1st (6) (4/11 +51%) Bradman |
4/11(+51%) | (6) Bradman 4/11, Not without promise in trio of AW handicaps at around 1m late last year and not seen to best effect in steadily-run affair (also operating from out of weights) when close-up last of 4 over 11f here 6 days ago. Serious claims with Rossa Ryan up. Close fourth here last week when out of weights; future mark 6lb higher; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (20/1 -100%) Northgate |
20/1(-100%) | (2) Northgate 20/1, Dutch Art colt. Minor promise (granted run of the race) on second of 3 starts in AW novice/maidens at up to 1m during second half of last year. Switch to handicaps rates a plus at least if longer trip brings about improvement. May improve now handicapping and upped in trip; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/1 +17%) Rubio De Oro |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Rubio De Oro 10/1, Showed little in trio of quick-fire maiden/novice events and fared no better (in first-time blinkers) when eighth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (1m) 8 days ago. Another taking a marked step up in trip now. Has failed to threaten in four races but may improve for this step up to 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (15/2 +17%) Catena |
15/2(+17%) | (1) Catena 15/2, Beverley novice winner (at 7.4f) for Craig Lidster last term but not built on that subsequently, including in 2 starts for new yard late last year. Takes a marked step up in trip now and her mark is easing all the time. Has failed to build on turf win last June; new trip needs to have positive effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 -129%) Tres Chic |
16/1(-129%) | (7) Tres Chic 16/1, Winner at Leicester in October. Twelfth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (1m) 22 days ago, weakening 2f out. Significantly up in trip. The only previous winner in the field but has a stamina doubt upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/1 +36%) Modern Verse |
9/1(+36%) | (3) Modern Verse 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, thirteenth of 14 in nursery at Kempton (8f) 22 days ago. Significantly up in trip now and booking of Marquand catches the eye. One to note in the betting. Holds weak claims on her 7f-1m1f form but this new trip may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (50/1 -669%) Rising Rhoesa |
50/1(-669%) | (5) Rising Rhoesa 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 14/1, seventh of 8 in maiden at Newcastle (7.1f). Off 107 days. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Looks a possible improver upped in distance on handicap debut; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
In a very moderate contest marginal preference is for BRADMAN, who was far from disgraced when a close last of four from 7lb out of the handicap over 1m3f at this venue last week. Tres Chic has to prove that she stays this far but is an obvious threat to the selection, while Catena is the clear pick of the remainder.
BRADMAN offered definite signs he's capable of defying his lowly mark in handicaps late last year and, having not been seen to best effect over 11f here 6 days ago, he's fancied to come out on top operating from his correct mark this time. Catena and Northgate may emerge next best.
Off his proper mark back down in grade, BRADMAN appears to have a particularly good chance. Rising Rhoesa is second choice.

1st (4) (4/1 +33%) Badosa |
4/1(+33%) | (4) Badosa 4/1, Mehmas filly who showed improved form when runner-up in a C&D nursery on penultimate start in December. Respectable fourth returned to this track/trip 3 weeks ago and she's not out of things in an ordinary affair. Good second over C&D on penultimate outing; major contender on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 +14%) Bitcoin Profit |
6/1(+14%) | (3) Bitcoin Profit 6/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, below form sixth of 10 in nursery (2/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 21 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Back up in trip. Respected. Spoiled chance with tardy start last time; posted an improved effort earlier in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/1 +10%) Hyrcanian |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Hyrcanian 9/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 33/1, ninth of 10 in maiden at Beverley (5f, good to firm) in August. Back up in trip. Makes handicap debut and betting may prove informative back from 5 months off. May turn things around now handicapping and switched to AW; heed market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (17/2 +15%) Amroon |
17/2(+15%) | (1) Amroon 17/2, Showed improved form when off the mark at Chelmsford (6f) in November but proved disappointing both starts since, latterly when ninth of 11 in C&D minor event 13 days ago. Tongue tie discarded now. Has failed to back up the form of his Chelmsford win; not poised to defy top weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (8/1 +0%) Rust E Boy |
8/1(+0%) | (7) Rust E Boy 8/1, Ran better than for a while from slipping mark when 1¼ lengths third of 12 in nursery at this C&D 15 days ago. Not out of things. Ties in closely with Badosa on C&D running five weeks ago; each-way possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (28/1 -75%) Red Iris |
28/1(-75%) | (10) Red Iris 28/1, Below form fifth of 11 in nursery at this C&D (16/1) 20 days ago, seeming unsuited by drop in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Never landed a blow over C&D most recently; now goes in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (3/1 -20%) Nevzilla |
3/1(-20%) | (11) Nevzilla 3/1, Kodiac filly who stepped up markedly on previous efforts at huge odds when second of 11 in a C&D event 13 days ago, headway final 1f and finishing well. Worth chancing to build on that from basement mark now handicapping. Strong-finishing second in C&D classified event (AW debut) two weeks ago; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (20/1 -67%) Profitman |
20/1(-67%) | (5) Profitman 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1 and hooded for 1st time, seventh of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 15 days ago. Switch to handicaps rates a plus operating from a lowly mark and booking of Billy Loughnane catches the eye. Another to monitor in the market for clues. May improve now qualified for a mark and dropped in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (66/1 -230%) Alma Don |
66/1(-230%) | (9) Alma Don 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in maiden at Newcastle (7.1f, 80/1). Off 107 days. Makes handicap debut. May be capable of better now handicapping and dropped back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (28/1 -75%) Flemish |
28/1(-75%) | (12) Flemish 28/1, Last of 8 in nursery at Lingfield (5f, AW, 25/1) 37 days ago, making no impression. Step back up in trip needs to have positive effect now but that's not out of the question. Not solid on form but may benefit from this step back up to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (12/1 -20%) Mehigburn |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Mehigburn 12/1, Maiden who matched previous best from steadily easing mark when third of 11 in a C&D nursery last month, plugging on final 1f. Each-way possibilities again. Not disgraced in two C&D events since wearing cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (11/1 -57%) Alfanatical |
11/1(-57%) | (6) Alfanatical 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/2, improved on previous efforts when second of 8 in nursery at Chelmsford City (6f) 70 days ago, no match for winner. Makes tapeta debut and she may yet have more to offer at this level. Creditable second at Chelmsford (handicap debut) ten weeks ago; open to progress. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
NEVZILLA put in a career best when a neck second in a classified event over C&D late last month and that form gives her a big chance here. Rust E Boy made the frame in a similar race to this a month ago and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Alfanatical and Badosa are others to note.
NEVZILLA showed much improved form at huge odds when runner-up in a C&D minor event 2 weeks ago, finishing well. Now handicapping from a basement mark, she holds sound claims if able to replicate that here. Bitcoin Profit, Badosa and Rust E Boy head up the dangers, with handicap debutantes Hyrcanian and Profitman worth monitoring in the betting.
Granted a clean break, BITCOIN PROFIT may be able to get off the mark. Badosa is second choice.

9/4(-13%) | (1) Pandora's Gift 9/4, Confirmed debut promise when winning 10-runner minor event at Chelmsford City (6f, 9/2) 21 days ago, plenty in hand. Strong claims under the penalty. Made all for emphatic 4l win in latest Chelmsford start; leading player under 4lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 -33%) Blue Virtue |
2/1(-33%) | (2) Blue Virtue 2/1, Promising sort. 4/1, third of 7 in minor event at Chelmsford City (6f) on debut 31 days ago. From a good family and there's improvement to come, so makes plenty of appeal. Fared best of the newcomers in Chelmsford contest, despite looking green; bound to improve. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/1 +21%) Dame Darcey |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Dame Darcey 11/1, Promising sort. Fourth of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 18/1) on debut 15 days ago. May well do better and can't be discounted. Sister to a 6f AW scorer; duly showed some promise in Wolverhampton event at Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

28/1(-180%) | (8) Miss Stormy Night 28/1, 72,000 gns foal, 80,000 gns yearling, Night of Thunder filly. 200/1(-300%) | (11) So Obsessed 200/1, Once-raced maiden. 25/1, last of 10 in minor event at Kempton (6f) on debut. Off 6 months. Failed to beat a rival at Kempton six months ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PANDORA'S GIFT confirmed the promise that she displayed on debut when winning impressively over 6f at Chelmsford three weeks ago. The daughter of Churchill remains open to improvement and is clearly the one to beat. That said, Blue Virtue showed ability on her racecourse bow and similar comments apply to Dame Darcey. Miss Bodacious cost 325,000gns as a yearling and Karl Burke's filly is certainly a newcomer to note.
BLUE VIRTUE is nicely bred and offered some encouragement at Chelmsford first time out, so she could find enough improvement to open her account at the second attempt. Pandora's Gift scored with plenty in hand at the same track three weeks ago and she's likely to pose a formidable threat, while Miss Bodacious is one to note on debut.
Chelmsford winner PANDORA'S GIFT is the form pick. Blue Virtue and interesting newcomer Miss Bodacious look the biggest threats.

1st (2) (15/2 -67%) Queen Of Atlantis |
15/2(-67%) | (2) Queen Of Atlantis 15/2, Career best when winning 8-runner nursery at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 10/1) 20 days ago, suited by increase in trip. Unlikely to have reached her limit, so merits plenty of respect. May well build on her Wolverhampton win and progress further; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (Evens +56%) Sunny Street |
Evens(+56%) | (1) Sunny Street Evens, Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 8 in maiden (2/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 23 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Has to be taken seriously. Steadily heading in the right direction; appears poised to open his account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (16/1 -220%) Mereside Madness |
16/1(-220%) | (6) Mereside Madness 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Very good second of 7 in handicap (5/2) at Newcastle (6f) 7 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Likely to give another good account. Ran well at Newcastle last week on AW/handicap debut; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 -20%) Khamsin |
4/1(-20%) | (5) Khamsin 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 10/1 and blinkered for 1st time, fourth of 5 in maiden at Chelmsford City (7f) 89 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Has been gelded and looks the type to do better. Open to further progress now qualified for handicaps; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (20/1 -25%) Stratocracy |
20/1(-25%) | (4) Stratocracy 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/1, first run since leaving Richard Hannon when seventh of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 7 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Has work to do. Five-race maiden; holds the worst claims on last-time-out bare form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4/1 +11%) Royal Tapestry |
4/1(+11%) | (3) Royal Tapestry 4/1, Winner at Lingfield in November. Fourth of 7 in nursery at Kempton (8f, 5/1) 52 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Remains with potential on the back of a gelding operation. Solid record in handicaps on Polytrack; thereabouts if taking to Tapeta. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SUNNY STREET was second only to an impeccably-bred rival at Wolverhampton last month and, while he now has to give weight away to all his rivals, James Tate's colt appeals strongly as he starts out in a handicap from a workable mark. A winner at Lingfield off 6lb lower in November, Royal Tapestry has been gelded since last seen, but his previous form is respectable enough to hold him in high regard at this level. Queen Of Atlantis is up in class but completes the shortlist.
SUNNY STREET upped his game and bumped into a good prospect at Wolverhampton last time, so he's worth a chance to prove himself better than an opening mark of 79. Last-time-out winner Queen of Atlantis is a danger and Royal Tapestry probably has a bigger effort in him.
The way he's going, SUNNY STREET looks set to get off the mark. Fellow handicap debutant Khamsin is feared most.

1st (1) (9/2 -50%) Eligible |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Eligible 9/2, 3-time course winner last winter who got on top late on to resume winning ways at York (7f) in May. Returned in good heart this AW campaign, not seen to best effect when third at Chelmsford (1m) 31 days ago. One to be interested in. Creditable third at Chelmsford last time; 3-7 at Southwell; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (15/2 -88%) Star Zinc |
15/2(-88%) | (5) Star Zinc 15/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Newcastle in November. 10/3, below form sixth of 12 in handicap back at that venue (7.1f) 34 days ago, ridden over 2f out and not quicken. Revised mark not beyond him but he does need things to drop right. Looks ready for the return to 1m and he's the only C&D winner in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (4/1 +20%) King Of York |
4/1(+20%) | (11) King Of York 4/1, Remains a maiden after 19 Flat runs. Good second of 12 in handicap at this C&D (6/5) 13 days ago, a slow start arguably costing him. Steps back up in grade now but he's of interest in present groove. Maiden who has a consistent record at Southwell and went close last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (20/1 -100%) Shaw Park |
20/1(-100%) | (7) Shaw Park 20/1, Creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 66/1) 34 days ago, pushed along around halfway and late headway. Eased further in weights and worth noting he remains unexposed at 1m. Step back in right direction last time; has frame possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 +73%) Cliffcake |
11/2(+73%) | (8) Cliffcake 11/2, Course winner who looked badly out sorts when last seen, losing place over 2f out when last of 11 in C&D handicap in November. Returns to action with his yard in good nick however, so a resurgence is certainly not out of the question operating 2 lb below last winning mark. Has gradually lost his form since last success; revival required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (15/2 +38%) Open Choice |
15/2(+38%) | (9) Open Choice 15/2, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f, 6/1) 10 days ago, weakening final 1f. Back down in trip. Blinkers quickly back on here and worth noting he remains less exposed than most. Six-race maiden who looks open to improvement back down in distance; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/1 +0%) Power Of Gold |
7/1(+0%) | (2) Power Of Gold 7/1, 13/2, first run since leaving Hugo Palmer/also gelded, not seen to best effect when sixth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 23 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Better showing anticipated with that run under his belt. Sole win came off this mark; interesting on second run for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (14/1 -100%) Souffionne |
14/1(-100%) | (4) Souffionne 14/1, Much improved on debut when winning 4-runner Newcastle novice (7f) in November. Not disgraced when sixth of 12 in handicap at that venue 5 weeks ago and step up in trip rates a likely plus. Has raced only three times (7f) and may still have further progress in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (5/1 +29%) Band Of Steel |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Band Of Steel 5/1, AW maiden winner who ran to again hit the frame when third at Lingfield (7f) 2 starts back. Possible a busy spell caught up with him when last of 10 at Wolverhampton (7f) 20 days ago and bounce back not ruled out with blinkers replacing cheekpieces. Form dipped last time but he is normally consistent on AW; could well rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (33/1 +0%) Anif |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Anif 33/1, Course winner. 22/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 20 days ago. Has fallen to a workable mark but he needs to step up plenty on recent efforts to figure. Nine-time AW scorer but has a big doubt over current form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SOUFFIONNE has the scope for progression and the lightly-raced four-year-old is the most intriguing option in this field of hardened campaigners. A game winner of a novice on his penultimate start, the selection was done for toe over 7f on his handicap bow at Newcastle last month but could well eclipse that effort with the longer trip a likely prompt for improvement. Proven over 1m, Eligible rates the best alternative, while Star Zinc (sixth) is taken to reverse recent Newcastle form with Shaw Park (fourth) over an extra furlong.
A 3-time winner at this venue last winter, ELIGIBLE hasn't shaped up at all badly in 2 starts this all-weather campaign, coming from further back than ideal when third at Chelmsford 31 days ago. Operating from a workable mark, he gets the nod to come out on top. King of York has been given a chance by the assessor and arrives in good order, so he's feared at the foot of the weights. Power of Gold and Cliffcake back from a break are others to note.
The vote goes to possible improver OPEN CHOICE, who looks interesting back down in trip. Eligible is second choice.

1st (6) (11/4 -38%) Goldsmith |
11/4(-38%) | (6) Goldsmith 11/4, Well served by well-run race when ending frustrating spell with success at Wolverhampton (9.5f0 2 weeks ago, pulling clear with another interesting sort. Of interest again from 3 lb higher, particularly if granted good pace to aim at. Won over 9.5f last time; not crying out for return to 1m but he's largely consistent. |

2nd (3) (10/3 +33%) Law Supreme |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Law Supreme 10/3, French maiden winner (at 1m) who has quickly slipped in weights for present stable and he ran well under a change of tactics when second of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 4 days ago, headed last ½f, no extra late on. Remains low-mileage and one to consider. Ex-French; good effort at Wolverhampton four days ago (third start for new stable). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (8/1 +43%) Ciotog |
8/1(+43%) | (8) Ciotog 8/1, Latest win at Bath in September. 20/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 22 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Comes here operating from last winning mark and he's not one to write off. Has failed to land a blow since returning to AW; now only 1-15 in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +38%) Leap Day |
5/2(+38%) | (5) Leap Day 5/2, Career best when winning 8-runner minor event (13/8) at this C&D 13 days ago, quickening 1f out and keeping on. Remains unexposed at this trip and likely to go well again back in handicaps from unchanged mark. Opened his account in C&D novice event two weeks ago; could well build on that success. |

5th (1) (10/1 -150%) Hortzadar |
10/1(-150%) | (1) Hortzadar 10/1, Comes here in good order, successful on AW debut at Newcastle (1m) in November and matched that form from 3 lb higher mark when third back at that venue last month, headed dying strides. Claims in present groove and good pace to aim at will help. Took well to Tapeta at Newcastle the last twice, winning then close third; likely player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (22/1 -83%) Light Up Our Stars |
22/1(-83%) | (7) Light Up Our Stars 22/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. 13/2, seventh of 8 in handicap back at that venue (8.6f) 12 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Has frame possibilities, provided he runs to form with tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/1 +0%) Innse Gall |
10/1(+0%) | (2) Innse Gall 10/1, Latest win at Ayr in August. 8/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at York (10.2f, soft). Off 110 days. Back down in trip. First run for yard after leaving Iain Jardine and no forlorn hope. Most wins over longer trips; drop back to 1m looks a negative on debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 +12%) Conservative |
22/1(+12%) | (10) Conservative 22/1, C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Visored for 1st time, last of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (12f, good, 22/1) in June, eased under 4f out. Returns from 6 months off operating from career-low mark and market may prove a useful guide. C&D scorer in 2022 for previous yard; 0-8 for current stable and has regressed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (80/1 -300%) One More Dream |
80/1(-300%) | (4) One More Dream 80/1, Three wins from 14 runs last year. Latest win at Catterick (6f) in August. However, lost way subsequently, again failing to beat a rival when last of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 14 days ago. Has badly lost his form since last win and this new trip is an added question mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (150/1 -500%) Smalleytime |
150/1(-500%) | (9) Smalleytime 150/1, Winner at Salisbury in July. Ninth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW, 33/1) 47 days ago, never landing a blow. Yard switch needs to have had positive effect ahead of this. Hood on 1st time. First-time hood needs to make a difference on debut for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Recent novice winner Leap Day is respected back in a handicap, while Goldsmith enters calculations after landing a 0-70-rated contest over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton 15 days ago. However, both are faced with a stiffer test and may be susceptible to a potential sucker punch that could be delivered by HORTZADAR. Most effective when arriving late on the scene, the selection enjoyed a profitable campaign last year and, resuming off just 3lb above his last winning mark, he could be hard to resist on his Southwell debut.
GOLDSMITH crucially got the well-run race that suits when resuming winning ways at Wolverhampton 2 weeks ago, coming clear with one boasting some strong form lines in the process, and in the hope he gets a good gallop to aim at once more, all looks set fair for another big run from a 3 lb higher mark. Leap Day looked well suited by the step up to 1m when successful over C&D latest and he's feared. Law Supreme and Hortzadar complete the shortlist.
Unexposed over 1m, LEAP DAY (nap) could well follow up his C&D novice success. Law Supreme is second choice.

1st (5) (4/1 +20%) Rodborough |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Rodborough 4/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in August. 8/1, creditable 2¾ lengths second of 11 to Reigning Profit in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 9 days ago. Should be on the premises again. Has conditions to suit but a career best will be required if she's to gain third C&D win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 +70%) Jeans Maite |
6/1(+70%) | (4) Jeans Maite 6/1, 4-time C&D winner. Eighth of 11 in handicap at this course (6.1f, 25/1) 13 days ago. Others preferred. Multiple C&D winner; good mark; third on penultimate start (6f) brings her right into this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -100%) Reigning Profit |
4/1(-100%) | (1) Reigning Profit 4/1, Career best when winning 11-runner handicap (6/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 9 days ago by 2¾ lengths from Rodborough, soon clear. Capable of defying a penalty if in the same form. Easy win at Wolverhampton last week; 5lb well in under a penalty; high on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 -38%) Stone Of Destiny |
11/1(-38%) | (2) Stone Of Destiny 11/1, Untrustworthy individual. C&D winner. Latest win here in December. 17/2, eighth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago, slowly away. C&D winner on his last run in a Class 5; should get a good pace to aim at; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (5/1 -25%) Dark Side Prince |
5/1(-25%) | (9) Dark Side Prince 5/1, 3-time C&D winner. Creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 10/3) 23 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Worth considering from a handy mark. Fine record over C&D; new tongue-tie tried today; one to consider off a dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (18/1 -29%) Absolutelyflawless |
18/1(-29%) | (8) Absolutelyflawless 18/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 100/1, bit below form sixth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 14 days ago. Something to find on form. Struggled since October and risky dropping to 5f, for all that Rossa Ryan is booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (11/4 +45%) Blazing Hot |
11/4(+45%) | (10) Blazing Hot 11/4, 3-time C&D winner. 10/3, won 9-runner handicap at this C&D 2 days ago. Should give another good account for all he's up in grade. Tanked through the race before settling matters quickly over C&D on Tuesday; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (25/1 -25%) Murbih |
25/1(-25%) | (6) Murbih 25/1, C&D winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 69 days ago. Has work to do. Conditions suit and he's on a dangerous mark; quiet when last seen ten weeks ago though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (40/1 -60%) Inanna |
40/1(-60%) | (3) Inanna 40/1, 3¾ lengths seventh of 11 to Stone of Destiny in handicap (40/1) at this C&D 27 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Blinkers on 1st time. Others more persuasive. Patchy record last year; addition of blinkers is not enough to earn her the vote today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (80/1 -567%) Just That Lord |
80/1(-567%) | (7) Just That Lord 80/1, One win from 3 runs last year. Latest win at Lingfield in July. 10/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 67 days ago. Worth a market check. Made a winning stable debut on turf last summer; not so good in either subsequent run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Rodborough (second) is now 5lb better off with her recent Wolverhampton conqueror REIGNING PROFIT (winner), but given the manner of that success, Ruth Carr's gelding might take some beating once again. Dark Side Prince's handicap mark has been in gradual decline recently, though he continues to run well and could find more for the application of a first-time tongue-tie. Others to note include Jeans Maite and Just That Lord.
REIGNING PROFIT and Rodborough filled the first two positions at Wolverhampton last time and they may well dominate this contest, too, with the former fancied to uphold the positions. Dark Side Prince is on a reasonable mark and arrives on the back of a solid showing at the same track, so he's not ruled out.
Returning to 5f can spark a bigger effort from JEANS MAITE and she can win from Dark Side Prince and Reigning Profit.

1st (3) (13/8 +28%) King Viktor |
13/8(+28%) | (3) King Viktor 13/8, Course winner. Off 18 months, caught the eye when sixth of 11 in C&D handicap 48 days ago, not given hard time after meeting some trouble. Given a chance to build on that promise. Back to a good mark and his recent C&D return from a long absence was encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/5 +40%) Show No Fear |
6/5(+40%) | (7) Show No Fear 6/5, 7/1, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Newcastle (16.2f) 7 days ago, very much having run of race from the front but still doing it easily. Player under a 5 lb penalty. Made all for a comfortable win last week at Newcastle, for which he is penalised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/1 +30%) Vision Of Hope |
7/1(+30%) | (1) Vision Of Hope 7/1, Course winner. Also successful twice over hurdles early last summer. Respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at Lingfield 29 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Significantly up in trip. Hood back on. Well held in two runs for this yard but she is a winner and the hood now returns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (25/1 -79%) Bond Spirit |
25/1(-79%) | (5) Bond Spirit 25/1, Course winner. 33/1, last of 11 in handicap at Lingfield 11 days ago. Must improve. Dual 1m4f Tapeta winner; trailed home last at Lingfield 11 days ago after a lengthy break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (25/1 -150%) Freewheelin |
25/1(-150%) | (8) Freewheelin 25/1, Modest performer. Respectable third of 7 in handicap (10/3) at Wetherby (2mf, good to firm) in June (final start for Tom Tate). Off 7 months ahead of first run for new yard. Dual Tapeta winner but off since June and has changed hands for £3,500. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/1 +50%) Central City |
10/1(+50%) | (6) Central City 10/1, Course winner but well held on both outings for this yard. Back on a workable mark but need to see more. Nine wins on the AW but down the field in both his runs for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (40/1 -186%) Pacific |
40/1(-186%) | (4) Pacific 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden on Flat. 200/1, seventh of 9 in novice at this course (11f) 21 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Improvement will be needed. Has shown very little in a bumper and three middle-distance AW novices. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
SHOW NO FEAR was able to capitalise on a decent spell of form when romping home over an extended 2m at Newcastle last Friday and the son of Churchill, who is 1lb well-in under a 5lb penalty, is fancied to repeat the dose. King Viktor wasn't beaten far into sixth over C&D last time so he must be respected eased 1lb in the ratings. Socially Shady appeals most of the remainder.
KING VIKTOR offered enough to think he retains his ability on his comeback outing here in November and is preferred to last week's ready all-the-way Newcastle winner Show No Fear. Socially Shady has been placed on his last 2 outings and is another who could have a say.
A chance is taken on KING VIKTOR who is well handicapped and whose recent return from a long absence was quite acceptable.

1st (1) (3/1 +0%) Smokey Malone |
3/1(+0%) | (1) Smokey Malone 3/1, C&D winner. Running creditably on turf when last seen in the autumn and player if ready to roll after a short break. C&D win off this mark last April; off since quiet run in September; may come on for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (33/1 -371%) Molly Mischief |
33/1(-371%) | (5) Molly Mischief 33/1, Modest form in AW novice/maiden events. Has moved stable again ahead of this handicap debut. Big step up in trip for her handicap/stable debut; market useful after 286 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -25%) Cold Henry |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Cold Henry 5/1, 13/2, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (2m) 7 days ago and had been placed over 2m here prior to that. Merits consideration. Went close over C&D last June; below very best last week but type to bounce back quickly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (17/2 -240%) Swaffham Bulbeck |
17/2(-240%) | (6) Swaffham Bulbeck 17/2, Faily useful hurdler, including a course win in September. His second over 2m at Kempton back in January shows he can make an impact from his lowly Flat mark. Pretty useful hurdler; rarely seen on the Flat these days but he's handicapped to go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/2 +25%) Heatherdown Hero |
9/2(+25%) | (7) Heatherdown Hero 9/2, One win from 27 Flat runs. 7/2, ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (2m) 7 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Poor strike-rate but conditions suit and he ran well penultimate start; below par latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (5/1 +58%) Crazy Crackers |
5/1(+58%) | (4) Crazy Crackers 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue strap on first time, sixth of 8 in handicap at Catterick 82 days ago. Others have achieved more. Promise over shorter trips; absent since struggling on heavy over this trip in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/3 +33%) Scarborough Castle |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Scarborough Castle 10/3, Course winner. Below par when sixth of 9 in handicap (11/1) at Lingfield 29 days ago. Claims on his penultimate Wolverhampton second. Dual course winner; should leave last month's reappearance behind him; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (33/1 -32%) Kitten's Dream |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Kitten's Dream 33/1, Unreliable individual. C&D winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. 33/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton 6 days ago. Slow starter with a patchy record in the last 12 months; others are much safer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A chance can be taken on SWAFFHAM BULBECK, who looks well treated from his current Flat rating when compared to a mark of 127 over hurdles. Stuart Edmunds' 10-year-old shades preference over previous C&D winner Smokey Malone, whose consistent profile ought to bode well in a race of this nature. Scarborough Castle was never involved over 1m4f last time, but he's worth a second look back over further.
SMOKEY MALONE returns to AW off the same mark as when successful over C&D last spring and is worth siding with having been in decent form on turf when last seen in the autumn. Cold Henry is a pretty consistent operator in low-grade staying events and is second choice ahead of Swaffham Bulbeck.
Cold Henry looks set to go well but SWAFFHAM BULBECK is preferred on a rare Flat outing.
Ths is the racecard key.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
