1st (4) (10/3 -77%) Lady In The Park |
10/3(-77%) | (4) Lady In The Park 10/3, Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points in March and went with plenty of zest when third in a bumper at Aintree and on his hurdling debut in Uttoxeter novice this winter. Has more to offer. Ties in closely with Sweet Honey B on penultimate effort; major contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 +13%) Dontyawantme |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Dontyawantme 7/2, A fairly useful bumper winner for Fergal O'Brien and shaped well for a long way when fourth in a C&D novice on hurdling/stable debut last month. Open to progress and a big player. Should improve with C&D reappearance under her belt; best bumper form is respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/2 -10%) Sweet Honey B |
11/2(-10%) | (7) Sweet Honey B 11/2, Won sole start in point bumpers and probably should have followed up when runner-up in bumper at Aintree, going left when headed 1f out. Encouraging third at Lingfield on her hurdles debut too so needs considering. Placed in both rules starts; holds solid claims judged on record thus far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/4 +63%) Micks Jet |
6/4(+63%) | (5) Micks Jet 6/4, Runner-up in a point and scored impressively in a Cheltenham bumper in April. Soon back to form when third in a listed contest there last month and is worth a second look on her hurdles debut. Placed in Listed bumper at Cheltenham last month; leading claims switched to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (25/1 -25%) Chatshow Host |
25/1(-25%) | (1) Chatshow Host 25/1, Point winner who plugged on late when fifth in a bumper at Newbury and failed to feature in a novice at Hexham on hurdling debut 8 months later. Others preferred. From a useful family; open to improvement on this second hurdles attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 -267%) Lady Alex |
22/1(-267%) | (3) Lady Alex 22/1, 25/1, third of 12 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) on hurdles bow, not knocked about. Off 14 months but still likely to improve and worth a market check. Absent since finishing third at Uttoxeter 14 moths ago; market instructive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (25/1 -25%) Missy Ava |
25/1(-25%) | (6) Missy Ava 25/1, Fom the family of useful hurdler/smart chaser (winner up to 3¼m, also runner-up in Grand National) Oscar Time. Stable has a few decent novice hurdlers so she's worth a second look in betting, 10,000euros foal; sole newcomer in the field; market informative. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MICKS JET proved her 66/1 success in a Cheltenham bumper was no fluke when putting a disappointing comeback behind by her by making the frame in a Listed NH Flat race back at Prestbury Park. She is bred to excel over obstacles and is preferred to Lady In The Park, who was pipped for second by Sweet Honey B at Aintree prior to again taking third at Uttoxeter. Sweet Honey B didn't quite perform to that level at Lingfield subsequently, while Dontyawantme is worth a look.
DONTYAWANTME made a promising start in this sphere for her new yard when fourth over C&D so this fairly useful bumper scorer looks the way to go. Lucinda Russell's Lady In The Park also has better days ahead of her and rates the main danger, although hurdling newcomers Micks Jet and Missy Ava could have a say too, especially if the market vibes are positive.
On bumper form, MICKS JET holds a particularly good chance. Dontyawantme is second choice.

1st (1) (13/8 -8%) Tom Cody |
13/8(-8%) | (1) Tom Cody 13/8, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, landed 4-runner handicap chase at Newcastle (23.4f, soft, 4/7) 12 days ago. In the picture nudged up 2 lb with few miles still on the clock. Took well to first-time cheekpieces at Newcastle this month; respected off just 2lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +10%) Aristobulus |
3/1(+10%) | (5) Aristobulus 3/1, Got off the mark over hurdles in 4-runner handicap at Southwell (20.4f, heavy) 28 days ago. Tongue tied and much respected now going over fences. Made all at Southwell on latest hurdles run; possibilities if proving as good over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +58%) Great Ballinboris |
5/1(+58%) | (3) Great Ballinboris 5/1, Off 10 months before showing promise when sixth in Wetherby novice hurdle (19.7f) last November. However, failed to build on that there next time and off 11 months ahead of his chase bow (has also had a wind op). Absent for over a year; possible improver on handicap/chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (9/2 -64%) Kalpaga |
9/2(-64%) | (2) Kalpaga 9/2, French import who cashed in on a reduced mark over hurdles at Hereford (2m4f) in April. Best of her three runs over fences when excellent fourth of 10 in handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, heavy) 20 days ago. Form has been franked so big shout. Ran respectably in similar event at Ludlow last time; well weighted on best hurdles form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 -33%) Ffree Pedro |
10/1(-33%) | (4) Ffree Pedro 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Shaped as if needing the run after 9 months off when sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Newcastle (20.3f, soft, 10/3) 12 days ago. Makes chase debut in first-time cheekpieces and one to consider. May be capable of improvement on chase debut with headgear applied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (22/1 -57%) Sehayli |
22/1(-57%) | (6) Sehayli 22/1, Completed a hat-trick over hurdles in 2020/21 for Johnny Farrelly but hasn't really scaled the same heights since. Has something to prove now belatedly going chasing. Far from reliable in recent times; not a solid proposition on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TOM CODY gained compensation for a narrow Newcastle defeat when returning there to land the odds in first-time cheekpieces. He probably didn't beat much but has plenty of scope for improvement and can go in again. The four-year-old Aristobulus isn't exactly bred for fences, but jumped well enough to make all over hurdles at Southwell and his weight-for-age allowance might come in handy. Kalpaga took a step back in the right direction at Ludlow and she completes the shortlist.
KALPAGA turned in much her best effort over fences when fourth at Ludlow last time and with that form working out well she looks very much the way to go. Recent Newcastle scorer Tom Cody rates the obvious threat to Tim Vaughan's mare, although fencing newcomers Ffree Pedro and Aristobulus also need factoring in, especially if the market vibes are positive.
Provided he copes with the drop back in distance, TOM CODY could well show further progress. Kalpaga is second choice.

1st (2) (11/4 +50%) Elogio |
11/4(+50%) | (2) Elogio 11/4, Wide-margin winner of Aintree bumper on debut/sole start for Richard Bandey last November. Fair form over hurdles for current yard, developing a consistent record, and this is slightly easier than last 2 races he's contested. Drop back in trip will help, too. Stretched by 3m at Ascot last time and he's a possible now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (9/2 +31%) Mister Barclay |
9/2(+31%) | (11) Mister Barclay 9/2, Failed to trouble the judge first 3 starts over hurdles, but had the look of one who may do better in handicaps and duly confirmed that impression when third on handicap bow at Hereford (16.2f, good to soft) in April. Shaped quite nicely on reappearance at Doncaster. Promising 3rd on handicap debut in April and could build on last month's reappearance run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (12/1 +40%) Emotional Roller |
12/1(+40%) | (12) Emotional Roller 12/1, Maiden Irish pointer and little encouragement so far under Rules. Handicap debut. Well beaten over hurdles but makes handicap debut off lowly mark with yard in good form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (9/1 +0%) Heard That |
9/1(+0%) | (9) Heard That 9/1, Comfortably held sole outing in bumpers and just modest form in his qualifying runs. Return to further will suit for in-form yard and he may have a bigger effort in him. 3m point runner-up who could improve now up in trip on handicap debut; on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (22/1 -38%) Samourai One |
22/1(-38%) | (10) Samourai One 22/1, Placed on 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers. Clearly been hard to train and minor encouragement only over hurdles. Handicap debut with cheekpieces on. Well beaten on all three hurdle runs but promise in bumpers; check betting on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (10/1 +0%) One Step Up |
10/1(+0%) | (7) One Step Up 10/1, Has run to only a modest level in a trio of novice/maiden hurdles and failed to improve for switch to handicaps when pulled up at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) 46 days ago. Needs to leave that well behind if he's to figure. Pulled up on h'cap debut at Hexham but on heavy going; ability previously; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (13/2 +7%) Velasco |
13/2(+7%) | (8) Velasco 13/2, Back on form earlier this year, confirming previous encouragement when landing a 7-runner handicap at Hexham in June. Fair efforts both starts since and eased 2 lb, which makes him of interest. Just one win from his 22 starts but that came in June and he's not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (33/1 -175%) Jeu Sacre |
33/1(-175%) | (4) Jeu Sacre 33/1, Fair form over hurdles and fences for J. Delaunay in France, changing hands for €32,000 in November. Unproven beyond 17f but joined a successful yard so one to monitor in the betting. 4yo who has shown promise in defeat in France and is not ruled out on his British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (5) (33/1 -106%) Mahler Moon |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Mahler Moon 33/1, Well beaten in bumpers but not without promise in novice/maiden hurdles in the spring. In top hands but hard to get excited by what he's achieved both starts back. Well beaten in first two handicaps but in top hands and perhaps wind op will do the trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (8/1 -60%) Onewaywest |
8/1(-60%) | (3) Onewaywest 8/1, Inexperience proved his undoing when chasing home one from the Nicky Henderson yard on debut in a Worcester bumper in May and made a solid start to hurdling when second twice this autumn. One to consider on handicap debut with promise of more to come. Runner-up on all three starts and open to improvement now back up in trip on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 -200%) Bataillon |
12/1(-200%) | (1) Bataillon 12/1, Showed fair form when runner-up in a pair of minor events at Toulouse last spring but never landed a blow on UK debut in Ascot novice last month. May do better now sent handicapping, though. Showed promise in France and this very lightly raced 5yo could improve for his Ascot sixth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (16/1 -60%) Strackan |
16/1(-60%) | (6) Strackan 16/1, Bred to be stayer and has shaped accordingly in his qualifying runs. May not be totally straightforward but now goes handicapping. Not obviously well treated for h'cap debut but unexposed and there's potential in pedigree. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ONEWAYWEST has found only one too strong on each of his three appearances to date, including when chasing home a smart subsequent winner at Ffos Las. His initial handicap mark could prove quite lenient, although the same can be said for Bataillon, who began his British career in a good Ascot maiden. Elogio was fifth in a handicap on that same card in Berkshire, while Strackan is fancied to step forward on his first foray outside of maiden/novice company.
There should be more to come from ONEWAYWEST on this quick switch to handicaps and, representing a yard among the winners, he's just about the most persuasive option. Velasco seems sure to give a good account, with Heard That of interest now his stamina is drawn out.
Having caught the eye when a staying-on third over 2m at Hereford in April, MISTER BARCLAY gets the nod ahead of Heard That.

1st (5) (10/3 +72%) Fontaine Collonges |
10/3(+72%) | (5) Fontaine Collonges 10/3, Benefited from step up to 25.6f when landing a valuable Haydock handicap on her reappearance last season. Ended that campaign on a downer but was well backed ahead of her return at Sandown 17 days ago (overjumped and unseated rider at first). Unseated rider early on seasonal debut; remains only 1lb above last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 +42%) Empire Steel |
7/2(+42%) | (3) Empire Steel 7/2, Back to form when landing a 4-runner listed chase at Kelso (3m, good to soft) in March. Creditable 4¼ lengths third of 6 to Elvis Mail on 3¼m reappearance there, jumping boldly and racing with plenty of zest. Likely to go well with that under his belt (luckless in this 2 years ago). Held every chance when falling four out in this contest in 2021; interesting back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (5/1 +23%) Into Overdrive |
5/1(+23%) | (2) Into Overdrive 5/1, Different proposition over fences, completing the 4-timer on reappearance here (19.4f) last season. Beaten only by L'Homme Presse in the Rehearsal at Newcastle before quickly resuming winning ways in this 12 months ago. Excuses in Ultima at Cheltenham final start and expected to bounce back. Form dipped when last seen but progressive otherwise; successful in this race last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (6/1 +14%) Houston Texas |
6/1(+14%) | (6) Houston Texas 6/1, Completed a hat-trick over fences at Carlisle on return last campaign and bidding for another hat-trick after winning the same race on this season's return, going clear of another thriving sort. However, more needed off 10 lb higher here in better race (3 lb out of weights). 5-10 over rules fences; faces harder task from 3lb out of weights but arrives in top form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/4 +66%) Karl Philippe |
11/4(+66%) | (4) Karl Philippe 11/4, Fine start to last season, scoring here (19.4f) on return prior to finding just one too good over same C&D on Boxing Day. However, let down by jumping last 3 starts, including when respectable third at Newbury on comeback. Has performed well (won/second) in two starts at Wetherby; on a workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (15/2 -25%) Does He Know |
15/2(-25%) | (1) Does He Know 15/2, Made up into a smart novice chaser when a 3-time winner, including in Ascot Grade 2. Fell at the first at Kelso on return last season but showed no ill effects when defying top weight in handicap at Cheltenham. Decent third in Denman Chase at Newbury since and respected again after 10 months off. 4-8 over rules fences; has a good record when fresh; likely player on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
INTO OVERDRIVE landed the corresponding event from a 3lb lower mark 12 months ago. The son of Court Cave hasn't been seen since being pulled up in the Ultima in March, but he has gone well when fresh previously and this would appear to have been the target. Empire Steel made a satisfactory reappearance at Kelso in October and he looks likely to give the selection most to think about, while recent Carlisle scorer Houston Texas heads the remainder.
EMPIRE STEEL shaped as if as good as ever when third at Kelso on his return and can make amends for his luckless defeat in this 2 years ago. Into Overdrive had excuses in the Ultima at Cheltenham on his final start and was highly progressive prior to that, so rates a serious threat.
The shortlist is headed by INTO OVERDRIVE and Empire Steel, who both have Rowland Meyrick form. Karl Philippe is third choice.

1st (5) (7/2 -17%) The Four Sixes |
7/2(-17%) | (5) The Four Sixes 7/2, Found some improvement when fourth of 13 in handicap hurdle (12/1) at Listowel (20f, soft) 94 days ago. Since joined Olly Murphy and may be capable of better yet. Ex-Gordon Elliott; lightly raced 5yo who ran well last time and could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 -4%) Santos Blue |
5/4(-4%) | (1) Santos Blue 5/4, Course winner who progressed well last term, scoring 3 times. Acquitted himself well in both starts this season, latest when seventh of 15 in valuable handicap at Haydock (24.3f, good to soft, 11/1) last month and sights lowered now. Has done well since moving into handicaps; major shout, assuming soft going isn't an issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 +50%) Sam's Choice |
6/1(+50%) | (4) Sam's Choice 6/1, Won a Leopardstown handicap (20f) for Gordon Elliott this time last year and shaped as if better for run for new yard when respectable fourth of 10 at this course (19.7f, heavy) 38 days ago. Blinkers (worn for victory) now reapplied and looks an interesting contender. Didn't run badly here on stable/seasonal debut & could improve for the outing; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (15/2 -88%) Foster'sisland |
15/2(-88%) | (2) Foster'sisland 15/2, Likeable type who found a bit more improvement to land a Bangor handicap in March and shaped as if better for the run when fifth at Carlisle (20f, soft) on reappearance last month. Should be straighter now. Went close in this race last year and shaped as though he needed the run on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (7/1 +7%) Fair Frontieres |
7/1(+7%) | (3) Fair Frontieres 7/1, Three-time winner over hurdles in 2021/22 but clearly had his issues since and shaped as if amiss sent chasing after long absence at Huntingdon last month. Potentially well handicapped if return to hurdling sparks a revival. Pulled up on chase debut when back from long absence but on good mark on his early promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (22/1 -38%) Informateur |
22/1(-38%) | (6) Informateur 22/1, Fairly useful handicap chaser at best and showed he retains some ability, after lengthy absence, when fourth in handicap hurdle at this course last month. Ran badly back over the larger obstacles at Doncaster since, however. 10yo who is well handicapped on his old form but others arrive with less to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Foster'sisland was narrowly denied in this contest last year and he merits respect in his bid to go one better, but SANTOS BLUE could prove to be too strong. Dan Skelton's charge was far from disgraced in a Premier Handicap at Haydock last time, and he is expected to mount a serious challenge eased in class. Sam's Choice is most appealing of the remainder, while a return to hurdles might benefit Fair Frontieres.
Preference is for SAM'S CHOICE, who figures off a handy mark and made a solid start for Rebecca Menzies here last month. Foster'sisland and Santos Blue rate the principal dangers.
Topweight SANTOS BLUE (nap) bumped into subsequent Long Walk winner Crambo when second at Aintree and earns the selection.

1st (2) (10/3 +45%) Do Your Job |
10/3(+45%) | (2) Do Your Job 10/3, Grade 2 winning novice chaser back in 2022 but quiet time of it last season and yet to fire in a trio of starts for current stable this term. Below par of late but has dropped to too good a mark to be left out of calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 -10%) Our Jet |
11/4(-10%) | (4) Our Jet 11/4, Showed benefit of reappearance, in first-time cheekpieces, when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Kempton (20.5f, soft) 29 days ago, driven out. 5 lb rise fair and holds strong claims. Found some rhythm out in front and did it fairly comfortably at Kempton; raised 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 +33%) No Risk Des Flos |
5/1(+33%) | (1) No Risk Des Flos 5/1, Ran no sort of race at Cheltenham on return last month but both last season's victories came here and he is only 1 lb above his last winning mark. Tongue strap on first time. Stable going well and he could easily bounce back from a quiet return; C&D winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2/1 -14%) Special Rate |
2/1(-14%) | (5) Special Rate 2/1, Going from strength to strength, returning with easy victory at Sedgefield (19.3f) last month before quickly following up over hurdles there the following week. Now 14 lb higher but likely has more to offer yet. The handicapper asks a question of him but he's on a roll after winning his last five. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/1 +0%) Jet Of Magic |
7/1(+0%) | (3) Jet Of Magic 7/1, Positive start for new yard, winning over hurdles at Uttoxeter (23f) in July and running with credit on next 2 starts. However, reportedly lost action at Market Rasen last month and has bit to prove back over the larger obstacles here. Below par in last two hurdle races and wasn't at his best on his only chase start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Special Rate has proved a thoroughly likeable type after completing a five-timer over hurdles at Sedgefield in mid-November and he cannot be ruled out in his current mood. However, the six-year-old is now 14lb higher in the ratings and fellow last-time-out winner OUR JET edges the vote. Dan Skelton's charge races off only 5lb more and he looks the better-treated of the pair. Cornerstone Lad may fare best of the remainder.
OUR JET doubled his tally over fences in a similar contest at Kempton last month and remains feasibly treated. He can follow up. The improving Special Rate is feared most.
Dan Skelton's OUR JET got into a nice rhythm when making all at Kempton and he might repeat the dose.

1st (5) (11/2 -120%) Royal Rhythm |
11/2(-120%) | (5) Royal Rhythm 11/2, Dual hurdles winner in Ireland and, after 6 months off, made a successful debut for Jonjo O'Neill at Carlisle (17.2f) in October. Not in the same form at Warwick next time, but it remains early days for his current yard so no surprise to see him bounce back. Won debut for this yard (off just 4lb lower) and doubt he gave his running at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +0%) Coup De Coeur |
10/3(+0%) | (4) Coup De Coeur 10/3, Fairly useful over hurdles/fences in France and stepped up on his seasonal/stable debut when third in maiden hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f) in November. Off the mark at the same C&D 19 days later, so he's a major player having his first start in a British handicap. Sedgefield novice winner who doesn't look overburdened for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/2 +0%) Beat Box |
11/2(+0%) | (7) Beat Box 11/2, After 8 months off, returned to his best when runner-up in handicap hurdle at Hexham in November. Task is now to build on his latest effort, though he was successful on his second run back last season. Has improved on his seasonal debut in the past, so it was a respectable return at Hexham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/1 +50%) Transatlantic |
5/1(+50%) | (2) Transatlantic 5/1, Dual Flat winner in France and off the mark over hurdles in Huntingdon novice on final outing for Gary Moore in April last year. Having had a wind op, left his seasonal/stable debut effort behind when third at Bangor 24 days ago and he could still have more to offer. Ran better at Bangor but he was still well beaten and he didn't jump too well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (5/1 +0%) V Twelve |
5/1(+0%) | (8) V Twelve 5/1, Fairly useful 10f winner on the Flat for Ed Walker and, making his handicap hurdle debut, ran his best race in this sphere when runner-up at Carlisle (17.2f) in November. Could do better again as he makes only his fifth start over timber. Came from off the pace to take second on handicap hurdle debut at Carlisle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 +17%) Rock Hurley |
10/1(+17%) | (1) Rock Hurley 10/1, Won pair of 4-y-o hurdles in France but has been well below that level in a trio of starts for current connections, finishing down the field after 6 months off (had a wind op) in handicap at Ayr in November. Has a bit to prove at present. Yet to shine for this yard but down 12lb as a result and likely to come good again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (6/1 +8%) Beaumesnil |
6/1(+8%) | (9) Beaumesnil 6/1, Has shown encouragement sent hurdling this season, only narrowly denied in Hexham novice (16.2f) on his second outing. After 5 months off, possibly unsuited by testing conditions at the same course (20.1f) 13 days ago, so he remains with potential back down in trip. Beaten about 6l and 12l in his two handicaps since fitted with cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (66/1 -65%) Eskendash |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Eskendash 66/1, Ended a long losing run in handicap hurdle at Catterick on his stable debut in March last year. Hasn't been in the same form over hurdles/fences since, though, offering little after 12 months off at Sedgefield in October. Best watched back hurdling. Has never been the easiest to win with and has a lot to prove right now. |

|F| (3) (25/1 -108%) Bix Beiderbecke |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Bix Beiderbecke 25/1, Fair form in bumpers and opened his account at the second time of asking over hurdles in a Perth novice in May. However, ran poorly on his return in handicap at Musselburgh last month, so he needs to get back on the up with hood now applied. Maiden winner; quiet on handicap debut but the hood could help matters. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
COUP DE COEUR opened his account with a comfortable success at Sedgefield in late-November and his current rating of 108 may underestimate his ability. Although Royal Rhythm was somewhat disappointing when only fifth at Warwick last month, it's too soon to be writing the seven-year-old off and he should prove more competitive on this occasion. V Twelve and Beat Box are unlikely to be far away either.
COUP DE COEUR has been heading back in the right direction on his last 2 starts, opening his account at Sedgefield on his latest outing, so he is taken to follow up on his first run in a British handicap. The main danger could be Royal Rhythm, who is worth another chance to build on his stable debut success in October, with Beaumesnil completing the shortlist.
It could be that French winner ROCK HURLEY has taken some time to acclimatise in Britain and he's been dropped sharply in the weights.
Ths is the racecard key.
