San Pedro

4/1(+56%)
(6) San Pedro 4/1, Struck twice over this C&D last term, including a wide-margin success under Freddie Gordon in this corresponding race. Below par so far this season but he's edging back down the weights and will be a danger to all if able to bounce back.
Out of form this season but won this last year and not written off now back here.
5
2nd (5) Malago Rose (13/2 +19%)
Malago Rose

6.5
13/2(+19%)
(5) Malago Rose 13/2, Beaten a fair way on return/debut for new yard at Ludlow in November, but produced a career-best next time out when taking a 7-runner Fakenham handicap (23.4f, soft) on New Year's Day. However, failed to back that up over the same C&D since and she's probably worth taking on.
Easy win at Fakenham on New Year's Day; underwhelming 4th there since but may bounce back.
2
3rd (2) Lumi Plugin (6/4 +40%)
Lumi Plugin

1.5
6/4(+40%)
(2) Lumi Plugin 6/4, ):Runner-up both starts in maiden hurdles and stepped up appreciably on his comeback run at Wincanton when finishing a neck second of 10 in handicap at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) last month. This stiffer test promises to suit him down to the ground and he's on to be interested in.
Ran well over 1m7f last time; much longer trip today but reasons to be optimistic.
7

Vendant

6
6/1(-118%)
(7) Vendant 6/1, Placed in points and left previous form in this sphere a long way behind when a fine second upped to 21.8f at Fontwell (soft) recently. This further step up in trip looks a good move and he's a must for the shortlist.
Galloped on gamely when going close over extended 2m5f at Fontwell; this trip could suit.
4
5th (4) Pure Theatre (8/1 +33%)
Pure Theatre

8
8/1(+33%)
(4) Pure Theatre 8/1, Tasted success twice in mares' hurdles in spring 2023 but has been more miss than hit since. That said, the handicapper continues to show mercy and, as a 7-y-o with 15 runs under her belt overall, time is certainly still on her side.
Continues to edge down the weights but she needs to get back on track.
1
6th (1) Grove Road (15/2 -88%)
Grove Road

7.5
15/2(-88%)
(1) Grove Road 15/2, Opened account for this yard in a first-time visor at Newton Abbot last July and followed up back from a break at Huntingdon in November. Not disgraced on desperate ground in a Fontwell marathon recently and drop back in trip/better ground here will equate to a more suitable test.
Won two in a row last July/November; didn't see out 3m3f on heavy last time; respected.

13:45 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A 6lb rise was enough to thwart Malago Rose in her bid to record a double at Fakenham 22 days ago, although she could feature if brushing up her jumping. Regardless, the stoutly-bred LUMI PLUGIN looks just the type to improve for this marked step up in distance and the Kayf Tara gelding is fancied to build on his latest second at Leicester. The lightly-raced Vendant arrives on the back of a runner-up effort at Fontwell and is feared most.

LUMI PLUGIN and Vendant are both appealing now faced with a stiffer test. Marginal preference is for the former, who appears to be on a good mark having been raised just 2 lb for his close call at Leicester. Pure Theatre and last year's winner San Pedro are both dangerous to discount off reduced marks, while top-weight Grove Road should also make his presence felt.

Stamina looked a strong suit for VENDANT when he went close over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell recently and he can get off the mark.

(8) Narragansett 2/5, Fairly useful (and lightly-raced) winner on the Flat and has found just one too good on each of his 2 starts in juvenile hurdles, both of which were decent-looking contests. Now tried in a hood and, with improvement on the cards, he may well make it third time lucky.
Runner-up in two juvenile hurdles and in calculations now against older horses.

(6) Dr Waksman 14/1, Fair form in maidens on the Flat (stays 10.5f) for Andrew Oliver in Ireland and showed an aptitude for hurdling when fifth of 10 on debut in this sphere at Warwick (2m, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Should improve with that experience under his belt.
Fair Flat maiden whose hurdle debut fifth wasn't without promise; an each-way possible.

(9) Under The Sun 10/3, Useful performer on the Flat (stays 1¼m) for Hugo Palmer and, though well held final 4 starts of last year, he has to be of interest now switched to hurdles for new yard with Harry Cobden an eye-catching booking. Will be all the more appealing if the market speaks in his favour.
Very useful at his best on the Flat; interesting to see how he goes in the betting.

14:15 Plumpton Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Neil Mulholland's four-year-old NARRAGANSETT must have a good chance judged on his performances in juvenile hurdles at Market Rasen and Wetherby. A winner on the Flat in a Curragh handicap, it's just a matter of time before he breaks through in this sphere. Hurdles debutant Under The Sun also warrants consideration for a top yard, likewise Ludlow bumper winner Gregorians Star.

Having shown plenty in juvenile hurdles at Market Rasen and Wetherby, NARRAGANSETT is taken to open his account here with the aid of a first-time hood. Under The Sun is a fascinating contender given that he was was borderline Group-class on the Flat and the booking of Harry Cobden suggests that connections mean business.

The withdrawal of Nap Hand leaves NARRAGANSETT the clear pick on hurdles form. Under The Sun is feared most.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

14:45 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Theonlywayiswessex supplemented some decent efforts in defeat when landing the spoils over C&D in December. Although Alan King's charge scored with something in hand that day, a 10lb hike could prove his downfall and a chance is taken on chase debutant KORUS. The five-year-old arrives on the back of a good third at Ffos Las and he looks just the type to excel in this discipline. Ede'iffs Rock can also figure.

An open race with the vote going to JOHN W CREASY, who's getting the hang of things over fences now and was beaten only by a much-improved one at Warwick on New Year's Eve. Ede'iffs Rock is next best ahead of Walks Like The Man.

Topweight THEONLYWAYISWESSEX (nap) impressed over C&D last time and can defy a 10lb rise. The in-form John W Creasy is a danger.

15:15 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CONFINENTIC showed major improvement from first to second start over hurdles when scoring over 2m here last time out, and the rise in distance could eke out further progress on his handicap debut. Telhimlisten can give him the most to think about following a taking success at Sedgefield, while the consistent Godot is likely to be thereabouts as well after finishing second at Lingfield last time out.

CONFINENTIC was much improved from hurdling debut when getting off the mark at this course in December, form boosted by the runner-up winning next time, and with this longer trip to suit based on pedigree he can continue his progress to follow up. Telhimlisten could be the main danger having made a winning return back with Jennie Candlish, ahead of Godot.

The very lightly raced 5yo CONFINENTIC kept on well to win a 2m novice hurdle here in December and can follow up now up in trip.

15:45 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 3) 28f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

A tentative vote goes to SIBERIAN STAR, who was value for more than the winning margin when hampered and eventually got up late to score over 3m1f at Catterick last time out. A further rise in distance looks like a good move, and he may have enough to see off recent course winner Invincible Nao, and Supervisor, who wasn't beaten far at Catterick on his most recent outing.

Plenty with claims here, including INVINCIBLE NAO, who had a couple of these rivals behind when scoring here a fortnight ago and remains feasibly treated. He gets the nod. Supervisor and Vision de Maine head the list of dangers

Having stayed on strongly to win over the extended 3m1f here latest, INVINCIBLE NAO looks a good prospect for a further step up in trip.

16:15 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Alto Alto faced just three rivals when he won this race off 3lb higher last year and although dangerous to underestimate with a visor added, recent form suggests the more progressive JOLYJUMP could be a safer option. Unexposed in this discipline, the son of Kapgarde is highly appealing on just his fourth start over the larger obstacles. C&D winner Non Stop is the pick of the remainder.

NON STOP won over hurdles here earlier this season and figures off a handy mark back over the larger obstacles. He can land the spoils. Jolyjump should appreciate the return to a left-handed track and rates the chief threat.

Preference is for last year's winner ALTO ALTO, who could return to form with a bang now back here in a first-time visor.

(3) Getmetothemoon 5/2, Justified support in 2m Stratford handicap hurdle in June and creditable efforts on all 4 completed starts since, finishing fourth of 10 at Taunton (2m, soft) latest. A prominent showing is likely.
Today's race looks weak and this consistent 6yo may have a good opportunity.

(1) Little Soiree 2/1, Maiden but she didn't make too bad a start to her handicap career when third at Windsor (2m, good to soft) in December. Returns from a short break with her stable among the winners. Gets the vote.
0-10 but fair third at Windsor last time and she might not be far away.

(2) A Tickatickatiming 11/4, Held on gamely for success in C&D mares' maiden in November 2023. Also placed in handicaps in the spring and arrives fit from a decent run on AW Flat last month.
Some fair h'cap runs last spring and respectable return on AW recently; possible contender.

(6) Little Lady Lucy 12/1, Fair on Flat for Joseph O'Brien, winning a Gowran handicap in September. Well beaten in 3 juvenile hurdles for Joseph O'Brien but it wouldn't be a shock to see her prove a different proposition in handicaps. One to note in the betting.
Flat winner who makes handicap hurdle debut off a lowly mark; watch the betting.

(5) Sawpit Sienna 13/2, Creditable third of 6 at Lingfield (2m, good) in November but needs to shrug off a poor effort at Taunton last month in a race she'd won in the 2 previous years.
Inconsistent and soundly beaten last time but a case can be made on last year's best form.

Lightly raced 12yo; pulled up the last twice; hard to fancy back from another absence.

16:45 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Running off just 3lb higher than when she won at Stratford last summer, GETMETOTHEMOON is an attractive proposition bidding to double her career tally with Chad Bament, who knows her well, claiming a very handy 10lb. Little Soiree runs for a yard that has turned a corner of late and also commands respect having been cut some slack by the handicapper. Sawpit Sienna completes the shortlist.

Chris Gordon has his team in form so it might be worth siding with LITTLE SOIREE, who is 5 lb lower than when third on her Windsor handicap debut in December. The consistent Getmetothemoon is the obvious danger unless the betting speaks in the favour of Neil Mulholland handicap newcomer Little Lady Lucy.

Preference is for the consistent GETMETOTHEMOON in a race in which the majority have something to prove.
