12:55 Sedgefield Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MR ESCOBAR will be the first of Willie Mullins' Closutton outfit to grace this track and he appeals as the one to beat. A useful sort on the Flat, he chased home a stablemate for second at Listowel on his latest start over hurdles. This race doesn't look as deep and any further improvement can see him go one better. Maghlaak was equally as useful on the level but he will need to leave a disappointing hurdling bow behind him, while the 107-rated Kingston Narcissus, twice a runner-up over this C&D, heads the remainder.

MR ESCOBAR is something of a ticking timebomb in terms of temperament but did little wrong when thwarted only by a stablemate at Listowel on his most recent outing in this sphere in September and sets a pretty high standard. Kingston Narcissus is likely to give his running once again, while Maghlaak should do better in this sphere at some stage given his fairly useful Flat form.

Willie Mullins' first Sedgefield runner MR ESCOBAR has his quirks but sets a clear standard on hurdling form.

13:25 Sedgefield Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

National Question pulled well clear with the runner-up when on target by a narrow margin at Hexham last time and he may have more to offer after a 5lb rise, but the vote goes to BATHGATE. Philip Kirby's charge has yet to truly shine in handicaps, but better was expected at Ayr recently. Eased a further 1lb in the handicap and dropped in trip, the four-year-old might be able to sustain his finishing effort now. Others to note include King Otis and Trafalgar Square.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE took his form up a notch with a recent C&D fourth and can now capitalise on a handy-looking mark on his first venture into handicap company. La Quarite started life well for his new stable when sixth at Newcastle and heads the list of dangers with King Otis, National Question, Bathgate and Lahire all in the mix too.

This can go to LAHIRE, who ran one of his best races since winning over C&D last year when fourth in a Kelso handicap last time.

14:00 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

There has been no stopping CLEAN GETAWAY of late. A C&D winner over fences from 3lb lower in October, the son of Getaway has since recorded a brace of hurdling successes and there could be more to come. Mutual Respect completed a double in somewhat fortuitous fashion at Bangor last time out but he merits respect from 2lb higher nonetheless. Minella Youngy showed more at Hexham recently and is another to enter calculations from 6lb below his last winning mark.

AUGHARUE was headed only late on by a subsequent winner at Kelso last month and he looks ready to shed his maiden tag. Thriving pair Clean Getaway and Mutual Respect are the obvious threats.

The most obvious answer is bang-in-form 7yo CLEAN GETAWAY (nap), who has already collected three course wins this autumn.

14:30 Sedgefield Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LASER FOCUS arrives here on the back of two impressive victories earlier in the month and the progressive six-year-old is hard to oppose, despite being 20lb higher than when successful at Fakenham last time. Harper Valley hit the crossbar at Kelso a couple of weeks ago and could prove to be the main threat to the selection. Others to note are Knacker Trapper and Punxsutawney Phil.

The vote goes to HARPER VALLEY, who landed this race last year and looks poised for a repeat following his recent near miss at Kelso. Knacker Trapper's turn also appears near judged on his solid placed efforts the last twice, while the hat-trick seeking Laser Focus has to be feared. Salsada is not the easiest to predict but she will have a serious chance if on-song.

Laser Focus is in superb form but HARPER VALLEY might win this race for the second year running.

15:00 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Bebside Banter beat The Paddy Pie into second over C&D three weeks ago and both are likely to be in the mix once again. That said, preference is for PEP TALKING, who bounced back to form on his second start for this yard when scoring over 2m4f at Uttoxeter at the beginning of the month. A 5lb rise for that win appears to be fair as he may have more improvement to come.

PEP TALKING raised his game when scoring on second start for this yard at Uttoxeter and looks capable of going in again off this 5 lb higher mark. He won't have things all his own way, though, as Bebside Banter is carving out a reputation as something of a course specialist (form figures over fences here read 1121). Kicksaftersix has been knocking on the door and he is third choice ahead of The Paddy Pie, who was second to Bebside Banter over C&D last time, and top-weight Tom Creen.

The vote goes to TOM CREEN, who ran well when third here last time and overall has a good record on this track.

15:30 Sedgefield NH Flat Race (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SNAPAUDACIAHEROS confirmed the promise that she displayed on debut when finishing second in a Southwell bumper on her latest outing in June. If finding any further improvement, the four-year-old could be hard to beat in this company. However, Moonbow has to be of interest having won between the flags earlier in the year, while Is That Alright and Old Blue Eyes are others to note.

The market will be revealing but OLD BLUE EYES is a half-brother to a dual-bumper winner for the same connections so a winning debut at this sort of level would come as no surprise. Moonbow and Sweetlikechocolate displayed ability in points so they need considering, along with Snapaudaciaheros.

It could be worth taking a chance on the well-bred OLD BLUE EYES making a winning debut with Is That Alright another to consider.
