13:40 Roscommon Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Runner-up six times in his last seven starts, IN THE TRENCHES is given another chance to get off the mark. He had Empire Succes eight lengths back in fifth when doing little wrong in first-time cheekpieces at Wexford last time and the filly who beat him has scored on the Flat since. Saint Le Fort showed promise in a winter maiden at Punchestown before being placed in a bumper when last seen in March. Lord Raven, from a predominantly jumping yard, has shown plenty of ability on the Flat and is one to consider on his hurdling debut. Native Sparkle, whose dam was a dual bumper winner for her trainer Barry Connell, is a newcomer to note.

This represents a good opportunity for SAINT LE FORT, who confirmed the promise of his Punchestown hurdles debut when third in a listed bumper at Limerick during the spring. He is likely to improve now returned to this sphere and can consign In The Trenches to another defeat. The latter is not short of ability but patience is starting to wear thin given that he was turned over at odds of 6/4 or less for the fourth time at Wexford last month. Newcomer Native Sparkle is one to note in the betting.

A chance is taken on EMPIRE SUCCESS. He was behind \bIn The Trenches\ on latest but will strip fitter now and may turn that around.

14:50 Roscommon Maiden Hurdle 20f  Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

FIELD A THISTLES has run well against geldings on her last two starts at Galway and Ballinrobe and looks a leading contender back in mares-only company. Mags Mullins' ground-versatile charge landed a bumper over this trip in July and has a nice bit of hurdling experience after four starts over flights. The 5lb claim of Conor Stone-Walsh is another point in her favour. Grooveykindoflove represents a top yard and showed plenty of promise last term. She went close at Wexford when last seen and a five-month absence is not a major concern. Downpatrick bumper winner Blacksmiths Forge made a pleasing start over hurdles at Sligo and stepping up in trip should help her cause.

Provided she is fully tuned-up following a break, GROOVEYKINDOFLOVE may well go one better than when second to Kiltealy Park (winner again since) on her latest start at Wexford in April. She remains open to improvement, a remark which also applies to several of her rivals, not least Mexican Moonshine, who was beaten by an experienced rival on her recent introduction at Ballinrobe. Lady Nightingale is third choice ahead of Blacksmiths Forge, Diamonds Diva and Field A Thistles.

Preference is for FIELD A THISTLES. The drop back in trip will suit and her Galway fourth looks solid form in the context of this race.

15:25 Roscommon Handicap Hurdle 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Former bumper winner LISPENDENSE can gain a belated first success over hurdles. The Denis Cullen-trained gelding missed a year and a half through injury before returning for a Flat campaign last April. Having shown he retained ability, the nine-year-old was subsequently sent hurdling, finished a close-up second on his handicap debut at Cork last month. A reproduction of that effort would almost certainly suffice in this company. Warmer Days Ahead has been gradually getting closer in recent starts. The Oliver McKiernan-trained five-year-old shouldn't be too long in getting his head in front. Sligo runner-up Glenmorefiftyfour also enters calculations on the back of that encouraging recent effort.

Despite his advancing years, LISPENDENSE is lightly-raced in this sphere and is appealing on the back of an improved second on his handicap debut in this sphere at Cork. This step back up in trip will be no bad thing and he gets the nod ahead of Warmer Days Ahead, who has also raised his game since going down the handicap route. Johnny Cakes is also shortlisted.

A chance is taken on IVANE who was a fine second over 3m earlier in the season and gets back on soft ground over his ideal trip.

16:00 Roscommon Handicap Hurdle 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MAX TIME, who landed a gamble when winning at Galway earlier this month, can register a second career success. The runner-up franked that form when running a big race in a similar grade at Listowel subsequently. Although the Iggy Madden-trained gelding was only fifth in his follow up attempt at Tramore last time, he should be more at home on this galloping track. In a race where few appear to have any sort of worthwhile recent form, the seven-year-old stands out. Kilbeggan second Rossies Tara has shown promise on occasions but has yet to get her head in front in 20 starts. The Mark McNiff-trained mare will get few easier opportunities than this one. Stowaway Lass, who is lightly raced at the age of 10, is an unexposed mare who should be noted.

The vote goes to MAX TIME, who raised his game when belatedly getting off the mark in a big-field Galway handicap earlier this month. He was a respectable fifth off this 7 lb higher mark at Tramore next time. Rossies Tara looks dangerous on the back of a solid effort at Kilbeggan, while Vintage Gold makes some each-way appeal on the back of his decent display at Killarney last time. But What About Me would also have a chance if at her best.

Now back on soft ground folowing two solid efforts on a faster surface, VINTAGE GOLD is a tentative pick in a weak affair.

16:35 Roscommon Handicap Hurdle 24f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A winner over fences at Wexford last time, OUTSIDE THE DOOR should be able to exploit a more favourable rating over hurdles. Raised to a mark of 123 on the back of that recent success, the Milan gelding can race off just 107 in this discipline. Given that he had finished a close-up third over flights at Sligo on his penultimate start, the eight-year-old looks well treated here. Hypersonic Missile, who had valid excuses when a beaten favourite over course and distance in August, made amends at Ballinrobe last time. A consistent sort of late, the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding holds leading claims. Vaureal, a surprise winner of his maiden hurdle at this track last time, has to be of interest on handicap debut.

VAUREAL stepped up on his debut when comfortably landing a novice here 55 days ago and, with the longer trip likely to suit, he's worth a chance to make a successful switch to handicaps. Last-time-out winners Shuil Na Tra and Hypersonic Missile also come into the reckoning.

A winner over a bit further on soft ground at Sligo, SHUIL NA TRA faces stronger opposition here but may be able to progress again

17:10 Roscommon Maiden Chase 17f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The Willie Mullins-trained ARCTIC FLY can make it two wins from two starts over fences. A smart hurdler at her best, the six-year-old made a winning chase debut when just doing enough at Killarney last month. Although improvement will be required stepping up to Graded company here, the daughter of Walk In The Park could well be up to the task. Bowmore was very impressive on his first start over fences at Tipperary in July but disappointed at Killarney subsequently. If able to reproduce that initial effort, the Henry De Bromhead-trained gelding would be a serious contender. Thecompanysergeant, who finished behind Bowmore at Tipperary, has plenty of experience over fences so should be able to make his presence felt.

THECOMPANYSERGEANT showed a good attitude when scoring at Galway and can strike again. Killarney winner Arctic Fly is the obvious danger for Willie Mullins. Jesse Evans has more to offer in this sphere but finished well held in Sunday's Irish Cesarewitch.

An open Grade 3 and BOWMORE is a hopeful selection. He'll need to jump better than at Killarney but was good in that department on debut

The lightly-raced KUDASHEVA can follow up her recent win at Wexford. Having just her second start over fences, the Henry De Bromhead-trained mare easily beat a solid yardstick by 11 lengths. A former point-to-point winner with proven stamina, the daughter of Pour Moi should relish stepping back up in trip against her own sex. Paidi's Passion, who made a winning stable debut at this track in June, has shaped with promise on a couple of occasions since. The Paul Flynn-trained eight-year-old should appreciate this slightly easier assignment. Bella Bliss has been running well enough of late to suggest that she can shortly add to her five previous career wins.

KUDASHEVA looks to have been handed a lenient mark based on her win at Wexford last time and she's clearly the one to beat for all that Bella Bliss and Blenheim Belle represent formidable opponents.

Easy Wexford winner Kudasheva could be well treated but MENINDEE is only 3lb higher than when taking this last year and is preferred
