1st (5) (4/1 +43%) Law Of Supply |
4/1(+43%) | (5) Law Of Supply 4/1, Showed some promise on his sole bumper start and on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles. Should make a chaser (off mark in Irish points at third attempt). Point winner in 2022 (sold for £80,000); low-key over hurdles; noted on chase debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (16/1 -14%) Icaque De L'isle |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Icaque De L'isle 16/1, Fairly useful chase winner in France and has performed to a similar level for current yard, arguably posting his best effort to date on these shores when runner-up at Fakenham (21.2f, soft) in November. Below par next 3 starts, however, including at Huntingdon when last seen in March. 6lb lower than when runner-up at Fakenham (2m5f) in November; first run since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (17/2 -6%) Stringtoyourbow |
17/2(-6%) | (9) Stringtoyourbow 17/2, Fair winning hurdler who has shown similar form in this sphere, creditable fifth of 13 in handicap chase (13/2) at this course (20f, good) 83 days ago. Has to be taken seriously off a slipping mark. Some signs that he's getting to grips with chasing (0-5); easing mark; more required.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (28/1 -133%) Felton Bellevue |
28/1(-133%) | (13) Felton Bellevue 28/1, Generally reliable and gained a deserved first win for over 2 years at Southwell in March. Decent fourth at Stratford following month and off since. 3-31; fairly weighted and usually consistent, but might need this off a 178-day absence.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/2 +25%) Flash In The Park |
5/2(+25%) | (4) Flash In The Park 5/2, Fetched £350,000 after winning an Irish maiden point by 20 lengths in November 2022 but modest form at best in 3 starts over hurdles. Has left Ben Pauling and sent chasing right away by new trainer. Has had breathing operation. Interesting contender. Point winner (sold for £350,000); no joy hurdling; chase debut for new yard; interesting.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (11/2 +54%) Coconut Twist |
11/2(+54%) | (12) Coconut Twist 11/2, Point winner at the start of the year and made a successful chase debut at Newton Abbot (21f) in May. Has shaped as if still in form all 4 starts since, trip too far latest. Not discounted. Reasonably solid over fences; costly late mistake at Fontwell (3m2f) latest; ticks boxes.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (12/1 +14%) Lermoos Legend |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Lermoos Legend 12/1, C&D winner who found good run of form coming to end at this course (16.5f, soft) 19 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Now 4lb lower than when successful over C&D (good) in summer of 2023; modest run latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (40/1 -150%) Record High |
40/1(-150%) | (3) Record High 40/1, Fontwell bumper winner in February 2022. However, very lightly raced since and modest form only in 3 novice hurdles. Makes chase debut (runner-up on the first of 2 starts in Irish maiden points). Possible that the switch to fences can assist; fitness to prove off a six-month break.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (28/1 -133%) Call Me Arthur |
28/1(-133%) | (11) Call Me Arthur 28/1, Found improvement when winning 10-runner handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f, heavy) in May. Makes chase debut. Made all at Southwell (3m) in May; 7lb higher for first attempt over fences; a possible.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (28/1 -100%) In Rem |
28/1(-100%) | (1) In Rem 28/1, Patchy form last season but shaped as if needing the run at Warwick on return and is potentially on a good mark back over fences. Change of headgear. Down the field (beaten 27l) on recent Warwick comeback; drops into a Class 5 in blinkers.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (8/1 +11%) Shuil Ceoil |
8/1(+11%) | (8) Shuil Ceoil 8/1, Confirmed earlier promise when winning 15-runner handicap at Exeter (21f, heavy) in December. Some decent efforts in defeat since and should make a chaser (every chance when fell last sole start in Irish points). Reasonably consistent this year; weakening fourth over 2m4f here in June; chase debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (11/1 -22%) Duke Of Moravia |
11/1(-22%) | (10) Duke Of Moravia 11/1, Responded well to headgear when off the mark in 7-runner handicap hurdle at Wincanton (21.4f, heavy, 9/2), digging deep. Off 6 months. No headgear for this chase debut but he's the type to do better over fences (runner-up sole start in points). Off the mark over hurdles in first-time cheekpieces at Wincanton (2m5f) in April; chasing?. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (40/1 -21%) The Big Reveal |
40/1(-21%) | (14) The Big Reveal 40/1, Third sole start in maiden points in Ireland and made a fairly promising start under Rules when fourth of 15 in a Chepstow maiden (19.5f). Went backwards next 2 starts, though. Off 20 months. Makes chase debut. Absent since February 2023 and rates as an unlikely candidate on chase/handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (100/1 -400%) Marettimo |
100/1(-400%) | (6) Marettimo 100/1, Fair handicap chaser who shaped as if retaining his ability after 17 months off when fourth of 5 in handicap chase (33/1) at Fontwell (26f, good to soft) 12 days ago. This should reveal more. Four-time chase winner; should improve for Fontwell comeback run; soft ground risk-factor.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A fiendishly difficult contest to get proceedings underway and only a tentative vote can go to SHUIL CEOIL. Neil Mulholland has his string in fine form and his representative, who was largely consistent over hurdles, looks certain to appreciate the switch to fences and may well progress upped in distance. Point-to-point winner Flash In The Park wasted little time over timber and must be respected on his stable debut, while C&D winner Lermoos Legend could pick up some minor money.
STRINGTOYOURBOW possibly went too soon here in July and is worth another chance off a tempting mark. Flash In The Park is an interesting opponent switched to chasing by his new yard, while Duke of Moravia is another chase debutant to consider.
Wind surgery, a switch to fences and a change of scenery could unlock the door for the expensive Irish point recruit FLASH IN THE PARK.

1st (1) ( ) El Elefante |
() | (1) El Elefante , Fairly useful hurdler, scoring twice over this sort of trip last term. Below par when last seen at Perth in April but goes well fresh and warrants respect on chase debut. Useful novice hurdler; is in safe hands with L. Russell; obvious potential as a chaser.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ( ) Glimpse Of Gala |
() | (3) Glimpse Of Gala , Dual hurdles winner in 2022/23 who made a promising start over fences when runner-up in this contest 12 months ago. More miss than hit over hurdles thereafter but returns with yard in better form. Runner-up in this on chase debut last year; wasn't at best back over hurdles thereafter.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ( ) Ilovethenightlife |
() | (4) Ilovethenightlife , Fairly useful hurdler who found improvement when scoring at Plumpton (25f) in January. Below that level on final 3 starts but looks the type to make a better chaser. Underwhelming (did manage a Plumpton win) last season; a bit to prove switched to fences.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ( ) West Balboa |
() | (5) West Balboa , Useful hurdler who made a winning return last term at Aintree in November. Back to that sort of form when creditable third of 21 in handicap hurdle at same course (24.7f, good to soft) when last seen in April and holds obvious claims on chase debut here. Won the Lanzarote in 2023; rounded off last season with fine third at Aintree; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ( ) Getaway Theatre |
() | (2) Getaway Theatre , Point winner who was well suited by emphasis on stamina when making a successful hurdle debut over 2¾m at Stratford in November. Couldn't really build on that, however, and faces a stiff task on switch to chasing. Stratford mares' maiden winner (2m6f); work to do on unfavourable terms; chasing debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Third when trying to land a premier handicap at Aintree's Grand National meeting for the second season running on her latest appearance, WEST BALBOA was head and shoulders above her rivals over the smaller obstacles and will take all the beating if responding well to this switch to fences. Glimpse Of Gala hit the crossbar on her sole previous chase start and she might be the main threat. El Elefante heads the remainder.
WEST BALBOA is the clear pick of these on hurdles form and will be hard to beat if taking to this discipline. Glimpse of Gala has chasing experience in the book and may provide the chief threat.
A good quality mares' novices' chase. Dan Skelton's WEST BALBOA, the 2023 Lanzarote winner, sets the benchmark, looking tough to beat.

7/2(+53%) | (9) Ocean Walz 7/2, Fair form shown when runner-up in bumpers at Hereford and Plumpton in the spring. Off 6 months but must enter calculations. Two promising seconds so far; such experience should be positive and he looks a player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

13/2(+19%) | (7) Kingsley 13/2, €86,000 3-y-o, Jeu St Eloi gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Fest Deiz and fair hurdler/chase winner Gerard Mentor. Not ruled out on his debut. Half-brother to two winners, one in a bumper; represents in-form stable; interesting.. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Runner-up on his Rules debut over C&D last month, START AGAIN looks sure to step forward. He can put that experience to good use and go one better, although Ocean Walz, who has had to settle for second on both of his career starts so far, should produce another solid performance. The booking of Nico de Boinville for the Flat-bred Aim Straight catches the eye and the son of Australia warrants a market check.
The market should reveal plenty but TORMUND GIANTSBANE landed his only start in points so is taken to make a winning start for the Skeltons now. Fergal O'Brien saddles two interesting contenders in Start Again and Sun Art and they can chase home the selection in that order. Kingsley completes the shortlist.
From a stable in from and as a half-brother to bumper winner, KINGSLEY can make a winning debut, with a very useful 10lb claimed.

5/2(+17%) | (4) Clondaw General 5/2, €48,000 3-y-o, £150,000 5-y-o. Closely related to fair hurdler Valentina Lady and half-brother to fair hurdler Flight of Freedom. Dam, 1m-10.5f winner, half-sister to French Grade 1 chase winner Top of The Sky. Won sole start in Irish points (Jan 2024) and looks an interesting newcomer. Bought for £150,000 after Irish point win; yard in form; could go well on rules debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 -38%) Big John Wayne |
11/4(-38%) | (3) Big John Wayne 11/4, Winner of sole completed start in points. Shaped like a stayer when third on 21.5f Hereford hurdle debut and in the process of showing improved form at Newcastle when departing heavily at the last (would have won). Off 7 months. Remains with potential. Looked likely winner when falling at Newcastle; longer trip positive; remains of interest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/4 +22%) Autonomous Cloud |
7/4(+22%) | (2) Autonomous Cloud 7/4, Has developed into a useful staying chaser since showing promise in novice hurdles in early 2022. Likely to take plenty of beating on belated return to this sphere following a breathing operation. First hurdles start since 2022; goes well fresh; acts on good or slower; interesting.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 +67%) Galassian |
4/1(+67%) | (5) Galassian 4/1, Successful only completed start in points and ran to a fair level when second of 8 in a 23f Worcester maiden hurdle in October 2022, pulling clear with a useful sort. Offered something to work on when fourth of 7 in novice hurdle at Bangor (23.2f, soft) on first run since in April. Kept on for fourth at Bangor (2m7f, soft) in April; more needed but not written off.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Bumper winner KING ROLY made a successful debut over hurdles over C&D last month. He had more in hand than the winning margin suggests and is taken to shrug off a penalty, with plenty more to come. Big John Wayne returns to action having looked an unlucky loser at Newcastle back in February when falling at the last. Point-to-point winner Clondaw General is related to winners over timber and is worth a second glance debuting under Rules.
AUTONOMOUS CLOUD has developed into a useful chaser since his last run over hurdles so he has the potential to outclass these back in this sphere. Big John Wayne would have won at Newcastle back in February but for a heavy fall at the last so rates the main threat.
The suggestion is BIG JOHN WAYNE, who was in the process of building on a positive debut when coming down at Newcastle and can atone.

1st (8) (5/6 +44%) The Kemble Brewery |
5/6(+44%) | (8) The Kemble Brewery 5/6, Created a fine impression when going 2-2 in bumpers at Cheltenham but looked in need of the experience when failing to land the odds on his hurdles (2m) debut there, making mistakes before fading into third. Remains one to be firmly interested in returning for in-form yard. Dual bumper winner (both good to soft); goes well fresh, stable in good form; can go well.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (13/8 +51%) Jurancon |
13/8(+51%) | (7) Jurancon 13/8, Successful in Irish points and looked a good prospect when going 2-3 in bumpers at Hereford in March. Looks sure to go well again now sent hurdling. Irish point and dual bumper winner, all on soft/heavy; should make a good hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (80/1 -60%) The Winslow Boy |
80/1(-60%) | (9) The Winslow Boy 80/1, Has shown promise in a bumper and a pair of 2m3f maiden hurdles at Hereford and Ascot. Off 6 months but remains with potential. Ability in a bumper and two hurdles but needs to raise the bar to beat this field.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (16/1 -100%) Jaccours |
16/1(-100%) | (5) Jaccours 16/1, Built on debut when fourth of 8 in bumper (7/2) at Taunton (16.5f, soft) 6 months ago, unsuited by way race developed. Considered hurdling debutant. Half-brother to two hurdle winners and can probably progress now switched to this sphere.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/1 +8%) Hartington |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Hartington 11/1, Promising third of 15 in novice hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f, good to soft, 18/1) on his hurdles bow 6 months ago. 6th (11) (200/1 -203%) Welcheston Warrier |
200/1(-203%) | (11) Welcheston Warrier 200/1, Once-raced maiden. 11/1, eighth of 13 in bumper at Warwick (16f, good) on NH debut 174 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Supported when 11-1 shot on debut but beaten 33l; much more needed on hurdling debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (40/1 -264%) Saint Cyr De Pail |
40/1(-264%) | (1) Saint Cyr De Pail 40/1, £28,000 buy from good French NH family and built on debut to land 5-runner novice hurdle at Exeter (16.7f, good) 180 days ago. Should have more to offer. Improved to score (2m, good) at Exeter in April; penalised for that and is respected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (28/1 -300%) Jumbo Mills |
28/1(-300%) | (6) Jumbo Mills 28/1, Kapgarde gelding. Dam, fairly useful hurdle/chase winner in France, half-sister to French hurdler/chaser (17f-19f winner) Aflatoun. Has had a wind op but still highly respected on his debut for leading connections. Dam French hurdle/chase winner, half-sister to three French winners; from top yard.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (50/1 -257%) Kap De Triomphe |
50/1(-257%) | (10) Kap De Triomphe 50/1, Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in bumper at Naas in February. Changed hands for £55,000 subsequently and he's very much one to consider now going hurdling. Debut Irish bumper winner; stable quiet but no surprise to see a good hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (150/1 -275%) Bobbigrey |
150/1(-275%) | (12) Bobbigrey 150/1, Twice-raced maiden, much better effort when fourth of 11 in novice hurdle at Sedgefield (19.8f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Possibilities. Needs significant improvement to get involved.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (250/1 -525%) Fan Magnet |
250/1(-525%) | (2) Fan Magnet 250/1, Twice-raced maiden for Stuart Crawford, fifth of 9 in bumper at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) 99 days ago. Much respected on his yard/hurdles debut. Some promise in bumpers for previous yard; trainer in form; may improve now hurdling.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Dual bumper scorer THE KEMBLE BREWERY failed to help his cause with a bad mistake at the first at Cheltenham on his hurdling debut. He could only manage third on that occasion, but will have benefited from the experience and can feature on his reappearance. The penalised Saint Cyr De Pail struck at Exeter on his hurdling bow back in April and could have a say in proceedings, while bumper winners Jurancon and Kap De Triomphe are worthy of a second glance.
Plenty of these bring potential but Kim Bailey's THE KEMBLE BREWERY sets a very good standard so is taken to make light of a lengthy absence for a yard among the winners and add to his useful bumper successes. Jurancon has also looked a good prospect in bumpers and is next on the list, with fellow hurdling newcomers Kap de Triomphe and Jumbo Mills worthy of consideration too. Hartington and The Winslow Boy are two others who need factoring into this intriguing maiden hurdle.
The suggestion is THE KEMBLE BREWERY who has conditions to suit, represents a stable going well and looks one to catch when fresh.

10/1(-18%) | (2) Fromheretoeternity 10/1, Improved when runner-up in handicap at Wexford (17.2f) in May, before seeming stretched by longer trip when seventh of 18 at Listowel (20.4f, good) the following month. Cheekpieces applied on first run for yard after leaving Declan Queally. Pick of Irish form gives her good claims on stable debut with cheekpieces now added.. |

11/2(+8%) | (6) Bob O Rhino 11/2, Winning Irish pointer who made her second handicap start over hurdles a winning one in 11-runner contest at Stratford (18.7f, good) in July, typically ridden positively. Capable of making another bold bid now that she's up and running. Off the mark at the 13th attempt latest; worth considering off 3lb higher.. |

|PU| (4) (12/1 +14%) Lady Henrietta |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Lady Henrietta 12/1, Showed more when runner-up in a Stratford bumper in July but hasn't built on that effort switched to hurdling, never a threat when sixth of 9 in novice at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) last month. Could yet do better now handicapping, though. Has yet to match her bumper promise but she enters calculations on handicap debut.. |

|PU| (9) (18/1 -13%) Dorcas Road |
18/1(-13%) | (9) Dorcas Road 18/1, Bit of promise in a bumper for Ian Williams but no better than mid-division over hurdles so far, albeit unsuited by the steady gallop on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) in June. First run for yard after leaving Lucinda Russell. Well held on handicap debut and probably best watched starting out for her new stable.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Freddie Gingell and RYDER'S ROCK struck up a good rapport with a game win in a similar event at Newton Abbot last month and must have every chance of following up from just a 3lb higher mark. Ann D'arabie sports a tongue-tie for the first time on her handicap debut for a shrewd yard and must be taken seriously. Miss Goldfire and Stratford winner Bob O Rhino are also feared.
CRYSTAL GLANCE has made a promising start to her career, getting off the mark at the second attempt at Bangor in May, so she is taken to score again with plenty more still to offer as she makes her handicap debut. Ryder's Rock gained her first success at Newton Abbot last month and could be the main danger, ahead of Miss Goldfire,
Bob O Rhino and Ryder's Rock are last-time-out winners but it might be worth chancing the well-treated WELL VICKY.

Grass's Jet |
(9) (9/1 +10%)9/1(+10%) | (9) Grass's Jet 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden who failed to meet expectations, on debut for new yard, when eighth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Bangor (23.2f, good) in June. Others more convincing. Failed to justify strong support on stable debut; not completely ruled out back in trip.. |

Trevor's Lad |
(8) (33/1 0%)33/1(0%) | (8) Trevor's Lad 33/1, Milan gelding who displayed definite promise on first of his 2 starts in novice hurdles during 2022/23 season. However, pulled up on return/handicap debut at Fontwell in April and is likely best watched back from further 6-month absemce here. Lightly raced 6yo who has his issues and others have more obvious claims.. |

1st (10) (4/9 +78%) Double Powerful |
4/9(+78%) | (10) Double Powerful 4/9, Dual winner last term who picked up where he left off, after 7-month absence, when landing 11-runner handicap hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, good to soft) 10 days ago. Can race off the same mark here and holds obvious claims. Rapidly improving 5yo, escapes a penalty for latest win; major player. |

2nd (5) (12/1 +40%) Strackan |
12/1(+40%) | (5) Strackan 12/1, In the frame on his first 2 runs over hurdles but well below that level on subsequent outings and makes limited appeal on return. Yet to make an impact in handicaps but the drop back in trip and class should help.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 +0%) Despereaux |
16/1(+0%) | (3) Despereaux 16/1, Dual hurdle winner in 2022/23 season but drew a blank in handicaps last season and no signs of a revival at Newton Abbot last month. On a dangerous mark but hard to warm to based on recent form.. |

4th (13) (17/2 0%) Robber's Bridge |
17/2(0%) | (13) Robber's Bridge 17/2, Back on scoreboard when taking 14-runner handicap hurdle over C&D (good) in July. 6 lb higher now but ought to go well again. Admirably consistent 6yo; up 6lb for Worcester win in July but sure to be involved.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (16/1 -14%) Seignor Gringo |
16/1(-14%) | (6) Seignor Gringo 16/1, Shaped better than previously for this yard when fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (25.8f, good, 12/1) in May. Return to shorter trip should suit and could play a part here. Fair fourth over 3m2f with cheekpieces added in May; the drop back in trip is a worry.. |

6th (11) (14/1 +44%) Ca Plane Pour Moi |
14/1(+44%) | (11) Ca Plane Pour Moi 14/1, Had been shaping up quite well for Colm Murphy, but yet to offer much encouragement for current yard. Stable has a much stronger candidate in Double Powerful; easy to look elsewhere.. |

|F| (4) (28/1 -12%) Sparkling Duke |
28/1(-12%) | (4) Sparkling Duke 28/1, Ran with promise on Aintree hurdles bow last October but rather went backwards thereafter and has something to prove on return to track. Cheekpieces on first time. Tailed off on handicap debut in April; needs to improve considerably for the new headgear.. |

|PU| (12) (14/1 +13%) Getuptheyard |
14/1(+13%) | (12) Getuptheyard 14/1, Back to best form when creditable fourth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) in April. Can race off same mark here but others make more appeal for win purposes. Improved since switched to handicaps but doesn't look straightforward; place claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (125/1 -150%) Commodore Miller |
125/1(-150%) | (14) Commodore Miller 125/1, Fair form at best for Nicky Henderson and was in the process of running well when departing 2 out in a Huntingdon handicap on first start for this early last year. However, proved disappointing since and is readily opposed. Soundly beaten on both completed starts for this stable; hard to make a case for.. |

A 200-day break failed to stop DOUBLE POWERFUL from completing a hat-trick when he ran away with a conditional riders' event at Kelso 10 days ago and, with back form showing he can cope with a quick turnaround between races, he could be difficult to overhaul from the same mark. Robber's Bridge was a C&D winner when last seen and is a key player if picking up where he left off in July. Midnight Jewel completes the shortlist.
DOUBLE POWERFUL extended his winning run in decisive fashion at Kelso earlier this month and carries no penalty for that victory. He should take the beating here. Robber's Bridge and Rehill Relic may give him most to think about.
Horsesomeharry is of interest on handicap debut but DOUBLE POWERFUL (nap) could prove hard to beat.
Ths is the racecard key.
