1st (2) (1/4 +50%) Lump Sum |
1/4(+50%) | (2) Lump Sum 1/4, Looked above average in bumpers and made an impressive start to his hurdling career when winning a 2m novice at Ffos Las on the bridle. Looks capable of much better and hard to beat. Didn't always jump with fluency on h'dle debut at Ffos Las but won easily; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (9/2 +18%) Onethreefivenotout |
9/2(+18%) | (10) Onethreefivenotout 9/2, Made a winning bumper debut at Worcester in October 2021 but not seen again until pulled up on Chepstow hurdle debut 6 weeks ago. Could only consider if the betting suggests a good deal better is expected this time. Bumper winner; pulled up on return from long absence but may leave that miles behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/1 -13%) Banteer |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Banteer 9/1, Fairly useful in bumpers and he shaped quite well on the back of a wind op when fifth of 8 in novice hurdle (7/2) at Hereford (2½m, good) on hurdles bow 36 days ago. Potential improver now dropping in trip. Promising second on bumper debut; well beaten twice since but could get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (100/1 -525%) Lady Balko |
100/1(-525%) | (16) Lady Balko 100/1, Successful on her sole outing in Irish points in February but well beaten in 2 novice hurdles last month. Point winner; things could click under rules at some point, but needs big step forward. |

5th (9) (12/1 -20%) Mountain Pass |
12/1(-20%) | (9) Mountain Pass 12/1, Has shown a fair level of ability in maidens at Doncaster and Newbury in recent weeks and place claims in a race lacking depth. Fair fifth on first two hurdle starts; towards the top of the pecking order in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (250/1 -67%) Solstice Saint |
250/1(-67%) | (13) Solstice Saint 250/1, Half-brother to 4 winners but hasn't shown enough in 2 bumpers and a novice hurdle to fancy his chances here. Tailed off at 150-1 on recent hurdle debut at Taunton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(-355%) | (5) Benville Bridge 150/1, 200/1, sixth of 12 in a course bumper on debut in March 2022 and not seen since. Can only be watched. Absent since midfield finish in bumper here in March 2022; probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (33/1 -230%) Afta Party |
33/1(-230%) | (1) Afta Party 33/1, Fairly useful Flat winner for Alice Haynes and, having left Syd Hosie, left previous hurdling efforts behind when landing a novice at Newton Abbot in October. Has disappointed in a handicap at Plumpton since, though. Cheekpieces back on. Flopped last time but 50-1 winner previously; not written off in a race lacking depth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (125/1 -150%) Aworkinprogress |
125/1(-150%) | (3) Aworkinprogress 125/1, 25/1, fifth of 8 in novice hurdle at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) on NH debut 21 days ago. More one for the longer term on that evidence. Well beaten at 25-1 on last month's rules debut in Lingfield novice hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (15) (150/1 -200%) Cams Girl |
150/1(-200%) | (15) Cams Girl 150/1, Black Sam Bellamy filly. Dam lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 21f) Briery Queen. Likely a longer-term project. £2,000 3yo; from in-form yard and worth a market check on debut in a race lacking depth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (100/1 -525%) Loverdose |
100/1(-525%) | (8) Loverdose 100/1, Won over 2m on the Flat in France in spring 2022 but well beaten on recent Lingfield hurdle debut after a 19-month absence. Has a hood added now. French Flat winner who was tailed off on recent hurdle debut when back from long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (250/1 -150%) Hobbs Joy |
250/1(-150%) | (6) Hobbs Joy 250/1, Stepped up on previous form when fair third of 5 in bumper at Catterick last November, but has offered little in 3 starts over timber this season. Showed ability in Catterick bumper but has struggled on his three hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (17) (150/1 -200%) Theweddingcanwait |
150/1(-200%) | (17) Theweddingcanwait 150/1, Placed in a pair of Worcester bumpers this summer (for Fergal O'Brien first occasion) but has yet to offer much over hurdles. Placed in bumpers but unable to transfer that ability to her two attempts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (66/1 -164%) Plaisir Des Flos |
66/1(-164%) | (11) Plaisir Des Flos 66/1, Showed only modest form in bumpers for Thomas Gallagher and beaten a long way in 2 hurdles for new yard in recent weeks (although did hint at promise first occasion). Not devoid of ability in bumpers but well beaten on first two hurdle starts. |

125/1(-279%) | (12) Renegade Arrow 125/1, Perth bumper winner in September 2021. Not seen again until well held in 2 hurdles at Chepstow last month. Another who could be more one for handicaps down the line. Bumper winner but down the field on first two hurdle starts, following long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LUMP SUM made quite the impression on his hurdles debut at Ffos Las last month and a 7lb penalty for that smooth success may not be enough to prevent him continuing his progression by completing a double. That may be at the main expense of Banteer, who went for a long way before fading late on when making his own hurdles bow at Hereford. The latter's stablemate, Onethreefivenotout, and Afta Party are also capable of being in the shake-up.
This looks an excellent opportunity for the promising LUMP SUM to follow up last month's Ffos Las hurdle debut success. Banteer can improve on his opening hurdle effort at Hereford and chase the selection home ahead of Mountain Pass in a race long on numbers but not depth.
This is much less competitive than the field size suggests and may well be a good opportunity for LUMP SUM to make it 2-2 over hurdles.

1st (2) (50/1 -213%) Johnny B |
50/1(-213%) | (2) Johnny B 50/1, Quickly struck over fences at Chepstow (3m2f) in April 2022. Yet to score in this sphere but returns on a handy mark after 13 months off and is worth monitoring in the market. Well treated on last year's best chase form but absent since pulled up last November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (5/1 +80%) Ginderella |
5/1(+80%) | (10) Ginderella 5/1, Back to somewhere near her best when fourth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Exeter (21.6f, soft, 18/1) 16 days ago. Worth trying over this longer trip but others look better treated. Fair efforts in two of her three handicaps but needs something extra now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (13/2 +0%) Cooleenymore |
13/2(+0%) | (8) Cooleenymore 13/2, Found improvement on return/handicap debut when runner-up at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy) last month and posted solid fourth at Ludlow (21.3f) since. Likely to be in the mix again. Has run well in her first two handicaps and she could again be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (15/2 +77%) Rollo's Kingdom |
15/2(+77%) | (9) Rollo's Kingdom 15/2, Modest maiden hurdler who returned with a below-form ninth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Exeter (16.7f, soft) 32 days ago. Tries significantly longer trip now but has plenty to prove at present. Lightly raced 6yo who takes a sizeable step up in trip but he's struggled in both h'caps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/1 +17%) Awesome Foursome |
5/1(+17%) | (4) Awesome Foursome 5/1, Belatedly off the mark over timber at Perth (20.2f) in September and backed that up with good second at Ludlow (23.8f) next time. However, needs to shrug off a poor run at Uttoxeter since. Disappointing favourite at Uttoxeter but in good form previously and not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (6/1 -20%) Sam's Amour |
6/1(-20%) | (5) Sam's Amour 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden who has run with credit both starts in low-grade handicaps so far this campaign, third in mares' handicap hurdle at Fontwell (19.2f) latest. This longer trip may suit and she must enter calculations. Third in both handicaps and she could have more to offer now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/1 -56%) Aldsworth |
7/1(-56%) | (6) Aldsworth 7/1, Well backed and in the process of showing improved form for new yard when falling 2 out on return at Huntingdon in October and lost little in defeat when runner-up at Hereford (25.5f, good to soft) since. Shortlisted. Runner-up at Hereford last month and this lightly raced 5yo is on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -10%) Lucky So And So |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Lucky So And So 11/1, Promise in 3 novice hurdles at the start of 2022 but pulled up on his last two starts. Cheekpieces on for first time. Others appeal more. Won two points in the spring; pulled up over h'dles last month but may have needed the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (12/1 -140%) Emotional Memories |
12/1(-140%) | (3) Emotional Memories 12/1, Showed ability in a bumper and posted best effort in this sphere when second at Lingfield (23f, soft) last time, keeping on well. Warrants respect. Runner-up on handicap debut at Lingfield and the winner has followed up; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (13/2 -44%) Rajaran |
13/2(-44%) | (7) Rajaran 13/2, Took a step forward, after 8 months off, when running-on fifth of 11 in novice hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, good to soft) 36 days ago. Player off a handy mark on his handicap debut with this step up in trip also a likely plus. There's potential in his pedigree; could improve for this step up in trip on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (40/1 -300%) Spicy Nelson |
40/1(-300%) | (11) Spicy Nelson 40/1, Offered little in bumper or a trio of starts in maiden/novice hurdles thus far. May do better now upped in trip for handicap debut, however. 2 lb out of the weights. Hasn't shown much across his four runs but goes h'capping off basement mark; check market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ALDSWORTH has improved since joining new connections and he must hold every chance if building upon a strong runner-up effort at Hereford last time out. Soft ground may not be ideal, but he should still have enough to hold off Sam's Amour and Cooleenymore, who has claims on his penultimate effort at Chepstow when runner-up over shorter.
ALDSWORTH has upped his game for new connections this term and gets the nod in an open-looking contest. Rajaran and Sam's Amour can also make their presence felt.
Preference is for RAJARAN, who has shaped as though he will improve for the step up in trip on this first handicap outing.

1st (3) (9/1 -80%) Baby Shally |
9/1(-80%) | (3) Baby Shally 9/1, Point winner who looked in need of outing when seventh of 16 in bumper at Warwick (16f, heavy) on NH debut 34 days ago. Upped in trip on switch to hurdling and this run should reveal more. Point winner; soundly beaten in her sole bumper but she retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/11 +51%) Don't Rightly Know |
8/11(+51%) | (1) Don't Rightly Know 8/11, Back from a long absence when readily taking 6-runner novice hurdle at Exeter (23.1f, soft) 16 days ago, Looks the one to beat, despite having to concede weight all round. Returned from latest layoff with easy win at Exeter recently; leading claims on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/4 +0%) Country Lady |
11/4(+0%) | (4) Country Lady 11/4, Confirmed promise of her Lingfield debut effort when landing a bumper at Plumpton in April. Shaped like a stayer when third on hurdling bow at latter course last month, so should step forward now upped in trip. Bumper winner; fair third on hurdle debut and there's room for improvement in her jumping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (28/1 -12%) Musique De Fee |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Musique De Fee 28/1, Ran to modest level both starts in bumpers and is likely best watched on hurdles debut here. Has displayed promise in the bumper sphere but improvement needed on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (100/1 +0%) Seasmoke |
100/1(+0%) | (8) Seasmoke 100/1, Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points but little encouragement to be gleaned from her sixth in a novice at Ffos Las 30 days ago. Point runner-up but tailed off at 40-1 on last month's hurdle debut at Ffos Las. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (13/2 +74%) Jersey Gem |
13/2(+74%) | (5) Jersey Gem 13/2, Showed a bit more than on hurdling debut when ninth of 13 in novice at Market Rasen last month but looks more one for handicapping down the line. Third in a bumper but merely ninth on both hurdle starts and improvement is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (50/1 -213%) Astro Annie |
50/1(-213%) | (2) Astro Annie 50/1, Schiaparelli mare. Dam, prolific point winner/3m chase winner, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stays 27f) Ridgeway Flyer. Pulled up both starts in points earlier this year and market should prove best guide to claims on Rules debut. Pulled up on both point starts; needs to be entirely different proposition on rules debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This can go the way of DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW, who could hardly have won any easier on just her third start at Exeter last month. The slight drop in trip should not inconvenience on this occasion and, despite incurring a 7lb winner's penalty, she is preferred to Queen Annie, who shaped with encouragement after wind surgery on her own hurdles bow at Exeter. Country Lady has the form to get involved in proceedings as well.
DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW has clearly been difficult to train but won in good style in similar conditions at Exeter last month and may be able to defy a penalty. Queen Annie and Country Lady look the obvious dangers.
The very lightly raced 8yo DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW won in fine style at Exeter recently and she is taken to follow up.

1st (2) (4/1 -100%) Take Your Time |
4/1(-100%) | (2) Take Your Time 4/1, :Lost his way over hurdles after back-to-back victories in 2021/22, but switched to chasing (had won his sole start in points) he got back on track when winning handicap at Newton Abbot (25.8f, heavy) in October. Up just 3 lb and he should have more to offer. Won on chase debut at Newton Abbot in October and could have more to offer over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/2 +50%) Great Name That |
9/2(+50%) | (6) Great Name That 9/2, Winner of sole start between the flags and while he didn't show much starting out under Rules in an Irish bumper, he was placed all 4 starts switched to hurdles last season. Failed to make an impact on return/chase debut following a wind op at Exeter, though, and now tried in cheekpieces. Soundly beaten on chase debut but this unexposed 6yo retains potential; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/1 -64%) Striking A Pose |
9/1(-64%) | (4) Striking A Pose 9/1, Dual hurdles winner who also scored on his chase debut at Exeter (19.2f) back in November 2021. However, hasn't been able to add to his tally since and, after 5 months off, ran no sort of race at this C&D in October. Wind op needs to help spark a return to form. Pulled up last time but has dropped down the weights and a wind op may do the trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 -30%) Raddon Top |
13/2(-30%) | (3) Raddon Top 13/2, Landed hat-trick of handicap hurdles at Exeter at the start of 2022 and off the mark over fences at the same course (24.3f, heavy) early this year. Returned to form when runner-up there over hurdles on his reappearance and will be a danger to all if able to build on that back in this sphere. Ran well on reappearance at Exeter; not ruled out but Exeter is his favourite course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (3/1 -33%) King Turgeon |
3/1(-33%) | (1) King Turgeon 3/1, Ex-French gelding got off the mark on second start for this yard at Fontwell in March. Showed plenty of stamina and resolution when adding to his tally at Exeter (24.2f, soft) last month and while more is needed up 7 lb here, he needs considering. Won at Exeter three weeks ago and this 5yo could have more left in the tank. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (22/1 +56%) Putdecashonthedash |
22/1(+56%) | (8) Putdecashonthedash 22/1, Signed off 2021/22 on a winning note at Plumpton but he rarely stands much racing and well held both starts this season. Continues to drop down the weights but it's been a very long time since he ran well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (4/1 +27%) Ede'iffs Elton |
4/1(+27%) | (7) Ede'iffs Elton 4/1, All 3 career wins over fences at this course and, after 8 months off, he took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 12 here (20.2f, soft) last month. Interesting contender as he goes back up in trip with usual cheekpieces reapplied. Encouraging fourth over 2m4f here on reappearance; all wins have come here over 3m1f/3m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 +20%) Nearly Perfect |
20/1(+20%) | (5) Nearly Perfect 20/1, Three-time winner in staying chases back in 2020 but after a lengthy absence has gone the wrong way since, well beaten all 3 starts over fences earlier this year. Little encouragement over hurdles at Uttoxeter in June, so has enough to prove after 6 months off. Has tumbled down the weights but for good reason and he needs to turn things around. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
KING TURGEON has a good record over fences and, having now proven he handles a good test of stamina by winning on good to soft over 3m at Exeter 22 days ago, a 7lb higher mark might not be enough to prevent him from backing up that success now tackling an additional furlong. Take Your Time is another with a solid chance on these terms and, having previously won under Bryony Frost, he warrants plenty of respect now reunited with that rider. Nearly Perfect and Ede'iffs Elton complete the shortlist.
TAKE YOUR TIME jumped with aplomb when making a winning chase debut at Newton Abbot and, with the promise of better to come from him in this sphere and well treated based on his peak hurdles' form, he is taken to follow up. Raddon Top put in a good shift on his seasonal reappearance over hurdles at Exeter and will be a threat if able to back that up now returned to the larger obstacles. Recent Exeter winner King Turgeon is third choice ahead of Ede'iffs Elton.
Point winner GREAT NAME THAT should be capable of much better than he showed on his chase debut and he earns the vote.

7/2(+65%) | (4) Aurigny Mill 7/2, Left previous efforts well behind to get off the mark in 14-runner novice at Taunton in March. Shaped as if needing the run when fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Sandown (16f, soft, 11/1) on return last month and he's entitled to go closer now from workable-looking mark. Unexposed 6yo who could improve for last month's handicap/seasonal debut at Sandown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 +9%) No No Tonic |
10/1(+9%) | (5) No No Tonic 10/1, Dual winner here last term, including over this trip, and bounced back to form after a spell in the doldrums when third of 14 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, good to soft) 26 days ago, coming clear with a pair of less-exposed rivals. Respected. Three wins here last year and back on song when third at Taunton last time; could go well. |

3rd (8) (9/4 +0%) Him Malaya |
9/4(+0%) | (8) Him Malaya 9/4, Off the mark when landing 9-runner handicap hurdle over C&D (soft) under this pilot 19 days ago. 5 lb rise fair and expected to be bang there. Had something to spare over C&D and this unexposed 4yo could take a 5lb rise in his stride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 +9%) Celtic Art |
10/1(+9%) | (2) Celtic Art 10/1, Useful winner on Flat who bagged third success in this sphere when scoring at Lingfield (16f) last month. Found company too hot at Newbury latest and better expected dropped back in grade here. Won at Lingfield last month but tailed off at Newbury just ten days ago. |

5th (3) (16/1 -146%) Prince Quali |
16/1(-146%) | (3) Prince Quali 16/1, Fair chaser in France, winning amateur riders minor event at Auteuil in 2021/22. Missed all of last season and left David Cottin for €10,000 in February. Joined a good yard but watching brief advised on UK debut. Wears hood. Makes stable debut after absence but he showed plenty of promise in France; watch betting. |

6th (1) (17/2 -113%) Sizing Pottsie |
17/2(-113%) | (1) Sizing Pottsie 17/2, Smart chaser for Jessica Harrington in 2021/22 and, on his first run after a wind op, showed more than previously for this yard when second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 24 days ago. Sound claims again. Close second of five on reappearance and every chance he'll be in the mix once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 +32%) Despereaux |
15/2(+32%) | (6) Despereaux 15/2, Off the mark at Huntingdon on his second start before defying a penalty at Taunton in March. Failed to come on significantly for his comeback when fifth of 6 in handicap hurdle at Lingfield (16f, good to soft) 28 days ago and others appeal more. Hasn't run badly this autumn in two handicaps but he has to raise his game today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (5/1 -25%) Great Ocean |
5/1(-25%) | (7) Great Ocean 5/1, C&D winner who bounced back to best when taking 13-runner handicap hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, good, 4/1) last month. Remains well treated on old form. Won at Hereford recently; drops back down in trip today but still entitled to respect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HIM MALAYA responded well for Olive Nicholls when they landed a conditional riders' race here last month and, now able to utilise the jockey's 7lb claim, another big run can be expected off a 5lb higher mark. Fellow last-time-out winner Great Ocean has a similar profile and is respected with Joe Anderson retaining the ride after they successfully teamed up at Hereford 13 days ago off a 6lb lower rating. Sizing Pottsie and the unexposed Aurigny Mill complete the shortlist.
HIM MALAYA won a shade cosily here last month and is fancied to follow up. Great Ocean and No No Tonic should also go well.
The Paul Nicholls-trained 4yo HIM MALAYA (nap) did it nicely over C&D three weeks ago and is taken to defy a 5lb rise.

11/1(-100%) | (9) Sherborne 11/1, Landed a double over hurdles during the spring and first form over fences when runner-up in a handicap chase at Exeter (17.5f, soft) in October. Better than bare result at Kempton next time and no surprise to see him involved in the finish here. Hurdle wins at 2m4f and 2m5f in May; not obviously ahead of his mark in 2 chase runs since. |

5th (2) (11/1 +67%) King Of Brazil |
11/1(+67%) | (2) King Of Brazil 11/1, Modest form in bumpers but much better signs over hurdles, confirming debut promise when landing 2m novice at Warwick in March. Signed off with a poor run, however, and hasn't shown much in 2 starts switched to fences this season. Tongue strap added. Hurdle winner over 2m in March (soft); no marked promise in 2 chase starts; tongue-tie on. |

6th (8) (9/1 -80%) Chankaya |
9/1(-80%) | (8) Chankaya 9/1, Fair form at best on the Flat and runner-up twice from half-a-dozen starts over hurdles, including in a 13-runner handicap here (19.8f, soft) last time. Possibilities if he takes to fences at the first attempt. Solid run against unexposed rival over 2m4f here latest; up 6lb for chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (5/1 +44%) Bonza Boy |
5/1(+44%) | (11) Bonza Boy 5/1, Didn't kick on from a promising reappearance over hurdles last season. Positives to glean from his efforts over fences at Chepstow and Warwick but improvement will be needed if he's to make it third time lucky in this sphere. Mild promise on chase debut; jumped right on return; can do better going this way round. |

|PU| (4) (7/2 +30%) Kraqueline |
7/2(+30%) | (4) Kraqueline 7/2, Fair maiden hurdler who took her form up a level when winning 9-runner handicap chase here (20.2f, soft) on debut over fences in October. This 8 lb higher mark proved beyond her at Warwick next time, though. Cosy C&D winner on chase debut; struggled in higher grade since; this is less competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (13/2 +19%) Hot Rod Lincoln |
13/2(+19%) | (3) Hot Rod Lincoln 13/2, Successful on sole outing in Irish points and was getting his act together over hurdles towards the end of last season, opening his account in a novice at Fontwell in May. However, disappointing start in this sphere on return at Warwick. Won Irish point/maiden hurdle; pulled up on chase debut but too soon to write off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (22/1 +12%) Pencil |
22/1(+12%) | (12) Pencil 22/1, Appeared to take a step forward when placed on third start over fences at Bangor in October but has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts. 8 lb 'wrong' at the weights. Not gone on from 3rd in 2m1f chase in October; yet to complete at trips beyond 2m2f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SHERBORNE has held his form well and, given he has scope to develop further as a chaser, looks worth chancing in a wide-open handicap, especially with regular partner Brendan Powell back in the saddle. King Of Brazil is one to monitor closely in the betting sporting a first-time tongue-tie, while Kingofthewest (fourth) is noteworthy given the form of his chasing debut was subsequently boosted by the third home winning at Ludlow earlier this month. Chasing debutant Chankaya ris also considered, having gone close over hurdles here last time.
The vote goes to KINGOFTHEWEST, who should be all the better for his chase debut fourth at Taunton following a seven-month absence and this step back up in trip is a potentially good move. Sherborne probably would've finished closer but for a stumble at the third-last at Kempton last time and he is next on the list ahead of Moytier.
A case can be made for a few but HOT ROD LINCOLN remains with potential and it may be worth overlooking his low-key chase debut.

Placed on each of his first two starts over shorter, the step up in trip can work the oracle for HILL SPIRIT as he looks to get off the mark. A 7lb penalty for a taking success on debut at Ludlow will make life tougher for Lightning Flash, while Dodger Long is of interest as well on his first run for new connections. Crest Of Fortune looks to be the pick of the newcomers for a stable that know how to ready one.
HILL SPIRIT has shown fair form when placed in similar company in recent months and is taken to make the most of the weight he receives from previous-winner Lightning Flash. Anthony Honeyball, who has a healthy strike-rate in bumpers, runs 4 newcomers and a market move for one or more would also bring them into the reckoning.
With 7lb claimed and therefore negating his penalty, the ready Ludlow winner LIGHTNING FLASH looks capable of a repeat.
Ths is the racecard key.
