1st (4) (7/2 +13%) King William Rufus |
7/2(+13%) | (4) King William Rufus 7/2, Showed plenty when placed all 3 bumper outings last season. Took a step forward over hurdles when runner-up in Newbury maiden in December, but hasn't built on that in 2 handicaps since. However, he enters calculations back in maiden company. Below par last time but strong contender at this level on his previous efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 -29%) Beny Nahar Road |
9/4(-29%) | (1) Beny Nahar Road 9/4, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat and runner-up on first 2 starts over hurdles. In first-time hood/tongue strap, snatched up approaching home turn when sixth of 9 in handicap at Taunton last time. Could yet do better in this sphere, though he could do with settling better. Has run okay in novices won by good horses and certainly has the form to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/4 +25%) Fourtowns |
6/4(+25%) | (3) Fourtowns 6/4, Progressive in bumpers for Stuart Crawford and encouraging yard/hurdles debut display when fourth of 13 in novice at Newbury in February. Ran to a similar level when third at Ludlow 19 days later and he could be ready to get off the mark. Not far away in novices at Newbury and Ludlow; drier ground today could help him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (66/1 +0%) St Just In Time |
66/1(+0%) | (8) St Just In Time 66/1, Fair maiden on the level but ran to just a poor level when down the field in juvenile at Ludlow on his hurdling bow last month. Looks to be up against it. Didn't really progress on the Flat and finished well behind on hurdling debut at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (8/1 -60%) Secret Sauce |
8/1(-60%) | (7) Secret Sauce 8/1, Fair performer on the Flat in Ireland and best effort over hurdles when runner-up in Hereford novice in January, faring best of those held up. Not discredited when mid-field in maiden at Huntingdon next time and now makes first run for yard after leaving Anthony Charlton. Best run when second at Hereford but he'll need to better that effort here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (50/1 -52%) The Orchard Boy |
50/1(-52%) | (5) The Orchard Boy 50/1, Ocovango gelding. Dam placed in points, half-sister to fairly useful but ungenuine hurdler/chaser (2¼m-3½m winner) Present To You. Last of 7 finishers on sole outing in points in February. Difficult ask. Beaten 15l into seventh in a 2m4f good-ground British point two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (100/1 +0%) Dancing Master |
100/1(+0%) | (2) Dancing Master 100/1, Poor handicapper on the Flat in Jersey and hasn't offered much in 4 outings for his current yard, tailed off on his second start over hurdles before making little impact back on the level. Best watched. Limited Flat performer who showed nothing in two hurdles this year; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (6) (18/1 -80%) Night Stalker |
18/1(-80%) | (6) Night Stalker 18/1, Showed ability when third at Ludlow on bumper debut but hasn't progressed in a pair of outings in that sphere since. Others make greater appeal switched to hurdling. Backward step in his final bumper, which reduces his appeal on hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BENY NAHAR ROAD has previously fared well against stronger calibre opponents than he faces here and is readily suggested as the one to be with now returning to maiden company. Fourtowns has shown some ability in two previous starts over hurdles and can ensure the selection doesn't have things all his own way if he continues to flourish. Night Stalker and Dancing Master complete the shortlist.
Having improved with each run in bumpers, FOURTOWNS has made a promising start over hurdles for his current yard and he can build on those efforts to open his account. Beny Nahar Road wasn't seen to best effect last time and the Paul Nicholls-trained 5-y-o could be the main danger, with King William Rufus completing the shortlist.
Three stand out and preference is for FOURTOWNS, who has run well in both his hurdles despite racing freely.

1st (1) (4/1 +0%) Kansas City Star |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Kansas City Star 4/1, Off the mark at the first time of asking for Harry Derham in 2m handicap chase at Huntingdon on his debut over fences but he came in last of 5 at Newbury (2m) 30 days ago. Worth another chance. Successful stable debut before a lesser show at Newbury; new headgear now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 -25%) Alto Alto |
5/2(-25%) | (5) Alto Alto 5/2, Rejuvenated by cheekpieces and a tongue strap when bagging 2m handicap chases over C&D this winter. Expected to be bang there despite being raised another 4 lb. Rallied gamely to fend off a subsequent winner over C&D latest; 4lb rise very fair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -25%) Hystery Bere |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Hystery Bere 5/1, Fairly useful hurdles scorer who made a winning start in this sphere in 4-runner handicap at Warwick last May. Pulled up in Newbury handicap chase before coming in last of 6 on the Flat at Lingfield last 2 starts though. Has a bit to prove. Pulled up in his final chase and then last on the AW; blinkers are now turned to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 -14%) Voice Of Calm |
8/1(-14%) | (3) Voice Of Calm 8/1, Triple hurdle winner who also scored over fences at Leicester (match race) last February. Posted a solid third of 8 in handicap chase at Kempton (20.5f, good to soft) 139 days ago. Possibilities. Below par the last twice and has been off since November; drop in trip a further worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 +0%) You Say Nothing |
14/1(+0%) | (6) You Say Nothing 14/1, Scored at Ffos Las (2m) last May but he has twice failed to back up a good Chepstow second over Christmas since. Needs to bounce back. Capable on his day but inconsistent and has performed poorly the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/2 -5%) Vicki Vale |
7/2(-5%) | (4) Vicki Vale 7/2, Signed off last term by winning a mares' novice hurdle at Taunton and has acquitted herself well in handicap company this season. Of strong interest now switched to fences. May want further but a consistent hurdler who commands respect on this switch to fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
The hat-trick chasing ALTO ALTO appeals strongly based on a couple of hard-fought successes registered at this course and, having adapted well since being tried with the cheekpieces and tongue-tie combination, the seven-year-old gets the vote once again. Vicki Vale is feared on her chasing bow, while Kansas City Star is capable of a decent showing, especially with a first-time tongue-tie applied.
ALTO ALTO has taken his form up a level since fitted with cheekpieces/tongue strap and can complete a hat-trick at the chief expense of Dan Skelton's chasing-debutante Vicki Vale. Voice of Calm and Kansas City Star need factoring in too if at their best.
Chris Gordon's ALTO ALTO is always a force to be reckoned with around here and he beat a subsequent winner on his latest visit.

1st (1) (3/1 +25%) Sea Invasion |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Sea Invasion 3/1, Bought for £110,000 after a promising effort between the flags in 2022 and has made steady progress under Rules, most recently finishing fourth in a strong maiden hurdle at Kempton (2m, good) on Boxing Day. Should have more to offer now upped in trip for this handicap debut and good claims. Has bumped into good horses in his maidens and he's raised in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/1 -45%) A Tickatickatiming |
8/1(-45%) | (6) A Tickatickatiming 8/1, Fair bumper winner and matched that level over hurdles when holding on gamely for success in 2m mares' maiden here in November. Will need to find more again as she goes handicapping up in trip 5 months on. Both wins have been here; quite interesting up in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -67%) All Authorized |
5/1(-67%) | (2) All Authorized 5/1, Looks on a fair mark judged on his second in 2m novice handicap at Newbury earlier this month but spurned a good opening in Fontwell novice since. Should stay this far and isn't one to give up on. Capable of a bold show despite coming up short in latest maiden when long odds-on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (25/1 -79%) Senor Diaz |
25/1(-79%) | (10) Senor Diaz 25/1, Stuck to his task when runner-up at Chepstow (2m, heavy) in January but well beaten at Exeter next time. Work to do now handicapping up in trip. Could have run better last time at Exeter and others appeal more on this handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (14/1 +13%) Defi Nonantais |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Defi Nonantais 14/1, Steady improvement in 3 novice hurdles but only a respectable effort without finding the necessary progress on his handicap bow at Wincanton (21.4f, heavy) last month. Tongue tie/cheekpieces on after wind op now and work to do. Made a noise when third on handicap debut; had wind op and headgear tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (25/1 -56%) Birdman Bob |
25/1(-56%) | (9) Birdman Bob 25/1, A regular here, winning 2m novice handicap hurdle in November and good efforts when completing since under this rider. Poor run over fences fitted with cheekpieces at Exeter on Monday and this looks tough. On a tough mark but has each-way claims back hurdling on a track he runs well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (5/1 +38%) Tregele |
5/1(+38%) | (5) Tregele 5/1, Looked on a tempting mark on his efforts in 2m novice/maiden hurdles but proved a bit disappointing on his handicap debut over this trip at Huntingdon 10 weeks ago. Remains unexposed at least. There's a suspicion that he's better than he showed on handicap debut latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (5/1 -11%) Two To Tango |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Two To Tango 5/1, Fair form in bumpers and again in a couple of races over hurdles this season, well positioned but lacking a turn of foot over the shorter trip (2m) when second at Newbury 7 weeks ago. Can do better now going handicapping over this stiffer test. Placed in both hurdles and should pay his way in handicaps over this sort of trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (7/1 -8%) Impact Du Bonheur |
7/1(-8%) | (8) Impact Du Bonheur 7/1, Bought for €90,000 after winning the third of 3 bumper starts in France. Some promise over hurdles initially for new yard but has been well beaten in 2 handicaps, including fitted with cheekpieces at Musselburgh 8 weeks ago. Bit to prove all of a sudden. Four defeats for this yard include two handicaps; today's drier conditions may assist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (25/1 -25%) Ca Plane Pour Moi |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Ca Plane Pour Moi 25/1, Had been shaping up quite well for Colm Murphy, but was notably weak in the market fitted with a hood by a new yard at Taunton 3 weeks ago and ran no sort of race. Back up in trip and might need his mark to drop a little further. Ability in Ireland; quiet stable debut in a Taunton handicap; hood tried there is removed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A TICKATICKATIMING goes well at this venue and, having shown tenacity to land a mares' maiden here when last seen, the six-year-old is a striking option here. Having gone well fresh in the past, the selection debuts in a handicap off a very workable mark and, with her course experience to draw upon, everything looks in place for a big run. All Authorized is effective at this level and is feared most, although support in the betting for Two To Tango would also be tempting.
SEA INVASION ran well in a valuable 2m maiden hurdle at the King George meeting on Boxing Day and promises to do better again now handicapping up in trip. He gets the vote over Two To Tango and All Authorized.
This has an open look to it. SEA INVASION is interesting over this longer trip for a trainer recognised in the race title.

1st (7) (8/1 +50%) Cap Du Nord |
8/1(+50%) | (7) Cap Du Nord 8/1, Grand servant to connections but he arrives below par and is without a win for 12 outings. Others make more appeal. 11yo who is 10lb below his last winning mark, having not made much impact this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/8 -9%) Makin'yourmindup |
13/8(-9%) | (1) Makin'yourmindup 13/8, Likeable sort who arrives on a hat-trick after a pair of 23f Newbury handicap chase successes this year. Up 5 lb but he looks to have more to offer and merits serious consideration. On the up and today's extra yardage may well help, after two wins at Newbury (2m7f, heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/1 +13%) Unanswered Prayers |
7/1(+13%) | (5) Unanswered Prayers 7/1, Winless over fences since 2022 but he got back on track after a wind op when sixth of 12 in handicap chase at Kempton (24f, soft) 36 days ago. Considered eased 1 lb. Has shown enough this term to be given a squeak on this second run since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -25%) Rose Of Arcadia |
5/1(-25%) | (4) Rose Of Arcadia 5/1, Is enjoying a good season and landed 10-runner handicap chase at Sandown (24.2f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Must enter calculations despite taking a 4 lb rise. Having a pretty solid campaign, winning at Sandown latest, and should be on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 +8%) Moroder |
11/1(+8%) | (3) Moroder 11/1, Bagged the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster last March and ended campaign with a fine second in Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown. Big questions to answer now though after 4 poor runs this season. Second in major 3m4f handicap at Sandown last April but badly out of sorts this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (13/2 -30%) Any News |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Any News 13/2, Bumper/hurdles winner who took a while to get off the mark over fences but has had a productive autumn, winning 3 times (albeit the second was a walkover). A 5 lb rise for his latest Exeter success does demand more of him, though. Stayed on gamely to take 11-runner race at Exeter (3m, good) in October last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A few of these arrive in terrific form, perhaps none more so than MAKIN'YOURMINDUP, who completed a double at Newbury at the start of the month. Given that he has further scope for improvement over the larger obstacles, a subsequent 5lb rise might not be enough to stop him from landing the hat-trick. Recent Sandown scorer Rose Of Arcadia won't go down without a fight, though, and nor will Any News, who arrives having been on target at Exeter in October.
MAKIN'YOURMINDUP arrives on the up and looks the way to go here despite having a career-high mark to overcome. The consistent Rose of Arcadia rates the main danger to Paul Nicholls' hat-trick seeker, with Hudson de Grugy also weighted to have a say in this useful handicap.
Nicholls-trained 7yo MAKIN'YOURMINDUP firmly catches the eye but Any News and Rose Of Arcadia could be serious rivals.

1st (11) (6/1 +40%) Our Champ |
6/1(+40%) | (11) Our Champ 6/1, Winner of handicaps over C&D and Cheltenham on first 2 outings for Chris Gordon. His progress has stalled since but he made a sound return from wind surgery (also tongue tied) when seventh of 21 in Betfair at Newbury and his stable's good record in this affords him plenty of respect. Course winner; first run after a wind op when running well for a long way in the Betfair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (16/1 -100%) Mr Freedom |
16/1(-100%) | (9) Mr Freedom 16/1, Most consistent sort in the main who produced another likeable display when landing 6-runner C&D handicap at the start of the month. It was always going to be a big ask for him under a penalty in the County at Cheltenham since and he hasn't finished out of the first 3 in his 4 outings over C&D. Likeable 5yo but off his current mark he could be vulnerable to others better in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (10/1 -11%) Tapley |
10/1(-11%) | (13) Tapley 10/1, Returned to form with a bang when bagging 2m Kempton handicap in November and has remained in good form since, resuming winning ways at Fakenham (2m again) 16 days ago. No reason why this former C&D winner won't give his running but he is 5 lb higher in a stronger race now. Bang in form and consistent, but he might be vulnerable in this strong a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -20%) Gin Coco |
12/1(-20%) | (3) Gin Coco 12/1, Lightly-raced 8-y-o who showed benefit of his reappearance when taking 2m Ascot handicap hurdle in November. Freshened up since finishing down the field at Doncaster the following month but others more appealing on balance. Record fresh is encouraging, as is the drying ground; should make presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (5/1 +0%) Rare Middleton |
5/1(+0%) | (12) Rare Middleton 5/1, Firmly back on the up in a first-time tongue tie (retained) when impressive winner of 2m Doncaster handicap (good to soft) in December. Might have been kept fresh for a spring campaign since and his top trainer does well in this race. Comfortable winner at Doncaster in December and a 6lb rise could have been worse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (4/1 +33%) Aucunrisque |
4/1(+33%) | (1) Aucunrisque 4/1, Betfair Hurdle winner in 2023 and good third in this last year. Few efforts of note since (well held in Lanzarote at Kempton latest) but is well treated if staging a revival in a race the stable is no stronger to success in. Not having a great season but first and third in the last two renewals of this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 -7%) Teddy Blue |
15/2(-7%) | (6) Teddy Blue 15/2, Free-goer who won this last year before finishing second in the Swinton. Back on form in competitive events over longer trips on his last 2 outings and more than capable off this mark if on a going day. Has his quirks but won this last year and his latest Ascot fourth was a positive show. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (12/1 +14%) Too Friendly |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Too Friendly 12/1, On the up for current yard during the summer, winning three 2m handicap hurdles. His progress over hurdles stalled at the end of 2023 but returned from a break to win on AW Flat at Kempton recently. Not discounted. Five hurdle wins and successful on the AW recently; considered with a 7lb claimer booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (18/1 -80%) Moveit Like Minnie |
18/1(-80%) | (10) Moveit Like Minnie 18/1, Posted significant improvement when winning 2m handicaps at Ludlow and Huntingdon. Good fourth to Lucia in a warm race at Ascot before Christmas but he needs to bounce back from a lesser run in the Betfair at Newbury. Ran just okay in the Betfair but he's a player on his previous fourth at Ascot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (22/1 +33%) Inferno Sacree |
22/1(+33%) | (14) Inferno Sacree 22/1, Three of his 5 wins in the first half of 2023 came here. Respectable in-frame efforts on his last 2 outings and he has dropped back to his last successful mark. Front-runner who is well suited to this track but tends to do his winning at a lower level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 -43%) Knickerbockerglory |
10/1(-43%) | (4) Knickerbockerglory 10/1, Typically went with plenty of zest when an impressive winner on Ascot return in November. Has run creditably on 2 of 3 starts since, no extra only from last when fifth of 16 in Imperial Cup at Sandown latest. Cheekpieces on first time. Top yard always to be feared in valuable handicap hurdles. Faced some tough tasks; now in cheekpieces but would prefer softer ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (18/1 -13%) Brookie |
18/1(-13%) | (8) Brookie 18/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser in Ireland and won handicap hurdles on 2 of his 3 starts for Anthony Honeyball. Not in the same form when a well-held fourth at Kempton over Christmas and has first-time blinkers added to his tongue strap on this first outing since. 2-4 for this yard but well held in his latest run; blinkers will need to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 -43%) Parramount |
20/1(-43%) | (5) Parramount 20/1, Had an excellent first season over hurdles, winning 3 times. Probably best to overlook final 2 starts at Aintree/Haydock and comes here on the back of 2 placed efforts on AW Flat this year. Fair runs on the AW of late; 8lb higher than his winning mark but not dismissed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Teddy Blue landed the corresponding event 12 months ago from a 3lb lower mark and he must be respected in a bid to retain his crown, but a chance is taken on RARE MIDDLETON. He was able to put it all together when winning at Doncaster in December on just his third run in a handicap and looks set to continue his improvement in the retained tongue-tie. Gin Coco and Knickerbockerglory make plenty of appeal from their current handicap marks and must be taken seriously.
A really good renewal of this valuable handicap. RARE MIDDLETON had plenty in hand at Doncaster when last seen in December and is taken to provide Paul Nicholls with a fourth win in this race since 2015. Chris Gordon is another who has a fine record in this and his Our Champ heads the many dangers along with Knickerbockerglory and last year's winner Teddy Blue.
A whole host of these have chances but GIN COCO (nap) is classy on his day and, with a good record fresh, he has to be strong interest.

1st (8) (11/2 +0%) Fame And Fun |
11/2(+0%) | (8) Fame And Fun 11/2, Dual 19f hurdles scorer last season who signed off with a solid fifth of 13 in handicap at Taunton (19f, soft) in April. However, hasn't convinced in 2 starts over fences since returning to action in October. Yet to shine over fences but may improve as he gains in confidence and his mark is okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -5%) I See You Well |
7/2(-5%) | (1) I See You Well 7/2, Something of a course specialist, winning 5 times over fences here. Solid showing over hurdles here recently and this looks very winnable, so he's worth chancing. Questionable what he achieved back hurdling last time; had been struggling over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/2 -22%) Star Flyer |
11/2(-22%) | (6) Star Flyer 11/2, Winner in chase at Southwell in February. Fourth of 6 in handicap chase (5/1) at Taunton (23f, heavy) 31 days ago. Not one to write off given how well he jumped at Southwell. Poor last time but he'd look good in the new cheekpieces the time before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 -20%) Fairway Freddy |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Fairway Freddy 12/1, Good third of 7 in handicap chase at Huntingdon on penultimate outing but was let down by jumping at Hereford since. Needs to bounce back after a break. Pulled up after a 62-day break at Hereford and now returns from a similar one.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (7/2 +0%) Rocky Lake |
7/2(+0%) | (5) Rocky Lake 7/2, Winning hurdler who has yet to progress from a promising debut in this sphere, again below form at Hereford a couple of months ago. Needs to bounce back after a break. Has been all over the shop trip-wise and cheekpieces did nothing for him last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (8/1 +20%) I Shut That D'or |
8/1(+20%) | (4) I Shut That D'or 8/1, Fairly useful winning hurdler who has completely lost his way over fences, regularly making errors, so others are more persuasive. Going the wrong way but has won a race; much depends on what effect a wind op has had. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (16/1 -14%) Luckofthedraw |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Luckofthedraw 16/1, Back to winning ways at Huntingdon (19.9f, 3 runners) a year ago but ended the campaign out of sorts and hasn't been seen for 10 months. Beat two rivals in March and hasn't fared so well since in deeper races; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
I See You Well returned to form with a solid second over hurdles earlier this month, but this drop in distance may be enough to prevent the veteran from regaining the winning thread. With that in mind, it may be worth taking a chance on I SHUT THAT D'OR. Although Joe Tizzard's inmate hasn't progressed as expected during his novice chase campaign, a subsequent wind procedure may unlock his true potential. Star Flyer could also prove dangerous if dictating the pace.
Veteran I SEE YOU WELL loves it round here and the bulk of his opponents have a bit to prove, so he's worth siding with over Star Flyer, who is a big player if back to the sort of form he showed at Southwell on his penultimate outing. Inedit de Mee can't be dismissed having his first go over the larger obstacles.
A chance is taken on FAME AND FUN coming good at just the third time of asking over fences, as his handicap mark is fine.

1st (3) (7/2 +0%) Emailandy |
7/2(+0%) | (3) Emailandy 7/2, Third in a bumper in the spring and built on that to make a successful start over hurdles in 20.5f novice at this track in November. Has shown better form in defeat subsequently, including when third in 17-runner handicap at Sandown last time. Merits plenty of respect. Placed in the EBF Final last time and progressive enough to cope with the 2lb rise. |

2nd (7) (7/1 -27%) Whatsupwithyou |
7/1(-27%) | (7) Whatsupwithyou 7/1, 10/1, improved to win 10-runner handicap hurdle at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) 102 days ago, staying on well. Merits consideration. Ludlow win just before Christmas hasn't worked out too badly; rated higher in the past. |

3rd (9) (20/1 +0%) Alien Storm |
20/1(+0%) | (9) Alien Storm 20/1, Won 2m Plumpton novice last term and has generally held form since, albeit his latest run at Kempton was a rare poor effort. Others more persuasive. Poor last time but his previous two runs in fair handicaps were encouraging. |

4th (1) (8/1 +0%) Tightenourbelts |
8/1(+0%) | (1) Tightenourbelts 8/1, Maiden hurdle winner who made the perfect start to his chase career in a Ludlow novice handicap (2½m, soft) in November. Improved again when third to Hermes Allen in Newbury Gr. 2 next start and whilst he's disappointed in good company since, this return to handicapping could help. Smart chaser who could do some damage back over hurdles in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 -25%) Ilovethenightlife |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Ilovethenightlife 10/1, Scopey sort who raised her game when landing the EBF Mares' Final at Newbury last March. Raised her game further this year when winning 7-runner handicap here (25f) in January but underwhelming since. Not ruled out. Four hurdle wins from 2m to 3m1f; latest run was too bad to be true; career-high mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (11/1 +0%) Small Bad Bob |
11/1(+0%) | (10) Small Bad Bob 11/1, Fair winning hurdler/chaser for Paul Henderson and struck over hurdles at just the second time of asking for new trainer Chris Gordon here in October. Not in same form at Kempton next time but can bounce back after a break. Well held at Kempton last time but this is more his scene. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 +64%) Perseus Way |
12/1(+64%) | (8) Perseus Way 12/1, Dual winner on the Flat who quickly developed into a useful juvenile hurdler for Gary Moore last season. Recorded 2 good placed efforts on Flat for Owen Burrows in the autumn but poor so far for current yard. Smart juvenile last season and might be glad to get away from heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (9/2 +0%) Mothill |
9/2(+0%) | (6) Mothill 9/2, Consistent type who produced a career-best effort to make it three from his last four in a 16-runner handicap at Ascot, showing a willing attitude. Every chance he'll go well again. Mark continues to rise but there's no knocking his Ascot form last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (7/2 -17%) Colours On Canvas |
7/2(-17%) | (4) Colours On Canvas 7/2, Right back on the up lately, completing a C&D double with a good deal to spare 20 days ago. Big chance of landing the hat-trick. Back-to-back C&D wins, both comfortable; up another 10lb in stronger company now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
First-time cheekpieces saw a career-best performance from last month's Ascot scorer MOTHILL. A 5lb rise in the ratings looks more than fair for landing that 16-runner affair and Neil Mulholland's charge is fancied to complete a double. Colours On Canvas warrants respect in his hat-trick bid over C&D, although a 10lb hike in the handicap will undoubtedly make life tougher for the five-year-old. Emailandy and Whatsupwithyou also merit a second look.
COLOURS ON CANVAS is thriving and makes plenty of appeal as he bids to complete a hat-trick over C&D. Emailandy and Mothill also arrive at the top of their game and strike as formidable threats in a competitive event.
Emailandy has strong claims but PERSEUS WAY was a smart juvenile last season who might be glad to see the back of heavy ground.
Ths is the racecard key.
