![]() Flash In The Park |
(4) 7/2(+68%) | (4) Flash In The Park 7/2, Got off the mark at Uttoxeter in November but running below form when fell last in handicap chase there (20f, heavy) following month on his final run for Dan Skelton. Capitulated in familiar fashion at Wetherby last month and now hiked up in trip. Tongue tie back on. Irish point winner; won for Dan Skelton in November but cost just £1,000 in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) ![]() Ali Star Bert |
7/2(-155%) | (5) Ali Star Bert 7/2, Two of his 3 wins last season came at this track and confirmed his effectiveness around here with 4 good placed efforts this season, latest when second of 10 here (24.3f, soft) 4 weeks ago. Every chance he can open his account for the campaign nudged back up 2 lb. Dual C&D winner; three good placed efforts here this season and has an each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Dr Kananga |
6/1(-80%) | (2) Dr Kananga 6/1, None too reliable (prone to mistakes over fences) and seemed to find the test inadequate when third of 5 in handicap chase at Doncaster (24f, good) just over 2 weeks ago. Back up in trip a positive but he's no certainty to be on his game anyway. Three chase wins, latest in 2022; creditable third in veterans' chase last time; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) ![]() Impatient |
15/2(-15%) | (1) Impatient 15/2, Resumed progress from out of the blue when running out an impressive winner in a re-fitted tongue strap in 3m Ffos Las handicap chase in November despite not always convincing with his jumping. Possibly found the race coming too soon at Leicester just 8 days later and freshened up since. Placed over hurdles; off the mark stepped up to 3m on second chase start; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) ![]() Ultra Beat |
6/4(+50%) | (3) Ultra Beat 6/4, Showed first form over hurdles when third at Ffos Las last May and backed that up 5 months on switched to fences when finishing runner-up at Bangor in October. Quickly back on track after a fall when third at Warwick in December but needs to shrug off a lesser effort since. Visor on. 0-9; two good placed efforts this term; poor run latest; visor now tried; a possible. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ALI STAR BERT produced another fair effort to only be denied by two lengths into second at this venue last month, and he's only 2lb higher. The nine-year-old has two previous course victories to his name and it would be no surprise to see him get his head back in front. Impatient failed to back up his success at Ffos Las when only fourth at Leicester in November, but he might be worth another chance after a break. Dr Kananga is next best.
ALI STAR BERT enhanced his fine record at this course with another solid placed effort 4 weeks ago and Shaun Harris' 9-y-o is fancied to go one better at the expense of Ultra Beat, who has made a promising start to his chasing career but needs to shrug a lesser effort at Chepstow last time. Impatient, who is returning from 4 months off, rounds off the shortlist.
Recent Doncaster third DR KANANGA is taken to get the better of Ultra Beat, who is visored for the first time.

![]() Eric Carmen |
(5) 9/1(-13%) | (5) Eric Carmen 9/1, Unreliable individual. Got off the mark over fences at Bangor last month but only sixth over hurdles here since. Won in testing ground two starts ago; well behind Jolyjump here in November; going a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) ![]() Harel Du Marais |
5/4(+0%) | (2) Harel Du Marais 5/4, Back to form to take advantage of a reduced mark on his C&D stable debut a fortnight ago. Raised 5 lb but retains handicapping scope on old form. Off the mark over C&D on stable debut last time; up 5lb; conditions suit; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Jolyjump |
5/1(-67%) | (1) Jolyjump 5/1, Made second start over fences a winning one over C&D in November. Hasn't managed to reproduce that form in 3 outings since but claims if a return to Southwell sparks a revival. C&D winner on good ground in November; fared less well since; could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Chestnut Pete |
40/1(-43%) | (3) Chestnut Pete 40/1, Fair maiden hurdler/chaser for Sophie Leech but no show in 2 comeback runs for new yard recently, including 28 lengths last of 6 to Harel Du Marais over C&D 14 days ago. 0-16 over jumps; well behind Harel Du Marais on second run for this yard last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Gwennie May Jem |
13/8(+35%) | (4) Gwennie May Jem 13/8, Made a promising start to his chase career when second of 9 in 2m Leicester handicap last month. Open to improvement and leading claims for top stable. Yet to win but good second on chase debut at Leicester last time and one with a chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HAREL DU MARAIS made his way through the field to score in good style over track and trip earlier in the month and the handicapper might have been kind to only put him up 5lb. With a repeat of that performance, he will prove very tough to beat. Gwennie May Jem is the obvious danger after his respectable second at Leicester and Harry Skelton is back on board. Previous C&D winner Jolyjump is noted too.
GWENNIE MAY JEM has the potential to build on his recent Leicester chase debut and is narrowly preferred to last-time-out C&D scorer Harel du Marais.
These conditions are ideal for JOLYJUMP who is taken to come back to form by beating Gwennie May Jem and Harel Du Marais.

![]() Tommy Tucker |
(7) 200/1(-33%) | (7) Tommy Tucker 200/1, Having unseated at the first hurdle on debut, showed very little when pulled up on second start last month. Isn't one to be interested in. Doesn't look the easiest; yet to complete in two runs hurdling; best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) ![]() Jack Hyde |
11/10(+37%) | (2) Jack Hyde 11/10, Irish point winner made it third time lucky in bumpers (for Thomas Gallagher) in January 2023. Off the mark on third start in maiden hurdles at Southwell (15.8f) two weeks ago, needing to be firmly driven to justify odds-on favouritism. Step up in trip may bring about further improvement. Off the mark over 2m here when long odds-on earlier this month; up in trip; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Escapologist |
5/2(-43%) | (1) Escapologist 5/2, Steadily progressive in bumpers for Joe Ponting and much improved for James Owen, well-backed when producing a polished display to land a Fakenham maiden (2m4f) on stable debut in January. Improved (unsuited by a muddling race) when second over same C&D the following month. Looks the one to beat. Off the mark on stable/hurdle debut in January; good 2nd next time; ground suits; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Little Dipper |
33/1(-106%) | (6) Little Dipper 33/1, Made a promising hurdling debut when third of 9 in novice at Southwell (15.8f, soft) in February but went backwards from that effort quite emphatically on second start in this sphere. While this longer trip is likely to suit, he is difficult to fancy strongly considering his most recent effort. Third here on hurdles debut; not so good latest; longer trip should suit; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Little Big Kev |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Little Big Kev 40/1, Runner-up on his only start in points and fair form in bumpers. Two runs in novice/maiden hurdles suggest he may be one for handicapping down the line, latest effort well-below form when fifth of 12 at Doncaster (19.4f). Others preferred. Irish point second; promise in bumpers but well beaten both starts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() South Omo Zone |
16/5(-7%) | (4) South Omo Zone 16/5, Bumper winner for Anthony Charlton in January 2024 but has seemingly been hard to keep right since. Landed a Wincanton maiden (15.2f) on reappearance/stable debut in January but ran poorly the following month on testing ground at Exeter. Lightly-raced and not ruled out if back on song. Bumper/hurdles winner; pulled up in the mud latest; this going should suit better; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Monaco Rules |
18/1(-125%) | (3) Monaco Rules 18/1, Fairly useful on the Flat in France and made a winning start to hurdling for Francois Nicolle at Cholet in October. After 2 quieter runs for current connections, posted his best effort on these shores when third in a novice hurdle at Newcastle (20.3f) 48 days ago. Will need to step forward again. 2m3f winner in French Provinces; fair form here, third at Newcastle latest; this is harder. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Escapologist was far from disgraced when hitting the crossbar at Fakenham last month and he holds an obvious chance boasting a rating of 121. However, it may pay to side with SOUTH OMO ZONE, who ran too bad to be true when pulled up on heavy ground at Exeter last time. If he can build on his victory at Wincanton prior to that, then he could be the one to beat. Jack Hyde is another to note.
ESCAPOLOGIST has looked a different proposition since joining James Owen and with more improvement anticipated, he looks the one they all have to beat. A winner on hurdles debut, the lightly-raced South Omo Zone could pose a threat if back on song after disappointing on testing ground at Exeter last month, while Jack Hyde should appreciate this step up in distance.
In what looks quite a warm race the vote goes to course winner JACK HYDE, who should be suited by this step up to 2m4f.

1st (1) ![]() Alexandra Larose |
5/4(+0%) | (1) Alexandra Larose 5/4, On the up since sent handicapping and she got off the mark in 12-runner race at Huntingdon (19.6f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Up another 7 lb but she's not taken lightly with few miles on the clock. Improved since handicapping, off the mark over 2m3f latest; chance despite 7lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Time Was |
9/1(-50%) | (7) Time Was 9/1, A winning pointer but still a maiden under Rules and she came in a below-par fifth of 8 in handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) 19 days ago. Not ruled out if back on song returned to hurdling. Winning Irish pointer; fair form over hurdles/fences and has an each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Time For Tea |
80/1(+20%) | (5) Time For Tea 80/1, Fair maiden hurdler at best for Henry de Bromhead in Ireland but she's difficult to make a case for on the back of two poor efforts for her new yard. Ex-Henry de Bromhead; 3rd in a maiden in August, but pulled up both runs for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Heather Honey |
17/2(+23%) | (8) Heather Honey 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Off 5 months before only fifth of 7 in novice hurdle at Market Rasen (16.6f, good) 13 days ago. Up in trip with more required on her handicap hurdle debut. Best run when 5th in a bumper (good); well beaten over hurdles; up in trip; h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Kuma Beach |
14/1(+58%) | (10) Kuma Beach 14/1, Modest maiden hurdler who came in a well-held sixth of 9 in handicap chase at Newcastle (16.3f, good to soft) on her debut over fences 32 days ago. Weighted to go well though if back on song quickly returned to this sphere. Improved with cheekpieces, best run when fifth in h'cap in January; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() The Dancing Lass |
22/1(-38%) | (9) The Dancing Lass 22/1, Poor form shown thus far. 200/1, sixth of 10 in novice hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Up in trip and cheekpieces are reached for now going into handicaps. Well beaten in 3 runs over hurdles; needs to improve for cheekpieces on handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Jessie Jump Jet |
6/1(+20%) | (4) Jessie Jump Jet 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden who posted a good fifth of 13 in handicap hurdle (28/1) at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft) 25 days ago, needing stiffer test. Very much one to consider now stepping up in trip. Has shown promise including when fifth on h'cap debut; improvement needed back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Viva Valentina |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Viva Valentina 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden but yet to fire after 14 months off in 2m maiden hurdles at Huntingdon and Taunton this year. Up in trip and tongue strap back on now for her handicapping debut so she could still do better for top yard. Best run when 2nd with tongue-tie; modest since; tongue-tie back on; chance on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() My Dream |
11/1(+8%) | (6) My Dream 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Off 9 months before a fading sixth of 7 in novice hurdle over C&D (good) 14 days ago. May do better on her handicap debut. C&D maiden hurdle fourth in 2024; absent 272 days after; wouldn't rule out on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) ![]() Hello Sweety |
14/1(+0%) | (13) Hello Sweety 14/1, Placed on Flat in Poland first 3 starts but little impact for his current yard. Needs to take a big step forward now going into handicaps. Placed on the Flat in Poland; modest form hurdling; this longer trip not sure to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Miss Hunky Dory |
22/1(-10%) | (3) Miss Hunky Dory 22/1, Pulled up on his last two runs, latest in handicap chase at Warwick (24f, soft) on his debut over fences 24 days ago. Back over hurdles with cheekpieces on for 1st time and work to do. Fair third when back after wind op; pulled up two runs since; headgear tried; best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ALEXANDRA LAROSE was narrowly denied on her handicap debut at Leicester but she made no mistake when on target at Huntingdon last time, and a subsequent 7lb rise should be no barrier to further success. Viva Valentina is pitched in at a moderate level for her handicap bow so must be of interest off an opening mark of 95, and Time Was should not be overlooked.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and ALEXANDRA LAROSE is taken to continue on the up and follow up her breakthrough Huntingdon victory. Jessie Jump Jet could emerge as the chief threat now her stamina is unlocked more with handicap debutantes My Dream and Viva Valentina also in the mix.
With a tongue-tie back on, a chance is taken on VIVA VALENTINA breaking her duck on handicap debut. Alexandra Larose is next best.

![]() Foreverwalking |
(1) 20/1(-43%) | (1) Foreverwalking 20/1, Point winner who was runner-up in 2½m Thurles maiden hurdle for Willie Mullins in November. Changed hands for £4,000 thereafter and not matched that level in maiden/novice hurdles for present stable in recent months, but this switch to handicap company could be the catalyst for improvement. Second on hurdle debut for Willie Mullins; twice below that form for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) ![]() Thank You Blue |
20/1(-100%) | (5) Thank You Blue 20/1, Failed to build on initial hurdles promise when pitched into handicaps last season and 4 of his half-a-dozen subsequent starts over fences have resulted in non-completions. On the upside, he's feasibly treated back in this sphere and represents a yard in good form. Returns to hurdling with a bit to prove but is on a workable mark; trip/ground suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Inishnabro |
11/4(+17%) | (2) Inishnabro 11/4, Half-brother to a couple of winning hurdlers and won by a wide margin on the second of his 2 runs between the flags. Made it third time lucky over hurdles on handicap debut at Market Rasen (18.6f, good to soft) on Boxing Day and 3 lb rise looks manageable with further progress likely. Not seen since winning handicap debut on Boxing Day but probably still has potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Wise Guy |
7/2(+42%) | (7) Wise Guy 7/2, Improver in handicaps last season, winning slow-ground contests at Lingfield and Carlisle. That progress hasn't continued this time around, but showed more spark when 3 lengths fourth to Greatness Awaits on the back of a wind op at Ludlow and claims if able to build on that back up in trip here. Not at best this season but ran okay last month, after a wind op; remains on good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Aggagio |
11/4(+8%) | (4) Aggagio 11/4, Snapped a losing run stretching back almost 2 years when capitalising on a falling mark down in grade at Warwick (2m, good to soft) recently. Escapes a penalty for that and no concerns with regard to ground/trip, so there is plenty of cause for optimism. Escapes penalty for recent Southwell win; obvious claims if in the right mood again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Greatness Awaits |
8/1(-100%) | (3) Greatness Awaits 8/1, Bounced back to his best for current yard when making all with blinkers refitted at Ludlow (15.7f, soft) last month. Struck again off 2 lb higher at Hereford (16.2f, good), but raised 5 lb for that and this step back up in trip is of dubious benefit. Game front-runner; back up in trip after two narrow 2m wins; bold bid likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Glen Road |
5/1(-11%) | (6) Glen Road 5/1, Improved since returning from a break, making the frame twice at Wetherby in December. Unsuited by the way the race developed at Newcastle the following month, but back on track when recently landing a 10-runner Market Rasen handicap (20.6f, good) in decisive fashion and 4 lb rise fair enough. Came good at Market Rasen a fortnight ago and further progress is possible. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An opening mark of 104 proved to be lenient for Market Rasen winner INISHNABRO, who looked strongest in the closing stages of that extended 2m2f contest. A step up in trip ought to suit Henry Oliver's gelding on that evidence and he is taken to defy a 3lb higher mark. Aggagio recorded a commanding success at Warwick recently and, given he escapes a penalty, he's a real danger. Foreverwalking finished 13 lengths behind Albert Bartlett fifth Wendigo at Wetherby latest and also commands respect.
Point winner INISHNABRO improved for the step up to 18.5f when opening his Rules account at Market Rasen and, with this further increase in trip likely to bring about more improvement, he could be the answer. Thank You Blue's recent form figures make for grim reading but he's of interest back in this sphere and may emerge as the main danger ahead of Aggagio, who escapes a penalty for his recent Warwick success and is greatly respected, for all that he's an infrequent winner nowadays.
Preference is for INISHNABRO (nap), who scored on his handicap debut in December and has plenty of scope for further progress.

![]() Inchester D'amsyl |
(7) 8/1(0%) | (7) Inchester D'amsyl 8/1, Hinted at promise in novice hurdles but made no real progress switched to handicaps last season. Probably needed the run after 11 months off at Southwell 4 weeks ago. Became disappointing last season and made a low-key reappearance last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (8) ![]() Lizzie Rey |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Lizzie Rey 33/1, Had hinted at ability but showed nothing in handicaps both starts this season. Headgear now applied. Well beaten in both handicaps (2m5f/3m); cheekpieces tried today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Special John |
3/1(+45%) | (2) Special John 3/1, Off mark in points at fourth attempt and hinted at ability both starts over hurdles. Opening mark on the stiff side but not without interest switched to a handicap. Remote when fourth on both hurdling starts but remains unexposed under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Trevor's Lad |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Trevor's Lad 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler who was back on track when third at Southwell last month. Claims if building on that up in trip. 0-7 over hurdles but ran well when placed over 2m4f last month; first 3m attempt today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Lady's Present |
7/1(0%) | (9) Lady's Present 7/1, Shaped better than the distance beaten when second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Fakenham (23.4f) in January but below that level both starts since. However, drying ground could be in her favour back up in trip. 0-9 over hurdles; just a respectable sixth at Newcastle this month; needs to find extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Glengolly |
13/2(+28%) | (4) Glengolly 13/2, Had made a decent start for this yard (formerly with Paul Webber) but let down by jumping last 2 starts and headgear now applied. Performed very poorly last time and now 0-9 over hurdles; cheekpieces added today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Dexperado |
10/1(-54%) | (3) Dexperado 10/1, Runner-up at Market Rasen on last 2 starts of last season, chasing home decent sorts. However, needs to bounce back after 3 disappointing efforts this term. Ended last season with two good seconds but yet to hit top gear this term (three runs). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Churchman |
14/1(-100%) | (6) Churchman 14/1, Still a maiden but becoming well treated and this longer distance could suit. Not taken lightly. Latest run (2m5f) was a step back in the right direction; tries a new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Defence Witness |
11/2(-83%) | (1) Defence Witness 11/2, Bumper winner who hasn't kicked on as might have been expected over jumps, proving expensive to follow. However, looks competitive on form and makes a fresh start for new yard in a first-time tongue strap (has had wind op). 0-7 over hurdles for Sandy Thomson but ended 2024 with a good run; now with new stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
It's hard to get too excited about any of these, so only a tentative vote can go the way of DEFENCE WITNESS. His two latest efforts, both at Musselburgh, have been relatively encouraging and any further progress might suffice in a contest lacking depth. Trevor's Lad hit the frame here last time out and boasts place claims on that basis. Lady's Present is another to consider.
DEFENCE WITNESS has been expensive to follow but he's had a breathing operation since last seen so is worth another chance starting out for an in-form yard with a tongue strap applied. Lady's Present and Churchman head the dangers.
This rather uncompetitive finale could provide a good opportunity for DEFENCE WITNESS to open his account over hurdles.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
