1st (1) (10/11 -25%) Cabhfuilfungi |
10/11(-25%) | (1) Cabhfuilfungi 10/11, Fair hurdles winner who has found improvement since sent chasing, finishing runner-up in a pair of Uttoxeter handicaps (both 16f) in October. Hampered and unseated rider early on at Ludlow latest and looks the one to beat here. Runner-up in first two starts over fences and had excuse when unseating latest; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/2 +21%) Doc Mccoy |
11/2(+21%) | (2) Doc Mccoy 11/2, Impressive winner on sole start in points and successful start to hurdle career at Huntingdon on return last season. Struggled under a penalty next 2 starts, however, and ran poorly on chasing bow at Windsor last month. Back from another absence when tailed off on handicap/chase debut at Windsor; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/4 +77%) Bold Reaction |
6/4(+77%) | (3) Bold Reaction 6/4, Bumper winner who was fair over hurdles for Nicky Henderson and posted creditable start for new yard when third of 4 on handicap chase debut at Wetherby (15.2f) in November. Not in same form over longer trip at Doncaster since but can't be ruled out. Has a patchy profile and was well held at Doncaster (2m3f) last time; risks attached. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having been badly hampered by a faller and unseating his rider early on at Ludlow, CABHFUILFUNGI is worth persevering with. Kerry Lee's inmate had previously filled the runner-up spot on both outings at Uttoxeter in October and he looks ready to open his account over fences. Commanding View is entitled to build on his reappearance, when fourth on his chase bow at Warwick, and is feared most, ahead of Doc McCoy.
CABHFUILFUNGI had no luck when an early casualty at Ludlow last time but had made a solid start to his chase career previously and can gain a deserved first success in this sphere. Commanding View may give him most to think about.
Preference is for CABHFUILFUNGI, who was runner-up in his first two chase starts and was unlucky when unseating early on last time.

1st (7) (6/1 +40%) Prince Cleni |
6/1(+40%) | (7) Prince Cleni 6/1, Both wins have come over C&D and he arrives on the back of a respectable third in a 7-runner handicap at Sedgefield (26.3f, soft) 26 days ago. Place claims look solid. 2-2 over C&D which makes him of interest, though he probably wouldn't want too much rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (25/1 +0%) Dysania |
25/1(+0%) | (12) Dysania 25/1, Finally off the mark in novices' handicap chase at Lingfield on comeback last season but ran poorly at Fontwell last time and others make greater appeal from just out of the weights. Modest form since sole success at Lingfield in November 2023; 1lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 +22%) Felton Bellevue |
7/2(+22%) | (4) Felton Bellevue 7/2, Generally reliable and gained a deserved first win for over 2 years at Southwell in March. Best effort since when second at Market Rasen (23.9f, soft, 4/1) 27 days ago and he's respected. Second and first in two starts over C&D at the start of 2024; back to form last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (16/1 0%) Faitque De L'isle |
16/1(0%) | (9) Faitque De L'isle 16/1, Over 2 years since his sole success and went the wrong way from his reappearance when fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Market Rasen (19.2f, soft) 27 days ago. Step up in trip should suit and cheekpieces go on, so not fully ruled out yet from handy mark. 19lb below sole winning mark, but needs to do better than in first two starts for the yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (3/1 +45%) Big Bee Hive |
3/1(+45%) | (3) Big Bee Hive 3/1, Won at Southwell and Cartmel in the spring and has shaped as if in good heart this winter, running respectably in a higher grade than he need contest at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) 25 days ago. Has good chance on form. Did well over fences in first half of 2024; return to form wouldn't be a surprise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (8/1 +0%) Gibberwell |
8/1(+0%) | (10) Gibberwell 8/1, Produced one of his better efforts from just out of the weights when fourth of 13 in handicap chase at Carlisle (26.2f, soft) 31 days ago. Respected if able to back that up. 1lb above last winning mark, but not sure this trip on a sharp track is ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (8/1 +11%) Macfin |
8/1(+11%) | (2) Macfin 8/1, Placed all 3 starts switched to fences for Nigel Twiston-Davies during 2021/22 campaign. Won 4 of 6 starts between the flags in the interim subsequently and wasn't seen to best effect back under Rules at Stratford last time, so not fully discounted. Ran better than finishing position would suggest on return from a long absence in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (11/1 +56%) Wexford Park |
11/1(+56%) | (8) Wexford Park 11/1, Placed both starts in points but little show under Rules so far, folding alarmingly tamely sent chasing at Uttoxeter when last seen in May. Plenty to prove. Well beaten in four starts over hurdles and pulled up on chase debut; off eight months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (17/2 +15%) Ismael |
17/2(+15%) | (5) Ismael 17/2, Modest winner at 20f over hurdles but ran below that on his completed start over fences at Wetherby (19.4f, heavy, 9/2) 25 days ago. More needed. Took a heavy fall on chase debut and well held last time; best watched for now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
C&D winner Felton Bellevue warrants strong consideration returning to the scene of his last success, and last month's runner-up effort at Market Rasen suggested that he's ready to strike. However, MACFIN showed up well for a long way before fading into eighth on his comeback at Stratford in October and Tom Lacey's nine-year-old could be worth chancing with that run under his belt. Big Bee Hive may fare best of the remainder.
BIG BEE HIVE has been in better heart than his recent form figures suggest and Sam England's gelding can notch a third win of the season. Felton Bellevue is a largely consistent performer at this level and should be in the mix again on the back of a sound effort at Market Rasen, with course-specialist Prince Cleni completing the shortlist.
The vote goes to FELTON BELLEVUE who showed good form over C&D early in 2024. He remains off his last winning mark.

1st (2) (13/8 +59%) Stormin Crossgales |
13/8(+59%) | (2) Stormin Crossgales 13/8, Looked about as good as ever on his third start for the stable when taking 2m Doncaster handicap chase 3 weeks ago. No banker to back that up, while he's unproven over this far also. Made all at Doncaster (2m) latest but this big step back up in trip is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (1/1 +9%) Stringtoyourbow |
1/1(+9%) | (4) Stringtoyourbow 1/1, Very much going the right way over fences now, following up his victory here (3m) in Musselburgh novice handicap over this trip with a good bit to spare. Strong claims in hat-trick bid up 6 lb. Won his last two including a comfortable success back at 2m4f last time; big player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (9/1 +44%) Russian Ruler |
9/1(+44%) | (5) Russian Ruler 9/1, Ended last term out of sorts for Nicky Henderson and no better when easy to back and well beaten in C&D handicap for new yard 4 weeks ago. Still lightly raced over fences but has stamina to prove among other things. Headgear back on. Mark is tumbling but he has form figures of 4PPP over fences; needs a major turnaround. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (8/1 +20%) Bennys King |
8/1(+20%) | (1) Bennys King 8/1, Not the force of old but has paid his way in hunters in recent seasons and was second in the Foxhunters' at Aintree in April. Has failed to complete in his last 7 handicaps, the last time he did manage to get around in such company 4 years ago, but his mark has fallen accordingly. On dangerous mark but he's failed to complete back in handicaps in his last two runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
The hat-trick seeking STRINGTOYOURBOW has impressed with his jumping in victory at this venue and Musselburgh, and another bold display is forecast. A 6lb rise for the eight-year-old's latest triumph at the Scottish track looks more than workable and he rates a more solid proposition than Doncaster winner Stormin Crossgales, who is a potential improver up in distance but is likely to face stiffer opposition for the lead. Jaramillo could also feature.
STRINGTOYOURBOW is really motoring over fences now and could be hard to catch in his hat-trick bid. Jaramillo might be the danger.
Top of the list is STRINGTOYOURBOW, who won here and at Musselburgh in his last two starts and is open to more progress.

1st (2) (2/5 +50%) Moon Rocket |
2/5(+50%) | (2) Moon Rocket 2/5, Bought for £92,000 after easily getting off the mark in Irish points at the second attempt in April and looked a useful prospect when following up on his Doncaster hurdling debut (20.8f) in November. Sure to do better and taken to defy a penalty up in trip. Left clear two out at Doncaster last time but may have won anyway; strong candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (66/1 -164%) Just A Memory |
66/1(-164%) | (5) Just A Memory 66/1, Some promise in bumpers and shaped as if better for the run sent hurdling in a first-time tongue strap after 9 months off when sixth of 9 in a novice at Fontwell (19.1f, soft) 22 days ago. Up in trip. Well beaten on hurdles debut at Fontwell last month; plenty more required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/2 -100%) Silver Thorn |
7/2(-100%) | (3) Silver Thorn 7/2, Reached the frame in 2 bumpers and made a successful hurdle debut in a 2¾m Stratford maiden (heavy) in October. Ran to a similar level in defeat in a much stronger race at Newbury since and should be suited by this step up to 3m. Stratford winner who was well held in a warm race at Newbury; may fare better here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (100/1 -203%) Superior Glance |
100/1(-203%) | (6) Superior Glance 100/1, Won her sole start in point bumpers in 2020 and shaped with a bit of encouragement making a belated hurdling/Rules debut at this course (20.4f) 16 days ago. This will reveal a bit more. Winner of a point bumper but well held on hurdles debut here after four years off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 +40%) Socialiser |
12/1(+40%) | (4) Socialiser 12/1, From the family of Simonsig and Dusart. Point winner who finished second in a 3m Fakenham hunter chase on his Rules debut in May 2022 and was given a considerate introduction to hurdling at Chepstow 31 months on. Some ability on return from a mammoth absence in November, but was still well beaten. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (8/1 +33%) Holokea |
8/1(+33%) | (1) Holokea 8/1, Irish point/bumper winner who got back on track when making a successful hurdling debut over C&D in October. However, ran to only a similar level in first-time cheekpieces at Ffos Las since and looks vulnerable for win purposes once again. C&D winner in October but well held under his penalty; may not want too much rain. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MOON ROCKET created quite the impression when bolting up on his hurdling bow at Doncaster and given that a step up in trip promises to suit this point-to-point winner, he is fancied to repeat the dose. Stratford scorer Silver Thorn finished fifth behind brilliant Challow hero The New Lion at Newbury last time out and is respected in this less competitive affair, while Holokea appeals most of the remainder.
MOON ROCKET looked a useful prospect in making a successful hurdling debut at Doncaster in November, and with better to come, is a straightforward choice to defy a penalty at the first time of asking over this longer trip. Silver Thorn looks the obvious threat.
There looks to be more to come from MOON ROCKET after his successful hurdles debut at Doncaster in November.

1st (1) (5/1 -50%) All The Glory |
5/1(-50%) | (1) All The Glory 5/1, Confirmed previous promise when scoring with something in hand at Musselburgh last time and it's probably not her limit, so she's fancied to go well again. Hit a personal best with a smooth win at Musselburgh (2m4f); strongly respected up 8lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/2 -22%) Sunset Hill |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Sunset Hill 11/2, Unplaced in points but left previous hurdling efforts behind when comfortably opening her account in a novice at Kelso last time. More to come now handicapping, so merits respect. Easy win in 2m5f novice last month and she's open to more progress on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (8/1 +20%) Eileen's Orders |
8/1(+20%) | (7) Eileen's Orders 8/1, Modest form in bumpers 5 months apart and there has been something to work on with both her hurdling outings, third in a novice at Fontwell last time. Opening mark looks feasible. Promising efforts in novice events this winter and needs a close look on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (28/1 -133%) Uokhun |
28/1(-133%) | (9) Uokhun 28/1, Promise when third in mares' novice hurdles at Wetherby and Hexham, and she filled the same spot on handicap debut in a 5-runner contest at Fakenham (2m, good to soft) 10 days ago. Remains with potential in this sphere. Fair third on handicap debut at Fakenham but this is much tougher in this deeper race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (5/1 -25%) Kalista Love |
5/1(-25%) | (8) Kalista Love 5/1, Best effort to date over hurdles when runner-up at Sedgefield last time, finishing with running left after suffering interference. Good chance that an opening mark of 101 underestimates her. Close second in Sedgefield maiden latest and she looks interesting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (3/1 +81%) Rialannah |
3/1(+81%) | (6) Rialannah 3/1, Remains a maiden following 9 attempts in this sphere. Ran as well as could be expected when fourth in a handicap at Huntingdon last time but doesn't appear to have anything in hand. Fair efforts last twice but she's still a maiden and hasn't progressed over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (5/2 +55%) Molto Bene |
5/2(+55%) | (2) Molto Bene 5/2, Improved again when seeing off 16 rivals on her 19.5f Chepstow reappearance in November. Solid showing in a stronger race at Cheltenham since but this looks more realistic. Two wins from seven runs and not beaten far in Class 2 at Cheltenham latest; in the mix. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SUNSET HILL appeared to relish a step up in trip when recording a facile success over 2m5f at Kelso last month. It's hard to know exactly what that form is worth, but an opening mark of 114 looks fair and she might continue her progression. All The Glory won under Ben Macey here in November and merits respect, despite going up 8lb in the ratings. Near the foot of the handicap, Kalista Love could also have a say.
KALISTA LOVE's latest effort was eye-catching and she may have been in let in lightly from her opening mark, so she takes narrow preference over All The Glory, who ran out an impressive winner at Musselburgh last time. Sunset Hill is another one with potential.
An interesting race in which the vote goes to ALL THE GLORY, who hit a personal best with her smooth success at Musselburgh last time.

1st (2) (9/2 +50%) Alnilam |
9/2(+50%) | (2) Alnilam 9/2, A fair winner on the Flat who has improved for his current yard, hooded when an excellent second in 2m handicaps at Wetherby and Ascot in November. Since had a wind op. Considered. Just beaten in both starts after returning in November; has had a wind op; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 -9%) Balhambar |
3/1(-9%) | (6) Balhambar 3/1, Fairly useful on the Flat for Michael Bell and much improved over hurdles since handicapping, winning at Ludlow and Bangor in April. Posted a very good third of 15 in 2m handicap hurdle at Cheltenham 47 days ago (form franked) so he's a player. Won twice in April and finished a fine third at Cheltenham last time; big run seems likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/2 +31%) Rock House |
9/2(+31%) | (7) Rock House 9/2, Took a step back in the right direction after 8 months off when third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (15.8f, heavy) 24 days ago. Very much one to consider off the same mark. Looked promising in 2023, but he hasn't built on it in the meantime; others more solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (40/1 -122%) Luttrell Lad |
40/1(-122%) | (5) Luttrell Lad 40/1, Scored at Cartmel in July 2023. Some good efforts in defeat since but he has failed to beat a rival on his last two outings, off 5 months before last of 8 at Kempton 37 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Back off his last winning mark, but has failed to beat a rival in his last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/1 -50%) Pretending |
9/1(-50%) | (8) Pretending 9/1, Resumed with a 2m4f win at Uttoxeter and not disgraced when eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Cheltenham (20.2f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Down in trip and one for the shortlist. Two wins in 2024 but last two efforts were disappointing; bit to prove dropping in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +36%) Afadil |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Afadil 9/2, Landed a Musselburgh handicap last February but yet to hit top form this term, fifth of 9 in 2m Ascot handicap last time. Needs to take a big step forward. 1lb below last winning mark but finished about 13l behind Alnilam at Ascot last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (5/1 +23%) Norman Fletcher |
5/1(+23%) | (3) Norman Fletcher 5/1, Resumed winning ways at Huntingdon in November and backed it up with a good third of 8 in handicap hurdle at Doncaster (16.6f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Has done well since going hurdling; third at Doncaster last month was another good effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 +14%) Anyharminasking |
12/1(+14%) | (1) Anyharminasking 12/1, Useful hurdler who was a creditable third of 13 over 2½m at Cheltenham on his reappearance but has been below par at Newbury and back there since. More is needed. Still 3lb higher than when last successful at the start of 2022 and others are preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
BALHAMBAR was beaten just two lengths into third in a warm handicap at Cheltenham in November and was put up 4lb for that effort. Harry Derham's six-year-old continues to improve and could get his head back in front. Alnilam has filled the runner-up spot on each of his last two starts, most recently at Ascot, and should remain competitive after undergoing wind surgery. Rock House finished a fair third at Huntingdon on his reappearance and completes the shortlist.
A few with chances but Harry Derham's BALHAMBAR is enjoying a good time of it in this sphere and looks the way to go on the back of his very good Cheltenham third (form working out well). Rock House is weighted to have a say and next on the list with Norman Fletcher and Alnilam both well in the mix too.
This may be the day ALNILAM returns to winning form having been only narrowly beaten in both starts since returning in November.

Soldier's Leap |
(7) (11/2 -10%)11/2(-10%) | (7) Soldier's Leap 11/2, Runner-up sole outing in points but well held on first 3 starts over hurdles. However, sent handicapping he improved when 5 lengths second of 9 to Motazzen at Fontwell (17.7f, soft) in December. Could still have more to offer with tongue tie added. Runner-up behind Motazzen at Fontwell and he still has untapped potential; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (6) (2/5 +80%) Motazzen |
2/5(+80%) | (6) Motazzen 2/5, Confirmed promise of previous run when scoring at Fontwell (17.7f) on first start in December, before following up in conditional jockeys' race back there (19.1f, soft) on Boxing Day. Is going the right way and can go on to land the hat-trick. Won at Fontwell last twice and escapes a penalty for his win on Boxing Day; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (15/2 +53%) Eric Carmen |
15/2(+53%) | (9) Eric Carmen 15/2, Irish point winner who capitalised on his falling mark over hurdles at this course (20.4f, heavy) in May. However, has tended to find little since, tried back over fences on his last 5 starts. Has had a wind op ahead of return to hurdling. Course winner who has possibilities if he can revive back over hurdles; had wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 -100%) Nedzor |
5/1(-100%) | (4) Nedzor 5/1, Runner-up in a point and promise on 2 of his 3 starts in novice hurdles in 2023/24. Well backed ahead of reappearance/handicap debut and shaped promisingly when runner-up at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) in December. Respected. Good second in Leicester handicap on comeback last month; respected up 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/1 +45%) Jack Hoola |
11/1(+45%) | (1) Jack Hoola 11/1, Runner-up in an Irish point but little impact in novice/maiden hurdles, again carrying head awkwardly when seventh of 11 at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) 22 days ago. Has work to do as he goes handicapping. Unexposed 5yo and he's a possible improver on handicap debut; needs watching in market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (25/1 +0%) Dreams Fled Away |
25/1(+0%) | (3) Dreams Fled Away 25/1, Successful twice on the AW in Ireland in early-2024 and stepped up on qualifying runs in this sphere when second at Fakenham (16f, good) in October. However, weakened quickly when pulled up at Fontwell (17.7f, good to soft) last time. Lightly raced over hurdles but he needs to bounce back after a pulled-up effort last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MOTAZZEN successfully completed a double in a conditionals' handicap at Fontwell on Boxing Day and is able to compete off an unchanged rating. The seven-year-old can cope with this drop in trip in order to go in again. Soldier's Leap finished five lengths behind the selection when filling the runner-up spot last time and could prove to be the main threat again. Eric Carmen is another to watch out for.
After a run on the Flat, MOTAZZEN has shown improved form back over hurdles on his last 3 starts, sticking to his task well when making it back-to-back wins at Fontwell 6 days ago, so he looks to hold leading claims without a penalty for his recent success. Nedzor is feared most after his promising handicap debut last time, ahead of Soldier's Leap.
This can go to the progressive MOTAZZEN (nap), who escapes a penalty for his win over a clear second at Fontwell on Boxing Day.
Ths is the racecard key.
