Lud'or |
(11) (5/2 -67%)5/2(-67%) | (11) Lud'or 5/2, Third foal, dam (h106) hurdle winner, also 10.5f-12.5f winner on Flat. Fairly useful form over hurdles, improved from debut when ¾-length second of 11 to Kara Diamond in juvenile at Auteuil second and final start in 2023/24 for E. Grall in France. That form sets the standard. Solid second (behind useful sort) at Auteuil last June; leading contender on British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Just Gino |
(8) (9/2 -29%)9/2(-29%) | (8) Just Gino 9/2, Bought for £100,000 after winning sole start in Irish points in March and shaped as if better for the run on his hurdle/Rules debut at Bangor, racing freely and fading. That form has worked out and he can improve a lot. Irish point winner; beaten favourite at Bangor but that race has thrown up winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gasmani |
(4) (10/1 +0%)10/1(+0%) | (4) Gasmani 10/1, Getaway gelding who was successful on last of 3 starts in points and built on an encouraging Rules debut when landing an 8-runner bumper at Newcastle in March. Found out in a better race at Ayr. Record includes wins in point and bumper; one of the main form contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (13) (10/3 +17%) Wales |
10/3(+17%) | (13) Wales 10/3, Useful on Flat (stays 1¾m), winner twice in Germany in 2023. Left Andreas Wohler €40,000 (privately) in November, then gelded ahead of hurdles debut. Dual Flat winner in Germany and his peak RPR is very useful; interesting recruit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (17/2 +47%) Impecunious |
17/2(+47%) | (7) Impecunious 17/2, Runner-up on sole outing in point bumper and much better effort second start under Rules when fifth at Exeter 3 weeks ago. Gives the impression he'll do better in handicaps later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/11 +91%) Minella Miracle |
10/11(+91%) | (9) Minella Miracle 10/11, Runner-up on last of 3 starts in Irish points but just modest form at best in bumpers for Thomas Gallagher. Since transferred to a leading stable ahead of this hurdles debut. Seven-race maiden; switches to hurdles on debut for Fergal O'Brien. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (80/1 -60%) Danny's Friend |
80/1(-60%) | (3) Danny's Friend 80/1, Little promise both starts in the spring, Beaten long way in both outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (28/1 +30%) Shibuya Song |
28/1(+30%) | (14) Shibuya Song 28/1, Fair Flat winner at peak but only modest in that sphere lately and hasn't really taken to hurdling so far. Holds weak claims on her form for current stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (18/1 +64%) Get The Value |
18/1(+64%) | (6) Get The Value 18/1, Fairly useful form in first 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers but there hasn't been much encouragement to be gleaned from his hurdling runs to date. Always behind in both attempts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (5/1 +17%) Scintillante |
5/1(+17%) | (12) Scintillante 5/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat, stays 1½m, won final start in 2023. Sold from Andrew Balding 30,000 gns later in November and possesses the raw ability to be a factor at this level. Fairly useful on Flat for Andrew Balding; possibilities provided he takes well to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (200/1 -300%) Newton |
200/1(-300%) | (10) Newton 200/1, Well held both starts in bumpers for Olly Murphy. Soundly beaten in two bumpers for Olly Murphy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (150/1 -200%) Break Heart Hill |
150/1(-200%) | (1) Break Heart Hill 150/1, No impact both starts. Needs plenty of improvement on his Exeter efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (100/1 -25%) Gerrots |
100/1(-25%) | (5) Gerrots 100/1, Modest Flat winner in recent times and always behind both hurdles outings. Cheekpieces on first time in this code. Has finished last in both attempts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (16/1 -60%) Cairo King |
16/1(-60%) | (2) Cairo King 16/1, Offered a bit more on second bumper start when third at Stratford in August but that form isn't anything to get carried away with. Absent since finishing third in bumper here last August; check the betting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LUD'OR showed plenty of promise when trained in France and was second at Auteuil when last seen in June. With that in mind, it will be no surprise if the four-year-old can make a winning debut for these connections. Just Gino was a beaten favourite on his Rules bow at Bangor but it is far too soon to be writing off this winning pointer, while Scintillante was useful on the Flat and is another to note.
LUD'OR's runner-up effort at Auteuil last summer is a solid piece of form in the context of this and in the hope he returns near that level for his new yard, he will take some stopping. Just Gino is a sure-fire improver, with Flat recruits Scintillante and Wales of interest.
In terms of hurdles form, ex-French LUD'OR holds leading claims on his latest Auteuil effort, while Just Gino is also respected.

1st (4) (15/2 -7%) Golfe Clair |
15/2(-7%) | (4) Golfe Clair 15/2, Fairly useful winning hurdler in 2021/22 but after a 22-month absence he hasn't been able to recapture that form on his last 3 starts, beaten 16¼ lengths when third at Catterick on his latest outing in February. Has work to do switched to chasing. Nicely handicapped provided he takes well to fences; 11lb lower than peak mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 +36%) Watergrange Jack |
9/2(+36%) | (1) Watergrange Jack 9/2, Showed improved form over hurdles in 2023/24, successful at Worcester in August before going on to score twice at Fontwell. However, made no impression in his bid for the 4-timer and pulled up at Exeter (24.2f) on his chasing debut in November. Absent since achieving nothing in Exeter chase in November; market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 -125%) Lightening Mahler |
9/2(-125%) | (2) Lightening Mahler 9/2, Successful sole start in Irish points and won 2 of her first 3 starts over hurdles, having a wind op prior to scoring at Huntingdon (20.7f) in March. Pulled up in listed event at Cheltenham last time, but she's respected as she makes her handicap/chase debut. Remains open to further progress; should take well to chasing (point winner). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (2/1 +50%) Annie Express |
2/1(+50%) | (6) Annie Express 2/1, Irish point winner who offered some encouragement on her first 2 starts over hurdles. Not in the same form next 2 outings, but back on track when fifth of 13 at Southwell (24.3f) on her chasing debut 16 days ago. Major player with cheekpieces added. Point winner; ran encouragingly switched to chasing last time; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/3 +17%) Jupiter Allen |
10/3(+17%) | (3) Jupiter Allen 10/3, Making his second handicap start over hurdles, resumed winning ways at Exeter (21.6f) in March, jumping soundly under a positive ride. Shaped as if still in good form at Warwick (25f) 2 weeks ago, mistake last, and he could make a bold bid switched to chasing. Dual hurdles winner; non-stayer over 3m1f most recently; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (12/1 -140%) Home Sweet Highway |
12/1(-140%) | (5) Home Sweet Highway 12/1, Runner-up on completed start in points and would have been placed but for unseating at the last at Ayr on his hurdles debut. Hasn't progressed from that since, but he could yet do better with cheekpieces applied for his handicap/chase debut. Chase debutant who looks interesting on a solid point effort (behind useful sort). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
In an open event, marginal preference is for ANNIE EXPRESS, who showed some promise on her chasing debut at Southwell a couple of weeks ago and should not be underestimated off 2lb lower and in first-time cheekpieces. Jupiter Allen was well held over hurdles at Warwick but is a player based on the pick of his form, while similar comments apply to Lightening Mahler and Watergrange Jack.
An easy winner in Irish points, ANNIE EXPRESS matched her hurdles form at the first attempt sent chasing at Southwell 16 days ago (the winner has scored again since) and she can build on that to open her Rules account. Lightly-raced winning hurdler Lightening Mahler is feared most sent chasing for her leading yard, ahead of Jupiter Allen.
This may set up nicely for HOME SWEET HIGHWAY who is armed with a few possible sources of improvement to boot.

1st (11) (22/1 +33%) No More No |
22/1(+33%) | (11) No More No 22/1, Unplaced in points and well beaten on his completed start over hurdles. Makes handicap debut from well out of the weights. No worthwhile form; makes his handicap debut but is 12lb out of the weights proper; visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +0%) Ushuaia Dancer |
5/1(+0%) | (4) Ushuaia Dancer 5/1, Runner-up over this trip on Newcastle handicap debut in January. Below that level twice since but he seemingly failed to stay 3m last time and can do better back over shorter. Second on handicap debut (2m6f, heavy); pulled up next time and soundly beaten latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/1 +50%) My Girl Katie |
7/1(+50%) | (5) My Girl Katie 7/1, On a good mark on peak form but hasn't really been threatening to take advantage. 20lb below her peak mark but the heavy defeat on latest start makes her hard to support. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/2 -10%) Nothinelsematters |
11/2(-10%) | (8) Nothinelsematters 11/2, Showed a bit when fifth on 19.5f Huntingdon handicap debut 14 days ago. Longer trip may suit. Not discounted. 25-1, 2l fifth of 11 on handicap debut at Huntingdon (2m3f, good); this trip can suit well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (50/1 -52%) Scout Master |
50/1(-52%) | (9) Scout Master 50/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has finished down the field in 4 hurdles for current yard, including a handicap last month. A subsequent wind op needs to have had a transformative effect. Tailed off with cheekpieces on handicap debut (2m4f) last time; has since had wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/4 +8%) Dixie Cowboy |
11/4(+8%) | (2) Dixie Cowboy 11/4, Maiden Irish pointer who made a decent start to his handicap hurdle career when 11 lengths second of 14 to a very well-treated rival at Southwell (20.5f, good) last month. Respected. Found only one rival too good on Southwell h'cap debut (2m4f, good), albeit 11l too good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/1 -67%) Mullys Choice |
10/1(-67%) | (3) Mullys Choice 10/1, Point runner-up but only no impact in maiden/novice hurdles and pulled up on Huntingdon handicap and chase debut in January. Given time since. Still early days but would need market support to consider. Soundly beaten in three hurdle races; pulled up on handicap/chase debut (2m7f) in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 -120%) Mistertommyshelby |
22/1(-120%) | (10) Mistertommyshelby 22/1, Overall record an uninspiring one and ran no sort of race when last seen at Southwell (20.5, soft) in December. Can only be watched unless the market says otherwise. Ten-race maiden; showed very little last two outings; off since December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (10/1 -25%) Grandmaster Flash |
10/1(-25%) | (7) Grandmaster Flash 10/1, Might have just needed it after 4 months off when fourth on his 2m Hereford handicap hurdle debut a month ago. Has a low hurdle mark compared to his Flat ability and this longer trip might suit given he stays well on the level. Nothing like the force of old on Flat; move up from 2m offers hope on h'cap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/1 +50%) Molly's Third Man |
7/1(+50%) | (6) Molly's Third Man 7/1, Poor form at best, pulling up in both handicap starts. A first-time visor needs to have a positive effect. Pulled up in both his handicaps (2m3f and 3m1f); wore cheekpieces latest, now visored. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (16/1 -167%) By The Grace |
16/1(-167%) | (1) By The Grace 16/1, Has looked one of her top stable's lesser lights to date, pulling up on 2m Kempton debut only 17 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Raced too freely over 2m5f; ran a shocker on handicap debut at Kempton (2m, good; 17-2). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DIXIE COWBOY bumped into a very well-handicapped rival when an 11-length second in a similar event at Southwell a couple of weeks ago. The five-year-old remains unexposed and a 1lb higher mark here may not be enough to stop him from going one better. Nothinelsematters was only beaten two lengths at Huntingdon last time and could prove to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of Ushuaia Dancer and By The Grace.
Brian Hughes retains the ride on USHUAIA DANCER who is given another chance to show he's on a favourable mark back over shorter. Dixie Cowboy was best of the rest behind a handicap blot at Southwell recently and is second choice ahead of Grandmaster Flash, whose Flat form suggests he might benefit from this step up in distance.
Top of the list are NOTHINELSEMATTERS, Dixie Cowboy and Grandmaster Flash.

Invincible De Mee |
(10) (25/1 -25%)25/1(-25%) | (10) Invincible De Mee 25/1, Poor maiden hurdler who has been pulled up on last 3 starts and makes little appeal. Has had a breathing operation and also tongue tied now. Made the frame in two handicaps in early 2023 but pulled up all three starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Eric Carmen |
(8) (33/1 +18%)33/1(+18%) | (8) Eric Carmen 33/1, A fair maiden in Ireland but no show for current yard and faces a quick turnaround. Didn't run badly at Southwell on Tuesday but has basically become disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (11/8 +31%) R Bernard |
11/8(+31%) | (5) R Bernard 11/8, 7/2, improved to win 13-runner handicap hurdle at this course (26.4f, good to soft) 18 days ago, soon clear. Strong claims of following up in a weak race. Made all to win fairly easily over 3m2f last month; can progress again for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 +38%) Inspector Lynley |
5/1(+38%) | (7) Inspector Lynley 5/1, Maiden who was in good order prior to being pulled up at Fontwell 149 days ago. Return to less testing conditions should sui after a break, so he's not one to rule out. Struggled on heavy ground in December but earlier form on goodish ground gives him claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/2 +38%) Groom De Cotte |
15/2(+38%) | (1) Groom De Cotte 15/2, Only muted efforts over hurdles recently, fifth at Exeter last time. That said, he's sliding in the weights and this isn't a strong contest. Well handicapped on old form; returned from break with quite encouraging run; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (50/1 -25%) Spiritus Mundi |
50/1(-25%) | (9) Spiritus Mundi 50/1, This maiden has been out of sorts for a while and is easy enough to oppose. Well beaten on both outings last season and now 0-13 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +29%) Propelled |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Propelled 5/1, From a top yard but it's been all downhill since finishing second on his Huntingdon hurdle debut in March 2022. Others appeal more. Represents a top stable but has been safely held in all five handicap hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (25/1 -56%) Hitthekettle |
25/1(-56%) | (4) Hitthekettle 25/1, Took 7 tries to win an Irish point and has shown very little under Rules to date. Not disgraced over 2m2f here last month but needs that outing to have done him good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (14/1 -250%) Bahio Boum |
14/1(-250%) | (6) Bahio Boum 14/1, Shaped with encouragement when third of 8 in bumper at Worcester on debut in September. No impact over hurdles as yet but likely candidate for improvement now handicapping up in trip after a break. Worth taking a chance on. Cut little ice in slow-ground novice/maiden hurdles but open to improvement in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (11/2 -83%) Star Of Affinity |
11/2(-83%) | (2) Star Of Affinity 11/2, Gradually coming to hand as a hurdler, running well when third at Exeter last time. Promises to be well suited by this longer trip and is a definite player. Made the frame in first two handicaps (2m1f/2m2f); may improve over this longer trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
R BERNARD impressed when making all over the extended 3m2f here 18 days ago and, even off a 10lb higher mark, will be tough to overhaul if this shorter trip doesn't catch him out. Threats include Star Of Affinity (third), who has yet to have his stamina tested over this far, while Groom De Cotte (fifth) wasn't far behind that rival when they clashed over the extended 2m2f at Exeter and can improve, given that was his first run back after wind surgery.
BAHIO BOUM hasn't shown much over hurdles but a mark of 82 could underestimate him based on bumper exploits, so he's worth siding with if the market speaks in his favour. R Bernard scored easily at this track last time and is an obvious danger, while Star of Affinity can't be ruled out.
A convincing course winner on just his second stable start, R BERNARD is taken to overcome a 10lb rise.

Astroman |
(1) (25/1 -108%)25/1(-108%) | (1) Astroman 25/1, Ran well over hurdles at Plumpton in April after 6 months off. Probably found the race coming too soon back over fences at Wincanton and he won twice around this time last year. Change of headgear. Engaged 19.10 Fontwell Wednesday. Beaten long way at Wincanton last month; well-beaten 7:10 Fontwell Wednesday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Etincelle Artiste |
(11) (25/1 +0%)25/1(+0%) | (11) Etincelle Artiste 25/1, Runner-up sole start in points but just poor form under Rules, going in snatches when well held at Exeter latest. Still a maiden and looks far from solid on last season's form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (6/4 +25%) Village Master |
6/4(+25%) | (3) Village Master 6/4, Irish point recruit who left his novice hurdle efforts behind when making a successful chase/handicap debut at Hereford (21f, soft). Followed up in good style at Warwick (24f, good) 2 weeks ago and should be more to come from him. 2-2 since switched to chasing; has a useful pedigree and is likely to improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 -13%) Hard Frost |
9/2(-13%) | (2) Hard Frost 9/2, Found improvement when narrowly landing 9-runner handicap chase at Taunton (23f) in December. Not in same form next 2 starts and got no further than the first 2 weeks ago. Won off just 1lb lower at Taunton in December; likely player if back to that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (17/2 -21%) Robinsville |
17/2(-21%) | (5) Robinsville 17/2, Yet to taste success but last 2 starts over hurdles were respectable. Makes chase debut. Possibilities off current mark, provided he improves for the switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (18/1 +28%) Mackie Dee |
18/1(+28%) | (10) Mackie Dee 18/1, Hurdles winner at Uttoxeter in June 2022 and, after a 16-month absence, shaped as though retaining some ability when third in handicap chase at Market Rasen (21.4f) in November. However, pulled up both starts since and now tried in a visor. Chance largely depends on whether new headgear prompts a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (13/2 -44%) Royal Sam |
13/2(-44%) | (7) Royal Sam 13/2, Point winner who showed promise over hurdles for Milton Harris. Respectable efforts over fences for this yard last term and remains capable of better in this sphere. Headgear on. Latest effort wasn't devoid of promise; first-time headgear may help; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -71%) Going Mobile |
12/1(-71%) | (4) Going Mobile 12/1, Failed to win last season and isn't always the stoutest of finishers, so opposable back up in trip. Campaigned at about 2m for most of the last two years; goes back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (6/1 +70%) Sans Of Gold |
6/1(+70%) | (12) Sans Of Gold 6/1, Poor form at best over hurdles and fared little better since switched to fences. Has poor claims on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (22/1 -120%) Bells Of Stamford |
22/1(-120%) | (8) Bells Of Stamford 22/1, Hurdle/chase winner but showed little in 3 starts last season (came in for support final start). Plenty to prove. Badly out of sorts last term; market may prove best guide on return from break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (40/1 -186%) Forget You Not |
40/1(-186%) | (9) Forget You Not 40/1, Mixed form since his last win and opposable after 9 months off. Inconsistent since last win and now returns from 291-day absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Still of very low mileage, VILLAGE MASTER has taken to fences in good style and, although not error-free, the Warren Greatrex-trained gelding has landed a brace of wins in a convincing enough manner to suggest he is the one to be with here. Forget You Not has won off a 6lb higher mark and cannot be ruled out on these terms. Hard Frost is another player from just 1lb higher than his only previous winning rating.
VILLAGE MASTER has looked a natural since switched to fences and this looks a good opportunity for him to complete the hat-trick. Royal Sam wasn't seen to best effect at Taunton 2 weeks ago and remains capable of better in this sphere, while Astroman is worth another chance.
With further progress likely, nicely bred VILLAGE MASTER (nap) is taken to complete a hat-trick. Royal Sam is second choice.

1st (6) (3/1 +0%) Tour Ovalie |
3/1(+0%) | (6) Tour Ovalie 3/1, Fair in bumpers and not far off that level over hurdles. Bumped into a well-treated rival when second at Hereford (16.2f, soft) last month, so she shouldn't be far away nudged up 1 lb. Runner-up twice over 2m at Hereford this spring; likely to give another good account. |

2nd (7) (11/2 +45%) Asian Spice |
11/2(+45%) | (7) Asian Spice 11/2, Represents some of last season's strongest low-grade handicap hurdle form lines courtesy of her exploits at Exeter (won twice in November). Has struggled on all 3 subsequent starts though, so arrives with a bit to prove. Won back to back at Exeter in November but handicapper in charge since. |

3rd (2) (7/4 +30%) Greyval |
7/4(+30%) | (2) Greyval 7/4, Dual winner in juvenile hurdles in 2022/23 season, including a listed event at Doncaster. Shaped encouragingly after 4 months off when a close fourth of 6 at this C&D (good to soft) 18 days ago and she's likely to be thereabouts again. Close fourth over C&D on recent return from break; player if building on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 -13%) We'llgowats |
9/1(-13%) | (5) We'llgowats 9/1, Doubled her tally over hurdles at Gowran in September and her penultimate runner-up effort at Wexford was a career best. However, she was tailed off at Down Royal (17f, soft) on Boxing Day and it's hard to know what mood she'll arrive in. Dual hurdle winner in Ireland; placed off similar mark in Britain before; Brian Hughes up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 -45%) Amelia's Dance |
8/1(-45%) | (1) Amelia's Dance 8/1, Has found just one too good on several occasions since latest success in 2022. Can have a line put through her latest effort at Kempton (16f, good) last month (all but came down third) and few would begrudge this mare another moment in the sun. Second five times last term; latest run can be ignored (pulled up after early mistake). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (16/1 -220%) Pillar Of Steel |
16/1(-220%) | (3) Pillar Of Steel 16/1, As good as ever when getting back to winning ways in mares' handicap over C&D in August. Ran much better than on her debut for James Evans when fourth of 8 at Ludlow (15.8f, good) 7 months ago and has since rejoined her former yard. C&D winner; rejoined Henry Oliver back from seven months off; no great record fresh. |

7th (4) (9/1 -38%) Lone Star |
9/1(-38%) | (4) Lone Star 9/1, Had a productive time in 2022/23, scoring 5 times. Not quite in same form last campaign but was still in touch when falling at the sixth at Cheltenham (20.2f, good) 3 weeks ago. Worth another chance back at her last winning mark. Respectable fourth on latest completed start but all wins at 2m4f+. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Greyval tok a step back in the right direction when fourth over C&D and she is likely to be on the premises. However, AMELIA'S DANCE was easily the better of the two when they clashed at Newbury back in December, filling the runner-up berth, and can uphold the form. She wasn't persevered with after an early mistake at Kempton last month and can put the record straight here. Tour Ovalie is the pick of the rest.
GREYVAL signalled her turn may be imminent with an encouraging fourth over C&D on return recently and with that sure to have blown away any cobwebs, Fergal O'Brien's 5-y-o can notch her third success over hurdles at the expense of Lone Star, who was still in the mix before coming to grief at Cheltenham last month. Tour Ovalie can edge out Amelia's Dance for bronze.
May tends to be a productive month for the Fergal O'Brien stable and GREYVAL is taken to build on a decent run here last month.

Military Tycoon |
(7) (13/2 -44%)13/2(-44%) | (7) Military Tycoon 13/2, Fairly useful Flat winner who has shown a bit in maiden hurdles for this yard this year and may do better now handicapping. Yet to shine over hurdles but his opening mark could be lenient given his Flat ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (14/1 -17%) Fandabidozi |
14/1(-17%) | (1) Fandabidozi 14/1, Posted some fair efforts in defeat last summer but he was well held returned to this sphere (fit from the Flat) at Huntingdon last month. Well beaten at Huntingdon last month but down in class and claims on last summer's best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (8/1 -129%) Amalfi Bay |
8/1(-129%) | (5) Amalfi Bay 8/1, Fair Flat winner who got back on track following a breathing op when second of 7 in a novice hurdle at Exeter (18.5f, good) in October. Beaten a long way out on subsequent handicap debut in this sphere at Taunton but he's probably worth another chance. Pulled up on handicap hurdle debut but soft ground may not have suited; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (12/1 +14%) The Sad Shepherd |
12/1(+14%) | (2) The Sad Shepherd 12/1, Point winner who was runner-up in 2m Perth maiden hurdle on final start for Stuart Crawford last June. No show both starts for new yard, though, and others make more appeal. 30l behind Silverbridge on last month's handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (4/1 +60%) Charming Getaway |
4/1(+60%) | (10) Charming Getaway 4/1, Didn't show much in a bumper/half-a-dozen starts over hurdles for Kim Bailey and best watched here following a 20-month absence/wind op on debut for new yard. Limited for Kim Bailey but he's had a wind op prior to this stable debut; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (12/1 +52%) El Vigaro |
12/1(+52%) | (8) El Vigaro 12/1, Unplaced both starts in Irish points and only poor form shown over hurdles to date. Likely improver now attentions are switched to low-grade handicaps; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/4 +8%) Silverbridge |
11/4(+8%) | (6) Silverbridge 11/4, Showed fair form in pair of 1½m maidens on Flat for John Joseph Murphy in Ireland. Initial efforts in this sphere were low key but upped his game when third of 10 on recent handicap debut at Bangor (16.7f) and could be a factor if able to build on that. Promising third on h'cap debut; longer trip should suit and he's open to more improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (25/1 -79%) Dixie Flyer |
25/1(-79%) | (3) Dixie Flyer 25/1, Fair form at best when trained by Henry de Bromhead, but he's 0-15 over hurdles and hopes here are very much pinned on the first-time blinkers sparking improvement. Tumbling down the weights for new yard; check betting now tried in blinkers for first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (7/1 +83%) James Baie |
7/1(+83%) | (12) James Baie 7/1, Hasn't shown much at all in his 4 runs over hurdles and looks up against it from 6 lb out of the weights here. Blinkers applied. Little appeal on hurdle form but some promise in bumpers & better ground/blinkers may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (18/1 -29%) Ceejaybe |
18/1(-29%) | (9) Ceejaybe 18/1, Produced his best effort to date over hurdles when second at Huntingdon in February but hasn't come close to matching that in 2 subsequent starts. Not kicked on from his Huntingdon second in February; needs a personal best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (12/1 -118%) Basman Palace |
12/1(-118%) | (4) Basman Palace 12/1, Hasn't pulled up any trees in his 5 starts over hurdles, albeit his latest fourth in a 12-runner Taunton handicap (16.5f, soft) wasn't a bad effort. Shapes as though this stiffer test will suit and he's an each-way candidate. Plugged on for 4th on h'cap debut (2m, soft) 4 weeks ago; longer trip not enough to tempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (8/1 -14%) Haafback |
8/1(-14%) | (11) Haafback 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler who left his previous form behind when second on handicap debut at Kempton (2m, good) 17 days ago. Wouldn't be without a chance if able to build on that here. Improved for good ground/low-grade handicaps when second at Kempton last month; unexposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Although AMALFI BAY was disappointing when pulling up on his handicap bow over hurdles at Taunton in February, there is a sneaking suspicion that this return to quicker ground could unlock significant improvement. Anthony Honeyball's gelding was a useful performer on the Flat and is worth chancing in an open event. Military Tycoon boasts a similar profile to the selection and any market support would be interesting, while Silverbridge should appreciate the rise in distance.
AMALFI BAY needs to bounce back from a disappointing display at Taunton but he appeared to be getting the hang of things when runner-up in a Exeter novice prior to that and is worth chancing in this open-looking contest. Silverbridge and Military Tycoon both have low mileage and are feared most in that order of preference, while Basman Palace and Haafback will also have chances if able to build on their latest improved efforts.
Miltary Tycoon has more to come now handicapping but SILVERBRIDGE is preferred after a pleasing handicap debut last month.

Northern Rose |
(11) (10/1 +29%)10/1(+29%) | (11) Northern Rose 10/1, Maiden who has run well the last twice, left in a place last at Southwell (2m) on Tuesday. Modest form when placed in her last two runs; needs more to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chevington |
(1) (20/1 -67%)20/1(-67%) | (1) Chevington 20/1, Runner-up on the first of 3 outings in bumpers. Minor promise only over hurdles but could be seen in a better light now handicapping. Betting may prove a useful guide. Placed in a bumper and some promise in novice hurdles; can do better now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Culligran |
(5) (25/1 -79%)25/1(-79%) | (5) Culligran 25/1, Notnowcato filly who was unplaced on both completed starts in points. However, some promise in pair of maiden/novice hurdles in recent weeks, probably unsuited by drop back to 2m when fourth at Ffos Las 17 days ago. Handicap debut. Hurdle debut was encouraging; makes handicap debut at a realistic level; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (6/1 -20%) Our Dylan |
6/1(-20%) | (7) Our Dylan 6/1, Showed benefit of a recent run when belatedly shedding maiden tag at Hereford (16.2f) 30 days ago, leading soon after the last and doing it comfortably. Of interest again nudged up 6 lb. 23rd time lucky at Hereford last month; more needed to defy a 6lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/2 +61%) City Roller |
11/2(+61%) | (4) City Roller 11/2, Maiden who ran best race for some time with a tongue strap added when fourth of 14 in handicap at Southwell (20.4f) 16 days ago, left behind gradually. Has fallen considerably in the weights but task now is to build on that. Modest and exposed maiden; latest run was okay but still looks high in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (15/8 +37%) Garitsa Bay |
15/8(+37%) | (3) Garitsa Bay 15/8, Didn't offer much in bumper/3 novice hurdle runs but built on promise of his handicap debut effort at Market Rasen when opening his account in a C&D handicap 18 days ago, staying on to lead near finish. Up 6 lb but good chance there's more to come, particularly if his jumping improves. Game effort to win over C&D last month; up 6lb but still brings low mileage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/1 +25%) Nobody Told Me |
9/1(+25%) | (8) Nobody Told Me 9/1, Fair Flat winner for Jedd O'Keeffe who has displayed a modicum of promise in trio of maiden/novice hurdle runs for new yard. Switch to handicaps more suitable now and interesting if the market speaks in his favour. Well beaten in 3 quick runs over hurdles this spring; Flat ability makes him of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/4 -22%) Telefenney |
11/4(-22%) | (6) Telefenney 11/4, Well held first 4 starts over hurdles but much improved to make second handicap start a winning one over C&D 18 days ago, looking well served by the increase in trip. Possibilities again given low-mileage profile. Off the mark over C&D 18 days ago; 8lb rise asks more of her but she's unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (18/1 -13%) Luminaries |
18/1(-13%) | (10) Luminaries 18/1, Offered very little in maiden/novice hurdles and similar story in handicaps last summer. Marked improvement required if he's to figure back from 8 months off. Poor form for this yard; absent eight months and not easily recommended. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (16/1 -45%) Logistical |
16/1(-45%) | (9) Logistical 16/1, Maiden on Flat/over hurdles who showed some promise in juvenile hurdles for Tom Lacey during second half of last year. Hasn't been at his best on the Flat for present stable in recent months though, and percentage call is to look elsewhere. Handicap debut. Placed in minor 3yo hurdles last season; fair AW Flat form this year but below par latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (125/1 -400%) Farewellchancer |
125/1(-400%) | (2) Farewellchancer 125/1, 7-y-o who didn't offer a great deal in handful of maiden hurdles for Gordon Elliott during second half of last year. Changed hands for just 1,000 gns in January and percentage call is to look elsewhere now handicapping. Unplaced in 5 maiden hurdles for Gordon Elliott; sold for 1,000gns in Jan; lots to prove.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TELEFENNEY spoiled the party for favourite-backers when getting the better of a stablemate over C&D last month. The five-year-old impressed with the way she travelled that day and an 8lb higher mark may not be the ceiling of her ability. Our Dylan bounced back to form when capitalising on a career-low mark at Hereford. He is feared most, ahead of Garitsa Bay, who landed the other division of the race won by the selection here and is also likely capable of better.
GARITSA BAY showed improved form despite suggesting he still has something to learn, including on the jumping score, when getting on top late on over C&D 18 days ago and he looks of interest again with the prospect of more to come. Telefenney, another low-mileage sort who tasted success over C&D recently, is feared with Our Dylan another to consider having shed the maiden tag at Hereford 4 weeks ago.
Telefenney won well here last month and is a key contender but CULLIGRAN is unexposed and looks a likely improver now handicapping.
Ths is the racecard key.
