16:15 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SUN DANCER GIRL recorded a third win from her last four starts when on target over 1m6f here in July and with a drop in trip unlikely to be an issue, Andrew Balding's improving filly can defy a 6lb rise in the handicap. Dance Time hit the woodwork over C&D last month and the addition of first-time cheekpieces could eke out some improvement. Cherry Burton is also noted.

An open looking handicap with a chance taken on OBSIDIAN KNIGHT. His exploits have been mixed in recent months yet he returns to an artificial surface lurking on a handy mark and his most recent effort at Windsor is best ignored in isolation. Sugarloaf Lenny and Sun Dancer Girl, who was thriving when last seen, are others to consider.

The vote goes to DANCE TIME who has finished first and second in two goes over C&D, only finding an in-form rival too strong last time.

16:50 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Lost In Time landed a gamble when winning at Yarmouth recently and although he's respected off 4lb higher, KOJIN is preferred. Ian Williams' gelding exploited a sliding handicap mark to score at Wolverhampton eight days ago and a 3lb rise looks well within range. Where Is The Love shaped with promise on her latest outing and is still open to improvement.

WHERE IS THE LOVE arrives easily the least exposed and, having run creditably from a less-than-ideal position when fourth at Wolverhampton 4 weeks ago, she could be the way to go. Last-time-out winners Lost in Time and Kojin are others to consider, with Velvet Vulcan and Bay of Naples others in the mix.

The vote goes to dual C&D winner BOND SPIRIT who has dropped 1lb below his last winning mark.

17:20 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Straight A bounced back in no uncertain terms when winning at Wolverhampton recently. A 5lb rise looks more than fair on that evidence and he can go well, but it is TURBO COMMAND that shades preference. The son of War Command travelled strongly into contention over the mile at Newcastle last time before fading in the closing stages, so the drop to 7f might prove ideal. Scarlet Lady heads the remainder.

STRAIGHT A looked better than ever when going in at Wolverhampton last time and is fancied to make light of a 5 lb rise in the weights. C&D winner Crown's Lady is next on the list, with Turbo Command and Havana Force also well in the mix.

The choice is STRAIGHT A who bounced back to winning ways at Wolverhampton nine days ago. He may have more to offer.

17:50 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Yoshimi struck by half a length in this grade at Chelmsford on his most recent start and holds an obvious chance off 3lb higher. However, it may pay to side with KING OF YORK, who wasn't disgraced in fifth over a mile here last time and goes off an unchanged mark. Currently rated 9lb lower than his last success here in March, Scott Dixon's five-year-old looks well placed to record a third course-and-distance success. Charlie Mason is another to note.

KING OF ITHACA can look a bit ungainly at times but it's reasonable to assume he remains in form having been left poorly placed at Kempton on his most recent outing, so he gets the nod back down in grade. Yoshimi remains well treated on old form following a 3 lb rise for his recent Chelmsford success and is feared most.

King Of York and King Of Ithaca bring sound claims but the well-treated SIR MAXI is taken to gain a first win for Sam England.

18:20 Southwell Maiden (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SKY ADVOCATE failed to land the odds when hitting the crossbar over this trip at Wolverhampton last time, but he sets a lofty standard in this contest with a rating of 88. The son of Inns Of Court might only need to produce a repeat of that display in order to get off the mark. Chelsea Old Church shaped with promise in third on his debut at Chester in August and should go well, while Kempton runner-up Pave The Way is another to take seriously.

SKY ADVOCATE is holding his form well and could be hard to beat. My Mate Beattie probably should have won at Leicester and has strong claims. Pave The Way and newcomer Tsarinas Song are also considered.

This looks a good opportunity for SKY ADVOCATE who sets a useful standard on his three performances so far.

18:50 Southwell Handicap (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

After winning at York in May, JUBILEE WALK failed to justify favouritism in a hot handicap at Ascot in June, but the performance is worth an upgrade as he may have been disadvantaged by racing on the unfavoured side of the track. James Ferguson's three-year-old goes off the same mark and might be able to regain the winning thread with less on his plate today. First Folio made every yard of the running to score at this level at Yarmouth in September and would be foolish to dismiss off 4lb higher. Navello is a player based on his victory at Wolverhampton two starts ago.

Lightly-raced 3-y-o JUBILEE WALK is taken to resume his progression after a break. King's Lynn has run well to be placed on all 3 AW starts and is second choice ahead of Rousing Encore, Intervention and Chief Manikato in quite a useful sprint handicap.

He may be up in class but ROUSING ENCORE (nap) looked in fine fettle when winning at Ayr last month. King's Lynn can chase him home

19:25 Southwell Handicap (Class 2) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A two-time winner over C&D, SARDINIAN WARRIOR impressed when readily making all here last month and it would be no surprise if he were able to bring up a hat-trick now making his handicap debut. Savvy Victory was readily outclassed in a Newmarket Group 3 over 1m1f when last seen but, eased in grade and sporting first-time cheekpieces, he should not be dismissed lightly. Silver Sword wasn't disgraced when finishing down the field in the Cambridgeshire on his penultimate start and, on the back of an neck second over a mile at Kempton most recently, he merits consideration off 2lb higher.

SARDINIAN WARRIOR looked a Group horse in the making when bolting up over C&D last time and he can prove himself better than an opening mark of 97. The thriving Kalamunda should go well and Silver Sword is likely to put up another solid showing.

Preference is for the lightly raced SARDINIAN WARRIOR who is 2-2 over C&D. It's hard to say at this stage just how good he is.

20:00 Southwell Maiden (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CARBINE HARVESTER showed plenty of early toe before fading into fourth over 6f in testing ground at Nottingham on his second start last month. Now eased in trip, William Haggas' two-year-old gets the nod to land the spoils in what looks a winnable affair. Mae Amor was last seen finishing second over this trip at Thirsk in August and a bold bid in first-time cheekpieces is expected, while Dothan is also considered.

MAE AMOR failed to land cramped odds when last seen at Thirsk in August but the pick of her form gives her sound claims back from a 3-month break and she's narrowly selected to come out on top with cheekpieces now reached for. Just King High and Dothan head up the dangers, ahead of Carbine Harvester.

Just High King and DOTHAN make some appeal and the latter is marginally preferred now dropped to 5f.

20:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DRIFTS AWAY showed a likeable attitude when making all over a mile at Chelmsford on his second start in a handicap recently and, off 3lb higher, he looks capable of landing a double. A 1lb rise for a recent runner-up effort over an extended mile at Wolverhampton doesn't discount Juan Cool Dude, while Kessaar Power was on target over this trip at Chelmsford last month and merits consideration off 5lb higher.

This is wide open so it is worth siding with HIGH COURT JUDGE to build on an encouraging start for James Owen and resume winning ways. Drifts Away rates a big threat on the back of his recent Chelmsford victory, while Juan Cool Dude, Triple Force and Flying Panther all need factoring in too.

The selection is TRIPLE FORCE who put up one of his best efforts when chasing home a subsequent winner over C&D in September.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
