tongue-tie. |

125/1(-681%) | (6) Ilfonce 125/1, Tenth of 11 in bumper (7/1) at Exeter (16.7f, heavy) on NH debut 30 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. 7-1, came home in his own time on bumper debut at Exeter before Christmas. |

|PU| (13) (150/1 -355%) Whats Cooking |
150/1(-355%) | (13) Whats Cooking 150/1, Last of 6 in bumper (17/2) at Newton Abbot (16.8f, soft) on NH debut, running green. Off 16 months ahead of his hurdles debut. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Off since close 2nd in a point nearly a year ago; not an obvious contender on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (250/1 -150%) Haafback |
250/1(-150%) | (5) Haafback 250/1, Offered little in a pair of bumpers early in 2022 and it's hard to envisage him making an impact now switched to hurdles. Dam bred 2 quite useful jumpers for yard; off since early 2022; best watched now hurdling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CALL THE DANCE found only one too good on her hurdle debut at Fakenham in November and she would have learned a great deal from that experience. The daughter of Kayf Tara is likely to have plenty more to come and could prove a tough nut to crack. Ballybay failed to fire on his only bumper start for the Willie Mullins yard before switching to the Gary Moore stable and he looks like a fascinating recruit to keep an eye on in the market. Military Tycoon is a fair performer on the Flat and could also go well.
CALL THE DANCE shaped well on her hurdling bow when runner-up at Fakenham and with a fair bit of improvement in the pipeline she can go one better. Gary Moore's newcomer Ballybay is not without interest though and should ensure Nicky Henderson's fairly useful bumper winner doesn't have things all her own way. C&D fourth Siam Park and debutant Military Tycoon could also have a say.
Siam Park is open to improvement but CALL THE DANCE gets the vote.

Has taken well to this surface and remains of interest. Up 8lb for last month's win but entitled to head the market and one of the ones to beat. |

2nd (9) (3/1 +14%) Palace Rock |
3/1(+14%) | (9) Palace Rock 3/1, C&D winner. Bit below form fourth of 14 in handicap (11/4) at this course (16f) 3 weeks ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Expected to be bang there back down in trip. Did not seem to get home over 2m here last month; should fare better back at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (7/2 +75%) John Alexander |
7/2(+75%) | (8) John Alexander 7/2, C&D winner. Followed a good run with a below-par one when ninth of 14 in handicap at this C&D (15/2) 4 weeks ago. Needs to get back on track. Won this race off a 2lb higher mark last year; not consistent and enough reasons to oppose. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (4/1 +43%) Storm Eric |
4/1(+43%) | (10) Storm Eric 4/1, Course winner, latest in November. 11/1, went like the best horse at the weights when second of 14 in handicap at this course (10.7f) 37 days ago, not ideally placed. Enters calculations. Narrowly beaten in a pair of 1m2f handicaps here before Christmas; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (8/1 -129%) Celtic Revival |
8/1(-129%) | (4) Celtic Revival 8/1, Five wins from 17 runs last year. Creditable fifth of 14 in handicap (8/1) at this C&D 4 weeks ago, ideally needing stronger gallop. Can give another good account. Slightly below par effort here last month but hard to see him out of the frame at his best. |

6th (14) (14/1 -27%) Hasten Slowly |
14/1(-27%) | (14) Hasten Slowly 14/1, Course winner in December. 11/2, shaped as if still in good form when fifth of 14 in handicap at this course (10.7f) 23 days ago, ideally needing stronger gallop. Won over 1m2f; tries this trip for the first time and unlikely to be far away if it suits. |

7th (11) (20/1 -43%) Rockview Consort |
20/1(-43%) | (11) Rockview Consort 20/1, Course winner. One win from 3 Flat runs last year. Had plenty on upped in grade when 9½ lengths sixth of 9 to Birdie Or Bust in listed hurdle at Thurles (15.9f, good to soft, 80/1) 26 days ago. Last run on this surface when winning a 1m2f maiden in February and runs off the same mark. |

8th (1) (50/1 -317%) Nibiru |
50/1(-317%) | (1) Nibiru 50/1, Unreliable type. Eleventh of 14 in handicap (25/1) at Leopardstown (12.8f, good to firm) when last seen 4 months ago. This is his first start on all-weather for nearly 2 years so he needs to bounce back. Likely to be his prep run for the Dublin Racing Festival and probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (25/1 -108%) Pachmena |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Pachmena 25/1, Course winner. Latest win at the Curragh in October. Again well below her best when third of 14 in claimer at this C&D (4/1) 30 days ago. Decent effort in a claimer here last month; no surprise if she was in the frame. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (66/1 -230%) Tudor City |
66/1(-230%) | (5) Tudor City 66/1, One win from 3 runs on Flat last year. 33/1, unable to make an impact when fourteenth of 22 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 4 months ago. Down the field in a Curragh premier handicap in September latest; probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (18/1 -157%) War Correspondent |
18/1(-157%) | (2) War Correspondent 18/1, Untrustworthy individual. 7/1, ran creditably after just 2 days off when fifth of 11 in handicap at this course (16f) 6 weeks ago. Back down in trip. Cheekpieces back on. A trio of solid efforts here from 1m2f to 2m before Christmas; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (33/1 +34%) Fascinating Shadow |
33/1(+34%) | (7) Fascinating Shadow 33/1, C&D winner. 25/1, offered little back on the level when twelfth of 13 in handicap at Bellewstown (17f, good) back in August. Down in trip. Handicapper given him a squeak. Winner on this surface but showed nothing over hurdles in a light campaign last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) (125/1 -150%) Indigo Desert |
125/1(-150%) | (12) Indigo Desert 125/1, Course winner. Last of 13 in handicap at Roscommon (11.8f, good, 11/1). Best watched on first run for yard after leaving W. P. Mullins after 16 months off. Not seen since three poor runs for Willie Mullins in 2022; best watched on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Autocrat and PACHMENA are closely matched on running behind Banana Three over C&D last month and slight preference goes to the Gavin Cromwell-trained mare. She won a lady riders' handicap over this trip at the Curragh in October and Calum Hogan looks good value for his claim in this apprentice race. Storm Eric has gained both previous wins here over seven furlongs, but looks a strong contender having finished strongly to fill the runner-up spot on his latest two starts over an extended 10 furlongs. Old Peculier was fitted with blinkers for the first time when opening his account here last month, while Palace Rock and Celtic Revival are others to consider.
Cases can be make for several but the tentative vote goes to PALACE ROCK, who has headgear on for the first time in his career and should appreciate the drop back to 1½m. Second choice is Storm Eric, who is holding his form really well (six in-frame efforts on the bounce) and looked a shade unlucky not to collect here last month. Recent course winners Old Peculier and Hasten Slowly can fight out minor honours.
Preference is for STORM ERIC, narrowly beaten twice over 1m2f before Christmas with the step up in trip likely to suit

This represents a drop in grade for FUTURE FORTUNE and, having disappointed in Listed company last time out at Ascot, the Hereford winner can get back on track. She should have too much for Speed Davis and Lawrenny, who shaped with a bit of promise on debut at Bangor last month. Newcomers Ada's Day and Noble Don must also enter calculations.
FUTURE FORTUNE's winning debut was quite impressive and she's worth excusing a lesser effort in a higher grade since, so she's fancied to resume winning ways for all that Speed Davis is expected to fare better than on his Rules debut. Noble Don is another one to consider.
Point winner SPEED DAVIS was an unplaced favourite on his bumper debut at Kelso last April but retains potential and earns the vote.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SHUTTLE DIPLOMACY appeared to be well-fancied before this meeting was cancelled last Sunday and Patrick Mullins is again booked. The selection hails from a family that has produced Flat and jumps winners in France and the yard was in winning form at Cork last weekend. Wartime Leader fetched 200,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to three winners including Invite, who scored at Listed level. Colcannon is from a family that Noel Meade knows well having enjoyed success with the dam and also her sister Sixshooter, while Kelley Kapowski, a half-sister to a number of winners in Scandinavia and Italy, represents Gordon Elliott. Frogman and Paudie's Wings also attracted some betting interest last Sunday morning while Rose Boum represents the yard that won this last year.
A field of newcomers and before market clues it seems prudent to stick with KELLEY KAPOWSKI for the Gordon Elliott team. Shuttle Diplomacy and Kaikoura also make appeal on paper.
There is no more intriguing runner than expensively bought yearling WARTIME LEADER and he might just be good enough

1st (5) (11/4 +21%) Jacks Touch |
11/4(+21%) | (5) Jacks Touch 11/4, Record mixed over hurdles but more like it switched to chasing, making it 2 wins from last 3 starts in mares' handicap at Fakenham (21.2f, heavy) 24 days ago, impressing with her jumping and responding well when tackled. Expected to go well again from 3 lb higher. Has form figures of 4131 (in Class 5) since switched to chasing; may improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 +25%) Terresita |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Terresita 3/1, Won 3 times as a novice hurdler in 2021/22 season. Drew a blank in handicap hurdles last season and now tries her luck over fences back from 8 months off. Possibilities off a handy mark provided she takes well to fences on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (13/8 +35%) Blue Beach |
13/8(+35%) | (4) Blue Beach 13/8, Bumper/fair winning hurdler who enhanced her form when runner-up in competitive mares' handicap at Newbury (20.5f) last spring. Promise to glean from last month's chase debut third at Exeter and likely there's more to come now handicapping in this sphere. Hurdles winner at this track; ran well at Exeter on the switch to fences; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 -57%) Shirocco's Dream |
11/2(-57%) | (2) Shirocco's Dream 11/2, Has gone well fresh previously and enhanced that statistic back from 6 months off/following wind op when beating 7-rivals at Hereford (25.2f) in November, making all and value for extra. Found things tougher in class 2 company next time and back down in trip now. This scenario isn't ideal, having gained both chase wins at about 3m on good going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (25/1 -651%) Uptown Lady |
25/1(-651%) | (1) Uptown Lady 25/1, Novice hurdle winner at Warwick in February 2021. Very lightly raced since, albeit showing promise on second chase attempt when third at Ffos Las (23.8f) in March. Absent again subsequently, so the betting may prove a useful guide here. Lightly raced; interesting off a reduced mark back down in distance on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The vote goes to BLUE BEACH, who shaped with promise on her chasing bow/seasonal return last month, finishing third, and natural improvement ought to make Mel Rowley's charge a solid contender today. Shirocco's Dream struggled in a warm class 2 event at Hereford on her latest outing but she must be of interest now eased in grade, along with Jacks Touch, who made it two wins from her last three when winning at Fakenham 24 days ago.
Boasting a steadily progressive profile over hurdles, BLUE BEACH produced a promising first effort over fences when third in novice company at Exeter 3 weeks ago. Entitled to improve now handicapping up in trip, she earns the vote to come out on top. Jacks Touch has thrived for a switch to chasing, landing 2 of her last 3 starts and she rates the chief threat.
Back at the scene of her hurdles win, BLUE BEACH (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Jacks Touch is second choice.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/1 -9%) Yalla Habibi |
6/1(-9%) | (7) Yalla Habibi 6/1, Son of Soldier of Fortune who was picked up for £42,000 after finishing third in an Irish point in April. Runner-up both starts in bumpers for new connections, stepping up on his Stratford form when beaten 1½ lengths over C&D on Boxing Day. Another prominent showing likely. Runner-up in bumpers at Stratford and here; strong form contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 +0%) Ben Solo |
9/1(+0%) | (1) Ben Solo 9/1, £60,000 purchase after winning an Irish point last February. His half-brother Top Dog was a useful bumper winner. Interesting runner. Bought for £60,000 after comfortably winning a 3m Irish point (yielding; odds-on). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 +33%) Jackpot D'ainay |
6/1(+33%) | (5) Jackpot D'ainay 6/1, €72,000 No Risk At All gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner Grand du Nord, stays 3m. Noteworthy newcomer for a stable with a good 21% strike-rate in these events in the last 5 seasons. 72,000euros 3yo; fourth foal; half-brother to bumper winner Grand Du Nord. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/4 -175%) Rickety Bridge |
11/4(-175%) | (6) Rickety Bridge 11/4, Successful sole start in points and solid start under Rules when runner-up over C&D in October. Built on that effort when fourth in listed company at Cheltenham a month later and he's the one to beat returned to calmer waters. Big shout on the strength of his fourth to Brechin Castle in a Listed at Cheltenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (22/1 -10%) Jewel Eyed Judy |
22/1(-10%) | (8) Jewel Eyed Judy 22/1, Passing Glance filly. Dam (c121/h110), moody 19f-3¾m hurdle/chase winner. The stable gets plenty of bumper winners so she's one to note in the betting on debut. 4yo filly with the allowances and James Turner takes off a further 7lb; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Centreofattention went for 65,000 pounds when changing hands in May 2022 and the son of Choeur Du Nord has to be respected. However, it may pay to side with experience in this contest, which lies with the Paul Nicholls-trained RICKETY BRIDGE. The five-year-old wasn't entirely disgraced in fourth in a Listed heat at Cheltenham in November and he could put that solid effort to good use and get off the mark. Any market support behind Jackpot D'ainay would also be of interest.
An interesting bumper to conclude. RICKETY BRIDGE has run to a level good enough to win one of these and is the one to beat unless the market speaks strongly in the favour of one or more of the newcomers. Centreofattention looks the most interesting of those first timers before any market clues are known. Boxing Day C&D runner-up Yalla Habibi is also likely to have a say.
Rickety Bridge will be popular after his fourth at Cheltenham but on form YALLA HABIBI also has every chance.

6/1(-20%) | (3) Mary Shoelaces 6/1, Ran below form when fourth of 14 in maiden at this course (5f, 13/2) 37 days ago. Good chance on previous efforts in handicap company. Below best in maiden latest but previous handicap run here brings her into the mix. |

6/1(+0%) | (2) Bruce Lightning 6/1, Followed a good run with a below-par one when eighth of 13 in maiden (16/1) at this course (7f) 30 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Needs to bounce back. Has the beating of Exceeding on 7f form here in November; drop in tip could suit too. |

5th (1) (15/2 +17%) Exceeding |
15/2(+17%) | (1) Exceeding 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden who wasn't seen to best effect when seventh of 13 in a maiden at this course (7f) 30 days ago, slowly away. Into handicaps now and may fare better. Slowly away on three of 4 starts here in maidens, promise other occasion. |

Yard debut over C&D last month (tongue-tied then) was poor and remains opposable. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EDDIE G wasn't helped by anticipating the start and hitting the stalls on his handicap debut over C&D last month but still ran a cracker when third to Milliethemollie, with Sophia Klimt and Relentless Flyer well behind. The Ado McGuinness-trained colt, who previously showed promise in maidens, notably at this venue, was well backed on that occasion and losses may now be recovered. Mary Shoelaces was placed twice here behind Scorchio over the minimum trip, but may not be as effective over this extra furlong. Bruce Lightning has shown pace on his latest two starts here over seven, including when runner-up to Seti, with Exceeding back in fourth. The latter has lost his chance a few times at the start, including when getting upset in the stalls last time.
EDDIE G failed to take the anticipated step forward when third on his handicap debut over C&D last month, but he still ran well and looks the most persuasive option from the same mark. Mary Shoelaces is sure to be a big threat if bouncing straight back to form, while similar comments apply to Bruce Lightning,
A weak-looking handicap for the grade and seemingly a good opportunity for EDDIE G (nap) to recoup recent losses

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
VOLATILE ANALYST won six times for Keith Dalgleish, including twice over this trip, to earn a career-high rating of 105. The gelding joined Ado McGuinness last summer and went very close to adding to that tally when just failing to peg back Cash Or Crypto on his penultimate start. He didn't enjoy a clear run last time, but still wasn't beaten far and the step up to seven should suit. Chica Power recorded her fourth C&D win in a claimer earlier this winter campaign and the front-runner beat all bar Bride Tree on her latest start. Gobi Star and El Bello both won twice over C&D in November, but have more on their plate now. Free Solo, Exquisite Acclaim and Western Cape are others to note.
2022-winner PRISONER'S DILEMMA should have come on for his return here last month and is worth chancing from a very tempting mark. Ado McGuinness might have the dangers in Exquisite Acclaim and Volatile Analyst.
The one to be on could be EXQUISITE ACCLAIM, who will also appreciate the return to this trip after disappointing over 1m last time

4/1(+20%) | (4) Conquest Of Power 4/1, Good third of 5 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 5/2) 6 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and in the picture. Capable AW sprinter who seemed to stay the 7f okay when third last week at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (14/1 +13%) Ravenglass |
14/1(+13%) | (8) Ravenglass 14/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Tongue strap on for 1st time, eighth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (5/1) 33 days ago. Merits consideration if back on his A-game. Effective on Tapeta but has been below par in his last three runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (28/1 -133%) Bishop's Glory |
28/1(-133%) | (3) Bishop's Glory 28/1, C&D winner. Winner here in November. 12/1, hampered when respectable 4 lengths sixth of 11 to Pessoa in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. C&D winner; could have been closer with a clear run when sixth behind Pessoa. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (66/1 -164%) My Mate Mike |
66/1(-164%) | (9) My Mate Mike 66/1, 20/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f). Off 6 months. Makes tapeta debut. Off since July when poor but has made the frame in maiden/handicap company. |

9th (12) (50/1 -213%) Written Broadcast |
50/1(-213%) | (12) Written Broadcast 50/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 22 runs last year. 11/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 17 days ago, slowly away. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. Goes well here and the races haven't gone to plan on his last two visits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (14/1 +0%) The Toff |
14/1(+0%) | (1) The Toff 14/1, 25/1, good 2½ lengths fifth of 11 to Pessoa in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago. Blinkers back on. Not ruled out. Fourth to Pessoa latest; only 1-18 and perhaps best suited by Polytrack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (15/2 -7%) Dors Toyboy |
15/2(-7%) | (7) Dors Toyboy 15/2, 3/1, respectable third of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 36 days ago. One for the shortlist. Comes here after solid runs and hasn't had many chances on this surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (40/1 -21%) Ishani |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Ishani 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 5½ lengths eighth of 11 to Pessoa in handicap at this C&D (50/1) 13 days ago. Something to find on form. Returning from 154 days off when only eighth of 11 in Pessoa's race here 13 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Conquest Of Power has run well in defeat on his last three outings and the ease in grade could prove pivotal to his chances. That said, he may come out second best to PESSOA, who impressed over this C&D last time, scoring more comfortably than the winning margin suggests, and a 2lb rise may not be enough to stop him following up here. Dors Toyboy has slipped to 2lb lower than his last winning mark and he has solid claims to hit the frame.
PESSOA looked better than ever when going in over C&D recently and looks the way to go nudged up just 2 lb. Conquest of Power is feared most on the back of his good Kempton third, while Dors Toyboy and Bishop's Glory also need factoring into this open handicap.
The 4yo CONQUEST OF POWER gets another go over 7f and the race didn't go entirely to plan at Kempton last week.

100/1(-52%) | (8) My Mate Tony 100/1, 200/1, twelfth of 13 in maiden at this course (7f) 30 days ago. Two undistinguished runs at this venue, his trainer has much stronger candidates for this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NERANO cost 250,000 euros at a breeze-up sale in Arqana last spring and made a promising debut over C&D last month. The Joseph O'Brien-trained son of War Front didn't enjoy the clearest of passages on the stand side in the straight but kept on well into third behind Raknah, with subsequent winner McVay a length behind in fourth. Artful Approach showed promise on both maiden starts and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to this surface, while I Bid You Ajou, placed behind the aforementioned McVay, and Nedita are others to consider. The Bear Trap filled the runner-up spot twice for Jessica Harrington and was again just denied over seven furlongs last time. A visor is now replaced by cheekpieces.
NERANO cost plenty last year and December's debut over C&D was full of promise, ultimately finishing third. Sure to build on that, he's the one to beat, with the quirky The Bear Trap and I Bid You Ajou a couple of potential threats.
Joseph O'Brien runs four here and may collect with NERANO who failed to get a clear run here five weeks ago and is open to improvement

14/1(+0%) | (6) Keep My Secret 14/1, Unable to land a blow when eighth of 11 in nursery (33/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 31 days ago. Needs to raise her game but the longer trip can help and this is a weak event. |

40/1(-186%) | (5) Nasneen 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving Paul & Oliver Cole when seventh of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW, 20/1) 8 days ago. Low-key stable debut at Lingfield last week; new trip not enough to tempt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GLISTENING NIGHTS lost nothing in defeat most recently when finishing third at Southwell and he should make a decent fist of trying to go two places better off 1lb lower in what looks a winnable contest for Richard Fahey's colt. Both Livinthelife and La Verite arrive with interesting profiles on their handicap debut and may well emerge as the biggest dangers to the selection.
GLISTENING NIGHTS has finished placed on his last couple of starts in slightly better races so in the hope his stamina lasts out over this new trip he's certainly weighted to strike. Livinthelife and La Verite may have bigger performances in them and they look the threats.
La Verite and Livinthelife can do better but GLISTENING NIGHTS has been knocking at the door and looks the safest option.

Wears cheekpieces. 1 of 3 runners for top stable. Eighth foal, dam has a good record at stud, the trainer has two other runners, cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BEAUTIFUL DAWN is by the sprinter Starspangledbanner but there is plenty of stamina on her dam's side and the Joseph O'Brien-trained filly, who cost 330,000 euros as a yearling at the Goffs Orby Sale, may appreciate this step up in trip. She weakened in the closing stages when fifth on debut here over six furlongs in the maiden won by Anvika, and the runner-up has gone one better since. The remainder with form make limited appeal and any market moves for the newcomers would be significant. Timana is of obvious interest and the Aga Khan's homebred daughter of Footstepsinthesand is out of an unraced High Chaparral mare. The selection's stablemates Beyond Your Dreams and Dancing Leaves are both bred to stay at least a mile, while Mm Dragonfly hails from a yard whose newcomers generally progress from a run.
Joseph O'Brien could hold the key to this and BEAUTIFUL DAWN is chanced to build on a promising debut here 6 weeks ago and open her account, with the longer trip likely to suit. Beyond Your Dreams and Dancing Leaves are interesting newcomers for the yard, as is the Aga Khan's Timana for Johnny Murtagh.
Joseph O'Brien has three runners and the experience of the once-raced BEAUTIFUL DAWN may prove decisive.

200/1(-100%) | (3) Eskimo Flo 200/1, Eighth of 10 in minor event at this course (7.2f, 125/1) on debut 13 days ago. Up in trip. 125-1 and little in the way of short-term promise in a 7f novice here 13 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This contest appears to revolve around the regally bred KALIDASA and he can get his head in front on his racecourse debut for the in-form Charlie Appleby team.The 2,800,000gns purchase should have too much for his rivals before going on to tougher assignments down the line. Ground Run may prove to be best of the rest for the father and son team of Mark and Billy Loughnane, while, Alvesta is taken to put her experience to good use and fill the frame.
This will go to a newcomer, with Godolphin's regally-bred KALIDASA, the most expensive yearling sold at auction in 2022, the obvious call. Pilgrim of Culture and Ground Run don't have the price-tag/stunning pedigree of the selection but are also of interest.
Godolphin's KALIDASA had a purchase price to match his sparkling pedigree and he's been found a weak race in which to make his debut.

John McConnell holds a strong hand here and perhaps ZAHEE can land the spoils. The Iffraaj gelding has gained all three career wins over a mile, including twice at this venue, and having dropped down to an attractive mark, indicated another victory may be imminent when keeping on well into fourth behind Comfort Line just before Christmas. Stablemate Cousin Shay was just a neck behind in fifth and is an obvious threat, while Knockmore Prince has also joined McConnell after being claimed out of Noel Meade's yard last month. Snag It made a successful start for Pat Murphy in November and now drops down in trip after another decent effort behind Garrick Painter last month.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and course-winner COUSIN SHAY is taken to resume winning ways now he has slipped to a handy-looking mark. Humanitarian is also weighted to have a big say and next on the list ahead of fellow course scorer Snag It.
John McConnell holds a strong hand here with ZAHEE taken to confirm recent C&D form with Cousin Shay

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Graceful Mary can make her presence felt if recapturing the form which saw her win by half a length over C&D in November, but her lacklustre handicap debut when eighth of 10 last month tempers enthusiasm. The application of a hood for the first time should help East Bank to settle better in the early part of the race and he may outrun his forecast odds. Better ran out a three-length winner over C&D in December but has been hit with an 11lb rise for that success which will make life tougher for him here and preference goes to ZOLA POWER. The latter clearly benefitted from wind surgery when making all to win over 5f at this course eight days ago and he can follow up under a 6lb penalty with scope for improvement following that reappearance run.
There could be plenty more to come from George Boughey's BETTER who is selected to make light of a double-figure rise for last month's C&D success. The unexposed James Tate handicap newcomer Invincible Speed is a potentially dangerous opponent, while the draw could have been kinder to Zola Power but he's one who could easily have more to offer for new trainer Mick Appleby.
Impressive in December, BETTER (nap) could still have untapped potential as a sprinter and may follow up despite a rise in the weights.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CHERRY PINK looked a certain future winner when placed behind better fancied stablemate Doctor Grace on her handicap debut early last year and was returning to this venue for the first time since when again shaping well behind Tynamite just before Christmas. She looks on an attractive mark. Arthur's Victory won three times in the UK for Joseph Parr and dropped into this grade for the first time when keeping on well to be beaten less than three lengths behind Comfort Line last month. Kudbegood, a three-time winner over C&D, is closely matched with Arthur's Victory on that run, while others to consider include Tara Power and Gatsby Cap.
KUDBEGOOD should be spot on after making a solid return from a break over C&D last month and is taken to notch a fourth C&D win of his career. Cherry Pink ran well in the blinkers last time and heads the dangers along with Tara Power. Last year's winner Feature This would also need considering if getting a run.
CHERRY PINK caught the eye staying on over 7f here last month and is taken to get off the mark here over this longer trip

28/1(-250%) | (7) All In The Hips 28/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 18 runs last year. Third of 10 in handicap at this C&D (6/1) 16 days ago. Likely to be on the premises again. Down in the weights and shaped well latest; widest stall not ideal this time though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (15/2 +46%) Mariamne |
15/2(+46%) | (10) Mariamne 15/2, First run since leaving James Ferguson when bit below form fifth of 12 in nursery (25/1) at Newcastle (6f) 27 days ago. Others make more appeal. Course winner; not at her best on last month's stable debut; drawn wide tonight. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DAYTONA LADY arrives here after forcing a dead-heat in her most recent start at Chelmsford, when faring best of those held up off the pace, and she may not have to share first place here off 3lb higher. Boom Boom Pow is fancied as the main danger to the selection after only finding one too good on her last two starts, but she may be the bridesmaid again off the same mark here. Dazy Mazy may be the one to fill the placings after a luckless display off 1lb higher at Newcastle last time out.
SIBYL CHARM pulled clear with one that went in next time at Newcastle recently, so a performance of similar merit could be enough for her to gain compensation. Boom Boom Pow is at the top of her game and should feature, while Daytona Lady can't be ruled out.
Daytona Lady and SIBYL CHARM appeal most. The selection bumped into a rapid improver last time and pulled well clear of the third.

50/1(+50%) | (5) Nation At War 50/1, Once-raced gelding. Seventh of 14 in maiden at this course (8f, 125/1) on debut 28 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Significantly up in trip. Mid-field over 1m here last month; improvement is feasible but others are much preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (100/1 -900%) Dalmatic |
100/1(-900%) | (2) Dalmatic 100/1, Twice-raced gelding. 40/1, third of 7 in seller at Goodwood (11.2f, soft). Off 138 days. First run for yard after leaving John Butler. Beaten 11l in third over 1m3f on soft on second of two starts in Britain, little appeal. |

13th (3) (40/1 -60%) Little Empire |
40/1(-60%) | (3) Little Empire 40/1, Holy Roman Emperor gelding. Half-brother to 9.5f/10.3f winner Red Trail. Dam unraced. Half-brother to four-time winner Red Trail, newcomer from stable in good form at present. |

14th (9) (200/1 -100%) Becausedellasaidso |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Becausedellasaidso 200/1, Once-raced filly. Thirteenth of 14 in maiden (150/1) at this course (8f) on debut 28 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Looked very raw on introduction here four weeks ago, big price then, finished in rear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
COME ON THE LADS made a promising debut on testing ground at Leopardstown in October and, if handling this surface, has strong claims. The Elzaam gelding was only beaten a length when third to better-fancied stablemate Givemehoperosa, keeping on well over nine furlongs to suggest he should get this longer trip. Squire Danagher has given encouragement on all four outings and perhaps the combination of a six-month break and stepping up to 1m4f proved too much in the closing stages when a short-priced favourite here last month. Andy Oliver's charge had newcomer Scatchwah two lengths behind when third to the useful Valiant King at Navan last spring. Dawn Rider is a serious threat on her second to Oliver's Apercu over C&D last month, but disappointed when dropping back to a mile the following week.
COME ON THE LADS ran with credit on debut at Leopardstown 82 days ago and, with cheekpieces fitted, he can find enough improvement to get off the mark at the second attempt. Squire Danagher has achieved slightly more than the selection but is more exposed, while Scatchwah can take a hand if he's ready to go after 8 months off.
A slightly shorter trip and the benefit of the run are potential positives for SQUIRE DANAGHER, third in a 1m4f maiden here last month

1st (1) (13/8 +19%) Beauzon |
13/8(+19%) | (1) Beauzon 13/8, Ended last year on a low-key note but took advantage of much-reduced mark dropped into 0-55 company when landing 12-runner C&D handicap on Sunday. Consistency not his strong suit but claims if arriving in same groove under a penalty. Evidently revived by removal of hood when scoring over C&D on Sunday; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (11/2 +8%) One For The Ladies |
11/2(+8%) | (10) One For The Ladies 11/2, C&D winner. 15/2, again shaped better than distance beaten suggests when third of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford (6f) 32 days ago, enduring wide trip/from tricky draw. Capable of defying this mark if she gets the breaks. In-form mare, having been placed in last three races (twice here); solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 -22%) Come On Girl |
11/2(-22%) | (4) Come On Girl 11/2, Losing run is mounting up but she's returned in good heart this winter, finishing to good effect when second of 11 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 6 days ago. No surprise to see her thereabouts from handy draw. Turns looks near having finished second at Lingfield and Southwell the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 +25%) Kaidu |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Kaidu 12/1, Back on track when runner-up in novice company here (5.1f) in November but disappointed both starts back in handicap company since. Handicapper continues to relinquish his grip at least. Has produced duck eggs in three handicap attempts; something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/2 +10%) My Boy Jack |
9/2(+10%) | (7) My Boy Jack 9/2, C&D winner. 8/1, bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 5 days ago, never nearer. Good pace to aim at here will aid his cause. Both wins over C&D; below best the last twice but is interesting with Rossa Ryan booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 +25%) Shabaaby |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Shabaaby 12/1, Latest win over C&D in November and dispelled a lesser effort when creditable 2 lengths fourth of 11 to Red Walls in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 28/1) 21 days ago, ridden 2f out and keeping on. Each-way claims from handy draw. 40-1 win here in November; far from consistent otherwise for current stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (9/1 -50%) Red Walls |
9/1(-50%) | (9) Red Walls 9/1, Ended long losing run at Southwell in December and, following a good second over C&D, he duly resumed winning ways in 11-runner minor event at Lingfield (6f) 8 days ago. More on his plate now though back in a handicap and widest draw to overcome. Justified favouritism in Lingfield classified race last week; in good form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (25/1 -108%) Captain Wentworth |
25/1(-108%) | (5) Captain Wentworth 25/1, Maiden who, having been well backed, run best race for a while when runner-up at Chelmsford (7f) in June. Not figured in 3 subsequent outings, but likely he'll be sharper for his latest run at that venue 3 weeks ago (following 4 months off). Worth noting if market speaks in his favour. Still a maiden and may ideally need a return to 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (125/1 -400%) Bala Hatun |
125/1(-400%) | (3) Bala Hatun 125/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 6 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm, 50/1) in June, driven over 3f out and soon beaten. Absent since but best effort to date did come on AW. Market may prove a useful guide returning from 7 months off. Far from solid on her 7f/1m form; something to prove dropped in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Beauzon was said to have benefitted from being able to race prominently when winning over C&D five days ago and he merits respect turned out quickly under a penalty, but a wide draw could scupper his chances. With that in mind, a chance can be taken on COME ON GIRL, who continues to knock on the door and she is handicapped to go well. Red Walls is another to consider.
BEAUZON isn't one for maximum faith given his slow starts but he lines up having capitalised on his much-reduced mark with a bit to spare over C&D on Sunday and could just be worth siding with to follow up under a penalty. Come On Girl finished a good second from an unpromising position at Southwell recently and she's feared, with My Boy Jack and One For The Ladies completing the shortlist.
Kept to his ideal scenario with Rossa Ryan booked, MY BOY JACK could well record a third C&D win. Beauzon is feared most.

1st (3) (4/1 +33%) Soames Forsyte |
4/1(+33%) | (3) Soames Forsyte 4/1, Refitted with cheekpieces, capitalised on career-low mark to shed maiden tag at Southwell (1m) 21 days ago, rallying close home and bagging share of the spoils on line. Up 2 lb and no reason why he won't give another good account. Game effort to dead-heat at Southwell latest (form franked); chance up just 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 +56%) Green Power |
7/2(+56%) | (2) Green Power 7/2, Latest win at Kempton in October. 20/1, creditable third of 11 in handicap at this C&D 33 days ago. Placed over C&D the last twice but he'll need to squeeze out more to win today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 +45%) Win Win Power |
3/1(+45%) | (4) Win Win Power 3/1, Resurgent upon joining this yard, gaining fifth success of 2023 over C&D early last month, granted an untroubled passage up the inner and leading final 100 yds. Respectable fourth back here 4 weeks ago. Another expected to continue in form. Five wins in 2023, the latest over C&D last month; not seen to best effect latest; chance. |

4th (7) (33/1 -32%) Eye Of The Water |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Eye Of The Water 33/1, Course winner. Latest win at Bath in August. Not at best when sixth of 10 in handicap (40/1) at this C&D 51 days ago but comes here back on last winning mark and no surprise to see more positive tactics re-employed. Did well last year and back to his last winning mark; others may be stronger stayers today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/4 +55%) Ring Of Gold |
9/4(+55%) | (5) Ring Of Gold 9/4, Course winner who arrives on a losing run but he looked back in better heart returning from 7 weeks off when finishing a close-up fifth of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford (7f) 32 days ago. Back down to a potentially lenient mark and he's one to bear in mind. Handicapped to win and shaped well last time; a fast-run 7f probably his optimum though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 -25%) Showmedemoney |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Showmedemoney 10/1, Three wins from 18 runs last year. 16/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 15 days ago, weakening having led until 2f out. Others make greater appeal at present for all his mark is easing all the time. Three wins last year; dropping in grade today and he's one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (28/1 +15%) Robert Walpole |
28/1(+15%) | (6) Robert Walpole 28/1, 100/1 and blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 11 in handicap at this course (9.5f) 16 days ago. Hood refitted now but he's hard to warm to on recent evidence. Down in trip. Signs of a revival here last time and return of a hood should be beneficial; check market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CEPHALUS is officially 4lb well-in having been narrowly denied at Southwell six days ago, and he appeals as the one to beat in a first-time visor. Soames Forsyte dead-heated for top honours at the same venue three weeks ago and another bold bid looks likely off just 2lb higher, while Win Win Power, who boasts a commendable record on the all-weather, must also be respected.
Having landed a big gamble at Lingfield last month, CEPHALUS more than backed up that effort when runner-up at Southwell 6 days ago, headed close home but nicely clear of the remainder. Now equipped with a first-time visor, he's expected to make another bold bid from what remains an exploitable mark. Ring of Gold is down to a lenient mark himself and he's a threat, particularly granted a good pace to aim at. Win Win Power can also make the frame.
Soames Forsyte and Showmedemoney can go well but CEPHALUS can resume winning ways now tried in a new visor.

1st (7) (13/2 -160%) Asgard's Captain |
13/2(-160%) | (7) Asgard's Captain 13/2, 11/8, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Musselburgh (9f, good to firm), suited by increase in trip. 14lb higher now. Off 136 days. First run for yard after leaving Thomas Dowling. Unexposed and progressive over 1m+; hiked up the weights; check betting on stable debut. |

2nd (3) (6/1 +25%) Surprise Picture |
6/1(+25%) | (3) Surprise Picture 6/1, Course winner. Three wins from 17 runs last year and took a step back in the right direction when sixth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 15 days ago. Visor back on. Becoming well treated. Course winner; mixed bag in recent starts but latest run a step back in right direction. |

3rd (1) (11/4 +8%) English Spirit |
11/4(+8%) | (1) English Spirit 11/4, Bounced back to form to land a third career success in 11-runner handicap at this C&D 67 days ago, well positioned. Respected up 2 lb. Three-time course winner, the latest in November off 2lb lower; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/2 +36%) Kingwell |
9/2(+36%) | (8) Kingwell 9/2, C&D winner. 13/8, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 25 days ago. Likely to run well again. C&D winner last year; ended 2023 with some good C&D runs; each-way claims at least. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 +0%) Admiral Nelson |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Admiral Nelson 12/1, Successful at Newcastle in December but failed to repeat that effort in a race that panned out very differently at Southwell (7.1f) 21 days ago. Up in trip. 7f winner on stable debut but less good last time and stamina has to be taken on trust. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (14/1 -75%) Pembrokeshire |
14/1(-75%) | (5) Pembrokeshire 14/1, Latest win at Musselburgh in October and shaped better than the bare result when sixth of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 20/1) 15 days ago, not much room from 2f out. Free-going 4yo who will need to step up on recent Newcastle efforts if he's to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (11/2 -10%) Lunarscape |
11/2(-10%) | (2) Lunarscape 11/2, First run since leaving Eve Johnson Houghton when creditable third of 11 in handicap at this course (9.5f, 12/1) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Not taken lightly. Placed on her last three starts; drop in trip should suit; cheekpieces now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (13/2 -30%) Mr Boson |
13/2(-30%) | (6) Mr Boson 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden who proved a let-down when eleventh of 13 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm) when last seen in May. Off since. Unexposed 4yo; absent since a poor turf run in May; earlier Kempton second was promising. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Recent C&D winner ENGLISH SPIRIT was never far away in a race which it paid to sit prominently and, with a similar scenario likely to unfold here, Heather Main's gelding can repeat the dose. Lunarscape has been knocking on the door in recent starts so she could find more for the application of first-time cheekpieces. Pembrokeshire continues to fall down the weights and should not be underestimated.
The vote goes to LUNARSCAPE, who found only a well-treated pair too strong on her stable debut at this course 16 days ago. Asgard's Captain has been hit hard by the assessor for his wide-margin win at Musselburgh back in August but further improvement can't be ruled out on first start for Dylan Cunha. Surprise Picture has dropped to a handy mark and completes the shortlist having taken a step back in the right direction at Newcastle last time.
Kingwell and Lunarscape are high on the list but ENGLISH SPIRIT may be able to defy top weight and gain his fourth course win.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
