1st (1) (5/4 -72%) Katate Dori |
5/4(-72%) | (1) Katate Dori 5/4, Bumper winner in early 2023 who immediately bettered his hurdles form when easily making a successful debut over fences at Exeter on New Year's Day. More to come and obvious claims under a penalty. Very well treated under a penalty if he's in the same form as for Exeter win four days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 +57%) Stellar Stream |
6/1(+57%) | (4) Stellar Stream 6/1, Gained a deserved breakthrough success over fences (in first-time cheekpieces) in staying event at Bangor. Failed to complete next 2 starts and looked rusty at Ffos Lason return but better than bare result at Exeter last month. Not taken lightly back on winning mark with headgear re-applied. Won at Bangor (3m6f, heavy) off this mark last February and the cheekpieces return today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (22/1 -38%) Fortunefavorsdbold |
22/1(-38%) | (6) Fortunefavorsdbold 22/1, Fair winning hurdler in Ireland and left previous form for this yard well behind with a brace of handicap chase wins at Huntingdon/Lingfield. Struggled since, however. Cheekpieces went on for two wins last term; may prove best watched until they return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/1 +60%) The Big Reveal |
10/1(+60%) | (7) The Big Reveal 10/1, Yet to match debut hurdles form, including switched to fences handicaps this season after 20 months off, tried in this headgear when seventh at Lingfield latest. Lightly raced; falling in the weights but others still have much more solid claims on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (13/2 -8%) Ultra Beat |
13/2(-8%) | (2) Ultra Beat 13/2, Improved model this term, second on handicap chase debut at Bangor (3m) in October. Fell early at Hereford but quickly back on track when third at Warwick last month. Likely to stay long distances. Placed this term in two 3m handicap chases; another good chance to be placed, at least. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (7/2 +56%) Shot Boii |
7/2(+56%) | (5) Shot Boii 7/2, Becoming well handicapped and showed enough when third at Lingfield last month to suggest he'll be able to take advantage near to hand, no extra only late on. Put up a bold show at Lingfield four weeks ago which puts him into serious calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (14/1 -17%) Fairlawn Flyer |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Fairlawn Flyer 14/1, Won at Cartmel in August 2023 and looked set to coast in at Fontwell the following month only to go lame before 3 out. Off 15 months after that but shaped as if retaining ability when fourth at Kelso on comeback 4 weeks ago. Absent 15 months before an encouraging fourth at Kelso four weeks ago when upped to 4m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
KATATE DORI started the new year with a bang on his chasing bow at Exeter, coming clear of the opposition up the home straight, and a 7lb penalty may not be enough to stop him from making it a quickfire double. Ultra Beat is likely to benefit from the extra couple of furlongs judged on his third at Warwick last month, while Shot Boii is capable of being in the mix too.
KATATE DORI took very well to his new discipline when making a winning chase bow at Exeter on Wednesday and can defy a penalty given how much he had in hand that day. Stellar Stream was better than the bare result at Exeter last month and is interesting back on a winning mark with cheekpieces re-fitted, while Shot Boii shaped as if his turn is near at Lingfield.
Katate Dori is the one to beat on his Exeter win but this is just four days later. SHOT BOII is one of several who need respect.

1st (1) (7/2 +30%) Fun Fun Fun |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Fun Fun Fun 7/2, Useful in bumpers and Grade 3 novice hurdle winner last season. Good chase prospect for top yard. Potentially useful recruit to chasing but this is a relatively tough ask on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/2 -22%) Karia Des Blaises |
11/2(-22%) | (8) Karia Des Blaises 11/2, Fairly useful hurdler. 20/1, 8 lengths third of 8 to Only By Night in Grade 2 at Cork (16.7f, good to soft) on debut over fences 28 days ago. Up in trip. Unlikely to be far away. Fine debut effort at Cork; step up in trip should suit and looks a leading candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (20/1 -67%) Iris Emery |
20/1(-67%) | (4) Iris Emery 20/1, Fairly useful chaser. Creditable third of 7 in maiden at Cork (21.2f, soft) 23 days ago. One of 3 from her stable. Respectable run behind stablemate Spindleberry at Cork last month; probably wants further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2/1 +43%) Lantry Lady |
2/1(+43%) | (5) Lantry Lady 2/1, Quickly reached a useful level over hurdles. Interesting recruit to fences but Blackmore partners stablemate Majestic Force. Potentially smart recruit to chasing and sure to be well schooled coming from this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (28/1 +0%) Miss Pronunciation |
28/1(+0%) | (7) Miss Pronunciation 28/1, Useful hurdler. Below that level in 2 chases this term but likely to do better at some point. No impression in two runs over fences but did better at Fairyhouse; needs this for a mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/4 -29%) Majestic Force |
9/4(-29%) | (6) Majestic Force 9/4, Promising sort. 3/1, second of 7 in maiden at Cork (21.2f, soft) on debut over fences 23 days ago. Leading claims with improvement likely. Mistake at the last might have cost her on her chase debut at Cork; should go close again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (66/1 -100%) Goodie Two Shoes |
66/1(-100%) | (2) Goodie Two Shoes 66/1, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Useful winner at 12f on flat. Fifth of 7 in maiden (28/1) at Cork (21.2f, soft) on debut over fences 23 days ago. Should progress. Held by a few of these after an error-strewn round of jumping at Cork last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (150/1 -50%) Hanoi Jane |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Hanoi Jane 150/1, Fair hurdler. Won a handicap at Punchestown in May 2023. Respectable fifth of 10 in handicap there the following month but not seen since. Makes chase debut. Won a handicap hurdle off 89 at Punchestown in May; has a lot to find on her hurdle rating. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MAJESTIC FORCE made a pleasing start over fences at Cork last month and may be able to go one better. The point-to-point winner was also successful in a maiden hurdle over this trip at Punchestown last season and was only headed close home when bidding to make all on her chase debut with Irish Emery 13 lengths back in third. The selection's stablemate Lantry Lady and Fun Fun Fun were both successful at Grade 3 level over hurdles last term and are interesting recruits to fences, while Karia Des Blaises made an encouraging start to her chasing career when placed behind Only By Night in a Grade 2 at Cork.
The low-mileage MAJESTIC FORCE made a very promising start to her chase career when narrowly denied at Cork last month and is taken to go one better now. Chase newcomers Lantry Lady, a stablemate of the selection, and Fun Fun Fun both tasted success at Grade 3 level over hurdles last season and may provide the main opposition.
Preference is for the unexposed MAJESTIC FORCE, possibly unlucky on her debut at Cork with more improvement in her

Mark Of Gold |
(1) (4/7 +29%)4/7(+29%) | (1) Mark Of Gold 4/7, Prolific winning hurdler who, despite not being an obvious chaser on looks or pedigree, made the perfect start in this sphere in 4-runner Noel Novices' Chase at Ascot (18.8f) just over 2 weeks ago, fortunate after runner-up made a mess of the last. Giving stacks of weight away but can progress. Excellent record here over hurdles and won a Grade 2 on recent chase debut; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lord Of Thunder |
(2) (5/2 -43%)5/2(-43%) | (2) Lord Of Thunder 5/2, On the up over hurdles last season, scoring twice in novice company at Wincanton. Looks the part for chasing and was making a promising start in this sphere when coming down 2 out at Cheltenham on return. Respectable fourth at Exeter since and remains one to view positively. Tongue tie applied. Merely 4th at Exeter on second chase start but respected in view of his previous promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Classic Anthem |
(3) (6/1 +14%)6/1(+14%) | (3) Classic Anthem 6/1, Expensive recruit from Irish points who scored over hurdles at Sandown in December 2023. Promising start over fences back from 6 months off when second of 4 at same course in November but not so good at Newbury (16.4f, good to soft) later that month. Bounce back needed from 6 lb out of weights. Went close on chase debut but well beaten since and 6lb out of the handicap today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MARK OF GOLD stuck to his task and capitalised on his rival's last-fence blunder when making a winning chase bow in a Grade 2 at Ascot 16 days ago. The eight-year-old makes grand appeal now going handicapping over fences and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to complete a brace. The biggest threat may emerge from Lord Of Thunder, who shaped well on his first completed start over fences when finishing fourth at Exeter last month. Classic Anthem is noted too.
Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell combined to take this last year, and they can repeat the trick with LORD OF THUNDER, who ran respectably at Exeter last month and remains a chaser to view positively with a first-time tongue tie applied. Mark of Gold, who took advantage of Personal Ambition's last-fence blunder to make a winning start over fences at Ascot just over a fortnight ago, rates as the obvious danger.
Topweight MARK OF GOLD made a very good start to his chasing career at Ascot last month and can make it 2-2 over fences.

Carismatic Soldier |
(4) (6/5 +100%)6/5(+100%) | (4) Carismatic Soldier 6/5, Failed to land the odds but shaped well when second of 6 in novice hurdle at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) on his hurdles bow 31 days ago. (5) (25/1 -25%)25/1(-25%) | (5) Cornish Comedy 25/1, 10/3, fourth of 7 in bumper at Uttoxeter 9 months ago on his sole run for Mel Rowley. Hooded for yard/hurdles bow and can't be discounted. Backed for bumper (heavy) last April but soundly beaten; left Mel Rowley for £8,000 in May. |

Magna Victor |
(8) (33/1 +0%)33/1(+0%) | (8) Magna Victor 33/1, Raced freely when fifth of 8 in bumper at Perth 7 months ago. More is needed on his hurdles debut. Ran in two Perth bumpers last spring, easily better effort on debut. |

On The Go |
(9) (40/1 -60%)40/1(-60%) | (9) On The Go 40/1, Twice-raced maiden, a well-held sixth of 13 in novice hurdle at Southwell (15.8f, good to soft) 20 days ago. More is required. Weakened in closing stages over 2m at Hereford (fell at the last) and Southwell (18l 6th). |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Out Out |
(10) (50/1 -52%)50/1(-52%) | (10) Out Out 50/1, Shaped well when runner-up in bumper at Warwick in October 2023 but has offered little both hurdling starts 14 months later. In good hands but has a lot to prove. Second in a bumper in 2023 but two remote finishes in 2m maiden hurdles this winter. |

Head Over Hinds |
(7) (50/1 +24%)50/1(+24%) | (7) Head Over Hinds 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1, first run since leaving Gary Moore when third of 10 in novice hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Needs to build on it. First run for new connections was modest form; may do better but hard to fancy just yet. |

Nowmelad bids for a third success over hurdles having been found an excellent opportunity at Hereford in November. That said, this would be the softest ground he has encountered and the vote, therefore, goes to CARISMATIC SOLDIER. Runner-up on his hurdling bow at Leicester, the six-year-old is entitled to be sharper for the experience and may take advantage of the 10lb he receives from his likely main market rival. Boston Boy has the ability to be competitive if producing a clear round after running out on his last couple of starts.
CARISMATIC SOLDIER made a promising start when runner-up in a Leicester novice and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to go one better here. Dual-scorer Nowmelad appeals as the one to chase home Olly Murphy's son of Soldier of Fortune, with hurdling-newcomer Cornish Comedy and the unexposed Following Chapter the pick of the rest for minor honours.
Dual hurdle winner Nowmelad has a 10lb penalty. He also very few viable opponents but CARISMATIC SOLDIER is the clear pick.

Silver King |
(8) (11/4 +66%)11/4(+66%) | (8) Silver King 11/4, Fairly useful winner at 20f over hurdles. Creditable 12¾ lengths fourth of 12 to Lazer Wolf in handicap chase at Clonmel (18.3f, soft, 15/2) 33 days ago. Decent return after six months off when a weakening fourth to Lazer Wolf at Clonmel. |

(4) (13/2 -8%)13/2(-8%) | (4) Aslukwoodhavit 13/2, Latest win in chase at Punchestown in November 2023. Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Thirteenth of 17 in handicap chase (50/1) at Punchestown (16.3f, good to soft). Off 8 months. Goes well fresh. Not seen since well beaten in a Listed handicap chase at the Punchestown festival. |

ASLUKWOODHAVIT made an impressive start over fences when reappearing at Punchestown last season but was let down by his jumping in three subsequent outings. Hopefully those errors have been ironed out and it's encouraging that he's run well fresh in the past. Lazer Wolf showed the benefit of a couple of outings over fences when scoring in good style over 2m2f at Clonmel last month. The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding had Kilashee and Silver King behind in third and fourth respectively and rates a greater threat than The Dara Man, who overcame a lengthy absence when making all at Kilbeggan in August but hasn't been seen again since.
LAZER WOLF proved a different proposition switched to handicap company when scoring in good style at Clonmel last month and looks one to follow. His stablemate The Other Mozzie is next best ahead of Aslukwoodhavit, who has a good record fresh.
Despite a 12lb rise, this looks a good opportunity for LAZER WOLF to follow up a comfortable win at Clonmel last month

(7) (2/1 +20%)2/1(+20%) | (7) Morning Air 2/1, Fairly useful Flat winner in the mud in France and made a successful hurdle debut at Leicester 35 days ago in the style of one who could have plenty more to offer. Sure to leave bare form behind. Fairly useful French Flat win; travelled well to score on hurdle/stable debut at Leicester. |

Risk It All |
(6) (3/1 -33%)3/1(-33%) | (6) Risk It All 3/1, Easy 6-length winner of 2m minor event at Nort-sur-Erdre only outing on Flat for Elisabeth Allaire. Very strong in the betting and shaped well on hurdles debut at Kempton last week, taking keen hold but sticking to his task. More to come. French 2m Flat winner who was a promising third on recent hurdle debut; key player. |

Narragansett |
(5) (7/2 +0%)7/2(+0%) | (5) Narragansett 7/2, Fairly useful (and lightly-raced) winner on the Flat and showed plenty to work on sent hurdling when runner-up at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago, pulling long way clear of the rest. Should improve. Clear second on last month's hurdle debut at Market Rasen and firmly in calculations. |

Dr Waksman |
(3) (7/1 +65%)7/1(+65%) | (3) Dr Waksman 7/1, Fair form in maidens on Flat (stays 10.5f), showed more than previously when made frame last time. Has left Andrew Oliver and now goes hurdling for successful NH yard. 0-5 on the Flat in Ireland but fair form and he's not discounted on hurdle/stable debut. |

(1) (8/1 +68%)8/1(+68%) | (1) Vorderman 8/1, Limited impact in a brace of bumpers but caused an upset upped to 17.7f switched to hurdling at Fontwell a month ago. Far from an obvious follow-up contender under a penalty. Won on hurdle debut at Fontwell but improvement is needed to defy penalty in this company. |

Crown Of India |
(2) (10/1 +50%)10/1(+50%) | (2) Crown Of India 10/1, Fairly useful maiden on Flat (stays 1¾m), well beaten in handicap last time. Has left Ed Walker ahead of this hurdles debut with a hood kept on. 0-8 on the Flat for Ralph Beckett but fairly useful form; not ruled out on hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Morning Air justified favouritism when making a winning hurdles/UK debut at Leicester last month and another bold bid looks likely. However, the form of that race could have worked out better and Venetia Williams' filly will need to improve to defy a 6lb penalty. With that in mind, it could be worth chancing RISK IT ALL to build on last week's third-placed timber bow at Kempton, where he showed clear signs of inexperience. Narragansett is also noted.
Despite failing to land a gamble on last week's hurdles debut, RISK IT ALL showed plenty to work on at Kempton, ultimately finishing third, and with progress on the cards, he could be the answer. Morning Air was impressive when winning at Leicester and is sure to leave the bare form of that trailing in her wake.
Preference is for French Flat winner RISK IT ALL, who can build on his promising third at Kempton nine days ago.

CLONDAW GENERAL wasn't at all disgraced when fourth in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last month and more testing conditions on this occasion are likely to see him in a better light. Prophesea got off the mark over timber at Wincanton but will need to improve on that display against the selection, especially with Chris Down's gelding stepping up in trip. High Joker appears best of the remainder.
CLONDAW GENERAL posted a very good fourth in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time out and can resume winning ways back in these calmer waters. Chris Down's Wincanton scorer Prophesea should ensure he does't have things all his own way however, with Copper Jack next on the list.
Clondaw General has done clearly the most but PROPHESEA might just improve sufficiently now that he is stepped up in trip.

Will progress. Made all to win on chasing debut, jumping was fine, drop back in trip possibly not ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Firefox |
(1) (7/2 -40%)7/2(-40%) | (1) Firefox 7/2, Winning hurdler who was most impressive when winning 6-runner beginners chase at Down Royal first time up over fences. Bettered that form despite being unable to justify short-priced favouritism when close third of 5 to Croke Park in Drinmore at Fairyhouse (20f) 5 weeks ago and can improve again. Failed to run to expectations in the Drinmore, winner has boosted the form, down in trip. |

Kilbarry Saint |
(4) (150/1 -127%)150/1(-127%) | (4) Kilbarry Saint 150/1, 25/1, stepped up from first effort over fences when 12¼ lengths fourth of 8 to Only By Night in Grade 2 chase at Cork (16.7f, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. Clearly has a future in this sphere but faces a stiff task up against horses with some serious potential. Fourth in a Grade 2 mares' contest at Cork, this is much more demanding. |

Walk In Time |
(5) (250/1 -25%)250/1(-25%) | (5) Walk In Time 250/1, Modest winner at 3m over hurdles. Failed to build on the promise of her chasing debut when fifth of 14 in handicap (17/2) at Thurles (25.1f, good) just over a fortnight ago. Significantly back down in trip but out of depth here. Engaged 2.50 Cork Saturday. 90-rated winning hurdler, completely out of her depth in this grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
INTHEPOCKET was a smart novice over hurdles winning a Grade 1 at Aintree and made a bright start over fences on his reappearance last term. The selection was sidelined for nearly a year until making an impressive return at Wexford in October and his decisive victory over Farren Glory and Ifiwerearichman has been well advertised since. Ile Atlantique and Firefox showed a similar level of form over hurdles, and both have also scored over fences. Ile Atlantique easily made all over 2m4f at Navan, while Firefox also drops back in trip and may benefit from more forceful tactics after going close in the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse.
INTHEPOCKET showed no ill-effects of having been sidelined for nearly 12 months when bolting up at Wexford in October and, with further progress on the cards, Henry de Bromhead's 8-y-o is fancied to take this step up in grade in his stride at the expense of Ile Atlantique, who couldn't have been much more impressive first time up over fences at Navan last month. Firefox, who ran a cracker when narrowly denied at the top-level last time, rounds off the shortlist.
Having had only one run last season INTHEPOCKET showed total authority on his reappearance and has the makings of a top 2m novice.

The Bluesman |
(4) (5/2 +0%)5/2(+0%) | (4) The Bluesman 5/2, Chepstow bumper winner on soft in April and returned from wind surgery to make a successful start to his hurdle career back at Chepstow (19.5f, good) in November. Can be expected to improve. Bumper winner who scored on his hurdle debut and could play another leading role. |

Jax Junior |
(3) (11/4 +8%)11/4(+8%) | (3) Jax Junior 11/4, Placed in bumpers last spring. Had wind surgery after making a disappointing start to his hurdle career at Uttoxeter in November and totally different proposition at Doncaster 6 weeks later, winning by 10 lengths. There should be more to come. Made all by 10l at Doncaster; the strength of the form is questionable but he's respected. |

As The Fella Says |
(5) (3/1 -33%)3/1(-33%) | (5) As The Fella Says 3/1, £60,000 after winning an Irish point. Made a promising start to his hurdle career for top new stable when second of 11 over 21f at Warwick (soft) last month. Leading claims with improvement likely. Point winner who was second on hurdle debut and is in excellent hands to progress. |

Game Colours |
(8) (6/1 +40%)6/1(+40%) | (8) Game Colours 6/1, Had wind surgery after pulling up on debut and placed on all 3 starts since, on the latest going down by only a head in mares' novice at Wincanton (21.5f, heavy) 31 days ago. Engaged 12.23 Wincanton Saturday. Knocking on the door after three successive placed efforts; could again be thereabouts. |

Illegal D'ainay |
(2) (14/1 -17%)14/1(-17%) | (2) Illegal D'ainay 14/1, Opened his hurdle account in 2m course maiden in May. Won here in May; creditable efforts in defeat the next twice and this may be more winnable. |

Kissman |
(1) (20/1 +0%)20/1(+0%) | (1) Kissman 20/1, Fairly useful hurdle winner in France but not at that level in 2 handicap starts for new connections. Still early days with this yard but others look stronger here. French winner but down the field in handicaps on both British outings. |

(6) (20/1 +0%)20/1(+0%) | (6) Elysian Knight 20/1, Placed twice in bumpers and ran to a fair level again when 11 lengths fourth on C&D hurdle debut 5 weeks ago. Open to progress. Placed in bumpers and fourth on hurdle debut over C&D in a race that's working out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Minella Kaiser |
(7) (25/1 +50%)25/1(+50%) | (7) Minella Kaiser 25/1, Placed on first of 2 starts in Irish points but remote fourth on C&D hurdle debut 3 weeks ago. More one for the longer term on that evidence. Third on debut in a point but well beaten the next twice, on hurdle debut most recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A wind procedure worked the oracle for last month's Doncaster scorer JAX JUNIOR. Lucy Wadham's gelding impressed with how quickly he put his rivals to bed and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to prevent him from following up. As The Fella Says made a respectable hurdles bow when runner-up at Warwick 24 days ago and the son of Soldier Of Fortune can put up the most resistance to the selection, ahead of the hat-trick seeking The Bluesman.
Nicky Henderson's AS THE FELLA SAYS was an encouraging second on last month's Warwick hurdle debut and can make the most of the 7 lb he receives from previous winners The Bluesman and Jax Junior.
Bumper winner THE BLUESMAN won on his hurdle debut at Chepstow in November and could have plenty more to offer for Paul Nicholls.

Illico De Cotte |
(2) (13/8 -18%)13/8(-18%) | (2) Illico De Cotte 13/8, Irish point/maiden hurdle winner who showed much-improved form when making a winning chase bow at Carlisle (3¼m, good to soft) in October. Ran at least as well when third at the same course last month and he remains with potential as a chaser with headgear re-fitted. Better switched to fences in handicaps at Carlisle this term and stays 3m2f; headgear back. |

Phantom Getaway |
(5) (9/2 +10%)9/2(+10%) | (5) Phantom Getaway 9/2, Winning Irish pointer/hurdler. No show in 3 starts over fences last season but fared much better (had a breathing operation and tongue tied) when second at Ffos Las on return. Went backwards in a big way at Ludlow last month, however, so needs to bounce back. Too many poor shows for comfort but he was also second at Ffos Las (3m) two starts back. |

Livin On Luco |
(3) (7/1 -40%)7/1(-40%) | (3) Livin On Luco 7/1, Consistent rather than progressive over hurdles and bettered that form albeit fortuitously when making a winning start over fences at Newton Abbot under this rider on return. Struggled in better event at Cheltenham since but worth another chance back down in class. Engaged 1.33 Wincanton Saturday. Beaten long way at Cheltenham (good to soft) latest but best on slower; possible reviver. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having found two subsequent winners too strong at Carlisle, compensation could be on the cards for ILLICO DE COTTE. A 2lb nudge up the ratings looks surmountable for Dan Skelton's charge and he edges the vote over chase debutant Ballybentragh. The eight-year-old produced some decent efforts in novice hurdle company last season and he's entitled to strip fitter for his eighth-placed reappearance in the Gerry Feilden. Phantom Getaway is the pick of the remainder.
ILLICO DE COTTE has made a positive start over fences this season, making a winning return at Carlise before surrounded by subsequent winners when third there last month, and he can resume winning ways. Ballybentragh and Mahland should both come on for their comeback runs now going chasing and are possible threats.
Illico De Cotte has made a successful transition to fences but BALLYBENTRAGH could prove a potent force on today's chase debut.

(2) (11/8 +15%)11/8(+15%) | (2) Jasmin De Vaux 11/8, Smart bumper performer, winning the Champion Bumper in March. Excuses for Punchestown defeat and he overcame a couple of mistakes to land the odds in 25-runner novice hurdle at Navan (16f, soft) on hurdles bow 29 days ago. Leading contender with this trip sure to suit. Won Champion Bumper, won readily on hurdling debut at Navan despite some sloppy jumping. |

The Yellow Clay |
(7) (11/4 +8%)11/4(+8%) | (7) The Yellow Clay 11/4, Promising sort. 4/11, career best when winning 6-runner Navan Novices' Hurdle at Navan (20f, soft) 29 days ago by neck from Fleur In The Park. Boasts a superb attitude and more than share of ability. Not far off the best of last season's bumper crop, 3-3 hurdles, only just got up last time. |

Supersundae |
(6) (6/1 +70%)6/1(+70%) | (6) Supersundae 6/1, Hasn't stood much racing but sent off 1/6 and didn't need to run close to peak form to win 14-runner novice hurdle at Ballinrobe (21.4f, good), easily. Off 8 months but that no concern given his yard. Not seriously tested in landing very short odds at Ballinrobe last May, this is demanding. |

Shuffle The Deck |
(4) (8/1 -33%)8/1(-33%) | (4) Shuffle The Deck 8/1, Sent off 5/4 and confirmed debut promise when winning 18-runner novice hurdle at this course (19.5f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Butch Cassidy |
(1) (17/2 -55%)17/2(-55%) | (1) Butch Cassidy 17/2, First run since leaving Philip Fenton (having won a bumper) and looked a good prospect when winning 14-runner novice hurdle (3/1) at Punchestown (19.4f, soft) on hurdles bow 43 days ago, battling well. Expected to build on that. Unbeaten winner of a bumper and a maiden hurdle, mixed signals from Punchestown win. |

Wingmen |
(8) (16/1 +0%)16/1(+0%) | (8) Wingmen 16/1, Dual-bumper winner who made winning hurdles debut in November. Matched that form when second of 4 in novice hurdle (5/2) at Cheltenham (16.8f, good to soft) 23 days ago but this a tough ask. Smart dual bumper winner, maiden winner over this trip, found 2m1f too short at Cheltenham. |

Step back up in trip will suit but he's vulnerable in this company. Prolific Flat winner on the continent, fair run in the Royal Bond, others much preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JASMIN DE VAUX was a smart bumper performer last season scoring at the Cheltenham Festival and the point-to-point winner made a successful start over hurdles when drawing clear in the closing stages to take a 25-runner 2m Navan maiden. The form of that race has been working out well since and the selection should be well suited by this extra half mile. The Yellow Clay is an obvious threat having completed a hat-trick over hurdles in a Grade 2 over this trip at Navan last month, while Butch Cassidy had Shuffle The Deck just over five lengths behind when taking a 2m3f Punchestown maiden. The latter has since scored here over a similar distance.
A cracking renewal, with the vote awarded to JASMIN DE VAUX, who was one of the very best bumper performers around last season and with his opening hurdles win under his belt, there's plenty more to come over this trip. The Yellow Clay finished behind the selection at Cheltenham but has garnered plenty of experience over obstacles and can boast a superb attitude. He's a big threat, along with Butch Cassidy.
With three hurdle runs under his belt, THE YELLOW CLAY has a level of experience that could make all the difference

Another step forward when scoring on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) headed and rallied to lead late on. 1 lb out of handicap but lightly-raced sort represents red-hot stable. Won on last month's handicap debut at Uttoxeter and today's extra yardage could be a plus. |

Encouraging return from 8-months off when second of 9 (clear of third) in a handicap at Sandown (23.4f, heavy) 29 days ago, not given hard time once chance had gone. Up 2 lb for that effort but still 12 lb below his last winning mark, albeit he is a veteran now. Close third at Chepstow recently and he could be bang there once more. |

Took the wrong course when contesting Cross Country at Cheltenham, pulling up, before again failing to complete at Sandown (pulled-up, 28.7f, soft) 29 days ago. Back over hurdles today but has won over C&D. Pulled up at Sandown last month but won three times last year and has a good record here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Pertemps Final winner Monmiral improved from his return effort in a qualifier for the same series at Newbury to finish runner-up in the Long Distance Hurdle at the same venue. The eight-year-old warrants plenty of respect but he does face a stiff task against some interesting opponents with CLOUD DANCER getting the nod. The step up to 3m at Doncaster last time saw him take a big step forward and a 6lb rise doesn't appear overly harsh. Transmission bids to repeat his remarkable success in this event from 12 months ago.
A winner at last year's Cheltenham Festival and second in a Grade 2 already this season, MONMIRAL could have too much class for these back in handicap company. With rain forecast the conditions are likely to be testing and he's shown he can cope with plenty of juice in the ground, as has Transmission who landed this race when it was soft underfoot last year. Cloud Dancer is unexposed over staying trips and he can get in the money.
The ex-French 6yo LEMONCELLO displayed staying potential when keeping on well over 2m4f at Hereford recently and gets the nod.

Shaped as if as good as ever after returning from 19 months off when third of 5 in handicap at Windsor (24.2f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago and entitled to come on from that. However, got back on track when runner-up at Lingfield (20f, soft) just under 4 weeks ago and may well build on that back here. Moody display when well-beaten third at Wincanton (20.2f, soft) since so no surprise to see first-time blinkers applied. Comfortable winner of weak race two runs ago; blinkers on after laboured effort last time. |

(6) (8/1 +20%)8/1(+20%) | (6) Captain Boudet 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden who made a positive return to the fray when third of 18 in 19.5f course handicap in November. Similar form when mid-division at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) since and now attentions are turned to the larger obstacles (third in Irish point). Tongue tie added to usual cheekpieces. Placed in big-field handicap hurdle here in November and looks interesting on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The fitting of first-time blinkers could perk Gyenyame up after putting in an inauspicious round of jumping at Wincanton and it's too soon to be writing him off. JEFFERY'S CROSS offered plenty of encouragement when finishing third on his return from a 581-day absence at Windsor, though, and any improvement should make him tough to beat. Dual C&D winner Thor De Cerisy is also noted.
The Skelton team has taken things up a notch in recent weeks and JEFFERY'S CROSS can provide them with yet another winner after an encouraging reappearance third at Windsor after 19 months off recently. Thor de Cerisy was a dual C&D winner in the second half of last season, so he heads up the dangers returned to this venue, with Enjoy Your Life rounding off the shortlist provided he can put a dismal effort behind him.
Chase debutant CAPTAIN BOUDET ran a game race when placed in a big-field handicap hurdle here two starts ago and still has low mileage.

The Willie Mullins/Paul Townend combination have dominated this race in recent years and may have the answer again with JOYSTICK. The Leopardstown bumper winner only weakened on the run-in on his hurdle debut at Punchestown last month and should progress from the run. Icare D'aubrelle has been very lightly raced since impressing in a bumper on debut here nearly two years ago but did make a promising start over hurdles in a Cork maiden last month, while Big Mike was second on his only point-to-point start and subsequently bought for 95,000 pounds. Fairyland Opera showed improved form when third over C&D last time, while point winner Trasna Na Pairce is another to consider after going close in a Fairyhouse bumper.
Useful bumper winner JOYSTICK gets the nod to build on a promising first effort over hurdles at Punchestown last month. Icare d'Aubrelle rates an obvious danger on the back of his encouraging first attempt over hurdles. Henry de Bromhead pair Trasna Na Pairce and Los Blanco and Gordon Elliott's Honesty Policy are interesting hurdle newcomers.
A course bumper winner in 2022, ICARE D'AUBRELLE may reward the patience of connections who have run him only twice in the interim

Can make his presence felt once more. Well beaten at Newcastle last time but went close in the Durham National previously. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
UNANSWERED PRAYERS won the Southern National on his penultimate start before following that effort with a decent third in the London National. The handicapper left him alone for the latest of those efforts and an ease in grade may see the nine-year-old back to winning ways. Dom Of Mary returns to the scene of his finest hour having won this by 10 lengths 12 months ago. Others to note are Minella Blueway and Jerrash.
Evan Williams' progressive MINELLA BLUEWAY is the least exposed chaser in the field and gets the vote with this first try beyond 3m likely to yield further improvement. Last year's stylish victor Dom of Mary looks primed for another bold showing and is next on the list, although Animal, Unanswered Prayers, Broken Halo and East Street are all worthy of consideration too in a competitive Sussex National.
Last year's winner DOM OF MARY (nap) is back in the cheekpieces which he wore for that comfortable victory 12 months ago. He's the pick.

Only sixth back hurdling at Taunton (2m) 24 days ago but he's entitled to be sharper for that first outing in 3 months and this longer trip could play to his strengths too. Not discounted. Three Flat wins in 2024; ran okay over hurdles last month (2m); stamina a worry today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VALENS BRUYEE just missed out in a conditionals' race on heavy ground at Ffos Las on his return to hurdling. He looks worthy of another chance with Callum Pritchard allowed to utilise his full 7lb claim on this occasion. Risk D'Argent finished a creditable third at Bangor on his seasonal bow and can feature again off his current mark. New Found Fame will likely give another good account, despite a 5lb rise for last month's success at Bangor.
There's a feeling one of the unexposed sorts will step forward, with the suggestion being DANGEROUS TOUCH after his promising fourth at Warwick last time. A market move for Harry Derham handicap newcomer Casual Observer would make him a potential big threat. Valens Bruyee and Alan de Banks complete the shortlist.
Handicap debutant DANGEROUS TOUCH (nap) displayed significant improvement when fourth over 2m in November and can progress again today.

GIANT HAYSTACKS showed promise on his first start for current connections when staying on into the frame in a 23-runner 2m Navan handicap and confirmed that good impression when opening his account in another competitive 2m4f handicap at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. The booking of Conor Stone-Walsh adds to confidence, and he can defy an 8lb rise. Krabat is a generally consistent sort both over hurdles and fences and was a creditable fifth behind Farmers Lodge (won again since) at Fairyhouse last time. Miss Lia won a Tramore maiden in August and was having her first run since when far from disgraced switching to handicap company at Fairyhouse last month.
KRABAT hinted at a revival when a good fifth in a big-field Fairyhouse handicap last time out so looks the way to go here off a lenient mark. Giant Haystacks is feared most on the back of his recent Leopardstown victory, although Miss Lia, Dalmatic and Moylussa can also have a say in this open handicap.
A confident selection goes to the progressive GIANT HAYSTACKS(nap) who faces a much less taxing task here than at Leopardstown last week

I Shut That D'or has won over course and distance on two of his last three starts and beat Theonlywayiswessex on the first of those occasions. The latter has won here subsequently and there is little to choose between that pair on these revised terms, but SUN JOY is less exposed over fences. This six-year-old was having only his second start in a chase when runner-up at Sedgefield in November and a bold bid is expected from Ben Pauling's charge.

(8) (2/1 +0%)2/1(+0%) | (8) Light Up The Dark 2/1, Camelot filly. Half-sister to 2 winners on Flat, including 1m winner Wilkins. Dam 2-y-o 7f winner who stayed 1½m. Noteworthy newcomer for in-form yard. Newcomer from a stable in sparkling form; likely to take the beating. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chez Fred |
(2) (7/2 +36%)7/2(+36%) | (2) Chez Fred 7/2, Saddex gelding. Dam, no promise in bumpers/over hurdles, closely related to smart hurdler/chase winner (stayed 21f) Le Vent d'Antan. Trainer’s newcomers command respect. Stable always to be feared with a bumper newcomer and the market should guide. |

Chantilly Wings |
(1) (4/1 +67%)4/1(+67%) | (1) Chantilly Wings 4/1, First foal, dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/high-class chaser (stayed 3m) Benefficient and fairly useful hurdler/chase winner (stayed 2¾m) Leader In The Park. Nicely bred newcomer and probably worth a market watch. |

Test The Market |
(4) (11/2 -100%)11/2(-100%) | (4) Test The Market 11/2, Cracksman gelding. Dam 7f winner in Spain who stayed 9f. Represents leading yard and won't lack for speed if his pedigree is any guide. Flat-bred newcomer but commands automatic respect from these quarters. |

Ripsnorter |
(3) (9/1 +10%)9/1(+10%) | (3) Ripsnorter 9/1, Australia gelding. Dam, 8.3f winner, closely related to fairly useful hurdler (winner around 2m) Adelar. Wears tongue strap. Mostly Flat-bred and wears a hood and tongue-tie for his debut; best watched. |

Through The Storm |
(5) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (5) Through The Storm 12/1, Bred for the Flat and didn't quite see it out when fourth of 12 in bumper at Hereford (16.2f, good to soft, 11/1) on NH debut 15 days ago. Weakened late in a Hereford bumper two weeks ago; stable have a good record in this race. |

Good Eye |
(6) (18/1 -29%)18/1(-29%) | (6) Good Eye 18/1, Expert Eye filly. Half-sister to 7f/1m winner Styledome. Dam French 7.5f winner. Newcomer with very much a Flat pedigree; good rider booking and potentially interesting. |

LIGHT UP THE DARK gets the vote in an event where the market should provide some vital clues. The Camelot filly hails from a yard in great form and the 95,000gns purchase as a yearling is a half-sister to two winners. Test The Market also represents a powerful stable and appeals on pedigree being by Cracksman out of a winning Camelot mare. Harry Kelly has won this corresponding race twice in the past decade and Through The Storm has the advantage of a previous run when fourth at Hereford last month, while the booking of Finny Maguire on Good Eye may prove significant.
The market will help shape this but as things stands, LIGHT UP THE DARK, Test The Market and Chez Fred look the interesting candidates on paper and are preferred in that order.
Preference is for LIGHT UP THE DARK, given the stable's fantastic run of form over the Christmas perios and indeed prior to that

Snapius |
(5) (5/2 +38%)5/2(+38%) | (5) Snapius 5/2, Ex-Irish hurdles/Flat winner who has been right back on track on last two starts for his current yard. Second of 9 at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) before landing a 7-runner handicap hurdle at Lingfield (16f, good to soft) 18 days ago, despite being weak in market. Not ruled out for excellent trainer. Clear with the favourite when winning at Lingfield and he's a key player up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Schmilsson |
(1) (3/1 +14%)3/1(+14%) | (1) Schmilsson 3/1, Fairly useful performer on Flat and he doubled his hurdles tally after 7 months off in handicap at Wetherby in October. Hadn't quite reached those heights on starts since but still in good heart, possibly not quite seeing out his race in soft conditions (fourth of 8) 29 days ago. Stable are flying. Won at Wetherby on his reappearance but needs to better his two subsequent efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bucephalus |
(2) (4/1 -20%)4/1(-20%) | (2) Bucephalus 4/1, Usually races prominently and positive tactics saw him come good in this sphere when taking a 2m Newbury handicap in March. Latest second of 14 (under today's conditional jockey) in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) puts him bang in the mix here. Highly creditable second at Chepstow recently and a 2lb rise isn't harsh; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Inferno Sacree |
(4) (8/1 -14%)8/1(-14%) | (4) Inferno Sacree 8/1, C&D winner generally makes the running. Enjoyed a fruitful spell landing 5 wins from 6 starts in first half of 2023. Largely struggled since but steps in the right direction on last two outings here, possibly not suited by extra distance when third of 11 here 34 days ago. Player back down in trip. Three-time course winner who is one to consider now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Goodwin Face |
(7) (10/1 +0%)10/1(+0%) | (7) Goodwin Face 10/1, Best effort to date over hurdles when runner-up over C&D in October, still displayed signs of greenness. Disappointing on handicap debut at Hereford (seventh of 15, 16.2f) 15 days ago. Didn't look the most straightforward of rides, but we know he goes well here, as does his trainer. Went close in C&D novice in October and perhaps unsuited by Hereford on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Aggagio |
(3) (10/1 -43%)10/1(-43%) | (3) Aggagio 10/1, Landed decent pot over hurdles at Haydock in March 2023, but runs in this sphere since have been well below that. However, there were signs of promise on his latest run (fifth of 8 at Lingfield 19.5f, soft) when not given hard time. On a handy mark now and market should reveal what's expected. Continues to drop down weights; step back in right direction last time but needs another. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BUCEPHALUS bounced back to form when finishing a respectable second at Chepstow last week. He could go close if able to back that up and is taken to edge an open affair. A winner at Lingfield last time, Snapius arrives in fine form and is likely to prove competitive once again, despite a 5lb rise, while Inferno Sacree is not out of it either returning to a shorter trip. Moab is the least exposed and is another to note.
A competitive 7-runner handicap. AGGAGIO could be the answer to this puzzle, having shaped better than his finishing position last time, so he's on a winnable mark if back on-song. Any market support for the selection would be significant. Recent runner-up Bucephalus and C&D winner Inferno Sacree both like to front run, and they can fill the placings and give Aggagio a nice lead into the race.
Bucephalus is tempting but this could go to SNAPIUS, who came clear with the favourite when winning at Lingfield last month.
Ths is the racecard key.
