1st (6) (7/2 -5%) Prince Cleni |
7/2(-5%) | (6) Prince Cleni 7/2, Little form over hurdles but did well over fences at the start of last summer, runner-up at Uttoxeter before going one better in this race off current mark. Lost his form after until back to form at Fontwell 16 days ago, just failing. High on shortlist. Won this by 6l off today's mark in 2023 and bounced back to form with big run last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/4 -10%) Big Bee Hive |
11/4(-10%) | (1) Big Bee Hive 11/4, Hurdles winner in Ireland who made perfect start over fences when scoring at Sedgefield (19.3f) in February. Improved again when quickly resuming winning ways at Southwell/Cartmel last month and his style of racing (deep closer) is making it hard for the handicapper to take his measure. Finished well to score at Cartmel last month and is now 3-4 over fences; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (15/2 +32%) Eightytwo Team |
15/2(+32%) | (8) Eightytwo Team 15/2, Ex-Irish who finally got off the mark equipped with a first-time tongue tie over C&D last summer. Added to patchy record next 2 starts but did shape as if back in form after 8 months off when third at Fontwell 5 weeks ago. C&D winner last summer and also ran well last month but is not one to rely upon heavily. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (14/1 +36%) Conceal |
14/1(+36%) | (7) Conceal 14/1, Won at Uttoxeter in autumn 2022 but more lows than highs since, his last 2 efforts particularly poor. Has very mixed record since shock win in 2022; not the percentage call. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (4/1 -14%) Dusautior |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Dusautior 4/1, No show in 3 starts over hurdles (all at 2m) but this former winning pointer has predictably improved upped in trip and switched to fences the last twice, latterly opening his account at Bangor (3m, soft). 4 lb rise fair and likely to be in the mix. Battled on well for narrow win at Bangor in April and still has low mileage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (100/1 -257%) Out For Justice |
100/1(-257%) | (9) Out For Justice 100/1, Poor handicap chaser nowadays who offered little both starts after 19 months off earlier in the year. 3 lb out of handicap. Well beaten on both starts since a long absence; today's longer trip should suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (28/1 -40%) Guguss Collonges |
28/1(-40%) | (5) Guguss Collonges 28/1, Successful over fences at Stratford (22.6f) and Lingfield (23.5f) in November. However, has run poorly on his last 3 starts, so needs to get back on track. Dual chase winner in November but pulled up on all three outings this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (400/1 -8789%) Annie Wicks |
400/1(-8789%) | (4) Annie Wicks 400/1, Well held completed starts over hurdles but proved a different proposition on second chase start when landing 11-runner mares' handicap at Taunton (21.7f, soft) in March, drawing clear from 3 out. Collared only in the run-in when upped in trip at Hereford since and big shout back down in distance, Followed Taunton win with good second at Hereford; big player if okay going left-handed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (450/1 -1264%) Mance Rayder |
450/1(-1264%) | (3) Mance Rayder 450/1, Winless since 2021 and he was pulled up back from another break at Hexham last month. Plenty to prove. Pulled up on last two appearances and needs to prove he still has fire in his belly. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BIG BEE HIVE arrives here having won three of his last four starts and a 5lb rise for the most recent of those victories at Cartmel may not be enough to stop him in this company. Dusautior is an obvious threat following his success at Bangor in April, while Annie Wicks and Prince Cleni are others who merit places on the shortlist.
A few to consider but PRINCE CLENI bounced back to form when just failing at Fontwell and another big run looks on the cards having won this race last year off the same mark. Dusautior showed plenty of guts when making all at Bangor and remains unexposed, while Big Bee Hive and Annie Wicks are both thriving currently.
Prince Cleni won this in 2023 but preference is for BIG BEE HIVE, who has made very good progress since switched to chasing.

1st (2) (6/4 +40%) Hyland |
6/4(+40%) | (2) Hyland 6/4, Useful handicap hurdler, successful at up to 3m at Warwick and Cheltenham (20-runner contest, by 2 lengths from Judicial Law) in October. Switches to chasing now for top yard and leading claims. Useful hurdler who looked as good as ever last month; makes chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (25/1 -285%) Mahons Glory |
25/1(-285%) | (1) Mahons Glory 25/1, Useful effort to win a 21f Kempton handicap hurdle on Boxing Day. No reason why he won't take to chasing back from a breathing operation and one to note. Good hurdle winner at Kempton on Boxing Day but has a bit to prove on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (20/1 -150%) Santonito |
20/1(-150%) | (6) Santonito 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler for Gordon Elliott and made an encouraging start for new yard when third in 3m Uttoxeter handicap chase recently. Player if building on that back in trip. Kept on for respectable third on stable debut; a possible if building on that run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (350/1 -7678%) Itso Fury |
350/1(-7678%) | (4) Itso Fury 350/1, Useful handicap hurdler, won at Wincanton over this trip in November. Given a break since a poor run at Ascot in March and will probably need to improve now chasing. 3-9 over hurdles; not obviously well handicapped for chasing debut but could have a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (10/1 -233%) Way Out |
10/1(-233%) | (5) Way Out 10/1, Three-time winner over hurdles who has upped his game since switched to this sphere, second at Warwick over this trip before unseating fourth at Fakenham last time. Good claims on pick of his efforts. Placed in two good handicaps in the autumn and went close in a novice last month; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (350/1 -6264%) Party Business |
350/1(-6264%) | (3) Party Business 350/1, Useful hurdler who ran another good race in the Haydock Long Distance Handicap Hurdle last month. Should take to chasing but might find this test on the sharp side (thorough stayer). Fifth in to good handicap hurdles this spring; won't be far away if he takes to fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
WAY OUT unseated his rider when favourite at Fakenham when last seen, but the seven-year-old can be given another chance based on his previous second at Warwick in May. Hyland contested some very competitive handicap hurdles last season and should not be underestimated on his chasing bow, while Itso Fury edges out Party Business and Mahons Glory to be best of the rest.
HYLAND is a talented hurdler who could do well now sent chasing and is taken to make a winning start in this sphere. Way Out is a big player on the pick of his form, while Mahons Glory could also make his presence felt if taking to this new game.
Hyland might be dangerous but WAY OUT (nap) has some good placed form over fences on his CV and can open his account today.

Dream Jet |
(3) (8/1 -23%)8/1(-23%) | (3) Dream Jet 8/1, Placed in an Irish point and left his previous form under Rules behind when landing a Stratford maiden hurdle in August. Ran respectably in this sphere when fifth in Sedgefield handicap (17f, good) latest and would be a player if able to build on that. Ran well for a long way at Sedgefield last month but is yet to be placed over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (17/2 -31%) Neigh Botha |
17/2(-31%) | (5) Neigh Botha 17/2, Winner of sole bumper start in February 2022 and best effort for current yard came when third on chase debut at Sedgefield (19.3f) in October. Not built on that but returns from a break here and has been cut plenty of slack by the handicapper. Cheekpieces back on. Had mixed record and some jumping issues in the autumn but resumes on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 -29%) Abaya Du Mathan |
9/2(-29%) | (2) Abaya Du Mathan 9/2, Has done well since joining current connections, winner of a match over C&D in January and 12-runner handicap chase at Warwick in April. Posted solid fourth in stronger contest here last week and is one for shortlist. Long in the tooth now but ran well here a week ago and won't mind if there's rain about. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (16/1 -167%) Guillaume |
16/1(-167%) | (4) Guillaume 16/1, Made the most of what ended up a good opportunity to get off the mark under Rules at Catterick in December. Tame efforts both subsequent starts, though. Ended 2023 with win at Catterick and has excuses for both defeats this year; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (125/1 -942%) Rafferty |
125/1(-942%) | (7) Rafferty 125/1, Fair chaser at best, winning twice in 2021/22. Disappointing since, though, including back over the smaller obstacles at Fakenham latest. Cheekpieces reapplied. Regressive 10yo who has been out of form over hurdles and fences for a good while now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (350/1 -961%) Lonimoss Bareliere |
350/1(-961%) | (11) Lonimoss Bareliere 350/1, Long-standing maiden. Bled when pulled up in handicap chase at Hereford 63 days ago and remains hard to recommend. 5 lb out of the weights. Pulled up on last two appearances and now 0-33 under all codes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (300/1 -2400%) We Got Your Back |
300/1(-2400%) | (6) We Got Your Back 300/1, Winless following half-a-dozen attempts over hurdles but was runner-up twice here in handicaps earlier this year. However, offered little on chasing bow at this course last week. Second twice over hurdles here this year but never competitive on recent chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (125/1 -1289%) Man Of Light |
125/1(-1289%) | (8) Man Of Light 125/1, Modest winner at 17f over hurdles but suffered a heavy fall on chase debut at Taunton in March and he's finished well held in a couple of handicaps at Exeter/Ffos Las since. Tried in headgear now. Very well handicapped on some of his hurdling form but has basically become disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (400/1 -7173%) Minella Choice |
400/1(-7173%) | (1) Minella Choice 400/1, Shaped well on his return/chasing debut at Ludlow in December but not been in same form since (reportedly bled for second time at Market Rasen in March). Clearly comes with risks attached at moment. Creditable third on chasing debut but yet to build on that run; bled on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (400/1 -4900%) Berliet Express |
400/1(-4900%) | (9) Berliet Express 400/1, Still looking for first success over fences but not disgraced the last twice and has had a wind operation since his last start at Catterick in February. Enters calculations. Began year with two decent efforts; a possible if subsequent wind op aids finishing effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (450/1 -5525%) Pencil |
450/1(-5525%) | (10) Pencil 450/1, Still looking for first victory but ran creditably, back from 5 months off, when fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Fontwell (19.5f, good) 26 days ago. Claims if building on that. 1 lb out of the weights. Ran quite well last month, after a break, but needs to find something extra here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A respectable fourth over C&D last time out, where errant jumping cost him, ABAYA DU MATHAN looks the one to be with dropping in grade, having scored comfortably at Warwick in April off 3lb lower. Minella Choice has yet to get it together over fences but remains unexposed, while Neigh Botha wasn't beaten too far when switching to hurdles at Newcastle when last in action.
ABAYA DU MATHAN arrives in good form and can take advantage of a drop back in grade here. Sean Bowen is an eye-catching booking for Berliet Express and is worth monitoring in the market, whilst Pencil can also make his presence felt.
It's hard to build a robust case for any of these but NEIGH BOTHA is handicapped to win if his autumn jumping issues do not resurface.

Sanitiser |
(4) (9/2 -29%)9/2(-29%) | (4) Sanitiser 9/2, Fairly useful handicapper on the Flat. Yet to strike over hurdles but has been knocking on the door in similar company this spring and should figure prominently again here. Flat winner; threatened a few times over hurdles but he will need goodish ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (10/3 +49%) Shinji |
10/3(+49%) | (2) Shinji 10/3, Fairly useful bumper winner but yet to better modest form over hurdles, finishing sixth on his completed start in handicaps. Improvement needed. Has the form to feature should he bounce back from just an okay effort at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 +17%) Dog Fox |
5/1(+17%) | (5) Dog Fox 5/1, Fairly useful 1¼m Flat winner for Ed Dunlop. Has shown an aptitude for hurdling this spring and interesting now switching to handicaps. 1m2f winner; has made a reasonably promising start over hurdles and now goes handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (33/1 -230%) City Of Ruins |
33/1(-230%) | (7) City Of Ruins 33/1, Promise in juvenile hurdles for Donald McCain last summer. Returns for a new stable from a handicap mark which looks workable. Interesting to see what the betting makes of him. Ability in three runs for former yard; new trainer sends him straight into a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (22/1 -83%) Thats Jet |
22/1(-83%) | (6) Thats Jet 22/1, Runner-up in a Killarney maiden last summer (final start for Ross O'Sullivan) but hasn't matched that in 4 starts since coming to Britain, including on handicap debut last time. Slipping down the weights and cheekpieces are added; could stage a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (150/1 -1567%) Zhang Fei |
150/1(-1567%) | (9) Zhang Fei 150/1, Fair winner on Flat and potential improver for his leading stable now handicapping for the first time over hurdles. Well beaten in three non-handicap hurdles on good to soft; sole Flat win came on quicker. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (125/1 -1289%) Morandi Second |
125/1(-1289%) | (10) Morandi Second 125/1, Second of 17 in 2m Doncaster handicap hurdle in January 2023 but has largely struggled since, beaten when unseating 3 out in a chase when last seen 6 months ago. Brian Hughes up but could only consider if backed. Bit to prove but five runs back (January 2023) he was second of 17 off a 10lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (100/1 -900%) Captain's Pick |
100/1(-900%) | (3) Captain's Pick 100/1, Runner-up in a bumper in Ireland last summer but hasn't achieved a great deal in a bumper and 4 starts over hurdles in Britain, including a remote fifth on 2½m Worcester handicap debut 10 days ago. Back down in trip. Handicap debut forgettable but we know he's capable of better form than that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (400/1 -3233%) Jysuis |
400/1(-3233%) | (8) Jysuis 400/1, Fair form when placed all 3 starts in bumpers in France. Has raced too keenly when comfortably held in maiden hurdles since coming to Britain. Needs to learn to settle better if he's to take a step forward now handicapping. Tongue tied first time. Best run yet over hurdles when beaten 12l in a good-ground maiden here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (300/1 -2900%) Alright Dai |
300/1(-2900%) | (13) Alright Dai 300/1, Made the frame in a trio of bumpers for Dan Skelton but yet to better poor form over hurdles, including a never-dangerous sixth on heavy-ground Uttoxeter handicap debut when last seen in December. Still early days and perhaps a return to a sounder surface will help back from a break. Best form was in bumpers but wasn't far away on heavy-ground handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (350/1 -1300%) My Mate Polly |
350/1(-1300%) | (14) My Mate Polly 350/1, No promise in bumpers and poor form over hurdles. Not hard to look elsewhere. Beaten about 15l in uncompetitive mares' hurdles in two of her last three appearances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (300/1 -2043%) Sunset In Paris |
300/1(-2043%) | (11) Sunset In Paris 300/1, Three AW Flat wins at a low level over the winter. Best effort over hurdles when fourth in 2m Huntingdon maiden 15 days ago and handicaps should provide him with a more realistic chance of success. Three 1m2f AW wins; some promise over hurdles but can be keen and has to be ridden cold. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (100/1 -1011%) Martin Spirit |
100/1(-1011%) | (12) Martin Spirit 100/1, Winner over fences in France and, having had a wind op, opened his hurdles account with a comfortable success at Plumpton in March. Hasn't reproduced that since, including only seventh on Flat last time. March's clearcut win off 4lb higher was on soft ground and may prefer those conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (400/1 -1500%) Montys Rock |
400/1(-1500%) | (1) Montys Rock 400/1, Reached the frame in maiden hurdles in Ireland for Eoin Doyle. Off for 13 months ahead of this handicap debut for new connections. The betting should help guide to expectations. Bought for £25,000 after four runs in Ireland, showing ability in maidens. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SANITISER may still be a maiden through eight starts over hurdles, but recent efforts at Hereford and Huntingdon suggest that he may be about to change that. Conditions are in his favour once again and the five-year-old gets the vote ahead of promising Chepstow third Dog Fox and City Of Ruins, who must be monitored for market support on his first run for new connections.
SANITISER has been consistent this spring and can get his head in front for the first time over hurdles now. The main opposition may be provided by Dog Fox and Zhang Fei, who hail from good stables and appeal as potential improvers now moving into handicap company over hurdles.
This looks very open. ALRIGHT DAI earns marginal preference as it wasn't a bad handicap debut on testing ground.

1st (2) (10/1 +50%) Catchim |
10/1(+50%) | (2) Catchim 10/1, €72,000 3-y-o, £3,000 6-y-o, Doyen gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Ballycoose, stays 3m, and poor hurdler The Bandit. Dam unraced. Made frame all 5 completed starts in points (latest Apr 21). Wears tongue strap for Rules debut (also had breathing op). Displayed significant ability in points but is probably best watched on this rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 -100%) Chancycourt |
4/1(-100%) | (3) Chancycourt 4/1, Third in an Irish point before shaping well when second in a Worcester bumper (heavy) in October 2021. Very lightly raced over hurdles since, though was going as well as any bar the winner when coming down 3 out on his handicap debut at Ffos Las 12 days ago. Obvious contender back in maiden company. Seemed to be moving into contention before falling on handicap debut; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (400/1 -9900%) Electric Jet |
400/1(-9900%) | (4) Electric Jet 400/1, Placed in points and made the frame on 2 of his 3 starts in maiden hurdles. Fell heavily first on his handicap debut at Bangor 2 weeks ago but has claims if none the worse. Made frame on two of first three hurdling starts; early faller on recent handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) (400/1 -1500%) Amberelli |
400/1(-1500%) | (14) Amberelli 400/1, 14/1, shaped as if needing the run when ninth of 13 in novice hurdle at this course (15.8f, good to soft) on debut 28 days ago. Up in trip. Made low-key debut when ninth of 13 over 2m here four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (400/1 -1500%) Cocco Madonna |
400/1(-1500%) | (13) Cocco Madonna 400/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers 3 months apart. Tongue tied for hurdle debut. Safely held in two mares' bumpers this year; makes hurdling debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -4900%) Matchadam |
150/1(-4900%) | (6) Matchadam 150/1, Picked up for £50,000 after getting on top close home in his sole point last November. Tongue tied and showed promise when fourth of 13 in a Hereford bumper on Rules debut 7 months ago. Upped in trip for hurdle bow and one to consider. Point winner; close fourth in Hereford bumper on rules debut in October; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (400/1 -1500%) Happy County |
400/1(-1500%) | (5) Happy County 400/1, Will be better off in low-grade handicaps in due course. Achieved very little when fourth of six in thin race at Market Rasen last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (350/1 -3400%) Solution |
350/1(-3400%) | (12) Solution 350/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat who showed some aptitude for hurdling when fourth in a maiden at Plumpton last month. Should build on that, so not a forlorn hope. Safely held when fourth on stable/hurdle debut but Flat form makes him of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (350/1 -3400%) Noble Cave |
350/1(-3400%) | (8) Noble Cave 350/1, Proved very green when pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Warwick (19f, good) on debut 47 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. With a top stable but flopped badly on debut; now sports cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (200/1 -3233%) Montys Soldier |
200/1(-3233%) | (7) Montys Soldier 200/1, Easy winner of sole start in Irish points. Showed promise on his only outing in bumpers for Michael Scudamore and has shaped with some encouragement both starts over hurdles. Step up in trip a plus but may be one for handicaps after this. Remote when making the frame in first two hurdles but still has significant potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (350/1 -1300%) Passwidenslow |
350/1(-1300%) | (10) Passwidenslow 350/1, Schiaparelli gelding. Dam well held in bumpers/maiden hurdle. Makes little appeal on paper. Third foal; dam well beaten bumpers/2m1f hurdle; makes belated debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (350/1 -430%) Wheresmemoneygone |
350/1(-430%) | (11) Wheresmemoneygone 350/1, €20,000 3-y-o, £4,000 5-y-o, Champs Elysees gelding. Closely related to 2 winners, including fair hurdler Dusky Raider, stayed 19f. Dam unraced. Finished a well-held fourth on completed start in Irish points (May 5). Bought for £4,000 after remote fourth in Irish point last month; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (400/1 -1112%) No Promises |
400/1(-1112%) | (9) No Promises 400/1, Showed little in a bumper/maiden hurdle in 2021. Successful in points since but pulled up last time (Nov 22). Maiden point winner in June 2022; off since pulled up in restricted point later that year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (400/1 -506%) Castlecomer Bill |
400/1(-506%) | (1) Castlecomer Bill 400/1, Looks one for handicaps after this run. Well beaten in a bumper and on first two hurdling starts (2m3f/2m1f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CHANCYCOURT still looked to be going well when falling three out at Ffos Las on his handicap debut recently, and Fergal O'Brien's charge may be able to gain compensation back in maiden company. Electric Jet would have strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate effort at Fontwell, while Matchadam is interesting on his hurdles bow having shaped well in a bumper at Hereford last October.
CHANCYCOURT clearly isn't the easiest to train, but he was going as well as any bar the well-treated winner when coming down 3 out on his handicap debut at Ffos Las 12 days ago and is the percentage call back in maiden company. Matchadam showed promise on his sole outing in bumpers and is bred to be suited by the step up in trip on hurdle debut, with Electric Jet another to consider.
Not much has gone to plan for CHANCYCOURT since his promising bumper debut in 2021 but this looks a good opportunity for him to strike.

(10) (50/1 -150%)50/1(-150%) | (10) Misscarlett 50/1, Losing run stretches back to 2021 and she ran some way below her best with a spin on the Flat under her belt when seventh of 9 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (23.3f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Others preferred operating from out of the weights. Safely held at Hexham last month and remains without a win since 2021; 5lb wrong here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (5/2 -11%) Bethpage |
5/2(-11%) | (1) Bethpage 5/2, 6-y-o mare who showed improved form to make a winning handicap debut at Fontwell (17.7f) in April and she progressed again stepped up in trip when scoring in good style at Ludlow (21.2f) last month. 4 lb rise for that looks fair and she's a live player in hat-trick bid. 2-2 since switched to handicaps this spring and might still be on the upgrade; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/2 +7%) Auditoria |
13/2(+7%) | (3) Auditoria 13/2, Hurdles/chase winner. Failed to complete on last 2 starts over fences last season but not for the first time failed to convince with her stamina beyond 3m when fifth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Stratford (26.4f) 23 days ago. Better expected back down in trip from easing mark. Did not see out 3m2f last month but still ran quite well; this trip ought to suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/2 -25%) Culligran |
15/2(-25%) | (5) Culligran 15/2, Unplaced both completed starts in points but some promise in pair of maiden/novice hurdles and upped her game when runner-up on handicap debut at Newton Abbot 22 days ago. Going the right way, so she's worth a second look. No match for winner when second on recent handicap debut but that was still a good run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (40/1 -400%) Our Friend Mo |
40/1(-400%) | (6) Our Friend Mo 40/1, Maiden hurdler/chaser who didn't kick on from a promising start over fences but did at least fare better returned to this sphere when fourth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (21f, good to soft, 8/1) 36 days ago, having run of race. Not dismissed out of hand. Pulled up in two chases at end of last season but recent hurdle run was much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (66/1 -560%) Bella Cavalla |
66/1(-560%) | (9) Bella Cavalla 66/1, Milan mare who showed much more than previously (equipped with cheekpieces) when third of 13 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f) 24 days ago, keeping on gradually straight. One of the least exposed but even longer trips may suit moving forward. Struggled on handicap debut but, with cheekpieces added, was placed at big odds last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (350/1 -3400%) Miss Applejack |
350/1(-3400%) | (7) Miss Applejack 350/1, Bumper winner who has been well held on her completed starts in novice/maiden hurdles. Possibly needed the run (after 3 months off) when seventh of 9 on handicap debut at Huntingdon (19.6f) 3 weeks ago and this promises to reveal more. Not beaten far when seventh of nine on handicap debut but improvement needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (80/1 -300%) Bella Madonna |
80/1(-300%) | (8) Bella Madonna 80/1, Poor form in bumpers/hurdles, beaten some way out when pulled before 3 out in mares' novices' handicap at Worcester (20f) in September. Absent/undergone wind surgery since but percentage call to look elsewhere. Unplaced all five hurdling starts; had breathing issue when pulled up last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (350/1 -9900%) Trump Lady |
350/1(-9900%) | (2) Trump Lady 350/1, Dual winner earlier in her career and, with a reappearance from a lengthy absence under her belt, she returned to something like her best when scoring at Newton Abbot (21.6f) 13 days ago, allowed to dictate and always holding on. Can give another good account. Made all at Newton Abbot; 3lb rise offset by Bradley Harris's useful claim here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (400/1 -3233%) Mrs Grimley |
400/1(-3233%) | (4) Mrs Grimley 400/1, Fair bumper/hurdles winner but ended time with Ben Pauling out of form and didn't offer much short-term encouragement on debut for new yard (also had wind op) when fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) 38 days ago. Up in trip. Became disappointing for Ben Pauling last season and made low-key stable debut last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BETHPAGE completed a brace of handicap victories when winning at Ludlow last month and Emma Lavelle's progressive mare can bring up the hat-trick off a 4lb raised mark. Trump Lady, a comfortable winner at Newton Abbot last time out, appears to be the main threat, while Culligran, who was no match for an emphatic victor at the same venue 22 days ago, is also noted.
BETHPAGE has gone from strength-to-strength in handicaps in recent months, finding the step up in trip right up her street when adding to her tally at Ludlow 4 weeks ago. She can make light of a 4 lb rise and complete the hat-trick. Trump Lady also arrives on the back of success and she's feared, with Our Friend Mo and Auditoria both lurking on handy marks and capable of playing a part also.
The suggestion is BETHPAGE, who is 2-2 since switched to handicaps this spring and remains unexposed over this sort of trip.

Mays Hill |
(5) (5/1 +9%)5/1(+9%) | (5) Mays Hill 5/1, Winner of a Fontwell bumper but yet to really threaten from 4 starts over hurdles, albeit she wasn't disgraced when fifth of 9 on handicap bow at Market Rasen (20.6f, good) last time. Likely to do better at some point. Lacked the pace to land a telling blow on handicap debut but wasn't beaten far in the end. |

Lady Salvador |
(9) (12/1 -50%)12/1(-50%) | (9) Lady Salvador 12/1, Showed she can make an impact from a basement mark when second of 7 on her Fontwell handicap debut/reappearance in November. Not helped by a late mistake when seventh of 10 in handicap hurdle back there on return in May but she has work to do from out of the weights here. Second on heavy ground in November; not seen to same effect on good last month; 4lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (10/3 +17%) Emily Wade |
10/3(+17%) | (7) Emily Wade 10/3, Opened hurdles account off a 2 lb higher mark over C&D last March. Not at her best in 5 starts since returning from a break in October but it could be that she's essentially a spring/summer horse and she will have a real chance if responding well to the first-time tongue strap. C&D winner; bled from the nose when well backed last time; remains well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (20/1 +20%) Fiadh |
20/1(+20%) | (6) Fiadh 20/1, Won over 3m at Wetherby last March but has shown very little recently since returning from an 11-month absence in March. Passed over. Out of sorts this year and needs to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (40/1 -21%) Far Away West |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Far Away West 40/1, Yet to trouble the judge under Rules and improvement was not forthcoming on last month's handicap debut at Fontwell. Never really got involved when 50-1 for last month's handicap debut at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 -1367%) Mrs Tabitha |
33/1(-1367%) | (4) Mrs Tabitha 33/1, Debut bumper winner at Bangor and left previous hurdling form well behind when justifying support in a 9-runner event on handicap debut at Ludlow in April. Didn't do much wrong when runner-up at Sedgefield (19.8f, good) since and she should have a part to play. Scored on handicap debut and has run well in defeat since; must be considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (33/1 -500%) Our Pink Lady |
33/1(-500%) | (1) Our Pink Lady 33/1, Lightly raced and improved when landing back-to-back C&D handicaps in March. Never looked like completing the hat-trick at Uttoxeter and while that race may have come too soon given that it was her third within a 5-week period, she looks up against it under top-weight. Dual C&D winner on soft ground in March; flopped on latest outing; may need some rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (40/1 -789%) Blow The Budget |
40/1(-789%) | (2) Blow The Budget 40/1, Remains a maiden but this will be just her seventh start over hurdles and, having undergone a wind op following a low-key effort at Musselburgh in February, she posted arguably her best effort yet when third of 10 back from a break at Market Rasen (20.6f, good) recently. Possibilities. Showed the benefit of a wind op when close third at Market Rasen last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (100/1 -1011%) Kellie's Dream |
100/1(-1011%) | (3) Kellie's Dream 100/1, Dual handicap hurdle winner for Andrew Slattery in Ireland and showed a bit when making the frame at Carlisle on her stable debut in February. Yet to fully click for present yard but she's dangerous to discount back up in trip here with her mark continuing to head south. 0-4 for current stable but comes here after two respectable 2m runs at Perth. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MRS TABITHA bumped into an improver when filling the runner-up spot at Sedgefield last month, and the lightly-raced five-year-old is fancied to get back in the winning groove nudged up 2lb in the handicap. Blow The Budget found improvement at Market Rasen on her first start following wind surgery and she can throw down another stern challenge, along with Mays Hill, who made a pleasing return to action 19 days ago.
A chance is taken on KELLIE'S DREAM, who is 11 lb lower in the weights compared to when making her debut for present connections in February and this step back up in trip/drying ground may help. Emily Wade also figures on a good mark and she will be a big threat if on-song, while Mrs Tabitha is third choice ahead of Blow The Budget.
The most obvious answer is MRS TABITHA, who launched her handicap career with two big runs this spring and is open to further progress.

The Wise Traveller |
(2) (9/1 -125%)9/1(-125%) | (2) The Wise Traveller 9/1, Ended 2023 on a winning note and followed up back from a break at Fakenham in April. Shade below par next 2 starts but back on track when runner-up off this mark at Huntingdon (25f, good) recently and he's one to consider. Running well but perhaps on a tough enough mark and needs the rain to stay away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (16/1 -45%) Ballyvaughan Bay |
16/1(-45%) | (5) Ballyvaughan Bay 16/1, Placed on a couple of occasions in maiden hurdles but improvement has not been forthcoming switched to handicaps of late. Beaten 8l in his latest handicap and probably wants further than the 2m3f of that day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/8 +53%) Hobb's Delight |
15/8(+53%) | (7) Hobb's Delight 15/8, Much-improved switched to handicaps during the winter, dead-heating at Fontwell on Boxing Day and also successful over C&D in February. Respectable fourth back from a 4-month break at Cartmel 15 days ago and looks a big player with that run under his belt. Good record here and perhaps didn't take to Cartmel when a shade below his best last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 -100%) Starlyte |
10/1(-100%) | (6) Starlyte 10/1, Losing run mounting up but her mark reflects that she shouldn't be judged too harshly on what she's shown in a couple of runs since returning from a break last month. Drying ground here will aid her cause and she has to enter calculations. On a losing run but fair latest effort at Kelso and the new visor might give her a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (15/2 +63%) Release The Kraken |
15/2(+63%) | (12) Release The Kraken 15/2, Remains winless following 15 attempts over hurdle and likely to find a few too good once more. Beaten 27l by Hobb's Delight before finishing tailed off when last to finish at Uttoxeter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (450/1 -4900%) Backinaction |
450/1(-4900%) | (1) Backinaction 450/1, Off the mark in Irish points at third attempt in January and second of his 3 qualifying runs in this sphere at Taunton was pretty encouraging. Couldn't rule out some improvement now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Possibilities on handicap debut if judged on his 11l fourth at Taunton two starts back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (300/1 -1400%) Gouazec |
300/1(-1400%) | (4) Gouazec 300/1, Successful 3 times from 16 starts between the flags and showed a bit more than on his first 2 starts over hurdles when fifth in a 14-runner Ffos Las novice (2¾m, good to soft) last month. Improvement is not out of the question now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Triple point winner; makes handicap debut about an improved run at novice level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (150/1 -1567%) Lion's Vigil |
150/1(-1567%) | (13) Lion's Vigil 150/1, Remains winless in this sphere following 10 attempts but was still in contention when exiting 3 out at Uttoxeter early last month and has subsequently made the frame at Ludlow (3m, good to firm) and Newton Abbot (18.5f, soft). Solid each-way chance. Arrives here on the back of respectable efforts and could be involved off his light weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (400/1 -6567%) Justshortofabubble |
400/1(-6567%) | (10) Justshortofabubble 400/1, Has proved remarkably consistent and likely to continue in that vein judged on recent reappearance fourth of 11 at Bangor (23.2f, good to soft). Shaped as though he'd come on for that run and a bold show could be on the way. Three-time chase winner who is 0-18 over hurdles; still respected after his Bangor run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (400/1 -1900%) Camilla's Choice |
400/1(-1900%) | (8) Camilla's Choice 400/1, Surpassed pick of her Irish form when making second start for this yard a winning one at Bangor (23f, good) last summer. Back down to that winning mark following a string of subsequent no-shows but she clearly needs to bounce back in a major way. Has gone off the rails since winning over a trip just shy of 3m at Bangor last summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (300/1 -1100%) Lord Getaway |
300/1(-1100%) | (11) Lord Getaway 300/1, Losing run stretches back to 2018 and this 12-y-o has offered little in 2 starts since returning from a lengthy absence in March. No win since 2018 and he's getting on now at the age of 12; modest latest run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (350/1 -1491%) Prince Nino |
350/1(-1491%) | (9) Prince Nino 350/1, Struck gold twice at Perth in 2023 but form has tailed off since his latest success in September and efforts since the turn of the year have been poor. First run beyond 2¾m. Should be well handicapped but recent efforts pour cold water on that theory. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (400/1 -1112%) Charlie My Boy |
400/1(-1112%) | (3) Charlie My Boy 400/1, Big improver over hurdles when winning a pair of handicaps at up to 2½m for Keiran Burke at the start of last summer. However, hasn't shown any spark in a handful of appearances for present yard this year and is going into the unknown stamina-wise here. Dual winner but no worthwhile form in four handicaps for current yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A mistake at the business end of the race put paid to HOBB'S DELIGHT's chance at Cartmel last time out, but Neil Mulholland's C&D winner can get back on track off an unchanged mark. The Wise Traveller was no match for a runaway winner at Huntingdon last month but he should go well with Jamie Gambin taking 10lb off his back. Backinaction goes handicapping off what could be a competitive mark of 103 and he warrants a market check.
Judged on his recent reappearance effort at Cartmel, HOBB'S DELIGHT remains on a fair mark and his two best efforts to date have come over this C&D. He gets the nod ahead of Starlyte, who should be close to the boil following a couple of spins last month and she has slipped to a dangerous mark. The consistent Justshortofabubble, Lion's Vigil and The Wise Traveller all make each-way appeal, while Backinaction also needs a second look now pitched into a handicap.
Returning to Southwell, HOBB'S DELIGHT looks a good bet to give his true running which didn't appear to be the case at Cartmel.
Ths is the racecard key.
