The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
I Got Soul looks an interesting newcomer as a daughter of Havana Grey and could go well if her inexperience doesn't let her down, but UNSPOKEN LOVE is preferred. She caught the eye when third at Thirsk on her debut despite running green and looks all set for a big run now. Eartha was ahead of her in second that day and is an obvious danger, but the selection might be open to greater improvement and can reverse the form.
EARTHA's debut second at Thirsk a fortnight ago was a promising start and she can put that experience to good use. Unspoken Love was just behind the selection in that race and there shouldn't be much in it again, with Camden Flyer perhaps the pick of the newcomers.
If taking a more direct route this time then MISS HATHAWAY may reverse Thirsk placings with Eartha and Unspoken Love.

(8) (8/1 +20%)8/1(+20%) | (8) Lockdown Lass 8/1, Too free and raced wide when below form fifth of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (8f, heavy) 55 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Likely to run closer to form this time. Doesn't want drying ground and looks weighted near best off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gentle Ellen |
(2) (11/2 +31%)11/2(+31%) | (2) Gentle Ellen 11/2, Twelfth of 13 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good, 7/1) 28 days ago. Ended 2023 on the up and almost certainly needed that reappearance. Much better expected here. Consistent from June onwards last term, winning twice at 6f; form dipped on reappearance. |

2nd (4) (12/1 +57%) Biplane |
12/1(+57%) | (4) Biplane 12/1, Successful twice around this time last year but little to shout about since, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to soft) 38 days ago. Now below last winning mark, at least. Will appreciate quicker ground than last time (soft) but still has a bit to prove now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (3/1 +57%) Inanna |
3/1(+57%) | (5) Inanna 3/1, Twenty runs since sole win in 2022. Creditable second of 13 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good, 22/1) 28 days ago. Hasn't been with this yard long. Entitled to be winning races off this mark and Beverley last time was more like it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (28/1 -180%) Girl From Italy |
28/1(-180%) | (6) Girl From Italy 28/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in November. Seventh of 8 in handicap (5/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f). Off 98 days and back down in trip returned to turf. Dual Tapeta winner but ran a laboured race back at Wolverhampton three months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (17/2 +6%) Lady Ava |
17/2(+6%) | (9) Lady Ava 17/2, Low-key return to action when eighth of 10 in handicap at Haydock (8f, soft) 10 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Conditions were no excuse when pretty much tailed off at Haydock ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (25/1 -14%) Oscar's Sister |
25/1(-14%) | (3) Oscar's Sister 25/1, Had a breathing operation bur was still readily brushed aside when last of 9 in handicap at Haydock (7.2f, good). Off 9 months. Form figures of 8789 since sole success don't paint a pretty picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/4 +17%) Night Of Desire |
11/4(+17%) | (7) Night Of Desire 11/4, Didn't need to improve on debut run to win 6-runner maiden at Chelmsford City (7f). Off 100 days. Makes handicap/turf debut and open to plenty of progress. Chelmsford winning form is not strong but she enters handicaps unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (6/1 +50%) Agnes Grey |
6/1(+50%) | (1) Agnes Grey 6/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good to firm, 16/1) 24 days ago. Eases in class and dangerous if stepping up on that. Second at Chester in September; a long way beneath that level of form in subsequent runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (13/2 +46%) Key Look |
13/2(+46%) | (12) Key Look 13/2, Bit more like it when third of 14 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good, 14/1) 21 days ago, nearest finish. Stepping back in the right direction and has a basement mark to work with. Six-time winner who ran better than of late when third of 14 at Catterick (7f) last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Key Look has to be considered with five wins over this trip, four of those off this mark or higher, following a return to form when third at Catterick last month. Lockdown Lass is capable at this level, but NIGHT OF DESIRE is hard to get away from. An easy maiden winner at Chelmsford in February, she makes her handicap debut off a mark of 68 which may underestimate her ability.
GENTLE ELLEN ended her 4-y-o campaign on the up so is taken to leave behind a low-key reappearance and get back on track. Night of Desire is totally unexposed so has to command respect, with Key Look of interest at the foot of the weights.
A few of these have something to prove and they include EMINENT JEWEL, although she did have excuses for her handicap debut defeat.

1st (4) (8/11 +82%) Glistening Nights |
8/11(+82%) | (4) Glistening Nights 8/11, Good third of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good to soft, 10/1) 10 days ago. Expected to be bang there off the same mark. Placed in four of five outings; showing signs that an ordinary race may come his way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/1(+0%) | (1) Mariner 11/1, 16/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 82 days ago. Up in trip and not discounted. Possibilities off reduced mark provided he's suited by this new trip returned to turf. |

13/2(-30%) | (6) Mon Etoile 13/2, 13/2, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good) 17 days ago. One for the shortlist. Eight-race maiden who stayed on for third over 1m1f at Hamilton most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -50%) Love Yours |
12/1(-50%) | (5) Love Yours 12/1, Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (7.8f, good to firm, 11/1) 14 days ago, caught further back than ideal. Up in trip. Ought to be in the shake-up. 12-race maiden whose latest effort suggests she's worth a crack at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (14/1 +13%) Jez Bomb |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Jez Bomb 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, only sixth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (7.8f, good to firm) 14 days ago, slowly away. Up in trip with more needed. May be capable of improvement over this new trip on second handicap attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 -127%) Likleman |
25/1(-127%) | (8) Likleman 25/1, Respectable fifth of 15 in handicap (14/1) at Doncaster (8f, firm) 16 days ago, slowly away. Up in trip. Hood on 1st time. Can make presence felt. Now 0-12 but may benefit from this new trip; similar profile to Love Yours. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/1(+0%) | (3) Carping Caitlin 10/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in maiden at Newcastle (8f, 50/1) 48 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut with more required. Opening mark is very attractive judged on her clear best effort; interesting contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
It may pay to side with the relatively unexposed STRIVE, who is stepping up in trip in a first-time hood after making all at Newcastle in February. Hayley Turner keeps the ride and may be able to steer the gelding home in front once more, with Mon Etoile and Glistening Nights perhaps his biggest dangers after their recent placed efforts.
GLISTENING NIGHTS can race off the same mark as when a good recent Pontefract third so looks the way to go in this tight-knit handicap. In-form pair Likleman and Mon Etoile rates the chief dangers to Richard Fahey's 3-y-o and can chase home the selection in that order.
Handicap newcomers CARPING CAITLIN and Strive are the two suggestions against the field.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (9) (6/5 +40%) Yazaman |
6/5(+40%) | (9) Yazaman 6/5, Temperamental sort but thriving since fitted with blinkers and on a hat-trick after recent 5f wins at Nottingham and Beverley (apprentice event). Escapes a penalty for latest victory so he's a big player. Bids for a hat-trick with no penalty for latest apprentice race win at Beverley. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (33/1 -230%) Rogue De Vega |
33/1(-230%) | (2) Rogue De Vega 33/1, Sixth of 7 in handicap (14/1) at Southwell (5f) 75 days ago. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. Mixed record on AW for new yard this year but now on a reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 -13%) Warminster |
9/2(-13%) | (3) Warminster 9/2, Won 10-runner handicap at Ayr (6f, good to firm, 11/1) 12 days ago. Holds good form claims. Career-low mark when winning at Ayr (6f); up just 2lb and looks quick enough for this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 -40%) Laura's Breeze |
28/1(-40%) | (1) Laura's Breeze 28/1, Latest win at Southwell in March. 25/1, last of 6 in handicap at Catterick (6f, soft) 11 days ago. Dual winner but offered little of late and this is the shortest trip she's tackled. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6/1 +40%) Elzaal |
6/1(+40%) | (7) Elzaal 6/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. 16/1, below form eighth of 18 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 16 days ago. All wins at 5f, most of them on the AW; it was a rare outing over 6f at Thirsk last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (7/1 +30%) Hardy Angel |
7/1(+30%) | (8) Hardy Angel 7/1, 16/1, fourteenth of 18 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Others appeal more. Dual winner but needs to take a step forward from his first two runs this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (12/1 +14%) One Of Our Own |
12/1(+14%) | (4) One Of Our Own 12/1, Eighth of 12 in handicap (9/1) at Newcastle (6f). Off 7 months. Needs a couple of these to falter. Final AW run was well below par but should appreciate returning to turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (50/1 -257%) Araifjan |
50/1(-257%) | (6) Araifjan 50/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 15/2) 21 days ago. Others more persuasive. Very up and down in the last 12 months and he's not the percentage call. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
YAZAMAN had been waiting a long time to add to his debut success when winning at Nottingham last month and Paul Midgley's charge proved it was no flash in the pan when following up at Beverley just five days ago. The six-year-old escapes a penalty for that apprentice handicap triumph and this looks an excellent chance to complete the hat-trick. Warminster was on target at Ayr last time out and he is the main danger, while Granny B appeals most of the remainder.
YAZAMAN hasn't looked back since the blinkers went on and this formerly unreliable type is fancied to bag a quick hat-trick. Warminster is next on the list on the back of his Ayr victory, with Granny B and Rogue de Vega also in the picture.
Having overcome a troubled passage last week at Beverley and with no penalty to carry, YAZAMAN (nap) stands out.

9/2(+44%) | (11) Loughville 9/2, Winner at Bath in April. Good third of 7 in handicap at Windsor (10f, good to firm, 5/2) 21 days ago, running on. Ought to be in the shake-up. Bang there in last two races over 1m2f and off the same mark as last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 +9%) Dora Milaje |
10/1(+9%) | (2) Dora Milaje 10/1, Lightly-raced winner. Off 10 months before fifth of 6 in handicap at Pontefract (8f, soft, 5/1) 33 days ago. Up in trip with more needed. Engaged 5.40 Hamilton Sunday. Progressive form at 1m until last time; has the form to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (10/1 -82%) Tango Man |
10/1(-82%) | (10) Tango Man 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seemed unsuited by soft ground when last of 5 in handicap at Haydock (8f) 10 months ago on his final run for Paul & Oliver Cole. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Likely to improve for new handler after wind surgery. Interesting. 4yo who has only raced four times; new yard, gelded and had a wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (25/1 -25%) Bushfire |
25/1(-25%) | (16) Bushfire 25/1, 17/2, eighth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, soft) 33 days ago. Tough to assess at present. Two-time scorer in 2023 but poor the last twice when testing ground was no excuse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (15) (22/1 -83%) Highwaygrey |
22/1(-83%) | (15) Highwaygrey 22/1, Latest win at Newcastle in November. Fourth of 7 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good, 10/1) 12 days ago, not ideally placed. Can give a good account. Multiple winner; might be fitter after two runs and this is his distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (33/1 -32%) Eeetee |
33/1(-32%) | (3) Eeetee 33/1, 17/2, below form eighth of 13 to Anjo Bonita in handicap at York (10.2f, good). Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving David O'Meara with work to do. Off last winning mark but hard to know what to expect after time out; changed hands. |

8th (1) (40/1 -100%) Desert Emperor |
40/1(-100%) | (1) Desert Emperor 40/1, 13/2, good second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 19 months ago on his final run for Ivan Furtado. Weighted to go well if fully tuned up for his comeback. Three 1m4f AW wins; debut for this yard has been a while coming after making 25,000gns. |

16/1(+52%) | (8) Anjo Bonita 16/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap (11/1) at Newcastle (10.2f) 22 days ago. Must improve. Did well last season for this yard; forgiven reappearance as that was her AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (5/2 +69%) Clear Angel |
5/2(+69%) | (7) Clear Angel 5/2, Course winner. 9/2, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, good) 23 days ago, meeting some trouble. Enters calculations. Would prefer softer ground but has returned from a break in fine form, including on good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (33/1 -65%) Typical Woman |
33/1(-65%) | (14) Typical Woman 33/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f, 9/2), finding little. Off 158 days but looks competitive on form if back on her A-game. Looks vulnerable at 1m2f, as was the case last time at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (125/1 -400%) Very Excellent |
125/1(-400%) | (13) Very Excellent 125/1, 25/1, fifth of 6 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) 83 days ago. Fair on the Flat though so no forlorn hope. Current wellbeing questionable and vulnerable to improvers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (12) (150/1 -355%) Abbey Gardens |
150/1(-355%) | (12) Abbey Gardens 150/1, Lightly-raced winner. First run since leaving Simon & Ed Crisford when last of 10 in handicap (25/1) at Newcastle (10.2f) 22 days ago. Makes turf debut. Has work to do. Won a novice but sunk without trace on stable/handicap debut at Newcastle (1m2f). |

15th (6) (11/2 -22%) Wintercrack |
11/2(-22%) | (6) Wintercrack 11/2, 1 win from 2 runs this year. Latest win at Pontefract in April. 7/2, respectable second of 8 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, heavy) 46 days ago, missing break. Needs considering. Latest second has been well franked; respected despite preference for softer ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (5) (10/1 +17%) Roxanne |
10/1(+17%) | (5) Roxanne 10/1, Last of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (11.9f, soft, 3/1) 37 days ago. Merits consideration if shrugging off latest effort. Take latest blip out of her profile and she has a lot going for her. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Wintercrack was far from disgraced when finishing second to a progressive sort at Ripon in April and, though respected off an unchanged mark, a chance can be taken on ROXANNE. Too keen to do herself justice over 1m4f at Doncaster last time, having made an extremely promising stable bow at Chelmsford, a drop in trip could suit Ed Dunlop's filly. The daughter of Soldier Hollow might be more at home on better ground, while Loughville is also noted.
A case can be made for a few of these so it is worth siding with the unexposed TANGO MAN to take a big step forward on his debut for George Boughey after breathing surgery and gain a breakthrough victory. Highwaygrey didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fourth at Ayr last time and is next on the list ahead of the handily-weighted duo Typical Woman and Clear Angel. Loughville completes the shortlist.
There are any number of reasons why TANGO MAN might take a huge leap forward on his first run for George Boughey.

11/2(-10%) | (5) Sergeant Mayer 11/2, Didn't enjoy the best of runs when fifth of 14 in handicap (13/2) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Merits consideration off 1 lb lower mark. Got unbalanced before staying on to some effect in a 6f handicap at Ripon. |

16/1(+20%) | (7) Stoneacre Girl 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/2, below form sixth of 10 in nursery at Newcastle (5f). Off 7 months with work to do. 0-5 and she's the only one in this field lacking a recent run. |

9th (1) (12/1 -33%) Ninety Nine |
12/1(-33%) | (1) Ninety Nine 12/1, 7/1, respectable second of 9 in seller at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 20 days ago, no match for winner. First run for yard after leaving Grant Tuer and not discounted. Claimed out of a seller; this mark not impossible if holding her form. |

10th (2) (33/1 -106%) Desert Master |
33/1(-106%) | (2) Desert Master 33/1, Winner at Newcastle in February. 22/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Catterick (5f, good) 21 days ago so needs to bounce back. AW winner who is as good on turf but hard to trust after his last two efforts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The form of SMOOTH SILESIE's recent Nottingham success received a timely boost when the runner-up struck at Catterick on Friday. A subsequent 6lb rise might not be enough to prevent Lisa Williamson's filly from completing a double and she is preferred to Pinpoint. Sergeant Mayer continues to perform with credit and must enter calculations as he goes in search a first career success. Batal Dandy is no back number either.
PINPOINT is fancied to quickly regain the winning thread having been an unlucky third at Redcar last time out when stumbling at the start. Nottingham scorer Smooth Silesie looks the one to give him most to do, although Sergeant Mayer can also have a big say on the back of his eye-catching Ripon fifth. Batal Dandy is another who commands plenty of respect if the fitting of cheekpieces ekes out some improvement.
A lot of these either ran poorly last time or have questions to answer at the trip. Neither concern applies to PINPOINT.
Ths is the racecard key.
