1st (3) (4/1 +0%) Ottoline |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Ottoline 4/1, Modest in bumpers and only poor form in 2 starts over hurdles. More required. Placed in two bumpers last year and has shown promise on first two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/9 +71%) Endless Supply |
4/9(+71%) | (2) Endless Supply 4/9, Placed on the second of 2 outings in bumpers and improved on her hurdles debut form when second in an Exeter novice (18.5f, soft) 32 days ago, not unduly punished when held late on. Likely to progress further and has obvious claims. Clear second to a useful mare at Exeter (2m2f) last month; should be hard to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (13/2 +7%) Tilly Toughnut |
13/2(+7%) | (5) Tilly Toughnut 13/2, Won a point bumper on debut back in November 2021 but ran to only a modest level on last month's Uttoxeter hurdling debut. Significantly up in trip. Safely held over 2m here on rules debut; improvement needed over this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (33/1 -136%) Bridget Mary |
33/1(-136%) | (1) Bridget Mary 33/1, £75,000 5-y-o, Sholokhov mare. Successful on her sole outing in Irish points in January and shaped as if better for the run when well held in a Ffos Las maiden hurdle on her Rules bow last month, weakening 2 out. Entitled to do better. Irish point winner; outpaced over 2m4f on hurdle debut; may fare better here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (25/1 -25%) Young At Heart |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Young At Heart 25/1, Positive start when third on debut in a Fakenham bumper (2m) on debut in April but has become increasingly temperamental since, including over hurdles. Placed in a bumper in April but began hurdling career with two underwhelming runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (50/1 -52%) The Gambler |
50/1(-52%) | (4) The Gambler 50/1, Easy winner on last of her three starts in Irish points in April and comfortably off the mark on bumper debut at Market Rasen in June. However, made mistakes when well held on last month's Ludlow hurdle bow. Significantly up in trip. Won weak, four-runner bumper on rules debut; well beaten on recent hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ENDLESS SUPPLY has shown promise in a couple of similar races and, with the step up trip a likely prompt for further improvement, she looks a key player here. Ottoline is also dangerous to rule out, given she is still of low mileage over timber and runs for an in-form yard. Of the others, point-to-point winner Tilly Toughnut is likely to step forward from what was a moderate hurdling debut here last month.
Lightly-raced ENDLESS SUPPLY looks to hold obvious claims judged on his improved second at Exeter a month ago. Tilly Toughnut is quickly upped significantly in trip and looks the one for the forecast.
This is a very good opportunity for ENDLESS SUPPLY, who was placed on her first two hurdling stars.

1st (5) (5/6 +0%) Itsnoteasy |
5/6(+0%) | (5) Itsnoteasy 5/6, £100,000 recruit from the Irish pointing field. Much better effort in maiden hurdles over this trip at Uttoxeter for new connections when narrowly denied last month. Likely capable of better again and this looks a good opening for him. Impressive Irish point winner who went close in very similar race to this here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 -82%) Gris Gris Top |
5/1(-82%) | (2) Gris Gris Top 5/1, Showed a fair level of ability in a light career for Michael Scudamore. Absent since a fall on his chase debut in January but new trainer Donald McCain won a maiden hurdle for the same owner earlier in the week and this race lacks depth. Contender. Not easy to weigh up on stable debut but has strong claims if judged on late-2021 form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 +33%) Intimate |
10/3(+33%) | (4) Intimate 10/3, Placed in a bumper in France. Well held in a bumper/maiden hurdle for this yard last season but offered more when 14 lengths second in Ffos Las novice on reappearance 33 days ago. May do better again for yard which continues in form. No match for winner when second at Fontwell last month; further progress required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (150/1 -50%) Joker De Thaix |
150/1(-50%) | (7) Joker De Thaix 150/1, Down the field in a Newbury bumper in March and pulled up in Chepstow novice hurdle on return 259 days later. Hood goes on. Outsider. Pulled up when 80-1 for recent hurdle debut at Chepstow; hood now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (100/1 -100%) Westbrook Lad |
100/1(-100%) | (10) Westbrook Lad 100/1, Too free when well held in a Worcester bumper in May. Hood goes on now hurdling on return. Best watched unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Beaten about 37l when seventh of ten in good-ground Worcester bumper in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (20/1 -25%) There's Claude |
20/1(-25%) | (9) There's Claude 20/1, £30,000 after placing in all 3 points. 300/1, never involved in Ascot maiden hurdle on debut for new connections but he might fare better in these calmer waters. Unable to land any sort of blow when 300-1 for last month's rules debut at Ascot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (125/1 -25%) Parliament |
125/1(-25%) | (8) Parliament 125/1, Fair winner on Flat in France in 2022 but little show over hurdles for current stable to date. Won on the Flat in France last year but well beaten on first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (50/1 -52%) Hawaii Du Mestivel |
50/1(-52%) | (3) Hawaii Du Mestivel 50/1, Third on only start in points but more one for handicaps judged on his efforts in 2 novice hurdles this winter. Travelled well in two novice hurdles this autumn but ultimately well beaten in both. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (250/1 -67%) Johnthepostman |
250/1(-67%) | (6) Johnthepostman 250/1, Has looked very limited so far and needs to be transformed by first-time blinkers. Beaten out of sight at huge odds on both hurdling starts; blinkers now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (7/1 -40%) Chindit Warrior |
7/1(-40%) | (1) Chindit Warrior 7/1, Well held in a hurdle at Fontainebleau on his debut in October 2021. Not seen since but he has joined the top yard in the country so a betting check is definitely needed. Not seen since low-key debut in France in 2021 but represents a top stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
On the back of a near-miss C&D last month, ITSNOTEASY could be hard to beat if he continues to flourish in the same manner shown since he switched to racing under Rules. Both trip and ground look ideal and another bold effort is expected from the Olly Murphy-trained gelding, especially with Sean Bowen retaining the ride. Intimate is notable on just his second start after wind surgery, while Chindit Warrior is respected on his debut for the Paul Nicholls yard.
This looks like a decent opportunity for ITSNOTEASY to gain compensation for his Uttoxeter near miss. Gris Gris Top is feared most now setting out for new trainer Donald McCain. Chindit Warrior has been off for over 2 years since finishing well held on his debut in France but returns for the Paul Nicholls stable so needs monitoring in the betting.
The most obvious answer is ITSNOTEASY, who went down fighting when second oer C&D on soft ground last month.

1st (2) (3/1 +14%) Accidental Legend |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Accidental Legend 3/1, Won 3 on the bounce at around 2½m last winter, including over C&D, but he has offered little on his last 4 outings (tried in cheekpieces latest). On the upside, he's edged back down the weights as a result (now 1 lb below last winning mark). Won three in a row last season but seems badly to have lost his way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (15/2 -7%) Jack Sprat |
15/2(-7%) | (1) Jack Sprat 15/2, Off the mark when landing a 7-runner handicap at Huntingdon (19.6f, good to soft) with something to spare on return last month. Wasn't in the same form next time, though, and he looks vulnerable. Off the mark last month, his second handicap; a possible if handling today's ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (80/1 -220%) Crossbeau |
80/1(-220%) | (7) Crossbeau 80/1, Modest maiden on the Flat who hasn't shown much in a handful of appearances over hurdles and big step forward needed on handicap debut in this sphere. Well-beaten outsider in three maiden/novice hurdles this autumn; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (80/1 -220%) Jukebox D'eddy |
80/1(-220%) | (4) Jukebox D'eddy 80/1, Took a step forward over hurdles when going close at Wetherby on handicap debut in March but has disappointingly failed to build on that since. Needs to get back on track. Went close on handicap debut in March but not much has gone to plan lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (16/1 +52%) Twp Stori |
16/1(+52%) | (14) Twp Stori 16/1, No impact in bumper/completed starts over hurdles and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Tailed off when switched to heavy ground for last month's handicap debut at Ffos Las. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (17/2 -143%) Hugueneau |
17/2(-143%) | (3) Hugueneau 17/2, Point winner who stepped up on what he showed in 3 runs for Lawney Hill when, equipped with a first-time tongue strap (retained), finishing fourth of 10 on handicap/yard debut back from a 6-month break at Market Rasen (16.6f, soft). Eased 2 lb and promises to be suited by this stiffer test. Made a lot of ground from the rear when fourth on stable/handicap debut; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (8/1 +33%) Night Jet |
8/1(+33%) | (10) Night Jet 8/1, Out of a mare who did well for the same connections and he has shown ability, albeit without really threatening, in 7 starts over hurdles. Perhaps the fitting of cheekpieces will help spark some improvement and, if so, he wouldn't be without each-way hope. 0-7 over hurdles; may benefit from this drop back in trip but others have stronger claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (15/2 +46%) Portentoso |
15/2(+46%) | (12) Portentoso 15/2, Winner twice in this sphere and over fences in France. Posted by far his best effort on these shores when second in a big-field Chepstow handicap (19.5f, heavy) last month but it would be something of an understatement to say that he failed to back that up next time. Blinkers/tongue strap refitted. Pulled up last time but a major player if judged on earlier Chepstow second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (22/1 -175%) Double Powerful |
22/1(-175%) | (8) Double Powerful 22/1, Third sole start between the flags but there have not been many positives to glean from his efforts in maiden/novice company thus far. Another who needs to raise his game considerably now venturing down the handicap route. Didn't show much in his qualifying races but may fare better now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/3 +39%) Hi Riko |
10/3(+39%) | (6) Hi Riko 10/3, Has acquitted himself well all 3 starts since switched to handicaps, most notably when going close over C&D on heavy ground last month. Again found just one too good at Lingfield since and his turn is surely near. Made the frame in first three handicaps, including a very close second over C&D on heavy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (12/1 +40%) Akentrick |
12/1(+40%) | (11) Akentrick 12/1, On a good mark judged on his effort at Musselburgh 2 years ago when finishing runner-up off an 11 lb higher mark in a 3m handicap. However, that is a standout effort and he was pulled up in a point when last seen 12 months ago. Debut for new yard. 0-9 over hurdles; absent since pulled up in maiden point a year ago; makes stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (16/1 -129%) Midnight Soldier |
16/1(-129%) | (5) Midnight Soldier 16/1, Made a winning bumper debut in good style at Fontwell in June 2021 for Christian Williams. Encouraging second of 6 in a C&D novice on hurdles bow in May and, though safely held both starts since, he could do better now pitched into a handicap. Bumper winner; only minor promise in novice hurdles; improvement possible in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (25/1 -456%) Begoodtoyourself |
25/1(-456%) | (13) Begoodtoyourself 25/1, Very modest strike rate overall but, to his credit, he knuckled down well when opening his hurdles account at Carlisle (19.3f, good to soft) 19 days ago. The runner-up did the form no hard when hitting the crossbar again next time and this 8-y-o is a player off 3 lb higher here. Kept on well to win at Carlisle last month but today's slower ground is probably not ideal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A game winner at Carlisle 19 days ago, the lightly-weighted Begoodtoyourself enters calculations off just a 3lb higher mark, while Jack Sprat is not underestimated despite the imposition of top-weight. However, the consistent HI RIKO is nominated after posting a couple of near-misses in similar contests last month. The Richard Hobson-trained gelding has gone up another 5lb for his latest effort but still looks on a workable mark and is hard to ignore, especially with Brian Hughes now doing the steering.
Having shaped encouragingly on his first run for the Skelton yard at Market Rasen, HUGUENEAU earns the vote with this step up in trip a potentially good move. Hi Riko has been knocking on the door and should pick up a race sooner rather than later, while Begoodtoyourself, who finally got the job done at Carlisle last time, is third choice. Accidental Legend needs to bounce back but he's a C&D winner and will be a threat if able to do so off this reduced mark.
Another chance is given to PORTENTOSO, who ran a big race in defeat on heavy ground two starts ago.

1st (1) (3/1 +14%) Sure Touch |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Sure Touch 3/1, Had a productive 2022 over hurdles, winning 4 times, and he shaped well on his chase debut when second of 4 in handicap at Ludlow (20f, good) on return, just failing. Testing 3m too much for him at Market Rasen next time and worth another chance back down in trip. Four-time hurdle winner who made pretty good start to chasing career in the autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/2 -133%) Desque De L'Isle |
7/2(-133%) | (6) Desque De L'Isle 7/2, Dual scorer at Ludlow last season and back to form in style when winning veterans event at Lingfield 11 days ago, seeing out the longer trip well under this rider. Capable of holding his form and unexposed at this trip. Won when upped to 2m4f 11 days ago and escapes a penalty here; obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 +39%) Eaton Collina |
2/1(+39%) | (3) Eaton Collina 2/1, Ended last spring in fine form, winning back-to-back handicaps at Chepstow and Ascot before runner-up at Ffos Las. Possibly needed the run (also said to have lost a shoe) when pulled up on return at Wetherby, so he's worth another chance. In excellent form at end of last season but pulled up last month and remains on tough mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 -157%) Rath Gaul Hill |
9/1(-157%) | (5) Rath Gaul Hill 9/1, Narrowly denied on sole start in Irish point and went one better on hurdling debut at Ffos Las last year. Disappointed next 2 starts but got back on track making handicap debut after 9 months off at Doncaster 3 weeks ago, albeit never really looking like justifying support. Chase debut. Tongue tied. Not beaten far on recent handicap hurdle debut; open to improvement over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 +67%) Thor De Cerisy |
10/3(+67%) | (4) Thor De Cerisy 10/3, Ended losing run over hurdles at Ffos Las (15.8f) in January but just the one good effort since and has struggled over fences so far, including both starts for this yard. Didn't fire last time but is well suited by heavy ground and has become well handicapped. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Trainer Venetia Williams has won two of the last three runnings of this race and she could enhance that record courtesy of DESQUE DE L'ISLE here. An easy winner of a conditional jockeys' race at Lingfield last time out, he is unpenalised here but is due to go up 5lb for future contests and he looks well in here. Sure Touch could be his main rival on ground he has won on before and he makes his second start after wind surgery, leaving Eaton Collina to follow them home.
EATON COLLINA eventually got the hang of things over fences last season and had excuses at Wetherby on his return, so is worth another chance off what remains a decent mark. Desque de L'isle bounced back to form when winning at Lingfield on his first attempt at this trip and is the obvious threat ahead of Sure Touch.
Desque De L'Isle is respected but THOR DE CERISY (nap) has slipped to a tempting mark and is likely to handle today's ground well.

1st (6) (6/1 +50%) Barricane |
6/1(+50%) | (6) Barricane 6/1, Course winner but he comes here below form, fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (19f, heavy) 30 days ago. Cheekpieces back on with more required. 544 days off before this season and latest start gave some renewed hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +15%) Classic Maestro |
2/1(+15%) | (5) Classic Maestro 2/1, Has progressed with each of his three runs over hurdles, clear second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Newcastle (20.3f, soft) 8 days ago. Can race off the same mark so he looks the one to beat. 6lb higher in future following his neck 2nd at Newcastle (2m4f, heavy) eight days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 -45%) Bobo Mac |
4/1(-45%) | (4) Bobo Mac 4/1, Arrives in good nick, second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (23.6f, soft) 28 days ago, keeping on gamely. Not taken lightly eased 1 lb. Veteran; second at Chepstow (3m, soft) on latest outing, which puts him in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (5/1 +50%) Richardson |
5/1(+50%) | (10) Richardson 5/1, Course winner who posted a respectable third of 7 in handicap hurdle at this course (19.9f, heavy) 34 days ago. One for the shortlist despite being 2 lb "wrong" in the weights. Sole win (three years ago) was at this track and his four places were also on heavy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (20/1 -150%) Tara Cove |
20/1(-150%) | (7) Tara Cove 20/1, Winning pointer who has been brought along steadily in this sphere, fourth of 8 in novice hurdle at Bangor (16.7f, heavy) 20 days ago. Tongue strap on for his handicap debut. One to consider. 3-7 in points; lacks hurdles form but now upped in trip in a tongue-tie for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 -56%) Houston Calling |
25/1(-56%) | (8) Houston Calling 25/1, Hinted at promise but he looked rusty after 6 months off when ninth of 12 on his handicap debut at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) 25 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Should still improve. Handicap debut last time (2m5f, good to soft; 16-1) saw her heaviest defeat; headgear now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (9/1 +36%) John W Creasy |
9/1(+36%) | (2) John W Creasy 9/1, Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Exeter (16.7f, soft) 26 days ago. Significantly up in trip with more needed if he's to gain a maiden success. Brother to a 3m winner, so this new, longer trip under rules holds possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (18/1 -29%) My Girl Katie |
18/1(-29%) | (3) My Girl Katie 18/1, Yet to fire in three runs over fences, only ninth of 11 in handicap chase at Exeter (24.2f, soft) 32 days ago. Not discounted back over hurdles though. Has not sparked as a chaser; well handicapped on last season's placed efforts as a hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 -733%) Robeam |
50/1(-733%) | (9) Robeam 50/1, Unreliable type who wasn't disgraced when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Hereford (21.7f, good to firm) 66 days ago. Seventeen runs since his last win in 2022, though. 2-29 over hurdles, latest win in May 2022; has refound some form on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (12/1 +0%) Double Click |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Double Click 12/1, Resumed with win at Ffos Las but he came in last of 9 in handicap hurdle at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) 29 days ago. Goes over a longer distance with work to do. Showed little when 5-1 on soft latest; makes a big step up in trip and he is bred to stay. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A wide-open contest at first glance, but one that may well go the way of CLASSIC MAESTRO, who looks the best handicapped in this field. He remains a maiden after three starts, but was only beaten a neck at Newcastle last time out with 22 lengths back to the third and that appears the best form on offer. Due to go up 6lb for future races, his chance is there for all to see and he could get the better of Bobo Mac and Barricane, who are feared most.
A few with chances but CLASSIC MAESTRO can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent Newcastle second so is hard to oppose. Veteran Bobo Mac also figures on a handy-looking mark and rates the chief threat to Jennie Candlish's 5-y-o, with unexposed duo Houston Calling and Tara Cove not ruled out either in an intriguing handicap.
The turnaround of just eight days is the concern with unexposed youngster CLASSIC MAESTRO who otherwise makes plenty of appeal.

1st (6) (7/2 -40%) Breeze Of Wind |
7/2(-40%) | (6) Breeze Of Wind 7/2, Didn't trouble the judge in a trio of runs over hurdles for Barry Murtagh but he's a point winner and has upped his form since switched to chasing, opening his account with something in hand at Hexham 9 days ago. Solid claims under a penalty. Came good with heavy-ground win at Hexham last week; carries penalty in deeper race here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 +0%) Imperial Alex |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Imperial Alex 5/1, Found improvement in this sphere when second at Warwick (25.5f) last month and backed that up when creditable neck second of 8 to Goodoldbill in handicap chase at Newcastle a month ago. Looks the one to beat. Runner-up in two soft-ground chases last month and has pretty solid claims here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/4 +10%) Rockinastorm |
9/4(+10%) | (1) Rockinastorm 9/4, Fortunate to make a winning start to his chase career on 3m Warwick reappearance but, from an unchanged mark, went in again at Hereford 6 days ago. That form looks more solid and he's an obvious player. 2-2 over fences and escapes a penalty for his convincing Hereford success on Saturday. |

4th (10) (10/1 +17%) Dysania |
10/1(+17%) | (10) Dysania 10/1, Finally got off the mark in 5-runner handicap chase at Lingfield in November but wasn't in the same form there last time. Blinkers applied now. Rewarded determined Sean Bowen ride two starts ago but safely held since; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (14/1 -17%) Storm Tiger |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Storm Tiger 14/1, Still a maiden under Rules but he was consistent when switched to handicap chases at the start of 2023, reaching the frame on 4 of his 5 starts. Probably needed run at Sedgefield on return so should be spot on now. Third in quite valuable event on heavy ground in March and ran okay on seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (33/1 -175%) Pebbly New Moon |
33/1(-175%) | (2) Pebbly New Moon 33/1, First run since leaving Oliver Sherwood when improved fourth of 14 in handicap hurdle (16/1) at Doncaster (19.4f, soft), running on. That was almost two years ago, however, and he's joined another new stable ahead of this chasing debut. Very lightly raced 8yo; makes stable/chase debut after 710-day absence; hard to weigh up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (6/1 +40%) Kap Chidley |
6/1(+40%) | (4) Kap Chidley 6/1, Respectable fifth of 13 in handicap chase at Musselburgh (20.3f, good to soft, 5/2) 44 days ago. Not dismissed. 0-10 under all codes but was creditable second over C&D in October; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (12/1 -50%) On The Platform |
12/1(-50%) | (7) On The Platform 12/1, Largely consistent in defeat for John Groucott last term and has made a solid start for current stable, runner-up at Ludlow last month. Others look better treated. 0-13 over fences but posted two good efforts in cheekpieces for owner-trainer this autumn. |

|PU| (11) (20/1 -150%) Wide To West |
20/1(-150%) | (11) Wide To West 20/1, Placed on completed start in points and improved on hurdles form despite finishing last of 5 (beaten 8 lengths) on chase bow at Lingfield on return. Up against from out of the handicap. Not beaten far when last of five on chasing debut but effectively 1lb higher here. |

|PU| (9) (125/1 -25%) Sleve Donard |
125/1(-25%) | (9) Sleve Donard 125/1, Took seven attempts to get off the mark in points and yet to show anything under Rules, including on chasing debut at Lingfield recently. Pulled up on both hurdling starts last season and also on chasing debut 11 days ago. |

|PU| (8) (250/1 -150%) Givemylovetorose |
250/1(-150%) | (8) Givemylovetorose 250/1, First run since leaving Declan Queally when pulled up in handicap chase (100/1) at Leicester (22.7f, good to soft) on debut over fences 32 days ago, struggling before 5 out. Hard to make any sort of case for. Ex-Irish mare; pulled up when 100-1 for recent stable/chase debut; cheekpieces added today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ROCKINASTORM made it 2-2 over the larger obstacles when landing a conditional jockeys' event at Hereford on Saturday and the son of Mahler makes plenty of appeal, especially being 6lb well-in. Imperial Alex has been knocking on the door on his latest outings and is likely to be in the mix once again. Breeze Of Wind, a comfortable winner at Hexham, and On The Platform are others capable of a decent showing.
IMPERIAL ALEX shaped well on chasing debut at Warwick (strong form) and he was only beaten by one that had the run of things at Newcastle last time, so he's fancied to make the breakthrough over fences this time. Breeze of Wind is on the up is likely to emerge as a big threat, while Rockinastorm can't be dismissed.
It's rare for a horse to win three times in a row off the same mark but ROCKINASTORM may accomplish that today.

1st (2) (28/1 -100%) Present Fair |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Present Fair 28/1, Dual point winner but he came in last of 5 in handicap chase at Newcastle (20.1f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Back over hurdles with it to prove on handicap hurdle debut. 0-7 under rules but was placed in a chase in October and ought to handle today's ground. |

2nd (4) (11/1 -57%) Time To Dazzle |
11/1(-57%) | (4) Time To Dazzle 11/1, Showed ability under a considerate ride when fifth in a 2m Newbury novice in February but he went backwards in 2 subsequent runs there. In good hands though, so not written off now going into handicaps with the hood retained after 9 months off. Made encouraging debut in February; off since two heavy defeats in March; market may guide. |

3rd (1) (5/2 +29%) Damarta |
5/2(+29%) | (1) Damarta 5/2, Though carrying over his headstrong tendencies from bumpers, he still caught the eye when just failing to snatch third on hurdling debut at Uttoxeter in May. Hasn't threatened but has shaped better than the bare result in 3 starts this season, so he's of interest now in a handicap (had wind op). Caught the eye making headway from the rear in four novice/maiden hurdles; handicap debut. |

4th (12) (5/2 +25%) Smart Casual |
5/2(+25%) | (12) Smart Casual 5/2, Bumper run wasn't devoid of promise and hinted at ability in maiden/novice company last season. Stepped up on reappearance when runner-up at Fontwell (17.7f, heavy) 10 days ago (went like the best horse at the weights) and he remains with potential at this level. Went close on heavy ground recently and is reappears before 3lb rise takes effect. |

5th (10) (7/2 +50%) Sailed Away |
7/2(+50%) | (10) Sailed Away 7/2, Back with his former yard when promising second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Fakenham (16f, soft) last month, making his effort earlier than ideal. Beaten by more than lack of stamina over 3f longer trip at Taunton since but would be foolish to rule out back at 2m. Not yet proven on slow ground but has made pretty good start to handicap career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (17/2 -31%) Alright Dai |
17/2(-31%) | (7) Alright Dai 17/2, Made the frame in a trio of bumpers for Dan Skelton and, though yet to match that level of form over hurdles, he's another who may well be seen in a better light now switched to handicap company. Watch the betting. Ran well for a long way in 2m4f maiden last month; back in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (9/1 -29%) Staar |
9/1(-29%) | (11) Staar 9/1, Placed both starts in points in 2018 and having shown little in 3 starts in early-2022, proved a totally different proposition in first-time cheekpieces after 10 months off when runner-up at this C&D (heavy) on New Year's Eve. Clearly has issues having not been seen since, though. Close second over C&D (heavy) on handicap debut; off for nearly a year but still respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (25/1 -25%) Mademewhatiam |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Mademewhatiam 25/1, Out of a smart mare and caught the eye finishing with running left on his Rules debut at Hexham, However, was pulled up at Carlisle in October and finished tailed off at Wetherby last month. Will have more chance now in a handicap. Displayed minor promise when midfield in two of his three qualifying races; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (40/1 -21%) Yes And Yes |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Yes And Yes 40/1, Placed in points. Only modest form in 3 qualifying runs over hurdles and finished tailed off on handicap debut at Hereford (21.7f, good to soft) last month. Ran quite well in C&D maiden in October but tailed off in Hereford handicap since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (66/1 -450%) Tessy Lad |
66/1(-450%) | (3) Tessy Lad 66/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1½m) who showed aptitude for this job in pair of starts last winter. At the top of his game on the level in recent months but offered little on handicap hurdle debut for this new yard at Southwell last month. Needs a market check. Fair Flat-racer; unexposed over hurdles but struggled on heavy ground last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SMART CASUAL was just denied when attempting to get off the mark at Fontwell and the five-year-old, who is 3lb well-in, boasts strong credentials with the drop back in trip appearing to be in his favour. Damarta makes his handicap debut following a wind operation and commands a fair amount of respect, while Sailed Away could have more to offer on his return to 2m after not appearing to get home at Taunton last time.
An open-looking finale in which preference is for SMART CASUAL, who was collared near the line having gone like the best horse at the weights at Fontwell 10 days ago and Anthony Honeyball's 5-y-o can go a place better from an unchanged mark. Damarta has shaped better than the bare result in 3 novice hurdles this season so he rates as a significant threat on handicap debut, with Time To Dazzle and Sailed Away also capable of having a say in proceedings.
Handicap debutant DAMARTA has displayed considerable promise on all four of his hurdling starts and he appeals most.
Ths is the racecard key.
