1st (3) (9/2 +18%) Lady Gwen |
9/2(+18%) | (3) Lady Gwen 9/2, Improved to make a winning reappearance for her new yard at Stratford (18.5f, good to soft) in July. Went close following a wind op at Worcester last month and subsequent fourth in a big-field Exeter handicap was respectable, so she's one to consider. Not proven on ground slower than good to soft but otherwise her claims are pretty solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (20/1 -150%) Johnny Boom |
20/1(-150%) | (7) Johnny Boom 20/1, Well held all 4 starts over hurdles for Brian Ellison, the latest of which was his handicap debut in this sphere back in March 2022. However, in good form on the AW laster winter and into the spring (won at Wolverhampton when last seen in April), and he's well worth a second look back hurdling. Four-time AW winner since latest hurdle run; big player if his improvement transfers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (22/1 -57%) Odin's Quest |
22/1(-57%) | (4) Odin's Quest 22/1, Bumper winner who built on earlier promise when landing weak Wincanton maiden hurdle in April. However, pulled up both subsequent starts, including on recent reappearance at Huntingdon, and he now has a point to prove. Pulled up in both handicaps since Wincanton maiden win in April; others are less risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (11/2 -57%) Stiletto |
11/2(-57%) | (9) Stiletto 11/2, Still a maiden under both codes, but he has gone agonisingly close in handicap hurdles at Fontwell (3¼m, good) and Wincanton (24.7f, soft) the last twice. Now tried in blinkers and the big question is whether this significant drop back in trip will work in his favour or not. Close second twice last month (3m2f/3m); sharply back in trip with new headgear tried here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (10/3 +67%) Merry Monty |
10/3(+67%) | (13) Merry Monty 10/3, Modest form in bumpers/novice hurdles in 2021/2, but he didn't shape at all badly when fifth in an 18-runner race at Exeter last month. Possibilities here if able to build on that. Ran big race from the front when fifth of 18 on recent handicap debut at Exeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/2 +40%) Sassified |
7/2(+40%) | (6) Sassified 7/2, Notched third success of the year when readily seeing off 11 rivals at Fontwell (19f, good) last month. Slow ground probably wasn't ideal at Exeter last time and, with conditions likely to be more suitable here, he has to enter calculations. Below form last month but is a triple winner this season and could still be on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (150/1 -355%) Boudica Warrior |
150/1(-355%) | (14) Boudica Warrior 150/1, Fair maiden on Flat, but she'll need to step considerably on what she's shown over hurdles thus far in order to play a part in the finish. Not disgraced in two 3yo hurdles last summer but makes limited appeal here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (22/1 +0%) Borderline |
22/1(+0%) | (2) Borderline 22/1, Placed twice from 3 starts in bumpers (fair form) and left previous efforts over hurdles behind when fourth at Newton Abbot in August. However, he failed to build on that pitched into a handicap for the first time at Warwick a month later. Safely held on handicap debut in August and forecast rain is a worry here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (100/1 -456%) Zuraig |
100/1(-456%) | (8) Zuraig 100/1, Winner of a Leicester seller on the Flat in May, but has otherwise struggled on the level this year and he hasn't cut much ice in 5 previous starts over hurdles. Won Flat seller in May but safely held when back over hurdles the following month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (7/2 +22%) Uncle Arthur |
7/2(+22%) | (10) Uncle Arthur 7/2, Modest form over hurdles for Nigel Twiston-Davies and got no further than the first fence on return/chase debut for new yard at Bangor. However. he shaped with more encouragement returned to this sphere at Chepstow (2m, soft) recently and could have a part to play here. Caught the eye making smooth headway from the rear on latest outing; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (50/1 -150%) Lightning Attack |
50/1(-150%) | (12) Lightning Attack 50/1, Won pair of Market Rasen handicap hurdles for Ben Haslam during the first half of last year, but there have not been many positives to glean from his efforts since joining this yard. Down the field on all three Flat starts this year, the latest in June; has a lot to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (33/1 -83%) Platinumcard |
33/1(-83%) | (5) Platinumcard 33/1, Well-handicapped judged on peak form in Ireland for Gordon Elliott, but he hasn't shown much at all in 5 starts since joining present yard. Hopes here very much pinned on the first-time blinkers sparking a revival. Has a lot to prove but combination of better ground and first-time blinkers offers hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (80/1 -471%) Tiger Voice |
80/1(-471%) | (1) Tiger Voice 80/1, Winning hurdler/chaser for Henry de Bromhead in Ireland and while he made a very low-key start for present yard last season, there were green shoots of recovery when fifth in an 8-runner Ffos Las handicap (15.8f, good to firm) in May. Down another 4 lb and he's one to keep an eye on. Formerly useful in Ireland; very disappointing in Britain in first half of this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (50/1 -100%) Triple Nickle |
50/1(-100%) | (11) Triple Nickle 50/1, Fair dual-purpose performer on her day, but she safely held back from almost 13 months off on the Flat at Windsor last month. Well handicapped on old form; well beaten on the Flat last month after a long layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (15) (25/1 +62%) Harde Fashion |
25/1(+62%) | (15) Harde Fashion 25/1, Went close on hurdles debut starting out for present yard at Stratford in October 2021, but he's otherwise offered little. Went close on stable/hurdle debut in 2021 but generally very disappointing since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
With precious little recent winning form on offer, it may pay to side with SASSIFIED, a winner at Fontwell in October but not at his best last time out when only seventh at Exeter. Elizabeth Gales claims 10lb off his back here which can only help and, as he seems fairly straightforward, the pair could come home in front. The booking of Freddie Gingell to ride Lightning Attack catches the eye and he could go well fresh off a mark just 4lb higher than his last success, while the consistent Lady Gwen may prove best of the rest.
It's worth giving another chance to UNCLE ARTHUR, who wasn't entirely disgraced at Chepstow last time and he will have every chance in this company if on-song. Sassified's claims will be enhanced should the rain stay away and he is next on the list ahead of Merry Monty. Stiletto thoroughly deserves to get his head in front and can be expected to do just that before long, but this significant drop back in trip may not be ideal.
This might go to UNCLE ARTHUR, who didn't have the race run to suit at Chepstow last month but travelled strongly for a long way.

1st (1) (4/11 +28%) Matterhorn |
4/11(+28%) | (1) Matterhorn 4/11, Opened account over hurdles in impressive fashion at this course (19f) in March and improved on that when close second in Huntingdon novice (15.8f, good to soft) the following month. Had wind operation since. The one to beat. 2m3f course winner; returns fresh and after wind surgery; player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/2 +50%) Titan Discovery |
11/2(+50%) | (5) Titan Discovery 11/2, Brother to useful dual-bumper winner and showed a fair level of ability in that sphere when runner-up at Newbury and Stratford last term. Shaped quite promisingly when fourth of 11 in novice at Carlisle (17.2f, soft, 4/1) on hurdles bow last month and is open to improvement in this sphere. Should come on for his reappearance and no surprise if he is more closely involved.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/3 +5%) Zonda |
10/3(+5%) | (7) Zonda 10/3, Boasts an appealing pedigree and made a promising start over hurdles when third of 12 in novice at Chepstow (16f, soft) 34 days ago. Ought to have learnt plenty from that experience. Jumping let him down on debut; if that has been ironed out, he should be a contender.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (250/1 -150%) Captain Marco |
250/1(-150%) | (2) Captain Marco 250/1, Sent off big odds and never landed a blow in novice hurdle at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) on NH debut 18 days ago. 100-1 for debut at Wincanton last month, when never able to get in a serious blow.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (50/1 -100%) Sammy's Guarantee |
50/1(-100%) | (11) Sammy's Guarantee 50/1, Runner-up sole outing in point bumpers and shaped better than distance beaten suggests when midfield in 16-runner mares' novice hurdle at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) 21 days ago. Tongue tie now applied and this should reveal more. Beaten 37l in a Ludlow mares' novice hurdle; tongue-tie goes on; much more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (250/1 -279%) Basman Palace |
250/1(-279%) | (8) Basman Palace 250/1, Offered something to work on when fifth in bumper at Newton Abbot in July but rather gone backwards since and is likely best watched on hurdles bow. Went backwards in three starts in bumpers; can only watch on this hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (40/1 +20%) Fortuitous Favour |
40/1(+20%) | (9) Fortuitous Favour 40/1, Won a Wetherby bumper on NH debut back in December 2021 but clearly had her issues since and finished well beaten on second start over hurdles at Plumpton recently. Below par on her return to action at Plumpton (2m, good to soft) recently; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (100/1 +50%) Hobbs Joy |
100/1(+50%) | (3) Hobbs Joy 100/1, Stepped up on previous form when fair third of 5 in bumper at Catterick 12 months ago, but has offered little in either start over timber. Made steady progress in bumpers; well beaten on both starts over hurdles, at up to 2m4f.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (10) (125/1 -213%) Jukebox Annie |
125/1(-213%) | (10) Jukebox Annie 125/1, Landed a 3-runner bumper at Newton Abbot in September but failed to repeat that effort in a more competitive event at Hereford last month and makes limited appeal on switch to hurdling. Won a three-runner bumper; needs significant improvement to figure on hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (300/1 -50%) Yogi's Trail |
300/1(-50%) | (6) Yogi's Trail 300/1, Has looked of little account in a bumper and brace of hurdle outings this year. Three low-key efforts thus far. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Zonda showed plenty of promise when finishing third at Chepstow on his debut, despite some sketchy jumping, and if he learns from that, he may be a force to be reckoned with here. However, MATTERHORN has to give 7lb or more to all his rivals after winning over further here in March, which he followed with a Huntingdon second, but if he's ready to go after wind surgery, he may prove too classy for these opponents. Bumper winner Jukebox Annie is an interesting alternative on her hurdles debut, as is the consistent Titan Discovery, and they may challenge for the places.
Course-winner MATTERHORN sets the bar pretty high here and can make a winning return. Zonda is feared most after his encouraging Chepstow debut last month, whilst Titan Discovery and hurdling-debutant Tiny Tetley also enter calculations.
If his jumping issues have been ironed out, ZONDA could prove to be much better than on his Chepstow introduction. He gets the vote.

1st (4) (11/10 -10%) Panjari |
11/10(-10%) | (4) Panjari 11/10, Useful on Flat (stays 1½m) in Germany and stepped up significantly on hurdling debut form in first-time hood when second in 15-runner novice at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) 18 days ago. Sets the standard and capable of better still. Better effort when taken down early and hooded at Wincanton latest; should be thereabouts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 -38%) Breaking Cover |
11/2(-38%) | (1) Breaking Cover 11/2, £95,000 buy after finishing runner-up on his completed start in Irish points. Never involved in an Ascot bumper on Rules debut but shaped with some encouragement fitted with a tongue strap sent hurdling when third in a Plumpton maiden in April. Open to improvement. Creditable third on hurdles debut; should do better over further but may still have a say.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/8 +1%) Diesel Line |
13/8(+1%) | (2) Diesel Line 13/8, Malinas gelding who attracted support and made a winning debut in good style in 9-runner bumper at Exeter (16.7f) in February. That form could have worked out better, but he still rates a good hurdle prospect. Has had a breathing operation. Has had wind surgery since debut bumper win and looks one to note on his hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (100/1 -100%) Opticality |
100/1(-100%) | (10) Opticality 100/1, Modest performer on Flat who showed little both starts over hurdles last season. Will be of more interest in low-grade handicaps after this. Needs to show much more than on her two previous hurdles starts to get involved here.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (7/1 +36%) Plaisir Des Flos |
7/1(+36%) | (5) Plaisir Des Flos 7/1, Showed only modest form in bumpers for Thomas Gallagher but has joined a top yard ahead of hurdle debut. Makes his debut for a trainer who has been among the winners in recent days; market check.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (250/1 -279%) West Hill Shadow |
250/1(-279%) | (7) West Hill Shadow 250/1, Looked badly in need of the experience when well held in a Hereford bumper on debut last month, refusing to settle. 66-1 for debut in a Hereford bumper (good), when he was always in rear.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (80/1 +20%) Grandmaster Flash |
80/1(+20%) | (3) Grandmaster Flash 80/1, Fairly useful stayer on the Flat who wasn't subjected to a hard race when a well-held fifth on his recent Hereford hurdle debut. Probably one for handicaps later on. 100-1 and beaten 35l on his hurdles debut at Hereford (2m, good) recently.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

250/1(-150%) | (6) Ruith Le Tu 250/1, Fair handicapper on Flat but became increasingly temperamental in that sphere and has shown nothing in a brace of maiden hurdles. Dual AW winner; big prices and well beaten in two hurdles starts for this trainer.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Trainer Paul Nicholls will be hoping that Panjari can go one better after his close-up second at Wincanton last month, and he looks a very serious rival to the returning DIESEL LINE. A once-raced son of Malinas who won his bumper very impressively at Exeter, he has had wind surgery ahead of his hurdling bow but he looked an exciting recruit and may go on from here to better things. Breaking Cover looks best of the rest judged on his Plumpton third, while Plaisir Des Flos could surprise a few on his first start for Fergal O'Brien.
PANJARI stepped up appreciably on his hurdling debut form when runner-up at Wincanton 18 days ago and is the obvious choice to go one better with further improvement on the cards. Diesel Line created a good impression when landing a bumper at Exeter on his debut back in April and rates the main threat, ahead of Breaking Cover.
The vote goes to DIESEL LINE, whose debut bumper win suggests he can follow up. Panjari is feared most.

Issar d'Airy |
(3) (11/1 -10%)11/1(-10%) | (3) Issar d'Airy 11/1, Improved model switched to handicap hurdles, overcoming a couple of untidy jumps when doubling his tally at Huntingdon in April. Ran well there when last seen 6 months ago, so definite player if taking to fences. 2lb worse off than when beaten under 1l by Surtitle in May; chase debut; not ruled out.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (5/2 +38%) Heros |
5/2(+38%) | (7) Heros 5/2, Bumper/hurdles winner in France in 2021. Bit disappointing over hurdles last season but swtiches to chasing with his stable in red-hot form and his mark looks appealing. French bumper and 2m2f hurdle winner; may do better now chasing for in-form yard.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (9/2 -29%) Non Stop |
9/2(-29%) | (9) Non Stop 9/2, Fair Flat winner at 1m who also scored twice at 2m over hurdles last season. Plenty of encouragement when fifth of 7 at Kempton on chasing debut recently and expected to improve. May have needed the run after a break on his chase debut at Kempton (2m2f, good) latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (14/1 -87%) Dr T J Eckleburg |
14/1(-87%) | (5) Dr T J Eckleburg 14/1, Best effort over fences when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Worcester (16.5f, soft, 7/1) 48 days ago. Remains well treated on the pick of his hurdling efforts, so should go well again. 1lb rise gives him a chance of a follow-up win, if seeing out this longer trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (8/1 +11%) Kingofthewest |
8/1(+11%) | (6) Kingofthewest 8/1, Dual hurdles winner who, having dropped in the weights, looked back in form when third at this course 6 months ago. Step back up in trip will suit, so could get involved if he takes to chasing. Dual hurdle winner at up to 2m3f; drops 2lb for this chase debut; not written off.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (15/2 +38%) Fame And Fun |
15/2(+38%) | (8) Fame And Fun 15/2, Dual 19f hurdles scorer last season who signed off with a solid fifth of 13 in handicap at Taunton (19f, soft) in April. Pulled up on chasing debut at Kempton last month, however. Didn't jump well on chase debut at Kempton last month; bit to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (5/1 +58%) The Plimsoll Line |
5/1(+58%) | (4) The Plimsoll Line 5/1, 2m maiden winner who ran well when runner-up at Newton Abbot (18.5f) in May. Bit disappointing since but should strip fitter for latest outing at Wincanton. Has his first go at chasing. Well treated on chase debut, based on his best effort over hurdles; drop in trip positive.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (13/2 -18%) Keep Running |
13/2(-18%) | (1) Keep Running 13/2, French import who scored at Bangor for Harry Whittington last season. More miss than hit subsequently but worthy of a market switched to chasing by new stable on return. Useful form over hurdles and a probable player on his chase/stable debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (15/2 -50%) Surtitle |
15/2(-50%) | (2) Surtitle 15/2, Fair winning handicap hurdler who shaped as if better for the run when third of 6 at Exeter 23 days ago, Should step forward on that and is likely to feature. Dual hurdles winner at up to 2m3f; got tired on last month's chasing debut after a break.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DR T J ECKLEBURG was able to put it all together when winning at Worcester in September and Evan Williams' gelding is fancied to double his tally from just a 1lb higher mark. The booking of Harry Cobden aboard Keep Running catches the eye and he could be a factor on this seasonal return, while Surtitle, who shaped with promise on his chasing bow last month, is also noted.
NON STOP has the physique to make a better chaser than hurdler and he's likely to come on for his recent chasing debut at Kempton, so he gets the nod over last-time-out winner Dr T J Eckleburg. Heros deserves a mention reappearing for a stable that is flying.
With a recent positive chasing introduction under his belt and the potential for improvement, SURTITLE is preferred.

GEEZER ROCKSTAR comfortably defeated a subsequent hurdles winner on his sole bumper start in April and Harry Fry's four-year-old might be one to look out for during the upcoming jumps season. He can repel the likely challenge of Tinklers Hill, who bumped into a progressive type at Exeter when last seen. Sun Joy posted a series of creditable efforts when trained in France and he is worth a market check ahead of his stable debut.
Ben Pauling's French recruit SUN JOY has already shown some fairly useful form in this sphere so is fancied to put that experience to good use and fend off newcomers Tinklers Hill and Geezer Rockstar, who are both in good hands and bring plenty of potential in an intriguing maiden hurdle.
Top of the list is Harry Fry's GEEZER ROCKSTAR, who forged clear in a bumper here in April and could have a bright future over hurdles.

1st (11) (11/2 +27%) Justshortofabubble |
11/2(+27%) | (11) Justshortofabubble 11/2, Reliable chaser who returned to winning ways with plenty to spare at Bangor (3m) in October. Following a 6 lb rise in the weights, continued in good heart when fourth at Stratford (22.6f) 2 weeks ago and he can give his running once again. Won at Bangor (3m, soft) last month but was vulnerable in his follow-up bid at Stratford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (22/1 -38%) Dindin |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Dindin 22/1, Successful at Worcester (23f) in June but has proved inconsistent since, running well when second at Bangor (3m) on his penultimate outing before a lesser effort at Ludlow (20f) 3 weeks ago. Capable if he's on a going day. Two chase wins this year but he's not easy to predict and comes with risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (16) (8/1 +27%) Time To Bite |
8/1(+27%) | (16) Time To Bite 8/1, Remains a maiden but has got back on track over fences since joining his current yard last season. After almost a year off, shaped as if as good as ever when third at Stratford (19.4f) last month and he could be thereabouts once more. Overall record of 0-32 but he's reached the frame in last five chase runs; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (14/1 +13%) Malinas Island |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Malinas Island 14/1, Improved model in handicap hurdles in 2021/22, recording victories at Lingfield (23f) and Wetherby (24.1f). Bred to make at least as good a chaser but has an absence of 20 months to overcome. Dual hurdle winner but he's been off for 604 days and looks opposable on his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (10/1 +0%) Cobra Commander |
10/1(+0%) | (12) Cobra Commander 10/1, Showed improved form when winning brace of handicap chases in April 2022 (at this C&D on the first occasion) but has drawn a blank since. After 5 months off, ran respectably when third of 6 at Hereford (25.2f) in October, but others make more appeal. Two chase wins in April 2022 but he hasn't matched that form since; needs to step up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (16/1 -45%) Delgany Monarch |
16/1(-45%) | (8) Delgany Monarch 16/1, In the frame on his first 3 starts over fences, before facing a simple task when getting off the mark in 3-runner handicap at Plumpton (25.7f) in April. Faces a tougher task as he makes his return from 7 months off. Easy win over 3m1f in final run last term; big player if he can pick up where he left off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (6/1 -50%) Getthepot |
6/1(-50%) | (10) Getthepot 6/1, Successful twice in handicap chases at Huntingdon in 2022 but struggled for form to start off the current season, including over hurdles. However, returned to chasing he took a step back in the right direction when runner-up at Exeter (19.2f) last month. Respected. Runner-up back over fences at Exeter and has possibilities on this step back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (6/1 +63%) Seymour Promise |
6/1(+63%) | (15) Seymour Promise 6/1, Remains a maiden but showed more than previously over fences when second in 4-runner handicap at Newton Abbot (25.8f) in June, though tended to jump left. However, pulled up next time and ran poorly back over hurdles when last seen in August (has had a wind op). 16-race maiden and he needs to get back on track after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (16/1 +20%) Barrowmount |
16/1(+20%) | (14) Barrowmount 16/1, Sole win came in Stratford maiden hurdle (22f) on his hurdling debut in May 2021. Having fallen a long way in the weights, some encouragement after 5 months off when sixth back at Stratford last time, but has work to do making only his third chase start. Struggled in both previous runs over fences and sole hurdle win was in May 2021; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (8/1 +6%) Lock Out |
8/1(+6%) | (3) Lock Out 8/1, Point winner who also won bumper/novice hurdle on his first 2 starts under Rules. Didn't kick on after and, following 9 months off (had wind op) finished only fifth in handicap chase at Wincanton 18 days ago. However, he's entitled to progress from his recent run. Unexposed chaser but he's not progressed under rules and needs more at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (33/1 -32%) Dreamsundermyfeet |
33/1(-32%) | (4) Dreamsundermyfeet 33/1, Dual chase winner in 2021/22 but wasn't able to match that level in a winless campaign last season. Finished well held on his return from 5 months off at Worcester in September, so others more persuasive despite his falling mark. On dangerous mark but he's been out of sorts in last two runs and needs a major revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (5/1 +50%) Catuaba |
5/1(+50%) | (9) Catuaba 5/1, Made a winning handicap debut over hurdles at Warwick (25f) in May and stepped up on his recent run when third at Huntingdon (25f) 17 days ago. Winner of his sole outing in Irish points so he could have more to offer on his first chase start. Held in his last two runs over hurdles and he needs to find more on this switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (20/1 -100%) Midnight Glance |
20/1(-100%) | (1) Midnight Glance 20/1, Opened account over fences in handicap at Exeter (24.2f) a year ago but has gone the wrong way since, back over hurdles on his first 2 starts this season before pulled up in chase at Huntingdon last time. Has enough to prove at present. Won at Exeter last November but he's lost his way since and needs a major turnaround. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -133%) William Philo |
28/1(-133%) | (6) William Philo 28/1, Fared better than previously over fences when third at Chepstow (23.6f) in March and, in first-time blinkers, backed up that effort when winning at Fontwell (26f) the following month. Headgear left off as he makes first run for yard after leaving Robert Walford. Won at Fontwell in April, despite jumping left throughout; up 2lb on his stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
My Bad Lucy was all out to score by a neck in a bunch finish at Warwick in April and he should go well off a 2lb higher rating on his return to the fray. However, the vote goes to GETTHEPOT, who shaped as if a step back up to this distance would suit when staying on strongly to grab second at Exeter last month and he has been left on the same mark. The son of Getaway remains 5lb below his last winning rating and can record his fourth career success. Time To Bite and Delgany Monarch are others to consider.
MEECHLANDS MAGIC showed improved form on his second start over fences when getting off the mark at Worcester in October, but didn't get a chance to build on that effort when unseating early next time. He is taken to resume winning ways, though Getthepot took a step back in the right direction last time and is feared most, with Time To Bite and My Bad Lucy also considered.
An open race in which Debra Hamer's unexposed chaser MEECHLANDS MAGIC gets the vote ahead of Delgany Monarch and My Bad Lucy.

1st (9) (4/1 -14%) Isabella Bee |
4/1(-14%) | (9) Isabella Bee 4/1, Improved for her leading yard since switched to handicaps, narrowly denied at Newton Abbot before scoring twice in quick succession at Uttoxeter last month. Should go well stepping up in trip for hat-trick bid. Won twice in six days at Uttoxeter (2m) and is likely to be suited by this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (13/2 -44%) Jaminska |
13/2(-44%) | (8) Jaminska 13/2, Built on her debut promise when landing 2m C&D juvenile (heavy) in January. Not seen since but she appeals as one who should have more to offer in handicaps. Clear winner of Hereford fillies' race in January; must be considered on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (17/2 +58%) No No Tonic |
17/2(+58%) | (3) No No Tonic 17/2, Dual winner at Wincanton last term but ended the season out of sorts and hasn't particularly sparkled in a pair of starts this term. Slipping back down the weights but others are more persuasive. Well handicapped on her two eased-down wins in late 2022; needs to better recent efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (8/1 +27%) Our Nel |
8/1(+27%) | (11) Our Nel 8/1, Fair form shown in bumpers and when placed in maiden hurdles at Worcester and Market Rasen. Could do with settling better but still in the picture now going handicapping. Made the frame over 2m on first two hurdling starts; open to improvement in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (11/2 +61%) Come On Du Berlais |
11/2(+61%) | (10) Come On Du Berlais 11/2, Bumper winner for Gordon Elliott has made the placings on all 5 starts for current connections (formerly in partnership with Fergal O'Brien), including on handicap debut at Hereford last month. Enters calculations. Ran well on last month's handicap debut but now 0-8 over hurdles; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/1 -78%) Pure Theatre |
16/1(-78%) | (4) Pure Theatre 16/1, Off mark at Exeter in April before doubling her tally at Fontwell in May. Perhaps feeling the effects of busy spell when only third in 4-runner event at Worceser (20f, good, 7/2) 166 days ago. Worth market check on return. Dual winner in the spring, latterly on handicap debut; not yet fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (22/1 -57%) Heure De Gloire |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Heure De Gloire 22/1, Justified support to land 2m handicap hurdle at Leicester in February but wasn't in same form at Fontwell on final outing last season. Needs a couple of these to falter after 8 months off. Won off reduced mark in February but absent since lesser effort the following month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (3/1 +40%) Obsessedwithyou |
3/1(+40%) | (6) Obsessedwithyou 3/1, Won junior events at Wetherby and Hereford last time and again ran well when fourth on handicap debut at Cheltenham (16.8f, good) in April. This is tougher but she holds place claims on return. Creditable fourth in valuable fillies' handicap at Cheltenham in April; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (16/1 -100%) Parikarma |
16/1(-100%) | (1) Parikarma 16/1, Three-time winner on Flat who got off the mark over timber over 2m here on second hurdles outing. Took a step forward when runner-up here in April and she's respected now handicapping with recent Flat run under her belt. Took pretty well to hurdling last season and won a 2m novice here; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (28/1 -100%) Weseekherthere |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Weseekherthere 28/1, Back on the up when winning novice event at Bellewstown (20.4f, good) in August. Dismal effort switched to a handicap last time, though, and is best watched having since left Gordon Elliott. Bumper/maiden hurdle winner in Ireland this season; makes stable debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (11/1 +39%) Atjima |
11/1(+39%) | (12) Atjima 11/1, Bumper winner who opened her account over hurdles in 2½m Ffos Las handicap in March. Not completely disgraced both runs after at Taunton and Ludlow but she still seems a touch tricky to catch right and others make more appeal. Improved to cause 20-1 surprise in March; ended last season with two lesser efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (50/1 -52%) Chinook |
50/1(-52%) | (13) Chinook 50/1, Ex-Irish mare ran well on second start for this stable when fifth at Ludlow (21.2f, good to soft) in April. Faller at Ffos as last time but isn't completely discounted on return from summer break. Ran quite well when fifth at Ludlow in April but not seen since a fall the following month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (66/1 +0%) Miss Harriett |
66/1(+0%) | (15) Miss Harriett 66/1, Nineteen-race maiden under RUles but held been holding her form well enough at a low level when last seen in spring 2022. Out of handicap and has lengthy absence to overcome here, though. Good second of 18 in April 2022 but not seen again since and 12lb wrong here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (200/1 -100%) Dolly Bird |
200/1(-100%) | (16) Dolly Bird 200/1, No promise in a bumper and 3 starts over hurdles to date. Well out of the weights for this handicap debut. Showed no promise in three 2m maiden/novice hurdles last season; 21lb wrong here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ISABELLA BEE justified her very short odds to complete a double at Uttoxeter in September and she is now asked to compete off a 7lb higher mark. The daughter of Westerner could continue her improvement today and she looks the one to beat. Sinndarella was victorious by a length over 2m6f at Cartmel in August and could have a say off a 4lb higher rating, while Obsessedwithyou would be foolish to dismiss after her good fourth in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham when last seen in April.
A competitive mares handicap in which JAMINSKA is fancied to make a successful transition to handicap company after a trio of encouraging runs last season. Isabella Bee has the benefit of race fitness on her side and looks a major threat in bidding for the hat-trick, with Come On du Berlais, Our Nel and Parikarma others to consider.
Preference is for handicap debutante JAMINSKA (nap), who was 5l too good for second choice Obsessedwithyou at Hereford in January.
Ths is the racecard key.
