15/8(+25%) | (1) Havana Sky 15/8, Five wins from 11 runs this year, completing 4-timer when landing 7-runner handicap at this C&D (13/2) 6 days ago. Carries penalty but can make a bold bid to extend his winning sequence. Thriving at present; widest stall/penalty to deal with in bid for a five-timer; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Raced freely back up in trip when sixth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 22/1) 37 days ago, so she could fare better returned to this shorter distance. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (22/1 -120%) Collusion |
22/1(-120%) | (4) Collusion 22/1, Improved when second at Yarmouth (6f) on handicap debut, but not in same form when sixth of 9 at Nottingham (5f, soft, 7/2) 58 days ago (gelded since). |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 +0%) State Of Madness |
12/1(+0%) | (9) State Of Madness 12/1, Remains a maiden but ran well when third of 9 in handicap at this course (5.1f, 11/4) 18 days ago, slowly away and bumped start. 9th (8) (20/1 -43%) Lion Ring |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Lion Ring 20/1, Made it 4 wins from 5 starts when scoring at Chelmsford City in October. Shaped as if back in form when fourth of 10 in handicap at this course (5.1f, 11/1) 13 days ago, facing competition for the lead. Not ruled out. Four AW wins this autumn; not beaten far here last time but others are more appealing here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (20/1 -25%) El Hibri |
20/1(-25%) | (3) El Hibri 20/1, Three wins from 15 runs this year, with latest success at Chelmsford City in May. However, form has gone the wrong way since, eighth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 14/1) 17 days ago. 18/1(-29%) | (2) It's Showtime 18/1, Sole success at Lingfield in May. After just 6 days off, below form when eighth of 11 in handicap at Newmarket (5f, good to soft, 25/1) 56 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (200/1 -506%) Himawari |
200/1(-506%) | (10) Himawari 200/1, Has finished well held both starts since leaving Marco Botti, in first-time cheekpieces when last of 8 in handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good, 40/1) in August. Has enough to prove to prove after 4 months off. Well beaten in two turf runs for her new yard; back from a break with headgear left off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Having won his last four races with more in hand than the winning margins may have suggested, HAVANA SKY has gone from strength to strength since reverting to the all-weather and a fifth consecutive success could be within his reach, despite him being 18lb above his mark when the winning run started last month. Fellow last-time-out winner Southbank commands respect under a 6lb penalty, while Apache Star lurks on a dangerous rating and cannot be ruled out on these terms.
HAVANA SKY has thrived since the headgear has been removed, making it 4 wins in a row when scoring over C&D last week, and he is taken to add to his tally in his current form. Southbank also carries a penalty and isn't taken lightly after his easy success at Chelmsford 8 days ago, with Outer Edge completing the shortlist.
The thriving Havana Sky isn't opposed lightly despite stall 12 but SOUTHBANK won easily last week and he can follow up.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (50/1 -150%) Yellow Card |
50/1(-150%) | (9) Yellow Card 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. 200/1, sixth of 8 in novice at Southwell (8.1f) 13 days ago, pulling hard and never on terms. No real encouragement in two AW runs, 200-1 when sixth of eight at Southwell on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

22/1(-83%) | (5) Mckenna 22/1, Kodi Bear gelding. Half-brother to 12.4f winner Yakhabar. Definite promise when fifth on debut in a Lingfield maiden (1m) at the start of the month and whilst he failed to build on that at Kempton 16 days ago, he appeals as the type to make his mark when handicapping. Just modest form at Lingfield and Kempton; may be of more interest when tackling handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (22/1 -38%) Love You More |

40/1(-60%) | (6) Ta Craic Ann 40/1, Twice-raced maiden. 250/1, showed more than first time up when sixth of 11 in maiden at Lingfield (1m, AW) 24 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (22/1 -38%) Ventura Dream |
22/1(-38%) | (8) Ventura Dream 22/1, Twice-raced maiden. Went backwards from debut when sixth of 8 in novice at Southwell (7.1f, 18/1) 17 days ago, hampered 4f out and never a threat. Low-grade handicaps will be more his thing. Didn't build on debut run when only sixth at Southwell but he's not discounted here. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (80/1 -300%) Ancient State |
80/1(-300%) | (1) Ancient State 80/1, Foaled March 19. Dandy Man colt. Half-brother to winner abroad Briery Boy. Dam 7f winner. Dandy Man half-brother to a winner in Serbia; stable is 1-39 with 2yos since 2020. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CLUSTER ONE, who cost 80,000 euro as a yearling and is a half-brother to four winners on a variety of surfaces, runs for a yard with an impeccable record in juvenile races this year and could be well placed to make a winning debut. Enacting has hinted at ability and, having shown some improvement from his Kempton debut when upped to 1m at Lingfield, James Fashawe's colt rates the pick of those with experience. Ancient State is another interesting newcomer to consider.
ENACTING proved much sharper with his debut effort under his belt when fourth in a Lingfield novice (1m) 44 days ago and with further progress possible, he gets the nod to come out on top. Purple Rainbow and Cluster One are a couple of appealing newcomers from leading yards and may emerge as the chief threats.
Purple Rainbow and Cluster One are interesting newcomers but ENACTING is taken to continue his progress and get off the mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CITY OF GOD, who cost 135,000gns as a yearling, is yet another notable two-year-old form the Karl Burke yard to take seriously on his racecourse bow. A half-brother to a 7f juvenile winner, the son of Kodiac ticks the right boxes on paper and could be worth chancing in a race where those with experience don't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. Best Rate could be the pick of those, although March To The Band and Stage Winner are potential improvers to consider.
BEST RATE has been shaping up nicely and can open his account if not stymied by a wide draw. Stage Winner should have more to offer, while Rogue Dynasty can probably find a race.
The vote goes to STAGE WINNER, whose debut effort has substance. Interesting newcomer City Of God is second choice.

10th (9) (250/1 -150%) Spuddling |
250/1(-150%) | (9) Spuddling 250/1, Little show in minor event/maidens. Best watched. Modest form in two completed starts; minor handicaps will prove more suitable after this.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
JOSEPH has shown promise on both previous starts and the son of Earthlight could be hard to beat in a race of this nature. Merchant hit the crossbar over a mile at Newcastle last time and could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although Mallorca is a son of Dar Re Mi and the well-bred newcomer should not be underestimated.
MERCHANT left his debut form well behind when finishing runner-up at Newcastle earlier this month and, with further improvement in the pipeline, William Haggas' colt gets the nod to make it third time lucky. There are a few well-bred newcomers in opposition however, with Mallorca, Pebble Island and Hachiman looking the pick of those before the benefit of market clues.
Joseph should appreciate the longer trip but MERCHANT looked a surefire future winner when second at Newcastle 24 days ago.

18/1(-80%) | (5) Mount Olympus 18/1, Temperamental for Eve Johnson Houghton but thrived for a yard switch last term, winning 3 of his 5 starts on the Flat. Minor promise in couple of hurdle outings in the autumn but disappointing on two most recent flat outings following wind surgery. Lost his way either side of a wind op last winter; needs a career-best off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (5/1 +0%) Destinado |
5/1(+0%) | (4) Destinado 5/1, Often slowly away. Improved on recent efforts to win handicap at Lingfield in November. Held his form when back up in trip (fourth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f) and again when finishing well from off the pace having dwelt at start at Southwell (12.1f) last week. Course winner can go well. Eight wins this year; latest third in a race not run to suit showed him still competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (11/1 -10%) Le Rouge Chinois |
11/1(-10%) | (6) Le Rouge Chinois 11/1, Confirmed return to form when fifth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) but appeared to have very little in hand from this mark when last of 5 in handicap at Southwell (16.5f) 14 days ago. Looked to have no excuses from the front in a small field latest; others make more appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (8/1 +33%) Bulldog Spirit |
8/1(+33%) | (8) Bulldog Spirit 8/1, Latest win at Haydock (14f) in August. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f, 9/1) 17 days ago. Each-way possibilities. Been below his best in a couple of starts back on the AW; needs a revival. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CURRUMBIN bolted up over 1m6f at Southwell last week and the three-year-old merits the utmost respect as a 6lb penalty may still underestimated him. Green Team was second over C&D when last seen and is likely to be in the mix once again off the same mark. Two Auld Pals edges out Percy Jones and Destinado to be best of the rest.
CURRUMBIN won with authority on stable debut eight days ago and he can follow up under a penalty. Consistent-performer Destinado should be thereabouts along with Two Auld Pals who ran well here on his last Flat outing.
The step up from 1m in a hood has been the making of CURRUMBIN. Prolific winner Destinado rates the main danger.

1st (2) (5/2 -11%) Michaela's Boy |
5/2(-11%) | (2) Michaela's Boy 5/2, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022 but he shaped well for his current yard when second of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 48 days ago. Weighted to go close. Best run for new yard when front-running 2nd at Chelmsford 7 weeks ago; claims with repeat. |

2nd (4) (1/1 +43%) Existent |
1/1(+43%) | (4) Existent 1/1, C&D winner. Thirty runs since last win in 2022. 5/4, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 22 days ago. Can give a good account. No excuses when 3rd at Chelmsford on this month's return to AW (strong fav); e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (50/1 -213%) Strong Power |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Strong Power 50/1, Course winner. 100/1, last of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 18 days ago. Twenty three runs since his last win in 2022. Down in weights; huge prices and no impact in two AW runs this winter; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 +58%) Bang On The Bell |
5/1(+58%) | (6) Bang On The Bell 5/1, 4-time C&D winner who wasn't disgraced when fifth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 12/1) 22 days ago. Back to a potentially lenient mark. Conditons to suit; edging down weights & latest run a bit better than bare figures; claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (17/2 +15%) Pure Angel |
17/2(+15%) | (5) Pure Angel 17/2, C&D winner in 2022 but lightly raced since and only eighth of 10 on the back of a wind op in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 48 days ago. Needs to take a big step forward. Unexposed 4yo; C&D winner; sharper for last month's return from long absence; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/1 -83%) One Night Stand |
11/1(-83%) | (1) One Night Stand 11/1, C&D winner, latest win here in November. Eighth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 18 days ago so needs to bounce back. Not at best last time but conditions suit and he's capable off this mark; drawn widest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (12/1 -71%) King Of Stars |
12/1(-71%) | (3) King Of Stars 12/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2021 but hinted at a revival when fifth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 18 days ago. Needs considering. Solid effort from the front over C&D 18 days ago; other pace here but should go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EXISTENT was only beaten a length when third over this trip at Chelmsford on his most recent outing and the son of Kingman tops the shortlist off the same mark here. Michaela's Boy also arrives with very strong form claims following his close second last time, while King Of Stars and Bang On The Bell appear best of the rest.
MICHAELA'S BOY is fancied to build on a promising Chelmsford City second for his current yard and end a losing sequence off a handy-looking mark. King of Stars could emerge as the main danger if, as expected, taking a step forward from his recent C&D fifth. C&D scorers Bang On The Bell and Existent can also have a say in a competitive sprint.
This should be well run and the unexposed PURE ANGEL (nap) is taken to leave her reappearance behind her. Existent is next best.

1st (5) (8/1 +11%) Moon Over The Sea |
8/1(+11%) | (5) Moon Over The Sea 8/1, C&D winner. Respectable fifth of 12 at this course (9.5f) 18 days ago, left poorly placed. Back up in trip. Enters calculations. Three-time course winner who hasn't had much luck in two starts back from a break; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1/1 +43%) Come On John |
1/1(+43%) | (3) Come On John 1/1, Course winner. Latest win at Southwell (11f) in October. Placed all 3 outings since and should go well again for the excellent James Owen stable. Turned over at short prices three times since his Southwell win; needs to find a bit more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 -43%) Letmeseethecolts |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Letmeseethecolts 10/1, 14/1, good second of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (12.5f) 15 days ago. That was her first outing in 6 months so she may come on for it. Better since upped to this trip; low mileage compared to most of these and one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (12/1 -41%) Rubellite |
12/1(-41%) | (11) Rubellite 12/1, Course winner. Bit below form fourth of 11 in handicap (7/2) at Newcastle (1m) 60 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Looks competitive on form. Has only been this far twice (both C&D), when not looking to see it out; stamina the worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 +20%) Rose Light |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Rose Light 16/1, One win from 25 starts. 16/1, seventh of 10 over C&D 18 days ago, not ideally placed. Others more persuasive. C&D seventh earlier in the month was nothing exciting; needs to improve a deal on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/1 -57%) Starfighter |
11/1(-57%) | (2) Starfighter 11/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Good third of 10 over C&D 11 days ago. Can give a good account. Usually gives his running round here; is one to consider under 7lb claimer Mason Paetel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +8%) Sneaky Blinder |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Sneaky Blinder 11/1, 13/2, fifth of 11 in handicap at this course (9.5f) 36 days ago. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Has work to do. Yet to convince on the stamina front over this far and a wide stall won't help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (33/1 -32%) Duchess |
33/1(-32%) | (12) Duchess 33/1, 20/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Kempton 53 days ago. Others arrive with more pressing claims. Break won't have hurt, but she'll need to improve on recent efforts from the outside stall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (14/1 +0%) Where Is The Love |
14/1(+0%) | (9) Where Is The Love 14/1, Eleventh of 12 in handicap at Southwell 55 days ago. First-time visor replaces cheekpieces. C&D fourth in October better than it looked; subsequent Southwell blowout needs forgiving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (66/1 -371%) Desejada |
66/1(-371%) | (4) Desejada 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 10 over C&D (25/1) 63 days ago. Improvement needed and could only consider if backed. Still to show much; would want to see some support this time before considering her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (40/1 -186%) Pittsburg |
40/1(-186%) | (8) Pittsburg 40/1, 14/1, below form fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Catterick (2m, good) 10 days ago. Modest on the Flat, respectable fifth over C&D on last Flat outing in October. Big price when behind Rose Light over C&D in the autumn and only holds outside claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (10/1 +0%) Sassy Glory |
10/1(+0%) | (10) Sassy Glory 10/1, Creditable third of 11 in handicap (12/1) at this course (9.5f) 6 days ago. Back up in trip. Won't mind going back up in trip from a handy stall; no obvious reason she won't go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
COME ON JOHN deserves to get his head in front again as he's held his form really well since scoring at Southwell in October. He boasts good form at this track too and gets the nod ahead of Starfighter, an experienced C&D winner who showed a bit more when third here last time. Throw Letmeseethecolts into the mix as well.
COME ON JOHN has held his form really well of late and can provide James Owen with yet another winner. Low-mileage 3-y-o Letmeseethecolts might step forward on her recent comeback run and is second choice ahead of Moon Over The Sea and Starfighter.
Starfighter can go well but LETMESEETHECOLTS made a solid return from a break recently and should have a bit of improvement in her.

1st (10) (10/1 +0%) Finn Russell |
10/1(+0%) | (10) Finn Russell 10/1, Unreliable type. Course winner. Latest win at Carlisle in August. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW, 11/2) 44 days ago. Capable off this mark on his fay but can be a hard ride. Won twice here last year and is handily drawn for a potential front-runner; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 +39%) Master Of Combat |
11/4(+39%) | (2) Master Of Combat 11/4, 4-time course winner. Latest win here in September. Respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 11/4) 13 days ago. Merits consideration. Four-time course winner; has won over this trip but could argue he's best over shorter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/1 +36%) Visibility |
9/1(+36%) | (8) Visibility 9/1, Tricky customer. 6-time course winner. Seventh of 11 in handicap at this course (8.6f, 22/1) 7 days ago. Can't be completely ruled out. Has to improve on recent runs but the step back up in trip won't hurt in an open handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 +0%) Young Fire |
12/1(+0%) | (6) Young Fire 12/1, Course winner. Latest win at York in September. 22/1, respectable sixth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 18 days ago, nearest finish. Needs things to drop right. Now 2lb lower than when winning at York in September and holds each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 -65%) Youarenotforgiven |
14/1(-65%) | (1) Youarenotforgiven 14/1, 25/1, bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 16 days ago, left poorly placed. Significantly up in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Not discounted. Can miss the break and will need some luck if dropped in as usual from a wide stall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/1 -211%) Palazzo Persico |
7/1(-211%) | (9) Palazzo Persico 7/1, Visored for 1st time, career best when winning 12-runner handicap (9/1) at Chelmsford City (10f) 22 days ago, keeping on well. Big player if the headgear continues to have a positive effect. Three-time Polytrack winner who hasn't shone in four Tapeta runs; that's the main question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (10/3 +58%) English Spirit |
10/3(+58%) | (11) English Spirit 10/3, 5-time course winner. Latest win here in October. Shaped as if still in form when sixth of 10 in handicap at this course (8.6f, 11/4) 53 days ago. Very much remains of interest. Landed a fifth win here when going in over C&D off 5lb lower in October; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (18/1 -13%) L'ennemi |
18/1(-13%) | (12) L'ennemi 18/1, Last of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 25/1) 57 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Others make more appeal. Hard-pulling maiden who's struggled in handicaps for this yard; has it all to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (10/1 -11%) Timetobenice |
10/1(-11%) | (4) Timetobenice 10/1, 6/1, last of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 24 days ago. Shaped well on penultimate outing and isn't one to be writing off. Hit traffic when not beaten far over C&D last month; wouldn't be a shock were he to pop up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (25/1 +11%) Bizarre Law |
25/1(+11%) | (3) Bizarre Law 25/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 33/1, first run since leaving Andrew Balding when eighth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 18 days ago. Uphill task. No signs of a revival when well held for new yard over C&D recently (behind Young Fire). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (22/1 -57%) Sense Of Worth |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Sense Of Worth 22/1, 10/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f) 8 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Fine with this trip when second twice over C&D early in the year; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (40/1 -100%) Jacques Cartier |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Jacques Cartier 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1 and hooded for 1st time, first run since leaving Simon & Ed Crisford when last of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (14f) 22 days ago. Hard to fancy. Ex-Crisford maiden who was picked up for 6,500gns in September; comes right down in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PALAZZO PERSICO won with a bit in hand over a similar trip at Chelmsford latest and connections have found their gelding another very winnable opening as he bids for a double. He might not need to improve much in order to land the spoils, although C&D winner Master Of Combat could go well back at this venue following his latest Southwell fourth. Keep an eye on Youarenotforgiven too.
ENGLISH SPIRIT scored in good style here in October and was undone by a wide trip last time so, following a short break, he's fancied to resume winning ways at the possible expense of Palazzo Persico, who clicked in a first-time visor recently. Master of Combat is also respected.
Plenty to consider in an open race, headed by TIMETOBENICE, who gets the nod. Finn Russell and English Spirit are feared most.

1st (9) (5/2 +29%) Forever Proud |
5/2(+29%) | (9) Forever Proud 5/2, Three wins from 17 runs this year, the latest at Chelmsford in December. Good second of 11 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 6 days ago and she's likely to be on the premises once again under her penalty. Chelmsford winner and a close 2nd over C&D the last twice; should be involved again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 +56%) Al Baahy |
7/2(+56%) | (1) Al Baahy 7/2, One win from 33 Flat runs. 9/2, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at this course (7.2f) 18 days ago. Back up in trip and he's not without an each-way chance. Poor strike-rate but often runs well and this is a slight ease in grade; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/3 +39%) Port Noir |
10/3(+39%) | (2) Port Noir 10/3, Six-time course winner. 3 wins from 28 runs this year, the latest here in October. Good second of 11 in handicap back here (9.5f, 4/1) 6 days ago, pulling clear of the rest. Solid claims. Two course wins in October and she's held her form well since; set to be bang there again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (11/1 -120%) Rising Force |
11/1(-120%) | (10) Rising Force 11/1, Latest win at Chelmsford in December. 7/1, good neck second of 12 to Forever Proud in handicap over a mile at the same course 8 days ago. Encountered traffic problems at a crucial stage on that occasion and he has a good chance of reversing the placing with Forever Proud on these terms. Comes here in top form and he should make another bold bid under suitable conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (20/1 -43%) Storm Asset |
20/1(-43%) | (12) Storm Asset 20/1, Course winner. Twenty-one runs since last win in 2023. 14/1, last of 11 in handicap at this C&D 6 days ago. Probably best to look elsewhere. Needs to bounce back from a poor run here last week but that's quite possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (20/1 -11%) Mr Slicker |
20/1(-11%) | (11) Mr Slicker 20/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 7 days ago. This veteran will need to find improvement from somewhere if he's to emerge on top. Engaged 5.40 here Thursday. Close fourth at Southwell last week but no excuses over 7f here yesterday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 -39%) Ashford Hill |
25/1(-39%) | (7) Ashford Hill 25/1, Winner at Lingfield in November. 11/4, below form fourth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 24 days ago. Back up in trip and she's likely to again find a few too good. Shock win at Lingfield last month (7f); less good in her follow up bid 24 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (4/1 +53%) Plumette |
4/1(+53%) | (5) Plumette 4/1, Five-time course winner. Twenty-four runs since last win in 2023. 13/8, tenth of 11 in handicap at this course (7.2f) 11 days ago, not clear run. Remains one to be interested in and this step back up in trip will be no bad thing. Met major traffic issues here 11 days ago & still looked in form; more appealing than many. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -267%) Twistaline |
33/1(-267%) | (8) Twistaline 33/1, C&D winner. Good third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 14/1) 14 days ago, having run of race. That represented a step back in the right direction but it remains to be seen if she'll be be able to build on that. Back in form when a close 3rd at Southwell two weeks ago; C&D winner; capable of a big run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
FOREVER PROUD won at Chelmsford recently and almost followed up just two days later at this venue. Over the same C&D as that second-placed effort, when beaten less than a length, the James Owen inmate is taken to strike. Port Noir is a model of consistency and won't go down without a fight, while another to be interested in is Plumette.
RISING FORCE looked unlucky when narrowly failing to get to grips with Forever Proud at Chelmsford City recently and, granted better luck-in-running this time, Robert Eddery's charge can resume winning ways. Forever Proud lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at the same course since and should give another good account, while his lightly-raced stablemate Jaamir and Port Noir also merit respect. However, Plumette, who also encountered traffic problems on her latest start, is feared most.
No obvious pace on the cards and FOREVER PROUD is only tentatively preferred to Rising Force and Plumette.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
