BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD has to be taken very seriously on her hurdling debut. Gordon Elliott's charge was a decisive winner of two bumpers including when last seen in the valuable Tattersalls Ireland Sales Bumper at Fairyhouse in April. She is a half-sister to the ill-fated Mighty Potter who scored on hurdle debut before winning at Grade 1 level, so Brighterdaysahead has plenty of upside. Rockstown Girl has decent bumper form, but was unable to reel in the winner of a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle at the start of the month. There should be more to come from her in this discipline, though. Roccos Inspiration will welcome all the forecast rain and it is worth noting that she has been placed in six maiden hurdles. River Tara and Gone For Tea have the ability to get in the mix, but wouldn't want the ground to get testing.
BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD makes loads of appeal on paper and looked a good prospect herself when making it 2-2 in bumpers back in the spring. Very much the type to make her mark over hurdles, she's fancied to make her presence felt for her powerful yard. Rockstown Girl, River Tara and Gone For Tea all rate likely improvers and can give the selection most to do, in that order.

1st (1) (2.5/1 -11%) Star Official |
2.5/1(-11%) | (1) Star Official 2.5/1, Creditable second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (16f, heavy, 7/2) 7 days ago, headed final 50 yds. Expected to be in the mix with a repeat. Last week's Tramore second on heavy augurs well but needs to jump better; up 3lb in future. |

2nd (11) (14/1 +0%) Destivelle |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Destivelle 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue tie/cheekpieces fitted, eighth of 9 in handicap (40/1) at Tramore (12f, good) 36 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (9/1 +73%) Outdoor Mozzy |
9/1(+73%) | (13) Outdoor Mozzy 9/1, Maiden. Fared little better than previously when ninth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (16.6f) in August, merely passing beaten horses. Others make more appeal. Promising Punchestown run at the start of the campaign but well held both starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/1 +36%) Romella |
7/1(+36%) | (7) Romella 7/1, Well held first 2 starts following an absence this term but significant step back in right direction from much-reduced mark when fifth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.6f) 9 days ago, noted finishing well. In the mix if she can back that up. Down to a nice mark but ground concerns given forecast rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (100/1 -100%) Trenchtown Rock |
100/1(-100%) | (14) Trenchtown Rock 100/1, Dual winner over hurdles in 2019 but not tasted success since and he offered little following a lengthy absence when eleventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (2m) 3 weeks ago. This ought to reveal more. Off 2 years until last month; entitled to come on for that but watching brief advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (8/1 +76%) O'faolains Glory |
8/1(+76%) | (12) O'faolains Glory 8/1, Fame And Glory mare. Easy to back, fared no better than previously when eighth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (3m, soft) 4 weeks ago. Quickly dropped back to the minimum trip now. Down to basement mark after three handicap runs and remains opposable. |

10/1(+80%) | (15) Up She Flew 10/1, 28/1, produced a laboured display when sixth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (20.2f, good to soft) 54 days ago, going in snatches. Down in trip. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Plenty to find on form. Excuses of late; cheekpieces now fitted and improvement not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/2(+0%) | (10) Cullenwaine 9/2, Good second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Downpatrick (17.8f, soft, 8/1) 34 days ago, headed 1f out and no extra. Claims with a repeat in an ordinary contest. Downpatrick second withdrawn at same venue since due to soft ground; claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (18) (33/1 +34%) Masterstonemason |
33/1(+34%) | (18) Masterstonemason 33/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 28/1, ninth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20.2f, heavy) 19 days ago. Down in trip. Reserve 3. Back to optimum trip but hard to fancy; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (6/1 -80%) Portarlington |
6/1(-80%) | (3) Portarlington 6/1, Good third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (17f, good to soft, 7/1) 18 days ago. Tongue strap back on and he needs to keep mistakes to a minimum once more. Killarney run a step in the right direction but more likely needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (14/1 -17%) Corkbeg |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Corkbeg 14/1, 80/1, tenth of 11 in novice chase at Wexford (19.8f, heavy) on debut over fences 69 days ago, mistake first and always behind. No forlorn hope returned to timber. Wants better ground so predicted rain an obvious concern. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
STAR OFFICIAL has shown enough since switching his attention to hurdling to suggest he can gain a breakthrough success. A winner on the flat at Killarney around this time last year, the five-year-old has caught the eye on a few occasions since going jumping. Having finished runner-up at Tramore on his most recent start, the Dick Donohoe-trained gelding can go one place better. On My Bike has been somewhat unpredictable since going handicapping but the Gavin Cromwell-trained five-year-old would be a danger on the best of his recent form. He takes a significant step back down in trip here so that could unlock further improvement. Be My Hero went very close at Bellewstown on his penultimate start before running below par last time. A reproduction of that earlier run would probably be good enough here.
This looks trappy but STAR OFFICIAL found it easier dropped in grade when second of 10 in a Tramore handicap 7 days ago, and a repeat from the same mark gives him good claims once more. Be My Hero and Romella are others to consider, with Cullenwaine another not out of things.

1st (2) (11/4 -57%) Beacon Edge |
11/4(-57%) | (2) Beacon Edge 11/4, Very smart chaser. 25/1, creditable sixth of 25 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (23.6f, good to soft) 175 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Noel Meade. Player. Probably not quite the force he was but definite player on debut for Gordon Elliott. |

2nd (3) (3/1 +25%) Cash Back |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Cash Back 3/1, Smart chaser. Course winner. 25/1, creditable seventh of 17 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft) 27 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Heading back in the right direction recently so must enter calculations. Reliable front-runner over shorter trips but legitimate stamina concerns at this trip. |

3rd (1) (10/3 -21%) Aspire Tower |
10/3(-21%) | (1) Aspire Tower 10/3, 33/1, well-beaten last of 8 to Honeysuckle in Punchestown Champion Hurdle at Punchestown (16f, good to soft). Off over 2 years with his fitness to prove. Long absent but runs well fresh; class above these if anywhere near his best and stays. |

4th (5) (12/1 +33%) Walking On Glass |
12/1(+33%) | (5) Walking On Glass 12/1, Useful hurdler. 12/1, good second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (24f, heavy) 19 days ago. This demands more but he's no forlorn hope. Running well in defeat under both codes; bit to find on ratings however now upped in class. |

5th (4) (5/2 +38%) HMS Seahorse |
5/2(+38%) | (4) HMS Seahorse 5/2, Useful hurdler. Below form seventeenth of 30 in handicap at the Curragh (16.8f, heavy, 20/1) 25 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles and not ruled out. Ground should suit but not sure this longer trip will. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BEACON EDGE, a horse that finished fourth in a Stayers Hurdle just a couple of years ago, remains very much a force at this level. A former Grade 1 winner over fences, the nine-year-old makes his first start for trainer Gordon Elliott here. Last seen when finishing sixth under a big weight in a graded hurdle at the Punchestown festival, the Doyen gelding can make a winning reappearance. HMS Seahorse remains a horse with scope for further improvement over flights this season. Paul Nolan's five-year-old has a leading chance at these weights once taking his jockeys claim into account. Aspire Tower has a long absence to overcome but the Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding would take beating if anywhere near ready for this assignment.
BEACON EDGE holds the edge on form and is taken to make a winning start for Gordon Elliott after a lay-off at the chief expense of Willie Mullins's in-form veteran Cash Back. HMS Seahorse also can't be ruled out back in this sphere along with Gowran runner-up Walking On Glass.

POUR THE WINE can register a first career success having run a big race when third at Killarney last time. Peter Fahey's mare was having just her fourth start in handicap company, when beaten a length by a horse who had plenty in hand of the assessor. Gaining in experience with every run, the likeable seven-year-old holds leading claims under Eamonn Fitzgerald. Walk Out, who was just a place behind in fourth at the County Kerry track, should again be involved. The Walk In The Park mare is also awaiting her first success but has been placed on a few occasions. Lizrona, a winner here over fences, has to be a contender now that she reverts to hurdling off an 11lb lower mark. She also arrives here in form after a runner-up finish at Roscommon last month.
WALK OUT can race off the same mark as when a very good Killarney fourth so edges the vote in this competitive handicap. Course-winner No Fussing could emerge as the chief threat to John & Thomas Kiely's handily-weighted rival ahead of Goodie Girl, Pour The Wine and Lizrona.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
With those that have already raced appearing somewhat vulnerable, it could pay to take a chance on a debutant. The Willie Mullins-trained DOONWEST, a half-brother to two winners on the flat, is an obvious starting point. The six-year-old should stay this trip on breeding, so if doing so, he could have too much of a finishing kick for more stoutly bred opposition. The Enabler, a point-to-point runner-up at Curraghmore in April has to be considered on his racecourse debut. Having since been sold and sent to Gordon Elliott, the four-year-old is completely unexposed. Fad Eadrainn looks best of those with previous racecourse experience. Third on debut at Tipperary in May, the Patrick Foley-trained gelding filled the same position in a stronger race at Punchestown the following month.
THE ENABLER cost plenty after winning a point and, having joined a top yard, he's fancied to make a successful Rules debut for all that Doonwest makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. Can't Resist is the clear pick of those with bumper experience.
Ths is the racecard key.
