1st (4) (11/4 +45%) Chemical Warfare |
11/4(+45%) | (4) Chemical Warfare 11/4, Has been in good form, winning twice in the summer, and proving stamina for this trip when going close at Uttoxeter. New mark has kicked in but he could go well. Hurdling last time; had been in a fine run of form over fences; still on competitive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 +38%) Getaway Glory |
5/2(+38%) | (2) Getaway Glory 5/2, Successful pointer who surpassed his hurdles form when making a winning chase debut at Huntingdon (3m) in April. Given a break since a poor effort at Worcester 2 months ago and could resume progress over this longer trip. Below par last time but had been going well; strong chance if back in the zone. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (25/1 +24%) Muroor |
25/1(+24%) | (10) Muroor 25/1, Unreliable type who showed he retains some ability after 14 months off when third at Hexham in June. More needed again now. Good late work on return from a 432-day absence to finish third at Hexham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 -43%) Whataboutyeh |
5/1(-43%) | (6) Whataboutyeh 5/1, Off the mark over fences in staying handicap at Cartmel in June 2023 but failed to meet expectations next 2 starts. Type to resume progress if all is well after 14 months off. Chase winner open to further improvement but has a long absence to overcome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (10/3 +17%) Debacle |
10/3(+17%) | (11) Debacle 10/3, Winning pointer. Poor form under Rules, but has joined powerful yard since last seen (sold from Debra Hamer £1,000 in June) and interesting if subject of market support fitted with new headgear. Joined a respected yard but for only £1,000 and record under rules is poor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (17/2 +15%) Eightytwo Team |
17/2(+15%) | (8) Eightytwo Team 17/2, Holding her form better although typically made hard work of things when held in second at Market Rasen 5 weeks ago. Others preferred. Clear of the rest when no match for the winner last time; chance if seeing this trip out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EIGHTYTWO TEAM made eye-catching late headway when finishing runner-up over an extended 2m5f at Market Rasen last month and, with the step back up in trip promising to suit, she gets the vote to land the spoils off an unchanged mark. Whataboutyeh has been expensive to follow on his last couple of starts but has slipped to an attractive mark and looks the main danger to the selection. Ingennio shaped like this return to further will suit when finishing second over an extended 2m6f at Stratford latest and he completes the shortlist.
WHATABOUTYEH hasn't been seen for 14 months but should have more to offer in low-grade staying handicap chases if all is well and is worth chancing. Debacle would be very interesting if the subject of market support starting out for Fergal O'Brien. Getaway Glory and Ingennio also make the shortlist.
David Pipe's CHEMICAL WARFARE (nap) arrives here in a good run of form and he's not yet fully exposed as a thorough stayer.

1st (5) (13/2 -86%) Lion City |
13/2(-86%) | (5) Lion City 13/2, Plugged on for fourth of 5 at Naas (heavy) on debut in February. No real surprise cheekpieces were fitted at Worcester and he travelled with more purpose, ultimately finishing third. Not far behind Fiskardo when third at Worcester last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 +50%) Cloudy View |
5/2(+50%) | (1) Cloudy View 5/2, Dam (h98), maiden hurdler (stayed 2½m), sister to fairly useful 2m hurdle winner Humphrey Bogart. Big price but made a winning debut in 9-runner bumper at Uttoxeter in July. Since left Paul Collins and there could be more to come for this yard. Finished well to record 16-1 success on debut at Uttoxeter; now with new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 +44%) Masterpiece |
14/1(+44%) | (6) Masterpiece 14/1, Brother to a winner on Flat and half-brother to 3 winners, including fair hurdler Yukon. Dam 1m winner who stayed 11.5f. No impact starting out at Doncaster in February. Well beaten on debut in February; may fare better on the faster ground here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/4 +66%) Saxon Star |
11/4(+66%) | (8) Saxon Star 11/4, Good claims on her debut third at Musselburgh in February but struggled in stronger 'junior' contest at Kempton a month later. Not seen since 28l defeat at Kempton in March but has claims if judged on debut run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CLOUDY VIEW (first) belied his inexperience to got the better of Fiskardo (third) when the pair met in a Uttoxeter bumper in July and, having been subsequently been snapped up by his astute connections, the former can confirm his superiority over that rival en route to victory once more. Lowlands made a pleasing start when finishing fourth over that same C&D on her debut in July and she also merits consideration with the promise of more to come.
LOWLANDS displayed plenty of ability when fourth starting out at Uttoxeter in July and with a couple of winning hurdlers coming from that race, the form looks pretty solid. She therefore gets the vote, with Fiskardo and Cloudy View (starting out for new connections) feared most.
Nicky Richards' mare LOWLANDS made a very encouraging debut against her own sex at Uttoxeter in July and might be the answer.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
