Catesby |
(7) (4/1 +43%)4/1(+43%) | (7) Catesby 4/1, C&D winner who again ran below form when eighth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 17 days ago, slowly away. Things went wrong here last time and he's drawn to attack if getting away better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Red Walls |
(11) (4/1 +11%)4/1(+11%) | (11) Red Walls 4/1, Course winner. 8/1, won 11-runner handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 5 days ago, battling well. Shortlist material. No penalty for Friday's win and needs considering under in-form 7lb claimer Ethan Jones. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
First Company |
(2) (5/1 -43%)5/1(-43%) | (2) First Company 5/1, Doubled his tally in 12-runner handicap at Kempton (6f) 42 days ago, well ridden. Can give another good account. Ended a losing run off 4lb lower six weeks ago; no obvious reason he won't go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dercol |
(3) (7/1 +56%)7/1(+56%) | (3) Dercol 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden who wasn't seen to best effect on first run since leaving Mark Loughnane when ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 18 days ago, hampered. Hood on for 1st time. Big price for his new yard back from a break recently; is entitled to come on for that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bomb Squad |
(6) (9/1 -100%)9/1(-100%) | (6) Bomb Squad 9/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in August. Good second of 12 in handicap (9/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 33 days ago, running on late. Stall 11 not ideal but still warrants respect. Has enjoyed a consistent season; stall 11 won't help; player but has a bit to overcome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Coast |
(9) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (9) Coast 12/1, C&D winner. Tenth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (13/2) 22 days ago, going off too hard. Dual C&D winner who's back on a handy mark; needs to improve on recent efforts though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Astrophysics |
(4) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (4) Astrophysics 12/1, 3-time C&D winner who possibly needed the run after 6 months off when seventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D (40/1) 17 days ago, never nearer. Not ruled out. Five-time course winner; is back on his last successful mark and should fare better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dandys Derriere |
(1) (13/2 +7%)13/2(+7%) | (1) Dandys Derriere 13/2, C&D winner. 15/2, ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 18 days ago, doing too much too soon. Better judged on previous form. Two wins and a close second to his name in three runs over 6f on Tapeta; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Monitola |
(8) (20/1 -100%)20/1(-100%) | (8) Monitola 20/1, Hooded for 1st time, seventh of 10 in handicap (25/1) at this course (5.1f) 9 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Still early days with current yard. Well held in two runs for this yard and has another wide draw; worth a look in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Princes Poet |
(5) (25/1 -79%)25/1(-79%) | (5) The Princes Poet 25/1, Respectable sixth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 66/1) 18 days ago, slowly away. Down to a career-low mark and market strength would bring him into the reckoning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Embla |
(10) (28/1 -100%)28/1(-100%) | (10) Embla 28/1, Course winner who ran a bit below form when sixth of 10 in minor event at Musselburgh (5f, good). Off 175 days. Back up in trip. Wasn't in much form when last seen in the summer; several others hold more pressing claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
FIRST COMPANY is holding his form really well at present and is well worth sticking with for now. He certainly wasn't winning out of turn at Kempton latest, after a couple of solid efforts in defeat, and if you go back to August this year, he posted a close-up third at this track too. Dandys Derriere is a C&D winner and makes plenty of each-way appeal, while Bomb Squad should run his usual honest race.
RED WALLS knuckled down well to register a first success of the year at Southwell last week and gets the nod to follow up. First Company and Bomb Squad head up the opposition.
Unpenalised Southwell winner Red Walls should go well but DANDYS DERRIERE is preferred in a minefield of a race.

Autumn Angel |
(3) (5/2 +29%)5/2(+29%) | (3) Autumn Angel 5/2, Just about better than ever when second of 11 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 5 days ago, running on. Expected to be bang there from the same mark. Good placed efforts on Tapeta the last twice; 2lb well in; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
All In The Hips |
(6) (6/1 +63%)6/1(+63%) | (6) All In The Hips 6/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 17 runs this year. Latest win at Bath in August. Eighth of 10 in handicap (100/1) at this course (5.1f) 22 days ago, though that run can be excused as she was denied a clear run. C&D winner; quiet of late but handicapped accordingly; one to note in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Warminster |
(1) (7/2 -17%)7/2(-17%) | (1) Warminster 7/2, Very good second of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 14/1) 18 days ago, clear of rest. Obvious player up 2 lb. Good 2nd at Newcastle 18 days ago; not been with up-and-coming yard long; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Nail Gunner |
(4) (8/1 +43%)8/1(+43%) | (4) The Nail Gunner 8/1, Three-time C&D winner. 20/1 and hooded for first time, tenth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f). Off 171 days. First run for yard after leaving Denis Quinn. Well treated and these conditions optimal; market instructive on stable debut after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kitbag |
(2) (11/2 -120%)11/2(-120%) | (2) Kitbag 11/2, Visored for first time, won 11-runner handicap at this C&D (7/2) 8 days ago. Carries penalty which makes things harder but he's a consistent sort. C&D win last week came in a weaker race but he did it well enough and should be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Banana |
(11) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (11) Banana 12/1, Remains a maiden after 19 Flat runs. Creditable 1½ lengths fifth of 11 to Kitbag in handicap at this C&D (15/2) 8 days ago. 19-race maiden; not beaten far over C&D last week but drawn wide and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mellys Flyer |
(5) (12/1 +40%)12/1(+40%) | (5) Mellys Flyer 12/1, Eighth of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford (6f, 50/1) 19 days ago. Lot to prove at present. C&D winner in April off 15lb higher; yet to get going for this yard and carries risk again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
One Last Hug |
(8) (16/1 -100%)16/1(-100%) | (8) One Last Hug 16/1, Three wins from 18 runs this year. 14/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 11 days ago. Back up in trip and he lurks on a dangerous mark. In good form at Newcastle of late but this track may not suit him quite so well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Balmy Breese |
(10) (25/1 -56%)25/1(-56%) | (10) Balmy Breese 25/1, Good fifth of 11 in handicap (80/1) at this C&D 44 days ago, running on. Others more persuasive. Better effort dropped to sprint trip here last month; still has time to do better at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Spinmeister |
(9) (150/1 -500%)150/1(-500%) | (9) The Spinmeister 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 150/1, last of 11 in handicap at Catterick (5f, heavy) 57 days ago. Back up in trip. Tongue strap on for first time. Little solid form and plenty to prove in a tongue tie for the first time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Those towards the summit of the weights are expected to battle it out for the victory in division two, and WARMINSTER just edges it from a good draw in stall four. He has performed well at this venue before and was beaten less than a length into second when last sighted at Newcastle. Kitbag won here recently despite racing keenly and should go well along with Autumn Angel, who hit the crossbar at Southwell latest.
WARMINSTER left a low-key stable debut well behind him when runner-up at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and he looks ready to go one place better and double his career tally. Autumn Angel found only one too good at Southwell on Friday and is an obvious threat from the same mark, with Kitbag also considered given he won last time.
Autumn Angel is ahead of the handicapper but WARMINSTER is taken to build on his recent promising second at Newcastle.

War Bride |
(11) (5/1 -67%)5/1(-67%) | (11) War Bride 5/1, Promising individual. 11/1, second of 6 in maiden at this C&D on debut 36 days ago. Should have more to offer. Second of six over C&D on last month's debut; more will be required in this deeper race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Persian Blue |
(10) (8/1 -167%)8/1(-167%) | (10) Persian Blue 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/8, fourth of 9 in minor event at Chelmsford City (6f) 16 days ago, looking a hard ride. In top hands and a hood now goes on. Looked tricky at Chelmsford latest; now tried in a hood and her second run was promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bestie |
(1) (16/1 +52%)16/1(+52%) | (1) Bestie 16/1, Eleventh of 12 in novice event at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 14/1) on debut, slowly away. Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Freddie & Martyn Meade having had a gelding operation. Too green to do himself justice in one run in May; new yard; gelded; bred to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Take Care |
(7) (150/1 -355%)150/1(-355%) | (7) Take Care 150/1, Foaled March 22. Due Diligence gelding. Dam winner up to 7f (2-y-o 6f winner). Second foal of a 6f 2yo AW/7f winner (RPR 95); drawn wide and likely best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Profitman |
(5) (200/1 -300%)200/1(-300%) | (5) Profitman 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 150/1, last of 8 in maiden at this course (8.6f) 8 days ago. Down in trip. Hooded for first time. Huge prices and well beaten in two runs at about 1m this month; hood now added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This novice event may be all about COMPLETELY RANDOM. Harry and Roger Charlton's colt improved for his Kempton debut when beaten just half a length into second here last time and, with more improvement likely, it would come as no surprise if he made it third-time lucky. War Bride lines up in receipt of weight from the selection being a filly and she ran a cracker here on debut, so is noted along with Persian Blue.
Having been heavily backed, COMPLETELY RANDOM was worn down late by another improver over C&D 18 days ago, and with further progress in the offing, he will take some stopping. War Bride and Persian Blue are the obvious threats unless the vibes are positive form debutante Dame Darcey.
Dame Darcey is a newcomer of some interest but COMPLETELY RANDOM went close over C&D 18 days ago and can get off the mark.

Palace Boy |
(2) (9/2 +63%)9/2(+63%) | (2) Palace Boy 9/2, Fair form on Flat in Germany and reached a fairly useful over hurdles for Fergal O'Brien last season, well-beaten in Supreme novices' on final start in March. Switched yards ahead of this return/handicap debut and the betting should guide. Hasn't been seen since March; hard to know what he'll be capable of for his new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Artisan Dancer |
(5) (9/4 +10%)9/4(+10%) | (5) Artisan Dancer 9/4, 3 wins from 14 runs this year. 9/5, good third of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 7 days ago, headed final 50 yds having taken a strong hold. Remains of interest from this sort of mark and drop in trip will hold no fears. Turned over as favourite on his last six runs; may just be the handicapper has him now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
First Charge |
(1) (10/1 +29%)10/1(+29%) | (1) First Charge 10/1, Course winner. Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (33/1) 32 days ago, doing well to finish as close as he did following a very slow start. Now operating from last winning mark and not discounted. Better on his second run back from a break and is on his last winning mark; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Spritzin' |
(9) (10/1 -100%)10/1(-100%) | (9) Spritzin' 10/1, Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap (16/1) at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 22 days ago, no extra final 1f. Visor on 1st time and rider takes off handy 5 lb. Behind Artisan Dancer the last twice and much hinges on how she reacts to the visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Queensland Boy |
(8) (10/3 +26%)10/3(+26%) | (8) Queensland Boy 10/3, Winner at Windsor in August. 11/2, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford (14f) 13 days ago, just no match for a couple of upwardly mobile sorts. This less demanding and he's worth considering. Solid run of form; less exposed than the rest over this trip and goes on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hurtle |
(10) (12/1 +0%)12/1(+0%) | (10) Hurtle 12/1, 22/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (12f, AW) 21 days ago, well positioned. Blinkers back on. Better behind Queensland Boy latest but this longest trip to date needs to see improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Theonlywayiswessex |
(4) (14/1 -133%)14/1(-133%) | (4) Theonlywayiswessex 14/1, 2 wins from 4 runs this year. 12/1, fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) on debut over fences 51 days ago. Fair on the Flat, respectable on last Flat run. Back on the Flat after an ordinary chasing debut last month; is one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Eloped |
(11) (15/2 +38%)15/2(+38%) | (11) Eloped 15/2, Winner here in September. 16/1, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time but her mark looks about right. Ideally needs to settle better than last time, now in first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bobby Shaftoe |
(7) (18/1 -50%)18/1(-50%) | (7) Bobby Shaftoe 18/1, 4 wins from 16 runs this year. Latest win at Newcastle in November. Eighth of 12 in handicap (17/2) at Southwell (16.5f) 6 days ago, badly hampered by weakening rival over 3f out and not recover. Not discounted. Four-time Newcastle winner who's making his course debut; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Painless Potter |
(6) (66/1 -313%)66/1(-313%) | (6) Painless Potter 66/1, 33/1, 11¾ lengths tenth of 11 to Bobby Shaftoe in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f) 40 days ago, hampered inside final 1f. Others preferred back up in trip. Poor in two runs for this yard; would want to see good support before considering him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Nelson River |
(12) (150/1 -838%)150/1(-838%) | (12) Nelson River 150/1, Course winner. Sixth of 10 in handicap chase at Leicester (20.1f, good to soft, 28/1). Off 12 months. Modest on the Flat, poor on last Flat run. Dual course winner who hasn't been seen since tailed off over fences a year ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Man Of Riddles |
(3) (150/1 -500%)150/1(-500%) | (3) Man Of Riddles 150/1, Course winner. 100/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 40 days ago, fading from 2f out. Best watched at present. Little in three runs for this yard off the back of a year-long absence; had wind surgery. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Runner-up on three of his last four starts, including twice over C&D, ARTISAN DANCER deserves a change in luck, and he can get that on this occasion in what looks a winnable contest. Despite a difficult wide draw, he can see off the likes of old rival Spritzin' and Theonlywayiswessex, who could be back on a workable mark. Others to note include Eloped, Palace Boy and Queensland Boy.
A winner at Windsor during the summer, QUEENSLAND BOY has continued the good work on AW in recent months, finishing a good third in a stronger contest at Chelmsford 13 days ago. He gets the nod to come out on top down in grade, with Artisan Dancer and Spritzin' next best. First Charge is another worth keeping an eye on from his sliding mark.
Queensland Boy is solid but FIRST CHARGE is on his last winning mark and more than capable if getting one of his better breaks.

Dam, maiden (stayed 8.5f), half-sister to smart 2-y-o 6f winner Moohaajim out of useful 2-y-o 7f winner (stayed 1¼m) Thiella. Not badly bred and worth a market check on debut. |

Dam winner up to 7f (Dubai Duty Free (Fred Darling) Stakes winner and also 2-y-o 5f winner). Plenty of winners in his pedigree and makes debut for powerful stable. |

Dam, maiden (best effort at 8.5f), out of half-sister to Dubai World Cup winner Moon Ballad. 200/1, thirteenth of 14 in novice at Chelmsford City (10f) on debut 13 days ago. Little show at 200-1 on debut at Chelmsford two weeks ago; hard to fancy on that evidence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BRODIE'S BOY improved from first to second start when narrowly denied at Lingfield earlier in the month and stepping up in trip should bring about further progress as he looks to get off the mark. A promising third over shorter at Dundalk last time out, Gesture is of interest on his first start on these shores, while L'Eagle Aid is another to note after beginning his career with a pair of respectable placed efforts.
HEET is a half-brother to a couple of useful winners so is taken to make a winning start in what looks an ordinary maiden. Lady of Spain is another interesting newcomer, while Green Keeper and Organic both offered something to work on first-time out.
Brodie's Boy, Gesture and L'Eagle Aid are solid but there's a chance the well-bred GREEN KEEPER can improve past them all.

Less exposed than most he meets here and big shout under a penalty. C&D winner nine days ago; open to further improvement; high on the shortlist under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Weloof |
(5) (8/1 -220%)8/1(-220%) | (5) Weloof 8/1, C&D winner. 6/5, creditable second of 10 in handicap at this C&D 9 days ago, headway when forced to switch final 1f and keeping on. Of interest again from this mark, particularly if the betting speaks in his favour. Short price down to 0-55 company over C&D nine days ago; consistent for his age; player. |

Panama City |
(3) (10/3 +58%)10/3(+58%) | (3) Panama City 10/3, Latest win at Newcastle in November. 9/2, respectable third of 12 in handicap back there (1m) 19 days ago, doing well to finish where he did having pulled way to the front after 1f. Hood goes on now. Two solid efforts at Newcastle recently; claims if he settles better in a first-time hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kodebreaker |
(6) (11/2 +39%)11/2(+39%) | (6) Kodebreaker 11/2, 9/1, creditable 1¾ lengths third of 10 to Advantage in handicap at this C&D 9 days ago. Not taken lightly. Third to Advantage over C&D latest; entitled to at least close the gap on 6lb better terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Optik |
(10) (11/1 -22%)11/1(-22%) | (10) Optik 11/1, 2/1, bit below form fifth of 11 in minor event at this course (12.2f), needing stronger gallop. Off 161 days. Down in trip. Blinkers back on. Expensive to follow; back down in trip after a break from a wide stall tonight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Boujee Gold |
(4) (14/1 -100%)14/1(-100%) | (4) Boujee Gold 14/1, 20/1, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this C&D 43 days ago, produced to lead 1f out and always holding on. This rates tougher but he's less exposed than most he meets here. This looks a better race than C&D win but there may be more to come upped a fair 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ice Shadow |
(2) (15/2 +6%)15/2(+6%) | (2) Ice Shadow 15/2, Latest win at Newcastle in October. Good second of 12 in handicap back at that venue (1m) 19 days ago, headed final 50 yds and no extra. Should continue in form. Well drawn for one happiest on the sharp end and hard to knock him out of the equation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Espresso Freddo |
(7) (20/1 -25%)20/1(-25%) | (7) Espresso Freddo 20/1, Course winner. Ninth of 11 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, heavy, 4/1) 65 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Adrian Wintle. Blinkers on 1st time. Switches from a visor to first-time blinkers for another new yard; is worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ashmore |
(8) (25/1 -56%)25/1(-56%) | (8) Ashmore 25/1, 8/1 and hooded for 1st time, first run since leaving David Menuisier when tenth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 22 days ago, slowly away and always behind. Needs to show more positive signs before becoming of interest. Didn't offer enough for his new yard over C&D three weeks ago to be considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rebelle Lady |
(9) (80/1 -400%)80/1(-400%) | (9) Rebelle Lady 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eleventh of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) in September, hanging right 2f out and weakening. Absent since and the betting should prove a useful guide here. Too soon to write her off but would want to see market interest before considering her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Broomy Law |
(12) (125/1 -279%)125/1(-279%) | (12) Broomy Law 125/1, Remains a maiden after 27 Flat runs. Tenth of 11 in handicap (125/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 47 days ago, dropping away over 2f out. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Poor, regressive maiden who hasn't gone close to making the frame in a long time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for BOUJEE GOLD after a determined success over C&D last month, there should be plenty more to come from the daughter of Garswood as she looks to follow up. That may be at the main expense of fellow recent C&D winner Advantage, who has a 6lb penalty to overcome, and capable Newcastle runner-up Ice Shadow. Kodebreaker and Weloof enter the reckoning as well.
ADVANTAGE got off the mark with a bit to spare on just his second start in handicaps over C&D 9 days ago and, with the prospect of more to come from David O'Meara's 3-y-o, he could well be the way to go under a penalty. Weloof was gambled on and ran well when second here latest and he's feared, particularly if the market speaks in his favour again. Kodebreaker and Ice Shadow complete the shortlist.
The lightly raced ADVANTAGE (nap) is fancied to confirm recent C&D dominance over Kodebreaker despite the penalty.

Goldsmith |
(3) (3/1 -20%)3/1(-20%) | (3) Goldsmith 3/1, 11/2, again shaped well when second of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 7 days ago, conceding first run. Looks one to keep on the right side of. Best form has come at Lingfield, including last week's 1m2f 2nd; can he reproduce it here?. |

Outgun |
(2) (5/2 +58%)5/2(+58%) | (2) Outgun 5/2, 11/1, fell second in juvenile at Kempton (16f, good) on hurdling debut in October. Makes tapeta debut. Can get back on track. Has shown clear winning potential on the Flat; early casualty on hurdle debut; contender. |

Charlie's Choice |
(9) (7/2 +56%)7/2(+56%) | (9) Charlie's Choice 7/2, Showed a bit more than previously when fifth of 8 in handicap (4/1) at Newcastle (12.4f) in October, meeting some trouble last ½f. Down in trip. Unexposed 3yo but not sure to appreciate today's drop in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Phantasy Mac |
(1) (11/2 -10%)11/2(-10%) | (1) Phantasy Mac 11/2, Course winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 6/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 16 days ago, well positioned. Certainly not dismissed. Yet to win this year but she's been threatening of late; rider good value for a 7lb claim. |

Lunarscape |
(6) (12/1 -100%)12/1(-100%) | (6) Lunarscape 12/1, Confirmed return to form when second of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f, 11/2) 11 weeks ago, caught further back than ideal. First run for yard after leaving Eve Johnson Houghton (15,000 gns). Not taken lightly. 2nd twice over 1m in October; new yard quick to up her in trip; could still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Snooze Lane |
(10) (15/2 +6%)15/2(+6%) | (10) Snooze Lane 15/2, C&D winner. 15/2, fared better down a touch in grade when third of 12 in handicap at this course (8.6f) just over 3 weeks ago. Must build on that now. Conditions to suit, on a good mark and returned to form here last time; up in class now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Awtaad Prince |
(5) (33/1 -32%)33/1(-32%) | (5) Awtaad Prince 33/1, 28/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 12 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Easy enough to look elsewhere on recent evidence. Tumbling down the weights but with some justification; tongue-strap absent today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Secret Sauce |
(11) (33/1 -371%)33/1(-371%) | (11) Secret Sauce 33/1, Well held in juvenile hurdle (12/1) at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) 5 months ago, going in snatches. Makes tapeta debut. Warrants a market check back on the level (has had a breathing operation). Let down by jumping over hurdles this summer; had a wind op; opposable back on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Malacanne |
(8) (40/1 -150%)40/1(-150%) | (8) Malacanne 40/1, 16/1, looked rusty after 12 weeks off when eighth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) 68 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving John Patrick Murtagh. Worth a second look in the market. Had some solid AW form for Johnny Murtagh; stamina for this trip not yet assured. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Robert Walpole |
(4) (100/1 -203%)100/1(-203%) | (4) Robert Walpole 100/1, 80/1, last of 8 in handicap at this course (12.2f) 18 days ago. Back down in trip. Blinkered for 1st time. Struggled for new yard after one year off; too much to prove despite reduced mark/blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Still Standing |
(7) (125/1 -400%)125/1(-400%) | (7) Still Standing 125/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2021. Again made little impact when fifth of 6 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft, 16/1) just over 6 weeks ago. Fair on the Flat, respectable on last run. Not at best on Flat for new yard and November's hurdle efforts modest; others are safer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GOLDSMITH was only narrowly denied over 1m2f at Lingfield a week ago and the four-year-old is very hard to oppose as he can race off a 1lb lower here. Phantasy Mac has filled third place on her last three starts and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Outgun and Lunarscape also merit places on the shortlist.
GOLDSMITH has been knocking at the door of late and Alice Haynes' charge is fancied to go one better than at Lingfield last week at the expense of Lunarscape, who has hit the crossbar on her last couple of starts and may have to settle for another silver medal on first start for this yard. Phantasy Mac and Outgun can fight out minor honours.
Lunarscape could improve for today's longer trip but OUTGUN can surely win races at this level and this could be his day to shine.

(3) (3/1 +57%)3/1(+57%) | (3) Victors Dream 3/1, 11/2, respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 6 days ago. One for the shortlist. 0-10 and proving expensive to follow; well drawn but others appeal more for the win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Katar |
(8) (5/1 +0%)5/1(+0%) | (8) Katar 5/1, Remains a maiden after 22 Flat runs but he posted a good second of 12 in handicap at this course (6.1f, 4/1) 17 days ago. Not taken lightly. Exposed maiden but he's been banging at the door and should give it another good go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Aconcagua Mountain |
(1) (6/1 +25%)6/1(+25%) | (1) Aconcagua Mountain 6/1, Latest win at Ayr in September. 9/2, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 35 days ago. This C&D winner needs considering. Conditions to suit, down in grade & on a handy mark; more appealing than many in here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gustav Graves |
(10) (7/2 +30%)7/2(+30%) | (10) Gustav Graves 7/2, Course winner who was forced to switch late when neck second of 10 to Rhubarb in handicap at this C&D 9 days ago. Another bold showing is on the cards eased 1 lb. Tricky customer but went close here last week & should be arriving on the scene late again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lil Wade |
(9) (11/1 +21%)11/1(+21%) | (9) Lil Wade 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in handicap at this course (6.1f, 7/1) 8 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Placed behind Doctor Mozart here on handicap debut; no improvement for 6f last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rhubarb |
(7) (12/1 -200%)12/1(-200%) | (7) Rhubarb 12/1, Won 10-runner handicap (7/1) at this C&D 9 days ago by neck from Gustav Graves, getting first run. Can go well again under a 5 lb penalty with cheekpieces on for 1st time. 6lb worse off for a neck with Gustav Graves on last week's C&D run; cheekpieces now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sherdil |
(11) (13/2 +59%)13/2(+59%) | (11) Sherdil 13/2, Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. 14/1, only eighth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 11 days ago so needs a couple of these to falter. Should be well treated but he checked out quite tamely at Newcastle last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cuban Grey |
(2) (17/2 +15%)17/2(+15%) | (2) Cuban Grey 17/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Brighton in September. 50/1, back on song when third of 12 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 17 days ago. Can give a good account. Patchy record but capable off this mark and well drawn if breaking on terms (not assured). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Daley T |
(4) (66/1 -164%)66/1(-164%) | (4) Daley T 66/1, Last of 6 in handicap at Brighton (5.3f, good to soft, 50/1). Off 107 days with work to do. Inconsistent maiden; yet to beat a rival in 2 runs for this yard; down in grade but risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Captain Bentley |
(6) (100/1 -300%)100/1(-300%) | (6) Captain Bentley 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, last of 8 in minor event at this C&D 62 days ago. Makes handicap debut with more required. Even peak effort looks of dubious merit & he's opposable from a wide draw on h'cap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Rhubarb will do well to confirm form with Gustav Graves, who was a neck second to Richard Price's mare over C&D nine days ago but is better off at these weights. That said, preference is for KATAR, who hit the crossbar over 6f here earlier in the month and the drop in trip could help him to go one better off the same mark.
Plenty with chances but GUSTAV GRAVES looked unlucky not to score over C&D last time so this course winner gets the nod off a 1 lb lower mark here. C&D scorer Doctor Mozart has enjoyed a good year and seems sure to be in the mix once more with in-form pair Katar and Rhubarb both firmly in the picture too.
The tricky Gustav Graves can go well again but this is a slight ease in grade for ACONCAGUA MOUNTAIN and he can capitalise.
Ths is the racecard key.
