1st (4) (3/1 +0%) Stumptown |
3/1(+0%) | (4) Stumptown 3/1, Smart chaser. 1 win from 2 runs this season. Didn't need to improve to win 11-runner minor event chase at this course (24.4f, soft, 10/3) by 5½ lengths from Fameaftertheglory. Off 6 months. Took very well to banks here at the festival; winning over 3m; should go well. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (11/2 -10%) Vanillier |
11/2(-10%) | (12) Vanillier 11/2, Useful chaser. Course winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Pulled up in handicap chase (16/1) at Cheltenham (25f, good) 29 days ago, pulled up. Player on these terms if bouncing back. 2023 Grand National runner-up still interesting though on his banks debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (22/1 -38%) Fameaftertheglory |
22/1(-38%) | (7) Fameaftertheglory 22/1, Temperamental sort. One win from 28 NH runs. Twenty five runs since last win in 2021. Seventh of 9 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (29.2f, good to soft, 17/2) 9 days ago. Got tired late on at Cheltenham last weekend when losing a shoe; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

33/1(+18%) | (5) Bodhisattva 33/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 16/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Wexford (25.5f, soft) 123 days ago, tailed off when pulled up before 2 out. Unconvincing in one start over banks here in April; pulled up at Wexford last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (150/1 -50%) Western Comandor |
150/1(-50%) | (13) Western Comandor 150/1, One win from 21 NH runs. Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. First run since leaving Andrew McNamara when twelfth of 15 in handicap chase at Clonmel (20.8f, good to soft, 22/1) 17 days ago. Winning hurdler for John Ryan but quite some time since he has shown anything; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (10) (80/1 -142%) Streets Of Doyen |
80/1(-142%) | (10) Streets Of Doyen 80/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Pulled up in handicap chase at Cork (28f, good, 18/1) 21 days ago, dropping away after next. Has struggled for form this year, pulling up in the Cork Grand National last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (250/1 -25%) Land Jet |
250/1(-25%) | (9) Land Jet 250/1, Poor hurdler. Remains a maiden after 20 NH runs. Pulled up in handicap hurdle (50/1) at Galway (24f, good to soft) 29 days ago, pulled up 2 out. Switches from hurdles to chase. Easy to look elsewhere. Won over hurdles at Kilbeggan three years ago, but a mark of 80 reflects his ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4/1 +38%) Solitary Man |
4/1(+38%) | (2) Solitary Man 4/1, Smart chaser. Five wins from 16 NH runs. 7/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, broke blood vessel when pulled up in handicap chase at Listowel (23.8f, soft) 60 days ago. Disappointing in Kerry National; much respected from these quarters on his banks debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (250/1 +0%) Jet Fighter |
250/1(+0%) | (8) Jet Fighter 250/1, Poor chaser. Tailed-off eighth of 10 to Coko Beach in minor event chase at this course (24.6f, soft, 200/1). Off 9 months. Very modest performer; not seen since a mile behind Coko Beach here in February; no appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
C&D winner COKO BEACH should be difficult to beat back over his optimum distance. Successful here in February, the grey ran respectably in the Grand National before finishing third over 4m1f back here in the La Touche Cup in May. Still in contention when unseating four out in the Velka Pardubicka last time, he can regain the winning thread now. In receipt of 10lb from the selection, the Gavin Cromwell-trained Vanillier has to be a serious threat. A Listed winner over hurdles, Solitary Man is an interesting recruit to this discipline.
Little depth to this and a good opportunity for COKO BEACH to resume winning ways on these terms. Vanillier and Stumptown and others to consider.
The standard is set by COKO BEACH(nap), who would not have been far away in the Pardubicka and comes here in good heart

Won sole start in points (Mar 2024) and one to note. Won her sole point-to-point in the spring and could run a big race for an in-form combo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/10 +51%) Argento Boy |
11/10(+51%) | (1) Argento Boy 11/10, Winner in bumper at Fairyhouse in January. Sixth in Champion Bumper at Punchestown final start. Off 6 months. Makes hurdles debut. Significantly up in trip. 28/1(-56%) | (2) Did I Ask You That 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 12/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, tenth of 18 in bumper at this course (18f, good to soft). Off 19 months. Makes hurdles debut. Up in trip. Off for 19 months which is not really a drawback from this yard but still best watched. |

13/2(-95%) | (10) Springt De La Mare 13/2, Promising sort. Winner in bumper at Navan in November 2023. Would have been placed on hurdling debut but for departing at the last in novice hurdle (8/11) at this course (22.9f, soft). Off 10 months. Form pick. Probably better suited by the drop back in trip here on his return from 10 months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (28/1 +15%) Flemensface |
28/1(+15%) | (3) Flemensface 28/1, Won bumper at Cork on NH debut in April 2023. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/1 -22%) Masterboy Davis |
11/1(-22%) | (6) Masterboy Davis 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 12/1, eleventh of 19 in bumper at this course (18.8f, heavy). Off 6 months. Makes hurdles debut. Interesting recruit to hurdles but might have wished for an easier oportunity. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -60%) Jerisk Star |
40/1(-60%) | (5) Jerisk Star 40/1, Once-raced maiden. Second of 8 in bumper at Gowran (16f, heavy, 5/1) on NH debut, travelling best. Off 22 months. Makes hurdles debut. Significantly up in trip. Off nearly two years; best watched on his hurdles debut after such a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (250/1 -150%) Garde My Fortune |
250/1(-150%) | (4) Garde My Fortune 250/1, Once-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in novice hurdle at Limerick (16.3f, good to soft, 11/1) on NH debut 35 days ago. Significantly up in trip. No show on debut in a Limerick maiden hurdle last month; can be passed over. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Point-to-point winner SON OF ANARCHY looks an exciting recruit for leading owner J.P. McManus. Given that the Soldier Of Fortune gelding won easily by 15 lengths on that occasion, Gordon Elliott's charge appears to have immense potential. Fairyhouse bumper winner Argento Boy struggled at Cheltenham but ran much better when sixth in a Grade 1 here in May, and the Willie Mullins-trained gelding is sure to make his presence felt. Springt De La Mare is another who holds claims for the Gavin Cromwell yard.
ARGENTO BOY showed plenty of ability in bumpers and rates an exciting novice hurdling prospect given his size/pedigree. Springt de la Mare would have been placed but for falling at the last on hurdles bow here last winter and is next best ahead of point winner The Big Westerner.
It is probably safest to go with ARGENTO BOY, who showed enough in bumpers to suggest he could be a nice novice prospect

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
