1st (4) (0.73/1 +51%) Under The Sun |
0.73/1(+51%) | (4) Under The Sun 0.73/1, Shaped well when runner-up first 2 starts. Not quite at that level when sixth of 14 in valuable maiden at York (7f, good to firm, 5/2) 3 weeks ago, but he could yet do better as he goes up in trip. Not taken lightly. Sets good standard on his peak form and this step up in trip should suit; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (3.33/1 +17%) Wonder |
3.33/1(+17%) | (7) Wonder 3.33/1, In need of the experience but showed ability when third of 10 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to firm, 40/1) on debut 35 days ago. Open to improvement with this extra furlong to suit. Eyecatching third in newcomers' event at Newmarket and he's open to progress upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4.5/1 -111%) Show Biz Kid |
4.5/1(-111%) | (6) Show Biz Kid 4.5/1, Bred to be at least useful and made a promising start when fourth of 9 in maiden at Goodwood (1m, good to firm, 20/1) 10 days ago, best of the newcomers. Can take a step forward to open his account. Showed promise on his recent Goodwood debut and he should know more this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -33%) Move On In |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Move On In 12/1, Foaled February 27. 68,000 gns yearling, Masar colt. Half-brother to 2 winners, including useful winner up to 1m Master Richard. Dam 7f winner who stayed 1¼m. Yard has enjoyed plenty of success with their newcomers this year. Yard 18% with 2yos here in recent years and he needs watching in market on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (100/1 +0%) Bradman |
100/1(+0%) | (1) Bradman 100/1, Played up beforehand and very green during the race when eleventh of 12 in minor event at this C&D (good to firm, 100/1) on debut 8 days ago. Likely to need more time. Didn't show much at 100-1 in a C&D novice (good to firm) on his debut last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (66/1 -65%) Escape The Grape |
66/1(-65%) | (8) Escape The Grape 66/1, Foaled March 17. Cityscape colt. Dam, 2-y-o 5f winner, half-sister to useful winner up to 1½m (stays 16.5f) Benaud. May just be better for the experience. Represents in-form yard and market should guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (22/1 -193%) Dreams Of Valor |
22/1(-193%) | (2) Dreams Of Valor 22/1, Foaled February 24. €110,000 yearling, Inns of Court gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 7f Dance Fever and useful winner up to 6f Risk Adjusted. Trainer can ready one on debut. 110,000euros half-brother to seven winners; needs watching in market on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
UNDER THE SUN is presented with a good opportunity to open his account at the fourth time of asking. This is easier than the always-informative Convivial he contested at York last month and considering he was a well-supported favourite that day, his connections can be very hopeful now his sights are lowered. Show Biz Kid did well to finish fourth at Goodwood, while Wonder will have given connections plenty of encouragement with his Newmarket third.
SHOW BIZ KID shaped with plenty of encouragement when fourth in a Goodwood maiden 10 days ago, coming from much further back than the others in the frame, and he can progress from that first effort to get off the mark. Under The Sun is respected as he goes up in trip, while Wonder made a promising debut and completes the shortlist.
Under The Sun sets a good standard but preference is for WONDER, who was an eyecatching third on his Newmarket debut last month.

1st (2) (6.5/1 +46%) Mr Baloo |
6.5/1(+46%) | (2) Mr Baloo 6.5/1, Not in the same form as his previous outing when ninth of 10 in nursery at Kempton (6f, 10/1) 37 days ago. Improvement required as he goes up in trip. Two best runs have come over 5f; needs improvement for the longer trip if he's to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1.5/1 +25%) Mitwaa |
1.5/1(+25%) | (3) Mitwaa 1.5/1, Bred to be smart and got back on track switched to a nursery when second of 12 at Newbury (7f, good to firm, 12/1) 17 days ago, with She Wore No Jewels behind in third. Can make his presence felt. Good 2nd upped to 7f for nursery debut at Newbury 17 days ago; 3lb higher but more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5.5/1 +31%) Enpassant |
5.5/1(+31%) | (5) Enpassant 5.5/1, Unable to repeat his previous effort when ninth of 11 in maiden at this course (6f, good, 7/1) 48 days ago (gelded since). However, this longer trip should suit as he makes his handicap debut. Likely improver having been gelded & now switching to handicaps; progress is needed though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4.5/1 -100%) She Wore No Jewels |
4.5/1(-100%) | (6) She Wore No Jewels 4.5/1, Improved when third of 12 on nursery debut (33/1) at Newbury (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago, travelling well. Finished ½ length behind Mitwaa, but could reverse the form with further progress to come. Closely matched with Mitwaa on recent Newbury form; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (50/1 -25%) Alnoory Star |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Alnoory Star 50/1, Failed to improve when seventh of 8 on nursery debut at Ffos Las (6f, heavy, 25/1) 2 weeks ago. Has work to do back up in distance. Well-beaten 25-1 shot on recent nursery debut (6f); down 3lb but others are more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (6.5/1 -44%) Guns And Flowers |
6.5/1(-44%) | (1) Guns And Flowers 6.5/1, Opened account at Chelmsford City in June. Has made the frame in nurseries all 3 starts since, in first-time cheekpieces when fourth of 7 at Epsom (7f, good to firm, 10/3) 28 days ago. Can give another good account. Prominent racer; three sound efforts in nurseries and she should give it another good go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (10/1 +17%) Dufresne |
10/1(+17%) | (8) Dufresne 10/1, Encouragement on first 2 starts but raced freely/hung left when sixth of 7 in maiden (50/1) at Epsom (7f, good) 18 days ago. Needs to get back on the up as he makes handicap debut. Modest form in three runs at up to 7f; can do better in nurseries but he needs to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (16/1 -14%) Sub Thirteen |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Sub Thirteen 16/1, Signs of ability in his 3 starts so far, ridden handily before fading final 1f when sixth of 13 in minor event at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 80/1) 20 days ago. Could fare better now handicapping. Improved efforts the last twice and return to 7f a plus; not obviously well treated though. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Much depends on how Mitwaa breaks from the stalls, but he has the ability to go well at this level and is respected accordingly. However, he has been raised 3lb after being run out of things near the finish at Newbury last time and is taken on with SHE WORE NO JEWELS, who was just a half-length away in third that day. On marginally better terms, Clive Cox's filly can reverse the form. Nursery debutants Dufresne and Sub Thirteen are also considered.
SHE WORE NO JEWELS showed improved form when third at Newbury on her nursery debut last time, travelling as well as any, so she looks ready to open her account this time around. She can build on that effort to reverse the placings with Mitwaa from when the pair met 17 days ago, with Guns And Flowers the pick of the remainder.
The Newbury nursery in which MITWAA (second) finished just in front of She Wore No Jewels (third) looks the formline to focus on.

1st (7) (4/1 +11%) Lahina Bay |
4/1(+11%) | (7) Lahina Bay 4/1, C&D winner in June and followed up at Windsor 13 days later. Bit below form third of 9 in handicap (17/2) at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 33 days ago. Likely to be in the shake-up. C&D winner in June; solid 3rd behind well-handicapped winner latest; others better treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (6.5/1 +35%) Muy Muy Guapo |
6.5/1(+35%) | (6) Muy Muy Guapo 6.5/1, Modest form. Ran poorly when seventh of 8 in handicap at Epsom (7f, good to firm) 57 days ago. Others are more persuasive. 10-race maiden with patchy record but he ran well over C&D in June; gelded since last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +11%) Done Decision |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Done Decision 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 8 in maiden at Bath (5.7f, good, 5/1) 15 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Interesting runner. Finished off his race well when 2nd at Bath last time but the winner holds the form down. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3.33/1 -90%) Warminster |
3.33/1(-90%) | (1) Warminster 3.33/1, First run since leaving John Ryan when good second of 6 in handicap (18/1) at Yarmouth (6f, good) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Shortlist material. Back to form when 2nd on last month's stable debut; 2lb higher but still makes some appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (12/1 -85%) Baulac |
12/1(-85%) | (2) Baulac 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in novice at Windsor (5f, good) 32 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Improvement needed. Down the field in 3 novice runs but clear promise the last twice; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (4.5/1 +40%) Katar |
4.5/1(+40%) | (5) Katar 4.5/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Bit below form fourth of 8 in handicap (11/2) at Bath (5f, firm) 9 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Exposed maiden; threatening this summer until below par last week; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (40/1 +20%) Fragrance |
40/1(+20%) | (10) Fragrance 40/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Last of 12 in handicap at Chepstow (6f, good, 80/1) 18 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Badly out of sorts for this yard of late and addition of cheekpieces isn't enough to tempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (16/1 +43%) Minack |
16/1(+43%) | (9) Minack 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 9 in novice at Ripon (6f, good to soft) 55 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Likely improver now handicapping at a low level; yard have done well with the family. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (18/1 +55%) Queen Of Thrones |
18/1(+55%) | (8) Queen Of Thrones 18/1, 33/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Bath (5f, good to firm) 23 days ago. First-time blinkers need to have a positive effect. Yet to fire in sprint handicaps this season; blinkers now turned to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (66/1 +0%) Close Of Play |
66/1(+0%) | (3) Close Of Play 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 9 in maiden at Wolverhampton (5f, 150/1). Off 126 days. Makes handicap debut. Best watched unless the betting hints otherwise. Hasn't built on the promise of one 2yo outing this year; may do so now handicapping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Lahina Bay, Warminster and Fragrance are the only ones with any previous winning form and each commands respect. However, KATAR appeals as one who is potentially well handicapped and, with a tongue-tie and cheekpieces combination tried for the first time, Richard Ford's experienced three-year-old can provide a bit of value off a 3lb lower mark than when he was a close second to Lahina Bay (now 7lb worse off) over C&D in June.
WARMINSTER made a positive start for the Robert Cowell yard when narrowly denied at Yarmouth last month and might be capable of going one better under James Doyle. Lahina Bay won on her previous visit here and rates an obvious danger, while Done Decision brings unexposed potential to this handicap debut.
Warminster is solid enough but handicap newcomers Done Decision, Minack and BAULAC all make appeal in opposition.

1st (3) (2.5/1 +9%) On Edge |
2.5/1(+9%) | (3) On Edge 2.5/1, Two wins from 5 runs this year. 7/2, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Obvious claims under a penalty with this step back up in trip no problem. Two Chepstow wins this summer, more recently finishing strongly over 5f; can do better yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (16/1 -33%) Iconic Knight |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Iconic Knight 16/1, 17/2, creditable third of 7 in handicap at this course (8f, soft) 14 days ago. Down in trip and while he's edged down to an attractive mark, one or two of these make more appeal for win purposes. Best effort for new yard when 3rd over 1m here two weeks ago; 3lb lower; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +33%) Corinthia Knight |
3/1(+33%) | (1) Corinthia Knight 3/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Good second of 12 in handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good, 9/1) 18 days ago. Remains on a good mark back up 3 lb and should make his presence felt. Back to form when 2nd dropped to a Class 6 latest (front 2 clear); major player once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 -69%) Fact Or Fable |
11/1(-69%) | (2) Fact Or Fable 11/1, Five wins from 20 runs this year, the latest at Chepstow in August. Good second of 12 in handicap at the same course (7.1f, good, 8/1) 18 days ago. Clearly in good form but probably a shade too high in the weights for now. Five wins already this year and should go well again despite another hike up the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (10/1 -18%) Moorgate |
10/1(-18%) | (8) Moorgate 10/1, 33/1, creditable fourth of 13 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Record stands at 0-12 but he's certainly not without hope. Improved for a drop in trip the last twice and could have more to offer as a sprinter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (5/1 +41%) Salta Resta |
5/1(+41%) | (7) Salta Resta 5/1, Temperamental sort. 10/1, didn't need to improve to win 15-runner handicap at Chepstow (6.1f, good to firm) 22 days ago. More on his plate here following a 4 lb rise. Beat 14 rivals when winning at Chepstow 3 weeks ago; 4lb rise fair but she can pull hard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (14/1 +65%) Gunmetal |
14/1(+65%) | (6) Gunmetal 14/1, C&D winner. Fourteenth of 15 in handicap (80/1) at Newmarket (6f, good) 27 days ago. Needs to bounce back in a major way. Has been smart but doesn't look to retain much of that ability; far too much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (5.5/1 -38%) Gatwick Kitten |
5.5/1(-38%) | (4) Gatwick Kitten 5.5/1, Three wins from 7 runs this year. 11/2, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 28 days ago, faring best of those held up. One to consider with James Doyle booked. Three 6f wins on good or quicker this summer; not at best on AW latest; high in weights?. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This can go the way of CORINTHIA KNIGHT, who bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort at Chepstow last time out and should be well suited by the prevailing fast ground. The veteran has dropped 14lb below his last winning mark and he may have too much for the in-form Fact Or Fable and On Edge, who did it well over the minimum trip at Chepstow last week.
ON EDGE looked better than ever when coming from well off the pace to land a 5f Chepstow handicap last week and is taken to follow up under a penalty here. He may have most to fear from Gatwick Kitten, who shouldn't be judged too harshly on his latest effort, prior to which he was in good form. Corinthia Knight and Moorgate both make each-way appeal.
Fact Or Fable should give it another good go but CORINTHIA KNIGHT (nap) can confirm the promise of his latest Chepstow second.

1st (4) (0.91/1 -47%) Trawlerman |
0.91/1(-47%) | (4) Trawlerman 0.91/1, Smart gelding who took his form up a notch when landing last year's Ebor prior to an excellent third in Group 2 Long Distance Cup on Champions Day on final start. Absent since finishing well held in Dubai Gold Cup back in March but this looks a good opportunity to bounce back. Won the Ebor last year and has strong claims if he can get back near best after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/1 -33%) Sleeping Lion |
10/1(-33%) | (3) Sleeping Lion 10/1, Very capable performer when on-song and he again ran with credit granted the run of the race when fourth in 6-runner Sandown listed contest (16.2f) back in July. Can give another good account back from a short break. Finished behind Ocean Wind at Sandown latest and has some work to do at the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4.5/1 +25%) Ocean Wind |
4.5/1(+25%) | (2) Ocean Wind 4.5/1, Placed in Group 3 company in spring 2021. Shaped as if retaining plenty of ability when third in 2m Sandown listed race on return in July but well held both starts since, labouring some way out in last month's Ebor at York. Goes back up in trip now but needs to leave that well behind. Placed in a 2m Listed event on his comeback in July but he's struggled in both runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2.5/1 +50%) Berkshire Rocco |
2.5/1(+50%) | (1) Berkshire Rocco 2.5/1, Added to his tally at Southwell (16.4f) in January and plenty of solid efforts in defeat subsequently, not least when fifth in a first-time visor (retained here) in last month's Ebor at York. Fact he arrives in good order is a plus and all 3 career victories have come in small fields. This looks tough on these terms but he's in decent form and could run a big race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A small but select field, and last year's Ebor winner TRAWLERMAN surely sets the standard on both his rating and form. The Gosdens' five-year-old has not been in action domestically since a cracking third behind Trueshan and Coltrane on British Champions Day last October, but he could be a class apart. Ocean Wind made a pleasing return from the sidelines but has since struggled in the Goodwood Cup and Ebor. Berkshire Rocco was well ahead of him on the Knavesmire and should be in the mix if building on that.
TRAWLERMAN has been absent since finishing down the field in the Duba Gold Cup back in the spring, but his exploits last year give him obvious claims in this field and he should prove tough to beat on return. Berkshire Rocco, who arrives on the back of a sound fifth in last month's Ebor, could emerge as the chief threat despite conceding weight all round.
The Gosdens' TRAWLERMAN was a progressive stayer last season and has strong claims if he can get back near his best after a break.

2.75/1(+39%) | (3) Al Anoud 2.75/1, 9/4, showed a good attitude when winning 11-runner maiden at Chelmsford City (10f) on debut 22 days ago. Likely to improve. 9-4 winner at Chelmsford on recent debut but this is much tougher under a penalty. |

2nd (8) (0.73/1 -28%) Scenic |
0.73/1(-28%) | (8) Scenic 0.73/1, Useful filly. 7/1, 5¼ lengths seventh of 11 to Sea Theme in listed race at York (11.8f, good to firm) 22 days ago, unlucky not to finish closer. Has plenty of solid form and has an excellent opportunity to get off the mark. Has ran well in Listed events this season and she should be hard to beat back in a novice. |

3rd (5) (5.5/1 +54%) Lord Melbourne |
5.5/1(+54%) | (5) Lord Melbourne 5.5/1, €270,000 yearling, Wootton Bassett gelding. Dam, French 1¼m-1½m winner, half-sister to useful 1m winner (stayed 1¼m) Lamu. Potentially above-average newcomer. 270,000euros yearling; has high standard to aim at on debut but he's one to keep an eye on. |

4th (7) (5/1 +23%) Eleanor Cross |
5/1(+23%) | (7) Eleanor Cross 5/1, Promising individual. Second of 9 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good, 22/1) on debut. Off 11 months. Open to progress despite the lengthy absence. Runner-up in sole 2yo start and is open to progress upped in trip on comeback; respected. |

5th (1) (80/1 -142%) Salt Treaty |
80/1(-142%) | (1) Salt Treaty 80/1, Once-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 9/1) on debut. Off 6 months. Unlikely to be involved. Never involved when sixth of eight at Wolverhampton in February; best watched on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (100/1 -25%) Basilette |
100/1(-25%) | (4) Basilette 100/1, Once-raced maiden on Flat. Modest winner at 16f in bumpers. Hooded for 1st time, fifth of 7 in minor event at Chepstow (10f, good to firm, 66/1) on flat debut 11 days ago, slowly away. Doesn't make much appeal. Won a bumper on debut but couldn't make an impact when switched to the Flat 11 days ago. |

7th (6) (40/1 -60%) Sir Terence Hadley |
40/1(-60%) | (6) Sir Terence Hadley 40/1, Mukhadram gelding. Half-brother to 11f/1½m winner Kirkland Forever. Dam 1½m-17f winner. Worth a market check. This looks a tough starting point and he could be one for later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (150/1 -50%) Underlay |
150/1(-50%) | (2) Underlay 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in minor event (150/1) at Goodwood (9.9f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Up against it. 6yo who has struggled at big prices in his two recent runs; can only be watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SCENIC may be a maiden after seven attempts, but the form of her Listed third at York on her penultimate start stands out in this winnable contest. The booking of James Doyle can only aid her cause and her experience and recent match practice should help her to see off Eleanor Cross, who is bound to improve for an encouraging introduction at Nottingham which, admittedly, came a year ago. Debut Chelmsford winner Al Anoud can also have a say in proceedings.
SCENIC already has some black type and connections have now found a good opportunity for her to put a win to her name provided she's on her game. Eleanor Cross shaped well on debut, but that was almost a year ago, so it might be that debut-winner Al Anoud emerges as the main danger to the selection.
Ed Walker's SCENIC has some useful form in Listed events this season and should be hard to beat back in a novice.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
