1st (5) (10/11 +27%) Meatloaf |
10/11(+27%) | (5) Meatloaf 10/11, Made a winning bumper start here in December and also posted an excellent second in listed bumper at Cheltenham. Signed off with another cosy success in bumper here and he rates a good prospect now hurdling. Yard has outstanding record in this too. Smart bumper horse held in high regard; yard has bossed this race in recent years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (8/1 +60%) Lily Luna |
8/1(+60%) | (10) Lily Luna 8/1, Soldier of Fortune mare who has made an encouraging start in bumpers, fourth here and at Cheltenham in the spring. Can take a step forward now going hurdling. Respectable bumper efforts and shouldn't be long in winning over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (17/2 -42%) Ballee |
17/2(-42%) | (1) Ballee 17/2, Improved on his debut form for Gerald Stephen Quinn when second of 9 in bumper at Stratford (16.3f, soft). Off 8 months ahead of his hurdles debut but one to consider for his new yard. Bought for £35,000 after finishing second in a Stratford bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (50/1 -52%) Thirtyfour Thirty |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Thirtyfour Thirty 50/1, Fairly useful bumper winner for Nigel Twiston-Davies in the summer. Last of 6 in novice hurdle (50/1) at Cheltenham (24f, soft) on hurdles bow 14 days ago though so he needs to take a big step forward. Bumper form respected; went 3m on hurdling debut and jumping was novicey. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (250/1 -150%) Mountain Bay |
250/1(-150%) | (6) Mountain Bay 250/1, Well held in pair of bumpers and fared little better when seventh of 11 in novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 33 days ago. Tailed off in both bumpers and suffered the same fate on his switch to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (150/1 -275%) Ferret Jeeter |
150/1(-275%) | (3) Ferret Jeeter 150/1, 10/1, encouraging debut seventh of 11 in novice hurdle at Fontwell (21.8f, good to soft) 6 months ago. In good hands and should progress on his return. Twice tailed off since finishing runner-up in his first bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (100/1 -52%) Hour Star |
100/1(-52%) | (4) Hour Star 100/1, Fair form shown in bumpers but he raced very keenly when fifth of 10 in novice hurdle at Newton Abbot (16.8f, heavy) on hurdles bow 21 days ago. Should still do better. His debut second was in an ordinary small-field bumper; huge improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (3/1 +33%) Walk On High |
3/1(+33%) | (8) Walk On High 3/1, Progressive type who shaped well when fourth of 17 in novice hurdle (22/1) at Exeter (16.7f, soft) when last seen out 11 months ago. Holds good form claims if fully tuned up for his return. Gives the impression that he needs further, in keeping with his dam. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (5/1 -11%) Dancing In Brazil |
5/1(-11%) | (2) Dancing In Brazil 5/1, Half-brother to numerous winners and landed bumper at Huntingdon on NH debut. Respectable efforts all 3 starts since and he's in the mix on his first go in this sphere. Unable to justify a penalty in bumpers but performed to a good level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
It is difficult to look past MEATLOAF, who scored twice in bumpers here last season and was runner-up at Listed level in January. Paul Nicholls has a good record here and the son of Doctor Dino could be a smart sort to go to war with this season. A promising second at Stratford in March, Ballee must be of interest on his first start for new connections, while the capable Dancing In Brazil is another to note.
Paul Nicholls has farmed this event in recent seasons and looks to hold sway once more with his promising dual bumper scorer MEATLOAF. Stablemate Annie K also brings plenty of potential and rates the chief threat, although Walk On High has the form to play a part too if fully wound up after a lengthy absence.
Paul Nicholls has a sweet spot for this meeting and, with MEATLOAF such a smart prospect, the 4yo can make a winning start.

1st (5) (4/1 +11%) Huelgoat |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Huelgoat 4/1, Much improved over fences last year, completing a quick-fire 4-timer at Newbury. Plenty of creditable efforts in defeat have followed, including when fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f) 43 days ago. Not taken lightly back in this sphere. Won four small-field chases last autumn but needs to better this season's hurdling form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (3/1 +45%) Enjoy Your Life |
3/1(+45%) | (11) Enjoy Your Life 3/1, Fairly useful ex-French winning hurdler/chaser. Yet to really fire for his current yard but no surprise to see him take a step forward on his reappearance. Good second over hurdles here in April; makes British chasing debut today; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (4/1 +11%) Flagrant Delitiep |
4/1(+11%) | (12) Flagrant Delitiep 4/1, Dual C&D winner who took a step back in the right direction when fourth in handicap at Plumpton (19.8f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Bold showing is on the cards from a falling mark. Regressed last season but ran okay last month and is well suited by this C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (16/1 +0%) Ede'iffs Elton |
16/1(+0%) | (10) Ede'iffs Elton 16/1, All 3 career wins have come over fences here and he signed off last term with a solid fourth in 3m Kempton handicap. One to consider back here off a 3 lb lower mark. Not one to rely upon but runs this track well and makes seasonal debut from a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (16/1 -60%) Midnight Midge |
16/1(-60%) | (6) Midnight Midge 16/1, A three-time winner for his current yard last season but he looked rusty after 8 months off when coming in last of 6 at Exeter (19.2f) 18 days ago. Can take a step forward now. Three wins (one over C&D) for this stable last season; safely held on reappearance outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (18/1 -13%) Stormy Flight |
18/1(-13%) | (4) Stormy Flight 18/1, Scored at Taunton in February and not disgraced given he had been off the track for five months when fading third of 7 in handicap here 23 days ago. Can give a good account. Ran well for a long way over 3m1f here on seasonal debut; a player over this shorter trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (40/1 -100%) Go Steady |
40/1(-100%) | (3) Go Steady 40/1, Enjoyed a good time of it last term, bagging handicaps at up to 2m6f Lingfield and Stratford. Veteran is in the mix on his seasonal return. Twice ran well in cheekpieces at end of last season; returns without headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 +25%) Dreaming Blue |
12/1(+25%) | (7) Dreaming Blue 12/1, Opened his chase account at Doncaster (20.5f) in March but was let down by his jumping when only fifth of 8 in handicap at Kempton in May. Remains with potential if he can improve his fencing. Not at best when last seen in May but form of two previous runs reads very well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (25/1 -108%) Dibble Decker |
25/1(-108%) | (1) Dibble Decker 25/1, Is clearly getting the hang of chasing now the cheekpieces have gone on and he landed a pair of 2m4f handicaps at Huntingdon. Posted another solid effort when fifth at Ludlow (23.8f) on his final run and much respected on his return. Dual winner at Huntingdon in early part of year; not seen since below-par run in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (25/1 -108%) Another Crick |
25/1(-108%) | (2) Another Crick 25/1, Course winner who signed off last term with success in 8-runner handicap chase at Warwick (20f, good to soft) in May. Needs considering on his reappearance despite a 5 lb rise. Finished with good rattle to win at Warwick in May but younger rivals appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (7/1 +18%) Volkovka |
7/1(+18%) | (8) Volkovka 7/1, Fairly useful hurdler who has shaped with encouragement in this sphere, signing off with a very good second of 6 in handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, good to soft). Weighted to go well on her reappearance. Seemed to be getting her act together over fences when close second at Ludlow in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (20/1 -67%) Alto Alto |
20/1(-67%) | (9) Alto Alto 20/1, Left previous chasing efforts behind when winning 17f handicap at Plumpton in April. Last of 6 there following month however so needs to bounce back after his break. Stayed on well to open chasing account in April; more needed here, but he's on a 6yo. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Slight preference is for MIDNIGHT MIDGE, who was a taking winner over C&D in March and should come on a lot for his recent return at Exeter. The ground may not be ideal for the nine-year-old, but he has a good record here and can get the better of old rival Huelgoat. Enjoy Your Life is interesting on his French form, while Warwick winner Another Crick and Dibble Decker are entitled to be thereabouts as well.
Plenty are in with a shout. FLAGRANT DELITIEP goes very well round here and hinted at a revival with his recent Plumpton fourth so edges the vote off a 2 lb lower mark. Volkovka is less exposed and could prove a big threat if, as expected, taking another step forward this term. Huelgoat, Ede'iffs Elton and Enjoy Your Life all need factoring in too.
Second to a much-improved rival over hurdles here in April, ENJOY YOUR LIFE is selected to make a winning British chase debut.

1st (4) (4/5 -10%) Knappers Hill |
4/5(-10%) | (4) Knappers Hill 4/5, Won 3 of his 6 starts over timber last term, putting up a personal best when taking Select Hurdle at Sandown on final start. Posted promising second on chase debut at Chepstow (19.5f, heavy) last month and is the one to beat. Smart hurdler; found one too good on chasing debut but didn't run badly; big player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/2 +73%) Lady Adare |
11/2(+73%) | (6) Lady Adare 11/2, Three-time winner over hurdles who got off the mark at the first attempt in this sphere when taking 7-runner novice at Worcester (20f, soft, 3/1) 30 days ago. May have more to offer over fences but faces a much stiffer task now. Won against other mares on last month's chasing debut; faces a tougher task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 -11%) Captain Conby |
5/1(-11%) | (1) Captain Conby 5/1, Useful hurdler who made a winning start over fences at Killarney (17f, good to soft, 11/8) last month. Somewhat disappointing when second in higher grade at Tipperary since but warrants respect nonetheless. Useful handicap hurdler who has made a solid start to his chasing career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/1 +13%) Givega |
7/1(+13%) | (3) Givega 7/1, Won all 3 completed starts over hurdles last season and was well supported when pulled up (broke blood vessel) in Imperial Cup at Sandown on final outing. Pitched straight into Grade 2 event on chasing bow but was successful on sole outing in points back in 2021. Looked useful on his good days over hurdles last season; open to improvement over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (16/1 -129%) Doyen Star |
16/1(-129%) | (2) Doyen Star 16/1, Won both his outings over hurdles last term, posting fairly-useful form when taking 10-runner novice when last seen at Chepstow (16f, good) 9 months ago. Asked a big question on debut over fences but is worth monitoring in the market. Irish point winner; 2-2 in novice hurdles last season; an interesting recruit to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -21%) Opening Bid |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Opening Bid 40/1, Fairly-useful chaser who bagged his fifth win of season when readily taking 4-runner handicap at Exeter (19.2f, good) 30 days ago. In deeper waters now, though. Five chase wins this season; hiked up in class today, though, and wants better ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
The winner of the Elite Hurdle on this card last year, KNAPPERS HILL sets a lofty standard and there should be plenty of improvement forthcoming after a promising second on his chase debut at Chepstow last month. The son of Valirann is two from three around here and he should have too much for the Irish raider Captain Conby, who was no match for the veteran Sharjah at Tipperary last time. A taking winner of both starts over hurdles at Chepstow, Doyen Star could be anything in this sphere and must also be considered.
It's hard to look past KNAPPERS HILL, who was much the best of these over hurdles and will have learnt plenty from his encouraging chasing bow at Chepstow. Irish-raider Captain Conby may give him most to think about.
Free-going front-runner GIVEGA looked exciting on his good days over hurdles last season and could take some catching if he jumps well.

1st (10) (5/1 +38%) Blackjack Magic |
5/1(+38%) | (10) Blackjack Magic 5/1, Took very well to chasing for the Anthony Honeyball yard last term, winning small-field handicaps in the mud at Exeter and Uttoxeter. It's a slight concern that his jumping didn't stand up to the rigours of a more competitive race in between but he should have more improvement in him this season. Both chase wins came in small fields but jumps well and unexposed as a stayer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3/1 +10%) Threeunderthrufive |
3/1(+10%) | (4) Threeunderthrufive 3/1, Dual Grade 2 winner as a novice chaser. Failed to score late season but ended the campaign with good fourth in Scottish Grand National at Ayr and he's much respected off an unchanged mark on his reappearance (has had wind surgery). Top yard seeking a fifth win in this since 2017. 4th in the Scottish National; still capable of better following wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 -25%) Frodon |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Frodon 5/1, Grand servant who defied top weight on last year's reappearance. Plenty of smart efforts in defeat later in the season and if he gets in a good rhythm at the head of affairs he looks sure to make a bold bid to defend his crown. Has earned legendary status down the years; defied the very same mark 12 months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (8/1 +6%) Certainly Red |
8/1(+6%) | (7) Certainly Red 8/1, Likeable sort completed a hat-trick last season, scoring twice here either side of a victory at Sandown. Found life tougher from a higher mark when seventh in the bet365 Gold Cup on final outing but eased 2lb for that and his course record and capability when fresh affords him respect. Course form ticks a big box but this demands a career-best from him.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 -29%) The Big Breakaway |
9/1(-29%) | (3) The Big Breakaway 9/1, Back to his best when recording good seconds in a valuable handicap at Haydock and the Welsh National at Chepstow at the end of 2022. Pulled up in the Ultima at Cheltenham and fell early in the Grand National in the spring but he's capable of bouncing back after a break. Strong stayer who wouldn't want the ground to dry out; solid chance otherwise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (14/1 +36%) Forward Plan |
14/1(+36%) | (11) Forward Plan 14/1, Took well to fences last season, winning twice around 3m at Southwell and good second in Ayr novice handicap on final start. He is 7 lb wrong at the weights on reappearance, though, so a big career best will be needed. Probably progressive but being 7lb out of the weights is the last thing he needs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (25/1 -25%) Gustavian |
25/1(-25%) | (9) Gustavian 25/1, Belatedly got off the mark as a chaser in a 3-runner contest at Exeter (3m) in February and in the process of running creditably when coming down 2 out at Uttoxeter 3 weeks later. Off since. Has competitive form off this mark but not in races this strong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/1 -43%) Sam Brown |
10/1(-43%) | (2) Sam Brown 10/1, Rejuvenated by first-time blinkers when looking the likely winner of a 3m handicap at the Punchestown Festival in April until falling 2 out (just over 2 lengths ahead at the time). The blinkers are left off on this first outing since. Smart staying chaser very capable of holding his own in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (14/1 -17%) Ashtown Lad |
14/1(-17%) | (6) Ashtown Lad 14/1, Took very well to the National fences when landing the Becher at Aintree last December. Placed over hurdles on next 2 starts but ended his campaign on a low note when pulled up in the Topham back at Aintree in April. Only 4lb higher than for last season's Becher Chase win; chance if fit enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 +29%) Courtland |
20/1(+29%) | (5) Courtland 20/1, Like many from the yard he's thrived this summer, completing a hat-trick before an excellent second in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen. Resumed winning ways at Worcester (23f) in August but a further 10 lb rise found him out in the Old Roan at Aintree last month. Races over 3m+ for first time. Had a good year but this test of stamina on softish ground might be too much. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (25/1 -39%) Ballygrifincottage |
25/1(-39%) | (8) Ballygrifincottage 25/1, Useful novice hurdler in 2021/22. Looked a smart recruit to chasing when winning at Haydock last November but pulled up in 2 subsequent starts last season. Remote last of 3 on Newton Abbot reappearance last month and has lot to prove all of a sudden. Has first-time cheekpieces added to tongue tie. Ran a laboured race back from wind surgery at Newton Abbot only three weeks ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Last year's impressive winner Frodon is bound to have his supporters as he goes in search of a remarkable 20th career win, but he's 11 now and with the ground more testing than ideal, he may be worth taking on. Stablemate Threeunderthrufive looks a viable alternative after wind surgery, but preference is for Dan Skelton's ASHTOWN LAD. The nine-year-old has gone well fresh in the past and showed his class last season when winning the Becher Chase from just 4lb lower.
FRODON has been dropped to the same mark as when landing this 12 months ago. This 11-y-o still looked just about as good as ever in the spring and can make a winning start to a campaign for a remarkable seventh time in his illustrious career. Stablemate Threeunderthrufive was a good fourth in the Scottish Grand National when last seen and can provide the chief threat ahead of Blackjack Magic, who is capable of better again but needs to prove his jumping can cope with the demands of a good race.
Frodon and Threeunderthrufive have clear claims but SAM BROWN (nap) has a lot in his favour if he's on one of his good days.

1st (1) (1/2 +32%) Rubaud |
1/2(+32%) | (1) Rubaud 1/2, Building up a good record over hurdles, his speed again in evidence as he made all in 2m listed race at Kempton on return 3 weeks ago. The one to beat under a penalty. Very much the form pick provided he goes on the ground and settles without a hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 -38%) Hansard |
11/4(-38%) | (3) Hansard 11/4, Impressive as he won his first 2 starts over hurdles for this yard last winter. No match for Rubaud in the Dovecote in February but big step forward when not beaten far in the Top Novices' at Aintree and clear chance on that form. Smart novice; strong traveller who should be suited by this test of speed around here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (28/1 +58%) Glorious Zoff |
28/1(+58%) | (2) Glorious Zoff 28/1, Fairly useful handicap hurdler. Usually gives his running but would be a surprising winner in this grade. There's nothing in his profile to suggest he can prevail on these unfavourable terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/1 +73%) Sacre Coeur |
11/1(+73%) | (5) Sacre Coeur 11/1, Well suited by the switch to front-running tactics as she won a couple of handicap chases this autumn. Plenty to find on these terms though and surely only playing for minor honours. Returns to hurdling with a lot on his plate at these weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Paul Nicholls' Rubaud is likely to be all the rage after a winning reappearance but he still needs to prove himself on ground this testing and the concession of 6lb to one of his former victims, HANSARD, may just prove too much. Gary Moore's charge never fired when sent off favourite for their previous clash at Kempton in February but he proved that running to be all wrong when a close fourth in a Grade 1 event at Aintree in the spring. Sacre Coeur is the pick of the remainder.
With West Balboa seemingly destined for Aintree this is at the mercy of RUBAUD, who impressed when scoring at Kempton on his return and looks to have been well placed once again. Hansard ran a cracker in the Top Novices' Hurdle and is the obvious danger.
Rubaud is improving at a rate of knots but ground this soft wouldn't be his preferred surface and HANSARD should give him a race.

1st (7) (18/1 +10%) Good Look Charm |
18/1(+10%) | (7) Good Look Charm 18/1, Dual hurdles winner in early 2022 who showed similar form over fences last term despite being held back her jumping. Reverts to timber for her reappearance and she can't be discounted. 0-6 over fences last season; reverts to hurdling with a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 +0%) Vicki Vale |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Vicki Vale 5/1, Taking scorer on hurdles debut in November and she resumed winning ways in 5-runner novice at Taunton (16.5f) 6 months ago. Since undergone breathing surgery. Goes uip in trip for her handicap bow and is firmly in the picture. 2-6 during first season over hurdles; ought to be very competitive on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (20/1 -67%) Space Voyage |
20/1(-67%) | (2) Space Voyage 20/1, Took very well to hurdling last term, completing a hat-trick of small-field novice events at Ludlow (21.2f). Ran poorly on her chasing debut at Worcester last month but has since had a breathing op and can bounce back reverted to this sphere. Promising novice hurdler last season; flopped on recent chase debut (breathing problem). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3/1 -50%) Lime Avenue |
3/1(-50%) | (4) Lime Avenue 3/1, Impressive bumper winner on debut at Chepstow and she bounced back in style to land C&D novice by 5 lengths from Great Snow final run. Goes into handicaps on the back of a wind op with more to come. Player. Dominated C&D novice in February; commands respect on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (8/1 +27%) Plenty Of Time |
8/1(+27%) | (3) Plenty Of Time 8/1, Lightly-raced winning hurdler who made light off an 11-month absence for another new yard when landing 2m4f handicap chase here last month. Can't be discounted switched back to hurdles. Low-mileage 7yo; won here off 3lb lower on recent chase/stable debut; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (2/1 +58%) Great Snow |
2/1(+58%) | (6) Great Snow 2/1, Landed Ludlow maiden (3m) in February and recorded three good placed efforts after for Neil Mulholland, signing off with second of 5 in handicap at Ffos Las (21.9f). Much respected on her yard debut/return. Placed in Grade 2 handicap in March; makes stable debut after £100,000 sale. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (5/1 +9%) Ilovethenightlife |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Ilovethenightlife 5/1, Scopey sort who raised her game switched to a handicap when winning Grade 2 at Newbury (20.5f) in March. Possbily feeling the effects of that when well held at Cheltenahm after and no surprise to see her bounce back on her return. Grade 2 handicap winner in March and could easily have more to offer this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (40/1 -122%) Ostrava Du Berlais |
40/1(-122%) | (8) Ostrava Du Berlais 40/1, Fair maiden hurdler/chaser for Patrice Quinton in France. Changed hands for €30,000 in November 2022 and much respected starting out for her excellent yard despite a 12-month absence. 0-11 when trained in France; makes British debut after 13-month absence; market may guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A tricky puzzle to solve with plenty in with chances but the tentative nod goes in the direction of LOVETHENIGHTLIFE. Joe Tizzard's charge struggled to land a blow in Listed company on her most recent start at Cheltenham in April but she can get back to winning ways now eased in grade. After a decisive success over C&D last time, Lime Avenue can give the selection most to think about on her handicap bow, while Plenty Of Time is also worthy of a close look.
None of these can be ruled out but Paul Nicholls' LIME AVENUE has already shown she goes well ad this idiosyncratic track and with more to come on the back of wind surgery she can come out on top again. Vicki Vale is another to have undergone breathing surgery since her last success and next on the list, although a solid case can also be made for Ilovethenightlife, Space Voyage and Ostrava du Berlais in a fascinating contest.
Handicap debutante LIME AVENUE won a C&D novice with quite a bit left in the tank in February and gets the nod.

17th (12) (25/1 -79%) Solstice Saint |
25/1(-79%) | (12) Solstice Saint 25/1, Half-brother to 4 winners and, while he didn't come up to expectations when only fifth at Worcester 6 months ago, he may improve for that experience. Beaten 13l at Worcester but it wasn't a bad race and he was one of the favourites. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BASKERVILLE made a very pleasing start to his career over 2m at Stratford in August and plenty of improvement can be expected from Alan King's gelding. The four-year-old was beaten just half a length on that occasion and a repeat of that effort would see him on the scene here. The well-related Roman Roy is feared most for the powerful combination of Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden, while Horaces Pearl looks primed to follow them home.
HORACES PEARL created a good impression over C&D on debut and is worth a chance to defy a penalty for all that this is a better contest. Baskerville is a big danger on the back of a promising start and point bumper winner Saint Anapolino needs considering.
While it's never easy to defy penalties in races of this nature, HORACES PEARL beat a good horse here in April.
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
