![]() Treasured Company |
(6) 4/1(+33%) | (6) Treasured Company 4/1, Successful at Cartmel last summer and back on track when third of 10 in the C&D handicap won by Mister Smarty on Boxing Day. Shade disappointing at Market Rasen and Newcastle since (again behind Mister Smarty and also V Twelve in latter race) but will be a threat if he puts his best foot forward. Only sixth the last twice but good third over C&D previously and not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) ![]() Bodygroove |
25/1(-150%) | (4) Bodygroove 25/1, Flat winner who made a positive start to hurdles career when touched off in a 17f Carlisle maiden last February. Poor efforts both starts since in this sphere but should come on for his reappearance spin at Sedgefield last month and mark for this handicap hurdle debut looks fair. A return to form is needed but he's not discounted in his first handicap hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() V Twelve |
11/4(+0%) | (1) V Twelve 11/4, Just 1 lb higher compared to when winning this under William Maggs last year and appears to have been prepped for a repeat bid, putting in a good shift back from a break when third of 11 at Newcastle (the same race he contested immediately prior to his 2024 success in this race). Rock-solid claims. C&D winner who returned from break with fair third at Newcastle; could build on that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Mister Smarty |
13/8(+35%) | (5) Mister Smarty 13/8, Improved when making a winning reappearance at Newcastle in December and duly followed up over this C&D on Boxing Day. Held form well since (placed in trio of handicaps at up to 20.3f, all at Newcastle) and no reason to think he won't be on the premises once again. Has continued in good form since completing double with C&D win in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Genies Girl |
28/1(-40%) | (7) Genies Girl 28/1, Some promise in bumpers but little to get excited about in trio of maiden/novice hurdles at up to 19.7f here and big step forward needed now pitched into a handicap. Hasn't shown much but goes handicapping off basement mark; one to watch in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Kingoftheswingerz |
9/2(-35%) | (3) Kingoftheswingerz 9/2, Good effort when runner-up on return at Ffos Las in November and, though not in the same form next time, he subsequently improved with a breakthrough success in first-time cheekpieces at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft). 3 lb nudge fair enough and the return to a more galloping track is a plus. Off the mark at ninth attempt when wearing first-time cheekpieces at Huntingdon last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Serious Ego |
25/1(-39%) | (2) Serious Ego 25/1, Three-time winner last term but needs to get back on track having performed with little distinction in 2 appearances since returning from a break in October. Won at Hexham last April but this 12yo was well beaten on his last two runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Placed on all three three starts since scoring over C&D in December off 8lb lower, MISTER SMARTY has been a model of consistency this season and this appeals as an ideal opportunity to regain the winning thread. A determined winner at Huntingdon last time out for which he has been raised 3lb, Kingoftheswingerz can have a say, while V Twelve is respected after finishing a decent third at Newcastle last month.
V TWELVE is taken to repeat his 2024 victory in this on the back of an encouraging effort at Newcastle where he finished around 7 lengths adrift of second-placed Mister Smarty but now meets that rival on 4 lb better terms and, moreover, he'll be sharper with that run under his belt (he was returning from a four-month break that day). To his credit, Mister Smarty is proving consistent and should give another good account, while Kingoftheswingerz could also have a part to play.
C&D winner MISTER SMARTY arrives in good form and earns the vote ahead of Kingoftheswingerz, who got off the mark last time.

![]() Bois Guillbert |
(1) 9/4(-64%) | (1) Bois Guillbert 9/4, This three-time hurdles winner lost his way over the smaller obstacles during the winter but the switch to fences paid immediate dividends at Newcastle where he landed a small-field 16.3f handicap chase in good style. Major claims with this 7 lb higher mark unlikely to prove beyond his reach. Won over chase debut at Newcastle and could have more to offer over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) ![]() Do Your Job |
10/1(-25%) | (4) Do Your Job 10/1, Veteran chaser who made final start for Lucinda Russell a winning one over this C&D on Boxing Day 2023. Hasn't managed to get his head in front since but he's nevertheless dangerous to discount having slipped to a dangerous mark. Continues to tumble down weights but this 11yo is hard to fancy on this season's evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Geryville |
9/1(-80%) | (2) Geryville 9/1, Notched fourth success over fences (and second over this C&D) when accounting for 7 rivals on penultimate start in January. Never looked like repeating that at Carlisle but this mark wouldn't be beyond him if he were to produce something akin to his best. Always behind at Carlisle last month but won over this C&D in January; could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Micks Jet |
7/4(+42%) | (3) Micks Jet 7/4, Bumper/hurdles winner who responded very well to first-time cheekpieces when opening chase account on heavy going over C&D in January. Placed in a couple of 3m handicaps since and will be a threat now back down in trip, provided that the drying ground doesn't count against her. Easy win over C&D in January and has continued in good heart over 3m since; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() William Cody |
10/3(+44%) | (5) William Cody 10/3, Took advantage of a drop back in grade when successful at Huntingdon in November. Not at his best next 2 starts but took a step back in the right direction following an 8-week break when third of 9 at Southwell (20.4f, soft) last month and he's in with a shout with cheekpieces refitted. Inconsistent but fair third at Southwell latest and could be thereabouts if he's on song. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An impressive winner on his chase debut at Newcastle last month, BOIS GUILLBERT is likely to have plenty more improvement to come and he can follow up off a 7lb higher mark. Geryville was never travelling when well beaten over further at Carlisle last month, but he would have claims if bouncing back to the form of his success over this C&D on his penultimate outing. Micks Jet is another C&D winner who is likely to be suited by dropping back in trip.
BOIS GUILLBERT produced a pretty assured round of jumping on his chase debut at Newcastle and looks capable of defying a 7 lb higher mark. Cases can be made for all four of his rivals, though on recent evidence it's likely that Micks Jet and William Cody will emerge as the main dangers.
Topweight BOIS GUILLBERT created a good impression on his chase debut at Newcastle last month and can make it 2-2 over fences.

![]() Glen Affric |
(5) 300/1(-100%) | (5) Glen Affric 300/1, No promise in bumper/maiden hurdle. Triple-figure odds for both starts, when tailed off/pulled up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) ![]() Audacious Annie |
6/4(+25%) | (2) Audacious Annie 6/4, Fair bumper winner who shaped better than the distance beaten suggests sent hurdling when 26 lengths second of 7 in a mares maiden at Ffos Las (15.8f) in December, bad mistake 3 out. Ran better when third at Ayr subsequently and bred to be suited by this step up in trip. Good claims. Third over 2m at Ayr; form has worked out well and pedigree suggests this trip will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Realta Liath |
7/2(+30%) | (9) Realta Liath 7/2, Placed in bumpers and made a positive start to her hurdle career when third of 13 in a novice at Wincanton in December. Not in the same form when fourth at Warwick next time and finished weakly on handicap debut at Market Rasen latest. Obvious player on form but needs to see her race out better. Point winner and bumper runner-up; hasn't progressed but each-way shout back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) ![]() Rose's Dart |
20/1(0%) | (12) Rose's Dart 20/1, Runner-up on Doncaster bumper debut (good ground) before finishing down the field in listed company at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Shaped as if in need of the experience on hurdling debut here last month and now steps up in trip. Bumper runner-up who is one to consider now up in trip on her second hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Parisian Fashion |
4/1(+50%) | (8) Parisian Fashion 4/1, Successful Irish pointer who ran to a similar level as on Rules debut when third of 10 in maiden hurdle (9/2) at this C&D (soft) on Boxing Day. Remains with potential. Point winner who was a fair 3rd over C&D on her second hurdle start; could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Just Her Type |
14/1(+58%) | (7) Just Her Type 14/1, Runner-up sole start in points in May and produced a promising first effort under Rules when narrowly denied at Ayr (20.4f) in January. However, went backwards when pulled up at Lingfield last time. Runner-up in point/novice hurdle; pulled up latest but on heavy ground; each-way possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Star Of Hoiho |
28/1(-180%) | (10) Star Of Hoiho 28/1, Picked up for £40,000 after winning her second start in Irish points but was tailed off on Ludlow hurdling debut in October 2023. Point winner; market check advised after an absence, but pulled up on sole hurdle run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Ciakat |
25/1(-14%) | (3) Ciakat 25/1, €17,000 3-y-o, £7,000 6-y-o, Mount Nelson mare. Dam unraced half-sister to (2m-2¼m winner over hurdles/fences in Italy) Auronzo out of Italian jumps winner Fedian. Maiden Irish pointer, last of 3 finishers last time (Mar 2024). Showed ability in points; subsequently bought for £7,000; good yard for rules career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Annacassar |
50/1(-257%) | (1) Annacassar 50/1, Flemensfirth mare. Half-sister to bumper winner Times Are Blue. Dam, point winner, half-sister to fairly useful chaser (stayed 31f) Rocky Bender. In frame 3 of 4 starts in Irish points, fourth on latest (Dec 2024). Twice runner-up in Irish points; makes rules debut with stable's horses running well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) ![]() Forcetoreckonwith |
14/1(-180%) | (4) Forcetoreckonwith 14/1, £30,000 5-y-o, Workforce mare. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 25f) Shining Gale. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Oct 2024) and she starts out over hurdles at a ordinary level. Has to be considered. Promising in points and bought for £30,000; interesting rules newcomer for good yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) ![]() Isabel De Clare |
11/1(+67%) | (6) Isabel De Clare 11/1, Just modest form to date over hurdles, including when fifth of 10 in C&D handicap (heavy) 20 days ago. Needs more. Has shown some ability in maiden hurdles, including over C&D, but looks vulnerable today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) ![]() Waltzing Matilda |
150/1(-355%) | (11) Waltzing Matilda 150/1, £16,000 3-y-o, Walzertakt mare. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart hurdler (stayed 25f) Medinas. Well held both completed starts in Irish points (latest Feb 8). Rules debut; has shown ability in points but not enough to suggest she'll be winning this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A half-sister to useful stablemate You Wear It Well, AUDACIOUS ANNIE may not have shown much in two starts over hurdles, but stepping up in trip looks like a good move for the six-year-old. She won here on her bumper debut in November 2023 and she may have too much for Parisian Fashion, who improved from his first to second start when third over C&D last time out. Ciakat and Realta Liath can also enter calculations.
Bumper winner AUDACIOUS ANNIE stepped up on her hurdling debut form when third at Ayr in late January and, with that form working out well (winner went close in Grade 2 next time), she's fancied to make it third time lucky over hurdles, especially with the step up in trip promising to suit. Forcetoreckonwith landed an Irish point back in October and has to be of interest starting out over hurdles at an ordinary level, with Parisian Fashion and Realta Liath others to consider.
Course bumper winner AUDACIOUS ANNIE was a promising third in a warm maiden hurdle at Ayr in January and earns the vote.

1st (5) ![]() Kelce |
13/8(+46%) | (5) Kelce 13/8, Much improved switched to fences with cheekpieces applied, easily getting off the mark in a 3m handicap at Market Rasen (soft) in December. Looked booked for second when falling last at same course on Boxing Day and shaped as if still in good form when second at Ludlow last time. Much respected. Front-runner who is enjoying a progressive first chasing campaign; can make a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() De Tellers Fortune |
10/11(+55%) | (4) De Tellers Fortune 10/11, Winning Irish pointer who made it third time lucky over hurdles in a Ffos Las maiden (20f) in May. Returned from 7 months off with a much-improved effort to follow up on handicap/chase debut at Taunton in December and underfoot conditions possibly against him when pulled up at Wincanton latest. Pulled up latest but on soft going; retains potential judged on previous good-ground form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Lunar Discovery |
9/2(+18%) | (2) Lunar Discovery 9/2, Dual bumper winner who also won a pair of novice hurdles last season. Has shown similar form over fences, finishing runner-up in small-field events at Ayr and Carlisle (20f) in recent weeks, and is worth a try at this longer trip. Runner-up over 2m4f on first two chase starts and the return to 3m could be a good move. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
FELICIE DU MAQUIS built on her sixth-placed reappearance at Chepstow in early February when landing the spoils over hurdles at Ludlow later that month. A 4lb higher mark now back over fences could prove to be lenient for the lightly-raced veteran and a brace may be on the cards. Although Grand Albert's jumping was exposed by subsequent Cheltenham Festival hero Myretown when finishing third at Kelso 32 days ago, he's feared most, ahead of Kelce.
Quite a trappy-looking affair. KELCE has a progressive profile and did well under the circumstances when second at Ludlow on his most recent outing, having been badly hampered by loose horse, so he's an appealing candidate. Felicie du Maquis reverts to chasing following a recent win over hurdles and should be capable of better.
The lightly raced 6yo DE TELLERS FORTUNE can regain the winning thread for Nicky Henderson now back on better ground.

![]() Paddy O'mahler |
(1) 7/1(-8%) | (1) Paddy O'mahler 7/1, Finished fifth of 16 in a decent handicap for the grade over this C&D in December and posted an improved effort when striking back at this course the following month. By no means disgraced when fourth of 12 off this 7 lb higher mark at Kelso last time and he's a live each-way candidate. Off the mark at 17th attempt over C&D in January; fair fourth since; could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) ![]() Jukebox Fury |
11/8(+45%) | (2) Jukebox Fury 11/8, Offered little on return/handicap bow at Kempton in December but left that well behind when off the mark upped to 3m at Doncaster last month, proving ½-length too strong for subsequent scorer Skin Full. 5 lb rise fair enough and he could have more to offer for his top yard as a stayer. Won at Doncaster and this lightly raced 6yo could take a 5lb rise in his stride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Aazza |
14/1(+13%) | (9) Aazza 14/1, Dual hurdles winner for Rose Dobbin and better for return/stable debut effort equipped with cheekpieces when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh in November. Struggled back over fences at Catterick next time but now 3 lb lower returned to this sphere and she's capable of a bold show. Returned to form when third at Musselburgh but well beaten at Catterick since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Farmer Jimmy |
10/1(+0%) | (3) Farmer Jimmy 10/1, Much improved for a switch to handicaps over a longer trip when scoring over 2½m here last month. Perhaps it wouldn't be wise to judge him too harshly on his subsequent effort at Bangor (left poorly placed) and he shapes as though this trip will be within his range. Stayed on well to win over extended 2m3f here; heavy ground may have been too much since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Rickety Gate |
17/2(+29%) | (8) Rickety Gate 17/2, Took advantage of a drop in the weights when scoring on return at Kelso in October and he did well under the circumstances when fourth of 9 at Doncaster the following month. However, it was surprising to see him run so badly at Musselburgh last time given his otherwise solid record at that course. 10yo whose form has been mixed since he won at Kelso in October but he's on a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Tees Comp's Clive |
28/1(-12%) | (7) Tees Comp's Clive 28/1, Second run in handicap company resulted in a decent effort at Newcastle where he was fourth in an 11-runner contest over 2¾m. However, that is bookmarked by underwhelming displays and he needs to find improvement from somewhere. Fair fourth at Newcastle two runs ago but well beaten back there since; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Helsgetaway |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Helsgetaway 14/1, Showed ability in bumpers and promising start in this sphere, very much shaping like a stayer on the two starts he's completed, finished fifth of 10 in a Hexham maiden on penultimate start. Presumably wasn't 100% on handicap debut at Ayr and worth a second look upped in trip with cheekpieces added. Has shown ability but he was pulled up on his handicap debut at Ayr; cheekpieces go on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Skiffle Man |
5/2(+38%) | (5) Skiffle Man 5/2, Predictably left low-key novice form behind when second of 16 on handicap bow with first-time cheekpieces/tongue strap enlisted upped to 20.4f at Southwell in December. 7 lb rise tolerable given that he was 8 lengths clear of the third that day and this further step up in trip could be a good move. Went close over 2m4f on handicap debut and open to further improvement now tackling 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Jo Arengeot Bey Aa |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Jo Arengeot Bey Aa 33/1, Fetched £50,000 after winning sole start in points and Rules debut effort in a Uttoxeter bumper was fairly encouraging. However, disappointing over hurdles so far, pulled up tried in blinkers at Bangor when last seen in December (since undergone a wind op) and cheekpieces now given a whirl. Struggled in first two handicaps; transformation needed on first run since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (10) ![]() Good Bye |
8/1(+76%) | (10) Good Bye 8/1, Proved a model of consistency during 2022/23 campaign but didn't cut much ice last term and was beaten 20 lengths in the Doncaster handicap won by Jukebox Fury on his latest start. Two-time hurdle winner who is on a reduced mark, but a long time since he threatened. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The unexposed JUKEBOX FURY gained a breakthrough victory when denying a subsequent scorer at Doncaster last month. A 5lb rise in the rating may still underestimate the six-year-old's ability and this looks a good opportunity for him to double his tally. The biggest threat may emerge from last-time-out runner-up Skiffle Man, who is a potential improver now stepping up further in trip. Wearapinkribbon is also worth a second look at the foot of the weights.
As low-mileage 6-y-os from top yards, JUKEBOX FURY and Skiffle Man are naturally appealing, particularly given that they both arrive here on the back of improved efforts. The latter's handicap debut second over 20.5f at Southwell augurs well with regard to this new trip and he is not passed over lightly, but Jukebox Fury got the better of a next-time-out winner when opening his account upped to a similar trip to this at Doncaster and he is marginally preferred. Aazza makes some each-way appeal.
The step up to 3m can be the catalyst for a first win from the lightly raced 6yo SKIFFLE MAN (nap). Jukebox Fury is feared most.

![]() Gold Robber |
(2) 66/1(-100%) | (2) Gold Robber 66/1, 3,500 gns half-brother to 1m/9f winner in Saudi Arabia Single Minded. Doesn't appeal as a probable first-time-out winner on paper. 3,500gns 3yo; 2nd foal; half-brother to Saudi Arabian winner; may be best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) ![]() White Riot |
7/2(-27%) | (3) White Riot 7/2, Well beaten in a Kempton bumper for Ben Pauling last term but much better when runner-up on debut for new yard at Catterick (15.7f, good to soft) back from a 12-month absence. Needs considering. Second to useful winner at Catterick on second start and he's a key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() The Mad Poet |
10/11(+39%) | (6) The Mad Poet 10/11, £40,000 half-brother to 2 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/chaser Zalvados. Obvious appeal on paper given the yard he represents and it will look significant if he's strong in the betting. Half-brother to useful dual-purpose performer Zalvados; this newcomer is from a top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Ballynoe Boy |
11/2(-193%) | (1) Ballynoe Boy 11/2, Half-brother to fair chaser Book of Gold and modest 2¼m hurdle winner Frankie Faulkner, stays 3¼m. Positive start to his career when second in a 6-runner Catterick bumper (15.7f, good) and should make a bold bid to go one better here. 15-2 when close second at Catterick on debut and he's in good hands to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Crystal Force |
6/1(+40%) | (4) Crystal Force 6/1, Crystal Ocean gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Full Irish. Dam unraced out of fairly useful hurdler/chaser (2¼m-2½m winner) Native Endurance. Interesting to see how he shapes up in the betting. Yard had a 4yo bumper newcomer go in at 9-1 at Chepstow on Sunday; not ruled out on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() L'insurge |
25/1(-25%) | (5) L'insurge 25/1, Tunis gelding. Half-brother to fair French chaser Idylle Fleurie. Yard isn't in particularly good form at present and this 4-y-o will probably come on for a run. There's some potential in his pedigree but he may be one for further down the line. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Ballynoe Boy should have learned plenty from his debut second at Catterick in December, while White Riot displayed plenty of promise on his stable bow when runner-up at that same venue last month. However, THE MAD POET, a half-brother to useful dual-purpose performer Zalvados, possesses plenty of speed in his pedigree and the Dan Skelton-trained debutant could be worth taking a punt on.
The vote goes to BALLYNOE BOY, who showed more than enough on his debut at Catterick to suggest that there are races to be won with him. White Riot also found just one too good at Catterick starting out for this yard last month and he is feared most ahead of likely-looking newcomer The Mad Poet.
This could go to the newcomer THE MAD POET, whose top trainer Dan Skelton does very well in bumpers.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
