5/1(+17%) | (4) Carry On Aitch 5/1, 11/1, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 18 days ago. Well treated if she can return to her best form. Modest maiden who needs to raise her game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (18/1 +36%) Zing Up |
18/1(+36%) | (6) Zing Up 18/1, First run since leaving Andrew Oliver when seventh of 8 in handicap (22/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 18 days ago. Ex-Irish filly who isn't solid on overall form; second run for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5/1 +64%) Rewilding |
5/1(+64%) | (9) Rewilding 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 4½ lengths fourth of 8 to Wedgewood in handicap (5/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 38 days ago. Looks limited on early evidence. Made an encouraging reappearance and should build on that effort; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4.5/1 +55%) Wedgewood |
4.5/1(+55%) | (2) Wedgewood 4.5/1, 3 wins from 5 runs this year. Latest win at Wolverhampton in May. Fifth of 6 in handicap at Brighton (6f, firm, 15/2) 10 days ago. Something to prove on turf. Completed AW hat-trick this spring; has failed to transfer that form back to turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (3.5/1 +22%) Speed Dial Baileys |
3.5/1(+22%) | (1) Speed Dial Baileys 3.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1 and hooded for 1st time, eighth of 12 in minor event at this course (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago, doing too much too soon. Makes handicap debut. Likely to do better and worth taking a chance on. Looks open to improvement back over 5f on handicap debut; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (4.5/1 +55%) Tough Girl |
4.5/1(+55%) | (8) Tough Girl 4.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in minor event (200/1) at Kempton (6f) 63 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Worth monitoring in the betting. Gives the impression she may improve now handicapping and dropped to 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (7/1 +13%) Asian Queen |
7/1(+13%) | (7) Asian Queen 7/1, 11/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 18 days ago, missed break and passed beaten rivals. Not one to write off. Both turf attempts came over C&D last June; favourably treated on that bare form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (20/1 +20%) Diamond Hands |
20/1(+20%) | (5) Diamond Hands 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 13 days ago, missing break. Makes turf debut. Hard to make a case for. Holds weak claims on AW form; turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (66/1 +0%) Zany Idea |
66/1(+0%) | (10) Zany Idea 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, last of 11 in minor event at Chelmsford City (6f). Off 137 days. Makes handicap debut. Others make more appeal. Failed to beat a rival in three AW contests at Chelmsford during the winter. |

Narrowly denied at Yarmouth last time out over further, MUCKY MULCONRY should be well suited by dropping back in trip and he can make it two wins in his last three. Michael Wigham's charge may score at the main expense of Carry On Aitch and Rewilding, who ran with plenty of credit on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month. Speed Dial Baileys and Wedgewood are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
SPEED DIAL BAILEYS is related to winners and shaped better than the result on her quailfying run at this course a fortnight ago, so she's worth chancing on handicap debut in a weak event. Mucky Mulconry has been in good form, so he's feared most, while Carry On Aitch would play a part if back to her best.
Ahead of the assessor turned out quickly, MUCKY MULCONRY (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Rewilding is second choice.

Having made the frame in each of his four starts and narrowly denied at Musselburgh last time, PONGA deserves a change in luck and this may be his best opportunity yet to get off the mark. A half-sister to the decent California Gem, Band Of Joy is a newcomer to note for the George Boughey stable, while the same can be said of Acer, a daughter of Harry Angel, whom her trainer knows so well.
BAND OF JOY's stable has a fine record with Breeze-Up acquisitions and she's worth chancing given her speedy pedigree. Acer is a danger and Ponga is the clear pick of those with track experience.
Ponga sets an ordinary standard. BAND OF JOY, Acer, Easel and Fillide Melandroni are interesting newcomers.

Stuck on well for neck success in valuable Class 2 novice event at Goodwood; respected. |

A half-sister to the stables' talented Group 3 winner Bashkirova, ROYAL MILA has a bit to go to reach that level, but she got her career off to a perfect start when scoring in determined fashion at Goodwood. She can follow up against Goldsborough, who won at the same track earlier in the month, and Breathless Bishop for the in-form Harry and Roger Charlton team.
ROYAL MILA created a fine impression when seeing off a well-touted rival and 8 others on debut at Goodwood 3 weeks ago. She looks more than capable of defying a penalty before tackling better company. Goldsborough also won at that venue on second start and can ensure the Haggas filly doesn't have it all her own way.
Promising ROYAL MILA is taken to defy a 7lb penalty and follow up her Goodwood success. Goldsborough is the chief threat on form.

(10) (4/1 +50%)4/1(+50%) | (10) Cairn Gorm 4/1, C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2020. Below form fifth of 12 in handicap (13/2) at Kempton (6f), finishing with running left. Off 8 months and gelded. One to watch in the market on return. Gelding operation may help; very well treated on best form (Group 3 winner); interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chairmanoftheboard |
(1) (5.5/1 -10%)5.5/1(-10%) | (1) Chairmanoftheboard 5.5/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2021. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Ascot (6f, soft, 10/3) 38 days ago. Might have found that race coming too soon, so could bounce back quickly. Ran well in competitive event at Newmarket two starts ago; has won over C&D. |

Nomadic Empire |
(3) (6/1 -9%)6/1(-9%) | (3) Nomadic Empire 6/1, Creditable third of 12 in handicap at Haydock (6f, firm, 20/1) 9 days ago. Well treated, and one to take seriously. Clear possibilities if building on latest effort (close third at Haydock). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Justcallmepete |
(6) (7.5/1 +32%)7.5/1(+32%) | (6) Justcallmepete 7.5/1, Latest win at Southwell in January. Creditable fourth of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 82 days ago. Respected. Frame possibilities if transferring his AW form back to turf. |

Lequinto |
(9) (9/1 -13%)9/1(-13%) | (9) Lequinto 9/1, Quirky sort. C&D winner. 5/1, respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 21 days ago. Has fallen to a workable mark. Defied higher marks twice over C&D last summer; great chance on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bear Profit |
(8) (12/1 -9%)12/1(-9%) | (8) Bear Profit 12/1, 9/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 28 days ago. Likely to strip fitter for that, so likely to be back on his game. Seemed to need the run here on seasonal debut; may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rolfe Rembrandt |
(5) (40/1 -100%)40/1(-100%) | (5) Rolfe Rembrandt 40/1, 100/1, 13 lengths last of 9 to Run To Freedom in listed race at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Has bits of 6f form but his wins have come over shorter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
CAIRN GORM won three races as a juvenile, including a Group 3 at Deauville, and although he has failed to score since, he returns as a five-year-old after being gelded and following a wind operation. He could surprise off his current mark, and may get the better of Haydock third Nomadic Empire, who warrants respect off the same mark after being beaten less than a length in a similar race. Justcallmepete is another to consider on his return to 6f, with consistency on his side.
NOMADIC EMPIRE is well treated on his best efforts and returned to form when third at Haydock recently, so he makes most appeal in an open race. C&D winner Sterling Knight is interesting with cheekpieces refitted and Cairn Gorm is worthy of interest if strong in the market on return.
A chance is taken on seasonal debutant CAIRN GORM, who has slipped to a very tempting mark. Second choice is Chairmanoftheboard.

Makes handicap debut and mark could be lenient. Beat a 33-1 outsider and a disappointing favourite in a 6f fast-ground maiden at Salisbury. |

Thankuappreciate |
(7) (3.5/1 +50%)3.5/1(+50%) | (7) Thankuappreciate 3.5/1, Creditable third of 11 in handicap (15/2) at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 8 days ago, very slowly away. Back up in trip, which will help but comes with risks attached given issue at the stalls. Finished well after starting slowly last time; returning to 6f is well worth exploring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kessaar Power |
(5) (4.5/1 +25%)4.5/1(+25%) | (5) Kessaar Power 4.5/1, Two wins from 4 runs this year. Continued good work when second of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 16/5) 13 days ago, no match for winner. Can give another good account. Latest runs okay, as was drawn wide at Chester and bumped into an improver on Lingfield AW. |

Clipsham La Habana |
(2) (6/1 -50%)6/1(-50%) | (2) Clipsham La Habana 6/1, Didn't need to improve to win 9-runner novice event (1/3) at Newcastle (6f), plenty in hand. Off 173 days. Makes turf debut and fairly treated if he's as effective on grass. Signed off last season with two easy wins, the handicap off 12lb lower; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Heroism |
(3) (11/1 +0%)11/1(+0%) | (3) Heroism 11/1, Winning debut at Salisbury last summer. Found out in the Mill Reef next time and could manage only sixth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, firm) 12 days ago. Was left poorly placed given how that race unfolded and he's not yet exposed. It was a disappointing return he made on handicap debut at Nottingham; bit to prove now. |

Betweenthesticks |
(4) (11/1 -22%)11/1(-22%) | (4) Betweenthesticks 11/1, Triple winner during intensive 2-y-o campaign. Tenth of 14 in handicap at Epsom (5f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Back up in trip minus cheekpieces. Exposed three-time winner; bit of a concern that he's yet to win beyond 5f. |

Zaman Jemil |
(1) (14/1 -115%)14/1(-115%) | (1) Zaman Jemil 14/1, Made a winning nursery debut at Newcastle in August. Seventh of 9 in nursery at Newmarket (7f, good). Off 8 months (gelded) and mark demands more on return to action. Did well in his nurseries; now gelded and could have more to offer as 3yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sergeant Pep |
(8) (18/1 -80%)18/1(-80%) | (8) Sergeant Pep 18/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in December. 12/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 13 days ago. Not looked ahead of the game in his handicaps and was behind Kessaar Power on Lingfield AW. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Clipsham La Habana won his last two starts as a juvenile comfortably enough, but he hasn't been seen since December and is making his turf debut here. He can go well if he takes to the turf, yet BE FRANK may have his measure. Gelded after two starts at two, he returned with a maiden win at Salisbury and an opening mark of 79 may underestimate his ability. Kessaar Power and Thankuappreciate are others worth considering.
If there's a runner with the potential to be quite a bit better than their mark it's surely BE FRANK, who looked a totally different proposition when making a winning reappearance at Salisbury 3 weeks ago. Assuming he's as effective on turf, Clipsham La Habana is a threat, along with Kessaar Power.
This return to 6f looks the right move for THANKUAPPRECIATE, especially should he again be slow to break.

Galactic Glow gained a first career success in a similar contest at Bath recently and merits consideration in his current mood. Preference, however, is for the Adam West-trained GILBERT. The son of Cityscape was far from disgraced when carrying a 5lb penalty in a handicap at Yarmouth on Wednesday and a similar level of performance in this classified stakes contest could prove good enough. Hourless returns to this sphere on the back of a triumph over hurdles and is another to note.
HOURLESS arrives here on the back of an early-season juvenile hurdle win and he makes plenty of appeal at this level. Gilbert also comes here in excellent order, with recent Bath winner Galactic Glow completing the shortlist.
The shortlist is headed by closely matched rivals GILBERT and Urban Forest. Third choice is Hourless, ahead of Fadi.

Metabolt |
(3) (1.62/1 -17%)1.62/1(-17%) | (3) Metabolt 1.62/1, Much improved on 7f Haydock reappearance a month ago, finishing strongly after being hampered to be second past post (subsequently awarded the race). Better than that bare form and could still be ahead of his mark. Awarded 7f race at Haydock; up 5lb for this with his stamina to prove. |

Grey Fox |
(6) (4.5/1 +50%)4.5/1(+50%) | (6) Grey Fox 4.5/1, Three-time C&D winner. Below-form fifth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (1m, good to firm, 16/1) 17 days ago. Return to this venue needs to help him recapture his best form. Four course wins; Doncaster was a damp squib 17 days ago but this is more his scene. |

Two Tempting |
(7) (5/1 -25%)5/1(-25%) | (7) Two Tempting 5/1, 1m winner on AW who has developed into a likeable type, just touched off on AW at Kempton last month. Faced a stiff task from out of the weights in Epsom Class 2 latest and respected with his sights lowered. This year's seconds have come on the AW but turf defeats were in a higher grade than this. |

Just Amber |
(5) (5.5/1 +54%)5.5/1(+54%) | (5) Just Amber 5.5/1, Career best when winning 6-runner Lingfield handicap (1m, AW) in April but not in anything like the same form at Kempton since. Bounce back needed. Drawn wide when never dangerous after a 5lb rise at Kempton; this mark could be an issue. |

Wilkins |
(2) (5.5/1 +0%)5.5/1(+0%) | (2) Wilkins 5.5/1, Off the mark in 1m Pontefract maiden last July. Disappointed in 9f Hamilton handicap when last seen in August but it's potentially significant that his leading yard perseveres. Tongue strap on first time. Maiden winner but remains to be seen how lenient this mark is. |

Global Esteem |
(4) (7.5/1 +38%)7.5/1(+38%) | (4) Global Esteem 7.5/1, Seventh of 9 in handicap at Goodwood (7f, good to firm, 7/1) 24 days ago. Mark on the slide but need to see more. Needs to get back on song after Goodwood defeat last time but on a dangerous mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
METABOLT regained the winning thread when being awarded the race in the stewards' room at Haydock last month and David Loughnane's four-year-old may have more to offer, despite being burdened with a 5lb rise for that success. Two Tempting found a class 2 event a bit too demanding at Epsom recently and better is expected now returned to this grade off 3lb lower, while Global Esteem is also likely to prove more competitive at this level.
METABOLT can be rated a couple of lengths better than the bare form of his latest Haydock run and could still be well treated after a 5 lb rise. Two Tempting ought to find this easier than the Epsom Class 2 he contested last time and is second choice ahead of the William Haggas-trained Wilkins.
Global Esteem (second choice) could surprise a few but if GREY FOX is to return to form anywhere, it will be here.
Ths is the racecard key.
