17:20 Roscommon Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ROYALCORRESPONDENT should be good enough to win here on just his second start for Ray Cody. The Blue Point gelding had some fair maiden form on turf for Ger Lyons last season but disappointed when sent off favourite on the Polytrack at Dundalk in April. Having shaped much better on his return to grass at Gowran Park earlier this month, he gets the vote. Dynamite Defense was entitled to run somewhat green when runner-up on his racecourse debut at Gowran Park recently. The Denis Hogan-trained gelding should be all the better for that initial run so has to be a serious contender. She's Smart was back in sixth in that aforementioned race but has a chance of overturning that form at these weights.

ROYALCORRESPONDENT was fourth in a deeper-looking contest than this starting out for a new yard at Gowran 12 days ago and he makes as much appeal as any of these. Alto Sax, a former stablemate of the selection, and Zenato are a couple of possible threats.

Typically mixed bag for a claimer, perhaps DYNAMITE DEFENSE can improve enough from a good debut second to score

17:50 Roscommon Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The well-bred EDERGOLE'S ANGEL catches the eye on her racecourse debut. A half-sister to two black-type horses, she has the pedigree at the very least. While drawn out in stall 12 is an obvious concern given her inexperience, Billy Lee might be able to tuck her in if breaking on terms. The Joseph O'Brien-trained newcomer Green Triangle has to be considered despite being a first foal out of an ordinary mare. Given his connections, the son of Gleneagles has to be showing plenty at home. Deo Vero, who ran better than the bare form suggests when ninth on her Curragh debut, should be involved. Nothing went right for the filly when finding endless trouble on her initial outing.

Those with experience haven't achieved a great deal so it may pay to focus on newcomers, with the vote going to GREEN TRIANGLE for Joseph O'Brien. Georg Zhukov, whose trainer and jockey won this last year, and Edergole's Angel are others with something to recommend them on paper.

GREEN TRIANGLE was the most expensive of these as a yearling and so has to give weight away but could be up to it.

18:20 Roscommon Handicap 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

CALAMINT was an impressive winner at Naas on his stable debut three weeks ago and, should Adrian Murray be able to eke out further improvement from the filly, a hefty 12lb hike in the handicap might not stop her. Vikki Wall (winner) had Super Cub (third) in behind over C&D last Monday but the latter could get closer on the revised terms. Barnhill Rose pulled clear with an improver over this track and trip last time out, so a subsequent 5lb rise in the handicap could underestimate the daughter of Mayson.

The vote goes to SNEDDY EDDIE, who caught the eye when finishing well after encountering traffic problems at Sligo recently and this step back up in trip looks a good move. Calamint improved form out of the blue on debut for this yard at Naas where she landed a big-field handicap in good style. The handicapper took a dim view of that and raised her a whopping 12 lb but she is feared nonetheless. Cherry Pink is third choice, while Barnhill Rose is also shortlisted.

Last Monday's winner Vikki Wall is feared but slight preference is for BARNHILL ROSE who has a good record at the the track

18:50 Roscommon Maiden 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The three contenders here already in possession of an official rating are closely matched, and perhaps KISIYRA (assessed as a 79-rated performer) might top the lot. The hope would be that Johnny Murtagh's runner can put the benefit of the experience she gained in handicap company at Leopardstown last time to good use. Allied to that the daughter of Sea The Moon will likely come on to some degree for that first start since last October. One would have thought that Jessica Harrington's debutant, Another Night, may progress for the run, given that stable jockey Shane Foley is aboard It'sonlyjustbegun. Some of her owners are also involved in the first-time blinkered Double Agent. Total Look and Slaney Swagger merit a mention too.

KISIYRA has the best form and has found a good opportunity back in maiden company, so she's preferred to Slaney Swagger, with Double Agent also well worth considering tried in blinkers after a mildly encouraging debut.

On the back of a promising seasonal return KISIYRA (nap) can get off the mark on ground she handles

19:20 Roscommon Handicap 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Some will doubtless look in the direction of Al Mudhaffar, as the only last time scorer in the field. The sole three-year-old may have enough to contend with though, on his debut on the turf. He goes up in trip on his handicap bow, and the addition of cheekpieces might also aid his cause. As always with an unexposed sort such Al Mudhaffar, market movements promise to be informative. The Joseph O'Brien runner isn't the only one that needs close monitoring in the betting, with the returning Spy having the potential to get involved. Ultimately one of the safer options appears to be Harry Rogers' in-form mare CLEOPATRA'S NEEDLE. She's being kept busy but looks the type to thrive at this time of year and there could well be more to come now that the six-year-old has started to realise her potential.

Sole 3-y-o AL MUDHAFFAR surely has more to offer for his leading stable after only 2 starts and can prove too strong for his older rivals. Cleopatra's Needle has returned at the top of her game and will be a threat if this doesn't come too soon after Leopardstown on Friday. Paul Flynn's Emeric completes the shortlist.

It looks as if MAGIC CHARM needs a step up in trip, judged on his two solid runs this term over a mile and he can score

19:50 Roscommon Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

This is a competitive heat and a strong case can be made for many but NARLITA will enjoy the ease in the ground and may come forward enough from her comeback sixth in a deep race at Sligo to land the prize. Progressive over this trip in the autumn, the five-year-old may be able to resume progress with a run under her belt and Harry Rogers now fits her with a tongue-tie in addition to the usual hood. There was only a length between the first three home in a C&D contest a week ago and the unexposed Sixpack, second on that occasion, may fare best in his renewal of rivalry with Jabbar and Duke Of Leggagh. Gowran winner Joanna Whitty looks fairly treated for her handicap debut and is another to consider.

SIXPACK was narrowly defeated by Jabbar here last week but, on better terms, he's worth a chance to turn the tables in a race that the pair may dominate. Duke of Leggagh was back in third that day and should be on the premises again.

After a gritty win in a Gowran maiden over this trip last time, JOHANNA WHITTY doesn't look harshly treated and can win again.

20:20 Roscommon Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Paul Flynn is a force to be reckoned with in handicaps and the Longford handler can strike here with SOLAR DRIVE. Bred by the Niarchos family, the Mastercraftsman gelding is one of seven individual handicap winners saddled by Flynn this season having scored over this trip at Cork last month. Unable to reel in Dont Do Dramas over shorter at Sligo last time, Colin Keane's mount is now 8lb better off with that rival and can turn the tables back at 1m4f. Granite Bay is up 4lb for his handicap debut win at Cork and steps up in trip by a couple of furlongs. Connections were concerned about quick ground at Cork and he may improve for getting his toe in here.

GRANITE BAY improved for the step up to 10.2f when making a winning handicap debut at Cork recently and, with a 4 lb rise and further progress possible now upped in trip, he is taken to follow-up. Solar Drive was beaten 2½ lengths by Dont Do Dramas at Sligo but there's good reason to believe he can reverse those placings on revised terms here. Latin is also shortlisted.

Up 4lb for his Cork win GRANITE BAY could improve again for this longer trip and easier ground

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
