1st (1) ![]() Romieu |
9/2(-140%) | (1) Romieu 9/2, 18,000gns Lope De Vega gelding; dam high-class at 12f; tongue-tie first time; market may provide best guide to chances Promising in 2 runs on testing ground in France; tongue tied for yard debut; check market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Obito |
18/5(+52%) | (3) Obito 18/5, Keen and faded when well beaten in a maiden over 7f at Newcastle only start; up in trip; should improve 150,000gns breeze-up 2yo; promising 5th at Newcastle last month; 1m should suit; hood off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Jenubiyah |
6/4(+33%) | (5) Jenubiyah 6/4, Fair effort on belated 2yo debut when third beaten 4 1/2l in a novice over 7f at Kempton; returning from a bit of a break and up in trip, but the obvious choice in a weak looking race Green on Kempton debut in December (7f) but showed some promise; 1m should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Earthwatch |
3/1(+0%) | (2) Earthwatch 3/1, 88,000gns Earthlight gelding; half-brother to Expeditious, useful at 6f as 2yo; top trainer, but presumably hasn't been sent from Newmarket for this modest event because he's a future star 88,000gns half-brother to a 6f AW winner out of a 1m1f winner in France; newcomer of note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Fallons First |
33/1(+0%) | (4) Fallons First 33/1, Green and faded when well beaten in a novice over 7f at Doncaster on debut last month; up in trip; should do better, but lot to find based on that running 80-1, green and well beaten on her Doncaster debut three weeks ago (7f, good). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having supplemented his debut victory in France with a respectable second at Chantilly, stable/seasonal debutant ROMIEU sets a strong standard for the others to aim at. The four-year-old is likely to take all the beating if handling the forecast quicker ground and a second career victory may await. The biggest threat might emerge from Jenubiyah, who offered plenty of encouragement with her third at Kempton. Newcomer Earthwatch warrants a market check.
Romieu sets the standard but he has a big weight on new ground. Obito should improve but EARTHWATCH is a newcomer of note.

1st (6) ![]() Kranjcar |
11/2(-10%) | (6) Kranjcar 11/2, Ran to form upped in trip on return from wind op beaten 5l in a handicap over 8f at Yarmouth last time; generally in good form; effective 6f; unproven on fast ground, but chance Expensive to follow but return to sprinting may help; not ruled out in a weak race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Lady Of The Garr |
4/1(+27%) | (3) Lady Of The Garr 4/1, Well backed beaten about a length off 53 over 5f at Newcastle last time and in very solid form; top course jockey; up in trip (stays); off a short-break, but equally as effective turf and ran well here last turf start in August Best form at 5f but effective over C&D and running quite well when last seen; e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Mrs Trump |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Mrs Trump 4/1, Did not get a clear run and probably needed race beaten 7l in a handicap over 5f at Pontefract reappearance; won over C&D on fast ground in August off this mark; could go well having had a run 2-2 at Redcar; shaped quite nicely at Pontefract on her return to action; down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Supernova Steps |
7/2(+42%) | (5) Supernova Steps 7/2, Probably needed the race beaten 3l off 52 at Wolverhampton last time after three months off; in solid form on AW before that; unproven on fast ground and turf form in general questionable Chance on her AW best and shaped OK after break last time; first realistic chance on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Ustath |
10/1(+0%) | (8) Ustath 10/1, Consistent at lowest level of late and about to form beaten 2l off 45 over 5f at Catterick last time; effective 6f and top jockey booked, but bit to find at the weights More prolific on AW but ran okay back on turf last time and Tom Marquand a good booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Little Muddy |
7/2(+42%) | (4) Little Muddy 7/2, Ran about to form on second start off an absence beaten 3 1/4l off 55 over 5f at Doncaster last time; gets 6f; mark has been falling and chance at best, but hasn't shown that yet this term Best run for some time when midfield at Doncaster last month; down in class; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Irish Dancer |
22/1(-120%) | (9) Irish Dancer 22/1, Well backed when fourth beaten 5l in a handicap at Southwell latest; running consistently and trainer in form, but off a short-break, unproven on fast ground and not that well handicapped 16-race maiden; ended 2024 in good form on AW but opposable back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Posh Maisie |
66/1(-65%) | (7) Posh Maisie 66/1, In moderate form and slowly away beaten 2 1/4l off 46 over 5f at Catterick last time; usually held up; up in trip; unproven on fast ground; seems regressive Exposed maiden; not beaten far latest (bled from the nose) but not sure to build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) ![]() Birdie Bowers |
28/1(+44%) | (10) Birdie Bowers 28/1, No worthwhile form for some time and beaten 5 1/4l in a classified race over 5f at Newcastle latest; cheekpieces first time; up in trip (stays); bit to prove Looks on the downgrade and the addition of cheekpieces isn't enough to tempt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Lady Of The Garr put a good string of efforts together on the all-weather during the winter and must enter calculations on the back of a 79-day break. However, this demands a career best and dual Redcar winner MRS TRUMP is more compelling. The five-year-old didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages on her reappearance at Pontefract and reverting to the C&D of her last triumph may see her capitalise. Garifullina and Ustath are also noted.
Having shaped nicely at Pontefract on her return MRS TRUMP is fancied to make it 3-3 at Redcar. Little Muddy is feared most.

1st (5) ![]() Tickets |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Tickets 4/1, Narrow winner of a handicap at Newcastle off 59 in January; bit below that since and turf form 7-10lb below AW ratings; unproven on fast ground; would be thrown in based on AW form In good form on AW this winter; 10lb lower on turf but with some justification. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Variety Island |
6/1(+33%) | (6) Variety Island 6/1, Beaten 3 1/4l off 48 at Newcastle last time roughly reflecting balance of form; returning from a short-break; mark looks fair and acts on fast ground; minor chance Capable at this level but may come on for this first run in 130 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Brian The Snail |
7/2(-5%) | (2) Brian The Snail 7/2, Slowly away as ever and beaten 1 1/4l off 56 over 5f at Nottingham last time; longer trip here is a plus and very well handicapped now, but races in his own time and always risky Better on AW but handicapped accordingly and plugged on for third at Nottingham latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Stroxx |
10/1(-186%) | (4) Stroxx 10/1, In good form on the AW and transferred that to turf landing a handicap by a head off 50 over 5f at Catterick last time; normally races over 5f and longer trip is a worry, but equally could suit; obvious chance Two 5f wins this year, digging deep at Catterick 12 days ago; more to prove at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() John Kirkup |
10/1(+50%) | (8) John Kirkup 10/1, Veteran of 111 races and steadily regressive these days, latest down the field in a handicap at Thirsk; visor first time needs to galvanise, but that seems unlikely Infrequent winner nowadays; well held back on turf nine days ago; new headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Miss Rainbow |
11/1(+56%) | (10) Miss Rainbow 11/1, Out of sorts since this time last year, latest beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap at Newcastle off this mark; unproven on fast ground; very hard to fancy until showing signs of a return to form Exposed maiden; ended 2024 quietly and others bring more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Dunnington Lad |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Dunnington Lad 20/1, Probably needed race beaten 5l in a handicap over 5f at Catterick on reappearance; won a Ripon handicap off 53 narrowly in August; back to that mark, goes on easy and fast ground, current for the worry Two 5f wins at Ripon last year; behind Stroxx on recent return; something to prove at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Fast Flo |
9/1(+36%) | (7) Fast Flo 9/1, Beaten 3l off 46 at Brighton last time, undone by downhill course; too free previous start; capable of better than current form, but hard to fancy despite lenient mark Chance if reproducing this year's best but she's an exposed 36-race maiden now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() Wiggins B |
5/1(-11%) | (1) Wiggins B 5/1, Showed a bit more last of three starts in novices/maiden beaten 8 1/2l at Doncaster in July; not run since, unproven on fast ground, plenty to prove even if opening mark seems very fair Makes his handicap debut at a low level and bred to do better at some point; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Hyrcanian |
100/1(-52%) | (9) Hyrcanian 100/1, In poor form since January 2024; unproven on fast ground; mark has fallen, but very hard to make a case for Poor form for current stable last year; best watched back from a 175-day break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
STROXX has been in fine fettle this month, with a close-up second at Musselburgh followed up by a dogged Catterick victory. This looks a suitable opportunity for Liam Bailey's sprinter to go in again and he makes plenty of appeal off just 2lb higher. Brian The Snail returned to form with a solid third at Nottingham and the evergreen 11-year-old is feared most, ahead of Variety Island.
Veteran Brian The Snail can go well at 6f but the unexposed WIGGINS B could take a step forward now handicapping at a low level.

1st (1) ![]() Media Mogul |
11/10(+0%) | (1) Media Mogul 11/10, Well backed when landing a handicap by 1/2l off 64 over 12f at Wolverhampton last time; hung under pressure there, but did look like would stay furtehr; trainer in form; up in trip and first run on turf, but the one to beat Turf debut; hung badly left when challenging for 1m4f win last time but he's progressing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Marbuzet |
6/1(-20%) | (4) Marbuzet 6/1, Form tailed off a bit on 2024, but won a Doncaster handicap over this trip off 66 by 3/4l and numerous other good efforts; top course trainer and back on winning mark, but may need the run Won at Doncaster (14.5f) last July off this mark; major question to answer first time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Gastronomy |
9/1(-125%) | (2) Gastronomy 9/1, Beaten just over 3l over C&D penultimate start in November off a mark of 69 and generally in good form prior to that; returning from a break; fitness concern, but goes well at the track and should contend C&D winner; reappears but has a competitive mark and he started last season well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Trojan Sun |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Trojan Sun 9/2, Probably needed race beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap over 2m at Musselburgh on seasonal debut; in good form at the end of 2024, but generally over further and may find this a bit too sharp on fast ground Might be open to improvement in this second campaign, but 1m6f may be shorter than ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Ribba Hill |
4/1(+43%) | (3) Ribba Hill 4/1, In consistent form on the AW though questionable whether this trip suited last time fading into fourth beaten 6l in a handicap at Southwell; unproven on fast ground; chance if handles it and gets home Taking fourth in his last two AW handicaps (1m4f/1m6f) this term wasn't that persuasive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MEDIA MOGUL appreciated the application of first-time cheekpieces when scoring by half a length over 1m4f at Wolverhampton and now makes only his fourth handicap start. With this step up in trip a possible source of further improvement, he can complete a double. Trojan Sun raced way too keenly to do himself justice when last of five at Musselburgh, but has Paul Mulrennan back on board and could bounce back. Gastronomy looks best of the rest.
Media Mogul has the clearest potential but also a bit to prove and GASTRONOMY looks a reasonable alternative.

3/1(+10%) | (2) Cruyff Turn 3/1, Ran to form beaten 2 1/2l off 84 over 8f here on reappearance; top course trainer; down in trip, but won over it at Thirsk in September; contender and well treated at weights if recapturing that Thirsk form Good run after a break here two weeks ago (1m); three C&D wins on his record; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Circe |
85/40(+23%) | (1) Circe 85/40, Looked held when short of room late beaten 2 1/2l off 86 at Doncaster on reappearance; that is roughly reflective of balance of form; significant jockey booking; competitive weight Promising return to action at Doncaster last month; dropped 1lb and should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Woodstock |
14/1(+36%) | (3) Woodstock 14/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap at Doncaster on return from a break; 3/4l Newbury winner off 82 in August, but below that all starts since and bit to prove Three 7f wins for this yard last year; sharper for last month's return; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Master Richard |
4/1(+47%) | (6) Master Richard 4/1, In good form on AW until disappointed in tongue-tie first-time latest; has had a wind operation since and returning from a break; not out of it if breathing issue has been fixed Down in the weights and had a wind op since last seen; others still look safer though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() The Green Man |
40/1(-43%) | (7) The Green Man 40/1, Smart handicapper in 2023, but has regressed badly ever since and has now had a wind operation; needs to show retained ability before can be considered On a lowly mark but hopes appear to rest on a wind op/return to 7f sparking a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Al Muqdad |
10/3(+0%) | (4) Al Muqdad 10/3, Consistent prior to improving in first-time cheekpieces when beaten 1/2l off 81 at Ayr final start of 2024; looks well handicapped on thart run, but off a break and head gear has been removed Made good progress in 7f handicaps last year; may improve again this year; no headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Livio Milo |
40/1(-264%) | (9) Livio Milo 40/1, Probably needed the run well beaten in a handicap over 8f at Pontefract on reappearance; form tailed off in Ireland last term; trainer in form, but hard to like until shows some sparkle Well backed on recent stable debut but struggled in a race not run to suit; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Lerwick |
33/1(-230%) | (5) Lerwick 33/1, Had been in good form on AW, but below par last twice; won on fast ground at Beverley in August, but best form may now be over 8f+ Competitive off this sort of mark on AW; needs to step up on last month's stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Project Black |
33/1(+0%) | (8) Project Black 33/1, Has not run since 2023 and last worthwhile form as a 2yo in 2022; can't be considered until showing still has some ability Promising 2yo; absent since two poor runs in spring 2023; gelded; risky after layoff. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CRUYFF TURN only weakened late on to finish a respectable fourth in a stronger event over a mile at this venue and the handicapper may have been kind to leave his mark alone. The eight-year-old ran out a two-length victor when last seen in this grade at Thirsk in September and he looks the way to go. Al Muqdad hit the crossbar at Ayr to sign off his 2024 campaign and has cheekpieces removed for his return to action. Circe is also noted.
He may be the old man of the party but CRUYFF TURN (nap) shaped well on his reappearance and can register a fourth C&D success.

1st (3) ![]() Cadarn |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Cadarn 11/2, Weak in the market fourth beaten 8 1/4l in a novice over 10f at Newcastle final start of 2024, but had shown promise in similar races prior to that; trainer in form; returning from a break; unexposed Drops in trip for h'cap debut; beaten fav last twice; interesting to see if backers return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Rhythm Master |
5/2(+17%) | (1) Rhythm Master 5/2, Travelled well and arguably unlucky being short of room as winner got first run and beaten 1 1/4l off 84 over 7f at Thirsk last time, would have gone close; up in trip, but gets a mile and may make amends Back to form (well backed) when 2nd at Thirsk recently; 3lb higher but still a key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() Yaaser |
40/1(-82%) | (8) Yaaser 40/1, Won at Ayr by 3/4l off 68 in September and backed that up same course penultimate start; mile suits; needed race first run back in 2024 No history of going well fresh and looks best watched on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Grabajabba |
17/2(-143%) | (5) Grabajabba 17/2, Back to form dropped to 7f when beaten 3/4l off 76 at Doncaster last time; this first run on fast ground though sound surface seems to suit and step back up to a mile a concern Two AW wins in December (7f) and ran well over that trip at Doncaster last month; 1m the ?. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Barley |
5/2(+62%) | (4) Barley 5/2, Raced freely beaten 5l in a handicap here on seasonal debut; best judged on 1 1/2l defeat at York off 81 in October; top course trainer; needs to recapture that form second start back to figure On a dangerous mark and shaped as though in need of the run here two weeks ago; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Reidh |
16/1(+11%) | (7) Reidh 16/1, Raced freely down the field in a handicap here on reappearance probably needing the run; lost form end of last season after two wins in midsummer, latter narrowly off 78; needs to show some form to enter calculations Two 7f wins last summer; dangerous mark but it was a low-key return here two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Boy Douglas |
4/1(+27%) | (6) Boy Douglas 4/1, Inconsistent, but looks quite well handicapped on a number of efforts last term; effective going and distance, but off a break and may need the race Ended 2024 quietly but returns on a good mark as a consequence; one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Crimson Road |
33/1(-32%) | (2) Crimson Road 33/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap over 10f at Doncaster on reappearance; nicely weighted based on a length Newbury win off 80 in August; chance if has come on for seasonal debut Two 1m2f wins for the Crisfords in 2024; well-beaten 40-1 shot on stable debut; down to 1m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
GRABAJABBA outran odds of 28/1 to finish a close third over 7f at Doncaster's Lincoln meeting and is just 2lb higher. Mick Appleby's colt makes only his fourth handicap start and could have more to offer. Rhythm Master was closing all the way to the line after striking trouble in running at Thirsk and should go well, while Cadarn has Danny Tudhope booked for his handicap debut and has to be respected.
Barley shaped well on his recent return to action and can go well but BOY DOUGLAS resumes his career on a dangerous mark.

28/1(-155%) | (4) Homeland 28/1, Best of three efforts final start of 2024 when possibly suited by step-up to a mile; top course jockey; unproven on fast ground; still has a good bit to find Probably yet to show his hand, so needs a check on this seasonal/handicap debut. |

22/1(-22%) | (12) Mission In Malton 22/1, Did not get a clear run fourth beaten 5l in a handicap at Southwell on reappearance, but no worthwhile form yet and hard to fancy 6-1 when he reappeared for fourth of ten to I Can Boogy at Southwell (1m) 13 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Groundhog |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Groundhog 4/1, Well backed, raced freely beaten 1 1/2l off 58 over C&D last time; unproven on fast ground, but ought to go close if repeats that form Still headstrong but made most and hung on well for a close C&D third to Flamborough Head. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Ottoman |
6/1(+20%) | (7) Ottoman 6/1, Probably needed the race beaten 3l off 57 over C&D on reappearance; looks quite well handicapped on Irish form, but has that to prove as a 3yo in Britain Best Irish form gives him a shot; echo of that when fourth to Flamborough Head over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) ![]() Magic Topissima |
40/1(-122%) | (11) Magic Topissima 40/1, Best of three races in handicaps last time when raced freely fourth beaten 5l in a handicap over 10f here; not proven at a mile or on fast ground One of her better efforts was here last time but not crying out for a drop back from 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) ![]() Hurricane Bea |
33/1(+0%) | (9) Hurricane Bea 33/1, Well beaten all starts and appeared not to stay down the field in a novice over 7f at Newcastle most recent run; everything to prove up in trip Nothing solid from his three qualifying races (6f/7f); useful pedigree is more for speed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) ![]() Treble Winners |
50/1(-52%) | (1) Treble Winners 50/1, Ground probably too testing well beaten in a nursery over 7f at Carlisle only run in a handicap; showed some promise 3rd in a maiden here in July; cheekpieces first time; ran poorly only time encountered fast ground 3rd here in a 7f maiden; well beaten on handicap debut (soft) last August; cheekpieces now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Flamborough Head has the potential to build on his recent C&D win and should go well given this doesn't appear to be any deeper. However, GROUNDHOG was only a length and a half away in third and, armed with a 5lb pull at the weights, the Barrons' low-mileage three-year-old can turn the form around, assuming he settles better this time. Southwell winner I Can Boogy has to enter the equation, with Ottoman and Mwafaq others for the shortlist.
Flamborough Head's finish won him a C&D race two weeks ago but he may find that I CAN BOOGY proves too strong.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
PERFIDIA went agonisingly close with a strong finish at Pontefract last week and was simply outdone by one who got first run. This straighter and less demanding course should play to his strengths and quick compensation could be gained by Tim Easterby's gelding. Martha Costello showed some improvement on her handicap debut and has been given a chance by the assessor off 1lb lower. Ziva's Star and Sanbona complete the shortlist.
Perfidia plugged on past SANBONA at Pontefract last week but the placings can be reversed on today's revised terms.
Ths is the racecard key.
