14:15 Pontefract Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although LEBLON GIRL has a bit to find on ratings, her proven form on softer ground could prove crucial. Alice Haynes' filly posted a close-up second at Ripon in September and a reproduction of that performance may enable a first career triumph. Loving Apprentice arrives on the back of a good second at Chelmsford and she is likely go close if running to a similar level on the switch to turf, while market support for newcomer Morello Man should be noted.

A low grade maiden, LOVING APPRENTICE and Leblon Girl look the leading players on form, with preference for the former, albeit only slight. Morello Man is the interesting newcomer.

Ed Dunlop has a very healthy 24% strike-rate at Pontefract in the last five years and LOVING APPRENTICE is taken to get off the mark.

14:45 Pontefract Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Bentbasa posted his best effort to date when runner-up at Newcastle last month and he must enter calculations. However, an opening mark of 74 will require more from Charlie Fellowes' colt and preference is for TESTIMONIAL. The son of Time Test arrives on the back of a runner-up effort on his nursery bow at Thirsk and he may find enough improvement to cope with a 4lb higher rating. Larchill Lass could also have a say if seeing out the rise in distance.

A chance is taken on the stamina of LARCHILL LASS, who proved herself in the mud when second over 6f here a fortnight ago and has Sam Feilden taking a handy 7 lb off his back. Bentbasa has the potential for better again now handicapping and is second choice ahead of Testimonial.

The filly AYE UP LASS has run really well in defeat in blinkers at Musselburgh the last twice and she is the selection.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

15:15 Pontefract Listed (Class 1) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

LOVE TALK relished the testing conditions when scoring a shade cosily over 7f at Goodwood last month. The Ten Sovereigns filly looks ready for this return to Listed company and a step up to a mile shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Tuscan Hills impressed with how he travelled on his winning debut at Thirsk in August and he isn't taken lightly on this marked rise in grade. Raphael Freire's colt is feared most, ahead of Calla Lagoon.

CALLA LAGOON has had the form of his Ascot maiden win strongly boosted and can underline he's yet another smart prospect for his stable. Castle Stuart won comfortably on heavy at Hamilton recently and is second choice ahead of Love Talk, another who won't be fazed by this deep ground.

Love Talk is respected but CALLA LAGOON has shaped as though 1m will suit, and his Ascot win reads very well.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

15:45 Pontefract Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Sophia's Starlight got back to winning ways in this grade at Newmarket last month and should mount a bold bid off 2lb higher, but she is drawn widest of all. With that in mind, the vote goes to THE EYES HAVE IT, who made a pleasing handicap debut when fourth over 7f at Newmarket earlier in the month. William Haggas' three-year-old might improve for this drop in trip and could be the one to beat off 1lb lower. Alcazan is another to consider.

SOPHIA'S STARLIGHT revels in the mud and might be able to give the weight away. Thursday's Child has a C&D win and a Carlisle second to show for her 2 outings on soft/heavy ground and is feared most with conditions to suit.

Topweight SOPHIA'S STARLIGHT (nap) returned to form with a game win at Newmarket last month and can follow up off 2lb higher.

16:15 Pontefract Stakes (Class 2) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

OXFORD COMMA failed to land a blow in the Park Hill at Doncaster last month, but that run was too bad to be true. Prior to that, she looked an exciting prospect after victories at Salisbury and Doncaster, so it would be no surprise to see her bounce back. Wise Eagle finished third in a Group 3 event at York in July and sets the standard with a rating of 103, while Kyle Of Lochalsh holds stronger credentials than Rajinsky.

KYLE OF LOCHALSH has the best form and is the safest option, though Oxford Comma is less exposed and might have a bigger performance in her.

Oxford Comma could bounce back but preference is for KYLE OF LOCHALSH, who has enjoyed a fine season and is a strong stayer.

16:45 Pontefract Handicap (Class 4) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SPIRIT OF ACKLAM was having his first outing since May when finishing a close third at Ayr earlier this month. The son of Cracksman has plenty of scope for further improvement and looks capable of winning off his current mark. A novice winner at Salisbury, Shamran can have a say on his handicap debut with this extra distance likely to suit, while Paddy The Squire will relish the prevailing underfoot conditions and drops in class with a shout.

SPIRIT OF ACKLAM should be spot on for this after making a promising return from a break at Ayr recently and this unexposed 3-y-o can return to winning ways on ground which suits. Austrian Theory hasn't won for a while but he's run several good races in defeat this year and is second choice ahead of hat-trick seeking 3-y-o Inappropriate, who has yet to prove he handles the mud.

A chance is taken on MAGNETIC NORTH, who is on a handy mark now back down in trip on his second stable start.

(3) Winged Messenger 9/2, Off 11 weeks, might have just needed the run when seventh of 9 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good, 16/1) 20 days ago. Being eased another 2 lb can only help.
Went close at Leicester in June and stretched by 6f at Ayr recently; respected.

17:20 Pontefract Handicap (Class 4) 5f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SHOWHOUND has shown a distinct preference for testing ground and just missed out over 6f at Leicester on his latest start. Richard Fahey's inmate is unexposed over the minimum trip and looks rated to finally land a handicap. Profiteer won over course and distance a fortnight ago and can make his presence felt once again, while Honour Your Dreams scored over 5f at Bath last month and is marginally preferred to Digital.

PROFITEER was only put up 3 lb for his recent C&D win on similarly deep ground and might be able to follow up. Another Baar had 7f as an excuse for a lesser run at York last time and is feared most. Showhound was a good second on heavy at Leicester a fortnight ago and could also play a prominent role.

Winged Messenger is a tempting option but this can go to HONOUR YOUR DREAMS, who has made a very good start for Mick Appleby.
