(4) Line Of Descent 1.88/1, Has taken well to fences, winning handicaps at Stratford and Cartmel in recent months. Had his winning run ended at 2 but again ran well on the back on an 8 lb rise when runner-up at Uttoxeter (20f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Looks sure to go well again.
Two wins this spring and probably no disgrace in latest defeat; live contender.

(3) Glajou 9/1, Fair chaser but he's not the most straightforward. Cashed in on a reduced mark at Worcester last summer but not scaled same heights on 4 of his 5 starts since, finding little at Worcester at Ffos Las (16f, good) 30 days ago. Remains easy to oppose.
Won off 4lb higher last August but no real danger since; up in trip.

13:55 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Do No Wrong couldn't live up to his name last time when falling at the 11th fence at Bangor over 3m. However, if he can reproduce the form of his penultimate effort at Cartmel, then he ought to go close. However, the vote goes to ANNIE NAIL, who was only beaten just over three lengths into second last time at Uttoxeter in this grade. Line Of Descent isn't ruled out either.

LINE OF DESCENT was denied the hat-trick by a thriving sort at Uttoxeter 9 days ago, but this looks a good opportunity for Warren Greatrex's 5-y-o to regain the winning thread at the expense of Do No Wrong, who scored over fences second time up and is fancied to get back of track having taken a spill mid-race at Bangor last time. Annie Nail looks best of the remainder.

The in-form Line Of Descent may not cope with the progressive DO NO WRONG.

Has proved rather disappointing in Britain; stable debut after being bought for £6,500.
LTO Selection:

14:25 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GETAWAY JEWEL was only denied by just over two lengths on his latest outing at Newcastle and he was put up 3lb for that effort, which may not be enough to prevent him from recording his fourth career success. Another to consider is Jet Of Dreams, who failed to fire over 2m4f last time but now drops in trip, which could prove a positive move. Uncle O completes the shortlist.

Successful on his sole outing in Irish points, JET OF DREAMS showed promise in 4 starts over hurdles and he remains with potential now sent handicapping on his chase debut. The 5-y-o is taken to open his account under Rules, though Getaway Jewel isn't taken lightly having returned to form under Brian Hughes last time. The Cathal Don is the pick of the remainder.

Chasing newcomer JET OF DREAMS looks open to a deal of progress.

15:00 Southwell NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Gladys Eva Jane filled the runner-up spot at Ffos Las on her latest outing and that puts her well in contention against this level of opposition, but a chance can be taken on RICCIRELLA, who finished behind a potentially nice type in Aston Martini on her second bumper start and is likely to improve further. Any market support for Upbeat Betty should also be noted.

GLADYS EVA JANE showed improvement when runner-up at Ffos Las and another step forward should be enough for her to open her account at the likely expense of Riccirella. Amelia Marianne is worth monitoring in the betting on debut.

The ex-Irish CAST A SPELL can make a winning debut in Britain.

LTO Selection:

15:30 Southwell Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ABSOLUTE RULER didn't lose much in defeat when giving weight away and not beaten far at Ffos Las earlier in the month, and this looks like an ideal opportunity to make it two wins from four in this sphere. The Galahad Kid comes here with an unbeaten record under Rules but this is tougher on his hurdles bow, while Definite is another to consider for his in-form connections.

THE GALAHAD KID looked useful when winning 2 bumpers last summer and is taken to make a successful start to his hurdle career, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Absolute Ruler is second choice ahead of Definite.

The proven hurdling form of ABSOLUTE RULER gives him the edge over The Galahad Kid.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It is difficult to look past CLODY FLYER, who has been a comfortable winner on his last two starts and a mark of 109 could prove lenient on his handicap debut. With ground conditions in his favour as well, he should have too much for the likes of The Grey Falco and No Recollection, who bounced back to winning ways at Worcester recently.

This looks quite a good opportunity for CLODY FLYER to extend his winning run to 3 now moving into handicap company for the first time. Recent Worcester scorer No Recollection can give him most to do.

Handicap debutant CLODY FLYER looks to be on a mark that will enable him to carry on the good work.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SYLVIES DANCE got off the mark when making her return under Rules at Newton Abbot earlier in the month and the nine-year-old could have more to offer now in handicap company for the first time. Kym Eyre has been running consistently well over fences in recent months and remains unexposed over the smaller obstacles, especially up in trip. The booking of Harry Cobden for Blackhillsofdakota is also interesting.

BROOMFIELDS CAVE is unexposed as a stayer and in a race in which most have a lot to prove he's very much the percentage call. Kym Eyre is offered as the main danger back hurdling.

A competitive event can go to the relatively unexposed BROOMFIELDS CAVE (nap). Kym Eyre is next best.

17:00 Southwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

IVETWIGGEDIT was very progressive earlier in the year having landing a hat-trick, going up 24lb in the process, before disappointing when last seen at Musselburgh in March. She clearly relishes a sound surface and is worth a chance to bounce back from that display. Highland Frolic has been running well off this mark of late and merits respect, with Let Me Be, who drops in trip, and St Patricks Bridge appealing most of the remainder.

Though yet to trouble the judge in this sphere, bumper-winner BOBBY SOCKS took a step in the right direction over 15.8f here when returning from a break, leaving the impression that this stiffer test will be in his favour. Ivetwiggedit was well held bidding for the four-timer at Musselburgh but excuses have emerged for that heavy defeat and she will be a threat back down in class if coping with this step up in trip. The 4-y-o Highland Frolic and C&D winner Supreme Yeats are others to consider.

After an encouraging effort over 2m here this month, BOBBY SOCKS can gain a first hurdle success.
