1st (3) ![]() Holeshot |
5/2(+69%) | (3) Holeshot 5/2, Winless following 5 runs between the flags but has made the frame on 2 of his 3 starts under Rules and latest handicap debut fifth at Lingfield (2m, soft) was no backward step. Now 2 lb lower and this stiffer test could be right up his street. Respectable fifth over 2m on handicap debut and ought to be suited by today's longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Don't Tell Rosie |
4/1(+38%) | (4) Don't Tell Rosie 4/1, Shaped as though starting to get the hang of things when fourth in an 11-runner Taunton novice (16.5f, soft) a fortnight ago. Wasn't knocked about that day and she appeals as the type to raise her game now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Fair fourth in recent 2m novice here but her tendency to race too freely is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Mahler Moon |
8/1(-78%) | (1) Mahler Moon 8/1, Placed on couple of occasions over hurdles for Dan Skelton and encouraging start on chase debut for new yard when third at Southwell (20.4f, good) in October. Jumping proved his downfall when well held next time (since undergone another round of wind surgery) but one to consider back hurdling. Reverts to hurdling after disappointing chase run and a wind op; on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Ask Me Another |
13/8(-30%) | (2) Ask Me Another 13/8, Improved when opening her account in 8-runner juvenile hurdle at Hereford (16.2f, soft) last spring. Solid second on return/handicap debut upped to 20.7f at Huntingdon where she pulled well clear of the third. Open to improvement. Runner-up on last month's seasonal/handicap debut and should have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Yorgunnabeplucky |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Yorgunnabeplucky 18/1, Placed on second of 2 starts in Irish points but never dangerous in a bumper and it's all been pretty low-key over hurdles so far. Big step forward needed now pitched into a handicap with cheekpieces enlisted. Did not show much in three 2m novice/maiden hurdles but might improve now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Stage Show |
10/1(+60%) | (8) Stage Show 10/1, Fair maiden on the Flat and more like it over hurdles with a brace of fourth-place finishes in handicaps around 17f in the autumn. However, form has subsequently dipped and needs to get back on track now fitted with a first-time tongue strap. Tailed off twice last month; looks risky but drying ground and/or tongue-tie may help him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Lady Showtime |
18/1(-100%) | (5) Lady Showtime 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden who wasn't discredited when fourth of 10 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) when last seen in July. Moving back up in trip for this handicap debut may well work in her favour but others are preferred all the same. Made frame in two maidens last summer (2m3f/2m); has fitness to prove on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Torre Del Oro |
20/1(-100%) | (6) Torre Del Oro 20/1, Formerly fairly useful at up to 1½m for Andrew Balding on the Flat but will need to leave form of his 3 previous runs over hurdles a long way behind if he's to make an impact now handicapping. Useful at his best on the Flat; made quiet start to hurdling career but remains unexposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ASK ME ANOTHER finished 17 lengths clear of the third when filling the runner-up spot on her seasonal return at Huntingdon last month and only has a 1lb higher mark to contend with today. Robbie Llewellyn's five-year-old might only need to reproduce that effort in order to go one better. Don't Tell Rosie showed more when fourth over an extended 2m here on her latest outing and she could prove a different proposition now that she tackles the handicap ranks. Of the remainder, Lady Showtime makes the most appeal.
The two 5-y-o mares, ASK ME ANOTHER and Don't Tell Rosie, appear to possess the greatest potential and could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter appears to have been gradually brought along with handicaps very much in mind and she is of strong interest now pitched into one off what looks a fair opening mark. However, she may find Ask Me Another too hot to handle following that rival's good reappearance/handicap debut second at Huntingdon. Holeshot is best of the rest.
The most obvious answer is ASK ME ANOTHER, who was placed on last month's seasonal/handicap debut and probably still has potential.

1st (1) ![]() Cornish Storm |
5/6(+39%) | (1) Cornish Storm 5/6, Fair Flat winner who displayed fair form when runner-up on 2 of his 3 starts in maiden hurdles last term, latterly over C&D this time last year. Posted a solid effort after 11 months off when third in a Kempton handicap (12f) 20 days ago and respected back in this sphere. Second in this race a year ago and returned from layoff with good Flat run last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Blacksamssenorita |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Blacksamssenorita 10/3, Promise on first of 3 starts in bumpers but produced a novicey display of jumping when third of 5 in a mares' novice hurdle at Exeter (18.5f) in November. That experience ought not to have been wasted on her and respected for all longer trips may suit ideally in time. Displayed ability in all three bumpers and when third on hurdle debut; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Public Enemy |
13/2(-44%) | (9) Public Enemy 13/2, Magna Grecia gelding who is closely related to several smart performers on the Flat. Displayed fairly useful form himself, best effort when third once from 3 starts in maidens on Flat in France. Acquired for €32,000 in November and one to note now hurdling for stable in good form. Placed in 1m6f Flat maiden in France in October; makes stable/hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Desert Halo |
6/1(+8%) | (2) Desert Halo 6/1, Some promise in trio of bumper outings and stepped up plenty on his hurdles debut effort when second of 9 in novice at Lingfield (2m) in November. Subsequent efforts at Haydock/Uttoxeter have been well below that level however, so bounce back required. 80-1 second at Lingfield in November but soundly beaten on other three hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) ![]() Organic |
33/1(-106%) | (12) Organic 33/1, Three-time winner on the Flat at up to 1¼m for George Boughey in 2024. Changed hands for 32,000 gns in October and showed aptitude for hurdling before conditions possibly found her out when seventh of 11 in C&D mares' novice (soft) 14 days ago. May do better further down the line. Three-time Flat winner in 2024 but made low-key stable/hurdle debut over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Whatmakes Honey B |
100/1(-203%) | (6) Whatmakes Honey B 100/1, Winless following 8 attempts in maiden points and longer-term project judged on her exploits in bumper/pair of hurdle runs to date. Respectable fifth over C&D two weeks ago but needs another big step forward today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() I Like Ike |
16/1(+0%) | (3) I Like Ike 16/1, Jack Hobbs gelding. Dam, ran once in bumper, closely related to very smart hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3m) Sam Spinner. One to note in the betting on debut for clues. First foal from point-winning close relative of high-class staying hurdler Sam Spinner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Bradman |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Bradman 200/1, Dual winner of 1½m AW handicaps on the Flat for Charlie Fellowes last winter but no short-term promise to glean from 2 hurdle runs for new stable in recent months. Dual AW winner in January 2024 but has not shown a great deal on first two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) ![]() Flash In The Pan |
50/1(-150%) | (8) Flash In The Pan 50/1, Bred for the Flat and finished well held in heavy ground bumper/junior hurdle on first 2 starts under Rules last month. Better effort away from the mud when fifth of 10 in juvenile hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f, soft) 13 days ago but handicaps will be more suitable after this. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Not disgraced against own age-group this month but significant improvement is needed here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Blacksamssenorita failed to justify favouritism when only finishing third at Exeter in November, but she might be worth another chance on only her second start over hurdles. However, the vote goes to CORNISH STORM, who split a pair of subsequent winners when hitting the woodwork over C&D in February last year. The six-year-old had a recent spin on the Flat to blow the cobwebs away, finishing third at Kempton, and looks primed to strike. Public Enemy rates best of the remainder.
CORNISH STORM made a good return on the level recently and can go one better than last year when he was second in this. Blacksamssenorita is feared most ahead of Public Enemy starting out for Anthony Honeyball.
Last year's runner-up CORNISH STORM returned from a layoff with a pleasing Flat run and he is preferred now back hurdling.

1st (5) ![]() Duffry Trixs |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Duffry Trixs 10/1, Runner-up only outing in Irish points (Jan 2024) and readily surpassed form showed only start in bumpers when second in 6-runner Plumpton maiden (20.5f) 3 weeks ago, held only late on. A repeat gives him good claims of being involved again. Low-key bumper run on British debut but much better when 2nd on hurdle debut; can improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Devon Dude |
11/2(+61%) | (4) Devon Dude 11/2, Dartmouth gelding who is bred to stay well but displayed enough speed to win 4-runner bumper at Chepstow (16f, heavy) last March. Promise on first 2 starts over hurdles prior to finishing down the field on handicap debut at Windsor (20f) 4 weeks ago. More required back in maiden company. Bumper winner; hurdle promise but well held on handicap debut; has doubts back in a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() The Final Word |
1/1(+60%) | (8) The Final Word 1/1, Successful only start in Irish points and offered much more than he had in a bumper in the autumn when third in a 13-runner C&D novice 6 weeks ago, for largely hands-and-heels ride. Open to improvement with a tongue tie now reached for. Irish point winner; showed plenty when third on C&D hurdle debut; looks promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Fortunate Fella |
40/1(-150%) | (6) Fortunate Fella 40/1, Placed all 3 starts in Irish points and having hinted at promise when fifth on hurdles bow at Hereford (19.7f) in December, he wasn't in the same form when fifth of 10 in a C&D novice 2 weeks ago. Would be an interesting one in handicaps on the back of this. Placed in 3 Irish points; just fair form in 3 hurdles; yard second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() A Great Excuse |
66/1(-100%) | (1) A Great Excuse 66/1, Failed to complete all 4 starts in points but some promise under Rules, stepping forward from hurdles debut run when seventh in 14-runner Wetherby maiden (19.7f) 17 days ago. Will have handicaps as an option after this and they ought to suit better. Triple-figure prices and no impact in two hurdles; does have ability but handicaps soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Maximum Offers |
9/2(-80%) | (7) Maximum Offers 9/2, £105,000 4-y-o, Getaway gelding. Runner-up only outing in Irish points (Nov 2023) and solid start under Rules when third in a Carlisle bumper (17f, soft) in December. Of interest now hurdling, particularly if the market spoke favourably for him again. Just lost out to useful one in Irish point; better for bumper debut; interesting prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Catch On Me |
8/1(-140%) | (3) Catch On Me 8/1, 5-y-o who won 13.5f minor event on Flat in France last May and stepped up on hurdles debut effort when third of 12 in 4-y-o event at Auteuil (17.4f) in September, staying on from the rear. New yard do well with such recruits and he's very much of interest with further progress likely. Won 1m5f AQPS event in France; hurdle form worked out well; sold 120,000euros; new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Tongaknoxie |
28/1(-100%) | (9) Tongaknoxie 28/1, Casamento gelding. Midfield only start in bumpers at Chepstow in November and looked one for later on when fourth of 10 in novice hurdle (10/3) at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 69 days ago. Some promise on bumper debut; not get near enough to winner on hurdle debut to fancy today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Bells Of Ufford |
33/1(+0%) | (2) Bells Of Ufford 33/1, Modest form on second of 2 starts in bumpers and ran to a similar level both hurdle outings, shaping like a non-stayer when ninth of 14 in maiden at Wetherby (19.7f) 17 days ago. Another who will be better suited by handicaps. Won point bumper; hasn't done badly in two hurdles this winter but needs to step up plenty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) ![]() Briery Bee |
28/1(-75%) | (11) Briery Bee 28/1, Made the frame both starts in bumpers and not without promise in pair of mares' novice hurdles upon returning this season. Still, handicaps will likely suit her better on the back of this. Respectable efforts in bumpers and first 2 hurdles; handicaps will offer more scope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) ![]() Auntie Maggie |
66/1(-267%) | (10) Auntie Maggie 66/1, Third on sole start in Irish points and showed some promise when third on second start in maiden hurdles at Bangor (16.6f) in May. Not yet built on that in 2 handicap runs upon returning this winter and she's hard to fancy back in maiden company. Weak finisher at about this trip in handicaps and has a lot of work to do back in a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) ![]() Mistletoe |
200/1(-300%) | (12) Mistletoe 200/1, Linda's Lad mare. Dam winning pointer. Won sole start in point bumpers but sent off at long odds and offered little when sixth of 7 in bumper at Exeter (16.7f, heavy) on NH debut 36 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Won soft-ground point bumper in November; dropped right out on her hurdle debut at Exeter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DUFFRY TRIXS outran his odds of 66/1 when occupying the runner-up berth at Plumpton last month and he could improvement plenty for that introduction to hurdles. If the six-year-old can build on that performance, then he may be the one to beat. The Final Word showed promise when making the frame over C&D on his hurdles debut and could have a say, while Maximum Offers is another to consider after his third-placed effort at Carlisle.
Successful on his third start on the Flat in France, CATCH ON ME built on his hurdles debut run when a good third in a 4-y-o event at Auteuil last summer. Appealing as the type to do better still for his new yard, including now tackling this longer trip, he's selected to come out on top. That said, both The Final Word and Maximum Offers have reasons to recommend them, and are respected, as is Duffry Trix.
Catch On Me should be watched in the market but THE FINAL WORD put up a good show here on his hurdle debut and has clear potential.

1st (6) ![]() Camulus |
2/1(-7%) | (6) Camulus 2/1, Well backed and showed the benefit of his reappearance 8 weeks earlier as he opened his account in Leicester handicap chase over this trip 4 weeks ago. That form isn't too bad for the grade and he can go well again up 6 lb. Came good over fences at Leicester last month and has scope for further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Safe Destination |
5/1(-50%) | (3) Safe Destination 5/1, A reformed character this season and proved better than ever as he made it 3 wins from his last 4 starts (2 from 2 under this amateur) in C&D handicap last month. Good shout again up 6 lb. In-form 7yo; scored over C&D last month and has now won three of his last four. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Exmoor Forest |
7/2(+22%) | (2) Exmoor Forest 7/2, Scored at Bangor in June and remains in good heart, third over C&D and no extra only late when filling the same position at Doncaster (3m) last time. Strong claims. Good third over C&D in December and again ran well at Doncaster last month; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() No But I Will |
18/1(-13%) | (4) No But I Will 18/1, Fairly useful form at best over fences for previous yard but not shown much for a while, including over hurdles the last twice. Visor the new headgear of choice and he's very well treated if reviving. Well beaten in a chase on stable debut and pulled up in two subsequent hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Ask Brewster |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Ask Brewster 12/1, Hurdles/point winner who scored on chasing debut at Ludlow (3m) on return but beat just 2 rivals and his subsequent efforts have been poor. Beat two rivals on chasing debut in October but soundly beaten three times since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Gold Link |
14/1(-40%) | (1) Gold Link 14/1, Successful twice in 2023 and took a step back in the right direction after a quiet spell at Market Rasen (3m) last time. On a good mark if building on that. Lost his way last year but last month's Market Rasen fourth was much more encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Robinsville |
3/1(+50%) | (8) Robinsville 3/1, Maiden hurdler/chaser who has run well in handicaps the last twice, keeping on when beaten 5 lengths by Safe Destination over C&D last month. Has a race in him. Kept on for third over C&D last month; 2lb wrong today but still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Mister Bells |
50/1(-150%) | (7) Mister Bells 50/1, Won 25f veterans' handicap chase at Catterick last season but well beaten in that race 4 weeks ago, still yet to find his form this term. Out of form this season but has travelled from North Yorkshire for this race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Last month's C&D winner Safe Destination must enter the reckoning in his current heart and a hat-trick would come as no surprise. However, a 6lb rise in the ratings does demands another career-best performance from the seven-year-old and EXMOOR FOREST is a shade more compelling. Nigel Hawke's charge only faltered in the closing stages when a close third over 3m at Doncaster 25 days ago and today's 2m7f distance could prove more suitable. Last-time-out winner Camulus can also make his presence felt.
EXMOOR FOREST is in good heart and is taken to resume winning ways. Safe Destination won't be far away again seeking his fourth win in 5 starts this season, while Camulus and Gold Link can't be discounted either in a decent handicap for the grade.
Nigel Hawke's EXMOOR FOREST has posted two good efforts off today's mark this winter and might be the answer.

1st (5) ![]() Luttrell Lad |
4/1(+71%) | (5) Luttrell Lad 4/1, Scored at Cartmel in July 2023 and followed that with several creditable efforts in defeat, including when fourth in an 8-runner Southwell handicap (2m, heavy) on New Year's Day. Former Swinton fourth and signs of returning to form when fourth at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Aurigny Mill |
15/8(+6%) | (1) Aurigny Mill 15/8, Took his form to a new level (formerly with Victor Dartnall) when a most impressive winner of 2m Newbury handicap in November. Not so good at Ascot next time but back on the up with a 19f course win last month. Should remain very competitive despite a further 8 lb rise. Won with a bit in hand here last time and only raised 4lb; hard to knock. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Liari |
85/40(+6%) | (2) Liari 85/40, Three-time juvenile hurdle winner last season. Has run with credit in defeat in handicaps this season, leaving the impression 2½m may have just stretched his stamina when third at Musselburgh last time. Player having been eased a further 2 lb. Has form in stronger handicaps and looked a non-stayer over 2m4f last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Stream Of Stars |
11/1(-57%) | (4) Stream Of Stars 11/1, Reappeared from lengthy absence as good as ever, recording back-to-back wins at Fontwell in September/October. Best run since when third of 7 to Aurigny Mill over 19f here last time but remains 4 lb above his latest successful mark. Will do well to reverse recent course placings with Aurigny Mill. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Schmilsson |
12/1(-140%) | (7) Schmilsson 12/1, Second hurdle success when shading a tight finish in 2m Wetherby handicap in October. No more than respectable in-frame efforts in his next 2 hurdle starts and below par back on AW Flat last month. Won off 2lb lower in October but below best since then, including on the Flat last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() The Widdow Maker |
9/1(+68%) | (6) The Widdow Maker 9/1, C&D winner who shaped as if retaining ability back from a 2-year absence when sixth of 14 over C&D 14 days ago. Ought to be sharper now. 50-1 here two weeks ago when returning from a long absence and he finished well behind. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
AURIGNY MILL justified strong support in the market when regaining the winning thread in a class 2 event here last month. Despite the eight-year-old being 4lb higher in the ratings now, he makes plenty of appeal reverting to class 3 company and a sixth career victory may be on the horizon. Liari arrives on the back of a weakening third over 2m4f at Musselburgh and Paul Nicholls' gelding is feared most reverting to 2m, ahead of Luttrell Lad.
LIARI seemed stretch by 2½m at Musselburgh on New Year's Day and might be worth siding with to resume winning ways having eased 4 lb in the handicap since the start of the season. Aurigny Mill is thriving for new trainer Robert Walford and is feared most ahead of Stream of Stars.
Aurigny Mill is solid but the one who appeals most is last season's smart juvenile LIARI (nap) whose sights are lowered here.

1st (1) ![]() Shearer |
4/11(+27%) | (1) Shearer 4/11, Took well to fences with 2 novice handicap wins in summer 2023 and showed he's still very talented when scoring easily in a Ffos Las hunter back from a long absence 12 days ago. Hard to beat again. Hosed up on hunter chase debut; has the most talent of these, as official ratings imply. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Haven't Time |
11/1(-10%) | (3) Haven't Time 11/1, Won a Southwell hunter last March and creditable third in similar races later in the spring. This is his first outing in nearly 10 months so he's entitled to be sharper for the run. Well held in this last season when a 33-1 chance but things have picked up since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Didero Vallis |
25/1(+0%) | (5) Didero Vallis 25/1, Badly out of sorts under Rules for Venetia Williams last spring but a couple of placed efforts in points this winter suggest he retains ability. Recent point form is nothing to shout about and looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Acey Milan |
4/1(-33%) | (4) Acey Milan 4/1, Fairly useful chaser in his pomp and won 3 points in 2023. Second in a Larkhill point on return this January but unseated at the first in the Ffos Las hunter won by Shearer 12 days ago. A first-time visor replaces blinkers now. Has always been talented; 3-4 in points before unseating early at Ffos Las. |

28/1(-12%) | (9) Missed Tee 28/1, Has reached the frame on 4 of 5 hunter starts for this yard but likely vulnerable for win purposes again. Beaten in five hunter chases for current yard and others are much preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SHEARER came home in splendid isolation on his comeback to complete a hat-trick at Ffos Las 12 days ago and the nine-year-old clearly retains plenty of ability. Although a quick turnaround after that return from a 601-day absence is a concern, the son of Flemensfirth holds outstanding claims again. Reopposing rival Acey Milan unseated his rider at the opening fence on that occasion, but he's could serve the most resistance to the selection if over that mishap. Haven't Time is the pick of the remainder.
It's hard to see past SHEARER, who had plenty to spare on his recent Ffos Las hunter debut. If there is to be a threat it'll likely come from Acey Milan, who unseated early in that Ffos Las race but prior to that returned from a lay-off with a near miss in a Larkhill point.
The quick reappearance is a nagging concern but the chances are that SHEARER will follow up his easy win at Ffos Las.
Ths is the racecard key.
