16:05 Southwell Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Cymbidium was on target over the mile at Thirsk before perhaps being unsuited by a drop in trip at Ayr. David O'Meara's filly remains on the same mark and must be of interest, but preference is for WILTSHIRE LAD. The son of Wootton Bassett contested a few useful novice/maiden events and an opening mark of 78 could prove lenient on that evidence. He will appreciate a step up in trip and is fancied to make a winning nursery debut. Veraison is also noted.

Having landed a few bets on nursery debut at Thirsk, the drop to 7.2f looked against CYMBIDIUM at Ayr and he's fancied to resume his progress back over 1m switched to the AW. Mayor of Maghera doesn't have much to find with the selection so is second choice, ahead of Wiltshire Lad, who is a potential improver in headgear for a top yard.

This return to 1m looks sure to suit CYMBIDIUM (nap) if she takes to the AW. Wiltshire Lad is feared most.

16:40 Southwell Stakes (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sardinian Warrior was an impressive winner over C&D in April and, though respected under the penalty, he might find it difficult conceding weight to the Roger Varian-trained TAWAJJAH. The son of Frankel pushed a now 87-rated rival all the way on his comeback at Windsor last month and, with improvement likely, he can go one place better. Warm Response appeals most of the newcomers.

This looks between TAWAJJAH and Sardinian Warrior, with marginal preference for the former who went close on his belated seasonal reappearance at Windsor and there should be plenty more to come from him. Corundum stepped up on his debut when putting in good late work to finish third over C&D last month and he can be expected to pick up a race sooner rather than later. Newcomer Warm Response will be of interest if the market speaks in his favour.

This can go to SARDINIAN WARRIOR who had Group-race aspirations in the spring and was a wide-margin winner over C&D in April.

17:15 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Dropping in class could unlock a winning run from INHERIT, who was a respectable third on her only previous appearance here in August. The daughter of Kingman has been dropped 2lb since her latest start and this looks an ideal opening for her to strike gold for the first time. Marianglas is feared from just 5lb higher than her recent Newcastle success, while Go Wild is another low-milage contender who appeals on her handicap debut after a novice success over 1m at Lingfield.

Having shaped well in a trio of maidens, TIANITA appeals as the type to show herself in a better light now venturing down the handicap route and she shades preference ahead of recent Newcastle scorer Marianglas. Go Wild and Disclosure are, like the selection, interesting handicap debutantes, particularly the former who opened her account at the third attempt at Lingfield last month. Rawaasi is also worth a second look.

Preference is for class-dropper INHERIT, who has dropped another 2lb since her very respectable fifth at Kempton a fortnight ago.

17:45 Southwell Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GRESSINGTON, a C&D winner on his racecourse debut last September, did what was required to win with first-time blinkers added over 6f at Redcar last month and should be progressive enough to cope with a 3lb higher mark here. Unexposed three-year-old Murashah is an appealing alternative on these terms and commands respect on his Tapeta debut. Grand Karat and Serenity Dream are others with each-way appeal.

There should be better to come from MURASHAH, who found just one too good in a big field on his handicap debut at Newbury where he encountered traffic problems at a crucial stage. Though Mustajaab recent form figures don't look particularly pretty, he has been contesting higher-grade handicaps than this and the 4-y-o is of strong interest back on this surface where he has a 100% record. Grand Karat is third choice.

Mustajaab is 2-2 over C&D and should do better but MURASHAH is open to most improvement following a solid handicap debut.

18:15 Southwell Handicap (Class 3) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The longer trip was forwarded as a possible explanation for a below-par run from HIGH ORDER at Doncaster when he was last seen and, having been given plenty of time since then, the son of Frankel can get back on the right path. A C&D winner on his penultimate start, it is way too early to give up on the selection and he can make the most of a 2lb drop. Cracksking and Wonder Legend are other strong contenders.

WONDER LEGEND isn't fully exposed and got back on the up when runner-up at Kempton last month, so he's worth a chance to go one better at the possible expense of Youthful King, who scored at Lingfield last time. Solomon needs to put a poor run behind him but the return to this track is in his favour.

Topweight WONDER LEGEND gave a very good account when second at Kempton last month and may still have a bigger run in him.

18:45 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BUZZ BOX is open to plenty of improvement and is an attractive proposition back over 6f. A winner over this trip on his penultimate start, the son of Adaay is on a highly workable mark for just his second run in a handicap and, from a handy draw, there is a lot to like. Last-time-out winners Coup De Force and Four Adaay are taken seriously, but perhaps Starproof can make the most of being back on a winning mark to pose the biggest threat to the selection.

FISCAL POLICY is going the right way and was clear of the others with the runner-up at Pontefract last time, so the 3-lb rise might not be enough to stop him going in again. Fellow last-time-out winner Coup de Force is a threat and Gundogan isn't without hope.

Now 3-6 on the AW and a course winner in 2022, COUP DE FORCE ticks plenty of boxes for her in-form yard. Buzz Box is next best.

19:15 Southwell Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Genius Mistake certainly outran her odds to just be denied on debut over 5f at Beverley last month and, with normal progression, she could have a say. However, MAUI BREEZE looks the one to be on. Charlie Fellowes' juvenile showed a fair amount of ability when fifth on her debut at Windsor before shaping with even more promise to finish third at Newbury on her latest outing. Maids Head is another to keep an eye on.

A chance is taken on James Tate newcomer BLUE DANDY, with confidence in her increased should the betting vibes be strong. Rogue Sensation may provide the chief threat if bouncing back to her debut form. Maui Breeze and Genius Mistake are others with the form to figure.

It might pay to give another chance to ROGUE SENSATION, who disappointed on her second start but made a very promising debut.

19:45 Southwell Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BOUVIER failed to fire in a Group 2 event at Deauville in August but, prior to that, she was only beaten by a neck into second behind a subsequent Group 3 winner at Goodwood. The daughter of Invincible Spirit sets a lofty standard with a rating of 84 and is tough to oppose. Hala Blue had a nice introduction when making the frame at Lingfield last month, while Perfect Dark is another to note.

BOUVIER possesses much the best form on show so is fancied to get off the mark now dropped back in class. Both Perfect Dark and Hala Blue have better days ahead of them and can chase home Dr Newland's fairly useful filly in that order.

Bouvier and PERFECT DARK appeal most and the latter still looked to be learning her job when keeping on well for third at Kempton.

20:15 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

APOSTLE may have benefitted from a soft lead to run out a two-length victor at Wolverhampton last time, but a 3lb rise for that success still looks kind. Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-old is improving at a rapid rate of knots and she could prove tough to beat. Caballo De Mar struck by just under a length in this grade at Ayr last time and looks the main threat, while Dark Mystery completes the shortlist.

APOSTLE made it 2 wins from her last 3 outings when dictating matters at Wolverhampton last week and Sir Mark Prescott's filly can make light of a 3 lb rise as the expense of Eagle's Realm, who won over C&D last winter and arrives fit from a couple of spins over hurdles. Caballo de Mar finally turned a frame finish into a first win last month, so he completes the shortlist.

Apostle isn't taken on lightly but CABALLO DE MAR could yet be capable of better over this trip and is preferred.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
