1st (11) (8/1 +20%) Red Walls |
8/1(+20%) | (11) Red Walls 8/1, Course winner. Twenty-three runs since last win in 2022. Creditable third of 11 in handicap (11/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 3 days ago, leading until last ½f. May just be vulnerable once more. Five-time AW winner but all over 5f; fair third on Tuesday but could prove vulnerable late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 +20%) Autumn Angel |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Autumn Angel 4/1, Off the mark at this C&D in February and doubled her tally at Bath in July. After a couple of below-par efforts, bounced back to form when third of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 17/2) 12 days ago. Respected. C&D winner in February; turf win in July; promise at Wolverhampton latest; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/2 +13%) Conquest Of Power |
7/2(+13%) | (3) Conquest Of Power 7/2, Again ran well when second of 10 in handicap (11/2) at Chelmsford City (6f) 48 days ago, nearest finish having been short of room inside final 1f. Major player in his current form. Runner-up at Chelmsford in Class 6 company the last twice; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (28/1 -40%) Shabaaby |
28/1(-40%) | (7) Shabaaby 28/1, Capitalised on falling mark when winning at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 40/1) in November. However, failed to repeat that effort when eleventh of 12 in handicap (16/1) at the same C&D 12 days ago. Others more persuasive. Popped up at 40-1 at Wolverhampton last month (6f); less good latest and others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (4/1 +11%) Nazca |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Nazca 4/1, Completed 4-timer when successful at Wolverhampton in October. Winning run ended when 2¾ lengths ninth of 12 to Lezardrieux in handicap (9/2) at Newcastle (6f) 38 days ago, though raced wide. Needs to resume his progress. Won four on AW this year and bid for five-timer hamstrung by the draw; may do better yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (8/1 -45%) Fircombe Hall |
8/1(-45%) | (8) Fircombe Hall 8/1, Confirmed return to form when winning at Wolverhampton at the beginning of the month. Another good effort when second of 12 in handicap (7/2) at this C&D 3 days later, clear of the rest, so he enters calculations. In good form off his reduced mark in recent weeks, 2nd over C&D latest; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (25/1 -150%) Lezardrieux |
25/1(-150%) | (1) Lezardrieux 25/1, Recorded second win of the year at Newcastle (6f) in November. However, ran no sort of race when last of 12 in handicap (11/2) at the same C&D 13 days ago. Bounce back called for. Made all at Newcastle last month but ran poorly last time; other pace to deal with today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (12/1 -60%) Blackcurrent |
12/1(-60%) | (9) Blackcurrent 12/1, Course winner. Has won twice at Newcastle this year, the latest in September. Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap (4/1) at this C&D 15 days ago. Could make another bold bid. Tough front-runner but he's unlikely to get an easy lead in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (10/1 -33%) Nordic Glory |
10/1(-33%) | (6) Nordic Glory 10/1, Successful at Lingfield in October (fifth course victory). Not discredited when fifth of 10 in handicap (5/1) at the same course (6f, AW) 17 days ago, typically carrying head awkwardly. Can give his running again. Two wins in October and he's run creditably the last twice; could have a good run in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (40/1 -21%) Dazzerling |
40/1(-21%) | (12) Dazzerling 40/1, Remains a maiden after 22 Flat runs. Fared no better under more positive tactics when eighth of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 28/1) 15 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Engaged 8.00 Chelmsford Thursday. Exposed 22-race maiden; patchy overall record; likely to come up short once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (12/1 +14%) Broxi |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Broxi 12/1, Course winner. Reported to have bled when last of 9 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good, 9/1) in June. Off 6 months ahead of first run for yard after leaving Dean Ivory. Others preferred back down in trip. Six-time winner over 7f; 6f the worry starting out for a new yard after a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Conquest Of Power has filled the runner-up spot in this grade on his last two starts and should give it another good go off a 1lb higher mark. However, the one to side with is AUTUMN ANGEL, who flew home to finish third over this trip at Wolverhampton last time and remains on the same mark. Fircombe Hall has been in good heart of late and is another to consider.
CONQUEST OF POWER has returned to form on his last 2 starts, looking unlucky not to finish closer when runner-up at Chelmsford last time, so he could be ready to return to winning ways this time around. Autumn Angel is also down to a handy mark and is feared most, ahead of Fircombe Hall.
Nazca, Fircombe Hall and AUTUMN ANGEL appeal most with the latter taken to build on a promising recent run at Wolverhampton.

Can make her presence felt. Moves up to 1m6f (here) and 2m (Lingfield) on last two starts both brought wins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -13%) Western Stars |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Western Stars 9/2, Recorded a third success of the year when landing 7-runner apprentices handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW, 9/4) 2 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (Evens +60%) Aqwaam |
Evens(+60%) | (1) Aqwaam Evens, Has benefited from going up in trip, making it back-to-back wins when scoring at Newcastle in November. Ran at least as well when second of 9 in handicap (11/10) at this C&D a week ago, so he looks set to give another good account. Won well at Newcastle (2m) before creditable sixth off this 7lb higher mark to Aqwaam. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (28/1 -133%) Animato |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Animato 28/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Respectable fifth of 8 in handicap (10/1) at Chelmsford City (14f) 8 days ago. Not discounted from his current mark as he goes back up in trip. 2nd to Aqwaam at Newcastle (2m) on AW debut in first-time cheekpieces; only 5th last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (11/1 -38%) Pons Aelius |
11/1(-38%) | (3) Pons Aelius 11/1, Left behind a lesser effort when 2¾ lengths fourth of 10 to Aqwaam in handicap (11/2) at Newcastle (16.2f) 35 days ago. One to consider now 2 lb below his last winning mark. Respectable fourth to Aqwaam at Newcastle last time but others are preferred for the win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (33/1 -136%) Smart Champion |
33/1(-136%) | (8) Smart Champion 33/1, Remains without a win this year, lacking a change of gear when third of 7 in handicap (17/2) at Chelmsford City (14f) 78 days ago. Mark continues to fall but others still make more appeal. 8yo who is 0-10 this year despite coming steadily down the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (125/1 -279%) Red Force One |
125/1(-279%) | (11) Red Force One 125/1, Won handicap hurdle at Huntingdon in May but has struggled for form over timber/on the level since, last of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (13.3f, 50/1) 43 days ago. Best watched. Latest turf came over hurdles in May; in a rut over hurdles, on Flat and AW since, however. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SEA ME DANCE successfully completed a double at Lingfield earlier in the month and she was put up 3lb for that victory. The daughter of Sea The Stars takes a step up in grade now, but that is unlikely to stop her from going in again. Aqwaam was only denied by just under two lengths in a stronger contest than this over C&D last time and has to be considered off the same mark, while Smart Champion can fight it out for the minor money after his third at Chelmsford.
WESTERN STARS had been in better heart than his recent form figures suggested and he returned to winning ways in an apprentices event at Lingfield on Wednesday. He gets to race unpenalised here and can follow up with cheekpieces reapplied, though Aqwaam isn't taken lightly in his current form. Sea Me Dance completes the shortlist.
Western Stars does not have to carry a penalty for Wednesday's win but the best two options may be SEA ME DANCE and Aqwaam.

1st (6) (10/1 +44%) Rusheen Boy |
10/1(+44%) | (6) Rusheen Boy 10/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 80/1, twelfth of 14 in minor event at Newmarket (6f, good). Off 147 days. Hood/tongue strap on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Uphill task. Modest form in three sprint runs in the summer; has been gelded; accessories now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3/1 +14%) Lady In Havana |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Lady In Havana 3/1, Much improved on first start since leaving Amy Murphy when winning 12-runner nursery at this C&D 15 days ago by length from Badosa, driven out. Looks competitive from 5 lb higher mark. Well backed when beating 4 of today's rivals over C&D on stable/nursery debut; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (18/1 +36%) Mehigburn |
18/1(+36%) | (11) Mehigburn 18/1, No better than mid-division in minor events/nurseries and looks set for another minor role. Finished behind four of today's rivals when 6th over C&D two weeks ago; career best needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (5/2 +44%) Badosa |
5/2(+44%) | (7) Badosa 5/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, good length second of 12 to Lady In Havana in nursery at this C&D 15 days ago, sticking to task. Can give another good account. Chased home Lady In Havana over C&D 15 days ago; should be in the shake up once again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (16/1 -33%) Red Iris |
16/1(-33%) | (12) Red Iris 16/1, Back to form when fifth of 11 in nursery at Newcastle (7.1f) 35 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Needs a couple of these to falter. Latest Newcastle run can be upgraded; worth another crack at sprinting; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (20/1 -25%) Smooth Silesie |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Smooth Silesie 20/1, Below form sixth of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 13 days ago. Seems to have gone the wrong way and others are preferred. Not progressing and her yard may hold stronger claims with Lady Of Havana. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (3/1 +75%) Meet Me In Meraki |
3/1(+75%) | (4) Meet Me In Meraki 3/1, Seventh of 11 in nursery (11/1) at Kempton (6f) 37 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Keen sort who leaves impression he has a bigger effort in him at some point; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (22/1 -300%) Perfect Spring |
22/1(-300%) | (1) Perfect Spring 22/1, Runner-up in nursery at Kempton (6f, 5/2) in November but wasn't in same form over longer trip when sixth of 13 in similar race there (7f) 9 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Place claims. Disappointing over 7f last week; connections now turn to headgear; chance on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (28/1 -133%) Run Joy Run |
28/1(-133%) | (9) Run Joy Run 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 16/1, creditable fifth of 13 in nursery at Kempton (7f) 9 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Has work to do. No improvement for 7f at Kempton last week; others stronger for win purposes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (14/1 -211%) Alibi Warning |
14/1(-211%) | (5) Alibi Warning 14/1, Promising type. 33/1, improved when 1½ lengths fourth of 12 to Lady In Havana in nursery at this C&D 15 days ago, finishing well. Expected to be bang there from unchanged mark. Still looked green when finishing well for 4th on recent C&D nursery debut; more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (125/1 -681%) Dash Power |
125/1(-681%) | (10) Dash Power 125/1, Sixth of 9 in minor event at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 6 days ago. Plenty more required. Saturday's Wolverhampton run wasn't bad but he'll need further progress to win here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
LADY IN HAVANA justified favouritism on her nursery debut over C&D earlier in the month and a 5lb rise for that success is unlikely to stop her from taking another step forward. Alibi Warning caught the eye when fourth behind the selection on that occasion and has to be respected with the handicapper having left her mark alone. She is capable of reversing form with Badosa (second).
ALIBI WARNING was behind 3 of her opposition here over C&D last time but would have gone closer granted a clearer run and she's fancied to capitalise on an unchanged mark. Lady In Havana and Badosa were the 1-2 in that contest and are obvious players again.
There could be more to come from LADY IN HAVANA and she can make it 2-2 for this yard. Alibi Warning is feared most.

8/1(+20%) | (12) Captain's Bar 8/1, Latest win at Newcastle in October. Good ½-length third of 11 to Stone of Destiny in handicap (22/1) at this C&D 7 days ago, running on. Not taken lightly. Solid 3rd behind Stone Of Destiny last week and 5lb better off today; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 +29%) Rose King |
5/1(+29%) | (7) Rose King 5/1, C&D winner. Shaped as if still in good form when 4 lengths fourth of 11 to Khabib in handicap (4/1) at this C&D 28 days ago, forcing pace. Frame claims again. Two course wins in February; yet to win a handicap & behind two of these here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 +43%) Khabib |
2/1(+43%) | (1) Khabib 2/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. Not disgraced when fourth of 13 in handicap at this C&D (7/1) 10 days ago. Has to be taken seriously back at a more realistic level. Good record over C&D; beat Twilight Madness here last month; should be involved again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (13/2 -44%) Stone Of Destiny |
13/2(-44%) | (10) Stone Of Destiny 13/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 11-runner handicap (7/1) at this C&D 7 days ago. Carries penalty. Long been a tricky customer and hard to say whether he'll arrive here in same form. Ended losing run here last week; not well in under penalty but this should be run to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (20/1 -233%) Pop Dancer |
20/1(-233%) | (2) Pop Dancer 20/1, Improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 34 days ago. Respected from 2 lb higher mark, 2lb rise for latest Wolverhampton win seems fair; not at best in one C&D run though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (28/1 -12%) Reigning Profit |
28/1(-12%) | (11) Reigning Profit 28/1, 3 wins from 11 runs this year. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 20/1) 15 days ago. Needs to recapture the form shown in the spring to stand a chance. Not found his best form since returning to action in October; easy lead unlikely here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (5/2 +0%) Twilight Madness |
5/2(+0%) | (3) Twilight Madness 5/2, C&D winner. 11/4, very good neck second of 11 to Khabib in handicap at this C&D 28 days ago, running on. Merits consideration despite high draw. Won this race last year off same mark; 1lb better off with Khabib for a neck on latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (18/1 +10%) Installation |
18/1(+10%) | (5) Installation 18/1, Given a considerate return from 6 months off under an inexperienced rider when eighth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 13 days ago. This should reveal more. Inconsistent; well beaten on recent return and the visor (worn for 2 best runs) is absent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (50/1 -100%) Zargun |
50/1(-100%) | (6) Zargun 50/1, Seventeen runs since sole win in 2021 and hasn't shown much since returning from 12 months off this season. On losing run; struggling this season and he'll be another 4lb lower from the weekend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (50/1 -525%) Glory Fighter |
50/1(-525%) | (8) Glory Fighter 50/1, Scored at Catterick in June but ran poorly when sixth of 9 in handicap there (5f, good, 9/2) last time. Off 114 days. Has work to do. All-the-way win at Catterick in June off 1lb lower; mixed since; no headgear after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (66/1 -164%) Kodi Red |
66/1(-164%) | (4) Kodi Red 66/1, Tenth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 59 days ago. Eyeshields/blinkers on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter. Headgear now added but his latest AW outing was uninspiring. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
STONE OF DESTINY returned to winning ways here last Friday, when overcoming traffic problems in the process, and the eight-year-old is capable of backing that performance up, despite being 2lb wrong when factoring in his penalty. Rose King has been running consistently well since returning from a break in October, while Khabib and Twilight Madness appeal most of the remainder.
KHABIB scored over C&D from a 4 lb lower mark last month and made the frame in a 0-90 last time, so appeals as the standard-setter carrying top-weight back down in grade. Twilight Madness only went down narrowly against the selection last time and has to be respected again in spite of a high draw, whilst bottom-weight Captain's Bar bounced back to form at Newcastle last time and remains on a workable mark.
Stone Of Destiny looks set to go well once again but top-weight KHABIBo may have his measure under his optimum conditions.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (15/2 -67%) Urban Road |
15/2(-67%) | (7) Urban Road 15/2, C&D winner. 4 wins from 14 runs this year, the latest at Newcastle in September. Creditable third of 12 in handicap at the same course (8f, 7/2) 52 days ago (may well have won but for encountering traffic problems). One to consider. Four wins since April & still improving judged on last two efforts; one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (22/1 -214%) Haworth Star |
22/1(-214%) | (4) Haworth Star 22/1, 4/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 12 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 15 days ago. Probably best to overlook that effort and claims judged on his placings at Wolverhampton and Newcastle prior to that. Has been threatening on Tapeta but over 7f; tack issues latest; stamina for 1m not assured. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Yorkstone is expected to bounce back following a spin over hurdles at Wetherby last month, having won twice on turf at Doncaster and Ayr earlier in the year. The vote, though, goes to PAVLODAR, who had excuses when disappointing at Chepstow in September and, having been freshened up ahead of his debut for Mick Appleby, this may be the time to catch him. Tea Sea and Urban Road are also likely to enter calculations.
URBAN ROAD's form figures on the all-weather (all at Newcastle) since July read 13123 and he was an unlucky loser on his latest start at the end of October. On that evidence, he remains on a good mark up 1 lb and it also augurs well that he was a C&D winner on his latest visit here during the spring. Fellow C&D winner Sycamore is next on the list ahead of Perfect Swiss, who has slipped to a dangerous mark. Haworth Star is also shortlisted.
The two against the field are last year's winner Perfect Swiss and the unexposed TEA SEA.

1st (9) (15/2 +46%) Royal Musketeer |
15/2(+46%) | (9) Royal Musketeer 15/2, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 33/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good to firm). Off 104 days and others make more appeal. On a dangerous mark but needs to return from a break at the top of his game. |

2nd (2) (14/1 +0%) Novak |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Novak 14/1, Three wins from 17 runs this year. 13/2, ninth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 38 days ago. Record on the AW stands at 1-17 and he looks vulnerable. Failed to fire last time but he's had a good year and he's the type to bounce back quickly. |

3rd (4) (11/4 +21%) Bowood |
11/4(+21%) | (4) Bowood 11/4, Creditable second of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 9/2) 6 days ago, conceding first run. Big player off the same mark. Placed in three of his four AW handicaps, 2nd of 12 on Saturday; still capable of better. |

4th (10) (33/1 -106%) Mr Squires |
33/1(-106%) | (10) Mr Squires 33/1, C&D winner. 20/1, bit below form fourth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f). Off 94 days (gelded in the interim) and he could have a say if on-song. C&D winner; struggled with the handicapper this year; gelded since latest run; opposable. |

5th (12) (40/1 -471%) Reputation |
40/1(-471%) | (12) Reputation 40/1, 12/1, improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 15 days ago, just holding on. Remains on a good mark up 2 lb but his profile he is rather in-and-out. 7f win at Chelmsford this month; needs more in a stronger race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/1 -29%) Khathak |
9/1(-29%) | (1) Khathak 9/1, Temperamental sort. Twelve runs since last win in 2021. Good second of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 11/1) 14 days ago, just failing. That effort represented a step back in the right direction and he will be a threat if able to build on it. Good 2nd at Newcastle (1m) two weeks ago; claims if backing it up but that's not assured. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (6/1 -9%) Masqool |
6/1(-9%) | (11) Masqool 6/1, Course winner. Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap (16/5) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 18 days ago, needing stronger gallop. On the face of it this drop back in trip doesn't look ideal but he will be a threat if they go hard up front. Ran well last time (held up off slow pace) but the drop to 7f asks a different question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (6/1 -118%) Embarked |
6/1(-118%) | (5) Embarked 6/1, Two wins from 5 runs this year. Improved on recent efforts to win 13-runner handicap at Kempton (7f, 3/1) 86 days ago. 9 lb rise asks a question but he's a contender all the same. Easy win at Kempton in September has since been franked; big player despite 9lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (9/2 +55%) Night On Earth |
9/2(+55%) | (3) Night On Earth 9/2, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap (7/2) at Newcastle (5f) 14 days ago. Significantly up in trip and shouldn't be far away. Smart sprinter in his time; on the downgrade and this trip not sure to suit. |

10th (7) (125/1 -150%) Giogiobbo |
125/1(-150%) | (7) Giogiobbo 125/1, Course winner. 66/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 10 days ago. Readily passed over. Well held in three runs back from a long absence; enough to prove and due to drop 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (22/1 +33%) Anif |
22/1(+33%) | (6) Anif 22/1, C&D winner. Tenth of 12 in handicap (22/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 14 days ago. Likely to come up short once again. Conditions to suit and on a good mark; needs to step up on his recent return to action. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (11/1 +8%) At Liberty |
11/1(+8%) | (8) At Liberty 11/1, First run since leaving Michael Bell when bit below form sixth of 12 in handicap at this C&D (9/2) 15 days ago. No more than an each-way squeak. Three wins over 1m2f for former yard; tapped for speed late on over C&D on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KHATHAK is only 1lb higher than his recent close-up second over a mile at Newcastle and compensation could await the four-year-old if proving as effective on his return to 7f. Embarked's Kempton victory in September has worked out well, although a 9lb rise in the ratings will certainly make life tougher for James Fanshawe's gelding. With that in mind, a bigger threat may emerge from fellow in-form rival Bowood.
The vote goes to EMBARKED, who made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts with a decisive display at Kempton and a 9 lb rise may not be enough to stop him in his tracks. Masqool caught the eye at Wolverhampton recently and he should be in the mix, granted a strong pace to aim at. Bowood's turn is surely near and he should also be on the premises.
A 9lb rise might not be enough to prevent EMBARKED (nap) following up his easy Kempton win. Bowood is best of the rest.

28/1(-75%) | (6) No Saint 28/1, 40/1, first run since leaving Michael Bell when eighth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 14 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Still has low mileage and can come on for recent stable debut at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (9/2 -13%) Wilde And Dandy |
9/2(-13%) | (11) Wilde And Dandy 9/2, Latest win at Chelmsford City in November. Creditable second of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Chelmsford City (7f) 11 days ago. Ought to give another good account. Two best runs for this yard have come at Chelmsford; more needed back up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 -60%) Arika |
4/1(-60%) | (5) Arika 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourth of 11 in maiden (4/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 18 days ago, needing stiffer test. Likely improver now handicapping. Unexposed 4yo; sharper for this month's return from long absence; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/2 +45%) Supreme King |
11/2(+45%) | (1) Supreme King 11/2, Tenth of 13 in handicap (20/1) at Chelmsford City (7f) 15 days ago, not much room. Each-way shout if he puts his best foot forward. Capable at this level but he hasn't been at his best the last twice; others safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (33/1 -32%) The Toff |
33/1(-32%) | (9) The Toff 33/1, First run since leaving Charles Hills when eighth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 25/1) 37 days ago, slowly away. Cheekpieces refitted on debut for another new yard here. Chance on his best form but makes his stable debut with something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (9/2 -35%) Admiral Nelson |
9/2(-35%) | (10) Admiral Nelson 9/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 12-runner handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 16/1) on debut for new yard 13 days ago. Remains on a good mark up 4 lb and he's a live contender. Winning stable debut at Newcastle 13 days ago; up 4lb but still has handicapping scope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (8/1 +50%) Motagally |
8/1(+50%) | (4) Motagally 8/1, Unreliable individual. Twenty runs since last win in 2020. 18/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 59 days ago, merely closing up late. Something to find on form. Generally struggled this year but his York second in May came off an 8lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (50/1 +24%) Bobby Shaft |
50/1(+24%) | (8) Bobby Shaft 50/1, Last of 11 in handicap at this C&D (125/1) 28 days ago and he's hard to warm to. Still to prove he retains ability after his mammoth absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Arika offered something to work with when fourth on his reappearance in a maiden at Wolverhampton earlier this month and the son of Speightstown warrants consideration on his handicap bow. Preference, however, is for THAPA VC, who bounced back to form when third at Lingfield recently and a 1lb drop in the ratings is likely to help. Shaw Park and Wilde And Dandy also warrant a second look.
Irish-import ADMIRAL NELSON made a winning start for new connections at Newcastle recently and, still on a handy mark following a 4 lb rise, he is taken to strike again. Arika is open to improvement now pitched into a handicap and is feared most, while Thapa Vc is feasibly treated and enters calculations, too, on the back of a creditable effort at Lingfield earlier this month.
Admiral Nelson is respected but THAPA VC can make his first trip to Southwell a winning one.

1st (9) (10/1 -25%) Fieldsman |
10/1(-25%) | (9) Fieldsman 10/1, C&D winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. Fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 15/2) 18 days ago, going off too hard. C&D winner; ran OK last time but this veteran is likely to find a couple too strong again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 +25%) Liv Lucky |
15/2(+25%) | (7) Liv Lucky 15/2, One win from 26 Flat runs. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 7/1) 18 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Tongue strap on 1st time. Poor strike-rate and patchy overall record but has the form to feature if tongue-tie works. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (9/1 +44%) Stoic Syd |
9/1(+44%) | (10) Stoic Syd 9/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 40/1) 15 days ago. Yet to shine in handicaps and the return to 7f isn't sure to be in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -67%) Little Red Dancer |
5/1(-67%) | (4) Little Red Dancer 5/1, One win from 21 Flat runs. 7/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 15 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Poor striker-rate but she's been banging at the door of late; should be involved again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 +27%) Billy Mcgarry |
8/1(+27%) | (5) Billy Mcgarry 8/1, Seventh of 11 in handicap (17/2) at Newcastle (8f) 52 days ago. Blinkers back on. Turf winner last year; yet to shine for this yard but on a dangerous mark and could revive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/4 +36%) Indie Skies |
9/4(+36%) | (1) Indie Skies 9/4, 22/1, very good second of 13 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 9 days ago. Has good chance on form. Best effort so far when 2nd at Kempton last week; 3lb lower today; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (14/1 -180%) Martini Lodge |
14/1(-180%) | (2) Martini Lodge 14/1, 40/1, very good fourth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 9 days ago. Must improve again. Shaped quite nicely at Kempton last week and that run could bring her on; each-way claims. |

28/1(-12%) | (11) Rockonmecca 28/1, Eighth of 11 in handicap (50/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 18 days ago, not much room. Others more persuasive. 11-race maiden who isn't progressing; others have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (200/1 -400%) Bessah |
200/1(-400%) | (6) Bessah 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 14 in handicap (80/1) at this course (8.1f). Off 9 months. Poor form in four starts, beaten 25l when an 80-1 shot for her handicap debut in March. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
INDIE SKIES posted a respectable second at Kempton recently and the three-year-old must hold every chance off a 3lb lower mark on this quick turnaround. Little Red Dancer has been knocking on the door of late and is likely to make her presence felt once more. Alan Brown's filly is likely to be the main threat ahead of Tom Tulliver, who was far from disgraced on his return here earlier in the month.
INDIE SKIES took quite a big step forward when runner-up at Kempton 9 days ago and has obvious claims off 3 lb lower (due to go up 2 lb). Little Red Dancer has been knocking on the door since returned to AW so is feared most ahead of Bear To Dream.
Little Red Dancer is banging at the door but TOM TULLIVER shaped well on his return to action and gets the narrow verdict.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
