LTO Selection:

14:05 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Trainer Sam England won this in 2020 and has a good chance of following up that success here with TOM CREEN. Twice a winner from three starts over fences at this venue, he does need a career best off this mark but he won first time out last season. Clondaw Pretender hasn't been seen since February 2022 but his stable are in good form and is one to consider, while Fakir has won off 20lb higher in the past and is difficult to ignore off his current mark.

TOM CREEN did well over fences last season, winning twice here (including on return) and unlucky to bump into a handicap blot at Huntingdon on final start, so has solid claims. Dual-point winner Present Fair should do better now handicapping/chasing so is feared most.

The Donald McCain-trained point winner PRESENT FAIR is open to improvement on this chase debut and earns the vote.

(1) Best Guess 28/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 10.5f) but a well-held last of 7 on his Hamilton handicap debut last month. Probably best watched now hurdling.
Modest four-race maiden on the Flat; new code needs to spark something extra.
LTO Selection:

14:40 Sedgefield Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With little hurdling form to go on, Best Guess merits consideration but he will need to step up on his Flat form to have a say here. Swiss Money pulled too hard to have any chance on his hurdling bow at Stratford and could settle better now, but MAKANAO is narrowly preferred. Second at Fontwell earlier in the month, he has won on the level in France and can only improve for that experience.

Milton Harris is seeking a hat-trick of wins in this race and SWISS MONEY is selected to leave the form of his hurdle debut in July behind with a tongue tie added back from a 3-month break. Fontwell runner-up Makanao is the obvious danger unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Jennie Candlish hurdle newcomer I'm Too Tired.

A weak race in which I'M TOO TIRED is tentatively preferred to Swiss Money.

LTO Selection:

15:15 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 27f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Fiston Du Mou didn't jump with his usual fluency when sixth on his return here recently but as the only C&D winner in the field, he warrants plenty of respect and may do better now. Ali Star Bert could also get involved, but a chance is taken on TOMMYDAN. The eight-year-old won over 3m at Hexham a couple of weeks ago and a 4lb rise for that success appears to be fair.

POST CHAISE is back down in class on his return so could be worth chancing with his yard in red-hot form. Ali Star Bert and Tommydan are others to consider.

Post Chaise is interesting upped in trip for his return but the unexposed handicap debutant BALLYLINCH gets the nod.

LTO Selection:

15:50 Sedgefield Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LANGTON WOLD must hold every chance on the back of a highly encouraging hurdling debut over C&D 11 days ago, where he was not beaten far into second. With improvement expected, he can get the better of the Newcastle runner-up Five Dollar Fine, as well as Easter Junction, who was still in contention when unseating two out at Bangor-on-Dee earlier in the month.

EASTER JUNCTION was in the process of making a promising start to his hurdle career when unseating 2 out at Bangor and is taken to provide the Donald McCain/Brian Hughes combination with a second successive win in this contest. Tommy Time has achieved enough in bumpers to suggest he has a bright future over jumps and is second choice ahead of Brian Ellison's Langton Wold.

Kilta shaped quite nicely on his stable debut but FIVE DOLLAR FINE might make a winning return to action.

LTO Selection:

16:25 Sedgefield Handicap Chase (Class 2) 29f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

JESUITIQUE has made a promising start to his career over the larger obstacles and it may be that the step up to this extreme distance could bring out the best in him. The eight-year-old remains on a workable mark and is narrowly preferred to the easy Cartmel winner Marshalled, who ran well when placed here in April. Irish raider The Abbey is another to note having won twice in May.

MARSHALLED arrives on the up and with this stiffer test of stamina promising to suit Ben Haslam's son of Flemensfirth he is taken to follow up his impressive recent Cartmel success. No Cruise Yet is a likeable type and could emerge as the chief threat on his seasonal return ahead of the consistent Geryville and handily-weighed Irish challenger The Abbey.

Cases can be made for all of these. NO CRUISE YET is proven at the trip and is a major player on last season's best efforts.

LTO Selection:

17:00 Sedgefield Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Imperial Data stayed on well when getting up to win in the dying strides over C&D earlier this month and a 5lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid. However, Rebecca Menzies' gelding may be worth taking on now upped in class with IMPULSIVE ONE. The five-year-old has undergone a wind procedure since an unsuccessful spell over fences and returns to this sphere off a handy mark. Gordons Aura is a potential improver now upped in distance and he could have a say too.

IMPERIAL DATA has gone 2-2 since undergoing breathing surgery and this low-mileage C&D winner is fancied to make light of a 5 lb weights rise and complete a quick hat-trick. Barrichello has won when fresh so could emerge as the chief threat on his seasonal return ahead of Hajey and Impulsive One.

Two-time C&D winner HAJEY (nap) reappeared with an encouraging third at Hexham recently and is taken to regain the winning thread.

LTO Selection:

17:35 Sedgefield NH Flat Race (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BRECHIN CASTLE justified short odds when landing an Irish point-to-point in February and his half-brother Wynn House won a bumper on his Rules debut. Vision De Maine boasts a similar profile and is feared most, while it is also worth considering Easy To Follow. She debuts for the Dr Richard Newland stable and brings some solid point-to-point form to the table.

BRECHIN CASTLE fetched six figures after landing his only outing in points and represents an in-form stable, so he's preferred to fellow point recruit Vision de Maine, whose yard does well in this sphere. Easy To Follow is also considered.

This could rest between the two point winners and narrow preference is for BRECHIN CASTLE ahead of Vision De Maine.
