Imperial Jade |
(2) (5/2 +17%)5/2(+17%) | (2) Imperial Jade 5/2, Largely disappointed last term but had ended previous campaign with victory at Chepstow (16.1f) and got back to that sort of form when creditable third of 14 in handicap hurdle over same C&D (good to soft) 23 days ago. Returns to longer trip now and holds solid claims. Reappeared with good third at Chepstow; can be hope she'll be fine now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Catboy |
(4) (5/2 +17%)5/2(+17%) | (4) Catboy 5/2, Off the mark at Fontwell (17.7f) in September and improved again when second of 15 in handicap hurdle at Exeter (18.5f) last month. Unsuited by emphasis on speed at Fakenham latest and is one for shortlist. Improved form in the cheekpieces this autumn and latest run may have come too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sassified |
(9) (5/1 +9%)5/1(+9%) | (9) Sassified 5/1, Operating below his best at present, including in first-time blinkers at Exeter latest, but is now 9 lb below his last winning mark and has the assistance of a promising claimer. Enters calculations. Unable to pose a threat this season but on a reduced mark and Callum Pritchard rides. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ryder's Rock |
(6) (15/2 0%)15/2(0%) | (6) Ryder's Rock 15/2, Newton Abbot winner in September who returned to form when respectable third of 15 in handicap hurdle at Exeter (18.5f, good to soft, 20/1) 30 days ago. 1 lb lower now and warrants respect. 11l behind Catboy at Exeter last time but perhaps the step back up in trip will help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Prairie Diamond |
(3) (17/2 -13%)17/2(-13%) | (3) Prairie Diamond 17/2, Bounced back to form when solid third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (17.7f, good to firm) 83 days ago. 1 lb lower now and can't be ruled out. Lightly raced 5yo who was a fair third at Fontwell last time; could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kentford Mallard |
(7) (9/1 +64%)9/1(+64%) | (7) Kentford Mallard 9/1, Failed to come on for return effort at Chepstow earlier this month and has something to prove at present. Well treated on her form in the spring but down the field on both outings this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Red Windsor |
(1) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (1) Red Windsor 12/1, Sole success came over 2 years ago and arrives on back of poor effort, in first-time cheekpieces, at Warwick 16 days ago. Runner-up over fences last November and now 20lb lower, but he's struggled since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
African Lady |
(8) (12/1 +25%)12/1(+25%) | (8) African Lady 12/1, Modest maiden who has made little impact in 5 starts for current yard. Tumbling in the weights but makes limited appeal. Hasn't run badly when sixth the last twice but needs something extra today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Punt |
(5) (18/1 +28%)18/1(+28%) | (5) The Punt 18/1, Second in sole bumper. Unable to make a significant impact over hurdles, though, including on handicap debut, and has lengthy absence to overcome. Lightly raced bumper runner-up but pulled up on handicap debut and returns from absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Too Sharp |
(10) (22/1 +33%)22/1(+33%) | (10) Too Sharp 22/1, Modest maiden hurdler who failed to improve on switch to handicaps in recent months. Hard to fancy. Open to improvement if cutting out the mistakes but his claims aren't overly compelling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CATBOY may have been inconvenienced by a quick turnaround at Fakenham after filling the runner-up spot at Exeter just eight days prior and the four-year-old is expected to bounce back on this occasion. Imperial Jade benefited from a wind operation when third at Chepstow on her return to action and is respected along with Prairie Diamond, who reached the frame at Fontwell in August.
IMPERIAL JADE has dropped to a handy mark and made a pleasing reappearance at Chepstow last month. She gets the nod. Catboy and Sassified rate the principal dangers.
The mare IMPERIAL JADE returned to form with a good third of 14 at Chepstow on her reappearance and earns the vote.

I Shut That D'or |
(2) (2/1 +11%)2/1(+11%) | (2) I Shut That D'or 2/1, Had been given a big chance by the handicapper (23 lb lower mark than for his chasing debut last autumn) and returned to form reverted to fences when scoring at Plumpton recently, proving a different proposition with regard to both his jumping and finishing effort. Could go well again up 3 lb. Returned to form to win at Plumpton this month; leading claims if backing up that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cave Article |
(6) (7/2 +0%)7/2(+0%) | (6) Cave Article 7/2, Backed as if defeat was out of the question on handicap hurdle debut at Fakenham (20f) on return but disappointed. From a pointing background so interesting to see if the money comes for him again on chase debut now. Achieved little over hurdles but this point runner-up could be a big improver now chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Celtic Ned |
(1) (4/1 +0%)4/1(+0%) | (1) Celtic Ned 4/1, Fair hurdler who shaped as if needing the run sent chasing after 8 months off at Fontwell. Has the physique and pedigree for fences so seems sure to do better. Upped in trip now. Has to leave chase debut form well behind but may have needed it; remains lightly raced. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mr Sociable |
(8) (11/2 +8%)11/2(+8%) | (8) Mr Sociable 11/2, Poor maiden hurdler/chaser but he's given it a good go the last twice, placed again from out of the weights here last time. Could yet find a race. 18-race maiden but third over C&D last time and that form has worked out extremely well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Always Busy |
(3) (9/1 +36%)9/1(+36%) | (3) Always Busy 9/1, Modest handicap hurdler, possibly amiss when well held on reappearance. Goes chasing now and 1 of 2 for the yard. Chase debut; tailed off latest, may have needed it; showed spark in March; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Noah's Light |
(7) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (7) Noah's Light 12/1, Beaten a long way on all 3 starts now when attempting to repeat the tactics of his all-the-way win at Newton Abbot in July, dropping away quickly at the end of the back straight at Plumpton 4 weeks ago. Others preferred. Inconsistent & only 1-18 over fences, but some good form this term; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Benandgone |
(4) (18/1 +28%)18/1(+28%) | (4) Benandgone 18/1, Fair maiden hurdler who has been off 21 months. Tongue tie goes on. Might need a stiffer test. Well treated on his best form but he has a hefty absence to defy on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
My Mate Polly |
(9) (18/1 +45%)18/1(+45%) | (9) My Mate Polly 18/1, Stepped up considerably when third from 7 lb out of the handicap on chase debut at Exeter (17.5f, good to soft) last month. Ran out when well beaten at Huntingdon since, though. Cheekpieces go back on. 100-1 3rd on last month's chase debut but beaten when running out at Huntingdon last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Benville Bridge |
(5) (28/1 -12%)28/1(-12%) | (5) Benville Bridge 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler. Quickly sent chasing up in trip on return and could do better in this sphere. Improvement needed but he could be suited by the longer trip and switch to fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
I SHUT THAT D'OR got off the mark over fences at Plumpton earlier in the month and a 3lb rise might not be enough to stop Joe Tizzard's charge from taking another step forward. The booking of Harry Cobden for chasing debutant Cave Article shouldn't be ignored and it would be no surprise if he left behind the level of form he achieved over hurdles. Celtic Ned appeared to need his return at Fontwell and is expected to be a lot sharper.
CELTIC NED could do a lot better over fences on the back of his Fontwell return and he gets the vote up in trip. I Shut That d'or did everything right for once when winning well from the front at Plumpton and can go well again if in the same mood up 3 lb. It will be interesting to see if the money comes for Cave Article again now he goes chasing.
Preference is for I SHUT THAT D'OR, who won at Plumpton last time and represents the bang-in-form Joe Tizzard.

Ambion View |
(1) (1/4 +66%)1/4(+66%) | (1) Ambion View 1/4, Achieved only modest form when third in a pair of bumpers last winter but returned for in-form yard and looked a totally different proposition when making a successful hurdles debut at Exeter a month ago (18.5f). Penalty to carry but there's more to come. Won over 2m2f on hurdle debut at Exeter and he's bred to be suited by this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dino Magic |
(2) (7/1 +42%)7/1(+42%) | (2) Dino Magic 7/1, Closely related to a winner on Flat and half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Los Banderos. Showed very little in a brace of bumpers, reportedly bled after Huntingdon run in April. Already had 2 breathing operations ahead of hurdles debut but he's certainly in the right hands. Tongue tie on. Hint of promise in the first of his two bumpers; has had two wind ops; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A Perfect Day |
(4) (15/2 +32%)15/2(+32%) | (4) A Perfect Day 15/2, £35,000 4-y-o, second foal: dam unraced half-sister to useful chaser (stayed 25f) Burning Ambition. Runner-up only outing in Irish points (May 6). Point runner-up who makes rules debut with trainer in fine form; one to be interested in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Remember Moi |
(6) (11/1 +31%)11/1(+31%) | (6) Remember Moi 11/1, Had a breathing operation after finishing placed in a bumper on second start in June but failed to repeat that form when fifth back at Worcester in August, hanging left. Hurdles debut up in distance. Placed on the second of her three bumper starts; improvement needed on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Diamond Dusty |
(5) (80/1 +60%)80/1(+60%) | (5) Diamond Dusty 80/1, Little encouragement in a brace of bumpers and as many starts over hurdles. Big odds and well beaten or pulled up on all four starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
AMBION VIEW's victory at Exeter was boosted by the runner-up winning at Cheltenham on Sunday and the manner of that performance suggested a step up in trip would see him in an even better light. A Perfect Day was second on his only start between the flags in Ireland and has to be of interest on his Rules debut, while Dino Magic and Remember Moi are the pick of the remainder.
AMBION VIEW left his bumper form trailing in his wake when making a successful hurdles debut at Exeter a month ago and this scopey sort looks up to defying a penalty up in distance. Tinklers Hill has been off the track over a year but he represents a leading yard so he's sure to be well prepared for this and is the obvious danger.
Joe Tizzard's representative AMBION VIEW made a winning hurdle debut over 2m2f at Exeter and is bred to be suited by today's trip.

Sunset Marquesa |
(7) (2/5 +50%)2/5(+50%) | (7) Sunset Marquesa 2/5, Hit the frame 3 times in listed bumpers after making a winning start at Aintree and showed plenty to work on despite novicey mistakes when second of 8 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft, 5/2) on hurdles bow 20 days ago. The one to beat. Placed in Listed mares' bumpers; runner-up on hurdle debut this month; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Loud And Proud |
(4) (5/1 -25%)5/1(-25%) | (4) Loud And Proud 5/1, €50,000 3-y-o, Shirocco mare. Half-sister to useful hurdler Russian Ruler. Dam, ran twice in bumpers, half-sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 2½m) Royal Choice. Placed on her 2 last starts in points and has to be respected for the Derham yard. Placed in points and has joined up-and-coming trainer for rules career; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Golden Dove |
(1) (10/1 -82%)10/1(-82%) | (1) Golden Dove 10/1, Fair on the Flat (stays 1½m) and progressed from her hurdling bow when second of 7 in novice hurdle at Kempton (16f, good to soft) 10 days ago. Place claims again, Fair second at Kempton on second hurdle start and could give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Somethingtosomeone |
(6) (10/1 -25%)10/1(-25%) | (6) Somethingtosomeone 10/1, €3,000 3-y-o, Jet Away mare. Dam unraced half-sister to fair hurdler/chase winner up to 2½m (stayed 25f) Lord Rosskit. Wears hood. Runner-up on sole start in Irish points and market should guide with Cobden aboard. Point runner-up who makes rules debut with yard in good form and with Harry Cobden booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kissininthebackrow |
(3) (16/1 -100%)16/1(-100%) | (3) Kissininthebackrow 16/1, Fair Flat performer ran below that level when only sixth at Uttoxeter on her hurdles bow last month. Since scored on the level at Kempton (16f, 11/4) 22 days ago and she should do better in this sphere. Won on the Flat at Kempton (2m, AW) three weeks ago; may need a longer trip in this code. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hello Cello |
(2) (20/1 -67%)20/1(-67%) | (2) Hello Cello 20/1, Bred to stay well and progressed from her bumper debut when fourth in a 9-runner event at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) 40 days ago. May find a couple too speedy kept to this trip for hurdling debut. Unable to threaten in her two bumpers but no surprise to see an improved performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mon The Hoops |
(5) (250/1 +0%)250/1(+0%) | (5) Mon The Hoops 250/1, No promise in 2 bumpers or on hurdles debut. Well beaten in both bumpers and likewise when 300-1 for last month's hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SUNSET MARQUESA achieved a high level of form in bumpers last season before finishing a well-held second on her hurdling bow earlier this month. She did have a tendency to jump left at Uttoxeter but, with improvement likely in that department, Joe Tizzard's mare looks to have been found a fine opportunity. Loud And Proud brings plenty of pointing experience to the table and is sure to have a future in this discipline. Hello Cello can also progress now sent hurdling.
SUNSET MARQUESA was an above-average type in bumpers and finished a clear second despite her hurdling lacking fluency on hurdles bow, so sets a good standard even without considering potential improvement. Kissinthebackrow arrives on the back of a Flat win at Kempton and is expected to do better second time up over hurdles, while Loud And Proud rates as an interesting Rules newcomer for Harry Derham.
Bumper winner SUNSET MARQUESA was runner-up on her hurdle debut at Uttoxeter and can go one better today.

Irish Hill |
(1) (15/8 +6%)15/8(+6%) | (1) Irish Hill 15/8, Plenty of creditable efforts without success last term and dispelled a low-key reappearance effort in Silver Trophy at Chepstow when successful in handicap at Plumpton (20.5f) 17 days ago, perked up by change of headgear. Needs considering again up 3 lb. Returned to form to win at Plumpton recently and he's just 3lb higher today; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pyffo |
(2) (11/4 +31%)11/4(+31%) | (2) Pyffo 11/4, Upped his game again this summer, career-best display when winning 13-runner handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f) in June. Respectable fourth from 5 lb higher mark at Market Rasen (20.6f) followed a month later and respected now starting out for new yard/after a break. Won two in a row earlier in the season and respected on first run for Harry Derham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Getalead |
(6) (5/1 +58%)5/1(+58%) | (6) Getalead 5/1, Returned from 6 months off in fine form, winning handicaps here/Warwick and not disgraced from inflated mark when eighth in competitive Cheltenham handicap (21f) 6 days ago. This less demanding and no surprise to see a good showing in present groove, re-united with this rider. Two wins this autumn and faced tough task at Cheltenham last week; could play leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Geezer Rockstar |
(4) (6/1 -50%)6/1(-50%) | (4) Geezer Rockstar 6/1, Bumper/maiden hurdle winner who ran poorly on handicap debut at Sandown (2m) in April. Off 6 months, back on track whilst shaping as if he'll come on for the run when fifth of 14 in novice hurdle at Carlisle (20f) 28 days ago but his mark does demand progress. A return to form is needed but he's on a competitive mark judged on Ascot maiden win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
War Lord |
(3) (8/1 -14%)8/1(-14%) | (3) War Lord 8/1, Has tumbled in the weights in recent seasons and posted another good effort when third in handicap at Exeter (18.5f) on penultimate start. Second in 3-runner handicap chase at Plumpton (19.8f) 31 days ago but this looks tougher returned to this sphere. On a long losing sequence but there have been encouraging signs the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cloud Dancer |
(5) (8/1 +0%)8/1(+0%) | (5) Cloud Dancer 8/1, Well backed and shaped encouragingly after 5 months off when second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (17.7f, good) in September, closing all way to line. Cheekpieces on first time and he enters calculations back up in trip. Engaged 1.00 Warwick Wednesday. Weakened into fourth in first-time cheekpieces at Warwick yesterday. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Pyffo had excuses at Market Rasen in July and he'd been progressive prior to that so is worth a second look now in the care of Harry Derham. However, it looks best to side with IRISH HILL, who recorded a determined victory at Plumpton recently and a 3lb rise ought to be no barrier to further success. War Lord has been running with credit since returning in September and it would come as no surprise were he to be in the shake-up too.
IRISH HILL left his reappearance effort at Chepstow in his wake when successful in refitted cheekpieces (retained here) at Plumpton 17 days ago and a 3 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold showing. Getalead will find this less demanding than last week's Cheltenham assignment and better can be expected. Pyffo is another to note on debut for Harry Denham.
The rejuvenated GETALEAD (nap) ran respectably in the face of a tough task at the weights at Cheltenham last Friday and he's the pick.

Torneo |
(6) (2/1 +71%)2/1(+71%) | (6) Torneo 2/1, Fairly useful Flat winner in France and won a weak juvenile hurdle at Wetherby in January. Found only one too good on handicap debut at Fontwell following month but couldn't cope with a no-hiding-place introduction to chasing on return at Uttoxeter last month. Should improve, though. No match for first two on chase debut but it was a warm race and he could improve for it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Famoso |
(3) (3/1 +0%)3/1(+0%) | (3) Famoso 3/1, Largely consistent type who stripped fitter for his recent hurdling spin to make a winning return to fences at Hereford (16f, good) earlier this month, taking his record at that track to 2 wins and 6 placed efforts from 9 starts. 5 lb higher and fancied to be bang there. Three wins last season and scored at Hereford this month; respected up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hatos |
(4) (4/1 +20%)4/1(+20%) | (4) Hatos 4/1, Off the mark in this sphere at Ffos Las (16f) in February and improved when following up in 4-runner C&D handicap. Well supported but unable to live with a couple of chasing debutants on return/first outing since leaving Anthony Honeyball at Fontwell recently and now cheekpieces are applied. Completed double with C&D win in February; could improve for last month's reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
First Angel |
(1) (9/2 -64%)9/2(-64%) | (1) First Angel 9/2, Drew a blank for Laura Morgan but struck at the first time of asking for present yard at Stratford in May 2023. Beaten favourite next 2 starts but back to winning ways in first-time cheekpieces at Stratford (17f, good) when last seen 15 months ago. Betting can guide expectations on return. Two wins at Stratford last year; returns from long absence but he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Karaktere D'enfer |
(5) (15/2 -25%)15/2(-25%) | (5) Karaktere D'enfer 15/2, Close second to a useful sort in a newcomers race at Fontainebleau in March 2023 and more encouragement for this yard after 8 months off in 2m Uttoxeter maiden on return, considerately handled (reportedly had breathing problem). Failed to build on that here next time and now goes chasing. Benefits from valuable 4yo allowance on chase/handicap debut; interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Call Off The Dogs |
(2) (12/1 -41%)12/1(-41%) | (2) Call Off The Dogs 12/1, Made a fine start to the campaign, making it 3 wins from his first 4 starts (all at Fontwell) in September. Run of good form halted back there just less than a fortnight ago so needs to bounce back dropped back in trip. Three wins at Fontwell this season; below par there a fortnight ago but not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Delpotro |
(7) (14/1 +30%)14/1(+30%) | (7) Delpotro 14/1, Successful 2 out of his 3 starts over fences at Nort-sur-Erdre earlier this year. Claimed from Gabriel Leenders for €9,106 but has been well below that level on both starts for this yard (keener than ideal. Handicapper eases his grip but will need to settle better if he's to finish off his race. Two-time French chase winner; hasn't really shone on first two British starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FIRST ANGEL enjoyed a productive campaign after joining this yard in the spring of last year, culminating in an impressive all-the-way victory over 2m1f at Stratford. Nudged up 2lb on his return from the sidelines, he gets the vote to land the spoils. Torneo should strip fitter for his chasing debut third at Uttoxeter and he must be of interest off 2lb lower, while last-time-out Hereford winner Famoso completes the shortlist.
A few in with chances but the suggestion is FAMOSO, who made a winning return to fences at Hereford earlier this month and Matt Sheppard's 8-y-o is fancied to defy a 5 lb higher mark at the expense of First Angel, who made it 2 wins from 4 starts for this yard (both at Stratford) when last seen back in summer 2023. Torneo should improve on his initial effort over fences so can edge out Hatos for third.
The 4yo KARAKTERE D'ENFER is a possible improver on today's handicap and chase debut and he is taken to exploit an 8lb age allowance.

Dirty Den |
(2) (3/1 +10%)3/1(+10%) | (2) Dirty Den 3/1, Fair winner at 14f in bumpers and not disgraced when second of 10 in a maiden hurdle at Hereford (16.2f, good) in May. Ran to a similar level at Fakenham despite making mistakes and warrants respect now switching to a low-level handicap after a break for new yard. Listed bumper runner-up who could be on a good mark for this handicap debut. |

Penna Rossa |
(6) (5/1 -11%)5/1(-11%) | (6) Penna Rossa 5/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022 but produced a promising first effort for new yard when runner-up at Exeter in November. Ran too badly to be true at Stratford and looked back in form at Huntingdon just 3 days later. Poor strike-rate and inconsistent but has had a near miss this autumn; not discounted. |

Demilion |
(1) (8/1 -14%)8/1(-14%) | (1) Demilion 8/1, Fairly useful handicapper at best on Flat (stays 12.5f) for Charlie Johnston but ended 2023 out of sorts. Yet to get near that level over hurdles but could show more now handicapping. Some useful Flat form in 2023 and he has potential off his opening jumps mark. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Joe Tizzard has his string in fine form at present and his AMERICAN LAND gets the vote to bring up a double. The six-year-old gets in unpenalised for last week's Taunton success and he should prove tough to stop with a repeat of that effort. Highly tried last season, this represents an ease in grade for Dirty Den and he looks the main danger to the selection on his handicap debut. Demilion is respected most out of the remainder.
AMERICAN LAND escapes a penalty for last week's Taunton success and should prove hard to beat if turning up in similar form. Dirty Den and Penna Rossa are feared most.
This revolves around AMERICAN LAND, who won comfortably at Taunton last week and escapes a penalty. Dirty Den is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
