LTO Selection:

12:15 Thurles Handicap Chase 25f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BALDUR'S GATE is 8lb higher than when winning at Punchestown but seems suited by this test of stamina. His earlier middle-distance form was also useful and has obvious claims on today's suitably soft surface. Toofareastiswest ran well when rated 2lb lower here last month and with today's rider claiming 5lb, should run well although tackles this slightly longer distance for the first time. Leish Oscars Son won an ordinary Tramore beginners chase last month but retains his same rating and could be suited by today's stamina test, having easily won an April soft-ground point-to-point. Friends N Commerce is a 17-race maiden but is suited by conditions and can compete under top weight on his handicap chase debut. Tullyhogue Fort was unsuited by two miles at Aintree and steps back up in distance, while his neighbour Fill The Tank reverts to fences. Game And Glory and veteran stablemate Dorans River have been running well while last year's winner Lizrona is race-fit but has been well held in recent starts.

LEISH OSCARS SON overcame trouble in running to score in a novice at Tramore recently and a mark of 107 looks more than fair, so he's well worth a chance to defy it. Friends N Commerce looks the main danger and Baldur's Gate is likely to put up a solid showing for all that he doesn't appear to be as well treated as the selection.

Recent beginners' chase winner LEISH OSCARS SON seems to be getting his act together and can improve on previous handicap form

LTO Selection:

12:50 Thurles Handicap Chase 18f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NEVERADULLMOMENT is suited by this distance and soft ground and ran well in two of three recent chase outings. He chased home a capable type at Galway in October, ran well at Wexford recently (McAlpine finished sixth) and while he took 12 runs to win over hurdles, was consistent and today's rider claims 2lb. Time Marches On was a 10-race maiden over hurdles but seems better in this sphere and indeed competes with a 4lb-lower rating. He is a little hit-and-miss but his Cork rated race win was good. Battle Of Ridgeway rarely leaves Tipperary and while well held over hurdles at Thurles, will be seen in a better light reverting to fences, although he must compete off a career high mark. Willywampus has won just once from 27 runs but has been running well over fences and is suited by conditions. Ricky Langford and Ardamir have recent form while Itwasfate runs in first-time cheekpieces.

BATTLE OF RIDGEWAY disappointed back over hurdles last time but is worth another chance returned to fences having made an impressing winning chase bow here the time before. Willywampus and Time Marches On head the dangers.

An improved round of jumping was instrumental in TIME MARCHES ON (nap) gaining a first chase win at Cork. He can follow up now

LTO Selection:

13:25 Thurles Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

JIMMY DU SEUIL ran twice in France and latterly finished second in as Fontainebleau bumper in September 2022 so could be good. That winner was subsequently Grade 3-placed, the third was later Grade 1-placed while fourth-placed Jit Langy has since joined and been successful for Willie Mullins. The selection is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Iberique Du Seuil. Ankud ran well over course and distance last month but is vulnerable to smart types while Farmers Lodge bumped into Daddy Long Legs here last month and should improve, as it was his first run for 712 days. Dollar Nolimit needs to improve to win while owner-ridden Asian Master has plenty on his plate despite debuting for Willie Mullins. Monsieur Azul runs in a first-time tongue-tie on his first run in 79 days while 100-rated Missus Beeton has a tough task.

The French bumper JIMMY DU SEUIL finished second in back in September 2022 worked out well and though he's been off the track since, he couldn't be in better hands. Ankud is open to progress and is feared most, with Monsieur Azul another to consider.

Looking to face a lesser task than on his recent C&D return from a long absence, FARMERS LODGE is taken to score here

LTO Selection:

14:00 Thurles Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Grade 2 bumper winner FUN FUN FUN won well on hurdles debut here last month. A keen-goer, she should benefit from that experience and is well suited by this distance and a sound surface. A Law Of Her Own won a handicap hurdle at the Galway festival and has a clear experience-advantage but was well held in a recent Grade 3. Birdie Or Bust disappointed in that Down Royal race and while she was previously better, nonetheless should struggle to beat the selection. Pink In The Park has winning form at this distance but might ideally prefer further and concedes 4lb. Miss Agusta finished 17 lengths behind the selection in a Punchestown Festival bumper and has more on her plate that when winning at Galway. Pastorale won a French chase last January but needs to improve from her Irish debut.

FUN FUN FUN looked an exciting prospect when making a winning start in this sphere here last month and is hard to side against with plenty of improvement in the pipeline. Birdie Or Bust also has better days ahead of her and is next on the list ahead of Miss Agusta and A Law of Her Own who can fight it out for minor honours.

Grade 2 bumper winner FUN FUN FUN should be ready for this step-up in grade after a facile C&D maiden success.

LTO Selection:

14:35 Thurles Handicap Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BOWMORE lacks a recent run but is suited by this distance and yielding ground. He ran well in a hot Leopardstown maiden last Christmas before winning at Wexford and while the lacks of a recent run isn't ideal, his Roscommon form is useful and being lightly-raced can progress. Clever Currency is dependable under all codes and while he doesn't appear ahead of the handicapper, should run his usual race. Abbeydale was well held on his latest run in March but is better judged on previous form and debuts in handicaps under a 5lb claimer. Whiskeywealth is rated 13lb lower in this sphere than over fences and finished third on his latest hurdles run in March. Theonewedreamof has won once from 12 hurdle runs and was well held on a recent run. Minx Tiara is rated 6lb higher over fences but was well held on her most recent hurdles outing while Rock On Seamie ran well at Gowran in September. Joey Sheridan has his first jumps ride on long-absent Zoffanien.

WHISKEYWEALTH has a lower mark to work with over hurdles in relation to his chase rating and with a good-value 7 lb conditional on, he has a lot to recommend him. Bowmore is going the right way and is in superb hands so he's a threat, along with Marvel Fan.

The ground appears to come right for CLEVER CURRENCY who has been in fine form of late over fences and on the polytrack

LTO Selection:

15:10 Thurles Maiden Hurdle 23f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

GETAWAY CHARLIE has recent course and distance form. Runner-up to Corbetts Cross in an October 2022 bumper, he was beaten 22 lengths by Easy Fella last June and while now 14lb better off, he has also improved recently. The winner of his recent C&D race disappointed on a subsequent run but the fourth-placed mare was Grade 3-placed last weekend. Easy Fella debuts for a new yard and while he will appreciate the forecast conditions, lacks a recent run. Bob Cigar was beaten 10 lengths by Ottizzini last May and while the former won recently, Ottizzini's two recent runs were underwhelming. Camino Rock runs from 2lb out of the handicap and hasn't run since August but stays well and was a close third of 25 at the Punchestown festival in April. Mint Boy was a disappointing beaten-favourite at Galway in October but is capable of better and steps up in distance while Kimbara was well beaten in a November Grade 2 at Cheltenham and drops in grade.

KINBARA wasn't disgraced when fourth in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last month and can resume winning ways back down in class. The progressive Bob Cigar is next best ahead of Easy Fella and Getaway Charlie.

The vote goes to BOB CIGAR who can continue to make progress after a convincing handicap win at Punchestown

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

FEMME MAGNIFIQUE finished second on point-to-point debut and while it is a small concern she runs in a tongue-tie, has joined formidable connections. Previously trained by Matthew Flynn O'Connor, the winner of that Carrigarostig point was subsequently sold for 85,000 pounds but has disappointed once in the UK although the beaten final-fence faller subsequently won a maiden hurdle, which adds weight to the form. Stagecoach Mary has run well twice and debuts for a new yard. She was well held in a Gowran Listed bumper in September but that was a strong race and this is a lesser assignment. Pitwood Road won at Curraghmore last April and having run well in a Tipperary point-to-point bumper subsequently, should competitive. Lady Bluebird finished a useful second when beating Amanha by nine lengths into third at Naas last month while Whatsupnellie ran well at Limerick and can progress. Thats All was well beaten when finishing third at Punchestown while Koolio Kate is a half-sister to two winners and might be useful.

FEMME MAGNIFIQUE has already shown plenty in points and represents top connections, so she's a confident choice to make a successful Rules debut. Pitwood Road is the best of those with bumper form and Whatsupnell can't be ruled out.

Femme Magnifique has to be respected for the champion trainer but perhaps PITWOOD ROAD could take the beating

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
