1st (6) (4/7 +62%) Wade Out |
4/7(+62%) | (6) Wade Out 4/7, Won sole point and maintained his unbeaten record when a cosy winner of a Market Rasen bumper in March. Rates a useful hurdle prospect. Point/bumper winner who looks a good prospect for novice hurdles this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (40/1 -60%) We're Red And Blue |
40/1(-60%) | (9) We're Red And Blue 40/1, Made winning bumper debut at Hereford in February. Shaped better than a well-held fourth would suggest in a valuable bumper at Fairyhouse over Easter. 18/1, unseated early on last week's Chepstow hurdle debut and reappearance. Didn't get far on recent hurdling debut but looked promising in bumpers last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (10/3 -78%) Knight Of Allen |
10/3(-78%) | (1) Knight Of Allen 10/3, Second in a listed juvenile at Aintree last December before returning from a break to readily land short odds at Chepstow (2m, good to soft) in April. Shouldered with a penalty but still respected on return. Quickly established himself as a useful juvenile last season; leading contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (18/1 +10%) Daytime Dreaming |
18/1(+10%) | (7) Daytime Dreaming 18/1, €52,000 3-y-o and finished runner-up in a point in March. The betting should guide now hurdling for the first time. Shaped with significant promise when second on point debut in March; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (7/2 +13%) Sonification |
7/2(+13%) | (5) Sonification 7/2, Won a Chepstow bumper for Oliver Sherwood in spring 2022. Promise when fifth on hurdle debut there in November of that year. Off since but he's joined a good stable and appeals as one who can make up for lost time. Bumper winner; absent since promising hurdle debut in October 2022; remains interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (80/1 -220%) Yesanna |
80/1(-220%) | (10) Yesanna 80/1, Seventh in a Southwell bumper in May before pulling up in a course novice hurdle 19 days later. In top hands but still best watched unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Has good jumping pedigree but made low-key start to her career in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (150/1 +0%) Dublin To Milan |
150/1(+0%) | (2) Dublin To Milan 150/1, Made the frame in a trio of points. Sent off 80/1 when unseating at the second on Stratford hurdle debut 11 days ago. Likely more one for the longer term in this sphere. Showed only minor promise in points; suffered early mishap on recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 -313%) Jack Hoola |
66/1(-313%) | (8) Jack Hoola 66/1, Bought for £58,000 after finishing runner-up sole start in Irish points (Apr 27). One to note in the betting now hurdling. Bought for £58,000 soon after finishing second on Irish point debut in April; rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (150/1 -650%) Our Jesse Boy |
150/1(-650%) | (4) Our Jesse Boy 150/1, Sent off at 5/1 and hinted at ability in a Warwick bumper in April. Switches to hurdles on return. Best watched unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Showed some promise before weakening in good-ground Warwick bumper in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (200/1 -400%) Jumper Madrik |
200/1(-400%) | (3) Jumper Madrik 200/1, From good French family but looks more one for handicaps based on his efforts in novice/maiden hurdles 11 months apart. Struggled on both hurdling starts, the latter over C&D this month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Point-to-point winner WADE OUT readily beat two subsequent winners when getting off the mark on his Rules debut in a Market Rasen bumper in March, and this promising son of Shantou looks the one to be with on his hurdling debut. Runner-up in a Listed hurdle for juveniles at Aintree on his penultimate start, Knight Of Allen was on target at Chepstow when last seen and he must enter calculations. Sonification seemingly hasn't been the easiest to train, but he could land a blow if he is fully tuned up on his first start for almost two years.
WADE OUT looked promising when making a successful start to his Rules career in a Market Rasen bumper in the spring and can follow up on hurdle debut. Sonification has been off the track for 2 years but still rates a promising new recruit for the in-form Harry Derham stable and is feared more than penalised 4-y-o Knight of Allen.
Wade Out ought to make his mark in novice hurdles very soon but KNIGHT OF ALLEN sets a pretty good standard here.

1st (6) (4/1 -20%) Windsurfer |
4/1(-20%) | (6) Windsurfer 4/1, Built on bumper promise when an encouraging third in a novice at Warwick on hurdling debut five months ago. Has an experience edge over most and is expected to be right there. Placed in run-of-the-mill maiden on hurdle debut and has each-way claims again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 +18%) Diamonds For Luck |
9/2(+18%) | (1) Diamonds For Luck 9/2, Fell both starts in Irish points in March 2023 (every chance both occasions). Cost six figures subsequently and, while he disappointed in a bumper at Taunton 6 months ago, he remains with potential now hurdling. Disappointing odds-on favourite on rules debut; seemingly stable's second string here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 -6%) Jackpot D'ainay |
2/1(-6%) | (3) Jackpot D'ainay 2/1, Built on bumper debut when runner-up at Huntingdon 7 months ago and is in good hands, so worthy of respect trying obstacles for the first time. Second in Huntingdon bumper in March; ought to play a major role on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (14/1 +30%) Gasmani |
14/1(+30%) | (2) Gasmani 14/1, Winner of bumper at Newcastle in March but below that level when fourth of 9 in novice hurdle at Warwick (16f, good) on his hurdles bow 160 days ago. Needs to step forward. Won weak bumper in March; well held when fourth in run-of-the-mill maiden hurdle in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/4 +44%) Get The Beat |
9/4(+44%) | (8) Get The Beat 9/4, Half-brother to bumper winner Sharp Object and from a good family. Started well when second in a bumper on sole start for Tom Weston and has joined a top yard ahead of hurdling debut. Has joined Dan Skelton since promising bumper debut for Tom Weston in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (80/1 -142%) Off To Alabama |
80/1(-142%) | (5) Off To Alabama 80/1, Telescope gelding who won 11-runner bumper at Wetherby (16f, heavy, 66/1) in February but failed to back it up on both subsequent outings. Starts life over hurdles after 5 months off. Shock winner on bumper debut but well beaten in both subsequent bumpers; hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (200/1 -203%) Jimmyjeroo |
200/1(-203%) | (4) Jimmyjeroo 200/1, Out of a point winner but didn't offer much in a bumper for Mick Appleby. Hard to fancy on hurdling debut after 8 months off. Tailed-off 40-1 shot in soft-ground bumper for another stable in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (66/1 -100%) Eskimo Sam |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Eskimo Sam 66/1, Related to a winner but 16/1 and didn't offer a great deal of encouragement in a bumper here 84 days ago. Others preferred. Unable to land a telling blow when 16-1 for good-ground course bumper on debut in July. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GET THE BEAT gets a tentative vote. He made a pleasing start when finishing runner-up in a Wetherby bumper in March and, having subsequently been snapped up by the Dan Skelton team, it would be no surprise if he were able to go one place better on his hurdling debut. 72,000-euro purchase Jackpot D'ainay performed with credit in a bumper when second over 2m at Huntingdon towards the back end of last season and he looks the main danger. Windsurfer is respected most of the remainder.
GET THE BEAT showed plenty when runner-up in a bumper for Tom Weston 6 months ago and he's joined top connections since, so he's marginally preferred to Windsurfer, who made a solid start to life over hurdles at Warwick five months ago. Diamonds For Luck also merits consideration.
This may be fought out by Jackpot D'Ainay and GET THE BEAT, who both finished second in soft-ground bumpers in March.

Hoe Joly Smoke |
(7) (13/8 +59%)13/8(+59%) | (7) Hoe Joly Smoke 13/8, Successful sole outing between the flags. Achieved only fair form over hurdles but no surprise to see him do better as chaser. Off 10 months. Winning pointer; promise over hurdles (bled on latest start); interesting on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Resplendent Grey |
(2) (10/3 +5%)10/3(+5%) | (2) Resplendent Grey 10/3, Three-time hurdles winner, including a career-best performance at Uttoxeter when last seen in May. Goes well fresh (second in Grade 2 novice at Chepstow last autumn) and should make a chaser. Hood re-fitted. Has won a bumper and 3 times over hurdles, latest a C&D handicap; chance on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Autumn Return |
(6) (4/1 +43%)4/1(+43%) | (6) Autumn Return 4/1, Irish point/bumper winner who quickly developed into a most likeable hurdler, winning 4 times, and off the mark at the first attempt in this sphere when making a winning return in 4-runner handicap at Perth 3 weeks ago, holding on gamely. Should go well again. Won four over hurdles; off the mark on chase debut at Perth last month; up 3lb; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Malaita |
(5) (13/2 +54%)13/2(+54%) | (5) Malaita 13/2, Held her form well over fences last season and got off the mark in 4-runner handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, soft) in March. Some improvement when following up at Cheltenham following month but rare poor effort at Uttoxeter since. This likeable mare should bounce back on return. Dual hurdle winner who won two novice handicap chases last term; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Classic King |
(3) (8/1 +0%)8/1(+0%) | (3) Classic King 8/1, Made a winning start over hurdles at Wincanton (15.2f) on return last season and even better form when runner-up next 4 of 5 starts. Not the most fluent of jumpers over hurdles and switches to fences on seasonal bow. Won on seasonal/hurdles debut last term; sound efforts after that; chase debut; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ike Sport |
(1) (9/1 -50%)9/1(-50%) | (1) Ike Sport 9/1, Improved model during second half of last year and took another step forward when landing competitive Sandown handicap in good style at the end of April. Predictably hit hard for that (up 11 lb) but he still acquitted himself well when third at Market Rasen since. Respected on chase bow. Progressive over hurdles last term; went up 11lb for third win; stiff mark for chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A race in which few can be confidently ruled out, so only a tentative vote goes to HOE JOLY SMOKE. Dan Skelton's charge shaped with plenty of promise when finishing second on his handicap hurdling debut in a hot race at Newbury last winter, and this mark could prove to be well within range on his chasing bow. Resplendent Grey was last seen running out a ready winner at this track over hurdles in May and he must enter calculations going chasing for the first time. Given the connections of point-to-point winner Myretown, it would be no surprise if significant improvement was forthcoming now he gets a fence.
Claims can be made for all of these, but MYRETOWN arguably has the most potential going chasing for the first time so gets the vote. Likeable pair Autumn Return and Malaita have the advantage of experience over fences so they head the dangers.
An open race can go to MYRETOWN who showed decent form over hurdles last season and can improve now he's going chasing.

Vision De Maine |
(9) (13/8 +73%)13/8(+73%) | (9) Vision De Maine 13/8, Successful sole start in Irish points and showed ability in sole bumper outing and in a trio of starts over hurdles. Market check advised on chase/handicap debut. Point winner; low-key start to rules career over hurdles; can improve in handicap chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Special Acceptance |
(2) (9/2 +0%)9/2(+0%) | (2) Special Acceptance 9/2, Not the easiest to win with but made the frame on 5 of his 6 starts for Paul Webber last season and is fairly treated on debut for new connections here. Has modest strike-rate but makes seasonal/stable debut from a workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mixedwave |
(5) (11/2 +8%)11/2(+8%) | (5) Mixedwave 11/2, Consistent performer who rarely runs a bad race and won twice last term (also disqualified after scoring at Market Rasen). Fairly treated on return and is one for shortlist. In good form at start of this year; back from break; may prefer right-handed tracks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tedwin Hills |
(4) (15/2 -36%)15/2(-36%) | (4) Tedwin Hills 15/2, Disappointed when last seen at Hereford 11 months ago but had opened his account at Huntingdon (24f) previously and must enter calculations on debut for new yard here. Wide-margin winner for Emma Lavelle a year ago; off since lesser effort a few weeks later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dusautior |
(8) (15/2 +17%)15/2(+17%) | (8) Dusautior 15/2, Below best when last seen at Southwell in June but had scored at Bangor (24.1f) previously and remains low mileage over fences. Low-mileage 6yo; won over fences in April and should still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lepashe |
(10) (17/2 +29%)17/2(+29%) | (10) Lepashe 17/2, Remains a maiden and posted disappointing fifth over hurdles at Hereford when last seen in May. Has been given considerable help from the handicapper but his chasing record is poor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Wrekin |
(1) (12/1 -140%)12/1(-140%) | (1) The Wrekin 12/1, Off the mark over fences at fourth attempt when taking 5-runner handicap at Market Rasen (23.9f, good) in August of last year. Not seen since but is worth a check in market on return. Won off this mark under determined ride in August 2023; not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Toronet |
(7) (40/1 -100%)40/1(-100%) | (7) Toronet 40/1, Winner of a French claiming hurdle last February and bettered previous efforts on these shores when third in a course handicap (19.9f, heavy) at the beginning of this year. However, he has yet to show much in a couple of starts in this sphere. Quite well handicapped on hurdling form but first two chasing attempts were disappointing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Wrekin has shown an aptitude for chasing and, having broken his duck in this discipline at Market Rasen when last seen, he warrants serious consideration on his return. However, an absence since August 2023 combined with the burden of top-weight makes this a tough ask. With that in mind, a chance is taken that DUSAUTIOR can take advantage of a potentially lenient mark and double his career tally with trip and ground ideal. Mixedwave and Tedwin Hills are other notable contenders.
Preference is for TEDWIN HILLS, who has only had a handful of starts over fences and hails from a yard amongst the winners. Mixedwave and Vision de Maine rate the principal dangers.
A chance is taken on very unexposed 5yo VISION DE MAINE, who is open to significant improvement on this chase/handicap debut.

Pretending |
(8) (11/4 +45%)11/4(+45%) | (8) Pretending 11/4, Won twice last season, latterly making all in a big-field event at Cheltenham (2½m) in April. The handicapper raised her 7 lb for that and she'll require another career best to follow up on her return to action. Career best at Cheltenham in the spring; up another 7lb but she's a likeable mare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dargiannini |
(1) (3/1 -9%)3/1(-9%) | (1) Dargiannini 3/1, C&D winner who made it 3-5 in handicap hurdles since joining Harry Derham when comfortably seeing off 6 rivals at Kempton (21f) last November. Not seen since but he has a decent record fresh and his yard is going well. 3-6 for this yard and impressive at Kempton last November; up 6lb; goes well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lac De Constance |
(2) (11/2 +8%)11/2(+8%) | (2) Lac De Constance 11/2, Useful over hurdles and fences. Absent finishing a creditable third in 19f Haydock handicap hurdle last November but handicapped to go well if primed after 11 months off. Regressed over fences but latest third in a Class 2 hurdle was a solid effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ballybegg |
(5) (6/1 +25%)6/1(+25%) | (5) Ballybegg 6/1, Dual C&D winner whose latest success came over fences at Ludlow in January. Off since finishing a respectable fourth back hurdling here in May. Given a chance by the handicapper in this sphere but no great record when fresh. Goes well here; only fourth last time but didn't run badly and has dropped 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pyramid Place |
(3) (13/2 -30%)13/2(-30%) | (3) Pyramid Place 13/2, Better than when recording a seventh handicap hurdle win of his career at Aintree (2½m, good to soft) in May. Not in the same form when seventh at Market Rasen the following month, after which he left Harriet Dickin. New stable is in good form. Another new yard but this multiple winner will need his best form yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thanksforthehelp |
(6) (10/1 -43%)10/1(-43%) | (6) Thanksforthehelp 10/1, Won twice in spring 2023 but disappointed in 2 outings 9 months apart last season and absent for a further 8 months ahead of this reappearance. Best watched unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Interesting on his form of two seasons ago but further would be ideal for him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tamar Bridge |
(7) (14/1 +13%)14/1(+13%) | (7) Tamar Bridge 14/1, Completed a hurdle hat-trick in 2021 but has pulled up on all 3 outings since, the latest over fences at Exeter in November 2022. A watching brief has to be the call after such a long layoff. 6lb beneath his last winning mark but was pulled up on all three of his outings in 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Willaston |
(4) (18/1 -29%)18/1(-29%) | (4) Willaston 18/1, Had a good spell with 2 wins in spring 2023. Also a creditable second at Bangor in spring of this year but off since a lesser effort at Cartmel at the end of May. Knows how to win; Bangor second reads well and latest effort was too bad to be true. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A comfortable winner at Kempton when last seen, DARGIANNINI is the most appealing option despite the lengthy absence since last November. However, given none of the others have had a recent outing, that might not be such an issue. Ballybegg is a C&D winner who starts the new campaign on a workable mark, while Pretending enters calculations from the foot of the handicap off just 7lb higher than her Cheltenham success in April.
The Harry Derham stable has very much clicked into gear in recent days and DARGIANNINI can make a successful return to action. Lac de Constance has a good record fresh and is second choice ahead of Olly Murphy's new recruit Pyramid Place.
Kerry Lee's BALLYBEGG (nap) often gives his true running here and the handicapper has given him every chance of returning to form.

Tedley |
(3) (15/8 +58%)15/8(+58%) | (3) Tedley 15/8, Wincanton maiden hurdles winner (2m) in February. Faster ground possibly the issue when run of form came to an end at Bangor when last seen in June. Makes chase debut. Not that well treated over hurdles but still competitive; making chase debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cabhfuilfungi |
(4) (3/1 +25%)3/1(+25%) | (4) Cabhfuilfungi 3/1, Fair hurdles winner who made a decent start for this yard when second at Hereford in April. Disappointed following month but back on track sent chasing when second over C&D on return 12 days ago, his jumping looking assured in the main. Player. Won his hurdle over 2m4f so did well to be second on recent chase debut over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Torneo |
(6) (4/1 +20%)4/1(+20%) | (6) Torneo 4/1, Fairly useful winner on the Flat in France and won a weak juvenile hurdle at Wetherby in January. Found only one too good on handicap debut at Fontwell following month. Well held at Bangor next time and off since. Has benefit of 4-y-o allowance on chase debut (yard has done well with similar types). Not bred for chasing but useful and lightly raced over hurdles; likely to front run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lebowski |
(1) (9/1 -157%)9/1(-157%) | (1) Lebowski 9/1, Three-time hurdle winner for Michael Scudamore and much better effort for Lucinda Russell when second of 5 at Newcastle when last seen in December. Has since change yards again and goes chasing for the first time. Has never been that consistent but could make a chaser and this mark is okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Inedit De Mee |
(5) (10/1 -33%)10/1(-33%) | (5) Inedit De Mee 10/1, Showed fairly useful form when runner-up on the last 3 of his 4 starts in 2021/22 for J. Boisnard. Didn't offer a great deal on debut for this stable at Doncaster in December, though, and was brought down early doors at Chepstow on chase bow when last seen in April. Ability in France; lightly raced in Britain (unseated chase debut) and still a dark horse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Neigh Botha |
(7) (11/1 +21%)11/1(+21%) | (7) Neigh Botha 11/1, Made a successful return over fences at Southwell (2m) in June and backed it up with a good third at Worcester. Jumping issues quickly resurfaced at Bangor next time, however, and has since had a respectable spin over hurdles. Chase winner; returned to hurdling two weeks ago and ran just okay in that 15l defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Quick Sharpener |
(2) (14/1 -211%)14/1(-211%) | (2) Quick Sharpener 14/1, Point winner and dual scorer over hurdles in 2022/23. Should make a chaser but has an absence (19 months) to defy. Dual novice winner; should take to chasing, judged on his pedigree and point win. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CABHFUILFUNGI chased home an odds-on favourite of Dan Skelton's over this C&D 12 days ago and, due to be nudged up 1lb in the future, he is taken to cope with the quick turnaround and put his match-fitness to good use. Lebowski is a notable option on his debut for a new yard and, along with Neigh Botha, he warrants close scrutiny in the betting. Similar comments apply to Quick Sharpener despite his 592-day absence.
TORNEO isn't a chasing type on looks but he has the benefit of a 4-y-o allowance and is from a yard that has done well with similar types in recent years. Cabhfuilfungi was a bit flattered by his proximity to the winner but still shaped pretty well sent chasing over this C&D on return 12 days ago and rates the main threat in what looks a difficult race to call.
Kerry Lee's CABHFUILFUNGI might be that bit sharper than some of these after going close on his recent chase debut here.

(1) (10/3 +17%)10/3(+17%) | (1) Prolific Profile 10/3, Lightly-raced sort who was much improved when landing 12-runner handicap hurdle at Bangor (16.7f, good) in September. Progressed again when following up from a 6 lb higher mark over C&D 12 days ago and looks sure to go well in his hat-trick bid under a 7-lb penalty. Might be progressive enough to defy the penalty provided he copes with softer ground. |

(13) (9/2 +86%)9/2(+86%) | (13) Henrysbrotherjack 9/2, Stoutly bred sort who didn't show a great deal in 4 runs over hurdles last season, including on handicap debut at Market Rasen on final outing. Big step forward required. Uncompetitive on handicap debut and this stoutly-bred 5yo is likely to want further. |

Fourtowns |
(2) (13/2 -44%)13/2(-44%) | (2) Fourtowns 13/2, Fair in bumpers and similar form over hurdles, finishing third in a 19f maiden at Warwick in May. Disappointed in a first-time tongue strap at Worcester 3 months later and was in the process of backing out of things when falling 2 out at Newton Abbot last time. Has had a breathing op. Nine-race maiden with ability; has had wind surgery ahead of this handicap debut. |

Quian |
(7) (7/1 +7%)7/1(+7%) | (7) Quian 7/1, Won a Taunton handicap hurdle for Thomas Gallagher in December. Has been underwhelming since and was beaten by more than the trip alone at Ffos Las (20f) on first start for current yard in May. Given a chance by the assessor, nonetheless. Struggles continued on May's stable debut and needs a major revival. |

Found it tougher back in a handicap at Perth next time but it's still relatively early days. Hood on for 1st time. Maiden winner; looks on a tough enough mark unless the hood can improve her. |

Twp Stori |
(11) (11/1 -47%)11/1(-47%) | (11) Twp Stori 11/1, Steadily progressive sort who scored at Fontwell in March and progressed again when second of 9 in handicap here (23.3f, soft) in May. Probably has more to offer but the return to a much shorter trip has to be concern. In form earlier this year but over much longer trips; 2m never looked his trip in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
State Of Fame |
(3) (14/1 -40%)14/1(-40%) | (3) State Of Fame 14/1, Bumper winner but yet to win over hurdles and ran badly returned to a handicap at Warwick when last seen 17 months ago. Has struck 3 times in points subsequently and market perhaps best guide now returning to Rules for a new yard (sold from Tim Vaughan £4,000). Tongue strap on for 1st time. Three-point winner, including over 3m2f; 2m could be too sharp on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Motazzen |
(9) (16/1 +0%)16/1(+0%) | (9) Motazzen 16/1, A fair winner at 14f on Flat and left previous hurdling form behind when second in first-time blinkers at Uttoxeter (15.8f) in July. Promised more than he delivered when fifth at Bangor and ran even worse back up in trip at Huntingdon last time. Tongue tie refitted. Runner-up here in July and getting back on rain-softened ground won't harm his chances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dundory |
(14) (22/1 -57%)22/1(-57%) | (14) Dundory 22/1, Fairly useful on Flat (below form last 2 starts). Yet to get anywhere near that level over hurdles but showed more when third on handicap debut at Wincanton in March. Ran to a similar level at Ludlow next time but wasn't quite in the same form at Ffos Las on final start in this sphere. Ran respectably in handicap hurdles earlier this year and lurks on a low weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Trevor's Lad |
(6) (25/1 0%)25/1(0%) | (6) Trevor's Lad 25/1, Milan gelding who displayed definite promise on first of his 2 starts in novice hurdles during 2022/23 season. However, pulled up on return/handicap debut at Fontwell in April and is likely best watched back from further 6-month absence here. Has had only three runs; bled when pulled up on handicap debut latest; too much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tropical Talent |
(8) (28/1 -180%)28/1(-180%) | (8) Tropical Talent 28/1, Modest/hurdler chaser who ran below form at Southwell (15.8f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Back over hurdles now and fitted with first-time cheekpieces. Has edged up the weights and the recent rain may have scuppered him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Scorsese |
(5) (33/1 -32%)33/1(-32%) | (5) Scorsese 33/1, Showed fair form in maiden hurdles in Ireland but has been soundly beaten all 3 starts for current yard. Could only consider if backed. Tailed off in three handicaps for new stable this year (2m3f-2m4f) and 0-6 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Allibaba |
(12) (66/1 -313%)66/1(-313%) | (12) Allibaba 66/1, Poor maiden hurdler who ran respectably when third of 11 in handicap at Kelso (20.9f, soft) on final outing 11 months ago. Drops in trip on this return to action. Not overly convincing on the balance of his form and last two runs were over 2m5f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PROLIFIC PROFILE is beginning to live up to his name. A winner at Bangor last month before recording a comfortable success over C&D earlier this month, Katy Price's gelding remains open to further improvement and is fancied to complete the hat-trick. Villainess was unable to justify favouritism at Perth in May but with a hood applied for the first time, she could step forward. Runner-up over an extended 2m7f here last time, Twp Stori is interesting dropped in distance.
PROLIFIC PROFILE is going the right way now and, having got the better of a well-backed stable switcher on his most recent outing over C&D, he makes plenty of appeal in his hat-trick bid. Villainess was a shade disappointing back in handicap company at Perth in May but it's still relatively early days in her career and she's not one to give up on just yet based on her earlier form. Quian undoubtedly has something to prove but he's been given a real chance by the assessor.
A few in here could have done without the recent rain but it might actually suit MOTAZZEN who was runner-up here three starts ago.

Dream Shadow |
(1) (11/4 -38%)11/4(-38%) | (1) Dream Shadow 11/4, Easy winner sole start in Irish points 18 months ago and offered plenty to work on amidst greenness when third of 10 in bumper at this C&D (heavy) back in April, staying on final 1f for hand riding. Likely to improve for her top yard, she's fancied to go close. Promising third in bumper over C&D; looks to have plenty more to offer so a big player. |

Strong Run |
(4) (10/3 +58%)10/3(+58%) | (4) Strong Run 10/3, Passing Glance mare. Sister to useful bumper winner/very smart hurdler Strong Leader and bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Strong Glance. dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/high-class chaser (stayed 3¼m) Strong Flow. 1 of 2 strong contenders for this yard. Sister to smart winner Strong Leader; this Passing Glance mare commands plenty of respect. |

Georgia's Charm |
(9) (7/2 +22%)7/2(+22%) | (9) Georgia's Charm 7/2, Sent off at 4/11 but failed to build on debut promise having left Ms Margaret Mullins (for £27,000) and missed 5 months when second of 6 in bumper at Warwick (16f, good) just over 3 weeks ago, left with too much to do. Fancied to be in the mix. Runner-up in bumper at Warwick 24 days ago; open to fair bit of progress and can go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tillaway |
(5) (7/1 +36%)7/1(+36%) | (5) Tillaway 7/1, Stepped up from debut when third of 11 in bumper at Wexford (16f, heavy) when last seen 5 months ago. Has since left S. Michael Millar and a first-time hood goes on. Market can guide expectations. Third in bumper at Wexford in May; needs considering for her new handler with a hood added. |

Service Minimum |
(12) (15/2 -7%)15/2(-7%) | (12) Service Minimum 15/2, €52,000 3-y-o, Doctor Dino filly. Half-sister to fairly useful French 2¼m hurdle winner Tanzanite. Dam French hurdler (2m winner). Makes plenty of appeal on paper for her top yard. Doctor Dino filly; in excellent hands so she's a much respected newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Varinia |
(6) (14/1 +13%)14/1(+13%) | (6) Varinia 14/1, Soldier Hollow mare. Dam jump winner in Czech Republic. Successful on second of 2 starts in point bumpers (May 18). Landed a point bumper in May so this newcomer is no forlorn hope and worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Crackerjack Queen |
(7) (20/1 -25%)20/1(-25%) | (7) Crackerjack Queen 20/1, Jack Hobbs filly. Dam (c144/h138), 2½m-3m hurdle/chase winner, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stays 3¼m) Mister Malarky. Failed to complete both starts in points, every chance when fell second one (Apr 14). Jack Hobbs filly; close up when fell 2 out in point in April; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Walkingtheline |
(13) (25/1 -108%)25/1(-108%) | (13) Walkingtheline 25/1, £25,000 3-y-o, Policy Maker filly. Dam unraced sister to useful hurdle winner/smart chaser who became unreliable (stayed 2¾m) Us And Them. Interesting newcomer. This Policy Maker filly can't be ruled out, especially if the market vibes are positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Eliza Storm |
(2) (28/1 -40%)28/1(-40%) | (2) Eliza Storm 28/1, Related to three winners and shaped better than first time up when fourth of 13 in bumper at Southwell (15.8f, good) back in May. Another step forward needed to get involved. Much better effort in bumpers when fourth at Southwell in May; more is needed though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Eileen's Orders |
(8) (33/1 0%)33/1(0%) | (8) Eileen's Orders 33/1, Order of St George filly who hinted at ability when sixth of 13 in bumper at Southwell (15.8f, good) back in May. Will need to take a big step forward to get involved on return. Some promise when sixth of 13 in bumper at Southwell in May; she needs to build on it now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hidden Star |
(10) (40/1 +39%)40/1(+39%) | (10) Hidden Star 40/1, Falco filly. Dam, refused only start over hurdles, 1m/8.3f winner on Flat. Hooded on debut. Falco filly; hooded for her debut and the market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sally Mclennane |
(11) (66/1 -100%)66/1(-100%) | (11) Sally Mclennane 66/1, Wings of Eagles filly who showed ability despite being in need of experience when fifth of 17 in bumper at Newbury (16.3f, heavy) on debut 10 months ago. Encouraging debut fifth in bumper at Newbury ten months ago; needs to hit ground running. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Fergal O'Brien often does well with his bumper horses and his pair DREAM SHADOW and Strong Run are expected to go well, with preference for the former. The mare fetched 100,000 pounds after winning a point-to-point last year and made a positive start to life under Rules when third over C&D in April. Doctor Dino filly Service Minimum has to be of interest for the Skeltons, while others to note include Varinia and Georgia's Charm.
DREAM SHADOW showed plenty of ability when third over C&D on debut back in April and, with further improvement on the cards, Fergal O'Brien's mare is fancied to go a couple of places better at the expense of Georgia's Charm, who was sent off a warm order on her recent yard debut but was ultimately left with too much to do. Debutantes Strong Run, Service Minimum and Walkingtheline all tick plenty of boxes on paper so round off the shortlist.
Fergal O'Brien's easy point scorer DREAM SHADOW is taken to build on her promising C&D debut third and make a winning seasonal return
Ths is the racecard key.
