(5) Muskoka 13/8, Easily got off the mark in 7-runner handicap chase at Hereford (25.2f, soft, 5/2) 26 days ago. Not taken lightly despite a 7 lb hike.

12:50 Wincanton Handicap Chase (Class 4) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

IDEAL DES BORDES showed plenty of promise as a novice hurdler last season and got off the mark under Rules at Kempton last May. With that in mind, Nicky Henderson's gelding merits plenty of respect on his chasing debut and is sure to have been well schooled. Wrappedupinmay failed to fire on his first start over fences but it is too soon to be writing him off. Others to note are Muskoka and Lagonda.

Nicky Henderson's lightly-raced point scorer IDEAL DES BORDES catches the eye now he goes chasing so is taken to make a winning start at the chief expense of Hereford scorer Muskoka. Both Wrappedupinmay and Lagonda can also have a say in this intriguing handicap.

Although still a maiden over fences, LAGONDA has returned in good order and chased home the progressive Lady Balko at Hereford latest.

(1) Eternal Angel 1/3, Well backed and showed plenty when runner-up on debut in an Ascot bumper in November. Again shaped well when third in 10-runner novice on hurdles bow at Huntingdon the following month and clearly the one to beat here, despite failing to progress when only third of 5 at Doncaster last time.
Didn't appear to stay 2m3f last time; drops in distance and has the best form of these.

(6) South Omo Zone 3/1, Runner-up in a point and struck at the second time of asking in bumpers at Hereford last January. While that form isn't nothing to get too excited about, there is at least some substance to it (second, third and fourth are all subsequent winners) and he's respected on hurdles debut for new yard.
Bumper winner; absent 12 months but goes hurdling in a race lacking much depth.

(4) I'd Go Maniac 13/2, Left his debut effort well behind when cosily landing a 9-runner bumper at Market Rasen last summer. Put in his place at Ludlow next time and then checked out rather tamely on hurdles bow at Wetherby, but the latter was a Class 2 contest and he's surely capable of better in this sphere.
Bumper winner; ran in a fair hurdle at Wetherby but was beaten a distance.

(2) Gore Point 22/1, Flat-bred gelding who got back on track following 10 months off when winning 5-runner bumper at Stratford in October, making all and quickening clear straight. However, far too headstrong and very little promise switched to hurdles the last twice. Yard also saddles Stylia.
Bumper winner but again he raced freely when tailed off in a Southwell maiden.

13:25 Wincanton Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ETERNAL ANGEL has shown ability in all three previous starts and the son of Authorized has been found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. That said, I'd Go Maniac won a bumper last year and is likely to improve on his hurdling debut at Wetherby in November, while South Omo Zone should not be underestimated on his debut for Olly Murphy.

It was a shade disappointing that ETERNAL ANGEL failed to deliver when sent off favourite for a Doncaster novice during the Christmas period, having shaped well prior to that in a bumper and on debut in this sphere at Huntingdon. However, he still showed enough on Town Moor to suggest that a race of this nature will be well within his grasp. Bumper winner South Omo Zone is interesting switched to hurdles on his first run for Olly Murphy and is clear second choice ahead of I'd Go Maniac.

A very ordinary maiden and it's hard to get away from ETERNAL ANGEL who has the best form and will be suited by the drop in trip.

14:00 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ST LUKES CHELSEA has improved with every start since switching to hurdles last year and his recent second at Fontwell suggests that an opening mark of 98 should be workable. Dirty Den showed more promise when fourth over C&D last time and cannot be discounted off a 4lb lower mark. The shortlist is completed by John Betjeman, Mairis Icon and Strong Belle.

This could go the way of ST LUKES CHELSEA who travelled well when runner-up at Fontwell last time out and can build on it now sent into handicap company for the first time. Dirty Den is feared most off a handy-looking mark, although Mr Zee, John Betjeman and Another Fine Mess all warrant plenty of respect too in a very open contest.

Plenty with chances in an open race. A likely improver is ANOTHER FINE MESS who is tackling his first handicap.

14:35 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Kado De Joie supplemented his victory at Fontwell when accounting for the reopposing Fine Casting at Lingfield last month. Although Nicky Henderson's charge warrants respect, a further 6lb rise in the ratings may scupper his hat-trick bid and LOVE OF NEYMORE is a shade more appealing. The seven-year-old mare made all over C&D 30 days ago and Sean Clarke's 10lb claim may prove crucial. Market support for handicap debutant Firestream off a 718-day absence would be interesting.

LOKI'S MISCHIEF is armed with potential now stepping into handicap company and is a step ahead of the assessor, too, given that he's due to go up 7 lb for last week's highly encouraging effort in a Taunton novice. The 5-y-o shades preference ahead of Fine Casting, who is taken to reverse last month's Lingfield placings with the up-and-coming Kado de Joie on these revised terms. That said, the latter is respected in his hat-trick bid and Firestream is of interest, despite the lengthy absence.

Kado De Joie is feared but there are others with chances and LOKI'S MISCHIEF could be on a nice mark for this handicap debut.

15:10 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

GUSTOSO relished the step up in distance when landing the spoils over an extended 3m1f at Hereford 36 days ago. A 5lb higher mark may prove on the lenient side for the six-year-old and he looks capable of following up. Phantomofthepoints looked set to regain the winning thread but for hanging badly on the run-in and finishing fourth at Chepstow latest. David Pipe's inmate is feared most, ahead of last-time-out winners Grozni and Cloud Dancer.

A few with chances but CLOUD DANCER relished the step up in trip when going in at Doncaster last time and can defy a 6 lb rise. Gustoso also remains unexposed as a stayer on the back of his Hereford success and rates a big danger though with Grozni, Lemoncello and Rivers Corner in the picture too.

Losing his focus after the last almost certainly cost PHANTOMOFTHEPOINTS (nap) the race at Chepstow but he retains staying potential.

15:45 Wincanton Handicap Chase (Class 3) 27f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

There has been no stopping KING TURGEON of late, as he completed his hat-trick in fine style when landing a premier handicap at Cheltenham last month. With things clicking into place for David Pipe's seven-year-old, it's hard to imagine he's reached his ceiling yet. Katate Dori, now two from two over fences following his recent Chepstow triumph, is 5lb well-in and must be respected. Collectors Item finished second in the London National at Sandown and he is another to consider.

KATATE DORI has created an excellent impression since sent over fences and a 5 lb rise for his comfortable Chepstow victory doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from going 3-3. David Pipe's resurgent King Turgeon rates the obvious threat in his bid to complete a four-timer, although the likes of Take Your Time, Ballygrifincottage and Collectors Item can all have a say too in this cracking handicap.

Viewing was limited at Chepstow but KATATE DORI emerged from the gloom to win as he liked and this 7yo might be going places.

16:15 Wincanton NH Flat Race (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The market should be a useful indicator and 200,000-pound purchase Necronaut is likely to prove popular for the Paul Nicholls team. However, preference is for BOSSMAN JACK. The son of Jack Hobbs is a half-brother to four winners, most notably the useful Gidleigh Park, and it would come as no surprise were he up to the task on debut. Others to note include Bara Tara and Kop Land.

No form to go on but some of the top yards represented, with £200,000 buy NECRONAUT selected over Bossman Jack and Kop Land before betting clues.

The eyes are drawn to the £200,000 that NECRONAUT fetched last year and his dam is from the family of Denman.
